Sad to say it, but the headcrab zombie won’t be ready in time for Rose City Comic Con this weekend. I done did a goof.

I fully assembled the mask this afternoon and discovered that the jointed front legs (which attach at the tip to my chest so it looks like they’re digging in) push the whole mask off my head as soon as I look down. I’m surprised since that’s the main reason I gave the legs such flexible joints: so they could bend and accommodate head movements in any direction. It wasn’t a problem when I was testing it out, but now that everything’s glued together … well, the mask isn’t wearable like this. I tried tinkering but it’ll require dismantling the whole shoulder joint on both sides (I think) to fix, which would take time that I don’t have. :(

I may take a short break from working on it, but now that the costume is really starting to take shape & resemble what I envisioned, I’m genuinely excited to keep working. Even with this setback.

I’m going to take the opportunity to start using my new-ish cosplay blog @deadofnightstudio-cosplay to post major updates & progress posts on this and future cosplays.
