After returning to Berlin after the confrontation with Poland he only sees one path to change the world and save Germany - joining the NSDAP and rise in the ranks, until he becomes highest command of the Luftwaffe and ministre without fixed position.

Despite his suppressed and denied homosexuality he marries to conform to society and has a son - Friedrich Jäger (Germany) whom he neglects severely. Work keeps him from home. Near the end of the war he spirals back into alcoholism, sleep deprivation, starvation and hallucination.

Expecting his inevitable demise, he engaged in damage control to save what is left of his nation.

He is no coward and will fall with his nation instead of hiding and taking the easy way out. His public execution takes place in Berlin, July 1945, carried out by a Soviet Soldier.
