I Was Feeling Heroic Chapter 15;
Chapter 15 - I Was Feeling Heroic Series.
First Season.
Second Season.
Alex stood next to Hayley in the back living room in the abattoir, Freya was preparing to cast a spell to enter the pendant and try to fix Elijah's broken mind, Klaus steps into the room putting his cellphone into his coat.
"Rebekah and Kol just landed, I assured them we are just mere moments away from returning our brother to life," Klaus says, he points at the pendant. "Don't make me a liar."
"I can't resurrect, Elijah," Freya says, Alex crosses her arms over her chest as she looked at Klaus, had he not been paying attention? "Not until I'm certain his mind his whole."
"You saved Finn with that very trinket, what's the problem?" Klaus asks.
"When the pendant shattered, Elijah's mind shattered with it." Freya begins explaining. "He's most likely retreated to the innermost core of his consciousness."
"How do we find it?" Hayley asks, Jackson had been at the Bayou for the past week helping out the packs, Hayley was supposed to go help him, but decided to stay behind and see if she could be of any help in the city.
"I don't know, he could be anywhere in over thousands of memories, but if I try fixing the pendant before finding him and healing his mind, he'll be permanently fractured," Freya says. "Like casting a broken bone before it's been properly set."
"Spare me the medical analogies and fix him," Klaus demands.
"I need to go inside him and find him," Freya says. "Once I am sure his mind is stable, then I can fix the pendant."
"Well then, stop talking and get in there," Klaus says, he had no idea how complicated it would be.
"You're not being helpful, so why don't you go and get rid of those rosebushes," Alex says, she was in no mood for Klaus's demands and he wasn't being any help at the moment, Klaus stares at her before letting out a sigh and leaving the room, Alex looks at Hayley as she uncrosses her arms. "Why don't you take Hope out to the Bayou, see if you can help Jackson?"
"Sure, but call if you two need any help," Hayley says.
"We will," Alex says, Hayley gives them a faint smile before leaving as well, Alex looks towards Freya. "Do you need a power source?"
"I'm going to need all the magic I can get," Freya says, Alex walks towards her.
"I'm right here if you need it," Alex says, Freya nods her head giving a thankful smile to Alex.
"Thank you," Freya says, she walks towards the circle she had drawn on the floor and lays down in the middle.
"Are you ready?" Alex asks, Freya nods her head before taking in a deep breath.
"I have to be," Freya says. "Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz." She chants before falling quiet, Alex stares at her hoping it had worked, Freya sits up gasping for air.
"What happened?" Alex asks as she made her way towards Freya, her eyes wide with concern.
"I thought I found him," Freya says. "But he just vanished right in front of me." Alex extends her arm out to Freya, Freya takes Alex's hand and Alex pulls her to her feet. "That's not our only problem." Freya walks towards the small round table. "I can't search Elijah's mind and sustain a spell at the same time."
"Then put me in his mind," Alex says. "You stay out here, anchor the spell." Freya turns to look at Alex. "I'll find him and bring him back."
"You have a history with him and a long one as I've heard," Freya says. "Perhaps it could work." Freya picks up a bowl. "I'll need your blood." Alex walks towards Freya and picks up the knife.
"How much?" Alex asks.
"Just a little," Freya says, Alex placed the knife against her palm and sliced it open, she held it over the bowl letting her blood drip into the bowl, her palm quickly healed and blood dried up. "Thank you." Freya takes the bowl from her. "Once you're inside, you need to think where would Elijah find refuge? It has to be somewhere that represents the fundamental basis of who he is." Alex nods her head as she makes her way towards the circle. "Hopefully, that's a good place, when you find him, draw him out and wake him up, but be careful, his mind isn't stable."
"Don't worry about me, just focus on the spell," Alex says as she lays down in the circle.
"Tillate ulaz. Tillate ulaz." Freya chants.
Alex opens her eyes, white surrounded her as she looks around, she stood in a long white hall with over a thousand doors that contained over a thousand memories in each of them, she takes a step forward before slowly making her way down the hallway, inspecting each door before coming to a halt next to the only red door in the hallway, agonizing screams came from behind it making her take a step back, she turns around to face another door and pushes it open.
"You know I only wish you would stop smoking that shit." Santino's voice rang out in an echo, it sounded far away but Alex could see her younger self standing next to Santino.
"I know." Alex heard her own voice, it was the first time Alex saw Elijah and he had seen her, Elijah stood a few feet behind Alex and Santino as she smoked. "But being an addict, it's hard to stop." Elijah knew he should've focused on his target inside the restaurant, but he couldn't help but listen in on the conversation behind him.
"I realize it's hard to stop, but perhaps you could keep your distance from Jayden, he's ruining his own life and he is also ruining yours, he's shortening your life with those death sticks and pills," Santino says. "I want you around for a long time, Alexandra, not just until you're 25 or 30, he's ruining your life." Alex could see herself bending down to put out the cigarette.
"I know how you feel, you've told me a thousand times already," Alex says. "But just for a quick newsflash, Santino, alcohol also shortens your lifespan." Alex was no longer focusing on herself and Santino but on Elijah.
"I know it does, but doing drugs and drinking at the same time, you are playing Russian roulette with your life," Santino says, Alex turns around only to slam straight into Elijah's back, Elijah turns around to face her.
"Shit, I'm so sorry." Alex was quick to apologize. "I'm so sorry, I didn't look where I was going."
"It is quite all right, no harm was done," Elijah says, Alex nods her head not knowing what else to say, she carefully but quickly walks around Elijah while Santino flashed an awkward smile before following Alex.
"I am surprised you did not ask for his number," Santino says, everything started to fade as Elijah stared at Alex where she stood, her younger self faded along with Santino.
"Elijah?" Alex says, hoping that she had found him, Elijah stares at her before vanished as well.
Alex steps out of the room and closes the door while letting out a sigh, she walks down the hall searching for another door, she opens another random door and steps inside and saw Elijah standing in front of her old house in Mystic Falls.
"Alexandra?" Elijah calls out as he looks through the window, he saw some furniture still there. "Alexandra!" He takes out his phone and scrolls through his contacts looking for Alex's number, he taps on her name, calling her phone.
"The number you have called no longer exists." Elijah locks his phone and stares up at the house wondering where in the world she was, Alex could see Santino walking past her house but stopping once he spots Elijah.
"Hey, man," Santino says loud, Elijah turns around to face Santino and decides to walk up to him.
"You're Santino Iglesias if I remember correctly?" Elijah asks, Alex could almost feel every emotion Elijah felt, the concern and distress.
"That's right," Santino says.
"A friend of Alexandra's?" Elijah asks, Santino nods his head.
"You could say that," Santino says.
"I need you to tell me where she is," Elijah demands. "Is she alive?" That was what he wanted to know the most, Alex could practically feel the dread in his memory as he realized what he had said to her before he had left.
"I don't know," Santino says. "Nobody's seen her in two weeks and nobody's heard from her since she left."
"Left?" Elijah asks, he was relieved that she wasn't dead, but where would she have gone?
"Yeah, she packed everything up and took off maybe a week or two ago," Santino says.
"Did she perhaps mention where she was going and why?" Elijah asks, Santino shrugs not knowing the answer.
"She didn't say anything, she kind of left overnight," Santino says. "She was here Sunday and then Monday she was gone." Elijah nods his head processing the information.
"Thank you, you have been of great help," Elijah says. "But unfortunately I believe it is your fault that she became an alcoholic." Alex could feel a shift in emotion as Elijah glared at Santino. "You knew well that she was underaged and yet you still bought her that poison, for what? To fuel your own desirable pleasure?"
"I didn't know she was underaged when I had met her!" Santino says becoming defensive. "And sure we fucked, but she was willing." Elijah wraps his hand around his neck, cutting off his oxygen, Alex stood and watched in horror.
"Yet when she told you how old she was you kept buying," Elijah says. "You disgust me, how could you take advantage of an underaged girl? There is no excuse for that, how many more women would have to suffer before you grow up?" Elijah knew he couldn't preach, he was much older than Alex and Santino combined, but it angered him that a man had taken advantage of a young girl. "You do realize what is about to happen?"
"She was a good fuck." Santino chokes out, his words shocked Alex but what shocked her more was when she saw Elijah drop his body to the ground with his neck snapped.
"ELIJAH!" Alex screams out, Elijah looks up at her as she ran towards him, but before she could reach him he vanished in front of her once again. "Ugh." Alex lets out a frustrated sigh before going back towards the door and leaving.
Alex closes the door behind her as she practically marched down the hallway towards the red door, it dawned on her what he thought of himself.
"You're not a monster, Elijah, not always," Alex mutters to herself. "But you did kill my friend, even if he just wanted sex." She opens the red door and steps inside.
Alex stood in a dark room, bodies scattered the ground and smell caught her off guard, the stench of blood, sweat and death filled her nostrils, she heard a noise and looks up only to spot Elijah draining a body.
"Elijah?" Alex whispers, Elijah stops feeding as he freezes, that's when she knew she was in the right place. "I'm here to help." Elijah lifts the human body and drops it on the ground as he stood from the chair, he disappeared from her sight, but she could feel his presence behind her, she spins around only to see how close they were to each other, she could see the blood dripping from his chin. "Elijah." Even though it was dark she could still see the veins sprouting from underneath his eyes. "No, don't." She takes a step back, Elijah takes a step forward. "Stop it, you know you can't harm me." She hadn't realized that her powers had been neutralized, she could hear a low growl coming from him. "Elijah." A sudden feeling of flight or fight washed over her before she decided to run, she runs out the cabin they were in and into the misty forest, Elijah follows behind her keeping close behind her, she ducks and jumps as she dodges fallen trees on the forest ground and low branches, she didn't have any super-speed like a vampire or a werewolf, but she could teleport, but where could she teleport to when she had no idea where the hell she was.
Alex glances behind her seeing how close Elijah was, she looks ahead of her deciding to teleport just a few feet ahead of, only to come to a dreadful realization that she couldn't, each time she tried it felt like her energy would drain quicker and quicker, as she glanced back at him she trips over a body and lands on the forest ground, she turns around to see if Elijah was hovering above her, but he was missing again, she looks around her and saw more bodies scattered on the ground, she quickly stood from the ground as mud and blood covered her, a shaky breath escapes Alex's mouth, she could feel him behind her, watching her with hunger in his eyes.
"Elijah..." Alex whispers, she turns around only to come face to face with him. "You don't want to do that," Alex hid the fear in her voice, he speeds towards her, his hand wrapping around her neck as he slams her up against a tree, she flinches at a broken branch pierced into her hip. "You need to wake up." He slams her head against the tree, she could hear the sickening crack as her skull cracked, but as quick as the crack was formed it healed, at least one thing still worked in his mind. "Try and kill me, I'll come back each time!" Energy suddenly filled Alex, as if he wanted her to fight back, his mind granted her enough energy, she slams her hands into his chest sending him flying backwards, he lands on his back but was back on his feet in seconds.
"You wanna fight, let's fucking fight!" Alex says as her eyes turn blue, her demonic side quickly became enraged after being naturalized in his mind, it wanted to fight but Alex didn't want to fight, not only did she have to fight off Elijah, she now had to fight for control in her own mind, the bruise that was formed on her neck was healed, showing no signs of Elijah choking her. "Come on." Alex marched towards him and he speeds towards her, they meet in the middle and slam into each other, Elijah's hands around her neck and her hands around his neck. "You think you can neutralize me without consequences?" Her voice was hard and unpleasant, even for Elijah in his monstrous state.
"What are you?" Elijah demands to know, she didn't need air anymore and he realized it just as quickly when her grip around his neck tightened, decided to use his speed and strength he lifted into the air and slammed her down onto the ground, she pulled him down with her keeping her hands tight around his neck.
"Nightmare." Her voice was rough, and something scratched at Elijah's mind that he had to back off, but instead of listening he wanted to prove his dominance in his own mind, his fangs grew from his gums and pushed himself down on her, sinking his teeth into her neck. "AAHHH!" Her scream was piercing in his ear, the grip she had around his neck loosened and now on his shoulders as she tried to push him off, a sudden bright golden light surrounds them and an invisible force pulls Elijah off her, slamming him into a tree and waking him up.
Elijah looks around him, frightened, his eyes fall to the ground where he saw Alex lying on the forest ground breathing hard as she tried to catch her breath, the piercing pain had shocked her demonic side too much, giving her enough time to take control of her mind again, Elijah could see fresh blood on her neck along with blood and mud on her clothes, her hair was a mess with leaves stuck in it.
"Alexandra?" Elijah asks with confusion in his voice, Alex pushes herself into a sitting position to look at him. "What have I done?" Alex stood from the ground, not bothering to dust herself off.
"You angered the demon," Alex mutters, she walks past him going back towards the cabin, Elijah follows behind her as he tried to make senses of what was happening, they enter the cabin and Alex went towards the door that leads into the hallway.
"Alex," Elijah says as he follows her out into the hallway, she turns around to look at him.
"Why didn't you ever tell that you killed Santino?" Alex asks, Elijah takes a step forward only for her to vanish in front of his eyes this time.
