Hi! What does ABO mean?

Oh man this question is so much more than you probably realize haha.

(but oh how I do love giving obnoxiously detailed answers to simple questions)

My explanation is in terms of M/F relationships but it works for most M/M ones as well. M/M is extremely popular and common in ABO. There’s a whole history and nuance behind the conversation of M/M ABO that I won’t get into.

ABO stands for Alpha, Beta, Omega. You may also see people write it like A/B/O, Omegaverse, or Alpha/Omega.

it’s a universe that is set up around a hierarchy structure where people, who are referred to as Alphas (usually men but female Alphas exist in most fics), are the leaders in society. Alphas are physically bigger and stronger than everyone else and typically smart as well. Their nature is to be dominant and often are very possessive. Betas are next in the hierarchy. In most fics they make up the majority of society and are basically just like normal people, the only difference being that they can (in most fics) smell the difference between Alphas , Beta’s, and Omegas. Omegas are the last in the hierarchy, they tend to be smaller and weaker than Alphas and Betas and are generally submissive in nature.

Alphas and Omegas are the typical relationship you see in an ABO fic, they’re biologically wired to be together. Alphas can use a tone of voice, referred to as an alpha command or just a command. This forces Omegas (And in some fics Betas and lesser Alphas) into submission.

( an example of a command; “Stand still,” the Alpa commanded. Her body locked against her will, like there was lead in her feet. she tried to move but couldn’t disobey him, her biology forcing her to submit.)

ABO is connected to werewolf/animal instinct. They all have distinct smells which for Alphas and Omegas can be intoxicating when they come across someone who is compatible with them. Alphas will “claim” Omegas via a bite on a “Mating gland” which usually sits in their shoulder area. In some fics the mating bite can be anywhere. In a lot of fics this claiming bite creates a bond between the Alpha and Omega, sometimes like an invisible string or pull and sometimes telepathic.

The smut is a little different as well. Alphas have something called a knot. When having sex with an Omega their knot will swell inside of the Omega and lock them together. In some fics this happens every time an Alpha comes and in others it’s only during an Omega’s heat.

Omegas have “heats”. The frequency of their heats varies by fic. In some fics it’s once a month, in others once a year. It’s basically intense horniness accompanied by pain, cramps, and slick (tons of vaginal discharge, like what happens during normal smut but just more) that can only be helped by an Alpha knotting them. It lasts 3 days to a week depending on the fic. In a lot of fics Alphas have to claim an Omega during their heat. (or just want to, the instinct to claim being higher during heat) They usually do this from behind, knotting them, pulling them up, and biting the back of their shoulder where the mating gland is. In some fics Alphas also have mating glands that Omegas bite and in others only the Alpha claims the Omega.

Alphas will, in a lot of fics, go into “Rut” when an Omega is in heat. They feel an intense need to take are of the Omega, knot them, and breed them. Sometimes they are in pain as well if they’re not knotting the Omega. In some fics Alphas will go into rut regularly even without an Omega and in others a Rut is only triggered if they come into contact with an Omega in heat.

This universe is incredibly problematic in a lot of ways but specifically with consent. People who don’t like it usually have one of two issues. Either they don’t like the inherent problems around consent that come with it, or they’re turned off by the idea of heat/rut and knots, (Or male pregnancy makes them feel weird. Omega males can get pregnant in most ABO fics). People who enjoy ABO usually like it for the preditor/prey, breeding kink, animal instincts, Dubious consent, dominant/submissive, possessive behavior, soulmate/perfect mate aspects. People who like it also sometimes read and write it to explore ideas around patriarchy or to deal with their own trauma if they grew up in oppressive environments.

None of my werewolf fics have knots or heats/rut, they follow the hierarchal structure, have natural dominant/submissive personalities, and Alphas retain the ability to command. Simple Silver also does not contain knots and heats and is not werewolves. Those would be good ones to start with if you want to try out ABO but don’t want to go all in. I believe all my other fics have both knots and heats. To Be warmed By The Fire (Reylo) is one that’s pretty mild (I mean in terms of heat smut) but does have knots and heat.

obviously pretty much everything I write contains dubious consent/non con so be careful there if you want to read any of my ABO stories.

If you have any questions let me know. ABO can be really confusing and hard to explain well and in depth. I know I probably forgot stuff and there are things I didn’t go into (like pack structures within ABO and Alpha/Beta/Omega triad relationships, and other less common ABO stuff like Deltas and Gammas.)

Oh, and you know I also have an abo marvel fic on my ao3 as well that isn’t on Tumblr. It does contain heats and knots but it’s also a kinda good introduction in a lot of ways because the protagonist doesn’t know she’s an omega and the fic is about her getting used to it. I believe it’s called It’s Just A Lot (I’m like 80% sure that’s the name at least). It’s not a typical Alpha/Omega relationship, the OC is part of a pack with all the avengers. It is also a soulmate fic where they have soulmate marks which is not super common in ABO but also not that weird to see.

World Headcanon - Terra Veteris

Terra Veteris is an Earth-Like planet located in universe 183-WSERIES (On the United Government’s Ministry of Science’s ‘FasTrack’ Coordinate Register). The actual inhabitants of Terra Veteris actually call it Earth, but it is commonly referred to on the M.O.S’s register as ‘Terra Veteris’, a name for both the planet and the universe as a whole.

This is the location of Authrum and it’s capital, Lobarr City, both heavily prominent in the Tetsuwan ATOM series, being the headquarters for the United Government and the Ministry of Science.

This is a brief overview of Terra Veteris as a whole, regarding it’s countries and some notable locations.

The countries are Authrum, Beyis, Evichy, Khrakov, Untera, Harfolk and Niyon.

AUTHRUM

Authrum is conisdered to be the powerhouse of Terra Veteris. It is run by the United Government. It leads the way in industry and technology, everything is made in house, exporting all over the world, resources of all sorts left, right and centre. It also spans the biggest railway network. The whole of Authrum, despite being such a world leader, is culturally in the 1980s, mixed with some 1970s and 1990s Australian/American aesthetic. While mostly a mainland country, Authrum has occupancy of a number of small and large islands in it’s territory, including what was once the north-western corner of Untera, once it’s own nation, but eventually voted to become part of Authrum. This is, naturally, disputed by Untera. In addition, Authrum also occupies the eastern side of the disputed Doglong Strait, part of a long-standing stalemate with it’s direct neighbour, Khrakov. The Strait was once it’s own territory, until split in half due to war in the 1950s.

Authrum is mostly an Australian aesthetic with British and American culture mixed in. They have a democratically elected parliament and senate, along with a prime minister. The president is independent of those elections and acts as an authority on determining the moral and social impacts of legislation, ensuring all laws are within the greater public interest.

Notable locations of Authrum include:

Lobarr City: The very centre of the United Government, where all it’s department buildings are kept, as well as the impressive Railway Station. It in itself is probably the biggest metropolis in all of Terra Veteris, stretching for quite a distance and so incredibly populated. It in itself is architecturally and culturally in the 1980s.

Mobilong: Located in the north, Mobilong is one of the industrial hearts of the country. It is a port, a complex, a town. It provides shipping to the northern islands and territories.

Thalassa Valley: Located in the south, Thalassa Valley is a sacred site, an ancient valley running for quite a stretch. It is also a bit of a country town, but the inhabitants try to preserve the heritage of Thalassa and it’s story in making Authrum what it is today.

Leyvaw River: Part of the giant Metropolitan District of Authrum (which includes Lobarr), the Leyvaw River runs for miles upon miles. Along the river in the Metro district is the NightWatch Facility, an Experimental Concepts building, running the deepest, darkest, most secret projects of the United Government.

KHRAKOV

Khrakov is considered to be the second most powerful country, due to it's size and military might. Like Authrum, it is heavily nationalised,vast in resources which it utilises for it's work. Unlike Authrum, Khrakov is quite behind in the technological race. They do have a number of things, cars, transport, computers, television, etc, but every attempt to one-up or rival Authrum in everything itself has resulted either in complete failure or an abysmal knockoff. Their military is also the second most powerful in the country as well and do have a safety aresenal in the event of being completely threatened. They are currently engaged in a stalemate with Authrum over the Doglong Strait, with Khrakov occupying the western side. They also are monitoring the situation with Harfolk, considering, at this point in time, it borders with them up in the north. They also tend to have small border issues with Evichy and Beyis.

They try not to import what they can't make, even if it's superior. They seem to experience warmer weather, being further south. The aesthetic of Khrakov is distinctly Eastern-European, in it's culture, traditions, etc. They try to be modern, but their aesthetic is a bit behind, stuck in the 1970s. Democracy apparently exists in Khrakov, but really it’s all for one political party.

Notable locations of Khrakov include:

Darkvinkrat: The capital city of Krhakov. Quite the metropolis, but cannot hold a candle at all to Lobarr. It's structured in some way, but it is scattered a bit, depending on who was ruling at the time. Home to all sorts of displays when it's an off-day. Sometimes it's propaganda, sometimes it's promoting the country's culture.

Ronklov Labs: A large, disused facility located in Khrakov's east. Used to be home to Krhakov's experimental research branch until it was discontinued due to lack of funding. Home to all sorts of discontinued, abandoned experiments of all kinds. The place is considered to be haunted.

Beklucha Wasteland: A giant, uninhabited area of Khrakov that's off limits to human access. Such became a wasteland after being selected as the prominent site for Khrakov's destructive weapons testing. A lot of information about the land is considered to be classified and while checkpoints are located on what were once major roads, the site can still be accessible undetected. It is not considered safe to visit, not only due to being illegal, but also due to the site now contaminated, thanks to the different kinds of weapons tested. Some say this is also the dumping ground for Krhakov's larger failed experiments.

BEYIS

Beyis is located to the very west of Terra Veteris. It is a land that has suffered many an internal struggle, with the north and south of the country divided by two different groups of people. The Helenese to the south and the Alpans to the north. It is a mediterranean country, the two cultures extremely similar to one another, but neither can stand the other due to the differences that they've had, both in cultures and in several disagreements. Even in a period of it's history they were split right in half, two countries themselves, Helena and Alpa, until war eventually brought the two together, becoming the united country today known as Beyis. Despite being in union, tensions are still rife between the two groups, and there has been the threat of civil war on a few occasions, until simmered down by other parties. At one stage too, Alpa owned far more land to the east of it’s territory, until the 1950s war resulted it in ending up in the hands of Evichy. It is one of the few disputed territories of Terra Veteris, though the current form of Beyis tries to keep things peaceful with it’s north-eastern neighbour, despite their tension.

They have a few industries to try and keep themselves independent, but they do rely on other nations' economies to make up for the shortfall, a mix of goods from both Authrum and Khrakov, though items from Authrum tend to be of far superior quality. They have a 1960s/1970s kind of mediterranean aesthetic. Beyis is largely democratic and tries to include a split mix of Helenese and Alpan representatives.

Notable locations of Beyis include.

Froma: The capital of Beyis. Literally sits on the border of the Helenese/Alpan line. It’s one of the very few places where you get a melting pot of both cultures. Also a very busy port, shipping goods to and from some of the other countries, like Untera, for example.

Ripidi Mountains: Located in the Alpan North, the Ripidi Mountains is a gorgeous peak that stretches quite a distance. It houses a small town of the same name. Once it was a trek to get to the mountains, but thanks to new technology, the railways in particular helps to make it far easier than it was before. Some say mystery lies in the mountains itself, including a cave that runs for miles, up and down along the peak. What does it hold? Nobody knows. Some say a temple, strange rocks, maybe a monster? Thanks to superstition, nobody has moved to tread inside.. and the Beyis Government forbids any tourist or explorer from trying, fearing great catastrophe will come if attempted.

Takalata Beach: Located in the Helenese South, the Takalata Beach is a long-stretching beach, beautiful and pristine, even with the many tourists flocking to the sunshine. It is a beach that seems to have great weather for the majority of the time. A town has since been made around it with inhabitants cashing in on the value, despite the outcry of some of the more concerned, traditional inhabitants that development will ruin the beach and spell disaster. It doesn’t help that past the beach lies a vast desert, but was only recently populated thanks to the connection of the trains and roads, bypassing the most dangerous areas. Rarely, the beach does experience abrupt violent sandstorms, though the development of outside weather systems has allowed them to better predict when they will come.

EVICHY

Evichy (pronounced Eh-vih-shee) is a country in the northwest. Once a small part of the political game, in modern times acquired Wishlin Island, the Liaque Leg (Formerly the Ciabetti Leg), formerly a part of Beyis, as well as Maulonge, once a part of Harfolk. It wants to establish itself on the world stage, despite taking big risks in it's acquisitions, creating tensions with Beyis, Harfolk and in association with Harfolk, Authrum. Such countries question Evichy's motives, since it's not so much out of conquest as they believe it being scared of it's closest neighbour, Khrakov.

Evichy is distinctly French in culture and aesthetic, based in the 1960s/1970s. They are well known for their refined flair and rich arts. Some of the greatest art in Terra Veteris was painted by Evichese. They are also very dependent on imports, particularly more so from Authrum than Khrakov. They seem to have a particular distrust for the country as a whole, which extends to their goods. Evichy also has some industries going, particularly textiles, their fashion is known right around the world. They also are notable for their vast fields of picturesque flora. Many a botanist come to Evichy just to study the flowers. Evichy is wholly democratic, both for parliament and president.

Notable locations of Evichy include:

Teulais: the capital of Evichy. While a bustling city, the capital is rich in history and architecture, along with culture. Historic festivals, of all sorts including arts festivals, are traditionally held in Teulais. It's landmark is the magnificent Neulois Fountain, a magnificent, towering water fountain that stretches so far upwards. At night, it is lit in so many colours, or sometimes just in white, the light shows a sight to behold.

Liaque Leg: Formerly the Ciabetti Leg. Acquired in the 1950s war, initially to control the Mozzana Strait, but the acquisition was far more than expected. The inhabitants have mixed feelings about it. Many didn't seem to have a problem with the previous Alpan rulers, but many also have no issue with being under Evichy's rule. The leg itself is filled with Alpans and many don't want to get into a confrontation with the Evichese, considering their own issues with the Helenese back in Beyis.

Wishlin Island: The northernmost island of Terra Veteris. Filled with natives and some Evichese. It was once it's own nation until the 1950s war. Many believe it was a senseless power-grab by Evichy during the conflict, but the counter-claim is that the nation was falling apart and that it sought guidance, as well as a historic document from hundreds of years ago as being claimed by the nation of Evichy thanks to sea-faring explorers back in the day. It is a very scenic island and is a very popular tourist destination. The locals are starting to get wary of the attention, however.

Maulonge: Once a part of Harfolk, it was also acquired by Evichy during the 1950s war. The country itself was completely at risk, only just managing to be saved with the intervention of Authrum. As a token, Evichy was gifted with the western land. Still, there are tensions with the countries in question about the land. Harfolk and it’s residents clearly want it back. There is a reason Evichy is after the land, due to what it might hold.. and it’s little parcel is only part of what it seeks. As much as the country does look after the former people of Harfolk, the locals are very resentful of any Evichese that come upon their territory.

UNTERA

Untera (Pronounced Oohn-terr-ah), otherwise known as the Unterreische Fatherland, is the eastern-most country of Terra Veteris. A land of it's own cultures, it is very traditional and regimental in it's ways. Imperialist, though kept to their own territories, it's only neighbour is Authrum. Relations tend to be friendly with Authrum, save for the western chunk of it's northern island now under occupation by Authrum, after it was once it's own nation. Untera wants to re-unify it's territory, but clearly it became independent for it's own reasons, now under Authrum's protection. It is said that Untera is believed to be part of Authrum from centuries ago and it has been stated that the language of Untera is considered to be the ‘Traditional’ Language, but in the 18th century, Untera split from Authrum to become it’s own nation, due to the shift in culture and tensions at the time.

Despite their regimentalism, they were on the side of Authrum in the 1950s war, having avoided the political tensions of Beyis, Evichy and Khrakov. The country is 1970s in culture, distinctly Germanic. It relishes in it's own history, but welcomes foreigners and tourists to discover the history of Untera. They tend to be very defending of their land, but they do not seek to claim any more than what is rightfully theirs... considering the only land that's left belongs to Authrum. They try to be independent with their economy, but tend to have a reliance on Authrum as well outside of private enterprise. Untera is set in old ways of governing, for while you can have democratically elected representatives, it is ultimately run by an emperor.

Notable locations of Untera include:

Galdinburg: The capital of Untera, located on the southern island, known as Sutriche. Galdinburg is probably the oldest looking capital city of it's size, deep in traditional architecture, especially in regards to Government departments. The city is home to a mass transit system that runs all over, both the inner CBD and the edges of the city. The architecture, food, the atmosphere are some of the many reasons come to visit Galdinburg, along with the Linwald Tower, constructed in 1965 to look all over and around the city. The view is spectacular.

Verschleife Peaks: A spectacular landscape of hills in Sutriche. The Verschleife Peaks hosts hills, forests, wildlife, as well as a few villages around who preserve the landscape and all that are a part of it. They do welcome some tourists, as long as they follow the customs and rules to keep the environment intact. They say at night, when the time is right, you can hear a choir sing at the highest hill. The cause for such a particular phenomena, at this time, is unknown, but many theories are circulated about.

Barondul Tower: A historic castle and tower located in Nordruche, the northern island of Untera. Once home to a series of aristorcrats and bureaucrats, the castle and tower now lay haunted, ever since the site of a massacre of all the nobles that occurred in the late 1980s. Abandoned, the buildings themselves have entered a bit of a state of disrepair. Some say the area has become haunted with the souls of the damned.. and that negative energy grows around the tower, especially at the very top. People also say the murdered were living a double life, as beings unnatural to Terra Veteris.

Lhune River: Located in Nordruche, the Lhune river is a lifeline that stretches all along the northern island, even into the section occupied by Authrum. Stretching along forests and valleys, they say the river is a lifeline to all the communities of Nordruche, not only in providing water in itself, but for the ecosystem, as well as being a popular tourist attraction. It tends to glow at night, mostly in a bright shine, but on the right night, you can see all sorts of colours, all throughout the river.

HARFOLK

Harfolk is considered to be the smallest territory in Terra Veteris. It is a country that has been long disputed by several territories, particularly Evichy and Khrakov. Fertile in land, it is the least inhabited, but the most protected. The people prefer peaceful lives. They hate getting into conflict, especially being the subject of several border disputes and having to try and survive the war of the 1950s. They are wary of Evichy, considering the country has the western parcel of their territory, as well as being concerned of Khrakov's rate of expansion. They have an agreement with Authrum for protection, though the other two countries are suspicious as to why. Something exists in Harfolk which Authrum seems to know about, that they are concerned about, that they don't want ending up in the wrong hands. The problem is, what if word gets out?

Harfolk is distinctly English in culture, but they are a bit behind. 1970s in aesthetic, though they are receptive of Authrum's advancements. Who know how far they will grow with such assistance. Lush green lands dot the landscape, good for farming. They don't make much outside of agriculture, relying solely on Authrum for other goods. Since, they trust nobody else, not even Untera or Beyis. Harfolk is wholly democratic, but they do have at least one representative from Authrum.

Notable locations of Harfolk include:

Rikingham: The nation’s capital. A good standing city, modern in it’s own right, though with a bit of heritage here and there. The capital is mostly a business district with some dining and entertainment. Harfolk is pretty big on football and their biggest stadium exists in Rikingham.

Western Border: The Western Border of Harfolk, bordering Maulonge of Evichy. After the territory dispute, the community of Harfolk completely separated the two with a fence that ran right along the border, with checkpoints dotted all over. Welcoming to native and former Harfolk residents, distrusting to those of Evichy. The center of a big political dispute with said country, but naturally Harfolk is wary of Evichy.

Southern Border: Similar to the Western Border, but bordering the edge of Khrakov. This border tends to be heavier in manning, due to the nature and behaviour of Khrakov.

Welbin Plains: The lush plains of Harfolk. Many a world of green grass, even plenty of flora and forests. The most iconic part of the plains not only includes the farmland of many different products, but it has also become quite the wine region. Many award winning wines have come from the Welbin Plains, now available all over the globe (and some even beyond).

Skineland: Skineland is a rumour, of ancient ruins located in Harfolk, including a temple that, while large and vast, hosting many different artifacts, also houses a very large underground network. It is a location apparently only known to some inhabitants of Harfolk, the government of Harfolk.. and the United Government of Authrum. Strange energy radiates from the site, the temple.. but most importantly what is underground. Something is located deep underneath Skineland that has Authrum concerned. While an investigation is underway, the site and everything to do with it is being kept under wraps. Rumours of unlimited power, an energy that could unleash destruction, could be found in the deepest reaches of Skineland, that the name suggests something far greater. Saver for the investigation underway, there are no actual inhabitants of Skineland, having been abandoned for many a millennia.

NIYON

Niyon is an archipelago of islands south of Authrum and Khrakov. It is a land that both encompasses modern technology, while being deeply seated in it's culture. Niyon is friendly with Authrum while wary of Khrakov, however the country keeps well away from political affairs, despite being a powerhouse of production and entertainment. They don't worry about the other countries so much, focussing more on themselves and what they can bring to the world.

Niyon is Japanese in culture and is the most advanced as far as aesthetics are concerned a 1980s/1990s feel, compared to everyone else. While Authrum are still world leaders in the technological side of things, Niyon aren't far behind, despite being much smaller. The islands encompass fields, mountains, forests, when it's not populated by bustling metropolis. Each island still has plenty of shrines regardless, along with traditional villages. There is plenty of agricultural land, even with their industry. Niyon is largely democratic, though the Emperor is considered a Royal position, passed down from parent to child when the parent dies.

Notable locations of Niyon include:

Minkyu: Niyon's capital city. Truly the most modern with the 1990s look. A huge district of business and entertainment, almost like Lobarr City in Authrum. Niyon is a baseball kind of country, it's biggest stadium, naturally, in Minkyu. Expect to see the city lit up in lights and advertisments of all sorts at night. It covers the centre of Inshu, the southern island.

Hokkaini: The western island. Probably the least populated district and the most traditional. Millions make pilgrimages to Hokkaini every year. Populated with shrines and ancient ruins, it’s also the home of the ‘Ancestor’s Fesitval’ celebrating heritage and culture in Niyon, which is also celebrated in Minkyu. Also highly agricultural.

Aishigana: The eastern island. Home of ‘Mount Hoshi’, the tallest peak in Niyon. It is a bit like Inshu in it’s mix of tradition and modern culture, though unlike Inshu, in which suburbia is further and further stretching out, Aishigana has more of a balance. It’s also setting itself up as a tourist attraction, using Niyon’s unique culture and media to create a special ‘Niyonese’ theme park, with both tradition and anime mixed in.

Okaitto: The north-eastern island. Home of Niyon’s manufacturing district, in conjunction with Inshu. Okaitto is a hub of industry and power generation, generally manufacturing vehicles and electrical goods to compete on the world stage, generally against Authrum and Khrakov. It’s home to some decent cities too. You can find some of Okaitto’s traditional roots in the right corners, if you know where to look.

Nabani: The north-western island. Nabani and Okaitto have their own competitive rivalry when it comes to sports. While not as traditional as Hokkaini, it was formerly the capital of Niyon back in it’s Imperial years, with a lot of it’s castles and sites now heritage listed. It does boast a few modern cities regardless, as well as being one of Niyon’s strategic military bases. It’s landscapes tend to make it a good location for filming too, similar to Hokkaini.

He did this often. Laying himself bare for the other women just as they torn off their own clothing willingly for him. It was unfair. He’d be buried literally balls deep within another, yet when a man even sniffed in your general direction 20 feet away, he was throwing a ground shaking fit.

Taehyung says he loves you. He says he only does what he does until the women find a proper mate for themselves. He says it’s the best for the pack; his pack. He promises, swears up and down he loves you. An yet, he refused to touch you like he does them.

You’re not eager for sex, nor are you craving his sensual touches. No, you just wanted his attention for once for more than 10 minutes. Something- anything- to prove his promises fruitful and your dark thoughts wrong.

Having enough, you closed your mind the best you could, tuning out Taehyung like TV static. Then, you ran off. The pack all lived under the same roof of a grand manor in the middle of the woods. A location perfect for bright moon hunting.

You bolted out of that manor, nothing but sleep shorts exposing the tempting peek of the curve of your ass with a matching cropped shirt. You ran, inhumanly so yet still human formed, to a spot only you and Taehyung knew. Maybe coming to a place that was so Taehyung wasn’t the brightest idea since you wanted him off the brain. It was the only place to escape to for the night. As dawn broke in a few short hours, only then would you head back.

A small waterfall fell over the side of the river as it pools into a lake beneath. Beanth the waterfall was a small indention in the rock. Just large enough to sit and hide behind the wall of water. You did just that treading through the waist deep water and jumping through the strong downfall.

Now, you saw with your knees to your chest, a slight chill to your wet frame and completely alone.

You sighed and as time ticked on, you felt more and more drowsy. Soon enough, you had laid down on the rock hard ground and managed to slip into sleep. The sun breaking the horizon as you snoozed and, unbeknownst to you, the manor in which you lived was in frantic chaos.

Taehyung once again laid awake all night, naked and beside some woman he didn’t wish to touch anymore. He never slept when he slept next to someone who wasn’t you. What he was doing ws wrong, he knew that. He would often lay and stare at the ceiling with you running through his thoughts. He’d close off his mind to you so you couldn’t hear him as he thought unadulterated thoughts.

Truth of the matter is, he didn’t need to do what he did. He didn’t need to sleep with his pack. He choose to because he was too afraid of sleeping with you. An obsurd though, yes. Being fearful of laying naked and bare with your mate should be anything but fear inducing. Yet, when he thought of what may happen, a chill would run through his body and gooseflesh would coat his skin.

Though, it was all out of pure excitement. Taehyung didn’t think he’d be capible of much sanity or consciousness if he got to view your full bare, untainted body that belonged solely to himself. He feared he’d lose himself to the Alpha in his head and devour you whole. He didn’t want that, he wanted to love you, not fuck you.

It was when dawn broke when he crawled out of the bed that wasn’t his and dressed in his clothes strewn around the room only to leave it. You were normally awake at dawn, so he always made it a point to go and see you. Though, when he tried to speak to you through telepathy, there was nothing. It was like he was communicating into an empty cave.

Thinking maybe you were still sleeping, he entered your room, yet you weren’t there. He couldn’t get a word from you, no matter how hard he reached out and you were no where in the manor. he couldn’t smell you, couldn’t feel you. You just weren’t htere. He knew you hated when he did this, hated when he touched another. He could tell, even without you voicing it.

You were selfless, and you let whatever happened around you continue, regardless of if you hated it or not. So, when he couldn’t find or reach you, he panicked. What if you left him?

His yell of fustration and a mental link to his pack woke everyone up. His pack up and alert at the tense air of their leader and the missing void that is his lover.

It was 3 in the afternoon when you woke up with a violent shiver. You curled into yourself more, wanting to curl into blankets, but having nothing around you. Momentarily, you had forgotten where you were. When the past came back to you, you looked around. It was late afternoon, and Taehyung wasn’t here.

A part of you wished so deeply he’d come to find you here, in a spot ment for the two of you. So, when he wasn’t near, not even his scent flutering your sense, you let the thoughts take over.

“Maybe he doesn’t really love me?” You voiced as you pushed yourself to sit, rather than lay on the rocky ground.

“Y/n?!” A voice screamed into your head, making you wince. You covered your ears as you opened your mind back up. “Y/n!”

“Taehyung?” There was a pregnant pause. “Taehyung, I think-”

“Where the fuck are you,” he sounded angry. “Tell me where you are before I fuckin’ lose it, Y/n.” What was he talking about? Taehyung caught word of your thoughts, doutbing yourself. Doubting the connection between the two of you. Doubting his love he’s sworn is true. Though, he guessed it was only natural. He hardly acted like a lover towards you.

“I’m at the waterfall,” you whisper.

“Don’t you move. We need to talk,” he said before he completely shut up. You couldn’t tell if he shut his mind again or if he simply stopping talking with you. Whatever the reason, it didn’t matter because 10 minutes later you heard a splash in the water in front of the waterwall before the sound of someone treading through it, only for Taehyung’s body to burst through the stream into sight.

He looked out of breath, worried and scared? It confused you, the misty look in his dark eyes as opposed to how angry he sounded before. He scrambled out of the water as you stood to greet him as easily as you could after another night of doubt.

“Taehyung, listen. I-” you were cut short when you squeaked as Taehyung plowed into your form. His lower half was wet, dripping with lake water as he held you close enough your skin get damp from his clothing. A chill ran over you.

Taehyung felt weak, like is knees were going to buckle. he was a strong, proud standing Alpha, yet the prospect of you disappearing left him feeling worthless. You were his Omega; he didn’t want anyone else. He held you tightly, pulling you tot your toes as his arms caged your neck and shoulders.

You smelt like freshwater and honeysuckles. Looking like absolute sin with those pjs of yours and smelling like a fresh piece of fallen heaven. Yet, your thoughts still haunt him, even if they are directed at yourself.

“Why would you think something like that?” He whispered into your ear. You knew what he was referred to without having to ask. You both knew each other very well, almost too well in the aspect of emotions. You just pushed your face into his chest, keeping your arms at your sides. You wanted to embrace him, but you could bring yourself to lift your arms.

“You know why,” you whispered back. Your voice hurt him. Like you just set off a firecracker at his feet.

“I’m going to stop,” he decreed. “I can’t take this anymore. I don’t want to keep doing what I have been, I want to stop. I want to change. I want to make things better and make sur eyou know what you mean to me. I want to be someone you don’t have to run from. I’m so sorry, and I know it doesn’t make up for anything I’ve done. All the sin’s I’ve committed when I love a single soul. So, don’t go.” He was pleading with you. You’ve never seen him so weak. He wasn’t ‘suppose’ to be, but even if he was an Alpa, he was still partly human too.

“Taehyung. Do you love me?” You were fearful of his anwser for a split moment. He tightened his hold on you.

“Undoubtably. I’d sooner stop my own heart than to see you leave. I chose you for so many reasons. So many reason I can’t name beause they are so complicated to put into words. So many reasons that it’d take centuries to explain how great and vast my love is. But, Y/n I love you. I’m in love with you. I just need you to believe me.”

You knew it was telling the truth. His mind was open completely. Peering into his thoughts, his feelings his emotions running rapid like a raging fire. The love he held for you felt like a safe blanket around you, keeping you safe inside and away from the cold woes of outside.

Finally, you lifted your arms to hold him back just as tightly as he held you.

“I believe you,” you spoke. “Do you really promise you’ll stop sleeping with Betas’? I don’t mind, if it’s for the good of the pack like you say.” You lied as he pulled away, holding your cheeks in his palms and pushed his forehead against yours.

“I’ll quit. I don’t need them and they certainly don’t need me. They can go and find other ways of satisfation and soon they can find their own mate on their own journey. I have one; I have my perefect mate. My cute little Omega. And I intend on keeping her.”

“So, you’ll keep me then?” He smiled, pushing his lips to yours in a kiss you felt you haven’t shared in eons.

“I’d never give you up.”

ILOILO CITY – The public has been encouraged to plant vegetables as one way of ensuring food security and supporting the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat Laban sa Covid-19 (ALPAS) or Plant, Plant, Plant Program.

“Families are encouraged to plant vegetables using available spaces in their backyard or through improvised containers to address food security during this time of health crisis while most of us are staying in our homes,” DA 6 (Western Visayas) executive director, Remelyn Recoter, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Thursday.

The DA has allotted PHP2.6 million for the procurement of vegetable seeds under ALPAS. Since it is still in the procurement process, the target is to distribute the seeds until May 18.

However, the DA High-Value Crops Program has provided 9,473 packets or 251 kg. of assorted vegetable seeds to individuals and groups in the region since it began distribution on April 2.

To inspire the public to plant, the regional office initiated the “Binhi Ko, Tanom Ko, Post Ko” campaign where those who availed of vegetable seeds from the DA are encouraged to post in their social media account pictures of the seeds or the status of their planting activities.

They can use #postyourown veggies and tag the DA - Regional Agri-Fishery Information Division (RAFID) RFO VI Facebook Account.

“Social media is a promising approach to reach our people, to inspire them or get them involved towards a good cause,” Recoter added.

Those who would like to avail of seeds may get in touch with their nearest agriculture office or the nearest DA Outreach Station.

In a previous interview, Recoter expressed her hope that local government units (LGUs) would include vegetable products in the relief assistance for their constituents.

She said this is possible because under the Bayanihan Act and with the national health emergency, they are already allowed to use their calamity funds.

“In their food packs, instead of sardines and noodles, hopefully, there are variations,” Recoter said, adding that vegetables can boost the immune system.

She expressed hope that the LGUs would procure the produce of their farmer-constituents so they still have income amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, based on available data, Recoter said Western Visayas remains sufficient in rice, livestock, and chicken.

Rice harvest from January to February and the March projection was at 410,000 metric tons while the region’s quarterly demand is only 262,000 metric tons.

The region is 156 percent rice sufficient, she said.

On the other hand, Western Visayas had a 250-percent sufficiency level in terms of hogs in 2019.

Based on the hog inventory in January, the per capita consumption monthly is less than 1 kg., she said.

The available supply is at 28,000 metric tons and the annual demand is 5,000 metric tons.

“Since there are no more tourists, we have sufficient supply of pork, more than 80 percent of our swine industry is being grown in backyards,” Recoter said.

She said the region has 10,234 metric tons of chicken supply as of the end of March and has plenty of poultry integrators and large poultry farms. (PNA)

FIVE SUCCESS MANTRA OF EVERY STUDENT

Every individual on this planet is a student in life as in Sanskrit we say “Vidyarthi”

Where “ vidya “ is knowledge and “arthi” means one who desires knowledge.

There is a beautiful Sanskrit verse which says that each one of us should possess these five qualities as in Sanskrit is called “ Pancha Laksham”

The verse says:-

“Kaak cheshta bako dhyanam.

Swan nindra tathaiwa cha

Swalpahari, grihtyaagi,

Vidyarthi panch lakshnam.”

Therefore every student must have these five features or five characteristics-

KakaChestha- “ kaka” means crow and “ chestha” means effort. We all are familiar with the story of the crow right from our childhood days. The crow that was thirsty and flying around looking for some water. Then the crow found a pitcher of water. As the crow landed itself on the rim of the pitcher and looked inside at the contents, he found that the water was there but was lying at the bottom of the pitcher and in no way it could drink the water by putting its beak inside as its beak was small to reach the bottom of the pitcher. The crow started to think what can be done! It then had a brilliant idea. It started looking around and started picking up tiny pebbles in its beak. It then started putting the pebbles one by one inside the pitcher. The crow kept on trying hard until the level of the water rose way up the rim of the pitcher and the crow was able to quench its thirst. Therefore “kakachestha” refers to patience, hard work and the efforts and perseverance of the crow. Same is that with a student’s life if we have to work on our lives we have to truly bring out what is within outside, then we have to go through some painful sharpening of “ kakachestha” that’s extreme hard work!.

“ BakoDhyanam”- “ Bako” means crane “dhyanam” means focus. Which means intense or extreme focus like a crane? When we look at the crane standing on one leg completely focused in the water. What is it doing? With one pointed attention it’s looking at the waters. It’s observing the fishes swimming inside the water. The crane allows all the tiny fishes to swim around and waits for the big fish to arrive. Now if the crane settles with the small fish, it will lose the big fish so in order to get the big fish the crane allows all the small fishes to pass by. Same is the student’s life, when we want to achieve big things, we need to allow small things to pass by and not get distracted by the little things, like interpersonal conflicts, health crises, financial crisis and so many other things around us. But let this small things pass by and let’s stay focussed on what’s more important.

“ShwanNidra” – “ Shwan” means a dog and “ Nidra “ means sleep. This means sleep of a dog or to be more precise the alertness of a dog. We all have noticed that a dog is very alert to the surroundings even its eye are closed. With a little sound the dog immediately opens its eyes. What do we derive from this? All those who want knowledge in their lives and want to pursue that is meaningful in life have to practice the quality of alertness. Sometimes we may have our eyes closed literally not doing of what we are doing in our lives but we shouldn’t miss out to be alert to the world around us. There is lot to learn in the world from people, objects, from situations and from surroundings. We will only learn when we are only alert.

“ AlpaHari” – “ ahar” in Sanskrit means food and “ alpa” means less. So literally alpahari means that a vidyarthi, one seeking knowledge should eat less. It doesn’t mean that it is implied by the word though. We have varieties of ahar , like for example- for our tongue we have food, for our ears we have sound , music ,talks.. For our eyes we have sights of people, beautiful panoramic scenery etc. Means for each of our senses we have “ahar”. therefore when this verse says that a vidyarthi should be alphahari it means we should be careful of what inputs that we give to our senses that actually goes and makes a very deep indelible impression on our psyche, on our inner system and that in Sanskrit is called “Sanskara”. We sometimes give so many inputs to our senses and they leave an indelible mark, sometimes inerasable mark on our consciousness and our minds. Therefore, when we talk about “alphahari” it means we should be very careful to choose those sensory inputs which are of values and those things that we want our mind space to be filled with. Do not subject yourself to unwanted things in the world around us, which will go and occupy your precious mind space that shouldn’t be taken by unwanted, less valuable and less priority things. Your Mind space is meant and reserved for the most important and valuable things.

“ GrihaTyagi” – “griha” means home and “ tyagi” means give up and leave. In the ancient eastern world of India students would leave their home at an early age and go to study under the teachers or gurus in the school which was called “Guru Kula”. “ Grihatyagi” means leaving home to go in pursuit of knowledge. In its real implied sense, “grihatyagi” doesn’t mean leaving home, it means leaving our comfort zone. Leaving our comfort zone of our day to day work space and gain knowledge. Which is what as we say “no pains no gains”.

Thus to summarise the life’s lesson or the mantras for a student to be very successful are just to adapt these five qualities very sincerely:-

KakaChesta:- Put the effort or perseverance of a crow.

Bakodhyanam: Develop your focus like a crane.

Shwannidra:- Act like the alertness of a dog.

Alpahari:- Always give right inputs to your senses.

Grihatyagi:- coming out of your comfort zone.
