Roofing Tips That Save You Money!
If you want to extend the life of your roof and maintain good curb appeal, here are 2 tips that will help!
If you have an older roof, have regular roof inspections. A licensed roofer will know what to look for and could possibly do minor work if needed to avoid any major repairs or replacement in the future. Ignoring a roof leak, if you have missing tiles or shingles will only make for a major problem and could be an expensive mistake.
Tip #1
Have regular roof inspections.
We will check for missing shingles or missing/broken tiles.
We will check for torn flashing and the sealant for cracking or damage.
Tip #2
Keep your gutters and downspouts clear of debris.
If your gutters are full of leaves and twigs/branches this can clog your gutters and the gutter won't be able to serve it's purpose by channeling water away from your home.
Inspect your gutter and downspouts for any leaks, you can even do this with a water hose or simply observe when it's raining.
Make sure the gutters are secured to your home

Gloeocapsa magma travels on the wind — which means if your neighbor has it, your roof has probably been exposed as well. It thrives in moist environments and can get nutrients from dust in the air. It is more likely to appear on the north and west sides of the house. According to the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA), there’s no scientific evidence that algae is damaging to asphalt shingles. Yet it can definitely affect the appearance and resale value of the home. And by darkening the roof, it can negatively impact long-term performance of highly reflective cool roofs.
That’s the bad news. The good news is that Gloeocapsa magma is both treatable and, if you plan ahead, preventable.

ENERGY STAR® rated shingles provide all the protection you expect for your roof while also helping increase the energy efficiency of your home. A cool roof is designed to reflect solar energy, decreasing the amount of heat that's transferred to your home's interior and the amount of air conditioning needed to keep it comfortable.
When installed properly, energy-efficient shingles can offer savings on energy bills. Reflective roof products can also reduce UV damage and extend the life of the roof. Many cool roof products qualify for energy rebates and incentives.
We specialize in all roofing materials and have many resources to get exactly what you are looking for in southwest Florida.

Hire A Professional Roofer For Repair Or Replacement!
Homeowners will always attempt to do home improvements, but when it comes to your roof there are many reasons why you should hire a professional & licensed roofer. There are many risks in taking on a home improvement project if you are uncertain of what to do, and your roof is no exception.
Here a few reasons why you should consider hiring a professional and licensed roofer in southwest Florida:
There's a risk of falling off the roof or the ladder: When you choose to repair or replace the roof of your home it is important to realize the risk involved with falling and causing a serious injury. These accidents occur frequently. Knowledge, balance, and agility are needed in roofing that only experience can give.
Replacing a roof is time-consuming and an exhausting job: Unless you have the expertise or time to accommodate and complete this type of job, it's best to leave it to a roofing expert! Roofing needs to be taken off and put back on in a timely fashion to avoid damage to the roof’s underlayment that can occur when it is left uncovered for any amount of time. A professional roofer knows how to work diligently to complete the job while protecting your home. Many roofing jobs we work on can be removed and replaced on the same day.
Think About Warranty: Professional roofers offer a warranty on their work and explain manufacturer warranties. Often times, if you roof your home and it isn't done properly you may void all manufacturer warranties. With experience comes developing a process which helps prevent missing any crucial steps in the repair or replacement process.
Insurance Coverage: We will even help you throughout the insurance claim process. If your roof has been damaged by a storm or by natural cause’s, homeowner's insurance will most often cover the materials and labor needed to repair or replace the roof.
Roofing repair or replacement are home improvements that are best kept with a licensed roofer. Your roof protects your home and everything inside.

Clay tile roofing is a popular roofing option in Southwest Florida and it may be because it offers the longest life-expectancy of any roofing material. They are chosen for their stunning curb appeal but also note they are fire resistant and can resist damage from hailstones as large as 2″. Typically, tile roofs require little maintenance, but a homeowner should schedule regular roof maintenance that can remove contaminants that affect the appearance and performance of a clay tile roof.

Tile roofs are known for their durability but will still need regular inspections to check for cracks or possible water intrusion. To avoid the inherent danger associated with walking on a roof, we recommend that only licensed and insured professional roofers check on your roof when needed. Tile is fragile, you can damage your roof by walking on it. If you have any damaged tiles they should be replaced immediately. A chipped tile becomes a broken tile which can compromise the roof. Was your home built prior to 1992?
Did you know?
The use of staples as fasteners to hold rafters to walls was banned in Florida construction following Hurricane Andrew in 1992. If your home was built before that, the roof might be susceptible to high-wind events.
While homeowners in hurricane zones should consider a retrofit for their home when replacing the roof, such retrofits are required in all Florida counties since 2007 as stated in the Florida Statute 553.844.

Hurricane Irma - Roof Damage?
Some of us in Southwest Florida was fortunate to not have much or any damage from Hurricane Irma. If you didn't have your roof inspected for damage, you probably should! Here are a few things you can try at home before calling a contractor:
Inspect your attic (during the day) - If you notice any daylight coming through or feel a breeze, this will need immediate attention. - If your roof has not been repaired from Hurricane Irma damage, it's time to check for mold.
Look for damage from the ground up - Can you see any missing shingles or roof tile? Any shingles that are lifting? Any tiles that look broken? - If you have asphalt shingles, do you have any dark patches or does the color look different? Bare patches can result in UV damage and could lead to a future leak. - Can you see if your flashing is still in place? If not in place, this leaves another opportunity for water intrusion.
If you think you have damage, it's best to call a professional roofer. If you aren't experienced with being on a roof or don't know where to start for a repair you could end up paying more money by doing it alone or risking your life on the roof.
