Either Ramona Flowers, Envy or Kim Pine from Scott Pilgrim Vs The World?
Envy: wanna listen to the album I wrote for you?
Y/N: you wrote an album for me? baby that's so sweet
Envy: twelve songs. an hour and half long
Y/N: that's quite a while
Envy wraps a leg around Y/N's waist and purrs in their ear...
Envy: I'm sure we can find a way to make the time fly
Ramona: can I just say how amazing a lover you are?
Y/N: thank you. but i'm nothing without you
Ramona: I've never known a better lover
Y/N: that's sad. I promise I'll spend the rest of my life making sure you feel every ounce of love you deserve.
Ramona: you already do. now let me show that back to you
Kim: hey loser, I love you
Y/N: i love you too, winner
Kim: i'm not use to being called that.
Y/N: well you are one.
Kim: y-you're not a loser.
Y/N: just switch out the S in loser for a V and well call it even.

I enjoyed the hell out of Trap (2024).
It really exceeded my expectations and subverted them. This was the perfect sized movie. It never went too far or too big. It was well contained in the story it was telling. It was fun and thrilling
Spoilers
Josh Hartnett really terrified me. He was so good in this role. I love that it was watching this man trying and failing to keep his cool as his secret existence is crumbling.
I love that it wasn't him going around killing innocent people in his attempts to escape. I'm very tired of watching people get killed.
I had very different ideas for what this movie was going to be. I thought it was going to be more killing to escape that turns into reverse Die Hard. I thought it was going to lead to Hayley Mills at the end being like, "Everything you've done is exactly as we planned. You fell right into our trap. The girl with the grease was a little hiccup." As Jamie slips on his FBI vest and stands beside her. I'm really glad it wasn't that.
I was thrilled.
"You little beast!" Had me rolling.
Allison Pill. My goodness. That scene had me on the edge of my seat terrified for her.
Lady Raven has bops.
The Thinker! Kid Cudi has never had a bad cameo.
Jamie! This is either his go-to story for life or he never tells anyone about it ever.
Sure, some of the expository dialogue is pretty clunky, but who cares? I don't.
You can't go wrong with surprise, Hayley Mills!

Remember they brought on Riker and Deanna in the last episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, and how offensive it was that Enterprise wasn't even allowed to finish their own show?
That's exactly what Star Trek: Next Generation has done to Star Trek: Picard. Except instead of displacing the Picard cast for the last four minutes, they displace the Picard cast for an entire season. For 1/3 of the entire show's run.
All of the Picard characters, except Picard himself, have been shunted to the side and are no more than wallpaper on the set- *IF* they are in the season at all. ONLY the Legacy TNG characters men matter. All of the Legacy TNG women do nothing but give the men someone to talk to or someone to rescue. They are furnishings that come with the ship. They are ghosts with no identity, no purpose.
Seven, who is one of the most dynamic Legacy Trek characters ever, and who was, for the first two seasons, integral to the story whilst simultaneously having her own thing going on, is diminished to taking abuse ad being dead-named from Shaw for most of the show, not being able to even be in the same room as her lover, and sitting in the shadows existing entirely so that Picard and his son can have someone to talk to.
Raffi, Ro Laren, Shelby- it's like they don't exist. Juratti and Laris are rarely acknowledged as even existing. You could digitally paint Seven out of most of her scenes, and almost nothing would change about the scene itself. You could digitally paint out most of these women and 90% of their scenes would barely change. And they fucking fridged Ro Laren.
How the cast of Star Trek: Enterprise felt about having TNG come in and take over their show at the 11th hour? That is how the Star Trek: Picard cast should feel, but worse because they were brought in at the 7th hour, not the 11th.
Matalas' hard-on for TNG men trauma-dumping and saving the day has done far more damage to Star Trek: Picard than that awful Enterprise ending ever could.
Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Orla Brady, Allison Pill, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera all deserve to be furious, right now. We all do.
youtube
Even Jonathan Frakes acknowledges having him on Enterprise 'wasn't a great idea.' And yet he doesn't seem to have a problem with coming on Picard in season 3 and essentially taking over the entire show, pushing aside every one of the original Picard cast members, including Jeri Ryan.
He and Marina Sirtis have done the same thing, twice- coming into a show that was NOT about TNG, and by their mere presence, it becomes about TNG.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
TRAP is the most fun I’ve had with a M. Night Shyamalan film in almost a decade. It’s silly, outrageous, and a killer good time. The fact that it stars Josh Hartnett has absolutely nothing to do with my enjoyment, I’m sure!
The film follows Cooper (Hartnett) and his daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue) as they attend a Lady Raven (Saleka Shyamalan) concert filled with 30,000 exuberant fans. There also is a substantial police presence - Taylor Swift doesn’t have this kind of security at the Eras Tour! We quickly find out that Cooper isn’t just the lovable hot dad he’s presenting to the world, he’s a serial killer, and a vicious one. Now he’s got to outthink the cops and a brilliant profiler (Hayley Mills, a long way from THE PARENT TRAP) before he’s discovered. To say anything more would be a disservice to Shyamalan, the film, and to you. All I will say is that if you thought the marketing spoiled everything, it didn’t.
Hartnett is delicious in this role, and not just because of his looks. When an actor gets to play against type, it’s always exciting to witness, and this is no exception. Allison Pill also makes a memorable appearance as Hartnett’s mousy wife, Rachel. The standout here, however, is Shyamalan’s daughter Saleka as Lady Raven. Nepo Baby or not, I couldn’t take my eyes off of her when she was onscreen! She portrayed the confidence and loneliness of a pop star with precision, and I really hope we start seeing her in more things after this.
The mind games on display through this increasingly ludicrous plot are never less than smile inducing. It’s just so damn fun! All I know is that if Taylor Swift wanted to make real change in the world, she definitely has the power and should maybe take a few lessons from Lady Raven. Definitely see this on the big screen, and stick around for a mid credit scene that will make you giddy.
3.5/5

Hello Tomorrow! - Season 1 (2023) Review
Feels like a missed opportunity that this show didn’t once make use of the hit pop song Reach (For the Stars) by staple band S Club 7. Yes, this show is set in a retro 60s, but S Club 7 is fitting for any era of time!!
Plot: In a retro-futuristic world, charismatic salesman Jack Billings leads a team of fellow sales associates determined to revitalize their customers' lives by hawking timeshares on the moon.
Recently I have been trying to validate my Apple TV+ subscription, as in the current day and age where there are a gazillion various streaming services, one has to question which ones are worth the monthly buck. In regards to Apple TV+, the main reason I had the subscription in the first place was due to getting the first year for free with my purchase of the iPhone 11 back in 2020, however that one free year has long gone, and the only main reason having it now is seeing a moustachioed Jason Sudeikis inspire and charm us all in the amazing Ted Lasso series. Speaking of which, my fiancée has just bought me a Ted Lasso Build-a-Bear and I am sorry but I must state that this thing is cute as fudge! It has no right to be this adorable! My sweet Teddy Lasso! Anyway, aside from that, Apple TV+... What is it good for? That’s what I’m discovering, hence why I recently watched the Shrinking show and the Tetris movie. All enjoyable in their own right and feel free to browse my reviews on those earlier on this blog. Yep, that was some shameless self-marketing, and I could not care less. As for my next Apple venture, I have just finished watching Hello Tomorrow!, the season finale of which has just aired, and naturally here I am, your humble servant, talking about my thoughts on the project at hand.
Hello Tomorrow! brings us a retro futuristic world of the 1960s that has been upgraded with very helpful robots that for once aren’t trying to take over the world like in the recent Atomic Heart video game, but instead are only in the background, and more so this is a show about hope and opportunity and dreams. Or at least the single idea of this, as what we have is actually a bunch of con-artists trying to sell to a bunch of gullible simpletons the dream of living in a luxury residence on the moon. Not that I personally see anything appealing about living on the moon, as the grey desert landscape seem to be pretty dull of a locale to look at when walking out of your bedroom onto the balcony, yet these folks seem intent on wanting to go there. Each to their own I guess. Then again this does seem like yet another interpretation on the fabled American Dream - the idea all poor and desperate do their best to strive to, but in turn never reach. In a nutshell we have ourselves a sci-fi critique of capitalism wrapped in a tailored 60s suit. Does it work? Not always. At 10 episodes long, the show does fall into a sense of repetition where we discover early on that the entire idea of living on the moon is all a con, so the show then lingers with the whole ‘will they/won’t they get caught’ case, but without much resolution until the final episode that does offer a multitude of cliff-hangers, evidently in hope of another season renewal. However judging at how Hello Tomorrow! isn’t present on Apple TV+’s Top 10 charts I’m sensing said renewal is very questionable.
The cast are all superb and what make the show so watchable. Billy Crudup’s Jack is simply dripping with pools of charisma and charm as the main salesman and the brains behind the operation. With his wide smile and dapper suits, Crudup is totally believable as a businessman who would totally get folks to belief in this unbelievable dream. Yet his colourful sales team is worth a mention too. Haneefah Wood is immensely likeable as the straight headed righthand woman Shirley, and one that would fit right at home in the offices of Glengarry Glen Ross, where Alec Baldwin would proclaim proudly those famous sales words: “always be closing!”. Dewshane Williams is the ambitious Herb, who is so idiotic and under his wife’s leash that he may secretly just be a genius. And Hank Azaria rounds up the sales team with his usual offbeat persona. Then there’s Nicholas Podany as Jack’s long lost son who gets corrupted by Jack’s sleazy teachings, and their estranged father-son relationship being at the heart of this show. Jacki Weaver pops up in a couple of episodes too as Jack’s wisecracking mother, and Weaver is always a weirdly energetic presence.
Look, Hello Tomorrow! doesn’t break any new ground. Its yet another show about con-men conning innocent gullible people, only in this case the retro setting adds more flair and style to the proceedings. The entire show honestly rides on Billy Crudup’s charismatic lead performance. He’s a sleazebag from beginning to end, yet he manages to convincingly be devilishly likeable and sympathetic, so much so that he manages to get himself lost in his own lie of this ridiculous dream. His Cheshire cat-like grin brings out the ‘character you love to hate’ type, yet one you’re happy to go on this journey with. Jack is a liar and a cheat, but he’s also a dreamer. And in a show that’s all about reaching for the stars, that’s all too relatable.
Overall score: 6/10
