i know i do this quite a lot already but before i disappear into nothingness i wanna talk a bit about someone called lando norris.
born 13th november 1999, in bristol. his father is english, and his mother is belgian. he holds dual british and belgian citizenship. he barely speaks either language. he has three siblings, two younger sisters and one older brother.
in 2010 he placed 3rd in super 1 national championship, and then 2nd in 2011. in that same year he won formula kart stars and placed 3rd in copa de campeones. in 2013 he won the wsk euro series, the cik-fia european championship and cik-fia international super cup while placing 2nd in the wsk super master series.
in 2014 when he was 14, he placed 3rd in the ginetta junior championship with 4 wins, 11 podiums, 8 poles, 2 fastest laps and 432 points in 20 races.
a year later, he partook in the msa formula championship with carlin where he placed 1st, beating ricky collard and then teammate colton herta. that same year he also raced in the inaugural season of adac formula 4. he entered in 8/24 races, won 1 race and got 5 other podiums and ended in 8th place out of 51 drivers.
2015 also saw him race in the italian formula 4 championship where he placed 11th after racing in 9/21 races, and the brdc formula 4 autumn trophy where he placed 5th after racing in 4/8 races.
2016 was a busy year for 16-year-old lando. as a rookie he won both the eurocup formula renault 2.0 and formula renault 2.0 nec with josef kaufmann racing, and also the toyota racing series - also as a rookie.
he drove 11/24 races in the brdc british formula 3 championship, winning four races and getting on the podium for four others, resulting in an overall p8. he drove as a guest (ineligible for points) for carlin in the fia formula 3 european championship and placed 11th in the macau grand prix after having started the race p27.
in 2017 lando entered the fia formula 3 european championship with carlin. he won the drivers' championship with 441 pts. during 30 races he won 9 times, got on the podium 11 other times, got 8 poles and 8 fastest laps. he became the first non-prema driver to win the championship.
he also won the fia formula 3 european rookie championship with 628 pts, beating drivers like jehan daruvala and mick schumacher.
in the macau grand prix that year, he placed 2nd. he made his debut in round 11 of the fia formula 2 championship with campos racing, replacing ralph boschung, retiring in the feature race and placing 13th in the sprint race.
also in 2017, lando was signed as a junior driver with mclaren. he tested for mclaren in a scheduled mid-season test and set the second-fastest lap in the second day of testing at the hungaroring. later that year he officially became the mclaren test and reserve driver for the 2018 season.
in 2018 he entered the formula 2 championship with carlin. as a rookie, he placed 2nd with 1 win and 7 other podiums. current f1 drivers that competed alongside him are george russell, alex albon and nicky latifi.
he also drove daytona 24h with fernando alonso and phil hanson in a prototype car on continental tyres, recovering 33 seconds in 20 laps.
2019 was his rookie year in f1, the youngest british f1 driver of all time at age 19. he was partnered with carlos sainz at mclaren. that meant mclaren had a brand new driver line-up, with carlos having signed a two-year deal after a two-year stint at renault. lando finished 11th in the drivers' championship with 49 points, while carlos scored 96 points. lando did outqualify carlos at 11/21 races. during this season lando signed a new contract keeping him at mclaren until 2022.
due to covid the 2020 season started in july, and it started with a bang with lando qualifying p4 (elevated to p3 because of a hamilton penalty, the highest grid position of lando's career at the time and the highest for mclaren since the 2016 austrian gp). lando finished the race p3, getting his first f1 podium and his first fastest lap (he got his second at the turkish gp). scenario 7 lando was born. this also made lando the third youngest podium-finisher in f1 history (a record formerly held by jenson button). he finished p9 in the end, with 97 points, almost doubling his 2019 points. carlos finished 6th with 105 points but once again, lando out qualified him 9/17.
2021 was lando's best year in f1 to date. he got a new teammate, daniel ricciardo, who, like carlos, came from a two-year stint at renault. lando amassed four more podiums this year, three p3's and one p2. he started on the first row for the first time when he got p2 in quali in austria, but went on to do better as he got his first pole in sochi, and a first real shot at a win while also recording the fastest lap at the same race. he finished the season in p6 with 160 points, 45 more points than his teammate. he also out-qualified dan 14/22. this year he also set a record for consecutive points finishes for a mclaren driver, with a streak of 15 races in the top-10. the record was previously held by two-time world champion fernando alonso. lando signed a new contract locking him down at mclaren until the end of the 2025 season.
the 2022 season isn't over, but while the car hasn't really been up to speed, lando has done everything and more to keep mclaren in the p4 fight. he has one podium, a p3, the only driver outside of rbr, ferrari and merc, and he has 109 points, 79% of mclaren's 138 points. he's currently p7 in the standings, behind the rbr, ferrari, and mercedes drivers.
he also did all three days of preseason testing in bahrain after daniel fell ill, raced in monaco with tonsillitis securing the fastest lap and has only once, in 79 races, been eliminated in q1 (never this year). he has made it to q2 since silverstone 2019, one of the longest streaks of any current driver on the grid.
in 2016 he won british club driver of the year and the mclaren autosport brdc award at the autosport awards.
in 2018 he won national driver of the year at the autosport awards.
in 2019, 2020 and 2021 he won british competition driver of the year at the autosport awards.
in 2021 he was nominated for fia personality of the year at the fia prize giving awards, alongside drivers such as max verstappen, lewis hamilton and sebastian vettel.
tldr; lando isn't just someone who stumbled into f1 back in 2019 with nothing to show for it, with no accolades or experience on his back. does he have a disproportionate amount of privilege coming from a wealthy family? of course, he does, but so do most of the grid in one way or another. whether it's monetary, being connected to the former president of the fia or getting personally invested in by a team principal of an f1 team when you're still in karts.
there are a lot of talented drivers that never get into f1 because of reasons; there are some drivers who lack the talent to drive an f1 car yet still get into the series. lando doesn't fit into either category. he's there because of a lot of things, but the main ones are talent, speed, dedication, teamwork, focus, preparation and the willingness to learn and partake in building a car for the future, whether it's giving feedback through sim work or working with the mechanics to figure out how the car works.
tldr2; lando deserves to be in the sport, on the grid, to be lauded and loved and applauded.

S.N.A.F.U- A Daniel Ricciardo FanFic CH40 ‘Planning’
The following race in Russia was much less successful for McLaren than the team would have liked. Daniel finished the race in Sochi in fourth after a strong start and despite the success of obtaining his first career pole position Lando stayed out too long on degraded tyres and aquaplaned in the wet conditions on turn 5 running off the track before returning to the track and pitting only to finish seventh virtually snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. With a two week break til the sixteenth race of the season in Turkey Daniel returned to London the day after the race and was met at Heathrow Airport by Eadaoin.
“Hey, how was your flight?” she asked greeting him with a quick peck on the lips.
“Not bad,” he said “just keen to get home.”
“How’s Lando?” Eadaoin asked sympathetically “was he on the same flight?”
“Nah he’s taking what happened in Sochi pretty hard and took the red eye out of Moscow this morning,” Daniel replied “he said he was going to chill back at his parents place in Bristol for a few days. Poor guy, everyone in the team has been trying to make him feel better but there’s nothing we can do that is helping.”
“Well sometimes to feel better you just need to wallow in misery for a few days first,” Eadaoin said philosophically “to be fair he had a pretty good race overall.”
“Yeah I know he did but that move was done out of inexperience and he’ll learn and get through it, we just have to let him come to terms with it all on his own terms,” Daniel said with a sigh “Andreas was pretty happy with the team’s effort overall and we were both in the points which is better than a DNF.”
“Well onwards to Istanbul now but first pizza, want to eat out or in?”
*******************************************************************************************
Two days after returning from Russia and as soon as Eadaoin left for work Daniel set up his laptop in Eadaoin’s office then sent a text to Donnacha, Roisin and Cahir.
Hi it’s Danny, can I get all three of you on zoom? I want to do it before Eadaoin gets back to the house.
Daniel quickly received a ‘yes’ and ‘of course’ from Donnacha and Roisin.
“Sorry I was literally armpit deep in equine afterbirth came Cahir’s reply several minutes later “can you give me an hour to get home and clean up? I stink and you do not want to see me covered in equine afterbirth!
Affirming he was fine with this Daniel organised a time ninety minutes later. He passed the time having a run on his treadmill in the gym room before showering and returning to his office, excitement pooling in his belly. Roisin was the first to come online and immediately started peppering him with questions.
“So what’s up?” she asked “it’s unlike you or Eadie to zoom us at this time of the night. And it’s unlike you to keep secrets from her.”
“I’ll tell you when everyone’s online, promise,” Daniel replied with an enormous grin “but trust me it’s a good surprise and something you’ll-or I hope you’ll be up for.”
“And it concerns Eadie?”
“Yes.”
And despite being peppered with questions Daniel refused to elaborate until five minutes later when Donnacha and Cahir came online.
“Alright come clean why are you zooming us at midnight our time?” Cahir asked.
“And obviously keeping that from Eadie.” Donnacha added suspiciously.
“I’m planning something for her birthday next month,” Daniel confessed “and as her family and those closest to her I wanted to get you all involved but surprise her at the same time.”
“This’ll be good,” Cahir said with a snort of laughter.
“Her actual birth date you have probably realised by now is on the day of the US GP,” Daniel continued “I’m already bringing her to the US so I can celebrate the occasion with her because I won’t be able to come home straight away because I have a load of work related stuff I’m contracted to do sooooooooo....”
“Here we go....” Donnacha said
“Dun dun.” Cahir added perfectly mimicking the Law and Order theme.
“I want to pay your way to the US so as her family you can celebrate her birthday with her.” Daniel finished
“Are you drunk?” Cahir asked as Donnacha and Roisin were stunned into silence.
“Not at nine thirty in the morning I’m not,” Daniel replied with a grin “Eadie and I have a double date with Max and Kelly at my favourite restaurant in Monaco next weekend and I might get drunk then but right now? No sober as a judge.”
“Son why do you want to go to that expense?” Donnacha asked incredulously “to fly the three of us to the States would cost you thousands of dollars.”
“I know but I can afford it and it’d be worth it just to see Eadaoin smile,” Daniel confessed “I’d spend anything to see her smile. Plus she really misses you guys and Australia in general and with her new job and the various COVID travel restrictions around it’d be easier for you three to come out here than for her to go home to Adelaide. It’s been two whole years since she’s seen you and I know it would make her the happiest woman in the world if she could spend a week or two with you.”
“You know it really is nauseatingly sweet how considerate and thoughtful you are when it comes to my sister,” Cahir informed Daniel said with a chuckle.
“Mate I love her,” Daniel said simply “and I want her to be happy and I know if you could come to the US to celebrate her birthday she would be happy more than happy.”
“But it’s thousands of dollars!” Roisin said weakly “and then there’s the accommodation, it’d be expensive to find anything now especially with the race only a month away.”
“Roisin trust me when I say I can afford it,” Daniel said “I’m not one to piss my money up against the wall; I’ve long since gotten over the thrill of having a disposable income that most people would dream of. My folks brought me up to only spend my money on something worthwhile, something that isn’t superficial and that would leave me fulfilled and reuniting you guys is the very opposite of superficial and this is wholly worthwhile. You, Donnacha and Cahir don’t have to worry about accommodation either. Just say you’ll come and I’ll organise everything.”
“You really are serious aren’t you?” Donnacha said fixing Daniel with a firm stare.
“Like a heart attack,” Daniel said solemnly “I know I could give her a diamond necklace or buy her her own McLaren but they wouldn’t be as meaningful as seeing her family again.”
“Honey it would be good to see her again....” Roisin said to her husband.
“What’s the plan....logistically?” Donnacha asked “we’d just turn up in Austin and go surprise?”
“Not quite,” Daniel replied with a chuckle “I was thinking I’d have you fly into L.A where you could stay a few days to get over jetlag and do whatever you wanted to do then when Eadaoin and I arrive in Austin you fly up say the Tuesday or Wednesday before the race. I could take her out for lunch or something whilst you get settled at the hotel then under then when we return to the hotel I could text you and you could come up to our room and I could surprise her. My P.A Pippa is all on board with the idea and will be the one that picks you up at the airport because it would look bit suss if I suddenly disappeared.”
“Well given all the media and PR stuff you do in a race week you probably could get away with disappearing for a while,” Cahir reasoned.
“Mmm maybe but Pippa’s willing to help,” Daniel replied “so what d'you say?”
“Mam, Dad I’m taking Danny up on his offer,” Cahir told his parents as they ummed and ahhed “I’ve been in the same job for years and I need a holiday. I have like twelve months long service leave saved up and I miss Eadie like crazy. After Austin I can go back to London with her and just bum around a bit, maybe go temping. Stay for Christmas maybe. You guys have more long service leave saved up than I have even.”
“And you honestly don’t mind spending....whatever it’s going to cost?” Donnacha asked.
“Not for a hot minute,” Daniel replied at once “if it cost a million bucks I would do it, reuniting Eadaoin with her family is the best thing I could give her for her birthday. As I said I just want her to be happy, and as her family you do do.”
“Yeah okay we’ll take you up on your offer,” Donna said after a long silence.
“This really is very generous of you Danny, thankyou,” Roisin informed the Australian “it means a lot to all of us that you’re working so hard to make my baby girl so happy. Since you two have become a couple she’s begun to shine like she once did before all that unpleasantness with her ex. She’s the person she used to be and it’s all down to you.”
Daniel felt his face warm as he blushed.
“Aw I don’t know about that,” he said.
“No mate Mum’s right,” Cahir said “you didn’t know Eadie back then and I know she’s told you everything that happened with her ex but you can’t begin to comprehend just how devastated she was. She was damn near suicidal. She’s found a new life in the UK and more recently with you and I think its all down to you. You treasure her, you spoil her, you care for her you’re everything to her and everyone in the family is grateful.”
“Well....I’m glad to have been a part of it,” Daniel replied thickly “just text me the dates you can be away for and I’ll email you all the details yeah?”
“You’re a good egg Danny,” Donnacha said “it’s good to have you as part of the family.”
“Thankyou.”

A/N: Short but sweet today. And for those of you who noticed thanks for putting up with the messing around of the masterlist. I published it without realising it had misnumbered and missing chapters!

Hi, new woso fan here. Can you please explain about the Vitality Cup? I'm still quite new and I don't really understand what is going on...
Hello and welcome! No problem, here goes.
As well as the league competition (FAWSL being the top tier) that runs all season from September-May there are two Cup competitions:
Continental Tyres League Cup - between teams in the top 2 tiers (FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship). There are group stages and then quarter finals, semis and then the final in a neutral location. Those matches are usually played September-February, but because of covid and finishing last season's FA Cup at the start of this season the Conti Cup started later than usual. All matches except the final have been played so far - this season's Final is Chelsea vs Bristol City on Sunday 14th March.
Vitality Women’s FA Cup (Vitality is the sponsor, it was previously sponsored by SSE) - this is between all tiers of women’s football, and so there are various qualification rounds for the lower leagues and then the FAWC & FAWSL teams join in the 4th Round Proper of the competition (there are 13 rounds in total). There are around 300 teams involved and it usually starts with the Extra Preliminary Round in August and runs to the final in May. The final is played at Wembley Stadium and is a fantastic event, it’s been drawing 40,000+ for the last few years. Usually the matches for FAWSL teams are played January-May.
The FA Cup has been massively affected by Covid. The 2019/20 quarter finals were supposed to be played on 15th March 2020 but had to be postponed and were eventually played at the start of the 2020/21 season in September with the Final at Wembley eventually being played (with no crowd) in November.
This season's FA Cup has been very disrupted - as the early rounds are played between 'non-elite' teams in lower leagues they've had to stop training and playing completely during the lockdowns we've had in the UK since the start of the season whereas the FAWC and FAWSL have been able to continue. That means the FA Cup got through the preliminary and qualifying rounds to the First Round Proper (played all games of that round except 1) and then had to stop. There was talk of deciding the next round or two by a coin toss in order to finish the competition this season (which was completely ridiculous) but luckily have decided to restart the games from 31st March as the restrictions should have been lifted enough for the lower leagues teams to start training and playing again.
They've now decided dates for the Second, Third and Fourth Rounds Proper and are in talks for Fifth Round Proper. The quarters, semis and Final will be played at the start of the 2021/22 season in the autumn.
Hopefully it'll all go smoothly from now on, we'll see!
That was a slightly more complicated explanation due to all the covid changes but hope it made sense! Any other questions just let me know.

hi, just wondering if anyone could maybe sum up this interview with lando? or maybe screenshot it? i’d love to do it myself but given the fact that i don’t live in the uk i can’t access it... thanks
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/lando-norris-discovers-importance-of-fitness-hell-need-it-as-daniel-ricciardos-team-mate-bm6lnrdrg
hey Anon! I copied the whole article and put it under the read more!! I hope this helps🧡.
I hope you’re having a good day, Anon! 🧡
McLaren kicked off the 2021 car launches this week alongside their drivers for the season, Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo. The car looks pretty similar to last year, so it was hard to get too excited about it — or any of the other nine launches happening over the coming weeks, for that matter.
Of interest, however, were Norris’s comments about how he plans to approach the physical side of the job: by doing gym work and cutting back on pizza.
“I have tried to be more strict with certain things, whether that is with food and trying not to have a pizza as often,” the 21-year-old said. “I can still have a little treat now and then, but it is also the physical side of it, too. Trying to do more in the gym because I struggle with that part of it.
“I know I am in Formula One and I am in a very privileged position, but that doesn’t matter because I can still struggle to want to go out on a run or go into the gym and lift weights. I struggle to motivate myself, so I have tried more things and pushed myself through moments that I hate because I know that good things come of it.
“I am better prepared physically because of it. I am trying to think outside the box and dedicating more time to work out what is good for me and push myself to the next level.”
The Bristol-born youngster is heading into his third season in Formula One and has been honest in the past about how he does not enjoy the gym — but who does? Three sets of ten squats followed by 20 burpees is no one’s idea of fun. If you want time to go slowly, try doing a plank for a minute.
Yet F1 is extremely physically demanding and there is a reason Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen place great importance on their physical fitness. Hamilton, 36, is also not a fan of the gym, and seems to find new ways to keep fit each year: he has been cross-country skiing to get himself into shape for the new season.
Drivers can be in the car for up to two hours, sometimes in temperatures well above 30C and, aside from the mental toll that takes, their bodies are pushed to the limit physically. If they are not fit enough, performance will decline.
Verstappen collapsed in 2016 after a particularly hot practice session in Malaysia. Drivers can lose between two and three kilograms of weight each race as the demands of hurtling around the track at up to 200mph, putting the body through extreme G-forces, take effect.
If any driver wants to be a world champion, they have to be supremely fit. Michael Schumacher changed the way drivers approached fitness in the Nineties — they were already taking it seriously, but the German upped the ante.
Schumacher would push his body to the extreme during training, building his stamina and strength so that in races, where other drivers might drop off towards the end as they tired, he could continue to push to the limit all the way to the chequered flag. That, coupled with his immense talent, forced the rest of the grid to up their game.
So it is surprising that Norris seems to have only just realised that he needs to increase the physical side of his training, but I suspect that may have something to do with his new team-mate, as well as becoming more mature with age. Norris insists he does not feel any more pressure having Ricciardo in the garage than he did when Carlos Sainz was his team-mate, but he should.
Ricciardo is a seven-times race winner, extremely talented and, at 31, knows that the move to McLaren may be his last chance of a shot at the world title. The Australian is going to be pushing hard. He keeps himself very fit, and also finds novel ways of doing so, including whacking huge tyres in his garden in Perth.
Drivers are always given a bit of leeway in their first years, but Norris no longer has that luxury and he needs to step up and help McLaren challenge at the front of the grid again.
The team’s third-place finish in the constructors’ championship last year shows that the Woking-based outfit are moving in the right direction. Ricciardo is a good hire for the team, bringing with him not only experience but also a fun attitude. Those who worked with him at Red Bull speak highly of his light-hearted personality. That said, his nickname of the “Honey badger” is a nod to his ruthless streak and Norris will know that.
Norris is right to up his game, not only to improve his performance but to help the team and to try to challenge his team-mate. Perhaps they can find new ways to work out together and start a budding bromance to rival the one that Norris had with Sainz.

* Becoming one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood has gone straight to Ana de Armas' head -- the cast and crew are often left waiting for the actress to emerge from her trailer on the set of the new action thriller The Gray Man -- Ana's got a lot going on and she's juggling several different projects, as well as photo shoots and phone calls with her team and people don't stay mad at her for too long, but they have nicknamed her Ana de Diva, but she isn't upset by the scathing moniker because she's a big name now, and with that comes a lot of responsibility and the way she sees it, there are worse things than being called a diva

Page 21: Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell were spotted in NYC together, sparking speculation that the former Bachelor couple have rekindled their relationship -- the pair parted ways while the show was still airing after photos of the graphic designer at a plantation-themed college party in 2018 surfaced on social media -- Rachael made a mistake but she owned up to it and was willing to learn from it and it didn't change her feelings for Matt or vice versa and Matt was in love with Rachael too and he couldn't just turn those feelings off so no one would be surprised if they decided to reconcile
* Michael B. Jordan's girlfriend Lori Harvey was left reeling over photos of the actor sharing a smooch with Chante Adams on the set of their new movie A Journal for Jordan -- of course, they were just shooting a scene for the film, but Lori was still annoyed and she asked Michael about it, and he brushed it off and explained it was part of the job but Lori still has her suspicions and she's been thinking about dropping by the set just so she can keep a very close eye on them
Page 22: Cover Story -- Khloe Kardashian living a lie -- devastated by an unretouched photo leak, Khloe faces claims she's a body positivity hypocrite as she demands the viral image be taken down

The Successes and Failures of NASCAR
With it being a quieter weekend for Motorsport, and having followed NASCAR this year, I felt it was a good time to discuss the pros and cons of one of the biggest racing series in the world, especially after another dramatic race last night!
NASCAR is arguably most infamous for its huge crashes, and the drama that ensues around it, so you cannot deny that going 20 years without a death in the sport, is a commendable statistic to have, and hopefully it will continue. This has been down to not only the strength of the cars, but also the innovation with the SAFER barriers, which help to cushion impacts. Dedicated safety teams which follow the sport around, better seats and reduced speeds have also aided this fight for safety.
Unfortunately, the next few points, which are the biggest features of NASCAR, are not entirely positive ones. First of all, we have the playoff system. Brought in in 2015, to try and provide guaranteed excitement every year for the title, it is a divisive issue. You cannot argue that it doesn’t give us more excitement and intrigue, and may have helped to bring some new fans to the sport, however the integrity of the series has taken a hit. This season is not so bad, as the best teams have got through to the playoffs on the most part, yet if neither Larson nor Hamlin win the title, I am sure that questions will be asked again. For me, I wouldn’t say I hate it, as it does help the on track product, I would just prefer the best driver to always win the title, not the best at Phoenix.
The next issue is one that most fans seem to be united on, and you cannot deny that it ruins the racing. That is the stage breaks! They were put in to keep up the entertainment during the race, and ensure there were more restarts, so hopefully more action, but it takes away so much of the strategy of the race. Instead of seeing different teams having different plans of how to run the race, everyone does the same thing, because they know when the cautions will be. Strategy variety is what often creates great racing, as cars have different ages of tyres, and different agendas, without that we just have a procession. If they want to hand out points during a race then fine, but just don’t put out the yellow when you do.
To balance out the negativity, I will talk about the calendar, which I think on the most part is pretty good. Especially in 2021, as there is a strong range of tracks, with many more road courses coming to NASCAR. Starting with the Daytona 500, gets many fans interested in the series, and weekly races, whilst being a bit overkill, keep them watching. With the current playoff system, the race count is probably about right, maybe only a few too many, but if they go back to a ‘normal’ championship, they could easily cut it back to 25, and make each one more special.
I was partly inspired to create this article by the consistent success of Martinsville as the cut-off race before the season finale. It is a confrontational track, which with so much at stake, always means drama. When you look at that, then see Bristol and the Roval as the other cut-off races, you have to show respect to NASCAR for knowing what races to put where. Having Daytona as the regular season finale race works well too, and Talladega in the playoffs normally means chaos. The only mistake I see really, is the title decider at Phoenix, as whilst it is a good track, I am not sure it gives the action you need to end the season. They should probably go back to Homestead!
I also feel as though NASCAR does a pretty good job of holding up the rules, they come down hard on any misdemeanour on pit lane, in the name of safety, but want to let the drivers be free to race on track. I like that the drivers are trusted to show respect for each other, and when something happens, they let the drivers talk it out, instead of having a steward’s enquiry. Then, if a driver shows violence, either on track or after the race, NASCAR does its bit to try and stop it happening again. It is by no means perfect, yet compared to other series, they are doing pretty well.
Back to another negative sadly, with the traction compound that they put down at some tracks to improve the racing. Not only does it not always work, which just leads to one groove racing, but it then ruins the track for any other series that want to race there, like IndyCar. In my opinion, if the track in its normal state cannot produce great racing, then it needs to be fixed properly or leave the calendar, instead of applying a band aid.
The last negative is a small thing, but one that means a lot for the finances of the sport. That is the charter system, which helps the big teams to stay in the sport, and makes it harder for new ones to join. It basically guarantees those who have one, that they can run in every NASCAR race, whilst the rest have to fight over a few spots left, and they aren’t cheap to get either. It takes some of the excitement out of the Duels at Daytona ahead of the 500, and is part of the reason why the Cup field is diminishing.
My final point isn’t directly for the NASCAR Cup Series, it is for their feeder series, as I feel they do the best job of all the racing series around the world, of making them their own entity. The Xfinity series is put on network TV, and fans will come on a separate day to the Cup race, just to watch it, and it is the same with Truck, although to a lesser extent. Also, ideas like using the Cup pit crew for the feeder series is a huge thing which saves budgets for the feeder teams.
All in all, NASCAR isn’t a broken sport, it is just that some of the most important rules, are hard to justify from a racing standpoint. It can still give us some brilliant racing, tension, and drama, even if it is heavily biased towards entertainment!

Gossip: Four giants in for Man Utd midfielder; Fraser’s offer
Date published: Tuesday 17th September 2019 8:58
BIG FOUR IN FOR MAN UTD MIDFIELDER If Manchester United are to recruit their five domestic targets, they will have to clear more space on their books.
Handily, Nemanja Matic’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Red Devils are no longer reliant on the Serbia star. Matic made his first start of the season against Leicester on Saturday and he certainly looked rusty.
That isn’t putting off some of Europe’s big hitters from preparing an offer for the midfielder. Matic will be 32 at the start of next season but, according to Calciomercato, Inter, AC Milan and Juventus are all keen to the former Chelsea star on a free, while Borussia Dortmund are also interested.
MILAN EYED FOR TAKEOVER By that time, AC Milan might be shopping in a different market rather than kicking the tyres of a veteran free agent. Because according to reports in Italy, the Rossoneri could be bought by the world’s second richest man.
Bernard Arnault is said to be worth £86billion and Il Messaggero claims he wants to chuck some of his spare change in Milan’s direction. Arnault made much of his fortune from Louis Vuitton and he also owns Dom Perignon.
AC Milan’s current owners, Elliot Management, are reportedly not interested in selling the club. Which is exactly what you would say when a man richer than God makes his opening offer.
BOURNEMOUTH TO TEMPT FRASER From the San Siro to the south coast. Bournemouth might not be overly concerned about reports of Man Utd’s interest in Callum Wilson after the England striker signed a new contract with the Cherries in the summer. But they are vulnerable when it comes to Ryan Fraser.
The Scotland winger is rapidly approaching free-agency and there is no shortage of clubs willing to take the 25-year-old. One report from 90min claims Arsenal, Everton, Chelsea and Wolves all retain their interest in Fraser, who could have his pick of club and salary next summer.
But apparently Bournemouth are willing to offer Fraser £100,000 a week to tie him down. We suspect it’s too little too late…
AND THE REST Willian wants to stay at Chelsea… Joel Veltman says he wanted to sign for West Ham this summer but Ajax would not let the winger leave… Everton, Southampton, Bournemouth, Sheffield United, Bristol City, Barnsley and Sunderland are all watching Motherwell winger James Scott… Sam Allardyce is willing to return to Sunderland if they are taken over by an American consortium… Aleksandr Golovin says he turned down Chelsea last year over fears he wouldn’t get enough game time.

Nobbs & fellow gamers excited for brand spanking new WSL season
Numerous sports activities typically herald a brand new season as being “the largest but”, however not often has any competitors witnessed as a lot change because the Girls’s Tremendous League has this summer season.
After a transition to full-time, skilled standing, the restructured one-tier, 11-team WSL begins on Sunday.
With new groups, new guidelines and a few new managers, plus Manchester United’s return to the senior ladies’s sport, the 2018-19 marketing campaign guarantees a lot.
So, after England and Scotland certified for the 2019 Girls’s World Cup, BBC Sport seems forward to the return of England’s home league.
A totally full-time, skilled league
The WSL’s first season in 2011 featured eight predominantly semi-professional sides. In distinction, this yr there will likely be 11 strictly full-time groups within the prime flight.
That comes after the Soccer Affiliation – which runs the ladies’s leagues in England – brought in new licence criteria for golf equipment, that means all groups needed to re-apply for his or her locations.

Nonetheless, final yr’s second-tier champions Doncaster Rovers Belles had been amongst these to drop all the way down to the rebranded third tier, the Nationwide League, together with Oxford United, Sheffield FC and Watford.
Palace weren’t initially awarded a licence in Might, however their unique bid did meet the standards and subsequently they were promoted after the Belles joined Sheffield FC in withdrawing for monetary causes.
New managers, acquainted names
Matt Beard – a two-time WSL winner in 2013 and 2014 when he was Liverpool boss – has taken cost of West Ham following their transfer up from tier three to tier one.
Bristol Metropolis appointed former Doncaster participant Tanya Oxtoby as their new supervisor following the resignation of Willie Kirk, who has since change into the assistant supervisor at Manchester United.
Former Leeds United males’s boss Neil Redfearn left the Belles to take the Liverpool job after Scott Rogers’ departure from Merseyside.
An extra managerial change within the prime tier noticed Lee Burch appointed at Yeovil Town after Jamie Sherwood moved to change into director of soccer of the Somerset facet.
And, having been appointed in November 2017, Australian coach Joe Montemurro will start his first full season at Arsenal after reaching two home cup finals and successful a trophy – the Continental Tyres League Cup – final time period.
New signings – who did the very best enterprise?
Claire Rafferty (left), Jane Ross (centre) and Gilly Flaherty (proper) are all now West Ham gamers
Having made huge additions to their squad to strengthen for top-flight soccer, West Ham’s summer season arrivals included England left-back Claire Rafferty, in addition to Scotland striker Jane Ross and Rafferty’s ex-Chelsea team-mate Gilly Flaherty.
Title hopefuls Manchester Metropolis, who completed second final time period, have added to their ahead line with Canada’s Janine Beckie.
Defending champions Chelsea’s new recruits embody Birmingham defender Jess Carter and New Zealand’s Ali Riley, whereas striker Eniola Aluko left to affix Juventus and heavily-decorated midfielder Katie Chapman retired.
Arsenal noticed long-serving right-back Alex Scott additionally retire they usually introduced in Austria captain Viktoria Schnaderbeck, however she wanted surgical procedure after sustaining a knee harm in August.
There was a big swap between the Merseyside golf equipment as Everton striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk joined Liverpool, whereas Brighton snapped up Yeovil’s Wales star Kayleigh Green.
Birmingham Metropolis signed Sunderland’s Lucy Staniforth, whereas final season’s fourth-placed facet Studying recruited England winger Gemma Davison from Chelsea.

New, one-off guidelines on promotion & relegation
Lastly, with this summer season’s structural adjustments leaving 11 sides in every of the highest two leagues, the FA confirmed in August their adjusted preparations for promotion and relegation.
From the highest flight, one facet will likely be relegated on the finish of 2018-19.
The highest two sides within the Championship will likely be eligible to win promotion as much as the WSL – offering they’ll meet the skilled standards for a licence subsequent summer season.
There’ll no relegation from the underside of the Championship all the way down to the third tier – the regionalised FA Girls’s Nationwide League.
And, for one season solely, as much as two sides might win promotion from tier three to the Championship subsequent summer season – with each the Northern and Southern winners initially eligible, moderately than simply the winners of a standard play-off between the 2.
That’s with view to seeing 12 groups in every of the highest two divisions by 2019-20.
If the winner of both the Northern or Southern sections is unable to fulfill standards for promotion, then the runner-up in that division will likely be provided the chance to use to go up as a substitute.
The FA then hopes to implement a constant one-up, one-down system between the highest three tiers from the 2019-20 marketing campaign onwards.

What's different between FA WSL, FA Women's Cup and Continental cup? Thank you.
The FAWSL is the league (full name: Barclay's FA Women's Super League). It is made up of 12 teams:
Arsenal
Birmingham City
Brighton & Hove Albion
Bristol City
Chelsea
Everton
Liverpool
Manchester City
Manchester United
Reading
Tottenham Hotspur
West Ham United
All of the teams play each other twice over the course of the season (Sept-May), home and away. The team with the most points at the end of the season is the Champion (and gets a trophy), the top two teams qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League and the team with the least points/bottom of the table is relegated to the tier below (FA Women's Championship) and the top team from the FAWC is promoted to the FAWSL for the next season.
The Conti Cup (full name: The FA Women's Continental Tyres League Cup) is a cup competition between the teams in the top two divisions: FAWSL and FAWC. There is a group stage where 5-6 teams in different regional groups play against each other and the top two from each group then go into the quarter finals. It's then the knockout rounds and two teams end up in the final, which should be at a neutral ground, and whoever wins gets a trophy. The Conti Cup runs Sept-Feb.
The FA Cup (full name: The SSE Women's FA Cup) is a much bigger deal than the Conti Cup tbh. It can include clubs from all tiers of the Women's Football pyramid, which means that lower division teams get the chance to match up against professional teams (like Crawley Wasps vs Arsenal last season). Lower division teams have qualifying rounds, then FAWC teams join in the 3rd Round and FAWSL teams join in the 4th round. It's a knock out competition so teams can be knocked out earlier than expected, or go on to do better than expected. It finishes up with a big final at Wembley Stadium and a trophy for the winner, and the last few years the crowds have been 40,000+. The FAWSL involvement in the FA Cup is from Jan/Feb-May.
Hope that all makes sense!

Women's Super League: New full-time, professional era - all you need to know
Media playback is not supported on this device
Various sports often herald a new season as being “the biggest yet”, but rarely has any competition witnessed as much change as the Women’s Super League has this summer.
After a transition to full-time, professional status, the restructured one-tier, 11-team WSL starts on Sunday.
With new teams, new rules and some new managers, plus Manchester United’s return to the senior women’s game, the 2018-19 campaign promises much.
So, after England and Scotland qualified for the 2019 Women’s World Cup, BBC Sport looks ahead to the return of England’s domestic league.
Women’s Super League fixtures list[1]
Women’s Championship fixtures list[2]
A completely full-time, professional league
The WSL’s first season in 2011 featured eight predominantly semi-professional sides. In contrast, this year there will be 11 strictly full-time teams in the top flight.
That comes after the Football Association – which runs the women’s leagues in England – brought in new licence criteria[3] for clubs, meaning all teams had to re-apply for their places.
Closed and then open application processes followed, before promotions, relegations and multiple appeals,[4] but the outcome is that 11 top-flight sides will all provide:
A minimum of 16 contact hours per week for players this season;
An academy, which is compulsory as part of the licence.
“Everyone knows that year-on-year this league has got stronger, and that is very much the case this year,” Everton boss Andy Spence told BBC Sport.
“Standards will go up again and the demands and expectations go up every year. That’s something that you drive yourself too, as a manager.”
The second tier – previously known as WSL 2 – has been rebranded as the Women’s Championship and is made up of 11 teams required to meet part-time criteria.
Casey Stoney: Man Utd ‘can change the face of women’s football’[5]
New teams – who has moved divisions?
<!–
Newcomers Brighton and West Ham have joined the top tier this term after successful bids for full-time licences.
Sunderland, who finished seventh in tier one last season, have been moved down to tier three after not receiving a licence and making an unsuccessful appeal.
Meanwhile, Manchester United, who reformed their women’s side[6] for the first time since 2005, plus Charlton, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Lewes FC and Sheffield United have all joined the Championship.
United’s return has been welcomed by the FA’s Baroness Sue Campbell, who said their application was “a natural next step”[7] and added that the FA were “delighted they have chosen to step in” this year.
However, last year’s second-tier champions Doncaster Rovers Belles were among those to drop down to the rebranded third tier, the National League, along with Oxford United, Sheffield FC and Watford.
Palace were not initially awarded a licence in May, but their original bid did meet the criteria and therefore they were promoted[8] after the Belles joined Sheffield FC in withdrawing for financial reasons.
New managers, familiar names
Matt Beard – a two-time WSL winner in 2013 and 2014 when he was Liverpool boss – has taken charge of West Ham following their move up from tier three to tier one.
Bristol City appointed former Doncaster player Tanya Oxtoby as their new manager following the resignation of Willie Kirk, who has since become the assistant manager at Manchester United.
Former Leeds United men’s boss Neil Redfearn left the Belles to take the Liverpool job after Scott Rogers’ departure from Merseyside.
A further managerial change in the top tier saw Lee Burch appointed at Yeovil Town[9] after Jamie Sherwood moved to become director of football of the Somerset side.
And, having been appointed in November 2017, Australian coach Joe Montemurro will begin his first full season at Arsenal after reaching two domestic cup finals and winning a trophy – the Continental Tyres League Cup – last term.
New signings – who did the best business?
<!–
Having made vast additions to their squad to strengthen for top-flight football, West Ham’s summer arrivals included England left-back Claire Rafferty, as well as Scotland striker Jane Ross and Rafferty’s ex-Chelsea team-mate Gilly Flaherty.
Title hopefuls Manchester City, who finished second last term, have added to their forward line with Canada’s Janine Beckie.[10]
Defending champions Chelsea’s new recruits include Birmingham defender Jess Carter and New Zealand Ali Riley, while striker Eniola Aluko left to join Juventus and heavily-decorated midfielder Katie Chapman retired.
Arsenal saw long-serving right-back Alex Scott also retire and they brought in Austria captain Viktoria Schnaderbeck, but she needed surgery after sustaining a knee injury in August.
There was a significant switch between the Merseyside clubs as Everton striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk joined Liverpool, while Brighton snapped up Yeovil’s Wales star Kayleigh Green.[11]
Birmingham City signed Sunderland’s Lucy Staniforth, while last season’s fourth-placed side Reading recruited England winger Gemma Davison from Chelsea.
“Gemma has that experience, understanding and knowledge of what it takes to win things,” said Royals boss Kelly Chambers.
“Every team she has been in, she has come away with medals and awards. She brings us something different.”
New names, as more clubs drop ‘ladies’ title
Another off-field aspect of the WSL that has evolved rapidly in recent months is that further teams have opted to change their names from “Ladies” to “Women”.
Nine of the 11 top-flight sides now either have “Women” in their name or have dropped a gender-distinguishing title altogether.
Upon changing their name in May, champions Chelsea said the move underlined the “ever-growing status” of the women’s game and was a move away from referring to the men’s side as the “first” team.

New, one-off rules on promotion & relegation
Finally, with this summer’s structural changes leaving 11 sides in each of the top two leagues, the FA confirmed in August their adjusted arrangements for promotion and relegation.
From the top flight, one side will be relegated at the end of 2018-19.
The top two sides in the Championship will be eligible to win promotion up to the WSL – providing they can meet the professional criteria for a licence next summer.
There will no relegation from the bottom of the Championship down to the third tier – the regionalised FA Women’s National League.
And, for one season only, up to two sides could win promotion from tier three to the Championship next summer – with both the Northern and Southern winners initially eligible, rather than just the winners of a traditional play-off between the two.
That is with view to seeing 12 teams in each of the top two divisions by 2019-20.
If the winner of either the Northern or Southern sections is unable to meet criteria for promotion, then the runner-up in that division will be offered the opportunity to apply to go up instead.
The FA then hopes to implement a consistent one-up, one-down system between the top three tiers from the 2019-20 campaign onwards.

What better way to show your love of the Tour de France (other than going there, or riding a sportive) than buying a couple of velo-related pieces to decorate your man or woman cave? Benjamin shows us how…
Allez! Allez!
The prestigious Tour de France is one of the oldest organised cycling races in the world. Since the very first edition in 1903, this 21-day race through France has been getting hearts pumping. For cycling fans, the multi-stage race over 3500 kilometres is the pinnacle of competitive international cycling. Many of those fans are weekend warriors themselves, taking to country trails or city bike paths for one of the world’s favourite amateur sports and leisure activities.
Un vrai domestique
Now your domestic decor can reflect your passion for two-wheeled exercise. We’ve found a clutch of fun items inspired by cycling in general, and the Tour de France in particular. Note the colour palette – red, white and blue are the national colours of France; bright yellow with black accents are the tones most associated with Tour de France participants and their eye-popping jerseys. Perfect for a casual den, office or man (woman) cave, they’ll also help create an excellent atmosphere for watching all those superhero cyclists battle mountainous terrain, the elements, and each other – on the big screen television.
Polka dot, or maillot jaune?
It doesn’t take much to get the message across. Even small items such as the mugs you sip coffee from can broadcast your special interest. Take this graphic mug featuring that iconic yellow. £13.50
Crossbar optional
The couple that cycles together, stays together. We also love these his and hers cycling mugs from John Lewis. £5
Chopper
This miniature bike model makes a rather adorable conversation piece. A faithful scaled down replica of a real bike, it would look great atop a shelving unit or entertainment centre. This 70s “chopper” model is in bright orange for a slightly more badass hit of colour. £50
The Route Prints
These A2 giclee prints from London’s iconic Look Mum No Hands feature the essence of some of the most iconic theatres in cycling, the roads on which the greats fought and reputations were forged. Iconic mountains, fabulous scenery and beautiful styling. We love the orange and blue of the Ronde, but of course Ventoux is better suited to the Tour! £40
Shut Up Legs!
We’ve also some some great aspirational wall art. A favourite message – shut up, legs! – familiar to almost anyone who rides, adorns this Sassan Filsoof digital print. £85
Think of the hills
Tour de France yellow makes this limited edition giclee print on 100% cotton rag paper by Bristol based artist Lisa Takahashi an energetic accent for any wall. £225
Ride with the pack
For a more abstract allusion to cycle love (and one that will handily go with any existing style of decor or colour palette), we like this dynamic cast iron wall sculpture depicting a pack of racing cyclists crouched into the wind. £100
OK that’s enough for the armchair and weekend cycle buffs; we’ve found some things for those who take riding a bike seriously – those who use their bikes to commute or belong to a local touring club.
Take it outside
This bike shed is a practical solution for storing your wheels. Tucked into a garden or patio, it will shelter your trusty ride from the elements and thieves. Sturdy, good-looking and lockable, this bike store can accommodate two adult size bikes and assorted accessories. £339
And finally, because we know what you need, this puncture repair kit makes a great gift for the yourself or the cyclist in your life. Cold patches, tyre levers and adhesive makes this one elegant tin box of usefulness. £10
Enthusiasm for cycling always reaches a fever pitch in July. That’s when the super athletes of the Tour de France (and the other great distance bike races taking place in Europe) show us all what grit and determination on two wheels actually looks like. And that’s when we’ve dusted off our bikes, be they humble fixies or 16-gear war machines, and fallen in love with riding all over again. The cycling season is short, but you can keep the passion going with a few decorative reminders all year long.

Nobbs & fellow players excited for new WSL season
Various sports often herald a new season as being “the biggest yet”, but rarely has any competition witnessed as much change as the Women’s Super League has this summer.
After a transition to full-time, professional status, the restructured one-tier, 11-team WSL starts on Sunday.
With new teams, new rules and some new managers, plus Manchester United’s return to the senior women’s game, the 2018-19 campaign promises much.
So, after England and Scotland qualified for the 2019 Women’s World Cup, BBC Sport looks ahead to the return of England’s domestic league.
A completely full-time, professional league
The WSL’s first season in 2011 featured eight predominantly semi-professional sides. In contrast, this year there will be 11 strictly full-time teams in the top flight.
That comes after the Football Association – which runs the women’s leagues in England – brought in new licence criteria for clubs, meaning all teams had to re-apply for their places.
Closed and then open application processes followed, before promotions, relegations and multiple appeals, but the outcome is that 11 top-flight sides will all provide:
A minimum of 16 contact hours per week for players this season;
New teams – who has moved divisions?
Former England boss Hope Powell will lead Brighton in their first campaign as a full-time side
Newcomers Brighton and West Ham have joined the top tier this term after successful bids for full-time licences.
Sunderland, who finished seventh in tier one last season, have been moved down to tier three after not receiving a licence and making an unsuccessful appeal.
Meanwhile, Manchester United, who reformed their women’s side for the first time since 2005, plus Charlton, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Lewes FC and Sheffield United have all joined the Championship.
United’s return has been welcomed by the FA’s Baroness Sue Campbell, who said their application was “a natural next step” and added that the FA were “delighted they have chosen to step in” this year.
However, last year’s second-tier champions Doncaster Rovers Belles were among those to drop down to the rebranded third tier, the National League, along with Oxford United, Sheffield FC and Watford.
Palace were not initially awarded a licence in May, but their original bid did meet the criteria and therefore they were promoted after the Belles joined Sheffield FC in withdrawing for financial reasons.
A further managerial change in the top tier saw Lee Burch appointed at Yeovil Town after Jamie Sherwood moved to become director of football of the Somerset side.
And, having been appointed in November 2017, Australian coach Joe Montemurro will begin his first full season at Arsenal after reaching two domestic cup finals and winning a trophy – the Continental Tyres League Cup – last term.
New signings – who did the best business?
Claire Rafferty (left), Jane Ross (centre) and Gilly Flaherty (right) are all now West Ham players
Having made vast additions to their squad to strengthen for top-flight football, West Ham’s summer arrivals included England left-back Claire Rafferty, as well as Scotland striker Jane Ross and Rafferty’s ex-Chelsea team-mate Gilly Flaherty.
Title hopefuls Manchester City, who finished second last term, have added to their forward line with Canada’s Janine Beckie.
Defending champions Chelsea’s new recruits include Birmingham defender Jess Carter and New Zealand’s Ali Riley, while striker Eniola Aluko left to join Juventus and heavily-decorated midfielder Katie Chapman retired.
Arsenal saw long-serving right-back Alex Scott also retire and they brought in Austria captain Viktoria Schnaderbeck, but she needed surgery after sustaining a knee injury in August.
There was a significant switch between the Merseyside clubs as Everton striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk joined Liverpool, while Brighton snapped up Yeovil’s Wales star Kayleigh Green.

Sunday’s fixtures (kick-off times in BST) involve all teams except top-flight newcomers West Ham, whose campaign begins on 19 September because of the odd number of sides in the league

WSL fixtures release: Chelsea begin title defence against rivals Manchester City

WSL fixtures release: Chelsea begin title defence against rivals Manchester City
Former England captain Casey Stoney was named as Manchester United manager in June
Chelsea’s Women’s Super League title defence will begin against Manchester City, while Manchester United’s first senior competitive women’s game since 2005 will be at Liverpool in August.
The fixtures for the new, full-time WSL – which begins on the weekend of 8-9 September – were released on Wednesday.
Second-tier newcomers United are in Liverpool’s Continental Tyres League Cup group, starting from 18-19 August.
This summer, the Football Association revamped England’s top women’s leagues.
The WSL, which will contain 11 professional teams for the first time, sees a meeting of last season’s top two – Chelsea and Man City – at Kingsmeadow on the opening weekend.
Arsenal’s campaign will begin at home to Liverpool, now managed by former Leeds United men’s boss Neil Redfearn, while top-flight newcomers Brighton will host Bristol City.
Elsewhere, Birmingham City will host Everton, while Yeovil Town will travel to Reading, with newly-promoted West Ham United sitting out the first round of fixtures owing to the league containing an odd number of teams.
The League Cup sees the 22 tier one and tier-two clubs split in to four groups, with the top two teams from each group progressing to 8-9 January’s quarter-finals.
New teams, new names, new licence criteria
The FA, which runs the women’s leagues in England, restructured the top divisions this summer after an application process for licences for tiers one and two, with all top-flight clubs training full-time in 2018-19.
West Ham have moved up to the WSL from the third tier, while Brighton have moved up from the old WSL 2.
In the part-time, second-tier now known as the Championship, Manchester United are among six new sides.
Charlton, Leicester City, Lewes FC and Sheffield United joined the Red Devils in earning licences in May, before Crystal Palace were also added after Doncaster Rovers Belles and Sheffield FC both withdrew from the second tier.
New, one-off rules on promotion & relegation
With those changes leaving 11 sides in each of the top two leagues, the FA also confirmed on Wednesday their adjusted arrangements for promotion and relegation, in an attempt to balance out the leagues to have even numbers by next summer.
From the top flight, one side will be relegated at the end of 2018-19.
The top two sides in the Championship will be eligible to win promotion up to the WSL – provided they can meet the professional criteria for a licence next summer.
At the bottom of the Championship, one side will be relegated to the third tier – the regionalised FA Women’s National League.
And, for one season only, up to two sides could win promotion from tier three to the Championship next summer – with both the Northern and Southern winners initially eligible, rather than just the winners of a play-off between the two.
If the winner of either the Northern or Southern sections are unable to meet criteria for promotion then the respective runner-up in that division will be offered the opportunity to apply to go up instead.
The FA then hope to implement a consistent one-up, one-down system between the top three tiers from the 2019-20 campaign onwards.
