Snow turned into a brick wall for the rest of the shopping trip.

Gem tried to break the ice a few more times. With jokes or comments about ugly baby clothes, but Snow refused to engage. Each time she brushed him off, the more annoyed he got. Like, seriously, what the hell? All this because he didn't want her to go overboard and get a bunch of shit for his family for the holidays?

By the time it was ready to go, Gem was pissed too.

And instead of going out to eat, like they'd planned, they just went right back to the Inn. Which pissed Gem off because he had been promised food for this excursion in the first place. Normally, he'd be fine to take spending time with Snow over the food--but considering she was being frigid, he would prefer the food.

The drive back to the Inn was quiet but simmering. Gem wasn't very familiar with this whole...dynamic. It was one of the reasons he never really had any friends or interpersonal relationships besides his brother. Shit like the silent treatment pissed him off.

Also, it kind of worried him. Just a bit. Was Snow gonna break up with him over fucking Christmas presents?!

So, when he stopped the truck outside the Inn, he kept his seat belt on and the doors locked.

"You still gonna be mad at me tomorrow when I come over for the gingerbread house or you gonna be over it by then?" he asked bluntly.
