I love how we got to see Phipps' chimkeen but how come the chapter 66 where it came from wasn't though?! Still hope they animate it as a flashback or even as OVA. 😭🥹

The more I think about Francis and Alexis, the more I dislike them. Alexis says he's Ciel's guardian...but like, they don't even try to protect Ciel:

Normally, an orphaned noble would live with family or another noble family until they came of age. They let Ciel live at his place. I think between Ciel's determination and the queen naming him watchdog, it would have been hard for them to force him to live with them. Still, they could hae arranged things so they routinely checked up on him.

I'm skeptical they could have gotten the queen to name one of them as the Watchdog even if they had tried. But there's no evidence that they tried.

They never try to accompany Ciel on his missions. Granted he'd probably have Sebastian work out a way to keep them from following him. However, they play no role in them unless accidentally thrown in. Say what you will about Madame Red, but until her death, she sat in on every one of Ciel's evil meetings and visited almost every day. Don't tell me that as a former Phantomhive, Francis couldn't have forced her way into the little Aristocrats of Evil clique to stay up-to-date on her nephew's missions.

In contrast, we see Francis visit once. The closest thing there is to her involvement is when they are on the Campania. And I get that they have kids of their own and need to help civilians. But as Ciel's legal guardian, you would think they would decide that at least one of them would insist on staying by his side...but they just are like. "He's got this."

And I know he has Sebastian and that Ciel is very capable, but that's irrelevant. He's 13. They are his family and guardians, and they seem to have just checked out. Even if all they did was stand on the side providing moral support, they should be there for him. Only their kids provide meaningful support to Ciel.
