wanted to share some notes from my fic-plotting

which has consumed any energy for creation and honestly LORD knows if I'll ever release it upon the public BUT

i really wanted it to have a polyam lams and hamliza and thus the relationship chart has stuff like J<--> A: messiest relationship preservation. which. fair. one’s bisexual and polyamorous and blindingly aware of the monogamous society he's in without the full scope of words with which to defend himself. the other is the most repressed self-denying homosexual this side of the Atlantic in the 1700s. they make it work. almost didn’t. but they make it work. addition:

gee laurens how come you’re living with the hamiltons? “gas leak” “frances needs a ma, and no i don't want to remarry” “rats” “he’s like family” “new york is fucking expensive and i got cut off” A<--> E: almost insta-love the way they fell hard for each other. but no, they were upfront about the practical matters of marriage. alex managed to send multiple letters that were to the tune of “im originally a poor Caribbean bitch. are you sure you wanna marry me?” and had to be pressed into confessing about john. it fucked up eliza for a while, but lupe (OC, my darling) offered some good advice. E<-->J: john kinda hated her for a whileeee

bitter ass bitch, had to be put in his place by eliza. would have self-sabotaged it but God and Samson (main oc, he goes through So Much) didn’t let himself fall onto a sword.

ever since i discovered that john laurens was a petty ass bitch I've been wanting to see John and Eliza be incredibly fucking snippy with each other but that would have been impossible with the Way Things Were re: genteel manners, the disregard towards women's opinions, john laurens' most likely inbuilt sexism (that ham also had, he's not getting off the hook on this) Penelope and Samson did not expect themselves to be dealing with such a dynamic and had to work overtime to make sure they didn't implde. unfortunately sam always sees that laughing 5 year old redhead when he looks at his cousin (alex) and Penelope knows that beyond all the points where these people annoy her, they are actually pretty decent for their time. she's mostly doing it so her sanity and her husband's peace of mind is preserved (god she does so much emotional labour)

Coeli's Picks: Green, part 1

Ever since I started picking up speed with this project, my friend @coeli1000 has been sending me suggestions to help me fill the blog. I haven't used all of her suggestions, for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it's hard to find good pictures of a particular outfit. Sometimes it's an outfit that's already been covered by one of the other posters (I like to give preference to outfits that haven't been done already). Sometimes I don't feel that I know enough about the source to talk about it intelligently. Sometimes I just run out of days in a month before I can get to everything!

So, for the month of "anything goes," I thought I'd feature a bunch of her suggestions that I haven't covered in detail so far. I'll be posting them in groups rather than individually. I reserve the right to cover any of these outfits in full at a later time, but meanwhile, here's a sample!

On the subject of last names...

It drives me crazy that the SDV characters don't have last names like yeah saying "sam stardew valley" is funny and all, but here's my objectively correct headcanon on the marriage candidates middle and last names. It's insane especially seeing as last names are like... a thing in this universe, George and Evelyn and arguably Alex have them, but nobody else does!!!! A lot of these were based on people I know who remind me of the candidates (like, i gave Haley the same last name as the popular girl in my highschool) Let me know what you think and I can make a list of the other characters too !!!!

Energy on set was positive and acceptance from the get go that helped

Sailing training, stunt training, sword fighting together helped bonding

Everyone on the cast was odd, and people moved out together so lots of small found family situations

Long hours together

Note: Stede's story time everyone is actually asleep, cause they've been up for like 18 hrs

In original script: Roach was going to end up with the crew of revenge, but then changed the script cause Samba would look like a kid who stole his dads jacket, so Frenchie was cap

Originally Zheng called the crew "beta" instead of "tender" but they changed it.

Innkeeper deleted scenes:

Everyone's eating soup on deck, roach was supposed to be serving people soup, and Fang says "Ah, Leroy, I'm so glad you're alive?" and Lucius goes "I'm sorry do you think my name is Leroy?"

Oluwande was crying, Jim asks if he was, he says no he gets that thing when he's around grass, and Jim says "A yeah lots of grass around here"

Other deleted scene:

Wee John was going to dress up as cupid, would have encouraged Stede and Ed, who would have danced to "At Last" and then when and boned.

From 7 March to 16 July 2023, the Palais Galliera is organising an exhibition focusing on the year 1997, a watershed year in the history of contemporary fashion. 1997 was both a high point of 1990s fashion and the gateway to the new millennium. It brought a flurry of collections, shows, new appointments, openings and events that defined the fashion scene as we know it today. Such was its impact that 1997 can be thought of as the launching pad for 21st century fashion. 1997 was notable for a number of emblematic collections: bodies deformed by Comme des Garçons with the Body Meets Dress, Dress Meets Body collection, Martin Margiela’s conceptualised garments in the Stockman collection, and Raf Simons’s redefinition of the canons of male beauty in the Black Palms collection. The magazine Vogue Paris defined the 1997 Spring-Summer haute couture season as the ‘Big Bang’ that Paris needed in order to regain its place as the international capital of fashion in an era of economic crisis and intense global competition. But there’s no denying that 1997 was a vintage year. It saw the arrival in haute couture of star designers from the 1980s, such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler, while the legendary French fashion houses were taken over by a new generation of British designers, with Alexander McQueen at Givenchy and John Galliano at Christian Dior.

The globalisation of fashion gathered pace, foreshadowing the 2000s and 2010s. Young, little-known artistic directors rose to prominence, either on their own or at the head of major fashion houses: Hedi Slimane, Stella McCartney, Nicolas Ghesquière, Olivier Theyskens – names that are still shaping fashion today. A whole series of events marked the beginning of the new era: the concept store Colette opened and stayed at the epicentre of fashion for the next 20 years. But also, that same year, the world of fashion was shaken by the tragic death of Gianni Versace. The chronological layout of the exhibition features over 50 silhouettes from the Palais Galliera collections, along with loans from museums and international collectors and fashion houses. And it also includes videos and some outstanding archive documents. The exhibition 1997 Fashion Big Bang is an invitation to discover or to relive key events from this ‘explosive’ year in fashion history.
