#Alex rider season 2

Rewatching Alex Rider is so funny because in season two Alex is so traumatized and they did that so well, but they also decided that Alex's response to being ignored and brushed off is to be as chaotic and unhinged as possible and I love that.

Like Blunt ignores him trying to find the department so Alex goes and chats up Sir David Friend to find him, and the way he gets David to help him is by saying that his goal is to embarrass Blunt. And then upon finding Blunt he once again tracks the department through the city on a bike.

Now was barging in on an operation Alex's smartest move? Obviously not.

However rewatching season two proves that while Alan Blunt is an amazing strategist he is also kind of an idiot. Like you could have cut the season in half if Blunt had actually listened to Alex and asked follow up questions.

An interview with Otto from before season 2, posted on the site of ZDF Neo, a channel now broadcasting the first two seasons in Germany. I haven't seen it around and there was so little promotion by Otto that I thought you might be interested anyway. It's in German, so here is a translation of the interesting bits:

Are you now recognized as Alex Rider? Has your life changed since the first season? My life actually hasn't changed much in this regard because we are in this strange time of the pandemic. But during the filming of the second season, there were times when I was out and someone would come up to me and say, "Oh, hi!" The best part is when you're walking down the street and an 11-year-old boy with his parents stops you and says, "You're my hero!" It's a very nice feeling to inspire someone. You can feel how much this character means to some. It's a real joy to see faces light up when they see Alex Rider on the street.

Why do you feel so connected to this character? You can really get a feel for his character. Alex is someone who tries to see the best in every situation and always has his heart in the right place. He's pushed and pulled and manipulated, sometimes even tortured, but he gets through it. That kind of resilience is something great to look up to. So many people have it in them without even knowing it. It helps to see Alex to recognize that it is also in you.

Filming the first season was very physically demanding, did you spend a lot of time between seasons preparing to do the stunts again? I definitely have! We were shooting in Bristol (UK) and after moving there I started doing parkour around the city: jumping on buildings and climbing bridges and stuff like that. I'm a skinny guy but I felt really athletic! It's quite tiring, though, because it's a physically demanding job. I've practiced a lot of handstands because they help train balance and build strength. My best was 70 handstands in a row. I really pushed myself that way. Parkour is a great workout because when you go into the city, your perception of your surroundings changes completely. You start thinking about the city in a way where you're like, "How can I have fun here? How can I make the city a playground?" The whole world opens up to you.

The last two questions deal with where Alex is in the beginning of season 2 and what we can expect, so maybe I'll skip it here.

Reasons Otto Farrant should be Daeron Targaryen:

He’s a relatively unknown but great actor (that seems to be the vibe of casting)

He looks baby (definitely could pass as 16)

Has an element of Tom Glynn-Carney about him (enough to pass as brothers)

He looks cute all beat up from battle

Would look great on a dragon

He’s got mummy Alicent’s big sad eyes
