I made an Ashler soulmate au post a few weeks ago, but I have more ideas so I’m making a Part Two!

Here’s Part One

I think the whole soulmate thing would get revealed to the other when Tyler “dies”. Like Ashlyn is put out of commission when it happens, a physical sign shows up on her, or through the connection she can sort of tell what happened. Only it’s weird because she can tell he died but she also fells that he’s alive cause phantom realm magic or whatever.

Anyway Tyler and Ashlyn explain like the bare minimum to everyone. Unfortunately some of the other don’t really get the whole “don’t want a soulmate” thing the two of them have so they keep pushing the two of them together.

the bigger problem with this is that Tyler and Ashlyn are actually starting to like each other and they are super obvious about it and everyone can tell, which doesn’t help the meddling. Though it takes awhile for Ashlyn to realize and Tyler (somehow actually being emotionally mature here and understanding what he feeling) refuses to tell her.

this whole thing leads to a bunch of conflict for the two of them (yk when Ashlyn figure it out) cause they hate the idea of soulmates. They think the two of them being soulmates makes their feeling for each other “lesser” cause it’s only because of fate,

It would be funny if one of them confessed completely on accident and they both freak out about it.

But one of them talks to one of the parents (probs Tyler’s mom cause she understands the whole soulmate thing pretty well) and they realize that they can like the other person despite the soulmate thing cause they don’t like the other because they’re their soulmate but despite it.

The person who had the convo goes and talks to the other one and they have an actual conversation about the soulmate thing for the first time ever along with talking about their feelings. (Yay healthy communication)

Hello, I have a request. How would the brothers react to an Mc that has feelings for them but doesn't want them to notice, yet she is so painfully obvious with her feeling that they already now about it.

THE BROTHERS reacting to MC trying to have a secret crush on them but being painfully obvious. 

Lucifer: 

It’s so painfully obvious that he can’t help but play along and make it even worse. You’re already a blushing and stuttering mess when you stand in front of him for any reason, imagine the sight he gets to see when he invites you to his room to ‘discuss important matters’. Homie doesn’t hold back at all. He’s actively flirting, soft touches that could be written off as accidents by you but he knows they’re not. He’ll be close, closer than any normal person should be in your opinion, making you even more nervous. Will he make you confess? Hint at the fact that he may return those feelings? Tune in for next week’s episode to find out more. 

Mammon:

Okay so here’s the issue: even if you’re painfully obvious, it can and will (at least for a while) blow over his head. He just thinks that it’s natural for you to want to hang out with him because why wouldn’t you? He IS the Great Mammon after all. You might as well wear a t-shirt with ‘I HAVE A CRUSH ON YOU’ on it and he’d be like “What’s that supposed to mean MC?” But after a serious talk (more like slap upside the head) from Satan, he’s going to be so smug about it. Wraps his arm around you, probably starts hugging you (although he is blushing too while doing that), and overall just a massive tease.

Leviathan:

PFFFTT He doesn’t care how obvious it is, he will be in DENIAL. Years of body insecurity and mental negativity tell him that you’re just messing around, playing a stupid game. How would he know that you’re actually sincere about this? He can’t! At some point his brothers probably played a prank on him where they paid someone to pretend that they like him and it’s been ruined for him ever since. He needs time with this one… although he does think it’s so adorable how obvious you are… He’d probably be the same way.

Satan:

Hahahahaharunhahahaplzrunhahaha.  Oh he’s almost as bad as Lucifer, but he’s also soooo painfully obvious himself. He’s blushing, too, best believe it, but none of that keeps him from scooting a bit closer, or inviting you on outings that are just you and him for some ~privacy~. Nothing is keeping him from citing his favorite poems or lines to you because they remind him of you… nothing is keeping him from planning a romantic dinner, either. Honestly he’s going to take action if he returns those feelings because he knows you won’t lol

Asmodeus:

Of course he knows! Although for the longest time he just categorizes you with the rest aka ‘everyone has a crush on me!’ group, until he realizes how serious it is with you. I mean, you’re absolutely smitten with the guy! And seriously, how could you not be? He’s super understanding and fun to be around. Honestly, he won’t change much, except that more of his attention will now be on you and he’ll definitely spend more time with you in hopes that something happens, although he won’t necessarily push it. 

Beelzebub:

He’s kind of there with Mammon in the sense that it takes him a while to notice. He probably thinks you’re just like the ~bestest~ of friends for the longest time until he realizes that most best friends don’t hold hands… or kiss each other’s cheeks all the time… or chase each other, literally, while laughing… or blush/get nervous when they’re around each other…. Aaaannddd there it is! The realization that you have feelings for him and he… actually returns them. Honestly now that he had that emotional light bulb go off, he’ll probably want you to be his sooner than later, no matter how much you try to deny it. 

Belphegor:

Although not as mean as some of his brothers, he’s also aware of this. But honestly? He loves watching you suffer and try to hide your feelings more than actually showing he feels the same lol. Will not change much at all, except all of a sudden you find him in your bed a lot more often, or he may even kidnap you to the attic to ‘watch the stars’ but it’s really just an excuse to lay his head on your shoulder. He shows he returns it by being around you, all while getting a kick out of your thumb twiddling, stuttering, tense-body having mess lol

Operation Merry and Bright

Summary: Sam Wilson is many things.

Highly trained former United States Air Force pararescue airman, Avenger, and above all else:

Expert matchmaker.

AKA the power of Christmas traditions bringing together Bucky and the girl from down the hall.

Pairing: Bucky Barnes/Reader

“Hey, F.R.I.D.A.Y.?”

“Yes, Sergeant Barnes?”

“Bucky.  It’s uh...” he trailed off, pushing a hand through his hair before dropping it to rest on his hip, head hanging slightly as if it’ll hide the wave of embarrassment that he’s feeling from the A.I., “It’s November, right?”

“Yes, sir.  It is November 13, 2017, your name is James Buchanan Barnes, you were born on March 10, 1917, you are in the Avengers Tower—“

“I’m okay, F.R.I.D.A.Y., thank you,” he cut her off, the corners of his lips curling at her reassurance.

Even with the trigger words safely removed from his consciousness along with the rest of HYDRA’s programming, it was still a long road to recovery dealing with the aftermath of his time as the Winter Soldier.  Nightmares were a regular occurrence, his training was always pushing at the back of his mind, and on rare occasions his memories would lapse, leaving him confused and disoriented.

At times like these, F.R.I.D.A.Y.’s programmed response to his mounting distress, if he was alone, was to recite facts, beginning with grounding him in the present and becoming more detailed as she progressed.  The last time he had snapped back into his mind was to her reciting a recipe for plum cobbler, something he had built up the courage to ask her for in preparation for the team dinner around Thanksgiving.

He found it almost sweet that on more than one occasion, such as just now, she did it even when he spoke to her directly, despite the realistic probability that he would recognize her in that state being close to zero.

Even for an A.I., she had enough sass and sarcastic wit to stand on par with her creator, and she still met every random question and whim he had with seemingly unlimited amounts of patience and understanding.  

Which, he supposed, she could really have.

He hadn’t forgotten the date, though.  Or at least he was relatively sure he hadn’t.  He figured it couldn’t hurt to check, but with that simple piece of information, he just found himself terribly, incredibly confused.

Because hanging from the ceiling, right in the middle of the hallway leading from the common area to his suite, was a mistletoe bunch.

Even with Stark’s eccentric party planning at every opportunity, not a single Christmas decoration had made its way to the residential floors yet.  Not on any of the floors, probably, but he hadn’t made any recent visits to the S.I. or R&D sections of the building, both out of a lack of necessity and a personal mission to avoid social interaction when at all possible.

As he shifts his weight to his other leg, arms coming to cross over his chest with a soft huff, he sifts through his recent memories, trying to determine the most likely culprits with a motive to hang up the offending piece of greenery.

“It’s not even Thanksgiving yet, where did they find this thing?” He questions aloud, thankful that no one else is around to see how ridiculous the whole situation is, even before he started talking to empty space, and even more so that F.R.I.D.A.Y. didn’t answer his rhetorical question.

I should take this down, she's in this hall too, it might make her uncomfortable, he thinks idly, moving under the bundle to inspect how it was suspended from the ceiling, muscles stiffening as soon as he fully processes the thought.

Could it be for you?  There’s really no evidence that it’s for him at all when he thinks about it objectively, and he really wouldn’t put it past a few of the other people on the team to hang it up as an excuse to see you flustered, or some setup to an elaborate prank, something he knew you’d been victim to more than once.

Almost all of which were headed by the same person.

“Fucking Wilson,” he grumbles under his breath, spinning on his heel to head to the training room and confront the man in question, before promptly rocking back on his other foot to prevent himself from knocking straight into you.

“Sorry!” You squeaked in surprise at the sudden movement and proximity, hand shooting out to grab his arm in an attempt to steady him if he needed it.

He didn’t, but he wobbled a bit longer than necessary to enjoy the feeling of your hand on the plates of his arm.

While Stark and Banner had made some improvements to the limb that HYDRA gave him until a new, upgraded prosthetic could be completed, he was still limited to the basic sensations of pressure and temperature along the surface.  

It made his heart swell every time you touched his left arm, knowing that you weren’t afraid of it and embraced it as just another part of him.  Despite this, he really wished you had grabbed his right, just so he could enjoy the contact of your skin on his.

“That was my fault, I should have heard you coming,” he managed to get out, the slight lift of your brows and the hint of blush spreading across your cheeks equal parts humorous and sweet, as your wide eyes flitted across his form to make sure he was securely planted before slowly releasing your grip.

Would it be too obvious if I just tipped forward?

“Didn’t know I had what it takes to sneak up on a super-soldier.  What did Sam do?” You questioned, slipping back into your easy banter with a small smile.

“Oh, right. I’m actually not sure if it was him yet but um...” he trailed off, foregoing completing his statement in favor of simply pointing above them.

She quirked a brow at him before tilting her head back and shifting her gaze to the ceiling.  

If her expression before had been humorous, this one was simply priceless.  

The blush erupted with renewed force across her cheeks with all the grace of paint splashed across a canvas, lips parting at the sudden drop of her jaw, eyes blinking owlishly before they shifted to focus on him again.

This time he couldn’t hold back the bark of laughter that came out of him, smacking his left hand over his mouth, the slight sting of the impact a punishment for possibly offending her.

“Is that...mistletoe?” She asked slowly, looking back and forth between him and the bundle.

“Yes.”

“In November?”

“That’s what I said.”

“And you think Sam put it there because...?” She trailed off.

“Well, uh, this hallway is just you, me, and him.  I highly doubt it was put there because of me, and he pranks you all the time.  He just seemed like a logical option,” he explains lamely, realizing how weak his logic is when forced to voice it out loud.

“That makes sense, and it probably was Sam, but it’s uh—“ she starts, peering over her shoulder at the end of the hallway— “it’s not for the reason you think,” she finishes, her voice lowering a bit as she fiddles with the bracelet on her wrist, a habit he noticed she had a tendency to do when she was nervous.

“Okay, well, what do you think is the reason he has to hang it up?” He decides on asking, the direct approach seeming like the quickest and most effective way to find answers to the question literally hanging above his head.

“He— Well we—“ she attempts to answer, eyes darting to look anywhere but his face, “We were talking about the holidays a few days ago, right?  And I really love Christmas, it’s probably my favorite holiday.  So we were exchanging stories, things we like about the season.  At some point I, um, I mentioned that I had never been kissed under the mistletoe, and that it was on my bucket list.  He’s the only person that knows that, I think, so, yeah.  It’s probably because of me.”

By the end of her rant the words are coming out in a rush, and she finally manages to meet his eyes again, looking up at him from beneath her lashes, the soft jingle of her charm bracelet drifting in the space between them.

His brain stops functioning.

Not really, he knows what that feels like, but it’s his turn to look dumbly between her and the bunch as he processes her confession.

It’s probably the most endearing thing he’s ever heard her say, and the warm feeling blooming in his chest creeps up the back of his neck in a way that is in no way unpleasant.

What she told him was also in no way an invitation, and he doesn’t even think he’s worthy of taking away an opportunity like that from her, but it doesn’t stop the image of her body pressed against his from pushing to the front of his mind, and the tingle in his neck turns into a burning electric current, shooting straight down his spine to rest in a roiling boil in his belly.

He realizes he’s still staring at her.

“Bucky?” She asks quietly, looking like she wants to melt right through the floor and he could kick himself for putting that doubt in her head.

“Yes, yeah, right.  I would say that’s sweet of him but uh, I doubt he did it with pure intentions.”

She huffs out a laugh and he feels a bit better for relieving at least a bit of her tension.

“Yeah, well, he’s probably making fun of me for being one of the only people that hasn’t done it.  He thinks it’s mostly for kids,” she concedes with another self-deprecating laugh.

“There’s nothing wrong with that,” he reassures her quickly, stepping closer to place a hand on her upper arm, startling himself with his own sudden movement, smile growing when she relaxes into the contact, “I haven’t either,” he adds on.

Her head snaps up to look at him so fast that he’s momentarily concerned about her neck.

“Really?” She asks incredulously, searching his face like she’ll be able to spot the lie.

“As far as I can remember.  I always spent the Christmas season with Steve and his Ma or my sisters, eating more popcorn than stringing it,” he confirms, chuckling at the memory.

“I thought you were a player in your day,” she teases, gently pulling her lip between her teeth as she grins at him.

“I might’a been,” he concedes, deciding to take the risk and trail his hand down her arm to grab her own, carefully holding it and checking her expression for any sign of discomfort, “but I spent the most wonderful time of the year with the most important people in my life, and if I had a girl I think I really would’a enjoyed the sweet and simple things.”

The smile she gave him nearly took his breath away.  It crinkled the corner of her eyes and shone brightly enough to compete with the star on the top of the Rockefeller Tree.

And in that moment it was just for him.

She slowly reaches up with her free hand and brushes the loose hair behind his ear, palm resting on his cheek with a tender swipe of her thumb.

“Bucky?”

“Mm?” He hums lightly, almost scared to break the moment as he leans into her touch.

“It’s a bit early but, will you kiss me under the mistletoe?”

The warmth in his chest explodes with the strength of a supernova, pulsing heat licking across every inch of him so hot he’s worried he’ll burn her where they’re connected.

He brings her hand to his lips, pressing a feather-light kiss on her knuckles before guiding it to caress his other cheek, resting his own hands on her waist and the small of her back, closing the last bit of space between them with a gentle tug.

“Nothing would make me happier, doll.”

He watches the way her eyes flutter shut, wanting to memorize every second of this moment before letting his own close.

There is no rush, the press of their lips is languid and soft and even better than he could have ever hoped for.  It’s not a kiss of desire, the embrace isn’t hurried and needy, it’s an acknowledgment and acceptance between them and says all of the words they haven’t gotten a chance to express yet.

He’s not sure how much time has passed when they pull apart, but it feels like no time at all and he already wants to sweep her away and continue for as long as she’ll indulge him.

With one last peck on her lips, he presses his forehead to hers, maintaining the contact that he had been yearning for so long.

“We might need to get Sam a fruit basket or something,” she says.

“Maybe. But he can wait till Christmas.”

As someone pointed out before, I don’t particularly like using interviews or sources outside of the show as absolute, 100% proof of anything within Voltron. Of course I get excited over some things, and I have used things before, I acknowledge that.

There’s always a part of me that’s a bit skeptical too. The books seem pretty legit, they basically just repeat what’s shown in the show, but it’s extremely condensed from an actual POV where we can hear a single character’s thoughts, which you can’t on the show. It’s the difference between showing and telling (though the show is extremely guilty of just brushing over, telling us about, or outright ignoring events). So yes, the books and comics are pretty reliable to base theories off of. 

Interviews though? Treat those with the highest form of skepticism, especially if you’re asking about things that haven’t happened yet. I cringe every time I hear someone ask about Lance’s endgame, or shipping, or anything like that. You are completely wasting a question because they legally cannot answer you. 

“Why don’t they just deny klance?” We’ve all asked. Why? Either it’s going to be canon, or there is something in their contracts where they cannot say outright no. 

There are some things they say in interviews that are full-on lies, especially if they don’t have time to plan for questions. They do what they need to do to not get slapped with their nondisclosures. 

Though sometimes things they say make you wonder. Make you really, really wonder. 

When someone says that people won’t see the endgame for Lance coming (someone aka Jeremy), that instantly makes you think of Allura (as I’ve discussed with several people in private chats). Except...

who is he talking about? Who isn’t going to see it coming?

Reality is, the hardcore, online fandom is actually NOT the majority of viewers. The majority of people who watch the show over time are the casual fans in kids who want to play with the toys and dress in costumes, the adults with them, or people who stumble onto it. 

Now think, to us klance seems super, super obvious because we’ve analyzed the living shit out of every little thing. However, we also know there are hardcore fans of the show who just do not see it. 

So what do completely casual fans, most of whom would be, unfortunately, very used to the guy getting the girl in the end. Think about it? What’s a super common trope?

Guy likes girl. Girl doesn’t like guy. Girl likes other guy. Other guy turns out to be a jerk. Guy is really nice to her. Girl realizes that she was wrong and goes with guy. Guy gets his reward for being nice because he Deserves it.

You can call me on my bullshit for reaching in other senses, but not this. THIS is so, so painfully common that it makes me cringe. It’s why I really, really didn’t want a\\urance to be a thing. 

I think their characters could be amazing together. They could. But not in the context they’ve been shown and developed. It WOULD be a huge disservice to Allura’s character in particular, and a really shitty message that’s already been shown before. 

The thing is though, this is very likely the most real, common point of view on how the show is going to end. If you showed a casual observer the show, most are, unfortunately, not going to see all the small bits of klance bonding that build like we do. They’re going to see Lance flirting with women. With Allura. They’re going to see him confessing to the mice. They’re going to see Allura get her heart broken and Lance comforting her. They’re going to see her blushing. 

What I see as a suddenness in feelings? Go back to even when I was a teenager, and I wouldn’t have questioned it. Given how I grew up, it would have made sense to me for the show to go in that direction. Wouldn’t have questioned it at all. 

It’s going to make complete sense to the casual viewer for them to be together. Complete and utter sense. Especially when Keith hasn’t interacted in a super personal sense with Lance since S3. If people who are super into the show don’t see it (which is legit), why would someone who watches it casually? If people who say they ship klance are so quick to give up when the smallest hint of something else happening? Yes, some people will pick up on it, but not like the online fandoms have. 

So if that is the ship that would absolutely make sense to the majority of viewers, the casual viewers, what would be the one that will end up coming out of nowhere to a lot of people?

Hmm. I wonder.

Perspective is an amazing thing. To people who really ship klance, it’s always been there. it makes sense. To people who don’t? They legitimately don’t see it. They really, truly do not. That’s okay. That’s their perspective. 

So, in a world where the current parents to young children grew up expecting a story where, if there’s a love interest, it’s going to be a super blunt heterosexual one, what really would seem like it came out of nowhere?

hello and thank you for signing up for yuletide, i hope you have fun during the challenge!

i ramble a lot so my letter is under a readmore (i put everything in one post so you don’t have to juggle links around). obviously you don’t have to follow any of the things i put in here, but hopefully this will help you out!

general things i like

PINING. I’M SUCH A SLUT FOR PINING ALL THE PINING ULTRA PINING SUPER PINING. i have SO MUCH FUN reading about idiots in love who aren’t together yet and i far prefer it to fics with already established relationships. this is also applicable to when they know the other is in love with them but they can’t act on it for some reason.

i’m down for either gen or romantic!! what really does it for me is the developing relationship, platonic or otherwise, and the character dynamics and interactions and all the little moments in between. stuff like developing trust and finding kinship and growing respect for the other and subconsciously learning to lean on the other over anyone else is far more important for me than any kissing will ever be (though kissing is also nice if you wanna go down that route lmao)

i love love LOVE enemies/rivals-?to-friends?-to-lovers and bickering pairs in general, as you can probably tell by my choice in character! it’s so much fun and it gives us so many opportunities for character and relationship developments :D

continuing from the above points, nothing kills me as much as characters that bicker all the time but in the end they rely on the other and go to each other before they go to anyone else, whether they realize it or not

i REALLY like the canon and characters for all the fandoms i picked, so sticking at least to their characterizations and the overall “tone” of canon is a huge plus!! “missing scenes” and “what if” canon-divergent situations are excellent, as are continuations from where canon left us! that being said, i also enjoy more conceptual AUs and i’ve put more details about those a little further below. rule of thumb is that i enjoy AUs where the focus remains more on the relationship itself and how it works on such a setting than on the worldbuilding for it.

fun tropes i enjoy (sorry, these are a bit romance-leaning but if you’re not into that they can probably be adapted somehow): fake dating, accidentally got roped into x and shenanigans of all sorts keep happening, misunderstood confessions, groundhog day au, one or both the characters having stupid levels of denial while technically in a relationship and just not realizing it like What Do You Mean We’re Dating??, that sorta thing.

general things i dislike

kidfics. babyfics. next gen fics. pregnancy fics, or even pregnancy discussed in the fic is a major squick of mine. the one exception i make for kidfics is for petshop of horrors when it comes to chris and the pets, as they already belong in canon, but no babies or children otherwise please.

future fics in general, actually. what i enjoy is the relationship development, so huge time skips make me feel like we missed way too much. one exception to this is post-canon petshop of horrors, for obvious reasons.

i usually don’t like most angst stuff since it feels a bit gratuitous to me when it comes to most fandoms and characters. the one exception for this is psoh (see below if you’re picking this fandom - and wow psoh seems to be the exception to everything huh) or when it’s a more introspective sort of fic. as a result of this, i’d pass on most content with major character death, sexual abuse, self-harm, the like, though of course there are always exceptions to the rule and you’re free to write as you wish!

hard AUs are a bit ugh to me. by this i mean AUs that rely heavily on setting, such as high school AUs, harry potter AUs, that sort of thing. i DO however enjoy stuff like siren AUs and soulmate AUs, depending on the concept and on the fandom. more details in their own sections if you enjoy writing those!

i heavily dislike things involving cheating/infidelity, sickfics, and genderbending of any kind is a bit ehhhh for me, as are concepts such as ABO. hard pass on stuff like dysphoria and deep diving into most mental illnesses, too (with a possible exception for depression when it comes to psoh). 

script-based or roleplay fic is not really my preferred format, i really enjoy prose instead of nearly all dialogue!

PETSHOP OF HORRORS

i’m usually not very partial to angst but GODS does psoh throw that out of the window, so feel more than free to run with it if you wanna go down that route.  psoh is RIPE for angst. we got two people with abandonment and inadequacy issues: leon who decided to leave his whole life behind to chase someone who gave him life and then left and initially didn’t even bother to do it with any sort of goodbyes, and d who is supremely fucked up by his upbringing and had to push leon off the ark to continue his family’s mission and let drop one (1) single tear that he was not supposed to cry over a human. those fuckers. those idiots. i love them so much.

THAT BEING SAID, i also!!!! love slice of life shit for them!!!!!!!! GODS i love how much they bicker but then they turn around and the other is the person they rely on the most and who they trust implicitly above all others and how they keep roping each other into ridiculous shenanigans. neither of them are particularly communicative with a few rare exceptions, so there’s also a lot of room there for introspection and unspoken affection on both sides, which i LOVE. my son leon in particular is also super underestimated when it comes to his intelligence and tolerance for gay shit both in canon and fandom, and he performs ridiculous leaps of logic and instinct that somehow turn out to be right but that are super ???? for everyone else involved, and that’s always fun to see. hell, just another missing scene where leon brings d some cake and they banter fondly over tea is A++++ to me!!

nsfw???? bring it!!! this is the one fandom where you’re more than free to go super dark and kinky if you wanna, or if you wanna write tender loving reunion sex where d cries a little while leon is loving and disbelieving and so very careful that’s also excellent! i don’t have a particular preference on who tops either, it’s fun either way, but i tend to see leon more as a sub/masochist >u> i can also see it going a bit dark with those two, especially considering d and his kind (implied to eat human flesh and being predators more than once) so bloodplay and cannibalistic thoughts could be fun. re: d’s genitals (as are hotly debated in the fandom), i usually prefer either a dick or triple threat d, though some fun plant-man shenanigans also have their place here.

all in all, psoh is the most excellent genre triangle where i’d be super happy to receive anything on the slice-of-life/angst/smut corners! (also, slash is 3249823% acceptable if you couldn’t tell by my ranting, as is a hint of crack)

if you’re thinking going AU on this one, my suggestions are of slight universe alterations instead of major world AUs. examples could be soulmate AUs (trope subversion would be GREAT here, aka foreign script they didn’t initially recognize, or only Ds having soulmates while humans do not, or the same scenario as the last but leon DOES have it on his skin and just keeps it hidden because Normal Humans Don’t Have Birth Tattoos, or d never expected to have one because his kind is dead and yet when he pushes leon from the ark the soulmate bond is forged, etc), a different first meeting, or even missed connections when they did not know each other yet; something like papa being alive and brady bunch-ing it up with them and chris would also be both excellent and hilarious. epistolary form for those two is also fun! if you wanna go full universe AU, something like a vampire hunter leon could be very interesting >u>

SPINNING SILVER

WHERE DO I EVEN START. miryem and the staryk lord were my favourite part of the book; if the book was only their story i would have already been more than satisfied. the rest of the book is also excellent, but those two???? that story was far too great. enemies to allies to lovers is one of my favourite tropes, and this is one of the examples that just keeps proving me right. the slowly growing respect, the wariness when they both know what the other is capable of, the staryk lord getting hit with the hots for his wife when she manages the impossible and then miryem being unable to just let it go when he’s imprisoned and defeated. ACTUALLY lemme just grab that line of thought and bring up that moment when he was sorrowful and resigned when miryem didn’t argue further for the three rooms full of gold and he thought she would not succeed and that she would have to die for it. that, right there? those moments of renewed respect, those moments sudden longing for something they did not know they wanted? those are the things that kill me.

tonally, i love the sort of writing in canon too much to ask for anything different, though you’re by no means obliged to keep to it or to 1st person pov (i have a love-hate relationship with 1st person pov, ngl). missing moments from the novel or moments from the period of time they spent either courting or apart would be GREAT. for those two i actually don’t mind it too much if they’re already established, if it’s early on in the relationship when they’re still learning how to step around one another. the staryk lord flabbergasted or in awe of miryem is always Excellent(TM). bits of worldbuilding and staryk culture would be fun as applied to their relationship (such as the names thing, or courting habits, etc) as are AUs such as soulmates or alternate meetings and the like. if you’re wanting to go full universe AU, keeping some fairytale elements would be great!

if you’re going for nsfw? the name kink, holy shit that would be so goooood. the staryk lord being a bit of a masochist under miryem’s hands would also be great, and inhuman staryk genitals and erogenous zones/acts would be great to play with such as human body heat affecting them in different ways from normal, etc. bringing in his long hair would be a major plus. the build-up for the actual act is the best, so miryem and the staryk lord being super hot for each other while either denying it internally pre-relationship or being unable to go through with it post-relationship due to several factors (busy dealing with their people, no privacy, etc) would be EXCELLENT. so much fun can be had here!

PRINCESS AND THE FROG

i am 100% aware this is a weird-ass pairing but gods, the possibilities. it has so much potential. there are few things i like quite as much as a villain and a good person developing a strange sort of kinship with each other. this doesn’t have to mean in a romantic way, obviously! as i said, for me it’s the building understanding and reluctant respect that i really love, far more than the actual romance. 

ideas, ideas, ideas. i’m aware this is a rare relationship to either portray or ask for, so i’m gonna try to give some more concrete-ish ones for you to build up on if you have no clue as to how to approach this. we could have canonverse with charlotte dealing with the shadowman in some other matter while the main plot is occurring, making him feel somewhat guilty about the whole marriage plot with laurence-turned-naveen; cue introspection or an entirely different outcome. or a post-canon sort of hades&persephone plot, with charlotte curious despite herself and tempted to listen to a shadow/dead/whatever!dr facilier when she’s the only one that can hear him, or her being dragged Beneath as well in a freak accident and then charming him into helping her back to the surface/living world (very, veeeeery reluctantly on his part, at least at the start, he might have even be thinking of tricking her but then change his mind when the time comes to do it). i think dr facilier wouldn’t be sure how to deal with charlotte’s particular brand of personality and good humour, and it’d throw him off his rhythm a lot - that sort of thing is always super fun to write. 

soulmate au in canon would work pretty well, but with this pairing? FULL WORLD AU IS YOURS FOR THE TAKING. keeping to the shadowman sort of thing to her normal bougie self would be a major plus; it’s one of her charms. also, charlotte thinking that she wants one thing (her prince, for example) while keeping getting drawn to him time and time again could work on pretty much any era or setting. vice-versa for him, thinking he wants to be rid of her but coming to realize he’d actually miss her if she were to be gone. OR, charlotte deciding she wants this sullen manipulative bastard and manipulating HIM into taking her out and hanging out with her would be hilarious.

if you wanna do nsfw, i have only one major request: charlotte calling the shots/topping. i think this arrangement would be entirely in character for both of them (dr facilier would prob also enjoy having someone else do all the work lol) considering her go-getter attitude, but keeping in mind his manipulative personality i’d be more comfortable if she had some control over what was happening. ASIDE FROM THAT, dyou know what would be fun? a little darkness, and by that i mean consider dr facilier’s shadow joining in on the fun. shadows would also be an interesting sort of constraint. also i know i said charlotte calling the shots, but she can be constrained by the shadows while being amused by it or being used for it to happen (the latter case implying it’s not the first time that they’ve used it in bed play), or charlotte could team up with Shadow to do it to facilier instead. charlotte using her nails and facilier being a bit of a sub/masochist would also be pretty good!

(actually in general it’d be really fun if there was some complicity between charlotte and facilier’s shadow in general, regardless of nsfw or not. the shadow being wrapped around her little finger is an excellent concept, especially if facilier isn’t too fond of her just yet lmfao.)

Highschool AU: Having a crush

Madara

Madara is the kind of guy who is at the same time super popular, but on the other hand nobody talks to him - and he doesn’t want them to, either. He’s distant, quiet, but super attractive and has got a sharp mind. Basically: one half of the school absolutely loves him and wants to date him, the other half hates him. There are going to be veeeery few people who don’t have such a strong opinion on him. He’s talked about, although he barely ever talks. I think for him it is most likely that he’ll fall for someone who is more or less of indifferent to him. I mean, he is probably a huge dick to those who hate him, and fangirls and fanboys annoy him, but if there is someone… who is interested but doesn’t freak out when they see him, he’d dig that.

Although not necessarily friends, there are some people he hangs out with. And they’ll notice right away, even if he doesn’t say anything about it. He won’t push it, won’t try and come close to you on school grounds - because honestly, you’d be the center of attention pretty quickly and Madara doesn’t want that for you.

Hashirama knows, Izuna knows, Tobirama suspects it.

It’ll surprise him, honestly? He doesn’t understand? He probably pretends for a while that they aren’t even that great, why am I so attracted? But he won’t fight it for long. He… wants this future s/o.

Observes them as much as he can. He won’t go out of his way to watch them in school, but he’ll sometimes walk around town too see if you’re hanging out somewhere, and he’ll remember those places. As much as he wants this crush to be his - once he accepted the fact that yes, he is crushing - he’ll be quite the jealous, curious admirer. He wants to know who you’re hanging out with. He wants to know you.

There will be a point, it might be quite sudden, where he realizes it’s more than a crush, and it’s something he needs to take seriously. And at this point, his withdrawn nature will vanish. He can be quite bold - a little bit too much sometimes perhaps - and he’ll make sure you know one thing: He is interested, and he has good reason to believe that so is his crush. He’s confident, almost cocky when finally approaching his crush. That calms down once he’s actually in the relationship he wants, but courting means showing himself off.

Very protective and jealous, even before you’re together he might treat you a little bit like you already are. He won’t let anyone come close to you, he’ll show up at places you are and basically demand you spend time with him. He’ll be busy protecting you from his fans, but he doesn’t shy away from putting his foot down and telling them to back the fuck off.

And he can be a smug asshole if he notices that you’re getting more and more interested in him.

Hashirama

what an actual angel. this is my first time writing hashirama and I lOVE HIM

Sunshine. Tries to be friends with everyone, probably school council or something! Some people don’t like him out of jealousy, but honestly, he is like the queen bee? So good so pure?

He really does try to be friends with everyone. And not just lets-talk-in-the-hallway-when-no-other-friends-are-around. No, he’ll get to know the people as good as he can, he’ll make time for everyone. Sometimes he slacks off a little and his grades are sometimes not thaaat good but that’s because he’d rather spend the whole night talking on the phone with a friend who’s going through a rough time than studying for a test. But luckily he has Tobirama XDDD

It would be so obvious if he had a crush. He is usually so open with everyone, but as soon as his crush walks by, he goes shy!!! Red face, stutters, the whole package! But the more time he spends with them and gets to know them, the more comfortable he will be around them. He’ll try to show off a little, too, but it’s all playful and sweet. Actually a lot of “dates” before you actually go out.

Wants to get to know everything about you, hence why he always does stuff with you. He will try to be your best friend!

He talks about you sooooo much it’s annoying to everyone else. Like, he just can’t shut up???? You’re so great???? He’s like a fanboy

Will probably try to wait for a good day like Valentine’s Day or maybe even prom to ask you out. He wants it to be special! Honestly, you’ll know it’s coming because as soon as the idea is in his head, he’ll get so giddy about it! Also, he IS very honest with his feelings and even before properly confessing he will tell you how amazing you are and how important you are to him.

Since he makes all potential fanboys or fangirls his friends, there is little jealousy from anyone else - they’re happy for him!! He is always taking care of others, now someone can take care of him!

Totally takes you to prom with a super nice suit, flowers and the sweetest smile! Your parents will love him immediately!

Tobirama

Grades, grades, grades, sarcastic jokes, grades, leave me alone, grades.

Without a doubt one of the students with the best grades. Even if there are some things he doesn’t know, he studies like crazy, so he aces practically every test or exam. Nerd.

He doesn’t like having crushes, honestly. It’s distracting, and he is a guy who has intense emotions, if he has them. Although, it’s gotta be someone special! Not necessarily someone expectionally clever or somethhing but… just someone who interests him. Someone who’s confident and sticks to what they believe might be a good match for him?

He avoids them for a while, so much that it becomes quite obvious to the people close to him aka his brothers. They would notice quite quickly how he grows all quiet and broody when his future s/o walks by

He will be quite cold to you when he first starts having this crush,but the more time he has to get used to it, the more he opens up. He’s still that straight-faced douche but he’ll try and help you out. Study with you, carry some heavy books, things like that. Never over the top because he feels awkward with the possibility of showing his feelings

But his crush is very likely to notice how much effort he puts into caring for them - for other people it might not be a lot, but everyone who knows Tobirama sees that he’s being careful with them

it will take him a while to confess, if he does at all. I think it would be good for his crush to confess tbh because this boy pretends to be SO cool but in reality…. he’s shy af. Don’t tell him I said that.

It’s a possibility that Hashirama sets you two up. Or tries to. Tobirama will hate him.

If he DOES ask you out, expect flowers, a blush on his cheeks and a very secluded place far away from school. If you accept his feelings, I feel he’d give you this really awkward but adorable first kiss. He isn’t touchy-feely by any means, but he does want to show you he’s serious. Because with his unromantic attitude he fears that his crush could doubt his feelings

Ino

Busy little bee. She is one of the popular girls, with a lot of fake friends and very few good friends. She can get along with anyone if she tries, but usually she doesn’t bother trying.

Definitely the one to get a crush on the popular guy, and will sometimes act like they’re already dating in front of her friends. But those aren’t actually true feelings. Yes, she is head over heels, but it’s not like her heart beats only for that person. People might think she only likes that guy because as the popular girl she should like the popular boy, right?

She has quite the mouth on her, so many schoolboys would be intimidated or annoyed by her. Even in this setting I could see her falling for someone like Sai tbh

But Highschool Ino is at heart quite open to people. She understands them pretty well and even though she has become good at manipulating people, she would be quite… shy around a guy she truly cares about. But she wouldn’t want all those fake friends to know. They’re likely to get hyped up over that person, following Ino’s example and having “crushes” on him themselves. And there would be some who would try and take hm away from her. She doesn’t want that, so she keeps those truly pure feelings to herself.

Actually admires intelligence a lot. Likes to be treated as an equal. Can have quite the temper. But… she is actually a very caring admirer, even though it will be outside of school, mostly.

If he really is quite smart, she would definitely try to get him to tutor her. And honestly, though she is constantly swooning on the inside, she does give her best to impress her crush - and her grades show it.

Yes, she would very much like to be asked out instead of doing it herself. But she isn’t a very patient girl. So if the crush just doesn’t say anything about it… she will do the asking out.

Probably in the heat of the moment. Maybe after a studying session?

Will expect want you to ask her to prom. She is one of the people who really want prom to be special, she wants to wear the prettiest dress and to dance all night with the boy she loves! So yeah, do that for her, even if you can’t dance!

Temari

I can see Temari as the sporty, cool girl. She’s got quite  temper, but she makes good friends and basically turns school into a fun time for herself and others! She isn’t the most popular one, but she doesn’t want to be super popular either! She has pretty decent grades, has some good laughs… and gets into some fights. So a pretty awesome girl tbh

It’s not easy to fluster her, or to get her attention if you’re not already one of her friends. But she can be bold with her affections. Although… it takes time for her. She doesn’t want to fall into a relationship unprepared! I can see her having a crush on someone who used to irrritate her. Someone who is bold and confident like her, someone who can keep up with her. But no matter who she falls for, she can be quite the tease.

She isn’t too obvious about it when she likes you, but she doesn’t hide it either. If you find out.. she’ll smirk and hide her emotions behind a confident reply. “Well, duh, I like you! Was about time you noticed!”

She tells her friends about that crush, and they help getting the crush into their group, too. So yeah, you’ll be her friends’ friend too. Which means you cann all hang out together and she can get to know you and swoon over you without anyone becoming suspicious too early on. Probably has some code like “no dating before you haven’t had your crush for three months!”

Actually, she really might do that! And after three months of crushing on you.. she’ll try to get more alone time with you.

Temari has two noisy brothers. Two noisy brothers who want to know what their sister is up to and why she spends so much time with this person.

Honestly it depends on her crush whether she asks them for a date or they ask her. She is bold enough, and honestly, that tiny blush will be so cute! But she’d also like to be asked out!

- and yES THERE’S NO DOUBT THIS BOY’S GOT HELLA CONFIDENCE

- but tbh I think he would totally lose his cool for a girl he has a huuuge crush on

- it would probably take a whole lot of time for him to realize he likes you but

- once he does

- oh man

- he’s gonna be falling so freaking hard and it will be super obvious at times

- mainly bc the members won’t be able to keep secrets from you for shit lmao

- but there will be plenty of moments when he’ll slip up a bit and give a few hints

- so you’re an intern at pledis entertainment, assisting in the management of Seventeen

- meaning you see Seventeen every time you show up for work !! (where do I sign up)

- and by the third week of your internship, you’re practically best friends with all of them bc you’re just so friendly and open and talented and aDORABLE

- well, best friends with all of them except one:

- except he’s not sassy when he’s around you

- in fact he’s the exact opposite

- you managed to get to know all of the other Seventeen members, but getting to know Seungkwan was a challenge

- he thinks of how much is at stake when he talks to such a cool, funny, talented, adorable, pretty girl like-

- wait, he thinks

- it hits him when he’s up thinking about you one night :,)

- first thing he does when he wakes up the morning after his realization is tell Vernon about his crush on you bc verkwan m8

- Vernon, knowing your open nature with everyone, encourages Seungkwan to initiate the friendship first, saying that it’ll be easy

- but Seungkwan yells something along the lines of “VERNON I CAN’T JUST WALK UP TO Y/N LIKE THAT, I’M AFRAID I’LL SAY SOMETHING DUMB AND SCARE HER AWAY.”

- but Vernon is just like, “dude, you’re not gonna get anywhere if you don’t become friends first. And besides, she loves dumb jokes. Y/n is probably the nicest human being alive.”

- just before Seungkwan can counterattack Vernon’s argument, Jeonghan pops his head into their room and says, “Seungkwan, you like y/n? ;);)));)”

- Seungkwan activates his “aggressive denial mode” and shakes his head rapidly while saying “nononono” as fast as he can

- and ofc the day just gets better when Seokmin and Soonyoung peep into the room with wide grins, having overheard the news as well

- and as much as Seungkwan tries to convince them that he had said nothing concerning you, they don’t believe him bc cMON THIS BOY WAS SO FREAKING LOUD WHEN HE WAS YELLING AT VERNON ABOUT YOU LMAO

- soon enough, word of Seungkwan’s crush spread among the members and the poor guy was fucked l o l

- so later in the day, the members head over to the company building, where they usually see you. As you encountered a few of the members individually throughout your afternoon, they would subtly hint at you about Seungkwan or ask you if you had any particular member that you liked (which you weren’t sure how to answer)

- but you definitely sensed something going on and it began to bother you

- however, when you bump into Wonwoo, he asks you something different:

- “hey y/n, why aren’t you too close to Seungkwan?”

- you sigh and explain to him that you really do admire Seungkwan from afar but he’s been giving you a feeling that he doesn’t want to be friends with you with his distant nature

- Wonwoo nods in understanding, thanks you for telling him, and you both part ways, leaving you still in a mystery

- later that evening, the guys are all back in the dorm and Soonyoung brings up Seungkwan’s little crush as a dinner discussion topic

- Seungkwan tries to defend himself with denial, but fails when Vernon hesitantly confirms the crush

- little boo is a blushing mess and hides his reddened face with his hands as the boys discuss ways to get you to like him

- until Wonwoo brings up what you had told him earlier in the day concerning your awkward acquaintanceship with Seungkwan

- Seungkwan lifts his head from the table and brightens at the mutual-ish wish to create a good friendship

- you can imagine all the members hollering in OOH’S at blushy boo

- so the next day, Seungkwan decides to talk to you and you guys finally become friends :D

- the two of you get close right away and Seungkwan is able to loosen up in front of you a little more every time he gets to hang out with you

- but he sometimes reverts to his shy and blushy self when the members embarrass him in front of you

- like one time, Seokmin pushed Seungkwan and sent him hurdling towards you and B A M you were suddenly in Seungkwan’s arms, faces suuuper close

- Seungkwan immediately stepped away from you and apologized for the sudden collision (even though the both of you really didn’t mind ;););)

- and Chan almost spilled the beans another time so all the members had to distract you from the spoiler with some other random topic (you can also imagine the hyungs covering up Chan’s mouth and Seoksoon distracting you with loud noises lol)

- BUT ANYWAYS, shall we discuss some common crushing habits Seungkwan would have ;)?

- well he’d definitely be the type to show off his singing and dancing skills whenever you’re around, trying extra hard to hit perfect notes/dance sharply

-he loves to make you laugh, so he’d try hard to be funny when he can be

- he’s also the type to play hard-to-get, like he’d make sure you’d be the one to greet him when you guys pass by each other sometimes, just to reassure himself that you’re still aware of his existence lolololol

- would have the brightest smile whenever he’s around you omg, if Seokmin is the sun, Seungkwan’s smile would be another pretty bright star :,)))

- whether he’s complimenting you or you’re complimenting him, he’s going to blush so hard it’s just fnscijfbcfvifbvofs cute

- every now and then, he’ll softly mutter a compliment to you like “ah, you’re so pretty.” and you’d be like “did you say something?” and he’d just snap “NO, NO I DIDN’T PFFT WHAT?”

- at night, he’d find himself thinking of all the cute things you can do as a couple but then catch himself with these thoughts and yell into his pillow in agony/frustration/embarrassment

- “thinking of y/n, huh,” Vernon would say to him whenever Seungkwan yelled like that

- Seungkwan would roll on his bed before replying:

- “she’s just so.... perfect. What do I do with myself...”

- it would take this boy a lot of time and hesitation before he’d confess to you

- it would be simple confession though, he probably wouldn’t go too crazy with planning cute stuff like a serenade or something over-the-top like that because he knows he’d be too nervous to kidney function

- you guys would probably be sitting on the floor in the practice room alone, just hanging out, and he’d look down before suddenly saying:

- *soft voice* “I like you.”

- “Wait what?”

- “I said...”

- “Huh?”

- *even softer voice, barely audible* “I like you, y/n.”

- “Seungkwan, I can’t hear what you’re-”

- “ARE YOU DEAF? I SAID I LIKE YOU.”

- “You... what?”

- Seungkwan looks you sternly in the eyes. “I like you, y/n.” He looks down again and plays with his fingers as he blushes. “I really really like you.”

- you look down and blush as well. “I’m glad, because I... I kinda like you... like a lot.”

- Seungkwan can’t help but surprise you with a quick peck on the cheek, making you look at him.

The sickly, sweet smell was inescapable - allusion to the Blossom’s influence on the town, how all-pervading their power is? And how they leave their mark on everything? That last comment by Cheryl after she kisses Archie - about her lipstick being Maple Red and the sweet taste being because of it? Was it really necessary? Is it some sort of clue? I love how Maple Syrup stands for so many things in this town - For the Blossoms, its obviously power and legacy; and its also the symbol for slut shaming so does that link slut shaming to the Blossom clan somehow? Its sweet, its sticky, its red - hmmm, blood is sticky and red too....

Alice shows no surprise at Juggie being there, means she knows, or she let him in. So Bughead already has the stamp of approval from Mama Cooper! It could be that Alice saw how their extreme disapproval had affected Polly (and Jason) and hence she decided not to do the same to Betty? Or maybe she genuinely likes Juggie like Madchen has said? 

Her deciding to go after the Blossoms reeks of anger about her own failure to get her daughter back. She talks about the Cooper-Blossoms feud, but its really something else, something we will know only in ep 12. What the Blossoms really did to the Coopers. Why would Alice hate the Blossoms so much for what they did to her husband’s grandpa? This is personal (Hal says as much)

“According to your milquetoast father”- what’s with Alice calling Hal all these coward names? What did Hal do or didn’t do that was so cowardly? She brought this up earlier - when Betty questioned Hal if he had killed Jason - she said he wouldn’t have the stomach for it. 

Seriously did Alice hate Jason so much just because he knocked up her daughter? She was hoping he’d rot in hell when they found his body, she was positively gloating when the coroner told her about scavenger activity and him being tortured, she thinks killing him would be a brave thing to do. This much hatred for a boy who got her daughter pregnant? Alice can be dramatic I know, but this is a bit too much, even for her.

Ronnie and Hermione

I’m glad Hermione told Ronnie exactly what was happening with Fred and how Hiram had gotten to know about them

Seriously the kids in this show seem so much more mature than the adults, Ronnie tells her mom to come clean - this is a small town, tell him before he gets to know from anyone else.

Cheryl and Archie

What’s with all this sudden interest in Archie, Cheryl? Has she always been interested? Remember Betty warning Ronnie in the pilot not to talk about Archie when Cheryl approaches them? Do they have a history? I don’t want Kevin or Reggie, I want you. She makes it seem as though it was all about him defending her to Sheriff Keller, but idk.

Ethel and Ronnie

Ronnie recognized Ethel’s poem for what it was - a cry for help. Then her confession to Kevin about what she and her BFF at Spence did to a girl called Paige (and the girl had to have therapy and transfer schools). Clearly she feels guilty as hell. Ronnie is trying to change and that’s what’s the best thing about her. She hardly ever backslides on her mission, in fact the only glimpses we see of the old Ronnie is possibly the regret laced in her voice when she talks about what they lost. 

I love that she immediately talked to Ethel and offered compassion and kindness. Ronnie is such friendship goals - really! 

Archie and Penelope Blossom

That far angle camera shot with both of them standing made me think they were gonna kiss! Archie - you truly are a ginger stallion offering rides to anyone who cares to get on!

Penelope brought up that jersey thing again - not only brought it up - they actually showed us that moment from the funeral when Archie offered her Jason’s jersey which makes me think this is important somehow. The fact that Penelope commented on his resemblance to Jason yet again - ‘i swear when the light hits you just right” - makes me wonder if that theory about him being the victim might not be true? Or the resemblance may not be concerned with the murder itself but to some other secrets that maybe revealed as to the truth of these kids’ real parentage? If Cheryl and Jason are not really Blossoms, then the whole legacy plot-line fails. Jason is not the heir, neither is Cheryl. 

Why does everyone need to reiterate the fact that Archie is good and decent unlike everyone else in this town??? Show us, don’t tell us. We had Cheryl, Mr and Mrs Blossom all talk about his great character and his goodness. Why are they rubbing in that fact? Is it not obvious? Or is it foreshadowing that he really is not good and decent and is going to do something dastardly? Or is it that in the Blossom’s book, good and decent people can be bought and /or used to their advantage? Like maybe they used some other good and decent people? Eg; Mary Andrews. What if Penelope was barren and couldn’t have children and since it was so important for the Blossoms to have a heir, Clifford had Jason and Cheryl with Mary (they need not have slept together, IVF and surrogacy were viable options) or someone else entirely? Maybe Fred needed money to set up the business and Mary was paid handsomely for it. And Fred wasn’t entirely on board with it, hence the tension between him and Mary and also the reason why they separated years later? Could this be the secret Fred is keeping? It was said that Cheryl and Jason’s twincest would be explored in this episode, but not quite in the way we expect. Was it an allusion to Cheryl kissing Archie? I know this theory has a hole because why would Clifford and Penelope actively encourage Archie to hang out with Cheryl? But I’m excited at the possibility that there maybe a link somewhere - Archie resembling Jason cannot just be a coincidence. The theory that Archie may not really be Fred’s son but Mary and Clifford’s has already been talked about. This could also be a reason for Fred and Mary to split if he found out years later. And maybe Cliff didn’t know, Mary never told him cause she was already married to Fred or something? But they’re drawn to Archie because he reminds them of Jason. Else its hard to understand the Blossom’s fixation with him! Archie’s loyalty to his dad keeps coming up too, he was willing to give up his musical career if Cliff would help his dad’’s business. It would be poetic if Fred wasn’t really his dad, yet they have this inextricable bond.

Archie was very believably seduced by the promise of a great musical future at the Bradenburg school and who wouldn’t be?

Jughead being the first to deduce that Mrs Blossom offering something to Archie cannot be without any strings attached - he’s so razor sharp, this boy!

Ronnie is wise - she knows its hard to get by without connections but also that these connections come with a price-tag.

She looks to Betty for support, but Betty thinks its a great idea. Throwback to Archie asking Ronnie for support when Betty was attacking him about the Grundy thing, and Ronnie sides with Betty! Methinks Betty wasn’t thinking about Archie here, she wanted someone to get info on her sister for her, which is okay!

Cheryl was so nervous about the tree tapping thing, Archie’s encouragement got her going. Cheryl demeanor is a facade, she’s lost and lonely and also bitter and jealous. She wanted her parents’ attention, but Jason got it, he became the Golden boy. So she resorted to wild erratic behavior to get her parents’ attention. Inside, she’s just messed up, she craves approval and attention. Like all attention hungry kids she will do whatever it takes to ensure that all eyes are on her. She loves flattery and is immediately susceptible to anyone who even shows her a modicum of kindness, which shows she hasn’t had much growing up. Her parents are horrible to her, her brother was good to her, but he died. I wonder if her yearning for her parents’ approval made her hate Jason to deep down? Or at least resent him for being the favorite? Did she inwardly rejoice when he decided to run away, knowing that now her parents would now rely on her with Jason gone? Maybe they’d even cut him off from their legacy and she could be the heir? I did support the Cheryl killed Jason theory because of this notion. She does have a motive. If it were to come out that she actually really hated Jason and was jealous of him, she would have a very good reason to do away with him. It could also be that she loved him just like she says she does, and still thinks Polly killed her brother. That’s why she reddened Polly’s face and why she was the one to ask her to come stay with them in Thornhill. 

Polly thinks the Blossoms killed Jason, Cheryl thinks Polly did and the Blossoms just want their heirs aka Jason’s children that Polly’s carrying. Ugh! What a mess!

Archie standing up for Cheryl was sweet  and very Archie-like but it was a tad overdone - “Don’t underestimate Cheryl”? Don’t bet against her”? I think its foreshadowing about how crazed, dangerous and vindictive Cheryl really can be if you get on her wrong side which Archie managed to do by the end of the episode! Also her prompting him about her 4.0 GPA was so Cheryl!!! 

Archie gets sucked into escorting Cheryl to a banquet. And he’s going to have a suit tailor-fitted for the occasion! Poor sod!

So Ethel’s grandpa and dad are both called Manfred?

Hermione and Fred

Hermione finally came clean to Fred and told him about the land and the Lodges being the anonymous buyers. Fred was understandably pissed. Hermione is a smart cookie, maybe her business acumen is actually better than her husband’s and she’s the one calling all the shots while pretending to be this helpless, hapless woman. Didn’t Penelope say at the end that they should’ve sent Hermione to jail instead of Hiram?

So Clifford told Hiram that Hermione and Fred were together? Why? Just to gloat? Or to get him to sabotage his own building which is precisely what he did. So he knows exactly how Hiram would react. I’m curious about Hiram. If he was this cold-blooded businessman that everyone says he is, he wouldn’t react so impractically to his wife seeing Fred. He wouldn’t sabotage himself just for getting back at his wife’s lover, he could’ve thought up of other ways to deal with Fred. So Hiram loves Hermione, but does Hermione love Hiram? Was she just playing a game with Fred so he would get on board SoDale? But Fred was interested in SoDale anyway, She could’ve got him on board even without playing cootchie-coo with him. So did she really care? 

Fred toughened up and asked for a 20% stake and also ended things with him and Hermione. Which was great. Showed backbone and also his - I’m sick of you people using me and my family as pawns- speaks about his righteous anger against being taken for a ride. Hermione wasn’t pleased but had to grin and bear it for now. Hiram is certainly not going to be pleased.

BUT FEAR NOT, IT’S ONLY MOMENTARY. SINCE OUR BOY’S HAND IS BACK ON HIS GIRL’S BACK ALMOST THE IMMEDIATE NEXT SECOND! WHICH ALSO MEANS THE BUGHEAD RIFT IS GOING TO BE VERY VERY MOMENTARY AND THEY WILL BE BACK TOGETHER ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND STRONGER THAN EVER!

Ronnie telling Ethel her dad used to buy her expensive gifts whenever he did something wrong. Poor Ronnie. Her heartbreak at finding out Ethel’s dad had attempted suicide was so genuine, that scene was powerful and Camila played it very well, pulling apart the beads from her neck, symbolically destroying her dad’s hold over her. And her finally telling her mom she as done lying for him. It was a touch choice for Ronnie to make, loyalty to family or doing the right thing. I’m so glad she had the strength of character to make the more difficult choice!

Is she the one in danger that they’re trying to rescue in that snow scene like so many have already pointed out?

Cheryl kisses Archie twice and leaves a lipstick mark in this episode - on his cheeks and lips. Is this foreshadowing/ symbolism of some sort?

So Hal fired Alice and blocked her password? Really? He went there? And Alice calls him milquetoast?? More like fearless warrior to me! Hal showed his petty, vindictive side too, so there’s that!

So what’s this, Hal? You hate the Blossoms more than anyone, you don’t want to raise a child with Blossom blood, you have a personal vendetta against the Blossoms from before you were even born! And you’re telling Alice you won’t support her in HER personal vendetta? What even??? 

Okay, theory time! We know that Alice was mad at Hal for what he did to her - the same thing he did to Polly. But he only made an appointment for Polly. He may have done the same for Alice, but does that make it obvious she actually aborted the child? Maybe she gave it up for adoption (this was a choice the Coopers were on board with even for Polly)? Maybe the child was Cliff Blossom’s and that’s why Hal’s extreme hatred for any child with Blossom blood? Maybe Cliff raped Alice and got away because of his powerful connections and that’s why Alice’s extreme hatred for Cliff? I know it sounds crazy but it could explain a lot. I initially thought that Jason and Cheryl could be Alice’s kids (with Clifford) and they gave them up to the Blossoms to raise since Penelope was barren or whatever, but then Polly and Jason incest - yewww! But it would be delicious if the twins thing were actually a Cooper family thing and not a Blossom family one like everyone’s thinking, no??

Alice certainly has rage issues, throwing a brick at your husband, calling him a bastard all in front of your teenage daughter? WTF Alice?

What were Cheryl and her dad arguing about when Archie was dancing with Polly?

Polly was playing Nancy Drew, I was right! But she’s being foolish. She’s heavily pregnant (with twins!) and she needs to protect her babies first. She entered the enemy’s lair without a thought for her own protection? She’s scared, she doesn’t want the Blossoms to know, which means she thinks they are dangerous. Why would she put herself and her babies willingly in harm’s way just because of the Cooper penchant for sleuthing? Also don’t understand how Betty and Alice can be okay with this madcap scheme?

Cheryl again with the you’re-the-only-good-person-in-this-town which changed the minute Archie wanted to leave. So she’s susceptible to flattery and also petty and vindictive when rejected. Did she kill Jason because he was kind of ‘rejecting’ her for Polly? Or was she secretly happy he was out of the picture so now she could become the focus for her parents?

There could be 2 reasons Cheryl hates Polly. One because Polly’s kids would be the heirs to the Blossom legacy and not her. After Jason she may have thought herself to be the sole claimant. But Polly being pregnant ruined everything for her. Btw, did they do a DNA/ paternity test yet to find if Polly is telling the truth about Jason being the father? The Blossoms are just taking Polly’s (and the Cooper’s) word for it? I think they would smell something underhanded knowing the Coopers are involved. Also Cheryl could hate Polly because she still thinks Polly killed Jason and wants to exact her own revenge on Polly. 

So Clifford sent Hiram to jail and that makes Hiram a suspect. But does this mean Hiram is really innocent? Or that Clifford just exposed his guilty ass?
