Headcanon that instead of hiding Aithusa’s egg in his satchel after rescuing it, Merlin master-of-disguise Emrys decides to just hide it under his shirt. Merlin thinks this is an expert plan because 1) there’s plenty of room in his tunic and 2) he can better ensure it won’t get jostled or cracked. In reality it just devolves into Arthur and the knight squad watching what looks like a spontaneously pregnant Merlin cradle his baby bump and frantically discussing how to protect their dumb sorcerer and deliver a magical baby.

AITHUSA PROTECTION SQUAD GO

As many things in this show, Aithusa was another wasted character. Great introduction, super promising, and as always, Kilgharrah giving some lines to make us all excited for it. And then they randomly gave her to Morgana, didn’t even bother showing how or why, just “oh yeah btw they were captured together”. And then neither Merlin nor Kilgharrah really cares about her fate, she gets send away in battle and that’s literally the final scene.

You wanted a pay off? Nah, they turned her into a plot device because Morgana needed a dragon and Excalibur v2.

Just remember that Aithusa didn’t want to leave Merlin

She knew that Merlin was her Dragonlord. She recognized him.

Merlin wakes, after a full day and a half of sleeping, feeling refreshed and ready to proceed. Arthur has a brief conversation with him before the day fully starts, leaving Merlin feeling confused about what certain interactions meant.

Merlin covers Agravaine coming to Gaius in search of Emrys' identity, finding and hatching Aithusa, being tortured by Morgana, the Catha and their loyalties, what really happened with the Lamia, and Lancelot's shade.

Loki does not handle hearing of the Lamia incident well. Though neither does Thor.
