How to Plan the Perfect Glamping Getaway?
Tumblr media
Glamping, a fusion of glamour and camping, has taken the world by storm. Combining the rugged beauty of nature with the comforts of luxury, it offers the best of both worlds. But planning the perfect glamping getaway requires more than just booking a tent. From picking the right location to ensuring you pack the essentials, here's everything you need to create a memorable experience.
1. Choose the Perfect Glamping Destination
Selecting the right location is the first and most critical step. The beauty of glamping is its flexibility, allowing you to camp in diverse landscapes such as mountains, forests, beaches, or deserts. Consider what kind of environment excites you most.
Top Glamping Destinations Worldwide
Yosemite National Park, USA – Surrounded by towering cliffs and waterfalls, this destination offers an ideal blend of wilderness and cozy luxury accommodations.
Scottish Highlands, UK – Misty hills, rugged terrain, and peaceful seclusion make this one of the most serene spots for a glamping retreat.
The Outback, Australia – For the more adventurous, glamping in the Outback offers proximity to unique wildlife and incredible natural beauty.
Tuscany, Italy – If rolling hills and vineyards are more your style, glamping in Tuscany provides a relaxing escape paired with excellent local wine and food.
Ensure that your chosen destination matches the season you're planning your trip. For example, glamping in the mountains during winter may require extra preparation, while glamping by the beach is best enjoyed in summer.
2. Pick Your Style of Accommodation
One of the biggest perks of glamping is the wide variety of accommodation options. Each option offers different levels of comfort and amenities. The key is to choose the one that best suits your preferences.
Popular Types of Glamping Accommodations
Luxury Safari Tents – These are larger than regular tents and come equipped with actual beds, en-suite bathrooms, and even air conditioning. Perfect for those who want the camping experience with minimal sacrifice on comfort.
Treehouses – For a more whimsical stay, treehouses offer breathtaking views and an immersive experience within nature.
Yurts – Originally used by Mongolian nomads, yurts are circular, tent-like structures that provide excellent insulation, often featuring wooden floors and even kitchens.
Airstreams and Tiny Homes – For those who prefer modern amenities, retro Airstream trailers and tiny homes combine mobility with sleek, minimalist interiors.
The right choice of accommodation can elevate your glamping experience, so be sure to pick one that caters to your comfort needs and preferences.
3. Plan Your Glamping Activities
While glamping often includes the joys of relaxing in nature, the surrounding area usually offers plenty of activities. Consider what experiences you want to incorporate into your getaway.
Popular Glamping Activities
Hiking and Exploring Nature Trails – Most glamping spots are near nature reserves, forests, or parks. Be sure to explore the trails for a deeper connection with the surrounding environment.
Wildlife Watching – If you're glamping in an area known for its wildlife, such as the African savannah or the American Rockies, bring along a pair of binoculars and a camera.
Water Sports – Glamping near rivers or lakes often includes options like kayaking, fishing, or even paddleboarding.
Stargazing – With minimal light pollution in many glamping locations, stargazing is a favorite activity. Some glamping sites even provide telescopes for a closer look at the night sky.
Outdoor Dining – Enjoy an alfresco meal under the stars. Many glamping resorts provide outdoor kitchens or BBQ setups.
Having a balance of activities ensures that your glamping trip is both exciting and relaxing.
4. Pack the Essentials
While glamping takes away much of the hassle of traditional camping, such as setting up tents or preparing for harsh weather, it’s important to pack wisely. The idea is to enjoy nature with comfort, so packing thoughtfully is key.
Glamping Packing List
Clothing – Pack for the weather. Layering is always a good idea, as temperatures can drop at night even in warmer areas. Don't forget comfortable hiking boots, hats, and sunglasses.
Toiletries – While many glamping sites have full bathrooms, it's always best to bring your own essentials. Eco-friendly products are often encouraged, especially in more remote locations.
Electronics – Even though many go glamping to disconnect, if you prefer to stay connected, bring a portable charger or a solar-powered battery pack. Don’t forget your camera to capture the stunning scenery.
Entertainment – Books, board games, or even a guitar can make for great downtime activities.
Food and Snacks – While many glamping resorts offer gourmet meals, you might want to bring your favorite snacks or picnic ingredients, especially if you plan on cooking.
Bringing the right gear can significantly enhance your glamping experience, making your stay more comfortable and enjoyable.
5. Opt for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Choices
Glamping is often about reconnecting with nature, and one way to show appreciation is by adopting sustainable practices during your stay. Many glamping sites are designed to minimize their environmental footprint, and guests can contribute by following eco-friendly guidelines.
Sustainable Glamping Tips
Use biodegradable products – Soaps, shampoos, and detergents that are kind to the environment are often required or encouraged by glamping hosts.
Minimize waste – Bring reusable containers, water bottles, and cutlery to reduce single-use plastics.
Respect wildlife – While glamping brings you closer to nature, remember to observe animals from a distance and avoid disturbing their natural habitats.
Support local communities – Opt for glamping experiences that collaborate with local businesses, ensuring your stay contributes positively to the region’s economy and culture.
By choosing eco-friendly practices, not only do you help preserve the environment, but you also ensure that future generations can enjoy the same beautiful landscapes.
6. Consider the Best Time to Go Glamping
Timing your glamping trip is crucial to its success. Different destinations are best suited for certain seasons, and understanding the weather patterns of your chosen location will help you plan accordingly.
Seasonal Glamping Considerations
Spring and Fall – These seasons are ideal for most glamping locations due to milder temperatures and fewer tourists. The beauty of blooming flowers in spring or the vibrant colors of fall foliage adds to the magic.
Summer – Perfect for beach glamping or mountain retreats where you can escape the heat. However, it’s also peak season for most popular spots, so book early.
Winter – For those seeking a cozy, snow-filled adventure, glamping in yurts or cabins equipped with wood-burning stoves is a dream come true. Popular destinations include Scandinavia, Canada, and the Rocky Mountains.
Careful planning regarding the time of year ensures your glamping getaway is as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.
Conclusion
Planning the perfect glamping getaway requires attention to detail, from choosing the right destination and accommodation to packing appropriately and planning activities. By embracing the balance of nature and luxury, you can create an unforgettable glamping experience that redefines camping.

A 3rd year film festival retrospective.
Scumdance (Reno’s premiere underground film festival) has just completed its third year.  As such, this would probably be a good time for a little retrospective and as the festival’s sole proprietor/curator I would be glad to let a little light shine into the inner workings of what it takes to start a film festival, what it takes to keep it running, why I do this in the first place, and the lessons learned along the way.
How did we get here?  In late 2016 I was having conversations with friends, co-workers, bandmates and fellow film nerds about how there was real lack of local film festivals geared towards horror, exploitation, underground, B-movie, etc. types of films.  At the time our band’s practice space was in a warehouse on the edge of town where a loose artist’s community of sorts had taken shape.  Pottery studios, sculpture gardens, graffiti murals, custom hot-rod builders, welding shops, theaters, antique dealers and so much more was all happening in this row of warehouses. One particular spot became hugely inspirational. Next door to our practice space was an event location (for lack of a better term) called the Black Rock Drive-In.  A novelties collector had taken several old cars cut them down, installed benches within and parked them in front of a movie screen like an old-time drive-in movie theater, complete with a western setting sun mural painted on the warehouse’s interior. Combine this with his collection of Airstream trailers, mid-century furniture and appliances, and WWII memorabilia and you had the makings of a great film set.
Standing outside that warehouse on a chilly evening, post band practice, and musing with our bass player Perry Disgrace, the thought was born… “We should totally put on a mondo-bizzaro film day with crazy movies and bands and just throw a party.” In the true DIY spirit of punk rock, the idea was born and efforts were put in place to manifest this reality.  When mentioning the idea to co-worker and fellow film nerd Gilbert Leiker, he responded “You should call it Scumdance and have the skanking guy from the Circle Jerks albums carrying a camera.”  Boom. Done. Within 20 minutes I had the logo and artwork in place.  I have a habit of taking ideas and running with them, even if they are not my own.  As Pablo Picasso is reported to have said “good artists borrow, great artists steal”… most likely he “borrowed” this from T.S. Eliot.
As for the details of what it takes to put on a film festival, it’s honestly not all that hard. All you need is a laptop, a projector, a screen, a sound system of some sort, some chairs, a venue, a Film Freeway account and a website.  Having submitted a good number of my short films to a variety of film festivals and having received all manner of rejection (more on that later), the drive to experience critical evaluation of films from the other side was also a strong motivator in bringing this festival about. I already had a website devoted to my filmmaking endeavors. Adding a page listing the event details and linking it to a Film Freeway account was straight forward.  Acquiring the necessary hardware and physical assets was just a matter of pooling resources and gathering items that I already had. The matter of finding a venue has at times proved challenging. The aforementioned Black Rock Drive-In closed. Our favorite dive-bar, in which we hosted the event’s first year, has closed.  Finding the right venue that has a bar, allows outside food to be brought in, while having the right mix of size, space, seating and availability hasn’t been easy; but we have been fortunate enough to work with some fantastic bar owners who have been very accommodating.
The festival itself, wouldn’t be what it is without the amazing filmmakers who have submitted some truly incredible films and the ever enthusiastic judges. The panel of judges was built from a pool of friends some of whom I’ve worked with on previous film projects, some just having shown an overwhelming interest in film and some asked to join the panel after having submitted to previous year’s festivals. It is this last group with whom I am most excited to work.
So why would anyone do this? It’s a question I ask myself every year. Does it pay off when you consider: The countless hours spent watching, rating, and reviewing the films; scheduling a date, finding and coordinating with the venue ,updating FF and the website, attending local meetings to be included in Reno’s Arttown, writing press releases to be distributed on horror sites, selecting the films,  sending out acceptance and rejection letters, scheduling a run of show, setting up all the equipment, running the festival,  bringing food and snacks?   By the time I finish up the event I find myself exhausted.  It wouldn’t seem that sitting in dark room watching movies all day would be that taxing, but mentally, and emotionally it takes a toll… hoping nothing goes wrong technically, hoping that everyone (or at least most attendees) find something enjoyable in the films, hoping that the venue owner and bar staff are not completely annoyed with the films and are making a decent amount of tips, and hoping that there is enough attendance to make it all worthwhile.  While it might be “easy” to put on a festival, putting on a quality festival takes effort. That’s effort I’m willing to put in.  I want to make it the kind of thing I would be delighted to attend.
Of the benefits that come from running a festival, the number one has to be the relationships established.  This is the reason we make films in the first place. It’s all about human connection.  As I was saying above it has become our practice to ask previous year’s submitters to become next year’s judges.  George Sukara, a producer from a film submitted in the first year (HELL! The musical), has become an instrumental part of the festival. His critical insights in judging and undying support have been phenomenal.  It was great to have him at the festival, hosting one of the Q&A sessions, and bringing with him a crew of folks from San Francisco.  One of the other connections made that first year was a gentleman by the name of Michael Joy who brought us a film (Red Christmas) with Dee Wallace of Kujo fame. I’ve been working with Michael on spreading the word about Scumdance through his connections with Artsploitation Films and Horrornews.net.  The second year brought us some great filmmakers from Canada and Indiana, in Grace Mathisen and Adam Laughlin respectively.  Their films were superb, and it was great to have them there in person. They too have gone on to become valued Scumdance judges.  This last year, brought us filmmakers from Toronto, Houston, and Los Angeles.   The Audience favorite, Llamageddon (it’s exactly as it sounds) was written and directed by a young woman who was going by the name “Howie Dewin.”  Her astonishment at winning overrode even her astonishment at being entered in the festival at all (apparently someone on her production team entered the film without telling her as a fun prank).   Even after having a breakfast coffee and a decently long discussion with her, I never did find out her real name. We’ll be stoked to have her as part of the judging staff next year, that is if she responds to her “howiedewin” email.
One of the other great benefits of running a festival (or being a judge) is the experience gained by viewing so may films, of all quality levels.  You learn all the things not to do when making a film.  You see time and again, the overused tropes, the stock and often pointless dialogue, the desire to shock without attention to narrative, and films that are far, far longer than they need to be.   After all this one quickly gains an appreciation for audible dialogue, well thought out story lines, character development, motivated camera movement, inspired score/soundtrack, and tightly edited scenes.
Another wonderful discovery has been the insight into cultures and communities throughout the world that one would not have accessed otherwise.  It has been amazing to see films submitted from the US, Canada, The Netherlands, India, the UK, Austria, Iran, Italy, Mexico, and even Belgium.  In particular the films we receive from Iran have been nothing short of mind blowing. There is something so special about those films.  They tend to be intensely creative, original, inspiring, and chock full of touching humanity in a way that almost makes me reluctant to place them amidst our other less wholesome faire. Also of note, are the LGBT films we receive.  This year we had a film dedicated to trans-persons from Nepal, that was a rare insight into portions of the world not ordinarily seen.
As previously promised, I think it’s worth mentioning the feedback process.  One common thing that I noticed from festivals I was submitting to, was a lack of quality feedback.  For way too many festivals, it doesn’t seem they could even be bothered to change the judging status on Film Freeway… or if they did, it wouldn’t be changed until well after the event date.   For other festivals, they would change the status and send out the standard generic rejection emails. While they were intended to soften to the blow of rejection, they would do little to inform or provide one with any sense as to what could have been improved on the film…. no information on what exactly about the film caused it to fall short of the mark.   It was with this experience in mind that I personally made the decision to include judge’s commentary in both the acceptance and rejection letters. I feel it’s the least we can do to provide the filmmaker with meaningful feedback.
This decision has mostly been met with appreciation, but in some cases the feedback was viewed as “arrogant, presumptuous, and dismissive.”  I can certainly understand how after spending the enormous amount of time, energy and effort that it takes to make a film how one would be incredibly protective of the work.  One exchange with an initially upset but later apologetic filmmaker, gave me clear cause to stop and think about my intentions and motivations. Was I intentionally levelling overly harsh criticism against those who submitted to my film festival, as a way of feeling superior for the failings of my own films? It’s certainly something I need to be cognizant of going forward.  In the future, I hope to continue providing the judges commentary, but will most likely do so after an explicit opt-in scenario.
In regard to my own films, I’ve come to realize with much more clarity than ever that my films were being rejected for completely valid reasons.  I’ve seen what it takes to make a good film and the number one rule is to be entertaining.   In the age of short attention spans and a bajillion choices, it’s difficult (but more important) than ever to gain and hold someone’s attention.
So what’s next for Scumdance?  One exciting possibility discussed with the San Francisco crew is the idea of taking Scumdance on the road.  Perhaps we select the best films from the past 3 years and do a screening in SF or LA.   At some point it would be nice to get Scumdance into a proper movie theater as well, a but the lack of any historical or art house theater in Reno limits our options.  Another exciting possibility is the idea of bringing in a real host… someone with real entertainment value... someone like the subject of this year’s winning documentary, the Phantom Troublemaker.
Of course, I couldn’t do this without the love and support of my wonderful wife Amelia. In all it’s been a great experience that has promoted growth in me as a filmmaker and as a person. It’s been the impetus to build meaningful relationships that I otherwise would not have done and has given me cause to provide much needed exposure to small films.  This is something I want to keep doing, while growing the festival in organic and manageable ways.
Viva Le Scumdance!

WHAT IS GLAMPING? (A GUIDE TO LUXURY CAMPING)
Glamping has become one of those increasingly popular travel industry buzzwords over the past few years. Combining the words “glamour” and “camping,” it’s a trend that has taken off as the rise of mass tourism has led more people to embrace the eco-friendly ethos of Responsible Travel. But what is glamping? How does it differ from traditional camping? And why is it becoming such a popular form of travel now? The catchy name might be relatively new, but the concept of glamping (a.k.a. luxury camping) has actually been around for hundreds of years. When Kings Henry VIII of England and Francis I of France met for the diplomatic summit known as the Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520, there were 2,800 tents set up in northern France. Many were palatial, set with lavish feasts and flowing fountains of wine. Around the same time, the Ottoman sultans were known their ostentatious tents, which were lavishly decorated by an army of artists. The tradition became more common in the early 1900s, when it became fashionable for rich American and European travelers to go on safari in Africa. These wealthy wanderers didn’t want to give up all the creature comforts of home. So safari camps began offering upscale options such as beds, en suite bathrooms, private verandas, and gourmet cuisine served atop fine lace tablecloths. These days, glamping offers myriad different options to suit any traveler’s taste and budget. For those who love the great outdoors, but prefer not to give up all the comforts of home, it’s an incredible alternative to “roughing it.” Here we’ll look at the definition of glamping, some of the many different styles of lodging available, and highlight 10 of the best glamping resorts in the world.
THE DEFINITION OF GLAMPING
According to the Oxford Dictionary, glamping is “A form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping.” The word was first used in the United Kingdom in 2005, but wasn’t added to the dictionary until 2016. It’s also known by other names, including luxury camping or boutique camping. But regardless of what you call it, the gist is that it offers travelers an opportunity to be out in the wild without having to carry and put up their own tents, sleep on the ground, or stumble to the bathroom in the dark. There are, of course, other major differences between glamping and traditional camping. Most glamping accommodations include beds, electricity, en-suite bathrooms (with showers), resort-style toiletries, coffeemakers, and sometimes even full kitchens. You can still cook s’mores on the open fire, but usually there’s a restaurant on-site serving more upscale cuisine. These days, glamping accommodations have become even more luxuriously lavish, with posh amenities such as flat-screen TVs, pillow-top mattresses, jetted tubs, heated slate floors, and personal butlers available.
GLAMPING TENTS & OTHER LODGING
From glampers and tipis to cabins, yurts, and treehouses, there are dozens of types of accommodations available for those seeking a mixture of rustic luxury and unspoiled nature. Here’s a look at a few of the more popular and interesting ones: GLAMPERS Glamping tents are arguably the oldest, most traditional type of lodging. If you’ve never seen one in person, safari tents are a far cry from the tiny little pup tents of your Boy Scout/Girl Scout days. They’re usually as big as a hotel room (if not bigger), with space for beds, nightstands, a dresser and more. Many have wood floors, electricity, WiFi, and various other luxury amenities. View the most gorgeous glampers from Tentickle Luxury Tents. YURTS Yurts have been used in Central Asia (particularly in Mongolian culture) for more than 3000 years. Traditional yurts have an expanding wooden circular frame and a cover made from felt, canvas or other material, designed to be set up or broken down quickly. Modern yurts may be much fancier: We stayed in one in Panama that was bigger than my first apartment! CABINS & COTTAGES If you’ve ever stayed in state or national parks, chances are you’ve spent some time in a cabin or cottage. Most are cozy, quaint, and surrounded by natural beauty. But of course there are cabins available that are as luxurious as your budget can afford. One advantage of this type of accommodation is that you can usually find options large enough to hold families of any size. TIPIS Similar to yurts, the tipi (or teepee) is a conical tent primarily used by the nomadic Native American tribes of the Great Plains. They’re traditionally constructed of animal skins and wooden poles, with two adjustable smoke flaps that allow for making campfires inside. The deceptively simple construction makes tipis warm in winter, cool in summer, dry during heavy rains, and easily transportable. TREEHOUSES With the success of TV shows like Treehouse Masters, this childhood favorite has grown increasingly popular for grown-ups. When done well, treehouses offer an incredible sense of immersing yourself in nature while minimizing your negative impact on the environment. Plus, sleeping up in a tree surrounded by forest is just really cool, no matter how old you are! CUBES & PODS Thanks to the rapidly growing “tiny house” trend, more and more people are finding ways to maximize the benefits of minimalism. Cubes and pods are one result: They’re quick and relatively easy to assemble, affordable don’t take up much space, and provide a sense of immersion in the environment. We saw lots of these on AirBnB during our recent trip to Scotland’s Isle of Skye. AIRSTREAMS & TRAILERS I grew up spending a good portion of my summers in a 2-bedroom trailer overlooking Georgia’s Lake Hartwell. That sense of nostalgia, combined with their inherent portability, has likely contributed to the rising popularity of Airstreams and trailers in the glamping community. We saw a lot of these available for rent (fairly cheaply) in Scotland as well. GEODOMES One of the newest types of Glamping lodging, geodesic domes were patented in 1954 by American architect Buckminster Fuller. The engineering of the dome makes it extremely strong and stable, allowing for the greatest volume of space within the least surface area. This makes Geodomes a great option for housing in places with extremely high winds, such as Chilean Patagonia and Arctic Finland. WAGONS & SHEPHERD’S HUTS From the wilds of Australia and New Zealand to the Wild West of the U.S., wagons seem to evoke imagery of early frontier exploration. In the UK and France, shepherd’s huts were used for some five centuries. So perhaps it’s no surprise that the back-to-the-land Glamping movement has adopted these two traditional structures as an innovative approach to low-impact accommodation. UNUSUAL GLAMPING STYLES You know the old Field of Dreams quote, “If you build it, they will come”? That seems especially true in the Glamping world, where the more unusual the accommodation, the better. Recent years have seen lodging opportunities becoming available in caves, underwater pods, ice hotels, and reconfigured planes, trains, and automobiles. What will they think of next? Recreational Vehicle: The Complete Guide [RVs] [Features, History, Types & Legality]
Tumblr media
RV is an abbreviated form of Recreational Vehicle. RV can be a motor vehicle or a trailer which includes living quarter for accommodation. The usages of RV is temporary accommodation while traveling but some people also use it for main residence purpose.
Features of RV
Typical features of an RV include a sleeping room, bathroom, and a kitchen. RV can be luxurious as well as utilitarian. The utilitarian one has a sleeping quarter and a kitchen whereas the luxurious one may have features like a water heater, air conditioning, televisions and communication systems. RVs can be self-motorized as well as trailers ones which have to towed behind a motor vehicle. Most of the RVs have a single deck but the double deck is also considered by campers. Nowadays more compact size of RVs consists of expandable sides which are called slide outs or canopies.
History of Recreational Vehicles
Early types of the caravan were horse driven and they were important during 1745 when they were used to explore the interior of North American continent. Till 1920 the RVs were popular in America and there were RV camping clubs across the country. In those days many companies were manufacturing house trailers, one of the company was Airstream. Until the 1950s the mobile home industry and RVs industry were the same where mobile homes were shorter than 9 meters long and were easy to transport. In the 1950s, The RVs and mobile home industry separated and this was the time when RVs manufacturers were building self-contained motorhomes. In 1810, wagons were made for accommodation rather than just transporting people and good in France. During the same time in Britain, showmen, and circus used to live in these wagons during the 1920s. Even during 1820s Romani people were using caravans for a living.  In 1929, the first motorhome was built in Australia. In 1910, the earliest motorhomes were built for cars and truck in Canada.
What is the use of RVs?
RVs are used as temporary accommodation for traveling. Although some people also use it as a main residence purpose. In the USA and Canada, snowbirding is the word which used to describe the traveling from clod to warmer areas in winter. Whereas, Grey nomad is the term used for a retired person who uses an RV in Australia.
Types of RVs
Class A Motorhome (Bus Conversion) These types of motorhomes are either made on truck chassis which is a specially designed vehicle chassis or even a commercial bus chassis. Most of the Class A motorhome looks like a bus in design and also have a flat or vertical front end. One special feature of this kind of motorhome is that they have large windows. Another feature which changed the industry is that now the motorhome was having wider living area because of slideouts. A portion of the vehicle now can come out to extend the inner area. During this time the vehicle has to be stationary mode.   Class B Motorhome (Campervan) These campervans are built by either raising the roof of a conventional van or by replacing the low-profile body such as a.k.a coach-built. But in Australia, you will find a Class B Motorhome quite different from a campervan because it based on a very large type of van which in turn is based on a truck. The weight of these kinds of motorhome can be up to 4500 kilograms. The length of it is up to 6.4 meters. Examples – Ford Trader and Isuzu NPR 300 Many of the Australian campervans are smaller vehicles but the middle ground is mostly populated by a large type of vans which is quite blurry in a definition of a campervan and a motorhome. Examples – Ford Transit, Fiat Ducato, Iveco, and Mercedes-Benz Splinter While in the USA and Canada the motorhome is built on different chassis as it depends on the manufacturer. Examples of chassis are – Dodge Ram Promaster gas, Ford transit, Chevrolet Express gas and Mercedes Benz Sprinter. There are some rules in some state of USA for a vehicle to be qualified as a Class B Motorhome, such as in California. In the state of California, a vehicle should have 4 out of 6 built-in items to qualify as a Class B Motorhome. A water system (sink or a shower) A cooking system A refrigerator A fuel or a 110v electrical system An AC (Air Conditioning) system A toilet    Class B Motorhomes These are large motorhomes, a Class c motorhome is usually built upon a minimal truck platform which is connected by a forward engine and the transmission is connected by driver-shaft to a rear axle that propels the dual mounted rear wheels. Most of the Class C motorhomes are powered by gasoline (petrol) and diesel but some have been converted to run on propane (autogas). These vehicles mostly have automatic transmission. During the building phase, the original chassis is taken from a truck factory and is taken to a coach builder which is attached to a forward cab section, that is a van or can be a conventional truck. This kind of chassis is known as cutaway chassis. Ford E350 or E450 chassis were used in North America during the 21 century but earlier it was Dodge/Ram and Chevrolet/GMC chassis which were used. While in Europe most of the Class C motorhomes chassis are manufactured by either Ford or Fiat. The outer structure of the Class C motorhomes is made from fiberglass, plastics, composites and also from lightweight metals. Earlier it was made from a wooden frame which was then covered by a thin sheet of metal. The characteristics of Class C motorhome can be a distinctive cab-over profile like it contains an upper sleeping area, entertainment section or storage space. In United kingdom cab over is also known as Luton body or Luton peak. Interior of a Class c motorhome is equipped with a kitchen cum dining area which has a refrigerator, a microwave oven and a table with a seating facility. There is a lavatory with bath shower, sleeping area, an AC, a water heater, a furnace, and an outside canopy. It can also have a generator and roof-mounted solar panels. A toy hauler is a subcategory of a Class c motorhome, which has a typical configuration and additional space for hauling dirt bikes, bicycle, and ATVs. You can also find a feature in these motorhomes which can pull lightweight trailers such as for boats. Class C motorhome is also called as mini motorhomes.   Truck Camper A truck camper has a living space which is usually mounted into the bed of a pickup truck. It is often secured against any tipping or wobbling when the truck is in motion. You should take care in matching the weight balance of the truck camper. The truck camper is useful for those who do not wish to own a motorhome or a trailer and use it for part-time. Truck campers are commonly used for Backwood travel Hunting Fishing Camping In North America, it is generally used to drive off-road via rough roads to reach campsites. It can have features like refrigerators, oven, AC, furnace, water heater, lavatory and shower whereas the small can have a sleeping area and an icebox. Some of the pick-up truck which is used in North America for hauling slideout equipped campers are: Chevrolet/GMC 2500 through 3500 Ram 2500 through 3500 Ford 250 through 350   Popup Camper Other names of popup camper are tent camper, folding camper, tent trailer, and camper trailer. Popup trailers are of very lightweight, you can pull out the bunks and the tent's wall. These bunks and the tent walls are collapsible which can be used for towing and storage. It becomes easing for most of the vehicles to toe them such as minivans, SUVs and small pickup trucks even for compact cars.   Travel Trailer Travel trailers are rigid sides design which is generally towed by a pickup truck, SUV or by a minivan. In the past in North America, very large cars were used to tow these travel trailers such as Chevrolet or GMC Suburbans, Ford Broncos, etc. In the UK travel trailers are known as caravans.   Teardrop Trailer These are compact and lightweight travel trailers and it looks like a teardrop hence the name. These teardrop trailers can be towed by motorcycles too.   Hybrid Trailer   These are a hybrid version of a travel trailer and a folding tent trailer. In some designs, you will get a rigid side and a pull-out tent section which is generally beds. In another design, the top section of the walls and also its roof can be lowered over its bottom section to reduce its height for towing.   Fifth-Wheel Trailer It has a fifth wheel coupling, a special inbox hitch, which is specially designed to be towed by medium-duty trucks and pickups. These types of trailers body can be extended over the truck bed which can shorten the total length of the vehicle and trailer too. Some of the fifth wheel trailers can extend over 40 feet (12.2m) in length and can be 18000 pounds (8200 Kilograms) in weight. These are very heavy trailers which can be pulled by small Freightliner or full-size class B truck such as Volvo. They were first used for a commercial purpose during the 1960s and since then have become popular.   Park Model (Vacation/Resort cottage) These trailers are large and generally, they are 35 to 45 feet in length. It is useful for park camping. These are not suitable for dry camping as they do not have any water storage tanks and also must be used with hookups. These types of trailers are designed to remain stationary for a long time, but they differ from mobile homes in that they are often moved during off seasons.
Legality & RVs
in the USA there are regulations that affect the conversion of a school bus into a recreational vehicle. Like in Illinois and California it is required by law that the signaling equipment of the bus like stop sign, flashing lights, etc should be removed. The yellow paint of a typical school bus to be changed too. In other states, it requires that the school bus signage should be removed from the front and rear. In other countries, you may be required to have a second driving license to purchase or legally own a vehicle. Like in the UK, you need an owner of a Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) category D1 or D license to drive the vehicle on UK roads.   Read the full article

Why digital transformation should be your new demand gen strategy
30-second summary:
Ensuring that your business has the right digital tools can facilitate growth by enabling marketing and sales teams to improve brand engagement, better analyze data, more easily create content, and improve CX.
Demand generation is facilitated by the right tools which can help marketing teams scale activities such as content management, lead nurturing, social media optimization, ABM, and more.
There is no such thing as an average martech stack. Customization of tools is key to figuring out what works for you to achieve business growth.
Chiefmartec’s Stackie awards include nearly 50 illustrations of martech stacks from a vareity of businesses which demonstrate how varied martech stacks can be.
Incorporating tools that enhance and facilitate customer experience is an important (even critical) ingredient to using digital transformation for demand gen.
Using technology to enhance business processes is nothing new. The very first business computer — The Lyons Electronic Office (LEO) was introduced in the UK in 1949 to help a (very busy) tea shop manage their inventory and staff. LEO computed the cost of ingredients and ran payroll for workers.
Now, more than seven decades after LEO helped calculate how much money went into making bread and cakes, digital transformation is a key business growth strategy.
Technology touches every aspect of a business, but it’s become particularly ubiquitous in marketing and sales, with tools that enable brand engagement, data analysis, content creation, and improve customer experience.
Embracing digital transformation also helps businesses mitigate the constraint on their resources. Today’s marketing and sales teams must do more with less, and companies — regardless of size — are turning to technology to get stuff done.
Blissfully, an SaaS tool that literally exists to help you manage all your SaaS tools, released their 2020 SaaS Trends Report this past March. The report revealed that company spend on SaaS products is up 50% year over year.
The traditional tech stack, once the purview of a company’s IT department, is now an SaaS stack, spread across multiple teams within an organization. From a demand generation perspective, that includes tools for content management, lead nurturing, social media optimization, ABM, and more.
So how digital transformation facilitate demand generation? It’s all about the toolkit.
Demand generation goes digital
HubSpot defines demand generation as an, “umbrella of marketing programs that get customers excited about your company’s product and services.” These programs aren’t (all) necessarily digital.
A billboard on the side of a highway is still a billboard, but the creative concept, the placement of that billboard, how it’s tracked and optimized, and how those results are reported to your manager can now be streamlined  with tools in your martech stack.
The right tools help marketing teams scale their demand generation activities so they can be more effective — and flexible — while consuming less resources. But for digital transformation to be a full-fledged demand gen strategy, your tools need to work together to achieve one key goal — growth.
Chris Shrieber, the CMO of Brandcast, the first code-free web content system for enterprise, had this to say about the importance of leveraging integrated tools for demand generation:
“Creating an integrated system for digital design and content creation is an essential and often overlooked aspect of scaling demand generation. Creative teams must be able to put the building blocks for digital content production in the hands of demand gen teams so they can rapidly test and iterate content variations without fear of going off-brand. Demand gen teams can optimize resources by having easily accessible content and designs from their entire customer journey – websites, landing pages, case studies, sales collateral – so they can efficiently repackage and create new targeted campaigns.”
The average martech stack
There is no “average” martech stack, not really. There are just too many platforms, apps, and tools available to pin down one formula that works for every business.
Case in point: Chiefmartec lists nearly 50 illustrations of martech stacks from businesses of all sizes and stripes, which they gathered for their “Stackie” awards.
To enter the Stackie awards, a business must send in a single slide that illustrates the martech tools tools they use to achieve growth.
Sample of Stackie submissions — Source: Chiefmartec
The power of the Stackie slides is in how they visually demonstrate (or attempt to demonstrate) a company’s demand gen strategy. Five lucky winners are then to win a Stackie.
The winning entry for 2019 was Airstream, a US-based manufacturer of travel trailers. Each of the winners had some version of Airstream’s stack, as follows:
Planning tools and acquisition tools — HubSpot, Slack, Moz, Zoom
Creative tools — Adobe, WordPress, MS Office, InVision
Customer/prospect engagement (and outreach) tools — YouTube, HubSpot, Facebook Ads, Zendesk
Dealers (e.g., CRM/CX) – AIRHUB, HubSpot, DealerSpike, DP360
Measurement and analytics tools — Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Domo, Hotjar
Airstream’s winning Stackie slide
Airstream used trees to represent each martech tool in their stack. The size of the tree was directly proportional to how much time they spent interacting with each tool (and, thus, the trees provided an easy visualization showing which tools are used the most).
Customization is the key to effectiveness
Having tools in your tech stack does not automatically mean you’re successfully using digital transformation for demand generation.
It’s not enough to have tools.
Your tools must work together. Your tools must be selected with intention. You must actually use your tools, revisit your tools, optimize your tools, and get rid of the tools that aren’t working for you.
While each tool serves a purpose and has a specific use, they should also work together to form a “single source of truth.” Only then can your technology drive business growth by ensuring prospects become customers, then happy customers and, finally, customers who help your company grow through referrals, upselling/cross-selling, and positive word-of-mouth.
Data is the ingredient that drives the success of all these moving parts.
Jason Widup, VP of Marketing at Metadata.io, an autonomous demand gen platform, advises marketers to customize their martech stacks using tools designed for specific tasks, rather than trying to find one all-encompassing platform.
Says Widup, “To truly break out of average, benchmark marketing performance in your industry, you have to break away from the most common, all-in-one tools out there that try to be everything to everybody. To have a competitive advantage in marketing you have to understand where in your funnel ‘uniqueness’ exists, and then you need to figure out the best point solutions, technologies, and processes that will best-serve those uniquenesses.”
Customer experience, for the win
One thing is crystal clear when it comes to digital transformation — apps that enhance customer experience are leading the way. That’s because happy customers fuel growth in the form of loyalty, word-of-mouth referrals, and positive perception of a brand.
Adobe found that companies that prioritized and managed CX were 3X more likely to exceed their top business goals in 2019 versus those that didn’t. Likewise, a study by Gartner found that CX drives over two-thirds of customer loyalty, but over 70% of CX leaders struggled to with designing projects that increased loyalty.
In their 2020 Digital Transformation Trends Report, Adobe reported that about half of the C-level executives interviewed are planning to increase their CX-related tech spending.
Optimizing the customer experience was listed as the single most exciting opportunity for their organization by C-suite and non-C-suite executives, outranking data-driven marketing, content creation, and video (among other things.)
Technology focused on improving the customer experience was ubiquitous in many of the martech stacks submitted to the 2019 Stackie awards, with tools like Adobe Target (content optimization), Pardot and Eloqua (marketing automation), and Acquia/Drupal (digital experience platform) present in many martech stacks.
Clearly, CX technology is a key ingredient when applying digital transformation for successful demand generation.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to creating the perfect martech stack or digital transformation strategy. A willingness to adopt new technologies throughout your organization, coupled with an equal willingness to discard what’s not working while embracing what does, can help you generate more leads, close more sales, and achieve growth.

A new category of holiday has emerged recently due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. As international travel is put on hold for many residents of their mother country are giving up on wanderlust and choosing ‘Safecations’ instead.
I suppose these are going to be Staycations with extra precautions built in so that comfort and hygiene are adhered to and controlled by each party.
Knowing where you are going to spend the night and cooking for yourselves and not having to worry about cross contamination from others have meant that RV rentals are surging with waiting lists common place. Owners of RV vehicles are learning quickly about renting theirs out via various channels such as RV Share who offer a comprehensive website according to your holiday plans. One of the more recognisable brands is Cruise America whose well liveried vehicles are a notable sight on many highways both across America and Canada.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
For visitors to America from the UK there are many tour operators that offer RV rentals as part of a package but I would investigate and compare pricing independently seeing if you can rent at source.
The U.S Travel Association estimates a 40% drop in domestic travel spending and are encouraging Americans to explore sights locally to their homes. National Parks across the States are busier than normal so plan ahead and head to the less popular parks where there is space to explore.
I have seen some tips on renting a RV for the first time which will be useful to know. Have a read through this blog 8 tips for newbies that appeared on the USA Today European edition.
youtube
For a unique ‘glamping’ experience why not look on Air BnB for Airstream trailers that are located on land of houses and ranches? Some have hot tubs available located adjacent to the trailers as well as other luxuries. Again travel in your own vehicle and be in charge of your own safety and relax when you get there.
If you decide to ‘Safecation’ locally it must be fun discovering unexplored and undiscovered attractions that you have always known about but never had the impetus to visit. Set a distance limit and then within that radius see what is out there. Do your research about what facilities are going to be open along the route and at the destination. Decide if you are going to picnic so that you can keep your distance from others or book a table as per local restrictions. The new normal is to take hand sanitiser, wipes and masks with you so that your safety is in your control. I know across each state there are variations about social distancing and the wearing of masks in shops so again do your research.
Coronavirus – ‘Safecation’ A new category of holiday has emerged recently due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. As international travel is put on hold for many residents of their mother country are giving up on wanderlust and choosing 'Safecations' instead.

7 Fantastic Small Camper Trailers with Bathrooms Included
When you’re in the thick of the wilds, sometimes you’ll need to tend to the needs of nature. Doing your business outdoors is not ideal, however, when the nearest restaurant or building is miles away, it’s your only option. Or is there another way?
I know when I bought my first camper, space was a major consideration. I wanted to have as much space as I possibly could for the essentials that I couldn’t live without. Sadly, that meant saying goodbye to the bathroom and hello to nature’s toilet. If it’s good enough for every other mammal on earth, then it’s probably good enough for me.
However, as I’ve discovered in the years since then, it’s possible to have your cake and eat it, or in this case, have your space and a toilet. I’ve put together these seven amazing examples of compact camper trailers that make room for luxurious bathrooms.
Jay Sport Trailer
If you have the Sport Trailer, you need not pay for a room in a dubiously appointed hotel ever again. Revamped for 2017, this trailer packs an amenities filled punch, with all the essentials included without any wasted space.
Looking at the trailer for the outside, it’s compact, simple and sleek design contains a ton of clever features that have been included to ensure life in the wilds is that much easier. For example:
Retractable entry steps
Stabilising jacks for added safety
Large grippy off-road tires
Moving onto the inside you’ll be surprised at what’s been packed inside the compact package. The interior features:
Lot’s of clever storage spaces
A rust-resistant stove suitable for indoor and outdoor use
A generously proportioned sink
Hard wearing vinyl flooring
That’s just the start of it. If it’s beautiful sunny day, just open up the roof vent with built-in mesh screening and let sunlight and nature soak in. You’ll also have access to the following:
Luxurious heated beds for those cold nights
Multifunctional cushions
A functional dining area
Audiovisual capabilities
Of course, we’re here for one reason, and that is for the bathroom. In this respect the Jay Sport does not disappoint, boasting a heater that is larger than you’d expect for a trailer of this size, coming in at a sizeable six gallons. This water tank powers the indoors and outdoors shower, as well as the toilet and sinks taps.
Casita Travel Trailers Spirit Deluxe Trailer
When you’re looking to take your small family with you on your outdoor adventures, then the Casita Trailer might just be the perfect pick. This trailer easily fits in three adults in its 17-foot length. The dining area can be quickly and easily transformed into 2 sleeping spaces and is easy enough to switch it back as required, so making this space you need shouldn’t be a problem.
This trailer has been designed from the ground up to withstand a range of climates and terrain conditions. It’s made from a reinforced fiberglass and is custom fitted for each and every Spirit Deluxe. Additional external features you’ll not want to avoid missing:
Exterior fitted 110-volt outlet
A battery pack rated for 12 volts
A lockable freshwater fill
The option of connecting to city water
Exterior lighting
The interior of the camper is equally impressive, with a decently sized bathroom to boot. The toilet and the shower have been separated in order to provide increased privacy, and a powerful extractor fan is in place to deal with humidity and to ensure the space is well ventilated and smell free.
If you’re looking for additional space to store your space, you’re in luck. There are several carpet lined overhead storage spaces which are perfect for stashing additional camping equipment or other bits of gear.
Barefoot Caravans
Even though this is a UK based firm, Barefoot Caravans can send it to the USA. The trailer was designed by a quartet of caravan design experts, what’s even more impressive is that they received a well-deserved trust award for their efforts.
Perhaps the most appealing aspects of this trailer are its range of customization options available to the buyer. You can choose one of six colors for a range of the trailers features, such as:
The mini DAB Radio
The curtains (you can choose to have these made to your own specs or choose one of the available options based on your fabric choices)
The color of the kitchen or bathroom walls
The seat cushions, which can be either vinyl or fabric
You can pick from the following colors:
Lime green
Gray
Navy Blue
Orange
Stone
Duck Egg
You can either choose to make sure everything compliments each other or choose to mix things up to a more ecliptic design.
So, even though Barefoot caravans feature funky designs and sleek shapes, what else about them makes them a sensible purchase? There are a tone of features which make this a standout choice, including:
Adaptable seating area that can be converted into a sleeping area
Plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space for all your belongings
Attractive roof lighting
Polycarbonate windows made from recycled materials
Built in fridge freezer with enough space for a small family
We should of course also talk about the bathroom. Powering the shower, toilet and sinks is a 30 liter water tank with a combi water heater from renowned manufacturer Truma. Powering this can be accomplished with either gas or electricity.
The bathroom itself comes with a range of attractive features such as full portrait mirror, ample cupboard space, a shower, sink, and toilet. When you’re on the road with this trailer, you’ll probably never want to return to your home.
Lance 1575 Travel Trailer
Lance has been producing a range of truck campers and trailers for just over half a century. Exemplifying those years of experience and dedication of their craft is the Lance 1575, which despite is reasonable weight (2,700 lbs) has still managed to cram in a ton of useful features.
Just because you’re on an adventure, it doesn’t mean you have to be without the small luxuries. Lance has made sure you’ll have all the essentials to hand:
Optional spare tire
Vented roof space
Cleverly designed doors
Ample storage space
Insulated and laminated windows
Separated freshwater and wastewater systems
When you’re on an extended road trip, it’s normally the small things which make you feel like you’re in a home away from home, to that point, Lance has done a great job of making sure that all of those small things are present.
A key hook
Integrated clock
Cleverly designed work surfaces and tables
Curtains and shades for every window
Integrated stove with three gas burners
Built in fridge that’s capable of holding enough food for a small family
Thermostat controls for the easy adjustment of the internal temperature
And of course, there is a bathroom present as well. Lance have included a foot operated toilet that’s both easy to use and easy to clean. The toilet is plumbed into the black tank system and does its job very well. If you like plenty of light in your bathroom, you’re in luck, with the skylight providing bucket loads of naturally occurring light. It might be small, but the bathroom has everything you’re looking for.
United Recreational Vehicles, LLC’s iCamp Elite
The Elite range is known to be sporty, eye-catching, colorful and for their compact dimensions. Even though they are small in size, they are substantial campers made from an aluminum frame, reinforced fiberglass and industrial strength Styrofoam for insulation and sound dampening. This means the campers are more than just cute looking.
The Elite is one of the smallest campers we’ve come across and is even smaller than most of the diminutive options on this roster. As the external and internal dimensions are petite, you can expect to make some concessions if you’re planning a road trip with one these beauties.
The manufacturer has had to employee some clever design designs in order to save on space and maximize what is available. As such, furniture tends to have rounded edges that just fit with little room to spare. If you’re above 6 foot, the camper might not be for you, as the highest section maxes out just shy of six feet.
However, despite its size, the Elite manages to pack some great features into its footprint:
Increased fuel economy due to better aerodynamics
iPod connectivity for increased entertainment. If you love podcasts like me, this might be right up your street.
Weather resistant outdoor and indoor furniture
Fully wallpapered
Towing it is a piece of cake
At this point you might be wondering if they managed to squeeze a bathroom in, the good news is they did. Furnished with a shower and a rather nice toilet, the bathroom has everything you’re likely to need.
Scamp 13’ Standard Trailer
Scamp has proven that great things can be wrapped in small packages. The smallest offering from Scamp measures in at a diminutive 13 feet, which is far smaller than the largest offering from the same company. Despite the size, you can still choose one of the two-floor plans and the one we’re most interested in features a bathroom as the front and center, with a fully functional shower. Included in this layout is the following:
A sleeping area that converts to an eating and sitting area
Seats with clever storage compartments
An integrated gas-powered stove and sink
Ample closet space
Made to accommodate a small family, the Scamp utilizes intelligent design and thoughtful planning in order to best utilize all the available space. Powering the bathroom and shower is the 12-gallon holding tank.
If you’re willing to pay a little bit extra, you can buy and have the following fitted:
Reinforced cabinets
Carpeting or tough vinyl flooring
Additional power outlets
Power Converters
Built-in air con
Heat Strips
Exterior lighting
Integrated microwave
Airstream’s 2018 Sport
For nearly a century, Airstream has been producing vehicles with the traveler in mind. The latest 2018 sport exemplifies this design philosophy. The brand is so well known that nearly everyone without an interest in RVs will have heard of their vehicles.
The Sport boasts several fantastic features:
Air con and heating strips
Powerful integrated fan for maximum air circulation
Branded and matching dinette sets
Essential items such as microwave, fridge, gas-powered stove and oven
Sink covers that double as cutting boards
Full blackout window covers
Extreme visibility front windows
Built-in HD TV with sound system
Not to be outdone, the bathroom provides sophistication and class, everything is well appointed. Ventilation is provided by powerful roof fans, preventing moisture and air entering into the rest of the trailer. The toilet is made from porcelain and is easy to operate and clean. Adding the finishing touches are the retractable clothesline, the towel bar, and the custom-made shower head.
Not one to disappoint, the outside is equally well appointed. Mounted outside the trailer is the black water tank wastewater system which makes it easy to dispose of the bathroom waste. Additionally, you’ll find the following features:
Reinforced windows with dark tinting
Reflective and insulated room for increased temperature control
Extensive awning
Easily used inlet for fresh water
Hot and cold exterior shower
Hookup for cable TV
Conclusion
If like me you like to spend some time in the outdoors for weeks at a time, a few small luxuries can go a long way. You might be forgiven for thinking that in order to enjoy the room for multiple recipients, cooking areas, appliances and a bathroom, you’d need to invest in a large trailer.
As we’ve already demonstrated in this article, that’s not necessarily true. You can quite comfortably live, sleep, cook and shower in a camper that quite comfortably fits into a standard garage. The only prerequisite is knowing what to look for and where to find them
