How to Maximize Savings on Your 3-Day Rental
To ensure you get the best deal on your 3-day car rental in Belize, consider the following tips:
Book in Advance: Prices for car rentals can fluctuate based on demand. Booking your vehicle in advance can help secure a lower rate and ensure availability, especially during peak travel seasons.
Look for Discounts and Promotions: Car-One Rental Belize often offers special discounts and promotions. Check their website or inquire when booking to see if any deals are available that could reduce your rental cost.
Choose the Right Vehicle: Select a vehicle that meets your needs without exceeding them. For example, if you’re only driving in the city, an economy car might be more cost-effective than an SUV.
Avoid Unnecessary Extras: While additional services like GPS navigation or insurance upgrades can be useful, they also add to the cost. Evaluate whether you truly need these extras before adding them to your rental package.
Refuel Before Returning: Car-One Rental Belize, like most rental companies, requires you to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas. Refueling the car yourself is usually cheaper than paying the rental company’s refueling fee.

Belize! Oh what a travel day it was.
Belize! Oh what a travel day it was.
Day One:
We present ourselves at the airport at 5:40 for our 6:25 flight, only to learn that Southwest will not accept our luggage for travel because we’re checking in less than an hour before departure. Cue rush to the car rental facility, where we rented a car and drove to Houston.
Tumblr media
We arrived in Houston with 30 minutes to spare and met up with Logan’s parents.
After that early morning…

Gas Golf Carts: For Sale
There is growing environmental trend of using electric power golf carts. Still, there is interest in off-road use of golf carts. Owners use them for related long-distance travels away from home or for doing hunting. Because of these factors, there is still interest in gas powered carts. And it is not that difficult for finding Gas carts that are for sale in your local area. You may be interested in buying specific makes of golf carts such as E-Z-GO, club car or Yamaha or any other unbranded golf carts. For finding the golf carts that are available on a cheaper rate, it is better to look online for local classifieds. After finding two of three right deals, you can inspect each of those carts at a convenient time by making arrangement with the seller.
Tumblr media
The procedure is almost same as buying a second hand car. And it has the same risk that is involved with second hand car purchase. So it is buyers beware market. A seller can spent some money on things like some new seat covers, paint and fancy wheel trims and make it attractive. But you should be interested in the mechanical functioning of the cart that should be sound and safe. You have to inspect frame, engine, steering, tires and brakes, et cetera. So you should be aware of the different things that are to be inspected or take a friend with you, who knows these things. The dealer may be able to give you some warranty for the worker.
There is another option of buying a used cart from a local dealer. Here you may have to spend a little more money. But the reputation of the dealer makes sure that the vehicle is thoroughly checked and is mechanically safe and sound.
Price is the final point that is to be taken into consideration. A second-hand car normally goes between US$ 2500-US$ 5000. It is the cost of a worker that is reasonably in a good condition and there is an added cost on servicing including the spare parts. You can personalize the circle by adding some accessories.

Leap of Faith (ao3 link)
True to her word, Leia arrived the following evening. Han, Rey, and Ben picked her up from the airport in Belize and drove her back to the hotel near the Tikal national forest.
Ben sat in the front of the rental car with his father while Leia sat beside of Rey, holding her hand and telling her how happy she was that they were making her a grandmother.
Ben smiled to himself, as his father drove in silence. Watching the setting sun paint the the sky in hues of pink and purple. It was a small reprieve from the conflict that was sure to come. It was only a matter of time before Snoke made himself known. And Ben was insistent that they be prepared.
Thank you to my wonderful beta @noriselly

Seattle
Hello again! The long pause has been because I wrapped up the trip (well, this leg) and came home for August in Seattle. I head back out in September for another ~2 months. Here’s everywhere I spent a night in my first 4 months of travel (post-Belize):
Tumblr media
Growing up, whenever we finished a family trip, my mother would force lovingly encourage us to go around the table and name our favorite parts of the trip. So, in that spirit, I present my wrap up:
Best overall experience: Mokrin House, Serbia.
Favorite hotel: Square Nine, Belgrade, Serbia. Runner up: Rooms Hotel, Tbilisi, Georgia.
Favorite hostel: none, they were all terrible, cell phones have killed hostels, hostels are dead.
Favorite Airbnb, before I became ethically opposed to the tourism disaster that an unregulated Airbnb is unleashing on European cities and stopped using the site entirely: my cave in the gypsy neighborhood of Granada
Best meal: this is a three way tie between MÁK in Budapest, Machneyuda in Jerusalem, and Project 72 in Novi Sad, Serbia. Note: the only Michelin star restaurant I ate at on this trip/in my life does not make the list (Mina in Bilbao, Spain)
Meals shared unexpectedly with strangers: far too many to count.
Best gelato/ice cream: the competition is fierce here as I felt it was my duty to sample the ice cream every single place I went. The best gelato everywhere I went was made by Italians, and the win goes to Nannarella in Lisbon
Favorite bar: Bellboy, Tel Aviv.
Strangest time I was asked to pose as a foot model for animal wisdom based spiritual healing ceremonies: ok it was just that one time at a mountain yurt retreat in Colmenar, Spain
Most meaningful experience: 3 day silent meditation retreat on my family’s kibbutz in northern Israel
Favorite gym: A Philippe Starck masterpiece in Bilbao, Spain
Favorite museum: Design Museum Holon, Tel Aviv, Israel (thanks Lindsey!) both the museum building itself and the featured exhibit on Maarten Baas
Most beautiful gardens/parks: three way tie between Sintra in Portugal, Seville and Cordoba, Spain
Dreamiest landscapes: Tuscany and Lake Como. Shocker, I know
Favorite outdoor adventure: caving and mountain biking in Romania
Easiest place to meet people: Israel
Hardest place to meet people: Seville, Spain
Flights taken: 11
Flights purchased but not taken: 2
Number of times things were confiscated from me at airport security: 5 (all nail files/clippers/scissors)
Number of times I responded to these unnecessary confiscations calmly and in stride: 0
Car rentals: 3
Rental cars returned with no body damage: 2
Finally, here’s my recommendation on:
Go: Tel Aviv. Seville, Granada, and Cordoba, Spain. Novi Sad and Belgrade, Serbia. Western Romanian countryside. Kutaisi and Tbilisi, Georgia.
Eh: Jerusalem. London. San Sebastian and Bilbao, Spain. Budapest.
Skip: Lisbon. Valencia and Santander, Spain. Sarajevo, Bosnia. St Moritz, Switzerland.

Many people assume it’s a good idea to rent a car in Belize, but in many cases, it’s not that great of an idea. It depends on several factors such as where you intend to go and what you want to do.
I rarely recommend renting a car in Belize and this is for a myriad of reasons. First of all, Belize is a small country, so it will be easy and relatively inexpensive to get to almost all locations in Belize without having to rent a car. Then, once you are there, you will likely be taking organized tours to the ruins, wildlife preserves, etc. and those tours will include transportation. Therefore, the only time you will likely use the car you rented during the week will be to go out to dinner.
So for example, let’s say you plan to fly into Belize City on a Friday, and plan to transfer to the Cayo area for a 5 night stay, and then return to Belize City to fly home on Wednesday. If you rent with Hertz and pick up and drop off at the International Airport, their smallest, least expensive vehicle will be $495 US, including taxes and fees but not including gas, which is currently about $6.00 US per gallon.
If you took a tour for the four days you are there, and spent one half-day walking around town (which you would drive to) and also drove each night to a different restaurant in town, we can safely assume you would use about 25 gallons of gas, costing an additional $150, for a total of $650.
By comparison, if you took cabs everywhere (the most expensive way to go, next to the car rental option) it would cost about $125 each way between Belize City and San Ignacio, and approximately an additional $30 each time you went from your hotel to town and back. For the same hypothetical itinerary listed above, the total would be about $430. If you instead took shuttles or buses at least some of the time, the total would be much less.
There are at least 12 rental car agencies in the country. Most of them only offer pick up and drop off at one place. Basically almost any car rental agency you can think of has a representative. On my last trip to Belize I made a definitive list of the booths at the international airport: Hertz, Avis, Dollar, Alamo, Thrifty, National, Enterprise, A-Class, Tour Belize, Jabiru, Budget, and Crystal.
If you plan to pick up and drop off at the airport, you should use one of these. However, I recommend a local agency because they are walking distance from the Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel, where we stay the first and last night of our trip. This Belize car rental agency is called Car One Rental.
Because all of our guests are advised to arrive one day early to avoid missing a flight and therefore missing the shuttle boat to our island, many of our guests wish to rent a car for just a day or possibly two. The location of Car One Rental makes it an ideal way to extend your stay in Belize when you are traveling with us, because if you used the international airport agencies, you would have to return the car to the airport before meeting us.
So, if doing one of our island trips, you would take a cab from the airport to the Biltmore, drop off your stuff either in your reserved room and use the vehicle just for the day, or drop most of your stuff in the Biltmore’s locked closet where it will be safe while you are gone for the night. Then walk one block to the car rental place with your reduced luggage, and drive to an alternate hotel out of town for the night, returning your vehicle the next day in time to check into your room and be on time for our 5:30 pm orientation meeting. One great half day tour you can do on your own is Altun Ha Mayan ruin. Visit our Belize Mayan ruins map to see where it is located. Another option is a one day Belize driving tour that I detail in another blog post, which includes the Community Baboon Sanctuary, the Belize Zoo, and lunch at my favorite restaurant.

Honeymoons that are worth the money
If you want to splurge for your dream honeymoon getaway, here are six once-in-a-lifetime, luxury trips across the globe.
1. An African safari and beach combo
“The bush-and-beach combo, an African safari then staying at a fabulous beach resort, is one of the most popular honeymoons I plan,” says Katie Frederick Jacobson, a SmartFlyer honeymoon specialist who has organized more than 1,000 honeymoons in the past decade.
She recommends honeymooners first go to a popular safari destination like Kenya and stay at a top luxury safari lodge, like Singita properties. The average stay there is $4,000 per night, and extras like hot-air balloon rides over scenic landscapes average about $1,000 per couple.
Then Jacobson suggests honeymooners hit the islands off the coast, which are secluded and romantic. Stay at a place like North Island Resort in the Seychelles, where guests can arrive via helicopter. “Stay in Villa 11, the same villa where Prince William and Kate Middleton stayed for their honeymoon,” says Jacobson. Rates are around $7,000 a night.
Newlyweds spend an average two weeks for a bush-and-beach honeymoon, according to Jacobson, and these trips typically start around $30,000 and can go as high as $100,000 for the whole trip.
2. Around the world
Due to demand, Jacobson plans extended “around the world” honeymoons where newlyweds start in a relaxing beach destination then hop around to various countries. These are longer honeymoons that range from two weeks to two months.
“Think: starting in an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora, heading to Tokyo for the best sushi restaurants, going to the markets in Bangkok, then a tiger camp in India, exploring Paris, heli-skiing in Iceland then going home,” Jacobson says. Or some combination thereof.
Jacobson says she organizes three to five customizable honeymoons a year that are two months or longer and often planned around a special experience, like Cherry Blossom season in Japan or a big sporting event like the Australian Open.
Couples on these kinds of trips also often spend time on a luxury train like Belmond Trains or boutique cruise line like Aqua Expeditions to mix things up, says Jacobson. Some will even have friends meet up with them for a portion of their honeymoon.
“Around the world” honeymoons stop at anywhere from three to 30 destinations, depending on the trip, and prices vary from $5,000 to $276,000.
3. Peru and Brazil
Pago a la Tierra ceremony in Sacred Valley, Peru
Black Tomato
South America’s exotic attractions, from jungles and beaches to ancient ruins, make it popular with honeymooners, especially Peru and Brazil, which are among the most visited countries on the continent.
Black Tomato, a luxury travel company that plans high-end adventures, offers a 10- to 12-night trip through Peru, which goes to Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, and Brazil, including Iguazu Falls and Rio de Janeiro. Co-founder and CEO Tom Marchant tells CNBC Make It, “In Rio, we arrange the ultimate champagne breakfast at the feet of Christ the Redeemer, watching the sunrise hours before the throng of tourists descend, meaning we have access before the monument opens to the public.”
Other exclusives on this trip include fast-track access for lines at Machu Picchu, a private Pago a la Tierra ceremony (traditional Peruvian blessing to the land) with a local shaman in Cusco, and cooking lunch with Michelin-starred chef Virgillio Martinez Veliz, including delicacies like sea snails cooked using medicinal herbs. This trip costs about $10,000 per person, excluding flights, but a shorter version trip between six to seven nights would cost $8,000 a person. Honeymooners can add on extras to any itinerary, including paddle-boarding down the Amazon River.
Black Tomato says it arranges approximately 150 over-the-top honeymoons a year.
4. Italy road trip
Italy ranks as one of the top honeymoon destinations in the world, and honeymooners are known to visit several cities and regions, like Rome, Amalfi Coast and Venice.
Jenna Mahoney, travel editor for Bridal Guide magazine, says one of the most memorable, once-in-a-lifetime trips is with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, which offers a famous vintage car for honeymooners to drive across the country for a road trip, staying at three properties along the way: Four Seasons Hotel Milan, Four Seasons Hotel Firenze and Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat.
Couples can choose either a 1960 Giulietta Spider, a 1958 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Cabrio or a 1956 Porsche 356A Speedster.
“The couple is followed by a personal driver, so they have a photographer handy to take photos of them along the way,” Mahoney says. There is also driver in a second car to provide road assistance and mechanical support, valet parking at every stop and refueling service.
The trip, which takes newlyweds through the Tuscan countryside, Florence, Milan and the French Riviera, is fully customizable. Couples can stop at museums, restaurants, cafes and scenic views at their leisure, and Four Seasons’ concierge provides recommendations and suggestions in an itinerary.
Price depends on what a couple elects to include in their itineraries. Doubles at Four Seasons Hotel Milano start at $703 per night; Four Seasons Hotel Firenze at $850 per night; and Le Grand-Hotel d Cap-Ferrat, a Four Seasons hotel, at $1,747 per night. A $4,100 rental deposit for every car is required.
5. Private island in the Caribbean
The Caribbean has many expensive private island resorts, like Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, where a stay is $77,500 a night, but you can find more affordable options.
“There’s an island off the coast of Belize called Gladden,” says Mahoney. “What makes it so special from the other private island resorts in the region is that there are only single parties on the island at a time.” This means you have the entire island to yourself.
“You can eat wherever you choose on the island, all the activities are just for you and the staff will happily take you to the mainland to experience the ruins or to neighboring islands to hang out.”
The rate is $2,950 for two people per night, and it includes all meals by gourmet chef, all beverages, all activities (like snorkeling and SCUBA), spa treatments (a rarity for an all-inclusive resort) and round-trip helicopter transfers from Placencia Airport in Placencia, Belize, about 35 minutes away.
6. Island hopping Maui and Lanai in Hawaii
Jacobson recommends a Maui and Lanai combo, with a stay at Hotel Wailea in Maui, the only adults-only property on the island. “It’s very quiet, relaxing and romantic.”
After a few nights, she suggests taking the hour-long ferry over to Lanai (which costs $30 one way) and staying at Four Seasons Lanai.
“The island has just the resort and a small town; the rest of the island is untouched.”
There are activities like horseback riding, ATVs and boat trips, as well as beaches.
A one-week trip can cost between $4,000 to $8,000.

Good Golf Cart Battery
Majority of golf carts are battery powered. These carts use the power that is stored in the battery for its running. They are rechargeable and are one of the most important parts of the vehicle. It is essential to maintain the battery. If the battery is weak then you have to replace it. The cart uses the electrical energy from the battery to get started, to run and to perform other functions. It is essential to maintain it properly before it getting run down.
Tumblr media
A new good golf cart battery is very important in the case of those custom golf carts, brand-new one or a second-hand cart from someone else. The vehicles use batteries same as those used in cars. The working of a golf cart battery is same as that of a car battery. The cart will be open up to the battery and the car runs own that battery.
Same as that of a car, if the cart kept in idle for a long time, then the battery will run down and stop and then you have to recharge it or the battery will drain power. After sometimes you have to buy a new cart battery. The battery is used for running other customizations such as a radio or CD player together with the motor of the cart. Some carts provide places for plugging in the handheld devices or cell phones that will run off of the golf cart battery.
While not using the cart, you can plug your carts in to the power plug and thus the cart battery will recharge itself. This is helpful that you can make sure that the battery is charged before you use it extensively. You can always recharge the battery to make it ready to go again instead of run it down.
It is really handy to have a good golf cart battery. And if you are not using it for some time, you have to remove it and store in a good place. This makes the battery ready to go when you want. You should also have an extra battery in hand, if you need to change it.
