Blackarachnia coaxing eggs from Airachnid, gently petting her and walking her through it with a smirk on her face as Airachnid’s ovipositor opens up for the first time. All of her limbs holding Airachnid in place when she instinctively tries to pull out. All of it being too much for her as she overloads with each egg. Shes been backed up for far too long, but now that she knows how to deposit her eggs she can find whoever she wants to incubate more insecticons for her. I’d imagine Starscream would be a perfect candidate. They probably wouldn’t even let his useless aft fertilize them, making him into a perfect little carrier for Airachnid’s army.

How will Tfp bots and cons react to a cybertronian reader who disappeared before the war and was a kind, shy scientist who was studying organic organisms and has downloading abilities and went to an organic planet to collect samples and try an experiment but was ambushed by giant spiders and tried to use his/her downloading power on them but it mutated and transformed him/her into a bitter, sassy techno-organic spider and crash landed on Earth to find a new place to live after finding out what happened to Cybertron and when s/he saw his/her old friends Orion Pax and Megatronus s/he said to them grinning "Looks like I'm not the only one who changed. How are you Pax?/How are you Megs?"?

optimus and ultra magnus: they would feel guilty. no doubt they’ve tortured themselves the past years, stressing about whatever happened to them. they would be distressed and try to help anyway they could. ultra magnus would try and use diplomacy to come to a solution of some kind, and optimus would try and understand what she’s feeling and how he can help to make it better

ratchet: he would be shocked to say the least, but he would make it his mission to bury himself in work to figure out to help them. if his help is rejected, he would feel like it’s fault somehow

arcee: she would take it pretty hard. like tailgate and cliffjumper, she would blame herself for what happened, and make it her only goal to make it right

bulkhead, bumblebee and smokescreen: shocked and terrified. no doubt they were close with the bot before they disappeared, and seeing them so different is a very big surprise to them. once they’re over the shock they try to be their friend again, and i think they would all make a wonderful friend group someday

wheeljack: would probably feel responsible in some way, but he would be conflicted about what to do. he doesn’t handle confrontation well, so he would try and move past it without a real discussion of some kind, and use their newfound ability for the best

megatron: would be enraged this happened, and probably blame optimus outwardly, but on the inside he blames himself. no doubt he wanted better for the bot, and now he’s failed

soundwave: the bot actually manages to get a ride out of soundwave. he spent eons trying to find them, and now that he sees them like this, he feels like he should have done better, some something to help. but he didn’t, and how they’re stuck like this

shockwave: resisting the urge to conduct a 1000 experiments. but in all seriousness, he thinks that this is an incredible and nearly impossible feat, and he would be very interested to learn more about both their transformation and them as a person

airachnid: would think they’re incredibly badass and feels like she finally has a companion of some kind

starscream: would try to recruit them into his new army megatron isn’t going to conquer himself l!!

breakdown and dreadwing: would think it’s incredibly cool. breakdown would probably be a little jealous, and dreadwing would try to ensure they fight for the decepticons in someway (but maybe this bot would be the push he needed to step away from the cause)

knock out: absolutely loves their finish. thinks they’re amazing and awesome in everyway

predaking: since they’re technoorangic, he would try and convince them to fight with him. how well that would go is debatable, because the bot probably wants to rule him too

Remember when I said that I was gonna work on Airachnid before? Well this is it. I’ve heard many things about her, or as much as I can for being a Breakdown fan, and many are kinda not positive? Aside from the crying shippers and general haters Airachnid has, I’ve also heard that people who like her are sorta disappointed with how she’s more a plot point than an actual character (probably even more so when her character DOESN’T end with Arcee getting her revenge and just dumping her on a moon). 

So I’m here to fix that.

Because I’m only REALLY focusing on the Prime verse (primarily because I am baby who’s only watched tfp) instead of the aligned continuity as a whole, the general backstory isn’t based off of one particular story and then shattered. Airachnid is, however, an Arachnicon rather than an Insecticon, and instead of messing with the processors and brains of others, she learnt... from experience let’s say... to read, deceive and work with others.

From here on out, this becomes a general, more fanfictiony set of Shattered Glass headcanons more so inspired by the original Prime universe.

During the war, which she only joined for safety reasons, Airachnid played more of a stealth type of role rather than the torture interrogation role she does in canon, though she does have her fair share of info gathering. Once again, her rivalry with Arcee began when she killed Tailgate (don’t think for a second he’d be alive, sorry Tailgate stans) but instead of being for the purpose of info gathering, it was a rather ‘happy’ accident. Think of it more as a well placed web trap and Arcee’s front seat view of the scene, but in the heat of the battle and a stealth mission going wry, a swift death was delivered.

Now, in the previous post about where I talked about death and how I briefly mentioned the relative sizes of the Autobot and Decepticon armies. In order to sorta keep the ‘canon-fodder’ type cast whilst still casting the Decepticons as outnumbered, here in the war for Cybertron, Airachnid had her own motley crew of the buggy ‘cons to call her own.

Greif-stricken Shattered Glass Arcee, with backup on the way, decides the best type of revenge is to put Airachnid in her own pedes and see her mourn her meat(metal)-shield teammates. The chaos of the fight means Airachnid can barely get the chance to run off, drill or otherwise escape without assured death, and thus with the destruction of her crew and the taunting (and lets not forget slight torture because that’s fun) that follows afterwards, our resident Arachnicon barely manages to flee with her life and newfound trauma.

Moving on from the war and to contrast from canon’s hunting lifestyle, Arachnid fled from the Decepticons after the fall of Cybertron and elected to spend her days on foreign planets, pursuing the wonders of organic life. She doesn’t make anything all too big out of it, just enjoying the cute little animals and interesting sapient being whenever she comes across them and essentially being a dedicated pet owner whenever she picks up a real spectacle of a creature.

Sadly, none live all too long, not in Cybertronian perception at least, so instead of owning an adorable petting zoo of alien species, Airachnid’s accidentally invested in a pet cemetery and kinda gets melancholy about it for a while.

What I’m essentially saying is that she’s totally gonna be enraptured with cats and dogs and any other pet we humans get.

...I just got whiplash from the two entirely different moods that I got off of this post. 

After getting involved with the war again, Airachnid again seeks refuge with the Decepticons, hitching a ride with Breakdown after ‘Metal Attraction’ which should play out the same... in a sense, after her ship (with all her memorabilia) explodes and traps her on earth. She becomes involved with the near death of Breakdown in the ‘Crossfire’ equivalent when Arcee appears, taking the opportunity to isolate Airachnid further, almost in a ‘“everybody who tries to love you/everyone you love will die” and kinda misreading the energy?’ type of way. In her guilt at the ‘death’ of another ally, she flees.

When she finds the Insecticon nest, instead of setting up a guard for herself, Airachnid sends them off to the Nemesis to help the Decepticons, having submitted to Arcee’s torment that she’s the one that leads her friends to doom. Oh hey, slight thematic flip of the script! That was unintentional, but I think it’s neat!

Either she was later captured and tortured or just became a scavenger looking for energon, you can read my Shattered Glass reimagining of ‘Thirst’ for her return.

Oh god that’s a lot of writing...

Anyways, I hope this was a good Airachnid post, for both the fans and the haters. Feel free to tell me how I bastardised her character or how you’ll never forgive her for breaking Breakdown or whatever, roast me I guess.

Hey again!!! it is genuinely fun to hear you talk about Airachnid (I love her as well, but there are so few others who do as well???). Last few questions: what are your most favorite and least favorite aspects of her design??? What made you want to rp her??? Why did she side with the cons, and how did she learn of em??? As Decepticon leader who does she respect more (assuming she has any for them in general???), Starscream or Megatron???

YEAH  GFDJKGLFJ  dont  worry  i’ve  noticed  how  many  people  that  are  out  there  that  …..  despise  her  for  the  same  reasons  they  love  other  tfp  characters  and  it’s  ugly  so  i  won’t  get  into  it  BUT  IM  always  so  glad  to  meet  other  ppl  who  love  her  as  much  as  i  do !! 

001 .   DESIGN .

okay  i  ……  really  love  a  lot  about  airachnid’s  design .  her  frame  shape  in  itself  could  have  been  a  little  different  from  arcee’s  but  i’m  not  complaining  because  models  are  expensive  and  i’m  almost  completely  sure  that  tfp’s  budget  went  entirely  into  the  bots  and  making  them  look  good .  i  LOVE  her  colour  scheme ,  even  though  i’m  pretty  sure  it  was  nicked  from  blackarachnia ,  i  still think  it’s  gorgeous  and  really  fitting  regarding  her  personality .  if  black ,  royal  purples  and  gold  details  don’t  say  " evil  queen “ ,  idk  WHAT  does .  i  also  really  love  all  her  sharp  edges  -  most  of  which  she  even  carries  into  idw  which  is  mmmmm delicious .  above  all  i  REALLY  love  how  her  eyes  are  such  a  bright  contrast  against  the  rest  of  her   -   it’s  a  real  focal  point  and  it’s  lovely .

002 .   INTEREST .

i  ….  funnily  enough  always  loved  airachnid .  about  a  year  ago ,  i  rekindled  with  my  interest  in  transformers ,  restarting  with  tfa  and  tfp ,  and  i  completely  fell  in  love  with  her  all  over  again .  granted  i  hadn’t  watched  transformers  prime  since  i  was  about  14 ,  i’d  always  had  a  real  softspot  for  female  villains  cause  that’s  just  the  kind  of  dumbass  lesbian  i  am  ….  but  outside  of  that ,  i  really  think  she’s  a  pretty  diverse  character  when  it  comes  with  interaction ?  as  well  as  one  that’s  got  a  fair  amount  of  power  in  her  own  mind ,  and  those  are  always  the  kind  of  mentalities  that  i’m  interested  in  dissecting .

003 .   DECEPTICONS  +  DISCOVERY .

eukaris  wasn’t  involved  in  the  war ,   they  were  content  living  away  from  it  all  and  colonising  eukaris  under  the  protection  chela ,  but  airachnid  was  exiled  from  her  colony  &  her  planet .  her  colony  were  a  religious  group  of  arachnid  called  fateweavers ,  claimed  to  be  prophets  of  the  prime  as  well  as  preaching  his  messages  of  unity .   AIRACHNID  DISAGREED .  she  was  a  blacksheep  who  never  had  anybody’s  best  interest  at  heart  -  excluding  her  own .  she  was  selfless ,  caused  conflict  between  clans  by  killing  &  anatomizing  innocent  eukarians  for  the  sake  of  improving  her own  prophetic  predictions ,  and  went  as  far  as  calling  the  primes’  prophesies  short - sighted .  as  a  result ,  she  was  exiled .

with  the  biggest  war  of  the  universe  going  on ,  there  was  no  chance  of  her  NOT  learning  about  the  decepticons  from  indistict  radio  chatter ,  from  people  during  her  short - lived  travels  of  making  endsmeet  through  her  mnemosurgery .  and  it  was  no  secret  that  there  was  a  prophetic  face  now  off  the  face  of  eukaris .  she  avoided  attention  as  much  as  she  could ,  and  it  was  off - planet  that  she  applied  to  join  the  decepticon  cause  on  the  backline  -  as  a  stringpuller  &  brainwasher ,  gathering  information  with  every  brainmodule  she  were  bought  to  pull  apart .  so  she  climbed  ranks  pretty  quickly  -  was  eventually  even  given  the  label  of  a  torture  expert  and  moved  onto  physical  torture ,  as  well  as  mental .

004 .   MEGATRON  VS .  STARSCREAM .

SUPER  interesting  question  !   the  answer  is  none .  as  equally  as  it  is  both .  it’s  not  that  airachnid  disagrees  with  either  of  their  rule-ling ,  she  just  wishes  it  were  HER  with  said  power .  she  respects  megatron  because  he  had  a  real  claim  to  his  position  -  though  she  respects  starscream  for  his  more  political  input .  megatron  fought  for  his  power ,  and  there  was  a  constant  push  and  climb  and  he  grew  to  have  an  army  behind  him ,  as  well  as  loyal  right - hands .  starscream ,  on  the  other  hand ,  was  clever  and  managed  to  leech  of  some  segments  of  megatron’s  affirm ,  which  she  also  respects  because  she’s  a  snake  herself .  both  are  clever ,  both  are  dangerous  and  manipulative ,  and  both  know  exactly  what  they  want  as  a  result  of  their  work ,  and  that’s  what  airachnid  respects  the  most .  SO  IT’S  EQUAL .  but  if  she  had  to  pick  a  side ,  it’d  be  the  winning  one  …  so  megatron .

but  out  of  her  personal  experience  with  the  two ,  she’d  DEFINITELY  pick  megatron  over  starscream  anyday .  megatron  may  be  powercrazy ,  but  he's  got  an  army  behind  him .  and  didn’t  try  to  betray  her  15  times  over.   but  that  were  if  she  had  to  pick  either .  she’s  always  on  her  own  team .
