ELUVEITIE Announces New Album 'Ànv'

About one month ago ELUVEITIE released "Premonition", the first new music after two long years. Today the band announce their new album "Ànv", which will be released on April 25, 2025 via Nuclear Blast Records. ELUVEITIE also shares the second song "The Prodigal Ones" from the upcoming album. After their own headliner tour "Ánv Rising - Europe", which starts in January 2025, the band will hit the road again together with ARCH ENEMY, AMORPHIS and GATECREEPER in October 2025.

ELUVEITIE frontman Chrigel Glanzmann comments: "Hard to express how excited we are to share this one with you all! ELUVEITIE, formed in 2002 by Chrigel Glanzmann, has consistently merged modern metal with Celtic musical traditions. Originating from the Swiss Alps and deeply rooted in Celtic history, mythology, and spirituality, the band has become a cornerstone of the modern metal scene. Their debut, "Vên" (2004),set the stage for a unique blend of melodic death metal and traditional folk. Subsequent albums like "Slania", "Everything Remains (As It Never Was)", "Helvetios" and "Origins" solidified their reputation. The acoustic albums "Evocation I - The Arcane Dominion" and "Evocation II – Pantheon" showcased their versatility.

In 2022, ELUVEITIE released the singles "Aidus" and "Exile Of The Gods", marking a new chapter in their musical journey and thematical cycle pursuing the lyrical concept opened by their last studio album "Ategnatos". New Eluveitie song! It's a bit unusual for their style, which I find interesting but maybe a turn off for some fans. Still, I think it's worth checking out.

The new album will be called Ànu (the name comes from a goddess very briefly mentioned in Irish mythology who is theorised to be at least connected (if not the same as) to several other Celtic deities; the most common interpretation names her The Mother Of The Gods, associated with wisdom, skill, rivers as a source of knowledge and maybe even the Earth and land itself - again, apparently there are little references to this figure and they're mostly confusing and my research leaves a lot to be desired*). Surprisingly, even with the theme connections Aidus and Exile of the Gods are not part of the album's tracklist. They're bonus tracks on the digibook version. The cover is pretty though:

*And by that I mean I ended up reading one short paper from the Harvard Celtic Colloquium which, although entertaining, definitely didn't cure the gaps in my knowledge about Celtic mythology. All resource recommendations are welcome, I'm very curious about the topic. XD

It's also very probable that nobody from the band thought that much about this reference, LOL
