Trinamool Congress MPs attacked in Tripura | Agartala News - Net4News
KOLKATA: Two Trinamool Congress MPs - Dola Sen and Aparupa Poddar - were attacked on Sunday while they were travelling to Thairum in Tripura to hoist the national flag. Their cars were ransacked and the MPs were attacked and a secretary of Dola Sen sustained a head injury as bricks were thrown at their car. The mobile and bags of Aparupa Poddar were also snatched away, the MP claimed. Dola Sen, a Rajya Sabha member, said “CM Mamata had called to take information after she came to know of the attack on us. She said that this jungle raj will come to an end soon. We are returning to Kolkata by evening flight for the treatment of the ” Dola condemned the attack and said that this shows that BJP government is afraid of Trinamool. She said that bricks were hurled at random in presence of the police. The police had remained inactive which helped the attackers, she alleged. They even hit the car with bamboo and sticks, the MP added. Trinamool MPs and leaders staged a protest in Agartala in protest against the attack on two MPs. Trinamool is supposed to organize Khela Hobe Diwas on Monday in various places of Tripura. With assembly polls due in 2023, Trinamool is targetting Tripura to make its presence felt. Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh criticised the Tripura government and dubbed it as a Gunda raj rule as two women MPs were attacked on Sunday. Ghosh said: "There is no freedom in Tripura. BJP is running a Gunda-raj. Tripura is in a state of emergency. “ Ghosh a former MP said that Aparupa Poddar's bag and other essential things have been snatched away. “TMC supporters are continuously hunted and beaten up. They are severely injured. What is the fault of AITC MP Dola Sen and AITC MP Aparupa Poddar? Two women MPs on their way to celebrate Independence Day and hoist the national flag were brutally attacked. Is this the condition of democracy in Tripura?" asked Ghosh. -- "Several I-PAC employees were detained. They were in Tripura to do a survey. Why did BJP using the police to detain them? What are they so afraid of," Ghosh questioned. Earlier the car of Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of Trinamool was attacked on his way to the Tripureshwari Temple. Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had claimed that Union home minister had instructed the attack on Abhishek.
