Stop allowing people to force you to be someone you’re not comfortable being! Stop staying in places you’re uncomfortable! Stop holding your peace when doing so hurts you! Stop thinking you HAVE to go, do, be, or give! Stop believing you can’t say no! Stop pouring all of yourself into people, places, and things! Stop thinking you don’t need to rest! Random Electives 101
Core Christianity vs. Catholic Tumblrs
It is Wednesday, my dudes, and no one of us want to be here, including myself. Ever since I have placed the content restrictions to filter out catholic posts from my feed, I’ve been enjoying my time with n tumblr pursuing other avenues. However @animeandcatholicism has chosen to reblog Paula’s post while the following bloggers scurry in tune: @genibibiou @thelegendofsqam @snarkleharkle @ladyintheattic & @dumbassmcblyat . The reblog had such a grave error, that now I must give a non-literature lecture. Again.
Recap of the first lecture:
In the first paragraph, Paula submits misleading information about moral nature of the Christian beliefs. A possible interpretation could lead to the conclusion that some people are inherently evil while others are inherently good. This interpretation would go against Christianity at its core. The core Christian beliefs of human morality would claim that all are doomed by sin (Romans 6:23), with the exception of Jesus of Nazareth. In turn, the morality struggle assumed by the Christian belief is less of good versus evil and more of the acceptance or rejection of Jesus’ mercy and grace.
I’ve attempted to compare this interpretation to the moral philosophy of other belief systems. The closest system that crossed my mind would be Egyptian Religion, where souls would be granted entry to the eternal paradise of the Field of Reeds upon matching the weight requirements of being as light as a feather. Even then, there’s no reasoning that morality is predetermined.
The notion of actions having no effect on one’s morality is contradicted with the original sin in the Garden of Eden, where Adam’s and Eve’s disobedience doomed them to exile from God’s presence. In turn, the Christian faith holds the belief that at some point, all of In regards to believers in Christ, committing acts of sin doesn’t negate Jesus’ sacrifice, yet their are viewpoints that suggest that sin halts the sanctification process. Refer to John 17:17,20.
Not only is the implication that Paula alludes to inaccurate, such an implication is dangerous to human society. To say that someone is morally incorruptible leads to the conclusion that any harmful action committed to them is morally justified. This thought process was used in history in regards to Europeans enslaving Africans and Americans pursuing the Native American territories through assumed Manifest Destiny.
Quick minor notes:
The belief of how correction can only come from religious authorities becomes ironically laughable when one considers how Jesus corrected those religious authorities time and time again as the son of a carpenter.
Said belief also carries dangers as religious authority figures then have the possibility to act immorally without opposition. Thus, when one the recalls the numerous news stories about church leaders sexually harassing, abusing, and assaulting others, the claim becomes less laughable.
To say that my correction comes from a place of ignorance appears to be a dismissal of anything that I have to say. However, it comes across as the pot calling the sour cream black. How so? Well, to start off with, Paula is making a claim that I speak in ignorance while speaking some truth. This leads me to ask, “Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water?” (Yes that is a reference to James 3.) Readers should note that Paula’s reblog doesn’t reference any scripture. We can all choose how to look at this, however I chose to that as Paula leaning on her own understanding. (Yes, that is a reference to Proverbs 3:5.)
Even if Paula’s claims were true, then that would imply that animeandCatholicism misused scripture to begin with, as my initial claim wasn’t that irishironclad was evil, but that they had some ways to go in their sanctification process.
Personal Conclusion:
It appears to me that the Catholic Tumblrs that I have encountered have developed a new culture that deviates far from the core beliefs of Christianity. At the start we had Irish Iron Clad posting a really bad take in regards to bullying others. I countered posted my beliefs that making such post hurts future testimonies. Then, the Catholic community chose to stand on the side of bullying others while half made other post that continued to hurt their testimonies. Meanwhile, those who came to support Irish iron clad in good faith are still staining their testimonies with the original bad take that Bullying others who ignore Christianity in their social media is okay. If you ask me, things are playing rather similarly to the whole judicial trial of Jesus of Nazareth. You have someone coming speaking love your enemies, the zealot religious people calling blasphemy, and when presented the choice to take the side of someone who proclaims “We should bully people who block Christian tags” or someone who thinks “Maybe bullying people with different beliefs is not all that Christian-like,” the religious masses plead to release Barabbas and rush to the side of their member with a bad take.
Now, If I had witnessed anyone in good faith correcting the fellow Catholic Tumblrs who reblogged with bad takes, I would be inclined to believe otherwise. However, it appears that Catholic Tumblrs are more interested in preserving their false sense of justification of themselves and each other than they are about seeking God.
If anyone is curious about my method of correction, then I hold true to my choice because of my belief in how the algorithm works. The primary post gets credit to any notes, despite if they are notes of criticism. Showing any discourse to a post only allows that original post to gain strength. I don’t enjoy the idea of doing such to a post that makes light of bullying others, therefore I choose to originate a separate post. In turn, this allows the discourse generated from my post to highlight my point primarily. The irony is that while everyone is reblogging that no one is going to listen to me while adding nothing to the conversation, they in turn generate a further audience that is first introduced to the initial point made by me.
Homework Assignment:
The last time I gave this lecture, there was no homework given. Why? Well, if I’m being honest, it’s because grading multiple assignments isn’t how I want to spend my slow time at work. However, since the loud minority have demonstrated an unwillingness to learn and a thick-headiness to spout off rhetoric that can be disproven by the word that they are supposed to know more than I do, then homework it is then.
Respond to this blog chain with your beliefs on all that have been discussed with persuasive support points as to why you believe such. I’ll be grading on both a grammatical scale and persuasive speech scale.
Tumblr media
@irishironclad Maybe if you and those like you acted more like Jesus of Nazareth, others would be more inclined to interact with you.
You have heard that it was said, “You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.” But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:43-48)

#DailyDevotional — Asking for a friend
#DailyDevotional — Asking for a friend
There is so much suicide, division, divorce, severed relationships, hurt and pain. There are strongholds gripping families like never before. Demonic spirits that are smothering the sanctity of worship places. Mental illness that is on the rise and it is taking over generations. And for the sake of “keeping quiet,” we are losing. There are ministry leaders on the verge of suicide, wives at their…

Thank you for your explanation for the skin-color-as-food-description thing! (also I apologize to all olives for assuming them mostly green ;) ) Are there any good resources/tips on writing a diverse cast without falling into the old stereotypes/food-descriptors/more-yikes-words-that-are-yikes? I guess there are probably a lot more pitfalls to this I really want to avoid in the future.
--
I accept your groveling, olive besmircher! ;P
There are guides...
As a white American, I have found it useful to at least peruse them to familiarize myself with things I might not have realized are cliches and red flags. And the reason I have found them useful is that I am a white American, the typical target audience of such guides.
Writingwithcolor, on tumblr, is a classic example of guides produced by fandom.
The thing is, a lot of fans who are from outside of a US context find these guides really... err... misguided. They feel they center the experiences of diaspora in a few countries (like the US, UK, and Canada) over the experiences of people in the home country. They feel they're too One Right Way or too obviously aimed at white people. Many people find them too enmeshed in a US-centric POC framework for dividing identities into categories as opposed to how identity would be seen in even Europe or Australia or New Zealand, never mind various parts of Asia or Africa.
So I'm not saying don't read them. Absolutely. If you want a guide, go read all of the many posts on writingwithcolor. Go find other guides.
But you're not going to find a magic bullet that fixes this.
I would personally focus more on not being an asshat in your own context than on pleasing the nitpicking Americans who might find your fanfic and find it problematique for stupid reasons. What ethnic minorities exist where you are? What do they think about writing cliches? And not just the loudest bloggers: what do people you run into in your actual life think? What do writers from your location think?
There's really no substitute for having a varied friend group and talking to them, but life experience and reading widely are helpful too.
There's no substitute for specificity either. Are you writing Sam Wilson or are you writing BTS? Are you writing something completely original? Is it set in the real world or is it fantasy?
If you want to write African Americans or some specific group not near you, go explore the rich history of literature from this group. Maybe for some groups, there isn't much to find, but black people in the US have produced a fuckton of art about their own experiences, and so have many other groups. Go consume it if you're interested.
Recognize that a very specific niche of highly online people who share the same politics isn't going to give you a robust view of an entire group. Sam Wilson is probably considerably more conservative and traditional than a lot of black bloggers in fandom and considerably less concerned with minutia of word choice given that he's a military guy who has made it through a whole career of other military guys. That doesn't mean he agrees with white US conservatives though or even that he's what we might call conservative overall. Ditto Nile Freeman from The Old Guard. Meanwhile, Peter Grant from Rivers of London is likely going to have far more leftist economic views, less of a connection to Christianity, and certainly a far stronger connection to an immigrant experience.
It's more important to learn enough to write something you know isn't offensive drivel than it is to listen to each and every hater you encounter. Those queer teenagers wailing about "the q slur" have equivalents in any demographic. Beware giving too much weight to this sort of person's views.
But that said, I don't think you need to wallow in research until the end of time. It is far more important to try in good faith than to fear getting something wrong.
Someone might yell at you, and that sucks, but if you're more afraid of that than of making boring art about only one kind of character, you're focused on the wrong thing. If you have basic confidence in your own intentions and general knowledge, you can shrug off the most mean-spirited or petty critiques and are better able to listen to the more relevant ones.
If you just want a list of words that are slurs, that's relatively easy. Writing something that sensitively and properly represents any group is harder, even if you're a group member yourself, and a lot of it comes down to writing skill.
There is no magic bullet.

Why Have God Allowed You To Be Born?
Tumblr media
Have you ever wondered why God allowed you to come to planet earth? Out of 2 million sperm cells yours made it through. You competed with 199 million sperms cells, that’s a significantly high number to compete with, but yours made it to the finish line and fertilized your mother’s egg.
You were destine to win before you showed up on the planet. You swam at such an accelerated rate. May I…

Thank you for all you do! I was wondering if you have any suggestions for books on theology (especially liberation theology) that might be inspiring and comforting in these times?
Heck yeah!
For comfort
Learning to Walk in the Dark by Barbara Brown Taylor offers a lovely exploration of what faith brings us in times of grief, pain, and a sense of God’s absence. You can read one of the chapters online here, and hear me read a passage from it here.
Everything Happens for a Reason - and Other Lies I’ve Loved by Kate Bowler is a fantastic exploration of how the prosperity gospel doesn’t help us through catastrophes like illness and death. Check out her spin-off podcast, too.
My Bright Abyss: Meditation of a Modern Believer by Christian Wiman: a prose-poetry story of seeking and struggling towards the ineffable Divine
For Understanding
Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman is a small little book that everyone should read -- it’s about how God always puts Herself alongside those with their backs against the wall
On Job by Gustavo Gutierrez: a small but dense text, very academic language, on the question of where God is in suffering
The Cross and the Lynching Tree by James Cone: connects the lynchings of African Americans to Jesus’ crucifixion and otherwise explores how Christ is Black
Our Lives Matter: A Womanist Queer Theology by Pamela Lightsey
For Motivation to act up against injustice!!
Rethinking Incarceration by Dominique DuBois Gilliard
explores the history and foundation of mass incarceration, examining Christianity’s role in its evolution and expansion. He then shows how Christians can pursue justice that restores and reconciles, offering creative solutions and highlighting innovative interventions.
Good White Racist? Confronting Your Role in Racial Injustice by Kerry Connelly
Unapologetic: A Black, Queer, and Feminist Mandate for Radical Movements by Charlene A. Carruthers (this one’s“secular,” but so super good)
“The Case for Reparations” by Ta-Nehisi Coates (also “secular”)
Trouble I’ve Seen: Changing the Way the Church Views Racism by Drew G.I. Hart
theologian and blogger Drew G. I. Hart places police brutality, mass incarceration, anti-black stereotypes, poverty, and everyday acts of racism within the larger framework of white supremacy. He argues that white Christians have repeatedly gotten it wrong about race because dominant culture and white privilege have so thoroughly shaped their assumptions.
Dear Church: A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the US by Lenny Duncan
Part manifesto, part confession, and all love letter, Dear Church offers a bold new vision for the future of Duncan's denomination and the broader mainline Christian community of faith. Dear Church rejects the narrative of church decline and calls everyone--leaders and laity alike--to the front lines of the church's renewal through racial equality and justice.
Trouble the Water: A Christian Resource for the Work of Racial Justice by Michael Ray-Mathews and Marie-Clare P Onwubuariri
Trouble the Water is a resource for individuals and congregations endeavoring to take seriously the ever-increasing necessity of work toward racial justice while attending to the intersections of our identities and the intersecting nature of oppression, injustice, and violence. Trouble the Water is shaped by a multitude of voices that make it unique among resources for individuals and congregations working toward racial justice. The authors address theory and theology that is foundational to the work of racial justice, provide praxis-oriented chapters helping readers conceive of ways to engage in the work of racial justice as individuals and as congregations, and render inspiring narratives from churches that have been doing the work of racial justice for many years.

30 Questions
Rules: Answer 30 questions and tag 20 blogs you
are contractually obligated to know better.
I wanted to tag some christian bloggers but I'm to scared, so I'm just not gonna tag anybody. So who ever sees this and wants to do this from my blog, go right ahead lol
Thank you for tagging me @bubblegumnebulaa !
1. Name/Nickname: Nikia/ Nikki / Sakura / Saki (I call myself those last two names. For what reason? I still don't know.)
2. Gender: Female
3. Star sign: I'm not into star signs but I'll answer; Gemini
4. Height: I haven't properly checked my height for years, but I'm around 5'4 or 5'5 right now? (It's kinda sad that for a girl my age, I can't even tell my own height 😔 I would blame my family for not teaching me but it's mostly my fault for not teaching myself common sense.)
5. Time: 5:31 p.m.
6. Birthday: June 16th
7. Favorite bands: I don't really have a favorite band, I just listen to whatever music pleases me (mostly Korean or Christian music) but I will say that For KING and COUNTRY songs (they are a duo of Christian singers) slaps!
8. Favorite solo artists: Same answer as last question. I just listen to whatever music pleases me so I don't have a favorite artist. Actually, I can answer this question. It's just one artist however. His name is KB. He is a Christian Hip-hop artist. My man makes really good music.
9. Song stuck in my head: Song? Nah, it's multiple songs being stuck on repeat in my head at the same time and I can't even differentiate between any of them. But one I can say right now that I have stuck on repeat is the song "Angels We Have Heard On High" by For KING and COUNTRY.
10. Last movie I watched: I can't even remember lol
11. Last show I watched: Spongebob Squarepants ( I stay up really late at night so I keep seeing this show on repeat.)
12. When did I create this blog: According to my tumblr archive, I started this blog in May of 2016 but only became active from reblogging from others in December of the same year.
13. What do you post: Basically nothing. Sometimes something, but nothing 😂. If you were to take away all my reblogs from here, my blog would be BARE.
14. Last thing googled: "How to complete food delivery quest for Genshin Impact" (If you play the game, the food event was freaking annoying to finish...)
15. Other blogs: I don't have any other blogs on here. Just other social media accounts I don't use.
16. Do I get asks: Rarely
17. Why I chose my URL: I have no idea lol. I'm not really that creative so I just put one of my OC's name with the word girl and BOOM there you go! I've been created!
18. Following: 425
19. Followers: 138 (mostly porn blogs...)
20. Average hours of sleep: Maybe around 2 to 3 hours? I said before I don't really sleep at night. So I sleep during the day and afternoon.
21. Lucky number: 7
22. Instruments: I play piano as of right now. Use to play the flute back when I was in band. I don't play constantly because I'm... kinda sad? Idk, I just have no motivation anymore to do things I love anymore. I just sleep all day, stare at my phone, and become paranoid at every sound I hear. And with everybody talking about what's gonna happen on the 21st, I just gave up. I'm tired... (Didn't mean to rant)
23. What am I wearing: The question is, what am I NOT wearing? Ok jk jk. I'm wearing my old red band T-shirt with some shorts.
24. Dream job: Don't have one. I use to love acting and took a two year acting course at school. Use to act in plays and people said I did great for a shy girl. Wanted to go to Hollywood but realize I ain't about to do the horrid shit they do there and become one of those people who get "cancelled" for having a different opinion :) Other than that, I don't care about a job. Besides, I probably won't make it to the age of getting a proper career.
25. Deam trip(s): Japan, South Korea, Guyana, Hawaii (my school has a lady who use to travel a lot before becoming teacher, so she decided to plan trips for people to sign up for if she can afford it with some company. It can only be in the United States however. I was one of the lucky ones to sign up quickly this year, because she can only take a few people, and the trip for 2021 will be going to Hawaii. I was allowed to let my mother come because I don't have friends really so hopefully, June of 2021 will be the best trip my mother has ever taken.
26. Favorite foods: I have Guyanese blood in me. My whole family is from there, but decided to move to America. I'm tired of living in a state and county that has horrid food that is not healthy for us. Ok, I wouldn't say the country has bad food in general, but I live in Mississippi. The only thing I can afford is junk food because Walmart doesn't want to keep their fruits and vegetables fresh enough and my family can't afford to go to another Walmart here in the state just to make us eat healthy 😒. Ok back to my point lol. Whenever we get the chance, we eat a lot of Guyanese food or just Carribean foods in general. They taste better than America food. If my family didn't leave home, we would have access to a bunch of fruits and vegetables for FREE.
27. Nationality (with my ethnicity???): As stated before, I got Guyanese blood. My ethnicity you could say is African American, mixed with Indian and with some Portuguese( I don't freaking know honestly, I got to look more into nationality and ethnics) But I'm an American citizen because I was born during the time when my family came here. Soooooo, American? ( I'm telling you guys, me being the age I am, I got no right being this damn dumb 💀)
28. Favorite song: Like the other two questions dealing with music, whatever pleases me. But I'll just say the same thing as before "Angels We Have Heard on High" by For KING & COUNTRY.
29. Last book read: My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Volume 2
30. Top three fictional universes I would like to live in: JoJo's bizarre Adventures, My Hero Academia, and Keeper of the Lost Cities. (It's a book series lol, it's really nice.)
Wowzers, that took long. Again, thank you @bubblegumnebulaa for tagging me :)

Nobody has a right of self-defense against this country [USA], even if it intervenes across the ocean to impose by force governments that the people of that country reject — Noam Chomsky
America rose to dominance post-WW2, post 9-11 it has again made another power surge to become an even stronger super power. More extended, more involved, more unapologetic about stepping on other nations sovereignty. The USA has an amazing knack for converting every global crisis into a stepping stone for its own interest; amazing efficient at exploiting regional conflicts. The U.S. has spent $1.3 trillion on the war on terror so far. That was in reaction to about 14,000 total deaths from so-called international terrorism from 1975 to 2003. That’s more than $90 million spent for each person killed. Right now, according to Robert Fisk, Western military presences inside the Islamic World is 22 times that than during the Crusades, yet the Western world expects zero response to this neocolonialism. [11] And what blinds reality and informs public opinion to demonize religion, in this case Islam, is only because Muslims do not to own Fox, CNN, BBC News, or even Western controlled Al-Jazeera (Al-CNN).
Forget the worldwide rampant Islamophobia and demonization of Arabs… Human Rights and Labor, has “institutionalized the fight against global anti-Semitism”, even though the US military and their allies have been destroying countries mostly populated by Muslims for over a decade. Or maybe is it precisely to support the war on Islam and the Arab World – a.k.a. “war on terrorism” – that the “war on global anti-Semitism” is being launched?–Julie Lévesque
And again it is “religious” when people of Islamic heritage take up arms, for whatever reason (mainly defense), but non-religious when “Christian” nations “bomb them back into the stone ages.” How does that work? Why is the threshold of inclusion of a “religious act of violence” so open where Islam is concerned, and so closed when Europeans practicing Christianity is concern. If a Muslim sneezes in the wrong direction it is automatically an act of their Islamic faith. And why is spreading “Islamic Sharia” to Muslim countries so offensive, yet spreading capitalism and its carrying bag (sometimes going by the sobriquet democracy) so acceptable? Why is a “Jewish state” allowed but an “Islamic state” taboo? Has this democracy created any tangible benefits for oppressed people in South Africa, Israel, or even democracy’s own country of manufacture?
The only thing that can be seen as “Successful” in the world is a Western model. To beat out another path is vulgarly heterodoxical, and will be met with an absolute, and copious prejudicial use of force. Alternatives must not only fail, they must be made to fail visibly to deter being inspirational. And this is the backdrop to every major clash post WW2. Because as far as the Western control, they allow sell systems which they make so they can be manipulated (like their brand of Democracy).
Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it– Hitler
There is a global campaign from CNN (hawks) right down to Europe’s favorite African intellectuals (vultures) to push a myth by collating every instance which fingers “Islam and a problem” because “they hate our freedoms.” (freedoms or foreign policies? [Zogby]) If one compiles all the reports side by side the pattern is crystal clear; semi-fictional, hyperbole, dubious sources, to create a relationship to justify an agenda. This one-way moral mirror used to discuss “religion” never reflects on Western “secular” aggression with the same tone or supposed impartiality.
And it is identical to the way in which Africans are demonized in the West by constantly reporting statistics and occurrences, which they say prove the myth of a “Black problem.” But failing to mention the oppression African Americans have been victims of for the last 300 years. Why does it work? Because the general public are ignorant or misinformed about the dynamics and the overview of most of the world’s issues. Again reality seems to verify a casual relationship between African-Americans rape and others crimes.
The mass media become the authority at any given moment for what is true and what is false, what is reality and what is fantasy, what is important and what is trivial. There is no greater force in shaping the public mind; even brute force triumphs only by creating an accepting attitude toward the brutes –Ben Bagdikian (The Media Monopoly)
One thing should ring out in every situation, WHO DOES IT REALLY PROFIT. If America has a hand in anything, and they have their hand in everything, be 100% sure it profits America. Some rebels are good, some rebels are bad. History is replete testifies that what determines good rebels and bad rebels is American interest.
Why discuss anything without also factoring that Muslim countries control most of the world’s oil reserves? And Western powers have been hell bent on seeking justification for the taking of these assets under the guise of a “War on Terror.” And the omnipresent evil or nemesis of the “good White guys” is the omnipresent monolithic faceless “Islamist,” a neologism created by US foreign policy. It would be dishonest to label Western as Christian, or Israel as Judaism, just as it is dishonest to factor religion into a greedy neocolonial resource conflict. We also seem to forget the fact that of the top 10 deadliest conflicts on Earth none of them were religious in nature.
In the last 20 years of American history, there have been 129 confirmed White terrorist (Timothy Mcveigh, Robert Lewis Dear, to the Olympic Park Bomber, to the infamous Unabomber), all Christian, all white, all American, an all successful at killing people: However, has that fact ever factored in profiling White American Christians? Has it caused a backlash or the mythical association between Christianity, secularism or America and violence?“ Who from Anders Behring Breivik religion made a global apology? With the Rober Dear attacks blogger James Schlarmann chided “moderate white Christians” for not denouncing the Planned Parenthood attack as “moderate Muslims” are often asked to denounce Islamist terrorism.
And listen to the media “Oh he was stressed, he had a hard childhood”, I am sure Binny Boy was under a lot of stress also with all those Yankie troops prostituting his country. What about Michael Kadar, the Jewish lad who made hoax terrorist calls to Jewish organizations? Apparently his tumor made him do it.9) Less than a score of Arabs are accused of lone terrorist acts and now, because of that 0.0000000000001%, 1.5 billion people, 1/5 humans on the planet are on the FBI watch list. The one million dead Iraqi children somehow are “unworthy” causalities (Chomsky),that is not “religious aggression” by Western nations because it is sanitized by words such as indirect war, collateral damage and the cost of liberation.
