Wylla Karstark is content with her life in the far reaches of the North, happy to be so far from the brewing war that threatens to tear apart the country. She has everything she ever thought she needed - her brothers, her mother, the land she loves. Then Aemond Targaryen tumbles from the sky, abandoned by his dragon and left at her mercy, pressing at her every nerve and opening her eyes to the possibility of life beyond Karhold. But what happens when the tables turn and it's Wylla who finds herself under the thumb of the One-Eyed Prince and thrust into a war she has little hope of surviving? Can a fox endure the attention of a dragon?

i'm currently reading 1968 by @inthedayswhenlandswerefew. it is an angsty reader x aegon au and i am totally hooked! maggie never misses on her modern au's.

i am also reading the maiden and the drowning boy by @emilykaldwen. it is an ongoing canon-era aegon x oc fic with an oc i absolutely adore. the development so far of abby and aegon is lovely and nuanced and you cannot convince me that abby isn't a canon character as she fits in so well! (she is in my heart, grrm watch OUT.)

additionally, i'm enraptured by they say i killed you (haunt me then) by @vampire-exgirlfriend. wylla is another oc i absolutely love, paired with aemond. i love me a feisty northern woman so wylla fits the bill perfectly and gives aemond a run for his money.

as for angsty fics (that i have finished!) i have quite a few to recommend!!

glass cuts deepest by @flowerandblood is a beautiful series and i could go on for hours on why this is one of my favorite series. it is a modern au with a ~scandalous~ student / professor pairing with oh so much angst. this fic (and the lovely author) made me create my tumblr account and share my writing with you all, so it is close to my heart!

who taught you to love like that? by @ewanmitchellcrumbs made me tear up quite a few times and may or may not be my late night why-am-i-crying-and-horny-at-the-same-time fic. conscripted me into the aemond x sugar baby vision. want it, need it. asap.

dragonskin by @missybee-writes is a LONG HAUL for sure, but goodness gracious if it doesn't hit all of the points of a good read for me. angst, action, romance, smut... and take everything you know about the dance of the dragons and throw it out the window, because things are VERY much different here. it is a ride i can't wait to sit down and take again!

consequences by @targaryenrealnessdarling is the QUINTESENTIAL angst fic. not only that, it is inclusive of one of my favorite tropes which is aemond x maid / servant. this fic has TEETH and will rip your little heart out but good god if it doesn't hurt so good!! this is another fic i read when i need a good cry.

List of OCs

I was recently asked to list out all the ocs that I have so far. Some of them have been flesh out to written pieces, others are just ideas that I’ve mentioned briefly (and hope to maybe write fics about but that is up in the air). I will try to link to the pieces, as well as the asks tags. I will add to this as things go along.

I like doing little oc games with them so be on the look out for when I reblog the prompts. It’s the best way I can expland on these ocs, especially the ones I haven’t fully written for.

First I want to start with the ocs that I get asked the most about bc there is just more material on them or I plan on writing full length things for their character in the recent future:

Myrah Everlane: main of Finding Common Cause. Lower nobleborn woman from the Vale. Set in an au where Aegon becomes king and everyone lives. Myrah and Aemond do eventually get married and have children. Use tags: oc inspo: myrah, and fcc asks for her. I also have answered asks about a modern fcc universe. Use tags: modern fcc asks, oc inspo: modern Myrah, and modern fcc inspo

Cassandra Devereux: based off my finished fool me once fic (an Aemond x reader fic). This is an au where their family lives after the dance, making Aemond king, and Cassandra queen with their kids as princesses and princes. It’s their journey post losing everyone, and navigating running the realm. I write mainly short blurbs and such for them. Use tags: fmo k&q au, and oc inspo: Cassandra

Next are ocs that I have written one part for or they are just eventual ideas that I would like to expand on

Elysa: she is from Drowned in Love. My alys x oc x Aemond fic. She is a bastard born Tully. This happens towards the end of the dance. Both alys and Elysa have Aemond’s children. It is has three parts already but is paused at the moment. There is a drowned in love inspo tag and a dil asks tag

Edith: She is from Acquired Taste. An Aegon centric fic. I don’t have much on her, other than these fashion post I like making for my ocs. I planned on making a part 2 for this story but as of now, it is paused. There is a few posts that can be found in the acquired taste asks tag

Nina: my modern Royal oc. This is more an idea that would like to flesh out eventually. Also an oc with little info bc I haven’t said much about her. All I have is that she is an Epidemiologist that meets Aemond when he is visiting labs (post pandemic) for funding. Very much ‘commoner’ becomes a princess type of story. I also have a modern royalty inspo tag

Clarisse: greek life au. This was an idea I had for an oc x Aemond x daeron idea. Basically daeron likes clarisse who Aemond. Greek life au and inspo tag is where you can find stuff but is it sparse

Now this character technically isn’t an oc yet. She if my first Aegon x reader fic, set in the modern universe - one step forward two steps back. It is also paused, much like my other Aegon fic but if I ever were to continue it, I’d want to make her an oc named Ivy. You can look through osftsf asks

I’m gonna group Jocelyn Velaryon (formerly known as Laenora) and Wylla in the same one. These are two ocs I had around the same time. Jocelyn is the youngest daughter of corlys and rhaenys. Wylla is a northerner/warg. I really want to write a northerner oc eventually.

The Many Names of Lady Wylla Karstark - they say i killed you (haunt me then)

I have been ruminating over the idea for a set like this for so long (waaaay before I even had an inkling of an idea of how to gif) and I was absolutely inspired by the incredible title set that @moireia created for her oc, Alyssa Snow.

Haunt Me is finally nearing the end (how are there only five chapters left?!) and I'm just so grateful for all of the support that I've had along the way - @jadore-andor and @emilykaldwen, I'm looking at you. Go read The Maiden and the Drowning Boy by Nat and check out Allana Tyrell, Mare's ASOIAF oc, if you want that good Aegon II content.

I will never not be in love with Wylla and Aemond and their romance and the family they built and held on to despite all the odds being stacked against them. If you've been along for their wild ride, thank you!

well, here it is, my first ever gifset. the title for this fic gives me away for the Emily Bronte fangirl that i am and always have been, and it felt fitting to finally bring these babies to life myself as the story winds down to an end that will bring it to over 250k words. and, as per usual, i am nothing without the amazing friend's i've collected like health potions. this set would not have been possible without @emilykaldwen and @aegonx encouraging me and lending me their helping hands. so a million kisses for you both.

He screamed his pain, the howl swallowed up by the light blue sky, and Vhagar answered with a roar, more fire spilling forth from her gullet, the smoke billowing so high as to surround them amidst the clouds. The green of the Riverlands had begun to fade the further south they went, melting into softer browns as they neared the Crownlands. The higher they flew, the thinner the air became, his head light with it, so light that the memories released their hold, and Aemond wondered what it would feel like to fall, to become weightless, to know that the ground would meet him and swallow him and snuff out his sins. So it was to be madness then, Aemond realized. It would be madness that took him from this world. Madness over his ineptitude, madness over the idea that any life at all was attainable for him, that happiness was within reach for him; madness over the notion that he was anything other than the failure he had always considered his brother. Something in the thought steeled him. He would accept this punishment, and he would burn all who opposed him in his fury, blazing like a comet across the sky.  Let Aegon be the bright star Abby referred to him as, let him rule, let him live on. Let him find Abby and Helaena and Wylla, let him save them. It was not cattails and serpent’s eyes that spelled Aemond’s doom. No, it was Aemond himself, cursed since he killed his nephew in the eye of the tempest over Storm’s End, that would bring his own end.  It was fitting, he supposed. No one is so acursed as the kinslayer.

well, we've entered the final arc of haunt me, the last ten chapters! so here's a sneak peak of what we can expect as we move forward toward the end of this journey:

Aemond Targaryen, Hand of the Usurper King, While I might have once commended you for standing by your brother’s side, a choice which no doubt would have earned my respect under different circumstances, for I know what it is to be turned on by your family, I can no longer overlook the treason that the pair of you have committed in the theft of your eldest sister’s, the named heir of the late King Viserys I, throne. Not only have you committed a grievous sin against the realm in this action, you have stolen a daughter of the North, with the blood of the wolf in her veins, and made her accessory to your crimes. You have made my cousin, the good Lady Wylla Karstark, along with her elder brothers, traitors to their family and to the North, their true home. Rectify this. Either send my cousins home, where they can once again live in their keep, where Harrion Karstark can resume his role as heir to Karhold, in the knowledge that they are not traitors to the crown, or leave with them, take up in Queenscrown with Wylla, and put an end to this farce of a war. We both know that your brother will not hold out long without you by his side, dead as your grandsire is, abandoned as House Hightower is by the realm. Perhaps your eldest sister will have mercy on him.
