Warnings: Swearing, mentions of cheating, alcohol use, dubcon, and a bit of angst.
"Is she coming?"
"I don't know. Her asshole cheater ex is going to be there so she might not"
Aemond rolls his eye and clenches his jaw.
"It's been years, Heleana. You think you could maybe stop calling me that?"
" I love you Aem, your my brother but when it comes to you and her I'm on her side. You were a major Jerk"
He groans and runs his hand down his face.
He is sitting at Heleanas breakfast bar in her kitchen. Heleana is moving around the kitchen, getting breakfast ready, and putting coffee on.
"I am aware that I'm the asshole in this story." He lets out a sigh. "I just want to see her again"
"She's happy now, you know. So, any little magical scenarios you have made up in your head where you woo her back to you can be left right there in your head. " she looked at him warningly.
He doesn't say anything and just looks down playing with his fingers.
"She has been with Cregan for a few months now. He's good for her AND good to her. Something you failed at spectacularly"
"We were good together for 4 years! I wasn't horrible the entire time! I messed up once. One time. And she never spoke to me again!"
"If Gwayne had done to me what you did to her.... how would you react?" She looks at him eyebrows raised.
Aemond sighs and puts his head down on the counter. It's pointless Heleana never let's him get away with making up excuses for how your relationship ended and he knows she's right.
He tried for months after you left his dorm to contact you. Apologize. Promise it would never happen again. It was Heleana who ended up making him realize what was done was done.
"Have you heard from her?"
"Yes." Heleana sighed into the phone
"So did you ask her to call me?"
"I did. And then she sent me a video explaining why she didn't want to."
Aemond cringed. "A video?"
"Oh yeah. Like the idiot I am, I told her to record your reaction to her surprise, saying you would be so excited. So she got your entire reunion on video. You're a real prince charming, you know? Do not ask me to contact her again on your behalf. I won't do it and neither will egg. Least you could do at this point is leave her alone."
Aemond is pulled out of his memories by Gwaynes loud. "Good morning!" And the laughter of his niece and nephew.
"Uncle Almond," jaheara yells excitedly. She is only 3 and pronounces his name almond, which Aegon finds hilarious.
"Hey peanut" he reaches down and picks her up placing a big sloppy kiss on her forehead
"Ewwww! She shrieks, wiping her forehead and trying to wiggle out of his arms.
"Everybody ready to go get Uncle Aegon married today?" Gwayne says excitedly towards the kids.
Aemond puts down jaheara and sits on his stool stewing in his own frustration. He never thought that Aegon would be happily married while he was the one alone. Miserable and full of regret.
He never meant to let it get that far with his professor. He knew she was attracted to him right away. He could tell by the way her touch lingered whenever he turned in an assignment or the way her gaze would find him during lectures. He thought flirt with her, and a good grade would be easy. What he didn't plan on was bumping into her on his way back from his first college party drunk out of his mind and having not seen his girlfriend for months. He didn't plan on her offering to help him get back to his dorm, and he didn't plan on allowing her to come in.
He sobered up immediately when he saw her standing at the door, though. The gravity of what he had just done and what was happening in that moment hit him like a freight train.
"Shit! Baby, hold on, let me explain. " Aemond could feel his desperation tightening in his chest. He fucked up, bad, and he knew it .
"Oh, ummm, nope, no thanks"
That reaction was the worst thing he could have gotten from her. No yelling, no fight to be had she was just leaving and not turning back.
He started to panic. If she left right now like this after seeing what he had done, he was afraid that would be it. He grabbed her arm "wait please just give me one second "
You turned on him like a viper pushing his arm away "do not fucking touch me, forget my name loose my number I no longer exist to you"
His chest clenched, it felt like his heart was being squeezed. he swayed on his feet, swallowing down the sickness that attempted to make its way up his throat.
You had turned and went down the hall and out through the doors that led to the stairs
"Shit shit shit! " Aemond ran back into his dorm quickly, putting his sweatpants and sneakers on. His professor was sitting on the bed, strapping her shoes on.
"You know I wouldn't have come up here with you if I knew there was a girlfriend." She looked at him angrily
"I'm sorry" was all he could get out as he ran out of his dorm down the hallway and down the stairs and right through the doors to outside. He ran down the walkway, looking both directions, but didn't see you anywhere.
"No no no no! This can't be it, no, no!" Aemond was yanking at his hair, his eye full of tears. He tries to run to the left but is not steady on his feet because of how much he drank and ends up falling on the sidewalk. He attempts to get himself up but gives up exhausted and lets out a huge loud sob.
He rolls onto his back on the cement of the walkway and just looks up at the sky while tears roll down his cheek.
"This isn't really how we end, is it?" He says to no one
"Hello! Earth to Aemond!" Aemond crashes back into the present with Heleana snapping in his face. She sighs and looks at him tenderly.
"Cmon, eat your breakfast and get ready." She taps his shoulder as she heads out of the kitchen and up the stairs to get her and the kids ready for Aegons nuptials.
He isn't able to get much down, but he takes a few bites and heads upstairs to get himself ready.
He drives to the ceremony with Heleana and Gwayne sitting in the middle of the backseat between the twins in their booster seats.
"I'm gonna marry you one day" Aemond says dreamily looking up at his ceiling.
It's summer of junior year and you are both squished onto his twin bed his arm under you holding you close.
"Oh?" You say picking your head up and looking at him.
"Isn't it obvious, darling? Can't live without ya. Marriage is a given at this point" he laughs, grabbing your chin and pulling you in for a kiss.
"Would you want to get married in the grand Sept or on the beach?"
"Anywhere as long as I'm marrying you," aemond leans in for another kiss.
"I'm serious I want to have it all planned out ahead of time!"
"Then plan it out, baby. Because no matter where it is, I'll show up to marry you"
You giggled as he rolled over on top of you kissing you with purpose
The car door slams. They have made it to the grand Sept, and it is time to get this show on the road. Aemond makes his way inside and heads to the grooms room where Aegon is bouncing around with excitement, putting on his finishing touches.
"Aemond! Smile, man! This is a joyous day!" Aegon yells at him while grabbing his arm and pulling him all the way into the room.
Aemond forces a big smile on his face for Aegon's benefit. It's not that he isn't happy for his brother, he is. He just can't help the jealousy that is flowing through him at this moment.
This could have been them. Should have been them. Would have been them if he didn't screw it all up.
When it's time for the actual ceremony to begin, everyone makes their way to their places. Aemond smiles at Ellyn as they get in line. He can feel his heart rate speed up at the thought that you might be out there. After years of being so far from you, you both might actually be in the same room at the same time.
Aemond waits impatiently for the pair ahead of them to step in front of the doorway and start to walk down the aisle. Once Criston and Maris step out and down the aisle, he and ellyn move forward and stand in the doorway. He sees you right away. You're looking down at the ground, but he could spot that little heart tattoo on the back of your neck anywhere. He has a matching one on the inside of his wrist. He's happy to see yours hasn't been covered or blacked out.
"Matching tattoos? are you daft?" Aegon laughs while looking at Aemond incredulously.
Aemond ignores him slathering on some of the aftercare products he had been told he would need to put on a few times a day.
"And what will you do when you split up? Walking around with that on your arm to remind you forever?"
Aemond laughs and continues applying the balm,"we aren't going to split up egg. This tattoo is forever, and so are we"
"You are 18 Aemond! You couldn't possibly know that you will stay together forever! You leave for university in less than a month! You really think the long-distance thing is going to work? For 4 years?"
"I know it will. Just because you don't understand commitment doesn't mean I don't, " Aemond says haughtily.
Aegon rolls his eyes. "Whatever you say. Just don't let mom see that. She's gonna kill you!"
Ellyn yanks on Aemonds arm and looks at him perplexed.
He clears his throat and starts to make his way down the aisle. Unfortunately for him, he can't really see you now because you're on his blind side. They make it up to the altar and release their arms, each moving to their assigned spot. He flicks his eye back towards you, and you're hard to see. Why did you have to sit so far back?
He pays no attention to how the ceremony continues going on around him, shaking his leg impatiently.
He hears his mother clear her throat from the front row. He looks at her, and she opens her eyes wide and waves her hand at him in a way of telling him to cut it out.
He straightens his back and stands up tall, taking in a deep breath. Focusing on Aegon and Cassandra. They are putting the rings on each other's fingers, and he feels a wave of pain roll through him.
His hands clapsed before him, he started unconsciously rubbing his wrist where the heart tattoo sits. He had no idea this was going to be this hard. His whole body is shaking with emotional overload. When finally Aegon and Cassandra kiss and then turn to their guests, raising their claspsed hands above their heads and starting to make their way back down the aisle he moves forward on shakey legs and joins his arm with Ellyns once more, walking down the aisle he keeps his eye trained on where he knows you are. Your head is turned away from him, looking at the entryway. He can see your arm is looped around the arm of the brown haired man standing next to you. How he would give anything to switch places with him. Even just for a minute. As he continues down the aisle eye trained on you, you turn your head, and it happens. Your tear filled eyes find his, and he forgets how to breathe. Those eyes he has seen filled with rage and hurt for years in his dreams are there right in front of him, filled with tears, and he thinks they have never been more beautiful.
He is forced to stop looking at you once he passes, but he knows your last conversation can't be the last interaction you ever have. No, he has one more chance to talk to you.
At the reception.
A/N: Part 3 is in the works. I have a mid-term tonight and a lot of homework this weekend, so I probably won't get it out until Monday. Thank you to anyone who reads :) ❤️

Imagine Arctic Monkeys’s songs (II): Fluorescent Adolescent.
Imagine you are Aegon’s ex who goes to his wedding… next to his brother, Aemond. What will result of this charming meeting (not to stay a different story)?
Warnings: (loosely?) based on this movie with Keanu Reeves and Wynona Rider.
Warnings 2: light reading, modern world, rom-com vibes.
***
• You used to get it in your fishnets. Now you only get it in your night dress. Discarded all the naughty nights for niceness. Landed in a very common crisis…
As you wait to fly to Dragonstone from King’s Landing airport, you still wonder why you are doing this to yourself. To accept Aegon’s invitation to his marriage to Miss Rhaella Velaryon, his cousin, feels like a complete exhibition of some lack of self esteem.
You think you’ve gotten over him, that you overcame the wounds of this relationship, but this doesn’t sound accurate, no. What you did in practice was stopping getting yourself drunk and going to parties where you felt like a sidekick character just to please him. Part of you admits that his breaking up with you did some good to you. You quit alcohol and started to lead a healthier lifestyle.
But now here you are. Waiting for the moment where you’ll hear a voice in the airport to call the passengers of the flight 321 (how original, you think) to get to their seats. And soon you will fly to see your ex-boyfriend marrying someone else.
As you wonder whether Aegon was really a good boyfriend, you don’t spot a taller, serious, cranky-faced man coming to your side. He is wearing a dark leather jacket and simple clothes, very appropriate for a two hours flight. The man is chewing a gun and is also in a nonchalant posture that annoys you for no reason.
“Would you please stop doing that?”
The silver haired man looks at you, somewhat puzzled by what you tell him.
“Excuse me, what?”
“You know. That.”
“What’s “that”?”
“The arrogant attitude as if you are standing there, contemplating many ways to bother people with your handsomeness.”
He could not help but laugh at your disastrous attempt of flirting. As you realize what you said, you get annoyed at yourself for your lack of social skills.
“If that is your way to compliment me, I appreciate it”, he chuckles. “But I don’t think this is the right way to get to someone.”
“Oh please.”
It comes out wrong, so wrong but you haven’t done this business for ages. Now that it occurs you as you contemplate the amusement behind this stranger man’s smirk, you notice he possesses lilac eyes.
A trait that only a certain family has.
Oh shit.
“You are a Targaryen”, you remark.
He looks rather bored at your observation.
“Indeed it looks so.”
“This means… you are going to the same flight as I? To Dragonstone?”
It then occurs you both an awkward perception.
“You are his brother, Aemond.”
“You cannot be…”, Aemond looks shocked. “Who…?”
“Y/N”, you sigh awkwardly. “His ex girlfriend.”
“Fuck”, is all he can say.
Thankfully the call for the flight interrupts this situation, but it appears that you are not meant to stay away of each for so long.
***
Aemond wishes he is somewhere else, but here he is, next to his brother’s ex girlfriend. You’ve got to be kidding me…
He watches as you struggle to open the bottle of water, wondering whether he should interfere since you haven’t asked for help.
Then, opting to ignore this awkwardness between you and him, he says:
“Need some assistance there?”
You shoot him a disdainful look, but what for? A few seconds later, you say:
“…Maybe.”
He chuckles, taking it and easily opening it before giving it to you. After a while, Aemond, too involved to let go of his curiosity, asks you:
“Why are you going to his marriage?”
Accepting that these two hours may be longer than planned, you sink in your seat, but take the thread offered.
“I need to put a closure in this.”
“He’s going to marry someone else who isn’t you. Shouldn’t this be a closure enough?”
You blush at his complete reasonable remark, unable to convince yourself otherwise.
“He invited me out of politeness and by the same reason I accepted it.”
“When someone does so out of politeness, my dear, it’s because it’s expected that you don’t take it.”
You tilt your head and Aemond seems to notice how nice is your y/c hair. He can certainly see how Aegon fell for you, though he’s not going to admit it.
“Oh please. What would you know about matters of etiquette being that arrogant, Mr Know-It-All?”
“Little wonder why Aegon broke up with you. This is a title far more appropriate to you, smart ass.”
And there you have it. For another hour and half you and him do not speak.
***
• Everything's in order in a black hole. Nothing seems as pretty as the past, though. That Bloody Mary's lacking a Tabasco. Remember when you used to be a rascal?
To you and Aemond’s dismay, your hotel room is next to his. Which means he’s going to be your room neighbor.
“Your heavy sigh is enough to let your distaste known, thank you very much”, you grumble, trying to avoid that unwelcoming sentiment of being unwanted.
“I did not say a word, barely so I sighed”, Aemond protests. “Goodness me, woman, not everything is about you.”
That being said, he walks impatiently through the door and you do likewise. But destiny is not over with you yet.
*
Aemond wishes you’d dress badly, to the point where your supposed beauty is omitted and he could have a reason to mock you. But his eyes linger at the dark, short dress you wear, noticing your well shaped curves… though stopping himself to lust after you even if your y/c hair is loose in cascade and your make up highlights the color of your eyes.
“Do I look weird?”, you ask, forgetting to disguise your broken pride.
“No, not at all”, Aemond answers you, surprised by what he is inquired. “Why’d you think so?”
“Because you are staring.”
Tonight, your former brother-in-law is looking rather attractive to you. He had got ridden of his long hair, having it cut short; he is wearing a nice polo white shirt and jeans that make him look fancy.
And you could not help yourself a surprising naughty thought at what would be like to ride him.
A thought you promptly dismiss, of course.
“Am I?”, he clears his throat. “Sorry about that, didn’t mean to. You are actually…”
Before he can say “beautiful”, to your disappointment he’s distracted by the presence of Aemond’s nephews. Jacaerys and Lucerys Velaryon, brothers of the bride.
“Nice to see you, Aemond”, so greets Jacaerys, and you swear you detect some irony behind his gallant words.
“The same, nephew. Looking strong I see”, Aemond smirks, wiping out the smug of the other’s face.
“I think”, you decide to intrude before this could end unwell for both parties, “that you should follow me in pursuing wine, Aemond. Good evening boys.”
As you lead the way out of trouble, Aemond raises his eyebrows at you.
“Really now, Y/N?”
“Yup. Aegon may be a rascal, but you have no reason to be either.”
Easily convinced by you, he pours some wine in his glass before taking a distant seat at the restaurant. Aegon is busy entertaining guests, and it’s when you spot Alicent arm-in-arm with a dark haired woman.
“That is her girlfriend”, you hear Aemond say when seeing where your curious eyes are wandering to. “My mother’s a lesbian. She had a huge crush on her stepdaughter and former childhood friend, Rhaenyra, my sister. But they never made it because Rhaenyra likes men.”
“Oh”, you blink. “I didn’t know that.”
“Aegon didn’t tell you the gossips of the family?”, Aemond muses sarcastically, placing a hand on his heart, feigning to be offended.
“I’m afraid he was too busy partying”, you say rather uncomfortable, taking the wine to your lips as you savor the sour taste of it. “This wine isn’t Dornish.”
“It’s not”, he agrees.
• Oh the boy's a slag. The best you ever had is just a memory and those dreams weren't as daft as they seem, my love when you dream them up.…..
Again silence hangs in between the two of you before Aemond gives you a look, studying you for a moment.
“He wasn’t a good boyfriend to you, was he?”, so he inquires after a while.
“No, he wasn’t. But I give him credit for trying.”
Aemond chuckles quietly.
“Kudos for doing the least.”
You smile at him. Perhaps Aemond isn’t as dull nor arrogant as you formerly judged.
“It appears I must engage in socially acceptable behavior”, says Aemond then. “To greet my brother and new sister-in-law and repeat expected speeches.”
“Expected only because you correspond to these expectations”, you nudge his sides.
“And do I have another choice on the matter?”, he scoffs.
“No one forced you to come, so don’t get at me for it.”
Somehow it surprises you both that these teasings do not end up in a clash of words. Aemond actually chuckles before conceding reason to you.
“That is very true. But I am a dutiful man, Y/N.”
Saying so, he moves away to greet his brother at last. You watch him go, already missing his company and the warmth of his presence.
The funny part about all of this is that, when looking at Aegon, you don’t actually miss him. And when looking at his bride, you feel rather oddly comfortable in getting at them to congratulate for the merry occasion.
Past is past, after all, and the aching of this ugly truth doesn’t seem to ache any longer.
***
• Flicking through a little book of sex tips, remember when the boys were all electric? Now when she's told she's gonna get it, I'm guessing that she'd rather just forget it. Clinging 'til I'm getting sentimental, said she wasn't going but she went still likes her gentlemen to not be gentle…
Aemond watches as you meet your former boyfriend with his now bride-to-be. Judging by your face and your body language, all goes well. However, there is still that expected discomfort as you greet them.
So attentive is he that he doesn’t see Helaena coming. She leans by his side, amused by what is going on right under her nose.
“She said she wasn’t going, but she went still.”
Aemond turns his eyes to his favourite sibling.
“How’d you know that?”
“We remained friends, Aem. Y/N is a really good person, Egg didn’t deserve her.”
“When does he deserve any relationship he’s in?”, Aemond snorts, partly playful, partly meaningful.
Helaena smirks.
“Don’t be mean, Aem. They look genuinely happy now, which is good. I never thought I’d see him settling down one day.”
Her brother doesn’t answer, eyes still glued in the odd trio. Miss Rhaella is very comfortable in her shoes. But of course she is, she has captured his heart. At what cost, though?
“How come they broke up?”
Helaena scoffs at him.
“Oh please. Don’t tell me you don’t know the reason why they are not together for some years.” And then she adds, after poking his sides. “Do I detect an interest in you, Aemond Targaryen?”
“Laena, darling. Often the wise in our family, don’t play the dumb now.” Aemond rolls his eyes. “I could never nurture any interest of the kind in my brother’s ex. Y/N is particularly irritating.”
And that is the last part you hear.
***
He doesn’t know why, but this prince who takes pride in never falling in love with anyone, nor ever chasing after a woman, is going after you.
You too cannot conceive the reason his words hurt you, but it takes little to comprehend that you’ve been vulnerable with this odd circumstance you spontaneously dragged yourself into.
“Y/N”, he holds you by your elbow, forcing you to look at him. “Didn’t mean to say what I said.”
You shrug your shoulders off.
“In the end you have a point, though. What kind of ex goes willingly to a wedding where she was only invited out of politeness? Besides, have you seen the embarrassed look in your mother’s face? She wasn’t expecting me there”, you scoff.
Aemond smiles at you, and you don’t like how it makes you feel—as if there’s hope in the horizon.
“I don’t think this is the case. She was probably expecting a scene. Not from you, of course, but most likely that Rhaella would be unnecessarily loud. Or even Aegon. Who knows? But definitely not you.”
That being said, walls are knocked down. It all settles for now.
“Well, you know what? I think I need some wine.”
“I take it”, so says Aemond. “It’s been a while.”
“Indeed it has”.
And you smile at each other.
***
The next day both of you are found in the same bed, except nothing really happened in the night before. You realize how nice it was to just cuddle him, that his scent was much fitter to yours… than Aegon’s. Such thought embarrasses you when you get back at your senses.
You panic internally and try to disassociate of his arms, albeit unwillingly. It’s when he opens his eyes.
Aemond too is shocked when promptly observing how one got tangled with the other… without necessarily having the need of taking each other’s clothes off. This perception sort of annoys him, though.
“Where do you think you’re going?”, he asks in a voice that gives you shivers. “It’s fucking early.”
“I best find my way back to my room”, you say, hoping not to sound too awkward.
“Mm”, but of course he cannot take it for himself. “Last night was good, wasn’t it?”
“It was”, you give him a soft smile, but something about your eyes makes Aemond smile at himself. “I just don’t think prudent if we are caught. People can talk.”
“Let them talk”, he gently pulls you back and you effortlessly fall into his arms again. “I think we could go for a horseback riding today before lunch.”
You smile at yourself. Aemond spots it and he smiles too.
“We could. Though I’m afraid I don’t do horseback riding.”
“I could teach you.”
“Do I detect malice in your speech, Aemond Targaryen?”
For the first time in many moons, this bad boy is genuinely brought to laughters.
“It really didn’t occur me at all, but if you’re up to it…”
You punch his arm playfully. But for a while you two just stay like this, lying in bed, sharing laughters as if you have been the best of friends.
***
“I hate how I feel like an adolescent again. I thought I’ve done this already. Countless times”, you remark.
It’s nine in the morning and you two are dressed like going to a picnic, not a fancy breakfast to celebrate the union of the families Targaryen & Velaryon. Maybe it’s not of either interest to participate it. Besides, the landscape is far more inviting than dealing with posh relatives.
The hotel is surrounded by nature. Large trees are spotted above a green hill, surrounded by lakes and some wild animals that every now and then stop by. Not far from it, is this large, crimson white house rent by the Targaryens to celebrate the marriage of Aegon and Rhaella. The said event will happen only the next day since the couple are very fond of celebration.
Uninterested in these endless festivities, you and Aemond are heading to the top of the hill carrying with nothing other than wine and bread, perhaps some fruits too.
"And here we are", says Aemond, surprisingly in a good mood.
You two sit on the grass and its your former brother-in-law who opens the wine bottle. You two share it as it is, with no need to use glasses for the purpose of savouring the red, warm liquid.
"It is a shame we haven't been acquainted properly", you muse after a while. From where you two are, you could still spot Mrs Hightower and her lover receiving the guests alongside Mrs Velaryon, who, you seem to notice, is accompanied by a dark, curled haired man who doesn't strike you as Mr Velaryon.
"Eh, I was a little busy when you were with my brother", and when following your curious gaze, Aemond smirks and adds: "That is Mr. Strong, by the way."
"Busy? With whom?", you tilt your head, eyes now locked with his purple ones. "I feel as if I'm missing something here."
Aemond cackles before lying on the grass. As he's on his elbows, you hate how your eyes scan his frame, taking notice of his body, his part-opened legs under an old pair of jeans and a random comfortable shirt that shows some of his well build muscles.
Fuck.
You lean to grasp a few grapes before suddenly finding interest in the cloudless skies.
"Well, that is Harwin Strong", says Aemond, ignoring the first part of the question you asked him. "He is my sister's lover."
"Oh."
"Oh, indeed. Where were you when our family messed up?"
"I have no idea, maybe we were busy breaking up", you shrug your shoulders.
Now you miss the long gaze Aemond casts at you. He notices your shapely legs, well reinforced by your blue velvet shorts. A mischievous thought occurs him at the thought of removing these shorts. Containing a sigh, but not holding back such sinful thoughts, he notices you have nice, firm breasts just by the stare he gives your blouse.
Desire seems unbearable. Useless to fight against, but he stops the urge. He must. For his sake.
"You deserve someone better."
And your gaze meets his.
"My brother was unworthy of you", and he, a careful, wayward man, is drawn to you.
You, likewise, are inclined to get closer to him. Is it too early to get drunk and do things you might regret? Where is conscience when you need it?
"And who is worthy of me? You?"
Aemond side smirks at you. You two are so close to bound in deeper waters.... when someone else comes in to ruin all, of course.
It's Alys Rivers, his ex-girlfriend.
***
•You’re falling about. You took a left off Last Laugh Lane. You were just sounding it out. No you're not coming back again.
You are quick to leave the scene. Tired to be someone else’s sidekick character, you know it’s the time to part and be the protagonist of your own.
It’s been too much humiliation. First to put a closure with a man who is marrying someone else. Second… to be able to fall for his brother in a matter of, what, a day and HALF?
You realize no one is missing you anyway. So you are leaving before ceremony even begins.
As for Aemond, it’s all going worse than planned. He wishes you’d have more time to spend together. But, in honesty, he doesn’t blame you for parting like this.
He never mentioned that he and Alys were not entirely… what word could capitalize it? Untogether? Does this word even exist?
Regardless. He’s taken by a strange urge of going after you.
“…you’re not even listening to me!”, the protestations of his now ex girlfriend are annoying him.
“Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn”, he responds rather coolly. “You’ve left me in balance for a while and now you think you can take me back? I don’t think so. Farewell, darling Alys.”
Saying so, he’s not wasting his time. These are crazy days, one might judge, where long relationships end unexpectedly and short ones may begin out of the blue.
Or perhaps not so out of the blue…
***
You are about to get in the cab when Aemond gets to you.
“Hey”, and once again he holds your wrist, thus making you looking at him. “Don’t go.”
“I can’t stay here”, you sigh dramatically. “You have unfinished business with Alys. I mean, been there, done that. Not really in the mood to rerun this movie.”
“No, this is untrue. Fuck, you are the most interesting girl I’ve met and look at me playing the fool here. Always the indecisive and vindictive, I want something new.”
Aemond doesn’t know where this urge comes from, but, unlike his brother, he is not willingly to let go of you so easily.
“And when this new goes away”, you counter argue him. “What then?”
“I am not leaving you. I am not Aegon”, he says rather anxiously. “Allow me to get to know you better, Y/N. We are going through this shit together.”
You tilt your head, but as if to shush any remaining doubts, like the adolescent he never was, Aemond pulls you against him and finally kisses your red lips.
***
It’s the wedding day. You are elegantly dressed in a pink gown that reinforces your curves and shows some collarbone. Your y/c hair is tied in a braid Helaena’d done it and you are wearing a pair of emeralds over your skin.
But you lose your breath when you see him, elegantly dressed in a black suit with a green tie. His hair purposely messed, he’s every inch the sobriquet he proudly wears.
Bad boy prince.
When his gaze meets yours, both of you know this day will be no good to either of you.
“Ready to be my partner?”
When your hands intertwine with his, so is your destiny for once and all locked with Aemond’s. One smile, one kiss. And what is meant to be a funeral is turned into something more beautiful for this unexpected couple.

House of the Dragon, Ep. 2x08 – The Queen Who Ever Was (Spoilers)
Last episode of the season.  Can’t wait to see how they stall the war even further next year. Two years. Whatever.  This will be short post.
Rhaena roughs it for a few days and I guess this is enough to make her worthy of a wild dragon?  (You know she’s going to be its rider).
Adym basically tells Vaemond to go to hell. (Not that I blame him).
Tywin Lannister goes to make a treaty to get more ships.  He has to impress the captain who’s a woman.  This is going to lead to them fucking right?  Whoops, no.  She wants him to fuck her wives so they can get pregnant.  Got to admit, I wasn’t expecting that one. Kind of found it funny too.
The dragon riders adjust to their new roles.  Some…do it better than others.
There’s a moment with Sir Bitch that I think was created in order to make his character sympathetic?  It does not make his character sympathetic.
Lyrs convinces Aegon he needs to flee for now and return after the war.  Lyrs keeps pressing the point that Aemond will have Aegon killed.  Funny story….
Aemond is pissed about the new Dragon Riders and goes and burns a town.  He then decides that Helena needs to join the battle on her dragon.  Alicent will not hear of it.  Later, Aemond tries again to get Helena to join, but she lets him know…a lot of things actually.  But the most important is that she knows what he did to Aegon and how Aemond will die.
It turns out that the whole haunting of Daemon was to prepare him to see the truth about the Song of Ice and Fire.  Daemon understands now that they are a small part of a bigger story and that his part is to get Rhaenyra on the throne.  But we also see that Helena also knows this story through her visions.
But the biggest moment of the episode is when Alicent, who’s just done with everything, sneaks out of King’s Land and to Rhaenyra’s Keep (I just…one competent assassin.  Just one and this whole war ends).  Basically, Alicent just tired of all the whole former Queenie, ruley thing and just wants to disappear somewhere.  She even says that when Aemond goes off to fight (as the armies are finally converging), Helena will be left in charge and Alicent will make her order the guards to surrender to Rhaenyra.  Rhaenyra can become Queen, everyone will stop fighting, and Alicent can take Halena and Aegon and go live somewhere else.  Rhaenyra somehow has the strength and fortitude not to slap the shit out of Alicent in this moment.
What Rhaenyra does do is bluntly point out what I mentioned a few posts ago; there are men who don’t want a Queen on the throne and, so long as Aegon lives, there will not be peace.  Rhaenyra must have Aegon killed, and it must be public.  This will always end in bloodshed.  So, the question is will Alicent agree to also turn over Aegon?  And damned if the woman doesn’t agree.  Here’s the thing; I might be sympathetic toward Alicent if I felt that she was doing this more for the people…I mean, I’m not going to say that the people’s suffering isn’t part of the reason she’s doing this…it’s just that their suffering wasn’t enough to make her do what was necessary to end the war she created; it’s only when she wanted to no longer deal with things…
Wonder what’s going to happen when she finds out Aegon escaped with Lyrs.

House of The Dragon, Season 2, Episode 2 "Rhaenyra the Cruel"
Just clarifying, these are my own thoughts, you don't like them, don't bother telling me so. Also, I'm not a book purist, I like adaptions taking putting their own spin on things - if it makes sense to do so. So, here were my thoughts. Obvs, this post is dark and full of spoilers.
OK, but where is the panic here? The most important kid in Westeros just got his literal head chopped off in one of the most secure cities in the world with Vhagar on watch and other than his dad, mom and a few servants, everybody is just "yeah that happened".
I would have loved a scene of them telling Aegon about Jaehaerys. Like a build up. It feels like there's something missing.
Aegon smashing up Vizzy T's legos is valid because it's him having revenge on the man at the centre of the conflict that killed his son.
Why Aemond looking around his room like he thinks somebody was looking at his porn collection?
Give us Alicent's rage. Why isn't she angry? Why is Jaehaerys "the child"? Alicent's line about Helaena? Where's the rage?
Why is there all this speculation of who ordered this? It's obvious.
Tyland, you fucking bell end.
Aegon drag Cole, fucking drag him.
Aegon's got the rage. Where's the tag off of everyone else?
Ironrod, they could never make me hate you
The Aegon and Otto vibe is giving me Tywin and Joffrey.
Otto, that boy just lost his kid, why are you saying this shit
Alicent's human moment at the suggestion at the funeral, glancing at Aegon. She knows it's wrong
The Dragon pit? Which is a ruin after Meleys?
Jaehaerys is your Great-grandson, Otto. And yes, I'll say you aren't grieving.
Aegon looking to Alicent to make it stop and her not doing it.
Alicent? You just said this is a good idea, convinced Aegon and then go on and call it a spectacle? The hypocrisy?
Helaena. Phia, you broke my heart.
Alicent, they cut off that girl's child's head and you're worried about your hookup becoming public??? Priorities?
The costumes for the funeral, absolutely gorgeous. The little crown for Jaehaerys, we need more crowns.
The whole Blood spills everything when he sees the tools is funny but also let's us know that Larys has a reputation.
Helaena's hair is gorgeous.
Alicent stop touching Helaena, she doesn't fucking like it, she doesn't want to be there.
Aegon killing Blood *chef kiss* but that scene too short
I actually thought the wagon would knock Jaehaerys off at one point.
Phia Saban is a fucking star because I got so uncomfortable with her during that scene.
Rhaenyra upset for Helaena but also her quick thinking about protecting the island.
Also fuck that one guy on her council. Fuck you Alfred.
Also slay Rhaenys.
Book accurate Rhaenyra not letting Jace out.
Jace, your brother is dead, your mother is at war and your cousin just died, and you're serving face?
I'm sorry but that look Rhaenyra gives Daemon, the lil head fuck when she realises, it's so familial that you literally can't forget they're related. I've given that same look my siblings a hundred times
Daemon, that's not the right expression to have there. You didn't forget to take out the rubbish, you killed a kid
Rhaenyra, what's with the "it"?
This scene between Daemon and Rhaenyra, you can see while they love one another they can't trust one another. But I think Daemon told her the truth, he didn't really want the throne himself.
Why did they turn Daemon into a wife beater? Why? This is the man who gave us "I want Rhaenyra" and the hand thing, why does he have to come at her like that?
Rhaenyra, you fucking remind him of Visenya. You remind him how he left you alone.
Harrenhal. Daemon has been planning this war for so long that he's just desperate to see it all done.
Daemon's jealousy of Rhaenyra and Viserys.
Baela, I fucking love you. She was ready to chase after Daemon with Moondancer after seeing the room.
The costumes are really getting good.
CARAXES, MY BOI
Am I the only one who thinks the armour got worse? It's all bulky now
The Helaena and Aegon scene. You can see both of them have so much to say but neither are able to say it aloud.
Fuck you Cole, that's right you look at your mistake.
I thought that one servant was Pod.
Rhaenyra playing with Viserys and Aegon. Oh they're so sweet.
Rhaenyra is serving ✨face✨
"have you told anyone?" Alicent he'd fucking be executed? Sent to the Wall?
Cole leave that Cargyll alone. You're the one who literally fucked the Queen and had her put it back on you. You're the one who defiled the cloak. Your purity? You fucking whore.
Headbutt him Cargyll.
Cargyll asking the real fucking questions here.
I love how all the kingsguard just left because well, they remember Joffrey Lonmouth.
Criston Cole fall down a privy already.
I miss Ser Barristan.
Cole needs a headbutt.
Baela and Jace, serving cunt together, we could of had it all.
Jace, Daddy Harwin, Ser Harwin loved you. Why question it?
Just "I miss luke", there's a scene missing there.
Aemond at the brothel... That boy was abused by that woman, why would they do that to him? Also, why the fuck would he tell her about Luke?
The FUCK are you allowed to call him Luke.
Oh, they teased you? They teased you you school shooter vibes momma's boy?
Why is Hugh Hammer getting a storyline? I don't care about him? Where is Nettles? WHY COULDN'T WE HAVE NETTLES?
Yeah his wife and kid will die.
OK, but why are Alyn and Adam giving off that one Tiktok about eating at Olive Garden?
Corlys with the whole "I'm not a king", girl it was 20 years ago. Also, dom!Rhaenys. He gets pegged.
"I'm here, Meleys is here." DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ME
Rhaenyra and her book about Visenya.
Mysaria and Rhaenyra? It's not giving me anything. It feels out of place. But good on Mysaria for fixing the accent.
Seasmoke 😭
Hanging the ratcatchers is fair enough. Now, give us the Red Keep cats pls.
The dog 😭
Otto why are you more upset over PR?
Also WHY IS OTTO SERVING CUNT? WHY? WHAT IS HAPPENING?
That look he gives when he asks "and what... Has cole done?" it's so dad core
Otto's hard on for Viserys? No, girl.
Aegon vs Otto yesss
Aegon "my new hand is a steel fist", Aegon he hast done thy mother
Please tell me Mysaria is going to stay and cause trouble, give us that at least.
The Erryk walking up to the door and giving out to the guards, it's one of my favourite tropes.
I love the whole swapping of the twins. But I would have made it more confusing.
ELINDA MY QUEEN
Rhaenyra walking away when Elinda is doing her hair, why does it remind me of a pint getting it's hair brushed.
Also Rhaenyra's pillows low key look hard.
Erryk giving commands to the Lord Commander? The fuck?
Elinda, get in there girl, throw something
Rhaenyra, the door is literally just there. Just there.
The Cargylls scene is top notch. A Roman death.
I miss Mushroom.
We're getting Daeron and Tessarion.
Leave the Tyrells out of this.
Alicent, comfort your son, that's your boy, he needs you.
No, but go fuck Cole I suppose. That worked out fine the last time.
Is every episode going to end with Alicent getting railed?
Rating: 8/10.

The moment he waited for his entire life is not worth it.
The reality is never like the fantasy, and the feeling of vindication he imagined he’d have is not there.
His mother had once promised him he would have vengeance because the gods were just.
Vengeance is not justice, boy, his father had said when he lost his own eye soon after that.
Your mother wanted an eye and now she has got it, he had said as Aemond read to him because Helaena hadn’t been able to go that morning.
In the moment he is given the time to process and think of how to refuse it without looking like a coward, his mother accepts the eyes because that had never been about him.
It was about her losing to Rhaenyra, her war with his sister had been more important than seeking a better resolution or staying with him while the maester sewed the wound shut.
It was never about him even if he had been the one to lose his eye.
It was always about her, about her suffering and why she deserved to revenge herself.
Only now, he has come to see it.
Only now when she celebrates the deaths of this nephews and says ‘Tis only bastard blood shed at war.’
He can’t even look at his mother now, had she always been like this or did making Aegon king turn her into whatever this was?
Aemma cannot even look at him for the rest of the feast.
Aemma had then locked her door, but it was a comfort to know she wouldn’t be alone as she had Baela with her.
He had tried to apologize, to tell her that he didn’t want Luke’s eyes because his fucking father was right, vengeance wasn’t justice.
Not when it hurts those you love most, not when it comes without honor nor justification.
Luke had surrendered, he was supposed to live. For fuck’s sake he was only a few moons younger than Daeron, he was barely old enough to squire.
He never wanted him dead, maybe hurt and possibly maimed like he was, but Aemond never wanted to kill him.
Kinslaying is a great sin, as much as he hated the little shit, he had no intentions of killing him.
But Luke was dead, so was Jace, so was Rhaenyra and Rhaenys and father and grandfather.
All dead because of them.
Because of her.
Mother wanted Aegon king because she told them it was the only way. Because her father told her so and she believed his lies, just as he once believed her that he needed Luke’s eyes to find closure.
He never needed the eyes, just as they never needed the crown.
What fucking fools they are.
Tumblr media
After it is done, Daeron takes the blame.
It was his sons’ ashes the Lysene pissed on, he had the right to take his life.
Just as he had a legal right to take it for killing Jace and Luke and all those he killed during the sacking of Spicetown.
No one saw what happened, the maid hadn’t cared enough to turn back and look and by the time the guards had come all four of them were red with the man’s blood.
It won’t bring her brothers back, but it had given her a chance grieve, to avenge her brothers in a primal way.
“I am sorry for your loss, my hatred for your brothers doesn’t excuse the barbarity they suffered and I am sorry if I gave you any reason to believe I am of the same mind as my mother and brother.” Aemond apologized from behind her screen while she bathed behind it still covered in blood, because it was damn difficult thing to get rid off.
Gods, no wonder Daemon and father would just hack off their hair when it happened.
He has not seen her, not seen her covered in a man’s blood and guts and feeling alive after knowing vengeance.
“Thank you. And thank you for refusing his eyes, I know you felt you needed them to get closure.” Just like I needed to kill Lohar to get it as well. “If he hadn’t been my brother, I wouldn’t have stopped you.”
Because that was the thing, it was wrong because they had been her brothers.
If it had been anyone not related to her, she would have not been bothered much. She would feel terrible, but get over it soon enough. But the gods hate her, and now he apologized because he thinks killing for revenge is something she wouldn’t do even if she has done twice.
“Aemma, that is unlike you.” He says concerned. “What has Jena been filling your head with?”
“Not Jena, me.” The young queen said as he as crossed the screen and saw her.
His eye on instinct roams her to see if there is an injury or even a sign as to why she is washing blood off herself.
“Before you ask, it was Lohar and no, he didn’t hurt me.”
Tumblr media
“As their next of kin, they were entitled to a duel, or a trial by combat.” Wylde points out as the Small Council dealt with the fall out. “There are several laws about this, even ones saying the royal family doesn’t need to provide justification for their killings.”
This he said reminding them the Lord Commander had killed Beesbury with impunity thanks to those laws.
As time passed it seemed their council had switched their cloaks for black ones. Didn’t matter they swore blood oaths to the queen that night they burned all copies of the king’s will and made Aegon king.
“The Queen and the princess had no weapons, Lady Baela and Lord Daeron were the only ones with blades.
“The Triarchy won’t like this.” Lannister pursed his lips as he weighed the consequences this would have for them.
“Lohar destroyed the Myrish and Volantine fleets along with their seasoned commanders. If we keep to the story, they may even reward us.” Celtigar argued because it was his nephew who had taken the blame for it.
Criston had been the one sent for when the guards felt brave enough to seek help.
It had been like seeing Rhaenyra kill that boar long ago.
A shock certainly, but one that impressed him.
Three young ladies with ashen hair looking at proud of their violence while Daeron Velaryon stood there and took all the blame despite the young queen still holding the brick, Baela having taken Lohar’s eyes as a trophy and Princess Helaena speaking in riddles.
Those without honor do not get honorable deaths, she had said staring straight at him as if she knew how he would die.
“We should wait for the Prince Regent, he must approve any course of action we may take.” The maester reminded them and Criston agreed.
Everyone had something to say, even Septon Eustace had been brought by the queen to see if they could get anything to blame it all on Baela Targaryen.
But the Septon had not budged, saying Lady Baela had acted on righteous rage.
After all septs and many holy men and women were brutalized, who was to say the gods didn’t use the young princess to avenge the faithful?
“You may have to pry him off the queen’s side, he is far too close to her to rule against her.” Larys Strong spoke from his usual chair. “Some would say his attachment to Queen Aemma is comparable to that of my late brother and her late mother.”
“Yes, it is worrisome. Perhaps his departure may quiet those rumors. To have the queen slandered for her friendship with her uncle and goodbrother would invite trouble.” The Septon agreed and yet lied as good as a sinner. “They were childhood companions and as close as if they were brother and sister.”
“Targaryens wed brothers to sisters, your holiness.” Tyland remarked in warning.
Eustace had conjured rumors about the chastity of his niece to aid Aemond in his desire to postpone such a match, Lannister has not forgotten.
Criston will be glad to be out of this fucking room, he is not a statesman, he is a warrior. Let these perfumed lords fight with words and he die with sword in hand as a warrior should.
The Prince came as if he had been summoned.
They all know where he was, who he was with and just like Harwin and Rhaenyra, no one dares to say it to his face.
Except his mother.
“Some regent you are, your brother’s guest is butchered by the conniving little snake and Daemon’s spawn and you are nowhere to be found.” his mother finally speaks and only to him.
Many had been disquieted by her taking the bastard boys eyes as gifts and encouraging king Aegon to celebrate the death of his goodbrothers.
The good and gentle queen had left and stayed in Oldtown it seemed.
None seemed to recognize who she was, especially him.
Criston blames it on the rivers woman.
“Lohar had no honor, why waste any breath on him?” The prince shrugged and set down for business. “Besides, his sacking of High Tide was something to condemn. If the Triarchy has a complaint they are welcome to bring it up to Vhagar when we return from campaign.”
“She made you soft.” The queen who once asked for mercy for her enemies said with disgust.

House of the Dragon, Ep. 2x03 – The Burning Mill (Spoilers)
Correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t this show supposed to be about a great war?  When’s the coming up?  And with who?  Not with these idiots.  Not with these so-called plans.
In fact, things have gotten so bad that the smaller houses have just decided "fuck it, we’ll start the war ourselves."  You could have at least shown part of the battle.
Sir Chirstian, now the King’s Hand, shows that there’s no way on Earth he should ever have gotten that title.  Sir Bitch, as he will now be referred to, decides that he’s going to take Harrenhal with the few men that he has at the moment.  After all, all the have to do is force loyalty from all the smaller houses on the way (well, the ones that aren’t already for the King).  This is a stupid plan, done by stupid men.  At least, Alicent’s brother has just so happened to show up and goes with Sir Bitch, to keep an eye on him for Alicent.
Aegon is not happy he’s not going with them.  He tries to sneak after them, but is stopped by Layrs Strong who uses (probably false) rumors to make him stay.  Strong is made the Master of Whispers.  Aegon goes on a pub crawl.
Aemond is also unhappy he will not go fight.  He is more practical about it and shows that he’s the one person of intelligence involved in all of this (not counting Alicent).  We also see his dick.  Wheee.
Daemon has gone to Harrenhal and has taken over.  Not that it was a challenge.  The place is falling apart, there are maybe eight people living there, and the Lord at Harrenhal hates Lord Strong.  I honestly think he would give Daemon the proverbial keys and take his family on a long vacation if that wouldn’t be seen as treason.  It’s also clear that Daemon sees a far grander role for himself than just consort.  He also starts to have strange visions.  Are they prophecies or is he just going mad?
Baela had a chance to rid the world of Sir Bitch; but does not.  Baela is currently on my shit list.
Rhaenys and Vaemond prove, again, they are the best characters on the series.
Rhaenyra and Rhaenys have a chat.  Rhaenys suggests that maybe there’s a way to avoid war if Rhaenyra and Alicent were to chat.  It is a naïve belief, but I think Rhaenys is just done with this shit and is trying everything to figure out a way to end it.  Rhaenyra sends the younger children away, as well as Baela’s sister, for their protection.  Rhaenyra’s council suggests Rhaenyra hide as well…and that would help her cause how?
Rhaenyra decides to let the White Worm stay at the stronghold.  She also decides that it might be best that she and Alicent talk and asks the White Worm how she might go about and do this.  And…sigh.  Last episode, we had a twin sneak in pretending to be his twin.  This episode, Rhaenyra sneaks into King’s Landing dressed as a Nun in order to talk to Alicent at the Sept.  I know this show is produced by WB, that doesn’t mean the battle plans need to come from Loony Toons.
Anyway, the two meet and we finally have something that really advances the plot.  The two of them discuss what happened the night of the King’s death.  Long story short, Rhaenyra figures out that Alicent thought the King was talking about her son Aegon because she didn’t know about “Fire and Ice.”  Meanwhile, Alicent realizes that she did misunderstand what the King was talking about.  However, it’s kind of too late.  Even if she were to recant, who would believe her?  And what would happen to her family?  Rhaenyra might say she’ll be merciful, but there will always be those who believe Aegon is the true king.  He would have to be killed, as well as his heirs.  Really, the only thing she can do it continue saying that the King chose Aegon.
Anyway, it looks like the actual war starts next episode.  Perhaps I’ll start to find the show more interesting.
