Next 10 years…
I’ve been thinking a lot about where I am in life and where I want to go. At 27, I have a solid 7 to 8.5 years ahead of me to really build and shape the life I’ve always dreamed of. When I think about the next few years, I feel so much excitement and possibility. I’ve laid out a clear plan, and it feels like I’m right where I need to be.
From ages 25 to 34, I’m going to live in England. By the time I’m 34, I will have spent 55.56% of my entire young adult life in this country, which is exactly what I wanted. I came here at 25, and it feels perfect to spend almost 10 years of my young adult life here—experiencing everything I wanted to experience about British culture, life, and adventure. During my young adult life, I’ll have traveled extensively in England—exploring places like the Cotswolds, Oxford, Cambridge, and York, just like I’ve always dreamed. I’ll have lived in York, immersed myself in its history, and discovered the depths and corners of this country that have fascinated me for years. England will truly be my home base for these 9 years, and I’ll be able to look back with pride at everything I’ve seen and done here.
But it’s not just about England. I’m going to take full advantage of my time here by traveling all over Europe as well. Over these next 7 years (from 27 to 34), I’ll have visited places like Italy, Greece, France, Spain, Austria, and so many other incredible destinations. I’ll have checked off my dream travel list, and I’ll also explore countries I’ve always wanted to experience, like Korea, Japan, Egypt, Jordan, Peru, and the United States. It’s going to be a whirlwind of travel, with each new destination adding to my sense of wonder and discovery. I also can’t forget about revisiting Thailand and the Philippines, Vietnam, and other places that I love. I’ll be going on annual trips, immersing myself in these cultures, making memories, and letting the world expand my horizons.
The plan is clear: by the time I reach 34 and get my British passport, I’ll be ready for my next step—moving back to Sri Lanka. With my living costs there significantly lower, I’ll be able to save even faster, while enjoying a much higher standard of life. By then, I’ll have at least £80,000 saved, which will set me up perfectly for this new chapter. The key to this plan is my work-from-home job, which will allow me to continue earning a solid income while living in Sri Lanka. Not only will I be able to build my savings even more rapidly, but I’ll also have the flexibility to travel, spend quality time with my mother, and truly embrace the freedom that comes with working remotely. The British passport will give me the ultimate flexibility—whether I decide to stay in Sri Lanka or return to England whenever I choose, I’ll have the ability to move freely between both countries, making it the best of both worlds.
I also believe that by this time, Dylan and I will be married. Over the next 7 years in England, we will have built a life together, and I know we’ll have everything we need to make our dreams come true. I picture us getting our cottage, just like I’ve always wanted. Whether we start a family here or not, we will somehow manage to navigate this whole plan of moving back to Sri Lanka. If I’m going, Dylan will come with me, of course. I feel like when we visit Sri Lanka together after we’re married, Dylan is going to fall in love with the country, and he might even want to live there with me. The truth is, he’s so madly in love with me, he can’t live without me. He’ll go wherever I go, and after everything he’s been through, I know that by this point, I’ll be his everything—his only family. His grandparents will be gone, and I will be the one he cherishes above all else. So, yes, if moving to Sri Lanka is part of the plan, I know he’ll go to the ends of the earth for me. We’ll make it work, and we’ll do it together.
Looking ahead, by the time I’m 34, I’ll have checked off everything on my list. I’ll have fully explored England, traveled across Europe, experienced the cultures I’ve dreamed of, and created a financially secure and balanced life. It’s all falling into place, and I’m so excited to see it all come together.

Each plays a distinct role, yet their synergy is what makes modern travel both accessible and unforgettable.
This article delves into the unique roles of these entities, exploring their importance, collaboration, and impact on the global travel industry.

How A Summer Program Can Set Your Child Up For Success In The New School Year
Tumblr media
It goes without saying that every parent or guardian wishes their child to benefit from the very best, including the right support to help them succeed academically. So, what part can our summer student travel programs at The Road Less Traveled (RLT) play in this? Are they essentially just a bit of fun for young participants?
The short answer to that last question is: definitely not!
Of course, we take great pride in our summer student travel programs being tons of fun for everyone involved. But when teens join their peers on our service and adventure programs to various countries around the world, they will also experience personal growth in numerous areas, with this having a positive knock-on effect on their studies.
Some of this growth does happen naturally, but our 30 plus years of experience and program development means our trips are specifically designed to go further than just scratching the surface of this growth. Our program content digs deeper, helping students learn, develop, reflect and understand more. It is part of our core mission to foster growth in all who travel with us, and here are a few examples of what we mean.
A summer program offers learning opportunities that a classroom cannot
Learning in a classroom setting provides a foundation for students to learn about a wide variety of topics. As parents, our aim for school is to set our kids up for success in life, inspire them, and expose them to core subjects, as well as new fields, subjects, ideas, and research that will ignite a passion within them. In addition to classes at school, it also offers teens opportunities to learn more about themselves in social settings and grow as part of the school community.
In this spirit, the RLT experience participants have each summer has many parallels. Although instead of just theoretical learning, we allow students to learn through doing, and get practical life skills that supplement their school experience. A student currently learning Spanish, for example, could test their skills in the most authentic way possible by interacting with native speakers on our Spain: Connect Through Community program or on our Puerto Rico: Reefs To Rainforests program.
Or perhaps your child may be intrigued by our Thailand: Elephants, Education, And Cultural Exploration trip, which could enable them to experience what it’s like being the teacher? On this trip, your 9th - 12th grader could be teaching English in elementary schools in Bangkok. The self-confidence and self-awareness that they gain from this experience is frequently reported to have positive impacts on their own studies when they return home.
A summer program can help your kids make friends and build their social skills
A key factor that can shape a young person’s success in the classroom, and in broader life, is their ability to form and maintain social connections with others. It sounds simple right? But many teens these days struggle with making friends and have social anxiety when it comes to group settings.
Participation in our summer student travel programs allows a young person to develop these skills in safe and supportive environment. They will meet other teens who they would never have otherwise met, and make friendships that potentially last a lifetime. Unlike a school setting, students live, eat, sleep, work and learn together in a tight knit community while on the trip.
This presents both challenges and opportunities for students. It allows them to develop their social skills, and learn from others how being a supportive friend, an empathetic listener, a positive leader, or putting the needs of others before their own can form powerful bonds.
We hear year after year how the social skills teens develop on RLT trips play a vital role in the other communities they are involved with, whether in the classroom, sports team, friend groups, or clubs.
A summer program that ensures your child receives individualized attention
By maintaining a maximum student-to-leader ratio on our trips of 8:1 – this frequently being as low as 4:1 or even 2:1 while working with expert guides – we help ensure your child benefits from close personal attention and assistance. This will help them thrive during their chosen RLT program. Our leaders really get to know each student, spend time with them, learn about them and support them while on the trip. RLT programs are not coach tours or large group activity breaks. We want close knit, small and cohesive groups that allow students to grow and meet other like minded people.
Our program leaders – with an average age of 26 years old – are compassionate, skilled, and committed people, who will encourage your kids to take on new challenges and to develop capabilities they might have never known they had.
In the process, your child will be helped to develop a “growth mindset” that empowers them to give their best once they are back in the classroom.
Are you interested in learning more about our summer student travel programs for 2025 or beyond? If so, pleaseschedule a call with an RLT director so we can chat about your child, your goals, and what our programs are like in more detail.

Travel Advice, Itineraries, And Information For Thailand (2023) || SofiaHotelHuahin
Here, you'll find the top Thailand vacation packages and advice. All of our top Thailand travel advice, tales, and experiences are collected in our blog and travel guide. Not just for families, but also for singles and couples, you'll find trip suggestions here.
Tumblr media
You chose Thailand as the next vacation spot to cover after we already covered Sri Lanka, India, and London tourism. Every year, we return to Thailand to offer new advice, itineraries, essentials, locations, spending suggestions, and reviews of lodging. Thailand is a fantastic location for extended stays, budget trips, or quick getaways. Thailand is our top pick for first-timers who want to travel to Asia.
Don't miss out on our comprehensive Thailand Hotel travel guide, which provides all the advice and details you require before traveling there.
Thailand's travel patterns.
We have visited Thailand more than 20 times, alone, with a partner, and now with children. The kids have visited Thailand at least 20 times, the first time being when they were 4 and 6 years old. We have independently explored the entire nation as long-term backpackers, done more compact upscale vacations, and I have been there on a small-group adventure vacation.
The majority of travel methods are effective in Thailand, regardless of style or affordability. The best tourism destination in Asia is undoubtedly Thailand, which is also the most accessible. We frequently visit since it is one of our favorite nations, not the least of which is to update this professional Thailand travel guide.
Your travel style will obviously influence the costs. It entirely depends on you and where in Thailand you are whether you can live well on less than $50 per day or on much more. A strict minimal standard would be:
The guest house has four beds, good standards, and a price of $26 for a family of four.
a meal, such as pad Thai, that costs between 40 and 50 Baht, or less than $2, when eaten at a table.
Over 30 Baht for lunch at a stall on the street. Of course, expenses increase over time, but if you use common sense and know where to go, you should be able to maintain these low costs in Thailand.
Thailand vacations for families
Thailand is typically very easy to travel with children because it is a well-known holiday destination and because a large portion of the country is contemporary and developed. The Thai people genuinely enjoy children, and whenever we've arrived for dinner, we've had them whisked away to be amused by devoted young women.
Tumblr media
Food is nice, transportation is simple (though roads can be hazardous), and hygienic standards have greatly improved since 20 years ago. This Thailand travel blog has been in the works for a very long time! There is a tonne to see and do and plenty of lodging available at various price points (see below).
In some areas of Thailand, renting a car is now a smart alternative; it's great for families. Despite the risks—such as traffic, dogs, monkies, and spiky coral—we always found Thailand to be an easy and secure destination; otherwise, we wouldn't keep returning. Thailand with Kids, No Worries! is a book we wrote. If you're worried about taking the first steps in a family vacation in Asia.

My life
Financial:
In the coming months and years, I see my life improving in ways I never thought possible. Financial stability will be a huge part of this. I’ll save more than I ever imagined, gaining the freedom to travel, explore, and enjoy life to the fullest.
Travel:
One of the most exciting aspects will be my travel experiences. Before I even think about settling down, I’ll have visited all the countries on my list: Spain, Paris, South Korea, Italy, Jordan, Egypt, Japan, Cambodia, the Philippines, Thailand, Austria, and the Amazon rainforest. These trips will be transformative, deepening my connection with the world and enriching my life in ways I can’t even foresee. In addition, I’ll be able to travel the world with my mother, taking her on the adventures we’ve always dreamed of, creating unforgettable memories together.
Lifestyle:
I’ll also reach major milestones in lifestyle upgrades. By the time I marry and settle down, I’ll own a car, making travel easier and more spontaneous. I’ll live in a cozy, cottage-core-inspired home with all the comforts I’ve dreamed of, like a luxurious bed and aesthetic surroundings. Having my British passport will make travel effortless, allowing me to explore wherever I desire with ease. I will be able to enjoy any restaurant, any hotel.. fly anywhere on a whim whenever I want.
Hobbies:
Along with these lifestyle changes, I’ll focus on my career goals. I see myself working from home, freeing up time to write and publish books that I’m passionate about. This will allow me to dedicate more time to my family, especially my mom, creating cherished moments together.
Career goals:
On the professional front, I will achieve my career goals in the NGO sector, becoming a project manager and eventually starting my own foundation to help single mothers in Sri Lanka. This will be incredibly fulfilling and will allow me to create a lasting impact on the world, adding a sense of purpose to my journey.
Marriage:
My personal life will thrive as I marry Dylan. We’ll build a strong, loving partnership, sharing our dreams and creating a beautiful life together. Our family will be close-knit, and my mother will be living with us, young and healthy as ever, bringing joy and warmth to our home. We’ll share our lives, creating memories, celebrating holidays, and building a future full of love.
Looking ahead, I know my future will be full of financial freedom, adventure, love, and personal fulfillment. As I continue to focus on manifesting the best version of my life, I am certain that the journey will only get better, and I will create the life I’ve always dreamed of.

Thank you so much for the tag @pequenaroo. <3 <3 <3 I appreciate you a lot!! I've read yours and it fascinates me just how cool you are of a person. I am glad to get to know you. <3
Nickname: I am usually called Jin, Rej, Rejin, Ren, Renj, Renji, Rere, Michi, Mich, Din, Den.
Star sign: Cancer
Height: 5'0 💁‍♀️
Time: 11:55 AM
Birthday: June 23
Favorite bands: Kodaline, Sleeping At Last, IV of Spades, Cigarettes After Sex, Coldplay, Eraserheads, Radiohead, Ben&Ben, etc.
Favorite solo artists: Birdy, Hozier, Lana Del Rey, Zild Benitez, Lauren Aquilina, Adele, Ruth B, Kacey Musgraves, James Bay, Moira De La Torre, Aurora, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, etc.
Favorite Foods: Lechon, Adobo, Crispy Pata (so filipino mode XD), takoyaki, sushi and sashimi, fried and steamed siomai, carbonara pizza, anything as long as it's food lol
Favorite colors: Black, golden yellow, pink
Last thing I googled: Steps on how to do the pixie cut hairstyle (done at home).
Last show I watched: Ghost Doctor (Last show I rewatched, Bad and Crazy / currently watching, Dangerous Partners)
Last movie I watched: Once again, I'm stuck with rewatching. Last movies were Atonement, The Merciless, Hwayi: A Monster Boy (yes, rewatching these at the same time is possible).
Lucky number: 4 (no reason)
When did I create this blog? Around September last year (I guess). That was when I was searching for Killer and Healer script/novel translated in English, and since I found excellent reviews instead, I ended up creating this blog 'cause I too wanted to write.
Do I have any other blogs? Yes, unfortunately — I cannot access that anymore because I made that one around 2012 (when I used to be a feral kpop fan) and I was too young and too dumb to even memorize my password. Lmao.
Do I get asks? Yes, sometimes. The first one I got was when I was asked if I'm a human or not (but that idiot is a close friend of mine, lol) and I had to really analyze myself just to know the answer like I always did back in college days while solving accounting problems. Af. It was the hardest ask ever! xD
Why did I choose my URL? Evil (because I want to always be reminded about Beyond Evil) and Moonlight (because the word reminds me of Jiang Yue Lou and Chen Yu Zhi from Killer and Healer).
Blogs you follow: woah, didn't expect it would already reach 290 Tumblrs. (majority of them come from the merciless evil devil from hell megafandom, BL, and minority are the poetry enthusiasts)
Dream trip: I'll start with the local tourist destinations here in the Philippines, apart from my own, another Southeast Asian country would be Thailand (just because I'm always mistaken as Thai, lol) then I would love to travel around some parts of East Asia particularly Japan and Taiwan, and the most interesting part is visiting Europe (UK, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands — Amsterdam (the Anne Frank House), Finland, Greece, and Spain (because one of my best friends is currently living there), actually I want to visit the whole Europe. XD), also Algeria, Morocco, and New York City (at the public library where Ash died peacefully reading Eiji's letter 😭, like I'll be having a Bananafish adventure).
Instruments: used to play guitar, and now I'm starting to learn ukulele, and would love to try the piano in the nearest future.
Average hours of sleep: weekdays would be 6-7 hours, weekends would be no sleeping schedule or if I'm lucky enough, 3-4 hours (I know it's not good for the health but)
How many blankets do you sleep with? One is enough.

Travelling Me
Tumblr media
I love traveling since I was young, one of my favorite things about traveling itself is the planes. As soon as it’s take off for the next adventure, (after running to the gate as usual) it feels like I’m flying through the sky and seeing all those views from my seat window it’s just mind-blowing. I’m from many different places from Sweden and England all the to Kathmandu Nepal. I love visiting family and friends. Those places are my home away from home from Thailand. Maybe, not Nepal though because not having internet and electricity for 12 hours a day is not something I can handle. How would a post all my Instagram stories then?
Thailand is my home. Every time I come back home from all my trips, I always see myself digging into the delicious Thai food that I’ve missed. It gets me every time. There are so many places that I haven't visited yet but I will soon. On top of the list, I have Paris I’ve been dying to go for the past 2 years. All blaming the pandemic. It was going to be this amazing food trip in Paris from the delicious food to the amazing sites for 13th birthday. So hopefully when this thing finally end for the last time I will definitely be on the next flight to Paris.

Updating my 2020 Relationship Status with Nature.
It’s easy to fall in love with all the beautiful and wild places this earth has to offer. But like any relationship – there’s exciting parts and “boring” parts. To me nature is like life, everybody loves new and exciting experiences, but not everybody can truly sit down on Monday morning and appreciate the “same old”. Everybody loves nature, but not everybody truly appreciates all the forms it comes in.
Like most of you I gather, I’ve loved hiking and exploring from a very young age. I think most people have this unexplainable connection to nature. You feel it when your toes are in the sand or some cool grass, or the feeling of fresh air after rainstorms. My absolute favorite feeling is when you get to the end of a hike, or to a lookout spot, and you just kind of sit down and take a deep breath and get this deep sense of joy and appreciation for the natural world. There are very few other experiences where I’ve felt true bliss.
Tumblr media
Pollet’s Cove, Cape Breton, NS. After a 13km hike up and down 3 mountains, seeing this view was truly a “bliss” moment for me. Photo taken by myself.
BUT!! Something has changed – and our dear friend COVID (sarcasm alert) is the reason my relationship with nature has changed. Raise your hand if the worst part about lockdown was not being able to travel and explore as much!! Raise your hand if you had to cancel flights and trips you’ve been looking forward to for months because international travel became restricted!! You can’t see me through your computer screen right now, but if you could you would see both my arms raised because I had to cancel a trip to Nepal, British Columbia, and Thailand this past 2020. It was supposed to be my year of travel and adventure, and every trip/excursion planned would have been about exploring nature and new places. Instead, I had to settle for the local walking trails I had walked a thousand times and my backyard – both unexciting in comparison to Everest Base Camp and Banff National Park.
But I’ve always been a bubbly person who likes to  see the bright side of things – so what did I do? I built flower and vegetable gardens in my backyard, when the weather got warm I took my laptop to work outside, and I went for daily walks. And the funny thing is, I now appreciate my daily walks more than I did before. I pay more attention to the trees along the trails and how they grow all crooked and quirky sometimes to get more light. Nature is everything around us, and I’ve learned to appreciate all of it and not just the wild and unexplored parts of it.

Tumblr media
My boyfriend is an arborist so we discovered a new way to experience nature during our mandatory 14-day isolation in Nova Scotia - climbing the trees in our backyard!
Last but not least – I want to introduce you all to an experience that allowed my to gain a ‘sense of place’ and where I truly felt connected to the beauty of an area and the significance of it’s natural and cultural history. Welcome to the world of tree planting. This summer, and for the past 3 summers, I have spent my time tree planting in Northern Ontario from May until July. Tree planting in my opinion is one of – if not the rawest way to experience nature. You live in a tent in the middle of nowhere, hours away from the nearest town, and you work for 10 hours a day by yourself in the middle of the woods. The first time I saw a clear-cut block, it was quite grim and provoked feelings of sadness and unjust. Looking back, I guess that is when I learned that sense of place does not always have to relate to beautiful places or pristine landscapes. I felt this deep connection like I was part of something bigger to help better our natural environment. You quite literally help rebuild a forest by hand, one tree at a time. I have my crew boss to thank for teaching me that that my daily work would have lasting effects on the environment and health of the forest, and that each tree/piece of land/forest is special and unique. I would recommend it to anyone, and the experience continues to inspire me to work to protect and restore our nature environments.

Fun Activities And Places To Visit In Krabi, Thailand
Tumblr media
youtube
The stunning and unusual Temple for this Dawn may be best viewed from the river. Its distinctive appearance comes to the fact that its walls are covered using a mosaic of broken Chinese porcelain. The beginning you will need to look for discounts is in the free local tourist program authors. These are available in almost each of the popular venues. They not only provide a useful guide to whatever area you are staying with maps and places to see, but also almost always are full of vouchers and special gives you. If https://everyeventgives.com/members/crabfeet88/activity/302138/ want to party inexepensively you will find all the places offering happy hours, or other discounted drinks. You can also find special deals on meals and all the prominent sightseeing opportunities. In places like Pattaya can perform get promotions which shows that you can visit a few of the local attractions for at a more affordable rate as part of a package. Bangkok is really a place for people who care about it busy, don't mind crowds, and need to party for a long time. Bangkok could be the capital, consists of a lot of traffic, but has some yummy your meals. Young college students like to visit Bangkok for the out with this particular world people. This city isn't for people that can't hand crowds, traffic, noise, such like. If you think about booking a transfer around australia it's around $40 dollars Aussie one way, it is therefore much easier and cheaper just to get on the shuttle bus when you arrive. A person have arrive late then a cab is still cheaper than booking a transfer within australia. If an individual more money, you could visit Australia or affectionately known as Down As. You could see Blue Mountains, the legendary 3 sisters which turned into rocks, buy colorful opals or choose from horseback ride on. You can even try the exciting roller coasters that thrill the heart out of yourself. There will be many adventure rides and films to see on a themed place. For the adventurous and exercise buffs, you could hike up Mount Kinabalu in Sabah, Malaysia. It is touted to be able to the highest peak in South East Asia. For your gamblers, the growing system go to Genting Highlands to try their luck besides going for enjoy sleek mountain air with involving negative ions that are ideal for health. I remember traveling for the first time travel to Thailand on the boat to Koh Phi Phi island from Phuket thinking how great it will to share this exposure to students. It reminded me of the feeling Bruce Lee's character will often have felt on his island trip where he was headed to handle some kung-fu fighting inside of film Enter the Dragon. Certainly there needs to be some reason why people made a decision to visit Thailand year after year. Thai's are most beneficial inhabitants of a particular country if at all possible ever see. These people make sure everyone who visits Thailand takes with him a memory for the century.

Alex Garland - The Beach (1996)
A couple blog posts back, I was referring to a list the BBC had written of “The cult books that lost their cool”. Seeing that it, in fact, contained a number of books that I really liked (Jack Kerouac and David Foster Wallace, to name a few), I immediately spiralled into an identity crisis (am I “uncool” according to BBC standards?) that was only relieved by the list then absolving me of the need to pretend to like Hemingway
Tumblr media
its nothing personal bro, the work just does not resonate
Although, side note, I was really sad to hear of his persistent surveillance by the FBI :( but anyways
Back to the list by the BBC. I dunno, after reading it a few times I thought that maybe I should use it as a guide of books that I should read, and so, BBC commentary on its non-hipness notwithstanding (Richard is searching for a truly authentic experience, something that few even pretend to want any longer, preferring instead to enquire about what filter’s been used), I immediately decided to find Alex Garland’s novel, The Beach, at the library and give it a read for myself.
Tumblr media
Here’s where I’d argue the BBC got it a little wrong: the novel is described as “amphetamine-fuelled”, but the strongest drug i recall anyone doing is weed.
Tumblr media
#notevenonce
I do get why people might wanna talk smack about the book, though, because it opens with the typical kind of white privilege scenario of disaffected youth backpacking from island to island, ruining slices of paradise with their mere presence, because their pursuit of cool is then bragged about to their friends, enticing more and more people to visit these formerly untouched places, irrevocably changing the landscape from untouched paradise to tourist trap ... and the cycle continues endlessly, until the whole world becomes some kind of Western-centric holiday park for instagram influencers to travel for free in exchange for promotional portraits
Tumblr media
couscous for comment?
Now i think about it, this theme (running throughout the whole book) may, in fact, be more relevant to our culture now more than ever (although not immediately so much in light of the restrictions on travel mandated by COVID-19).
Synopsis: Young British backpacker named Richard is given a map by a guy at his backpacker hostel who then commits suicide. The map marks out a special place on an island tourists aren't allowed to visit, Richard makes friends with a French couple and they decide to work their way to the forbidden destination... only to get there and find (spoiler) - an independent commune of free spirits who live at one with the land!
Tumblr media
cue bulk imagery that we now relate primarily to microsoft desktop backgrounds
What could go wrong? Without going into too much detail, I see a kind of synergy between the plot and things I’ve heard about in relation to the novel (which I haven't read), Lord of the Flies.
Things go wrong. Disastrously wrong. It all unravels in a kind of car-crash narrative that you cannot look away from.
I read this novel compulsively over one night. It was that much of a page turner. I see people writing phrases on GoodReads like ‘intensely readable’ and I cannot help but agree. If you’re looking for a little slice of island paradise, a little trip to the beaches of Thailand and all the adventure and danger that comes along with it - all while staying COVID-safe in your neighbourhood and maintaining high standards of personal hygiene
Tumblr media
Do urself a favour and grab a copy - this is the book for you!
Tumblr media
there is also a movie
