1850: Night at the Opera (in collaboration with The Royal Thornolia Chronicles)

After my months-long Celtic spree, the time has come to briefly return to my old era of interest...

May I present to you a small 1850s set, made together with amazing Ali, the author of @theroyalthornoliachronicles! We're both so excited to finally share it with you all 💗 Make sure to check Ali's post for her half of the collaboration - practically necessary if you want your mid-Victorian gentlemen to be properly dressed for the evening!

While Ali dealt with the men, I focused - surprise surprise - on the ladies. And made two evening dresses, both inspired by the same fashion plate from ca. 1850:

If you follow Ali's story, you probably remember that a certain mademoiselle Eleanor Valery wore the dress on the right to an opera event. The dress on the left also made a short appearance, as it (or rather: its beta version) was worn by my simself Cecile, who was kindly invited to participate in the evening as well (no, that's not my real name. I just asked my husband to give me a random female French name, and that was the first thing he came up with ;)). And so both dresses are named after those characters: Eleanor and Cecile.

Both come in 29 swatches and I swear all of those colour combos come straight from mid-Victorian fashion plates - even if Ali claimed some of them remind her of 1980s Barbies ;)

You might notice that they vary slightly in style, and that's because I put an insane amount of work into texturing Cecile, as somehow I couldn't get it to look any satisfactory with my usual methods. I love the result, but the whole process was so convoluted that I'm not even sure if I could still retrace all the steps, let alone redo Eleanor in the same style. So we're left with this small discrepancy between both dresses. Hope you don't mind!

Suggestions anyone?

I started uploading my defaults, although I’m not done with all of them. (I started in alphabetical order, so AdultFemale came first.) Right now, I’m working on toddler clothing, (although my teen defaults need some editing as well) and I have only 2 left:

The plant-baby outfit aka pubodyleafy is simple and cute. I’m asking myself, if it even needs a replacement. I would go either with one of jmtmom’s Toddler Plansim Clothes or Cynnix’s Dryads. But the internet is a fast space, so maybe someone saw something particularly cute and plantsim-ish? I also know, that some people play their plantsims as fairies, so maybe I should go that route?

The other one is Baby New Year (Toddler New Year whatever...). I personally thought, that the outfit, that shows up in catalogue is one of Eaxis’ clones and the outfit for the NPC includes the tophat. But it actually is the outfit worn by the NPC. Alright, then the top hat surely is a hidden hairstyle. Nope! After examining the game files, I realised, that It is an accessory. And I have no clue, how one would replace accessories. So, what do we do, when we can’t replace something properly? Right: We turn is invisible. 😋 Here comes a creepy snapshot of a test hood:

That “replacement” worked fine in my test. The top hat is gone. As far as I can tell, Toddler New Year wears the bald hairstyle. Though I haven’t tested yet, whether it is a new clone or the one showing up in catalogue. But what about the clothes? People celebrate new year in the midst of winter, where I live, so we can’t have this poor, somewhat creepy toddler sit on the snowy sidewalk in a diaper. But I have no clue, what would be suited better for a medieval fantasy game. As far as I know, father time’s clothes have only been converted for children, not toddlers. But I guess a kind of robe would work? I also tried my hand on the method cindysimblr showed here. Sadly I couldn’t figure out, how to extract the necessary data for toddler new year. (And if I were to go that route, I would want to replace Father Time as well. Thinking of renewal, makes me think of Mist of Avalon. Y’know the maiden, the mother and  the crone.) Though the same problem persist: I can’t think of a suitable outfit.

I’m uncertain. Any suggestions are welcome. 🙂 (Please keep in mind, that I can do recolours only, because I have no meshing skills.)

PS: I started to read some posts about new year bashes and it seems to be buggy as hell. Maybe I should quit them... (Although I like the concept very much 😕)

Zelda's 1925 Wedding Dress

Happy New Year everyone!

I woke up today and thought that a beginning of a new year is a good moment to finally release this dress, which has been sitting in my WIPs forever. Something new for a change: a wedding gown inspired by a rl one from 1925. It was originally made extra for Zelda Darlington from @aheathen-conceivably's Darlington Legacy, hence the name - and Heathen was so kind to let me release it to public. So here you go!

As always: Base Game compatible, HQ compatible, properly tagged, custom thumbnails, chronological CAS positioning, specular, bump maps etc. Comes in 2 versions: with and without train; you can use both.

Only one swatch this time, sorry! Feel free to recolour.

Warning: compared to my usual pieces this one is extremely high poly. Slightly over 30K (!!!). Or slightly below for the no-train version. The main culprit is this little beauty:

(A little behind the scenes comment: this dress was also me experimenting with so-called 'blender sewing', which is a very different cc-making method than my usual one. Therefore, as you might see, the result also looks different from my usual style. Much more alpha. I absolutely don't hate it, but I guess some people might, whoops).

Community rallying to help family of teens in ICU after boat explosion at Margaritaville on Lake Lanier A GoFundMe fundraising campaign has been launched to help cover the medical expenses for two teenagers who were severely burned when their family’s boat exploded at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands on Sunday. A woman and two teenagers were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after they were injured by the explosion, which also caused a dock fire at the lakeside attraction. Hall County Fire Services Division Chief Zachary Brackett said a boat exploded at about 2:30 p.m. at the gas docks located at Margaritaville’s Port of Indecision on Lake Lanier. Several people were injured by the incident. “Arriving units found a boat fully involved, an associated dock fire due to a jet ski that drifted away from the fire area and six patients to evaluate,” Brackett said. The people who were taken to Grady included a 39-year-old woman as well as well as a 16-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy. The adult female was transported by Hall County Fire Services to Grady, but the two teens were airlifted to the hospital. The other three people who were injured in the incident declined to be transported to the hospital by ambulance, according to Brackett. Brackett said the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire to determine the cause. The fire has been put out, he said. Success! He said they “have a long road ahead,” however. “The oldest daughter suffered the worst of the injuries and will remain sedated a minimum of a week to get her through the worst of the pain,” Dirkse said. “She has been in surgery most of today with skin grafts and scraping the burned tissue. So many people have reached out to help that we decided to set this page up for them. Roman Palla (Zeussim's Desi Gita Redux)

TSR's latest collection prompted me to finally finish a thing which was sitting in my WIPs' folder for months. I'd been hoping to make some more add-ons for it, but let's face it: I lost my steam halfway through, it's not happening, so the best I can do is to release it as is. Still pretty good, I hope!

As my GBSC playthrough is slowly but steadily approaching the Roman Britain era, I found myself in need for some outfits for my sim ladies. There's a bunch of stuff out there, but rather on the 'what we'd like Romans to have dressed like' side, not necessarily what history tells us about how they really dressed. Tbh I thought it was a hopeless endeavour, but then dear Buzzard directed me towards this amazing post by Zeussim - more specifically, the Desi Gita dress, which with a bit of imagination could work for a Roman palla. So I set off to work and romanised it even further. Big thank you to @buzzardly28 for the tip and to @zeussim for her generous ToU!

The mesh is slightly edited (cutouts on shoulders, adjusted headscarf position to accommodate a wider variety of hairstyles) and recoloured in my Iron Age palette, in two versions: 'silk' (or just any smooth textile, really)* or 'wool' (or anything rather on the coarse side). AND it comes with overlays - for both versions! Which means you can mix and match not only different colours, but different textiles as well. You're a well-off lady who just arrived in Londinum and is now freezing her butt off in the cold northern climate? No worries, put a wool palla over your pretty silk dress! Or you by some miracle managed to get your hands on one piece of silk? Wear it with you wool dress to a party to show off!

Many of the wool swatches, especially in combination with different pale/greenish overlays, work quite well for common folk:

There's also an accessory fibula - pretty and golden (or silver), for the richer ones. Found somewhere on Sketchfab. (That's exactly where I got stuck - I wanted to make a variety of different ones, so that the poorer women would also have something to choose from... Alas).

*OK, I feel like I have to add a little note: my quick research revealed that silk was insanely expensive for the majority of the Roman era. Like, 'only for the emperor and fams' level of expensive. Only at the end it became... emmm... 'cheap' enough to be accessible also to the aristocracy. So just pretend it is whatever the heck you want it to be, not necessarily real silk
