The Abyss Stares Back: My Work in Progress List
So @msmcnevertweet tagged me to share my work in progress list (wip) and I warn you I have the distinct good fortune to do this full time after decades of awful customer service work so I've been playing catch up these past few years:
ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT
There are games that I am working on, more or less, right now.
Nostalgia & Dragons 4th Edition. This is a game I'm making for a friend's bachelor party. It's a one-pager that seeks to replicate the experience of 4th ed. D&D with minimal rules and failing forward resolution.
RIG. Mecha souls-like solo game. Based on the Rune system. This is uh... gonna come out sooner than later.
Big Damn Heroes. Classic D&D shit with an irreverent take on western fantasy tropes. Inspired by Blades in the Dark and Slugblaster. (someone please suggest a better name for this I don't want it to be a fucking Joss Whedon quote but it's so perfect I can't think of anything)
Fealty. A collaboration with the incredible Galen Pejeau. Commoners in a monarch's court try desperately to steer the nation. Inspired by the novel Wolf Hall.
The 55. This is my #dungeon23 project. A cyberpunk megatower full of unique locations, corpo suits, and more.
Neon Black version 8.0. The next reincarnation of my cyberpunk forged in the dark game. I have a fairly comprehensive notes document that summarizes all the new changes. I pick at it every day. My goal is to have something that can be tested this fall.
INACTIVE DEVELOPMENT
These are games that have had a significant amount of work done. Some are playable prototypes, some are incomplete but are more than just notes, or at least have a lot more notes than other projects. Not being worked on right now due to time, lack of personal interest, etc.
Stiletto. Single player game set in the city of Doskvol. You play as people trying to survive by themselves trying to make money, dodge the Bluecoats, and their shady pasts. First playbook is playable, but it ballooned way out of scope and I got burnt out.
Kassandra King: Devil's Dice. Single player urban fantasy noir game. Set in the world of External Containment Bureau, and using the same system. This game has had several iterations and is mostly ready for testing. Play as a hardboiled paranormal private investigator trying to figure out why you made a deal with the devil.
Blade Wings. This one is just Band of Blades but in space. You have pilots and ships as distinct playbooks. Options for different campaign types (robots, zerg like aliens, etc.)
Working Stiffs. A redacted materials game about being corporate contractors in space. Inspired by cassette futurism, Alien, Deadspace, etc. Progress determined by how much money you make, light PVP elements.
Untitled PbtA Card Game. Another collaboration with Galen. This one is a year or two old but it still lives rent free in my head. I really wanna get back to it one day.
Glocknights. Over the top epic fantasy. Players wield cursed weapons, IRON, in order to defend the mortal realm from the tyrannical angels that seek to enforce their divine mandate. Started as a collaboration with some other designers but I don't think any of us have touched it in a while.
Die-Atonic. Every see an assassin pursuing their target through an upscale nightclub and thought it was kinda hot? Anyway start the music, take turns asking and answering questions that illustrate the scene, history, and pursuit of two people through a location. When the music ends, the climax begins. Do you die, kiss, or both?
Blood & Tears. Vampire forged in the dark game all about living long and being sad about it. 4 playbooks based on classic humours.
DEEP IDEATION
These are games that exist as just a few notes, one solid idea I like, or maybe a cover page if I got wild with it.
Where We Dropping? A battle royale RPG inspired by the Lumen system.
Alone RPG System. A rough idea for a game SRD that lets you have an interesting and unpredictable solo experience.
Extraordinary Renditions. Y'know how in Horizon Zero Dawn there's that awesome moment in the history of the game where the government is black-bagging people from all over the world in order to get the expertise necessary to save it? What if that was a 2 player RPG?
Prisoners of Light and Matter. Matrix style RPG using the redacted materials system.
Untitled Wargame. I got back into 40k and hated all the rules so I tried to make something simpler. Just enough to maybe test but it's pretty rough right now.
The Gild. What if the slick futuristic data collection and analysis system you see in the new Hitman games fell into the hands of a bunch of rabid socialists?
Fire in the Stars. Revolution and revolt in the alpha centauri system. Had a version that was kinda playable. Spent a lot of time on the fiction, less on the mechanics. If I did this again I might just use the Nasty Brutish and Long rules, that could be fun.
Modern Exiles Hack. You cannot go home again, Night in the Woods-ass RPG. A potential collab. with the incomparable Jex Thomas of Bump in the Dark fame.
Skyscrape/DNGNCRWL. Real basic dungeon crawler where you control a party of characters. Might be cyberpunk, might be fantasy. Don't know yet.
Realm & Write. A roll and write style RPG inspired by my time with Crusader Kings III.
Slugblaster Loot Tables. Literally thought of this yesterday, just a bunch of random loot tables for the Slugblaster RPG. Could be fun?
Ahem...
So yeah that's it.
I'm still settling in here and don't follow a whole lot of active folks in the TTRPG scene so I'm gonna tag @monsterfactoryfanfic cause I really wanna know what they are working on or what their lists look like, be it videos or games or whatever.

Deadspace - The Grand Disillusionment

It has been a huge year for Australia's Deadspace to say the least. The band went to their darkest corners and came back with the masterpiece of their career and the best album of the early year in unexpectedly sardonic fashion with Dirge, which was followed up by the solid EP of similarly merciless depressive black metal, Libido Dominandi.
The Aussies have been one of the most tenacious and creatively vivacious bands in black metal that I have seen lately. Their portion of the Reaching for Silence split album in 2017 showcased a tremendous degree of liberty and confidence to melt so many other elements into black metal to reinforce it, and Dirge earlier this year just showed how unbelievably potent their black metal core could be when they distilled their sound down to it.
I said it earlier this year and I still believe it; that album is their masterpiece. So hearing that the band had let another full-length to offer us this year, I wasn't sure what to expect really. I wrote in my review for the Libido Dominandi EP that it played like a band who knew they were in good creative form and wanted to make the most of it; I suppose the band coming through with another full-length before the year's end is further proof of exactly that. So here we are, one EP and now two LPs into 2019, how is Deadspace's form holding up on The Grand Disillusionment?
The album follows the stylistic suit that it's predecessor laid out for it and the compositional productive hot spot the band find themselves at this year, no juxtaposition to Dirge with callbacks to their more blackgazey stuff or novel melodic stuff either. This very much plays like a continuation of the sound they've been riding this year, and if there's one thing the band prove on this album is that they can do it for the long haul, across two full albums and an EP in one year. And I do quite like this album, but it's no Dirge, and I certainly wasn't expecting them to match that one so soon. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if some or many of these tracks were taken from that album's sessions.
The band continue to work in a lot of dynamic to their newly aggressive revelation of their black metal as they did on Dirge. The opening track, "Inhale the Slime", for example, goes from its eerie sampled-screams intro to vigorous blast beats to slower, harsher dissonance, and then loops back to similar uneasiness with the integration of these eerie piano melodies at the end.
"The Funeral March" makes further use of the minimalism of ominous piano lead for its intro, before it breaks into an abyssal display of perturbing nihilistic despair, which the band keeps engaging, again, through the consistent integration of compositional dynamic. And I think the vocal and instrumental performances across the album should get some credit again for the liveliness they bring to this album's dismal disillusionment. The tightness on the full-team performances like "Horrors to Endure" and the individual flair like the pummeling blast beats on "Masturbation Ritual", the rapid-fire double-bass of "Lungs", and the particularly menacing snarls and growls and doom-summoning shouts on the apocalyptic "The Ashes of the World".
Also, it's not particularly flashy, but I love the timing of the double-bass drumming on the song "Infliction"; it's still showful enough up top, but the instinct to support the trajectory of the song rather than go manic with rhythmic diversions is part of this creative high this band is in right now. The production on this album can be iffy around the high pitch of the guitars when they start getting more layered, but when it comes to the drums, they sound full-bodied and chiseled, which certainly contributes to their being a standout instrumental feature so often here.
The band do go a little more consistently traditionally atmospheric on songs like "As Time Moves Backwards", which makes great use of varying drum rhythms and some particularly stormy double bass near its finish to provide a fierce atmospheric climax, as well as the more openly sorrowful "The Seventh Death of a Fascist Sun", whose traditional NWOBHM guitar melody serves as a surprisingly sturdy foundation.
The closing track "The Bones Beneath My Feet" does well to wrap up so much of the previous tracks' energy into something conclusive and climactic, and the drums just dazzle through their crisp, incredibly flattering production as they pull out all the stops of double-bass, tom rolls, and blast beats for a grand fireworks finale.
While not quite up to the unprecedented outright mastery of Dirge, The Grand Disillusionment follows suit worthily and shows not just that Deadspace are still in fine form, but that they can make this hot streak go the distance. Honestly, the more I write about this album and the more I've been listening to it alongside other contemporary black metal in this vein, the more I appreciate how creatively compact this album is and how on fire Deadspace are right now. I mean, for such a consistently sinister album, this thing is such an exciting musical ride, and that deserves to be appreciated with a "real" score for once.

You can’t actually do anything while in transit to an Abyssal site or between conduits. This guide assumes you’ve got some idea of how to run abyssal sites. Buy a dozen and you should get the storm type you are looking for. You will find Calm Abyssal Filaments Crate seeded in the market. If you want to try Abyssal Space without the risk you need to head over to Singularity (Test Server). Just remember – if you don’t activate the final gate before the timer (20 mins) runs down – you will lose your ship AND pod – up to you to decide if the risk is worth the reward. So why not grab a your T1 ship of choice and jump right in? There are also seven possible difficulty levels, with increasing. Within an abyssal deadspace pocket, there are five possible weather effects that affect both the player and NPCs. Filaments can be found in some Data Sites and also inside of some abyssal deadspace pockets.  ��策としての効率を求めるならVexorやGilaに乗った方が良い。近寄って殴り合うThoraxは離れてドローンをぶん投げるVexorに比べリスク対リターン比がけた違いに悪くなる。あくまで金策手段としてAbyssをとらえるなら…Thoraxで侵入するのはナンセンスだ。
 ここで妙な話にうつる。真面目な話、PVP中のおれは結構逃げ腰なのだ。だから勝てる相手を取り逃がす。ISK勝負で勝てる状況で踏み込まず、結局撃ち落されて丸損に終わる。
 逃げ腰の思考を克服するためには、逃げたら死ぬ環境で敵と殴り合う経験を積まねばならない。
 そこで、Abyssだ。DeadSpaceという閉鎖空間、20分というタイムリミット。そしてThoraxはドローンではなくハイブリッドタレット、それも短射程のブラスターを扱うことに特化した船だ。適切な手法で間合いに踏み込み、殴る。ミスしなければほぼ負けはないが、なにか一つ間違えば即、死。完璧な訓練だ。
索敵などという面倒なプロセスはない。フィラメントを起動すれば敵がいる。DPS,タンクともにある程度確保してあるのだから負けるのは操艦が悪かったからに他ならない。言い訳をする余地はどこにもない。
 しばらくは無様なキルボードになるだろう。しかしこれはいわば禅なのだ。座禅だけが禅ではない。Abyssに潜り、いかなる状況でも心乱さず戦うこともある種の禅といえよう。アーマーやキャパシタの警告音に心乱され、敵の脅威度を見誤り撃墜されるならば修行が足りないのだ。

Dec 17, 2015  The purpose of this guide is to give a simple straight forward cheat sheet for the “Best” damage combinations in Warframe given your group and the faction you’re hunting. Information in this guide was formed by a consensus of various Warframe forum posts and damage combo theory crafting discussions on Reddit. These tend to be the same as the NPC damage types of that race's primary opposing faction (e.g. Caldari racial damage types are the same as the Gurista damage types), and the general principle is that these will be the main damage types which that race will put out.
There are four different damage types in EVE: Electromagnetic (EM) Kinetic Thermal Explosive All weapons in EVE do at least one (often two) of these damage types, and every ship has different resistances against each. Understanding damage types helps you to survive longer and deal more damage to enemy ships. There are eight primary types of hybrid ammunition: Antimatter charges. Plutonium charges. Uranium charges. Thorium charges. Lead charges. Iridium charges. Tungsten charges.

Eve Pirate Faction Damage Types
Full Introduction
While the 'Into the Abyss' expansion adds a number of other changes, this new Triglavian faction is the primary focus of this page, with the related Abyssal Deadspace complexes on top.
The core source of most of the Triglavian content is the Abyssal Deadspace complexes, which are unique complexes in a separate and isolated area of space for which only one person can participate in at a time. These sites are the source for the BPCs used to build Triglavian ships, also called Precursor vessels; these sites also provide 'keys' to access other complexes, blueprints for Entropic Disintegrator modules, Abyssal Deadspace modifier items and some apparel items.
Precursor vessels are the only ships that can use the Entropic Disintegrator modules which have a different setup than the conventional weapon systems most EVE players are familiar with. They focus on an armor tank with emphasis on utility; much like the Society of Conscious Thought vessels, these hulls tend to be somewhat mediocre but can excel in very specific situations. They are specifically equipped to use the Entropic Disintegrator weapon system: all of the hulls have only one turret slot yet have two or more utility high slots, possibly to synergize with the remote armor repair bonuses on each hull. Entropic Disintegrators are a curious weapon system which has some parallels to laser systems, with an interesting but rather specific attribute whereby the damage modifier of the weapon system increases with each shot fired.
Abyssal Mutaplasmids are special modifier elements which are designed to modify certain attributes of select modules. An example would be a Microwarpdrive: the mutaplasmid can boost or decrease the velocity bonus, the powergrid requirement, the signature radius modifier or the activation cost. This allows for interesting concepts in ship choices but also threatens the stability of the module metagame.
Further details on each of these concepts will be explored below.

The Triglavian Collective is a new faction that appeared in New Eden in early YC120. Fleets were following heavily damaged and incapacitated Drifter Fleets appeared around several locations around New Eden it was discovered that those fleets were engaged by a faction that was not known before. Data vaults salvaged from those damaged drifter fleets and Arataka Research Consortium managed to salvage data from those corrupted trinary data vaults that have video footage that shows that unknown faction, named as 'Triglavian Collective' engaging Drifter Fleet with an exotic weapon system. One of their Battleship class hulls was also captured by CONCORD and further research was conducted to reveal more about those new faction. It was suggested that the Triglavian Collective is a formation of three entities. Those entities are Peruna Clade [CLPER], Svarov Clade [CLSVA] and Velesian Clade [CLVEL].

Abyssal Deadspace

Abyssal Deadspace is a special area of space disconnected from conventional Known Space (K-space) and wormhole space (W-space). Players use special Filaments which are like 'keys' to access such areas of space, and have a limited amount of time and face special challenges to complete these sectors of space and survive.
Ships
The Expansion introduces a new ship skill called “Precursor” that leaves room for future races to fall under. What is known so far about the ships and is subject to change. Triglavian ships have medium speed and a focus on armor tanking, as well as several utility role bonuses toward remote armor repairers, energy neutralizers, and smartbombs.
Interestingly enough, the T1 hulls were the only ones to originate from the Triglavian Collective, while the others were designed by one of the factions in known space. Each T2 hull was created by one of the four empires integrating their own technology with Triglavian designs; the Nergal was made by the Gallente, the Draugur by the Minmatar, the Ikitursa by the Caldari, and the Zarmazd by the Amarr. The special-edition Hydra and Tiamat were both designed by the Society of Conscious Thought.

Entropic Disintegrators

A new weapon skill and specialization will allow the use of Entropic Disintegrators coming in T1 (Meta 0, Compact, Scoped and Faction) and T2 variants, and in three sizes. The new weapon system will occupy a single turret slot and only one can be fitted, limited to Triglavian ships. This opens many possibilities as a large number of utility highs remain free.
The Entropic Disintegrator has unique characteristics such as increasing damage per cycle and no falloff. When a target is out of range of the weapon, or if any event causes the weapon to deactivate, the damage ramp-up is reset. The weapon system uses tracking mechanics and is impacted by tracking modules, using Entropic Radiation Sink modules as damage modules. The damage type is restricted to explosive and thermal. Ammunition is loaded into the Disintegrator like conventional weapon systems, has no reload time, holds large amounds of ammunition which also takes up large amounts of space in cargo (subject to change).
The base optimal ranges are 6500/15500/28000 m for small/medium/large variants. The rate of fire is 4s/6s/8s. The damage charge-up is 5% per cycle up to 150% maximum damage. Ammo will have up to 80% extra range or down to as low as negative 50% for higher damage. Base turret damage 3/4/6 turrets equivalent.
For ammunition, Tetryon provides the highest base damage and closest optimal range, Baryon for mid-range, and Meson for lower base damage with farther optimal range. Occult and Mystic are Tech II ammunition, with Occult being close-range high damage lower tracking ammunition (similar to Void or Conflagration for blasters or pulse lasers, respectively) with Mystic being a lower damage lower tracking longer range ammunition (similar to Null or Scorch).

This is an elemental damage and physical damage weakness overview for Warframe (updated 08/2019). This overview is a starting point for new players that want to progress through the starchart. This overview does not consider finisher damage, status procs and crit multiplier that are needed for high level (sortie or endless) content. – Explanation video below
Physical Damage types and fraction weakness
Physical damage is the base damage for most weapons you encounter in Warframe. Very rarely will you find a weapon with a physical damage. Early game weapons will always have a combination of all 3 physical damage types.
Going against Infested you should prefer Slash heavy weapons. Against GrineerPuncture damage is preferred and against CorpusImpact damage is the damage type of choice.
Slash damage is good against Infested & effective against flesh
Puncture damage is good against Grineer & effective against armor
Impact damage is good against Corpus & effective against shield
But these 3 physcial damage types are only your starting point because elemental damage combinations are way more effective against each faction.
In Warframe you have 4 base elemental damage types: Heat, Cold, Toxin and Electricity. They are even more powerful when they are combined. I have listed the most effective combinations against each faction for you.
Grineer elemental weakness and best setup
Basic Grineer grunts are weak against Heat damage. But heavier units wear armor and Corrosive damage is your best choice against them.
Corrosive (Toxin + Electricity) against heavy Grineer
Heat against light Grineer
Infested weakness and best setup
Similar to Grineer grunts are light Infested units. They are also weak against Heat damage. Heavy Infested units possess armor that can is weak against Corrosive damage.

Corpus elemental weakness
Corpus units posses shields that have a weakness against Magnetic damage. Additionally Toxin has the ability to do damage under Corpus shield against Corpus flesh.

Void enemies on the start chart have similar weaknesses like Grineer. That means that Corrosive damage is useful against heavier units. Heat damage as well as Cold damage are useful against grunt enemy types.

Elemental damage will always be applied to the target. It has nothing to do with status chance. Status chance is the chance of triggering the elemental status effect; also known as proc. The higher the status chance the higher the chance a damage type (physical or elemental) will proc.

Current Music Obsessions: November 1 - 15, 2017
So I have A LOT to show you guys today. I've been working on stuff and busy in my personal life that I haven't been able to really purge my watch later playlist, but at least we got a lot of great jams to get through this time around. Here are the MANY honorable mentions.

1) Anna Fiori - Fuego Negro
This is Anna's first single from her upcoming album and it is so beautiful. Her music is kinda like Within Temptation's gothic metal period, just heavier. I can't get enough of this track. Of everything I've heard from her, this has to be my favorite so far and I can't wait to hear more.
2) Aether Realm - The Devil
I discovered this song and band through a mutual on Twitter and got into pretty quickly. They're a blend of symphonic, black and folk metal and are also from the States, which blows my mind. It's rare that I find a band from the States that I actually think is really great, but a lot of American bands have been to my liking lately. This song is just pure epicness and is a journey from start to finish.
3) Marmozets - Habits
This song is so catchy and fun. It's more in your face than Play, but is just as fun and great. I'm so on board with this band and I hardly know anything about them other than that they have such a cool sound and that I'm totally digging them.  The video is a bit strange, but oddly fits the song. Can't wait to hear their new album.
4) Regardless of Me - Losing You (In Loving Memory)
This is their newest single and I'm really into it. It's very different compared to the stuff I'm used to hearing from them with their previous singer. It's definitely more on the gothic metal side than the symphonic metal with hints of power metal that I'm used to, but is still really great. This song is so simple, but the execution is what makes it amazing. The chorus is everything and is what really sucks you in.
5) Evanescence - Lacrymosa
HO. LY. TITS. THAT FUCKING HIGH NOTE AT THE END. That's all I got to say on this AMAZING rendition of this already amazing song from them. Go listen to it, NOW.
6) Light Among Shadows - In the Dark of Dreams
I randomly came across this band in the recommended videos one day. Their singer is definitely different from the singers I'm used to, but her voice suits the music so well. It's a great jam that's pretty catchy.
7) Amberian Dawn - I'm the One
I am so beyond excited for their new album. This song alone is such a great representation of joining the old with the new. It has such a classic Amberian Dawn vibe to it, while still keeping it fresh and suitable for Capri. She fucking slays this song and it shows just how versatile her voice is and how broad her range is.
8) Shade Empire - Ruins
I wound up rekindling my love for song recently. It's a great jam for those of us who really enjoy symphonic black metal. According to the metal archives, they're an industrial metal band. Although I can understand why they say that, the industrial metal influences are so minimal and outshined that it goes unnoticed. But that aside, this song is epic and amazing and really need to listen to more from them.
9) Monolith Moon - Stages of Mind Catabolism
I'm finally getting around to listening to more from them and this song is some proggy goodness. I'm curious as to when they plan on releasing their full length album, because this debut EP is proving to be wonderful. I'm definitely am gonna continue to listen to more from them and keep and ear out for any upcoming release.
10) Banks - Better
I decided to give this a song a listen whilst listening to her one day and got hooked. It's a great jam and is a bit more raw compared to the stuff I've heard from her so far. I haven't heard a dud from her yet and am always looking forward to hearing more from her.
11) InAeona - Soldier
This is a sludge-ish post metal track that I discovered through their record label. It's such a great song to just chill to, but also great to jam to. That's the beauty of post metal, the aggression fused with the ambiance truly make it wonderful for anyone to listen to. Definitely am gonna check out more from them.
12) The Design Abstract - Metropolis I
Randomly came across these guys one day and now need to hear their new album. They have such an interesting sound for a prog band. They have such a strong electronic element, something that a lot of prog bands that I listen to don't have. It's so refreshing to hear something so different in the progressive metal scene.
13) Arch Enemy - The Race
This new album is proving to be a ballbuster and WAY better than War Eternal already. I can't wait to listen to it. This song just exudes Alissa's influence on the band, but is still so true to themselves and what they've always brought: a death metal assault full of raw energy.
14) Hallatar - My Mistake feat. Heike Langhans (Draconian)
This is hands down the most beautiful doom metal track I've heard so far this year. I so plan on buying this album (and hopefully a shirt) when I can do so. This song is just so heartbreaking and beautiful. If Trees of Eternity were to ever do a live show, they NEED to have Heike sing the songs, for she's the only singer who can truly match up to Aleah's ghostly voice and embody the heartbreakingly beautiful lyrics, just as she does with this song here. This song is perfection.
15) Marina and the Diamonds - How to be a Heartbreaker
Finally listening to more from her and this instantly became a jam. It's so much fun and so upbeat. I'm constantly finding myself singing it throughout the day. The video is such a great change and reversal of roles. It's so nice seeing men being objectified in a music video for once and the woman being the one who's in charge and isn't being sexualized whatsoever.
16) Gulsen - Bangir Bangir
Discovered this banger through an episode of Teens React when they reacted to Turkish pop music and I had to listen to this song on my own. The singer's voice is so wonderful and so different compared to so many pop artists you hear today and so different compared to the singers I listen to on the regular. This song is such a fun song to just jam out to and I literally can't stop listening to it. Why and how is it so good??? Oh, and have fun getting this song out of your head.
17) Dark Sarah - Trespasser feat. JP Leppaluoto
They're back at it again with a beautiful and powerful song. This song is exactly what was to be expected and more when we found out that Sarah wound encounter the Dragon again. The video is so different and unexpected, but then again we don't know how to story leads up to the point where this song/video take place, so it could easily make sense once we get the full context. I'm so looking forward to the song that features Zuberoa (Diabulus in Musica, Tragul) and I can't wait to hear what else Heidi has in store for us with this chapter of the story.
18) Snow Tha Product - Play
It's official. Snow is one of my favorite rappers. I knew she was really good, but after listening to this, it sealed the deal. Homegirl goes IN on this song. It's such a fun and great jam. DEFINITELY best when you got headphones in and the volume is turned up. Just give it a listen. You won't be unimpressed.
