FLASH REPORT: 'Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt (Season 2)' drops new teaser trailer, expected to air in 2025 [#K5NewsFMExclusive]
Tumblr media
(Written by Anne Savisa Boonchuy / Chief Regional Correspondent of Disney XD News and Herpetologist of the AotP)
TOKYO, JAPAN -- After nearly 15 years, fans of the show pleasantly surprise as unexpected when a new teaser trailer video recently released on YouTube last Tuesday on December 24th (a corporate video-sharing company of Google's Alphabet) as Christmas Eve comes to an end last night in Japan for only this year in 2024. But earlier this afternoon, a thrilling announcement was a perfect festive surprise for not just the viewers locally, leading up to its global attention, including the Philippines for example, where it was made just hours before the holiday ended by tomorrow on Christmas Day on Wednesday early morning on December 25th.
Because of the worst cliffhanger end, where it previously recalled from last season when 'Stocking Anarchy' officially declared in hell after killing her sibling sister 'Panty', the eagerly anticipated of the show is slated to premiere for Season 2 in 2025. This return is very exciting for fans, excludes negativity of criticism by force as the show has been quiet since it was canceled in the late-December 2010, like a dead air on radio transistor sets.
A press release shared by the 'Anime News Network' (ANN) highlighted that the teaser trailer video, per exclusively obtained by DWFH-FM 97.7mhz's K5 News FM in Dumaguete City, showcased the renowned anime duo "Panty" and "Stocking", also referred to as the Anarchy sisters -- embarking on their quest in Daten City to battle sinister forces in a domain, straddling the lines of heaven and hell. Admirers of the series known for its mature-based content are in for a treat as the same witty and defiant chemistry that made the first series a hit remains intact between these sibling duos.
The new season of PSG was produced by the new animation studio 'TRIGGER', the same group that created this said original series at the now-defunct 'Gainax'. While we are taking some daring chances in the industry of anime, they hope to preserve the essential elements of the originality with series creator 'Geek Fleet' is at the helm. The teaser presents viewers, including us, with an enriched integration of humor and action, furthered by outstanding animation and breathtaking visuals.
Regarding the voice casts, the Season 2 teaser hints at a blend of both old and new voices. Along with the return of the Anarchy sisters' familiar voices, the cast will also include new members who will bring some exciting energy to the programme. Moreover, new music soundtracks from artists like Taku Inoue, TeddyLoid and m-flo are taken part of them, which should significantly improve the new season's overall experience in history.
New episodes of 'Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt' (Season 2) will be aired LIVE over 'OneNETtv Channel', the only Negrosanon entertainment and news leader station in the area, so people who get to stay up late eagerly await it. Details with the Japanese commercial TV broadcaster are still being negotiated, along with the official air date.
For those who are unfamiliar with the series before, or to relive some of the most significant moments in Daten City, 'Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt' can be streamed online at 'ABEMA TV' in Japan, and also streaming on 'Apple TV+' & 'Amazon Prime Video' in the United States of America (U.S.A.). In addition to expletive language, there are various expectations in erotic components scattered through the season that may not be suitable for viewers with overly sensitive or easily offended nerves.
The teaser trailer sets the tone for a tumultuous and unapologetic ride for the series, which us audiences are expecting for the new season that is set to drop in 2025. Fans can expect a thrilling ride back to this said city of Daten, as the adventures of the Anarchy sisters continue with community involvement and an assurance of chaos, high-explosive action, romantic influence and general entertainment.

AKB48 Muto Tomu’s “Stay at Home”: Sadness for not being able to meet (her fans) and a different way to bring joy to the fans
Tumblr media
Source: https://times.abema.tv/posts/7060083
After a month, the government lifted the state of emergency on May 25th that served as a measure to prevent the spread of Covid19. Although the numbers of confirmed infections remain, the government has also lifted the travel restriction between prefectures and the socio-economic activities has resumed.
Meanwhile, AKB48 Muto Tomu’s regular appearance as a weather forecaster on Abema Morning which had been postponed for 2 months, has finally started in June. Abema Morning began a new arrangement with four female casts: TV Asahi Tanaka Moe, also Sumita Sari and Namiki Marina who joined us in April as new casters, as well as Muto Tomu who delivered the weather forecast every Friday. We interviewed the four of them.
How does the Covid19 has changed “Idol” Muto Tomu’s working style and how does she spend her time at home?
·       Your first regular appearance as a weather forecaster should have started on April 3rd, but it was postponed to June 5th. How did you feel for the past two months?
I have appeared on this show a couple of times and was very excited to start my role as a regular cast in April. Of course, I felt sad when it was postponed for 2 months. However, I’m happy that I could finally appear as a regular and feel so grateful about it.
·       How is your work affected in the past two or three months?
We (AKB48), did not have any on-site work since the announcement of the state of emergency in April. Live concert and handshake events were also cancelled or postponed, the situations have changed in many ways. AKB48 brings the concept of “Idol you can meet”, thus it feels sad that we are unable to meet our fans.
Nonetheless, the number of remote working has increased dramatically, opening the opportunities to meet with the fans through the screen from home. As we started OUC48 Project, we released “365 Nichi no Kami Hikouki” in which all members sang together. We also did various OUC48 Projects via live stream. We are working on different ways whereby we can spend fun times with our fans despite being at home, something we have never done before.
·       You must have been interacting a lot with your fans through SNS?
SNS is very important for us. As a group, we do more live streams and we performed a stage from our respective houses. It becomes an opportunity for people who could not watch theatre stages due to physical problems.
Tumblr media
·       How did you spend your time at home?
I cooked more often. I also do the dish after eating. In the past, I was not really that type of person who did that. I made braised pork, niku jaga, gratin, and crab cream croquette. Surprisingly, I could do it! Lol. My mother was also happy about it. I usually did not have so much time at home, she told me “I’ve always wanted to feel like this (re: Tomu did the house chores)” Lol. She also told me, “Your cooking is delicious, please do more”, but I think she wants me to get carried away by her ulterior motives! While staying at home, I was able to talk more with my family as we spend more time together.
Also, I was absent as a weather forecaster for 2 months and I was afraid that my skills would deteriorate. Therefore, I tried to explain tomorrow’s weather while checking the weather conditions on my laptop. I also watched weather forecast segments on various tv shows.
·       You mentioned it on the previous interview that there were a few things which were difficult to express.
I watched those shows while learning new ways to express it or spotted a slightly different way to do it.
·       What do you want to do once Covid19 has settled down?
I want to perform a live concert! However, it is still hard to do it under the current condition. AKB48 held 8 live stages in 7 days in February, but I learnt that I couldn’t perform my unit’s live stage the day before the actual performance. Although we have practiced for the live performance, we could not perform it. Someday, I want to perform it.
I also want to go to karaoke on my private time. I love going to karaoke alone. I always search online when it would be fine to go to karaoke. Lol. Saitama and Chiba prefectures have allowed going to karaoke, but Tokyo has not. Also, I planned with the members whom I am close with, to travel in January or February, but things did not pan out well and we had to cancel it. It would be great if someday we can go according to the plan.
·       Please share your enthusiasm about ABEMA Morning.
Although it was postponed for 2 months, I still feel nervous. I will work hard to be able to convey the messages better. I hope you can continue watching my growth. I also write the script by myself and I hope you can notice my writing style.

Wrestle Kingdom 16 Day 2 preview
The biggest annual event in Japanese pro wrestling continues tonight, at 2am EST on January 5 (Tuesday night/Wednesday morning). Just like the January 4 show, you can stream it live or on-demand (with English or Japanese commentary). It's 999 yen ($8.60 US) to get the whole month of January on NJPW World. Fite.tv has just the 1/5 show for $19.99, or a bundle of 1/4 and 1/5 for $29.99.
Note the Day 3 of Wrestle Kingdom, the 1/8 show, has a different arrangement--it'll be exclusive to ABEMA for a week, so it won't be available on NJPW World right away.
Tonight's main event features Will Ospreay against the winner of the January 4 main event, so don't look under the cut if you aren't caught up yet.
Kazuchika Okada vs. Will Ospreay - Okada is defending the IWGP world heavyweight title, just 24 hours after winning the championship from Shingo Takagi. Ospreay claims to be the "real" champion, and still wears a copy of the world title belt, because he won the championship back in April and never lost it in the ring due to an injury. This match will presumably end the dispute.
In an interesting bit of trivia, Ospreay has been involved with two disputed title storylines in the past year. He's been the Revolution Pro Wrestling British heavyweight champion since 2020, but in July 2021 Ricky Knight Jr. proclaimed himself to be "real" champion, leading to a unification match in September where Ospreay won both title belts. He also won the Warrior Wrestling championship in December, so he came to Japan with four belts in total. The RevPro and Warrior Wrestling titles are not at stake here, although I think it's pretty neat that a Chicago-area indy title is in the Tokyo Dome.
In one-on-one matches, Okada is 5-1 against Ospreay. Will's only victory came when he betrayed Okada to go heel in October 2020. The resulting feud concluded with Okada getting the win at last year's Wrestle Kingdom. That was their last singles match together. Ospreay was supposed to defend the title against Okada on May 29, but that fell apart due to Ospreay's injuries and a national state of emergency. So it's taken a year for them to run this back.
These two are bound to have a great match. However, I'm not confident the Ospreay we'll see here will be the same as the guy who won the title last year, let alone the guy who tore the house down in the 2019 Best of the Super Jr. final. Ospreay's style has evolved, and it'd be foolish to assume it isn't continuing to evolve.
I think a win over Okada is crucial for Ospreay. It's clear that the plan last year was for him to lose the WK15 match, but then he'd win the title, beat Okada in a rematch, and be the top heel for months. Since they didn't get very far into that plan, Ospreay's ascent to the top feels unfinished, and a second Tokyo Dome loss to Okada kinda puts him back at the level of SANADA. So he needs to win, although I'm not sure the promotion needs him to win. We'll see.
My gut feeling is that they wouldn't have Okada win the title from Shingo just to turn around and lose it the next day. As I've repeatedly said, I keep learning never to bet against the Rainmaker.
KENTA vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi - Kenta won the IWGP United States title from Tanahashi on November 6, and he agreed to this rematch on the condition that there be no disqualifications. So this match is probably going to be a brawl full of cheap shots, which tends to favor Kenta. Tana, however, is prepared to go to any lengths to get his belt back, to the point that he got his team disqualified last night while attacking Kenta.
I've found Kenta's whole heel run rather tedious and I'm not sure these stips are going to make things more interesting. I suppose there is the allure of seeing Tanahashi fight dirty. But I'm not really expecting him to whip out a sack of thumbtacks or set a table on fire or anything, y'know?
The most compelling thing about this match is that I need to know who wins so I know which guy I should speculate is going to go back to the US to fight AEW guys. Who knows, somebody might do a video promo after the match to challenge the winner! Or maybe nothing will happen. Only one way to find out.
Tetsuya Naito vs. Jeff Cobb - During the World Tag League tournament last month, Naito and SANADA defeated Cobb and Great-O-Khan, so Cobb blew his stack and challenged Naito to a singles match. I think that's the entire backstory.
I would look at a match like this and say there's no point to it except for a guy like Cobb to pick up a big win over a top guy like Naito. I'm sure I did say something like that last year, when Cobb and his associates in the United Empire were all stepping up to top guys at Wrestle Kingdom 15...and then they all lost. So yeah, I ain't falling for that shit again. I won't be disappointed if I just pick Naito to win.
SANADA vs. Great-O-Khan - Even the official preview from New Japan's website is just like "well, uh, they were both there when the Naito/Cobb fight started, so anyway..."
Every time I think NJPW is gonna give one of these guys a big push, they choke. So this is actually kind of fascinating, because how can Gedo book both of these guys to choke against each other? One of them has to win, right? Right?
EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi & SHO vs. Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI & YOH - Evil's team won the NEVER trios title from Goto, Yoshi, and Tomohiro Ishii, and now Goto and Yoshi are getting a rematch with a different partner. Yoh is a fitting replacement, since he and Sho have had a bitter feud since Sho betrayed him and aligned with Bullet Club and Evil's "House of Torture" group.
Goto, Yoshi, and Yoh are all on a roll, as they all picked up wins last night. Goto and Yoshi won the IWGP heavyweight tag team title, and Yoh beat Sho to get the momentum headed into this match. On the other hand, Evil won the NEVER singles title, and Yujiro didn't even have a match so he's fresh as a daisy.
My preference would be to have Evil pin Yoh so these teams can go their separate ways, instead of defending all their assorted belts against one another back and forth for months. But in the New Japan tag division, that's kind of the way it always works. So I'm expecting one of the champions--probably Yoshi--to eat a pinfall.
Toru Yano vs. Chase Owens vs. Minoru Suzuki vs. CIMA - This is a four-way match featuring the co-winners of last night's New Japan Ranbo. The first man to score a fall on any opponent will win the match and posession of the KOPW 2022 trophy. Whoever has the trophy at the end of the year will be the KOPW 2022 champion.
The big surprise here is Cima, who normally works in GLEAT and was previously best known for his run in Dragon Gate. (AEW fans may remember Cima's brief run with that company.) It stands to reason that he's not sticking around so he probably won't win this match. I mean, it'd be interesting if he won the trophy to kick off a Gleat invasion storyline or something, but I wouldn't count on it.
They've been doing this KOPW stuff since 2020, and in all that time Yano is the only guys who've ever held the trophy, except when Chase had it for like a month. So it's basically just a joke championship for Yano--even if Owens wins it here, he'll probably just lose it back to Yano in a game of musical chairs or something.
Mayu Iwatani & Starlight Kid vs. Saya Kamitani & Tam Nakano - This a women's match featuring talent from STARDOM, which is owned by the same parent company as New Japan. They've actually been doing Stardom matches at Wrestle Kingdom for a few years now, but until now they've never been included in the broadcast.
I've never gotten around to checking out Stardom. So as far as I know, the only story here is that they had a "random draw" to determine the teams for this match. Iwatani and Starlight used to be friends but Starlight has since joined the villainous Odeo Tai faction. In the other corner, it was only a week ago that Kamitani defeated Nakano for the Wonder of Stardom championship, the #2 title in the promotion. So it's a parejas increíbles match, or as the kids say these days "CAN THEY CO-EXIST~?"
I don't know if it matters who wins, although I seem to recall Iwatani is always included in these Tokyo Dome appearances, so I bet they'll protect her.
Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask vs. Rocky Romero & Ryusuke Taguchi vs. El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori - This is the opener for the main show. Eagles and Tiger (Flying Tiger) are defending the IWGP junior heavyweight title against Romero/Taguchi (The Mega Coaches) and ELP/Ishimori (Bullet Club's Cutest Tag Team). The first man to score a fall on any opponent will win the match and the title for his team. As I recall, in three-way tag matches there are only two legal men in the ring at any time, each from two of the three teams, but they can tag in anybody they want.
Eagles and Tiger are the 68th junior tag champs, so if one of the other teams wins they will become the 69th titleholders. Taguchi happens to be obsessed with the number 69, presumably because he was the 69th junior singles champion. So he will stop at nothing to be one of the 69th junior tag champions. And since Phantasmo is a douchebag troll, he will also stop at nothing to win the title just to make sure Taguchi can't be in the 69th championship team.
Of course, if Flying Tiger retains the title, then the quest for #69 will simply be deferred. That's what I figure will happen, to keep this storyline going. You don't want to blow this off too soon, you know?
Shingo Takagi & Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI vs. Zack Sabre Jr. & Taichi & DOUKI - This was announced today for the pre-show. All six of these guys lost their matches on January 4, so I guess it's sort of a consolation match. I'm still kinda bummed that Shingo lost so I hope he just, like, eats Douki or something.
El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru & TAKA Michinoku vs. Master Wato & Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan - Another last-minute pre-show match. Despy defeated Hiromu Takahashi in last night's semi-main, so I'm not sure how he ended up lower on tonight's card than Hiromu. There's at least a chance Wato and TenCozy could win, but I'm picking the Suzuki-gun team.
Yuji Nagata & Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma vs. Bad Luck Fale & Gedo & Jado - And here's the very first match on the pre-show, the curtain jerker of curtain jerkers. I'd give Fale good odds against any of his three opponents, but in a six-man tag match he can't do it alone, and Gedo and Jado aren't going to be much help. I guess they could pull some shenanigans and score a win over Honma, maybe. Crap, I just remembered it was Jado that did the DDT that broke Honma's neck a few years back, so I guess that'll get brought up. It doesn't really matter who wins this.

Update August 8, 2020: The preview video has been removed from Ayu's channel now that the full version is out, now included above.
Earlier today, Ayu’s team teased two premieres: one at 4am Friday (3pm Thursday here on the US East Coast), and one upcoming at 6pm in Japan. The first arrived about 30 minutes late, but was a preview for the 「オヒアの木」PV shot by Kazuyoshi Shimomura. The full version will also premiere July 30th.
Like the original「オヒアの木」teaser, the video posted this morning contains a flash of a new photo, it also features brief flashes of the letters “T” and “K,” suggesting it’s a new Tetsuya Komuro collaboration. TK made his big, post-retirement comeback this week with Nogizaka46 (if he could ever be considered retired to begin with), so a new song with Ayu seems like a reasonable assumption.
Tumblr media
「オヒアの木」--and presumably the new song--will be performed on her Abema livestream Saturday.

Yudai instagram update:
Good morning! ! ☺️
I had my first full 3DCG concert yesterday
#Da_iCE × #ABEMA Da-iCE ONLINE LIVE TOUR 2020 -THE Da-iCE-
It's been a long time since our last performance in February, so I hope everyone enjoyed it. ✨
I was really really nervous, with my heart pounding, about my pacing and forgetting words,
But on a whole
I was able to have a good time.
There was no place where I could perform because concerts and events were being canceled left and right,
When can we, How can we, Which are we able to...?
When we were thinking these things, this opportunity was presented
This live was less than an hour
And while this may also be true for your everyday live performances, being able to have a live now is special and not typical, so I want to first of all acknowledge that behind the scenes, there were dozens of staff who set up the stage and made this possible! ! ! !
And I am truly grateful to all the fans who have been waiting for us for many months until yesterday. ..
Not to mention the people who watched it, and those who wanted to watch it, even if they couldn’t! ! I also thank those who thought of us, even a little ✨
It was a fun time that went by so quickly, and I feel a bit lonely now it’s over Not only was it fun, but of course there are many things to reflected on, so...
Since we will perform again next month on August 16
The content will be completely different, but I will still do my best to deliver a better LIVE! !
Please look forward to next month!
Thank you always 😉
And today I'm going to a really enjoyable recording! !
I cannot tell you the details yet, but please look forward to the coming announcement ✨ 😊

[ENG TRANS] AKB48 Team K Muto Tomu’s 26th Birthday Seitansai Speech
Tumblr media
How was your 25 Years Old?
Probably it is not only but I thought the past one year there were so many things that did not go well. It might not be exactly correct to say that many things did not go well, maybe I’d say that the past year had been frustrating. First of all, the opportunities to meet my fans decreased. Due to the pandemic, it was hard to carry out my jobs. There was also a part of me that was thinking how it would turn out if the conditions were not like this.
Despite these conditions, I started my regular weather segment on Abema Morning. Also, the movie that was shot last year was finally released this year. Although I could not progress significantly, I’m glad that I could slowly move forward. I also learnt a lot this past year.
Also, in the past year it made me learn that we could not take everything for granted.
What do you want to achieve as a 26 Year-Old?
I couldn’t believe I’ve turned 26. I answered one of these questions alone (re: Tomu’s seitansai committee prepared trivia questions on the first row of audience seats). There is a question, “How many times have you had your seitansai since being an active member?”I was wondering how many times and on the strawberry answer sheet it is written that it is my 9th times.
However, I also had once when I was a trainee which means that I already had 10 in total. Probably. I couldn’t believe that people already celebrated my seitansai for the 10th times.
26th… I have entered my 10th year in this group and how I should go on from this point.
Of course, I have been thinking about it.
First of all, I would like to do various jobs. It might sound typical, but when I was 25 I was also thinking, “should it be alright?” Last year I thought that I couldn’t do well in many things and I was hesitant to do some of the jobs. Therefore, this year I would like to accept any kinds of offer without hesitation. Thank you very much. Hence, I am waiting for job offers! Looking forward to them and please continue to support me.
Of course, there is a part of me which couldn’t believe that I’ve turned 26. I tried to tell myself that I’m still in my twenties, I don’t want to set a limit to myself this year and I will work very hard this year. Minegishi-san’s graduation stage has yet to be decided but once she graduates I’ll be the oldest member in Team K. I would like to be a senior who could teach my juniors and leaves a legacy.
I’m not really good at that, but I would stop saying that I’m not good at it. This year I would like to do something for Team K and my juniors.
Also, I, myself, had always been thinking, “this time might be my last seitansai”. But every time it reaches summer I tend to think that “I’m also going to do it this year” and it is always like this every year.I am not sure how many times it repeats like that.
But this year, I feel that I will also do it next year. Therefore, it’s alright. No need to worry. I will not graduate anytime soon.
There are people who recently support me or people who always support me for a long time. I hope they can continue to gently watch and support me.
It has been difficult to meet these days. This time I could see your faces, but I should not take it for granted. I’m extremely happy to see your faces today. I hope someday we can meet again, but I would like also to be an idol who can give you power and energy through SNS and screens. Please continue to support me.

Aikyan’s 25th Birthday Stream Roundup: Tons of new content!
Over 70,000 unique viewers joined Aikyan this morning in counting down to her 25th birthday! It was just an hour, but it was jam packed with all sorts of fun surprises. In case you missed it, here’s a rundown of everything we got:
1. A special birthday slideshow
While Aikyan was reading letters and answering questions, a slideshow of pictures of her growing up played on the side of the screen. These photos were selected and sent in by her mom, and cover almost all of her life, up to when she was in vocational school. Here’s a few of them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. A huge cake
The production staff surprised her with a Aikyan-themed birthday cake!
Tumblr media
Holy moly it’s huge. All the pictures are from her magazine specials and photo shoots. She had a taste of both the cake and the pictures of her that were printed out on some edible substance. Apparently, she was delicious.
3. Special guests
Three surprise guests appeared on stream to wish Aikyan a happy birthday!
Serizawa Yuu!
Tumblr media
Kinchan’s best friend is also apparently good friends with Aikyan! She appeared in this special video that was played for the first time for on stream, and talked about her fond memories with Aikyan and what she likes about her.
Komori Misae!
Tumblr media
Another video recording. These two also met through Kinchan, and although they were a little shy at first, they became good friends over time.
And just after the clock hit midnight, the final guest appeared in person!
MARiA from GARNiDELiA!
Tumblr media
As many of you might know, these two have been friends since 2011 when they first did the OP/ED for Freezing. MARiA even brought a present for Aikyan, and she also tasted some of the cake decorations. She agrees that Aikyan is delicious.
And last but not least, the reason why everyone was watching the stream in the first place:
4. Three huge announcements!
To close out the stream, we got three major announcements for Aikyan’s career. Today was truly a blessed day.
Tumblr media
Aikyan’s first photobook will be released on Tuesday, December 11th!
My prediction was right and the meme has finally come true. As with most photobooks, expect this one to cost around 4000-5000 yen before shipping, and for it to have special pre-order bonuses (bromides, posters or tapestries) depending on the store you buy it from.
A release event will also be held on December 16th! Details on location and how to enter the chuusen for tickets will announced by My Girl at a later date.
A small preview of the book will also be in the November issue of My Girl, volume 25. My Girl tweeted out a teaser pic:
Tumblr media
My hopes are high and my wallet is ready.
Tumblr media
Aikyan’s personal fan club, “AND”, will open on December 5th!
This was definitely a huge surprise. No details on cost or whether foreigners will be able to join, but we’ll keep you updated when that information becomes available.
Tumblr media
Aikyan will be hosting the mini-corner for My Girl meets A-Koe throughout November and December!
These are weekly thirty minute radio segments hosted on abema.tv, so if you want to tune in, grab a VPN that doesn’t suck and tune in. She’ll be on the program for eight weeks! Now I have stuff to sub that isn’t paywalled.
And that was it for the birthday stream. If you want to watch the VOD for yourself, head over to Abema’s site where you can watch a timeshifted version of it.

Wrestle Kingdom 16 Day 3 preview
It's become customary for Wrestle Kingdom to run across January 4 and 5, but this year we get yet another show. The third event, however, will be a little different. It's in Yokohama Arena instead of the Tokyo Dome. It's being broadcast on a different provider, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Japanese Red Cross. And it's a special interpromotional event, pitting New Japan against Pro Wrestling NOAH.
The January 8 kicks off at 2am EST, Friday night/Saturday morning. The only way to catch it live is to order it on pay-per-view though AbemaTV for about 3690 yen (roughly $34.28 US). The exact price is a little unclear because you have to pay real money for "Abema coins," and then spend 3300 of those on the show. Once you order the show, you can watch it on-demand for about two weeks before it's moved to a premium area. If this all sounds confusing you may want to check out this guide on how to order.
If you don't want to fool with Abema (and I don't blame you), don't fret. A week after the show, New Japan and Noah will both add it to their streaming sites. NJPW World is 999 yen ($8.65 US) for one month, and Wrestle Universe is 900 yen ($7.79 US) per month.
I know very little about Noah, so this isn't going to be terribly in-depth. To keep things straight, I'm marking the names of Noah wrestlers in their signature color, green.
Kazuchika Okada & Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Keiji Muto & Kiyomiya Kaito - Okada is the leader of CHAOS and the IWGP world heavyweight champion. Tanahashi is the IWGP United States champion and the leader of New Japan's hontai (home unit), which is generally friendly with Chaos these days. Muto and Kaito are members of M's Alliance. Muto is one of the GHC tag team champions, but he's far better known worldwide as The Great Muta. A 59-year-old legend, Muto has held the top titles in New Japan, All Japan, Noah, and the NWA.
There isn't a lot of storytelling leading into the matches on this show. Kiyomiya, a rising young star, reminds Tanahashi of himself at that age. As it happens, when Tana was that age, he had some battles with Muto. So he has a chance to prove himself against both the new generation and the last. As for Okada, I don't get the impression he's taking the Noah side all that seriously, but then again it's pretty standard for Okada to be dismissive of his opponents going into a match.
It's hard to pick winners without knowing if this New Japan/Noah crossover is leading to anything in the future. If this is a one-and-done, it probably won't matter much who wins, although New Japan is the company that booked the building so I assume their guys will get the last word. But if they're building to future interpromotional matches, it would make sense to shock the world by letting Kiyomiya score an upset on either Okada or Tanahashi.
Tetsuya Naito & Shingo Takagi & Hiromu Takahashi & SANADA & BUSHI vs. Kenoh & Katsuhiko Nakajima & Manabu Soya & Tadasuke & ALEJA - Naito's team is Los Ingobernables de Japon; Kenoh's team are part of KONGO. Nakajima is the GHC heavyweight champion, and Kenoh is the GHC national champion. At the time this match was booked, Takagi was the IWGP world champion, and there was a war of words between him and Nakajima. So I expect a lot of tension here.
I don't know anything about Kongo or its members, but they stood out to me when Noah "invaded" the January 5 show. Everybody was decked out in black-and-green Noah shirts, except the Kongo guys were wearing bright red. I can tell you don't want to fuck around with these dudes. I also know LIJ doesn't give a shit who they shouldn't fuck around with. So this should be fun.
I'm assuming there will be a certain parity to the finishes on this show. It figures that the top two NJPW champions will win in the main event, and the top two Noah champions will win in this match.
Zack Sabre Jr. & Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Naomichi Marufuji & Yoshinari Ogawa - Marufuji (of M's Alliance) is one of the GHC tag team champions, and Ogawa (from Stinger) is one of the GHC junior heavyweight tag team champions. Sabre and Kanemaru are from Suzuki-gun; Sabre is part of a top heavyweight tag team, and Kanemaru is part of a top junior team.
Marufuji is one of the few Noah guys I'm kind of familiar with, since he was involved in the last NJPW/Noah storyline a few years back. He's more or less their equivalent to Tanahashi, in that he's been their "ace" but he's also getting on in years. I'm pretty sure he's in this match and not the main event so that he can get a win, probably by pinning Kanemaru.
EVIL & Dick Togo vs. Go Shiozaki & Masa Kitamiya - Evil is the NEVER openweight champion and one of the NEVER trios champions. He and Togo are part of the House of Torture, a particularly nasty sub-unit of Bullet Club. Shiozaki and Kitamiya are in the Noah home unit, and I presume that means they're straight-up babyfaces. So everybody's going to be rooting for them to win this, because nobody likes the House of Torture.
If this goes like every other Evil match in the past two years, the House of Torture will do almost nothing but cheat and pull cheap shots to kill the crowd. If I was Shiozaki or Kitamiya, I wouldn't particularly want my big interpromotional match to go down like that. So maybe things will be different, just this once? I won't count on it. I'll pick Evil and Togo to win to reduce my inevitable disappointment.
Minoru Suzuki & Taichi & TAKA Michinoku vs. Takashi Sugiura & Kazuchi Sakuraba & ??? - Suzuki's team represents Suzuki-gun, and Sugiura's team represents Sugiura-gun, so that's pretty straightforward. The third man on the Sugiura-gun team was originally scheduled to be KENTA, which was interesting because he has a long history with Noah but he's been with New Japan since 2019. But Kenta had to be pulled due to injuries sustained on January 5. His replacement will not be named until the match begins, and it's anyone's guess if that man will be from NJPW or Noah.
For a few years, Suzuki-gun completely disappeared from New Japan to "invade" Noah. I don't know all the details, but Sugiura turned heel to join the group, only to turn again and help Noah run Suzuki-gun out of town. So that sets up a pretty good story right there, and we don't even know who the sixth man in the match will be.
I think Suzuki-gun will win this match, but it's tough to be sure, especially without knowing if the mystery partner will be really good or just some young boy.
El Desperado & DOUKI vs. YO-HEY & NOSAWA RONGAI - Despy (the IWGP junior heavyweight champion) and Douki are from Suzuki-Gun. Yo-Hey and Nosawa represent Perros Del Mal de Japon, which is a spinoff of a notorious Mexican faction, sort of like LIJ. Douki and Despy have each spent a lot of time in Mexico, so I gather they've had some run-ins with Perros Del Mal in one form or another. Hopefully this will be a good evenly-fought matchup between four total hooligans. I'll give the edge to Yo-Hey and Nosawa, since Douki is definitely a weak link for the other team.
Taiji Ishimori & Gedo vs. HAYATA & Seiki Yoshioka - Ishimori and Gedo are from Bullet Club. Hayata and Yoshioka represent the Stinger faction; Hayata is a co-holder of the GHC junior heavyweight tag team championship. This match is apparently built around old history between Ishimori and Hayata, before Taiji jumped to New Japan. Again, Gedo is a weak link, and I think that gives Noah another win.
SHO vs. Atsushi Kotoge - Sho is with the House of Torture, and Kotoge is in Noah's home unit. Even New Japan's website couldn't think of much to say about this one. I expect another House of Torture victory to piss everyone off.
Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI & Tomohiro Ishii & Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato vs. Daisuke Harada & Hajime Ohara & Daiki Inaba & Yoshiki Inamura & Kinya Okada - Goto and Yoshi (the IWGP heavyweight tag team champions) and Ishii are mainstays in CHAOS. Taguchi and Wato are part of New Japan's home unit. Their opponents are all aligned with Noah's home unit.
Yuji Nagata & Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. King Tany & Muhammad Yone & Akitoshi Saito - This is scheduled for the pre-show. Tany's team represents the Funky Express stable, which stuck out like a sore thumb when the Noah guys appeared on the January 5 show. I'm hoping they'll be a lot of fun. Nagata's team represents the NJPW home unit, and more specifically the "third generation," who had their best years in the late 90s and early 2000s. So this match is "old guys" vs. "old guys having a mid-life crisis." I don't know who'll win, but I'm rooting for the Funky Bunch.
Kosei Fujita vs. Yasutaka Yano - This is also on the pre-show. Both New Japan and Noah have a developmental system where young rookies learn their craft by wrestling each other in the prelim matches. So this is a battle of the young boys, with Fujita representing New Japan and Yano representing Noah.
On paper it shouldn't matter who wins this battle of rookie jobbers. But since this is a nine-match show, one side could pick up five wins while the other only gets four. So if you're Fujita or Yano, you don't want to be the kid who got your side on the wrong start. Regardless, I think there's a good chance this one could go to a time limit draw, just to put both guys through their paces.

2022-05-05 “Day off?” Hayakawa Seira blog [ENG]
Everyone, Hello!
I’m 21 year old Hayakawa Seira from Osaka. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance ☺︎
How did you spend your long vacation??
The other day, the quietness of the morning compared with the busyness of the afternoon made me really feel the holiday for the first time. Everyone did you enjoy your holiday as much as possible??
There are definitely people who are not on holiday today aren’t there. Thank you for your continued hard work.
The weather is nice, the laundry has dried and it felt so good to wake up this morning I’m so glad. ☺︎
Recently, everyday we’re heading closer and closer towards the 10th YEAR BIRTHDAY LIVE which is next weekend.
I’ve been unable to participate in rehearsals and it’s been very difficult, but I want people to enjoy that wonderful time during the concert and I didn’t think that I would be able to be a part of the concert at Nissan Stadium but I’m so thankful and I’ll work hard every day until then.
During the practices, the 5th generation members have so much to learn and I can see them struggling at times, it reminds me of when I first started.
I need to continue to do my best while never forgetting about when I first started.
I went to meet some of the new 5th generation members on break during the online meet and greet. Everyone called out to me and was like ‘Serra-san’
They’re so friendly and cute ☺︎
I want to become closer to them.
This my first time taking pictures with my junior members.
I took it in a dark place so the image quality is a little bad, I’m sorry. It’s Ioki-chan. She’s cute ☺︎And like me when I first started she often does a side ponytail.
I took pictures with the other members but I regret not taking them with my phone. T T
They’ve also had many rehearsals for Nogizaka Star Tanjou and I thought it would be very difficult for them and so I thought I would try helping them out but I couldn’t really figure out how I should help them and so I thought maybe I should just watch of them for now. Being a senior member is difficult…
Thank you to everyone that came to the online meet and greet.
This time I wore a lot of Spring patterned clothes.

Is what I wore
There’s also another meet and greet this weekend, I’m still thinking about what I should wear. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone. Please look after me
On top of that, my Nogizaka jobs are coinciding with my musical practice.
Two days ago, we started real practice with blocking, I was overwhelmed by the acting and vocal abilities of the other cast member. They’re also amazing!
I’m so glad to be a part of this amazing work.
But, there’s still a lot that I have to learn, so I need to make sure to stay strong and not falter to my own weaknesses. By speaking with the other cast members my nerves and anxiety have slowly started to disappear. It’s thanks to how kind everyone is.
I’m kind of vexed and irritated that I can’t put all of my concentration and focus in on practice due to the current circumstances, it’s something that the other senior members have overcome before, so I need to do the best that I can.
If you like, please continue to support me ☺︎
I put a really easy to understand sticker on the cover of my sheet music. It’s good isn’t it.
I’m going to do my best.

Wrestle Kingdom 16 in Yokohama Arena NJPW v. NOAH - 1/8/2022: KENTA Out Due To Injury
Tumblr media
Last night/earlier this morning was Wrestle Kingdom 16 in Yokohama Arena, the first ever Wrestle Kingdom branded event outside of the Tokyo Dome. This was also the scene of an NJPW v. NOAH co-promoted card, the first such co-promotion between the two companies since NOAH was purchased by Estbee in 2016; NOAH has changed ownership twice since that time. The show was only available via PPV on ABEMA, but will be on both NJPWWorld and Wrestle Universe within a week.
The night before, NJPW announced KENTA had heinously injured himself in his No-DQ match against Hiroshi Tanahashi, suffering a dislocated hip, broken nose, multiple contusions, and more. He’s going to be Out for A While. A mystery opponent fill-in was announced and, well... read on.
Wrestle Kingdom 16 in Yokohama Arena - 1/8/2022, Kanagawa Yokohama Arena (ABEMA PPV; NJPWWorld on tape delay)
Kosei Fujita TLD Yasutaka Yano (10:00)
Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima & Yuji Nagata d. King Tany, Muhammad Yone & Akitoshi Saito (Kojima > Tany, lariat, 12:18)
Tomohiro Ishii [CHAOS], Hirooki Goto [CHAOS], YOSHI-HASHI [CHAOS], Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato d. Daisuke Harada, Hajime Ohara, Daiki Inaba, Yoshiki Inamura & Kinya Okada (YOSHI-HASHI > Okada, Boston Crab, 11:42)
SHO [Bullet Club] d. Atsushi Kotoge [STINGER] (Pinfall after hit with wrench, 8:20)
HAYATA & Seiki Yoshioka [STINGER] d. Taiji Ishimori & Gedo [Bullet Club] (HAYATA > Gedo, Headache, 5:59)
El Desperado & DOUKI [SZKG] d. YO-HEY & NOSAWA Rongai [Perros del Mal de Japon] (Desperado > Rongai, Pinche Loco, 9:09)
Takashi Sugiura [Sugiura-gun], Kazushi Sakuraba [Sugiura-gun] & Toru Yano [CHAOS] d. Minoru Suzuki [SZKG], Taichi [SZKG] & TAKA Michinoku [JTO] (Sugiura > TAKA, Olympic Qualifying Slam, 9:37)
Go Shiozaki & Masa Kitamiya d. EVIL & Dick Togo [Bullet Club] (Shiozaki > Togo, lariat, 9:53)
Naomichi Marufuji [M’s Alliance] & Yoshinari Ogawa [STINGER] d. Zack Sabre Jr. & Yoshinobu Kanemaru [SZKG] (Marufuji > Kanemaru, Shiranui, 15:20)
Shingo Takagi, Tetsuya Naito, SANADA, Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI [Los Ingobernables] d. Katsuhiko Nakajima, Kenoh, Manabu Soya, Tadasuke & ALEJA [KONGO] (Shingo > Tadasuke, Last Of The Dragon, 26:33)
Hiroshi Tanahashi & Kazuchika Okada [CHAOS] d. Keiji Muto [M’s Alliance] & Kaito Kiyomiya (Okada > Kiyomiya, Rainmaker, 24:34)
NJPW wins the series over NOAH, 6-4-1. There really shouldn’t be any surprises here; the matches were won by the sides expected, if one were to read the booking.
NOAH acquitted themselves well during the show. Kaito Kiyomiya definitely earned himself a singles match against Okada, Kiyomiya inconsolably tearful post-main (Muto tried to console him at least), reminiscent of Okada crying after the main of WK9 versus Tanahashi. The LIJ v. Kongo match, which would semi-main, got maybe the loudest reactions of the night, the crowd breaking the no-yelling COVID-19 protocol at the beginning of the match, when Tetsuya Naito and Katsuhiko Nakajima first faced off. That match is well worth going out of your way to see.
Actually, the whole show was very enjoyable, and I would recommend this one over all of the shows from Wrestle Kingdom 16 week. The only truly bad part was the interminable House Of Torture bullshit -- it was needless during SHO v. Kotoge, and really, Masa Kitamiya showed a path for the NJPW babyfaces to deal with House Of Torture, which is to just beat the crap out of them. It worked for Kitamiya/Shiozaki, anyway. If there’s one thing I learned from this show, we need less Houses of Torture and more Funky Expresses in our wrestling.
Sugiura-gun’s new mystery partner was none other than Toru Yano, which makes a lot of sense, given his history with Kazushi Sakuraba, NOAH and Suzuki-gun. It was a pretty enjoyable match, and KENTA himself even tweeted out his approval of Yano as his fill-in.
Many of the matches were seeped in Pro Wrestling NOAH lore and history, specifically Suzuki- v. Sugiura-guns, and most of the matches involving juniors. To wit, none of Naomichi Marufuji, Zack Sabre Jr. or Yoshinobu Kanemaru may have been in that ring without Yoshinari Ogawa to begin with. But there was also Despy/DOUKI v. NOSAWA/YO-HEY, with the latter tandem being part of Perros del Mal de Japon, whilst DOUKI was part of the actual Perros del Mal in Mexico. Nice bits to call back upon there.
There were issues at the very beginning of the main card with both the Japanese and English ABEMA streams. The Japanese ones resolved themselves quicker. I saw a tweet from NJPW talking about refunds but no specifics. Really, it ended up not being a Thing, and by the time my stream came back, we had Ishii facing off against the Massive Tank known as Yoshiki Inamura so really I can’t complain too much.
There were some complaints online through the night about “politics” -- if NJPW putting itself over on a card promoted by NJPW during NJPW’s 50th Anniversary year is going to create a problem then I just don’t know what to tell you. ( I saw one comparison to the Giant Baba memorial show from 2019 as to how the main event of this show “should” have gone... where, in the main event, an AJPW wrestler pinned another AJPW wrestler in an AJPW-promoted event, so not sure that comparison really holds.) There was also the case of a pretty well known journalist loudly complaining and asking questions about how to watch the show and what ABEMA actually was, all of which were easily answered if one had looked at NJPW’s English site any time in the last two months, but hey, what do I know.
Overall, yes, watch this show. You will not regret it one bit, and was a perfect advertisement for both NJPW and Pro Wrestling NOAH.
The next show for NJPW is on 1/20/2022, the first date of the New Year’s Golden Series. Nothing has been announced for that tour yet. NOAH ran a show yesterday, but that’s going to have to wait until tomorrow for me to report on it. I dunno, I may have bitten off more than I can chew with this new format, especially since I am going back to work next week. It’s one thing when on a vacation, when trying to do the Day Job quite another. We shall see tho. There’s a lot of shows today too, with Dragon Gate, DDT, STARDOM and Sendai Girls all running; AJPW and Dragon Gate run tomorrow that I know of too. It’s a lot!
