The doors hiss open.
Cold air brushes against my skin, sterile and sharp. It smells like metal and false promises.
Bootsteps. Heavy. Slow. Familiar.
"Well, I'll be damned," he says, his voice full of mockery. "Didn't expect you to show up alone. No blue entourage?"
I stay silent. Jaw clenched.
He steps into view, that confident smirk like a scar that never healed. "If I knew it'd take your sister dying slowly to bring you crawling back... hell, I'd have done it sooner."
My breath catches. I glare at him, forcing the words out through gritted teeth. "I'm here for her. Help me, and I'll agree to whatever you want."
His laugh rings in the air, cold and sharp. "Always the hero, huh?" He leans closer, eyes narrowing. "You'll agree as long as she gets what she needs. That's the deal, right?"
I don't flinch, but the guilt pulses louder than his voice, "I just need you to help her."
He studies me for a long beat. Then, with a half-shrug and a look, he motions toward the door. The deal already struck, "She'll get what she needs Jake," he says, voice low. "And you'll get what you need."
"No one needs to know Quaritch."
"No one will, Sully."
I nod once, the weight of the agreement sinking into my bones, like my old uniform.
The RDA corridors blur behind me as I move toward the Avatar compound. The cold subsides, but not from the air, from me. The shift between these two worlds is more than physical.
One side is military grade boots and loaded weapons. The other, white coats, blinking monitors and clinical hope.
I move past the techs without a word. They don't look at me, just keep tapping away at screens. My eyes fixed to a pod.
Y/n's pod.
She hasn't opened her eyes since it happened. Wires curl across her body like vines from a dying forest, clinging, invasive, unnatural. Her eyes twitch, like she wants to open them but is trapped.
"Signs of deep divergence. Her mind's anchoring where it shouldn't," a tech mutters nearby while monitoring her brain scans.
I swallow hard. My mind racing with only one thought.
She was right.
We don't belong here.
A hand lands on my shoulders, Grace.
"Hey," she says gently. "You ready to link back up, Marine?" Her eyes flicker to the pod. She knows where I've been staring.
I don't answer right away. I watch the monitors, watching her. the heart monitor blinks steady. Her eyelids twitch like she's caught in a storm and can't wake up.
"Check her vitals again," I say quietly. "Make sure she's holding on."
"Will do," Grace says quietly. I climb into the pod, the lid starting to lower.
Just before it seals, she says, "Jake.. check on here. Over there."
I close my eyes and sink back into the world we chose.

Learning to ride an ikran, we call 'em banshees, is the test every young hunter has to pass. But to do that, you gotta go where the banshees are.
The climb is brutal. My fingers burn with every grasp of the coarse, slick vines. The cliffs loom above me, endless. Below is just sky and certain death.
The wind howls past, dragging my braids behind me, slicing cold across my skin, whispering warnings in every gust.
I glance down. Jake grunts a few feet below, sweat beading on his brow, jaw clenched. "I'm gonna fall before we even get to the dangerous part." he mutters.
"Keep climbing." Tsu'tey calls down. His voice crisp, unbothered. His silhouette is certain, fluid. Moving like the mountain was carved for him.
Jake and I climb, not like Na'vi, like outsiders. Strong sure, but clumsy. We're used to metal gym floors, not vine draped cliffs and sheer wind tunnels. Our bodies are strong in this form, but the mountain demands more than muscle. It demands grace.
I grit my teeth and continue the climb anyway.
By the time I reach the top, my arms tremble, lungs burning. I haul myself over the ledge and collapse onto the stone, chest heaving.
The Hallelujah Mountains —Ayawa Ikran stretch out in all different directions before me, surreal and sacred. The waterfall spills into the open sky. Wind curls around us like a spirit.
Neytiri ululates as she lands beside us with her ikran, her face calm.
Then I see them, ikrans.
Massive. Primal. Wild.
Talons grip the stone. Wings twitch, ready to launch. Eyes gleaming with warning. They watch me, waiting.
"Which Sully will go first?" Tsu'tey asks, a smirk tugging at his mouth.
I glance at Jake, "I guess I can do it."
"You go alone," Neytiri says softly. "They must choose you."
I move through them slowly. Careful. Each step calculated.
One by one, the ikran's screech and take off, wings cracking the air. Until only one remains.
It outstretches it's wings in defence. I lock eyes with it.
It's body glows a deep teal, lightning-like orange streaks webbing across its back and it's wing like etched fire. Sky-blue tips shimmer like sharpened glass. Crimson flashes at it's joints like exposed muscle.
It's face is carved from steel blue bone. Coppery red beak. Gold eyes fixated on me.
I remembered what Tsu'tey had told me the night he told me the night before, "You will know it picked you... because it will try to kill you."
Then it lunges.
I dive away just in time. It's wing clips me I slam against a stone, the wind knocked out of me, gasping. Pain shoots through my ribs.
I scramble up, heart pounding, vision spinning.
I swing the lasso.
I miss.
It shrieks, charges.
I roll away, ribs screaming. It slams into me, pinning me down. Talons tear across my arms, sharp, hot pain. Blood spills. The other ikrans scatter, screeching and launching skyward.
I thrash beneath it, trying to free my arms out of its talons. I draw my knees up and kick hard.
I hiss— my first real one.
The sound shocks me.
Tsu'tey's voice thunders from the edge, "Make the bond!"
The beast snarls back, louder, furious.
Tsu'tey throws the replacement lasso. It sails through the air and lands next to my pinned down open hands. Reaching for it I snatch it, loop fast, trying to hold on.
The lasso snaps loose.
It barrels into me, we roll.
Falling off the edge.
"Y/n!" Jake yells.
"Tsahaylu!" Neytiri's voice cuts through the chaos.
Air screams past my ears. Rocks blur. My stomach lurches. We're falling, too fast, too far
Still fighting I claw at it's queue my fingers fumbling, slick with blood. It twists. We spiral.
I grab the tendrils. We connect.
Her panic floods into me like a wave. Her heart pounding like a war drum. Her instincts. Her wings shudder, no control. She's fighting. Thrashing. The panic isn't just hers anymore. It's mine.
We're spiralling together, two creatures locked in one freefall
I try pour calm through the bond— "It's okay. I've got you." I whisper to to her. The wind roars. The ground races up.
Her wings snap open, hard. The air catches. We jolt upward, bodies lurching, but we don't crash.
We rise.
I can feel her, the weight of her wings, the push of the wind under us, the wild rhythm of her heart syncing with mine.
She's still afraid, but she trusts me.
She chose me.
And I chose her.
I did it.
-
The Na'vi say that every person is born twice. The second time is when you earn your place among The People, forever.
"You, are now children of the Omaticaya." Eytukan's voice holds a weight I can almost feel pressing down on me. A slight smile tugs at his lips.
Jake stands to my left, Neytiri beside him. I catch Jake's eyes and offer a small smile. He returns it, grinning like a fool, before mouthing "Oora" and for a moment, it feel like home.
The hands of the Omaticaya rest on my shoulders, strong, steady. Then Tsu'tey's hand settles on me from behind. The weight heavy, real. A quiet pulse of accomplishment stirs within me.
My eyes sweep across the crowd, elders welcome us, children wide eyed with curiosity, no judgement, only acceptance. The kind of acceptance that makes you want to breathe deeper, even when it feels impossible.
The forest darkens, but the celebrations burst into life. Firelight dances on faces and the sounds of children's laughter fills the space between the trees. The Omaticaya dance around the fire as the sounds of drums play.
I get pulled into the dance, the sounds of laughter and cheering from the other Na'vi as they watch me join them. The rhythm pounds beneath my skin, and I mimic the graceful moves of the women around me, knowing I stumble but letting the joy wash over me anyways.
A laugh bubbles up, light. My gaze flickers toward the treeline. Neytiri and Jake slip away, vanishing into the shadows, away from the fire, away from the attention.
I don't follow, don't ask questions, paying no mind to them. Instead I lose myself in the moment, free, moving breathing. It takes me back, back to the cramped shack we called a home, where Tommy and I danced, the air thick with hope and reckless joy.
I remember Tommy spinning Jakes wheelchair, Jake cursing him out and laughing, all of us tangled in a mess of life and love.
Tommy would've loved this night. I can see him practicing the steps, waiting for the right moment to shine.
Slowly I drift away from the fire, away from the celebration. Away from The People.
Through the glowing flora. To the stream.
Kneeling, I look down at my reflection.
The reflection wavers with the ripples of the stream.
Golden eyes. Blue skin. Stare back at me.
Alien.
I'm starting to forget who I am.
What colour is my skin, after not stepping outside for months in my human body— my real body?
Was my hair longer now? Or was it more matted, considering I've been laying in that pod for months now.
Did I smile like this?
Did my hearing used to be this sharp?
Did I see this clearly?
Didn't my hands feel softer than this?
Did I like the way I looked?
Did I used to breathe this easily... or did I just forget the weight of the mask?
Did I
Did I ever feel this strong before?
Did Jake even notice I stopped asking about her— me.
Did I disappear the moment I didn't wake up?
Did my brain choose to stay here?
Did I choose this deep down?
Did my head always feel this loud when it's quiet?
Did I always wake up not knowing if I was asleep?
Did the headaches start before I stayed too long... or after?
Did I hear a voice in my head that wasn't mine?
Did I used to feel... this far away?
Did I lose myself the moment the bond held longer than it should have?
Did my brain severe the connection?
Did it?
"I don't want to forget." I whisper.
The water reflects grief.
"I don't want to be only this."
Leaves rustle behind me—
Tsutey.
"You look like someone mourning your own celebration."
I say nothing.
He steps forward but doesn't sit, not yet.
"Why me?" The words choke out, directed like a dagger aimed at him.
"Why!" I slap the water, shattering my reflection as tears roll down my face.
Silence.
"I don't even remember my own face," I whisper to myself, shutting my eyes.
I feel Tsu'tey walk beside me before kneeling. "Eywa does not choose lightly. You are meant to be here."
"I didn't ask to be."
"But you are."
He looks at the stream. "Your past lives in you. Not your skin."
His voice is steady. Quiet. Genuine. Not the cocky warrior who called me a demon everyday straight just a month ago.
We sit in silence for a long while, the sounds of distant celebration behind us.
Then he stands and offers you his hand. I don't say anything as we walk back to the hometree together. The firelight illuminating the edge of my sorrows.
This time, as the drums rise again, Tsu'tey does not vanish into the shadows. He stands with me, close, not touching but present.
"You are good at the dance of The People." He says softly trying to cheer me up.
I arch a brow. "You saw me dancing the whole time?"
"I've always seen you." I smile at that happy that he admitted it not knowing the underlying tones of the words that he just uttered.
He smiles. It's small. Barely there, but it's real.
He turns before I can say anything more to him.
I don't chase him, just watch as he moves back to his hunting friends, his stoic expression slips back into place.
Turning back to the celebration the firelight reflects across my face, the warm night bringing every one together.
"I'm one of The People," I whisper.

Orphic (Pt. 8)
pairing; Ao'nung x Sully!reader Orphic; (adj.) mysterious and entrancing; beyond ordinary understanding words; 3,949 warnings; sadness, gets a little steamy but tbh not really Pt. 1; Pt. 2; Pt. 3; Pt. 4; Pt. 5; Pt. 6; My writing is a little different towards the end of this, because I went down a rabbit hole and used all kinds of tips and trick to write it. it's not perfect, and I don't feel like it's my writing but I'll get used to it. Hopefully I can apply those tricks to my future writing. Anywho look at me posting again >:)

Y/n had noticed L’oa. Of course she had. In the month or so her relationship has been estranged with Ao’nung, all she’s done is notice L’oa. She stepped in, stole her place to keep Ao’nung warm. It’s difficult for Y/n to remember that she’s the one that left that spot empty, and it’s her fault, not L’oa’s. But it doesn’t stop insecurity from bubbling up in her stomach everytime the girl is around. She’s so soft, and feminine, and perfect. Y/n is just not, in her eyes. She doesn’t consider herself a jealous person either, she’s never really had the need to be jealous. But when L’oa’s hand slides down Ao’nung’s arm, she wants to march over there and pull her away, then kiss Ao’nung and claim what’s hers. What was hers.
She sighs softly as she watches her siblings play in the water. They laugh and hiss as they splash water at each other, seemingly not a care in the world. She wishes she had the energy to join them, but she just can’t. It hurts too much to have fun without him. To smile while she knows she’s killed his.
“Well, haven’t you heard? They’re planning on mating tonight.” Two young Na’vi men walk past slowly, talking rather loudly.
“Ao’nung and L’oa? Really?” Y/n’s ears perk up at his name, and she focuses in on the conversation.
The first boy nods, “Yeah, I heard the Tsahik speaking to him about it. She said that at first she was fine with giving them time -whatever that means- but now she isn’t. She wants them to mate soon.”
The second boy hums softly, and by now their out of ear shot. Y/n’s ears flatten as she frowns, her eyes stinging with tears. She inhales, she doesn’t need more tears. She’s losing Ao’nung, for good, now. After he mates with L’oa, there’s no going back. But her heart beats strong, a small glimmer of hope giving it power. Ronal chose L’oa for Ao’nung. He didn’t choose her.
However, in the end Y/n knows that she won’t go to him. She won’t beg for his forgiveness, and ask him to choose her, because she chooses him. Ronal would skin her if she ruined her pairing, and she needs to protect her family. They’ve found a home here. Y/n would never forgive herself if she was the reason they lost it.
The sky darkens slowly, and Y/n watches the soft hues of pink and orange morph into each other. She imagines she was here with Ao’nung right now. He’d sit next to her, and probably hold her hand. Or maybe he’d sit so close their thighs touched, and she could rest her head on his shoulder. He’d listen to her rant, and smile, and look at her with that look no one else can describe but as pure love. Neteyam had once described it as the way their father looks at their mother, and Y/n had immediately thought that she must’ve found the one then.
There’s soft murmurs to the side, and she glances over. Her heart drops as she sees Ao’nung and L’oa. They seem uncomfortable, probably because the rumor of them likely mating after the eclipse had spread across the village. Everyone was talking about it. In a fit of fate, their eyes meet. She looks at Ao’nung, her brows furrowing sadly. His expression is unreadable as he gazes at her, his heart longing. They stare at each other for what feels like forever. It’s almost as if he’s waiting for her to come to him, and tell him she didn’t mean anything and she’s sorry.
Shockingly for both of them, she does. She doesn’t think twice when she stands, and walks quickly over. She glances at L’oa, eyes begging for just a moment. L’oa’s ears flatten, and her face falls as she nods. She turns and walks a good distance, giving them space. Y/n looks at Ao’nung, unsure of what to say. She glances down momentarily, and the small bit of hope in her heart grows. He’s wearing her necklace. She’s wearing his, as well.
“I-” Her voice dies, and Ao’nung waits patiently for her to continue. “Hi.” She mentally curses herself.
His face falls, “That’s all you have to say?”
Y/n exhales, “No. Just figured I get greetings out of the way first.”
The corner of his lips twitch up, but they fall just as quick, “You did good.”
“I know.” She nods, she glances at L’oa’s figure. “Are the rumors true?”
Ao’nung pauses as clouds gather above them, dark and angry, “What rumors?”
She raises a brow, “You know what rumors I’m talking about.” She shuffles in the sand, feeling her confidence slowly dwindle.
He sighs deeply, “They are.”
Her ears twitch downwards, and she bites the inside of her cheek roughly, “You guys will be a mated pair by sunrise?”
He swallows thickly as he nods, “Yeah, I guess so.” Rain starts to trickle down from the sky, and it gets significantly darker as the sun dips below the horizon.
Y/n’s stomach churns as she meets his eyes once again, “Do you like her?”
Ao’nung shrugs, “My mother does.”
“But do you?” She presses.
Ao’nung scoffs softly, “You’re the one that left me, Y/n. What does it matter if I like L’oa now? You shouldn’t care.”
Y/n winces, exhaling, the rain stings her eyes, or that’s what she’d like to believe. “Yeah, I shouldn’t.”
He stares at her in silence for a moment, searching her eyes, “But you do.” His voice is almost drowned out by the pounding rain and aggressive waves.
She nods, “I definitely do.”
He shakes his head, running his hand through his hair, it was down for once, “That’s not fair, Y/n. It’s been a month- I’ve been trying to put you behind me. Because even though I don’t believe you don’t care about me, you still left. And I’ve respected that choice, and I let it happen. You can’t come back to me now.”
Her throat closes, and her lip wobbles, “I’m not coming back. I was just asking questions.”
“Bullshit.” He mutters, shaking his head. There’s another moment of silence between them, and his face softens. He gently lifts her chin, then rests his hand on her cheek. “Ask me not to mate with her. And I won’t go through with it.” He whispers, barely audible. “Ask me not to, Y/n. Ask.”
Her heart pounds against her chest as she thinks over her choices. She wants nothing more than to just give in and kiss him right there. But her mind flashes to Ronal, and her threat of kicking her family out, and she can’t do it. Imagining her siblings having to pack their things for a second time, and leave their new home, is excruciating just to think about. A tear falls down her cheek, mixed in with the water droplets from above.
“I can’t.” She whispers, pulling away from him. “I’m sorry, I can’t. Go to her. You're hers.” Her voice breaks, and she hugs herself. She’s giving him up completely. For good.
Ao’nung wipes his cheek quickly, and her heart breaks as she realizes he was crying too. He turns and starts walking back to L’oa, his shoulders trembling. Y/n’s face scrunches in pain and she watches L’oa hug Ao’nung, and the two of them leave quickly. Their direction is towards a common mating place, where many people go due to its sereneness. She watches him go, her heart breaking more every step he takes.
The walk to the cove is silent, and Ao’nung has to bite back his tears. Y/n has officially let him go, and he didn't realize it'd hurt so much. He doesn't really understand how she could mean so much to him after such a short time. Something about love having no time limit, whatever Tsireya says.
“Ao'nung- I'm sorry. I know she meant a lot to you.” L'oa says softly, and if Ao'nung wasn't so busy wallowing it his own self pity, he'd hear the hurt in her voice.
Ao'nung shrugs, “There's nothing I can do about it anymore. Now that we are to be mated.”
L'oa nods, biting her cheek. She's been thinking things over a lot. The two make it to the cove, and it really is beautiful. Glowing fauna is scattered around, and there are beds of moss laying in different areas. Ao'nung understands why a couple would want to bond for life here, it was beautiful. Eywa, he wishes it was her. Ao'nung turns to L'ao, looking her over. She really is beautiful, and a great person. He'll be fine.
Ao’nung steps closer to her, and tucks hair behind her ears, “I'm sorry you're being forced into this.” He says softly.
L'oa swallows thickly, “I'm not. I chose to do it.”
Ao'nung hesitates, “You chose to mate with me?”
L'oa nods, her eyes drifting to the ground, “Yes. I've- I've like you for a while, now, Ao'nung.”
Ao'nung shakes his head, “You have?”
L'oa sniffles softly and nods, gaining the courage to look at him in his eyes, “Yes, I have. But I know- I know you don't want me. So- go.”
Ao'nung steps back, his eyes widened, “Go?”
“Yes, go.” She affirms, hugging herself.
“Why?” He questions, his mind racing.
L'oa inhales deeply, “I see the way you look at her. Like she's the only thing- like she's the sun and you the moon. Like you would die without her. I can't be in a relationship where my mate doesn't love me back, Ao'nung. So go. Find her, and make her take you back.” Her eyes are watering slightly, but she bites into her lip hard.
Ao'nung hesitates, before pulling her into a hug, “You'll find someone better than me, L'oa. I swear on Eywa you will.”
She smiles softly, hugging him back, “The bar is low. Go.”
He laughs quietly as he pulls away, he runs a hand over his face, “Right, go. I'm going.” And he's running, as fast as his legs can take him.
A few moments pass, the silence hanging heavy, when a hand lands gently on Y/n’s shoulder. She jumps, her heart racing as instinct flares, ready to fight if needed. But when she turns around, the sight in front of her takes the air from her lungs.
Ronal stands there, her face clouded with pain and regret, her eyes reddened from tears and the relentless rain. Her cheeks are streaked with both sorrow and water. Y/n opens her mouth to ask what’s going on, but the words freeze on her tongue. Nothing comes out.
“You must go to him,” Ronal says, her voice trembling, devoid of its usual strength. “I’ve made a mistake. And I am so sorry, my dear. But you must stop him. This isn’t right. It’s not Eywa’s will... You are. You’re his destiny, child.”
Y/n stares at Ronal, her face caught between confusion and anger. Her chest tightens as the weight of the situation crashes down on her. She just let him go. Let L’oa have him. And now Ronal, of all people, is here begging her to stop her son from making a mistake.
For a moment, her anger flares, but it doesn’t last. Slowly, the realization settles in. Ronal had been the only thing holding her back from reaching out to Ao’nung. And now, with her plea, the path is clear. She wants to be with him.
Ronal, desperate, misreads Y/n’s silence as refusal. Her panic escalates, and she grabs Y/n’s arm. “Please, you must. He’ll be miserable in that loveless marriage. He needs you. I didn’t see that before—I was blind. But now I see. I see you. My son is different, better with you. That’s what a mate should do. L’oa doesn’t do that for him—”
Y/n cuts her off with a shaky nod, swallowing thickly. “Okay, okay, I don’t—” She shakes her head, heart pounding in her chest. Without another word, she turns and runs, leaving Ronal behind. Her legs scream in protest, already tired from the day’s weight, but she pushes herself harder, driven by desperation. The burning in her lungs only fuels the fire, the need to reach Ao’nung before it’s too late.
The rain pounds harder, drenching her as she runs, each drop like ice against her skin. She’s so focused on reaching him that she doesn’t see the root beneath her feet. Her foot catches it, sending a sharp pain through her ankle, and her body stumbles forward.
Her arms flail instinctively to catch herself, but the ground doesn’t come. Instead, strong, cold arms wrap around her shoulders, holding her steady.
She freezes for a heartbeat, ready to tear away and keep running, but then she looks up into his face—and everything stops.
“Shit—Y/n?” Ao’nung’s voice is filled with concern as he inspects her for injury.
Y/n sucks in a breath, her mind racing faster than her heartbeat. “I’m an idiot, I’m an idiot, and I’m so sorry.” The words tumble out in a rush. “I love you, Ao’nung. I’m sorry I pushed you away, your mother—never mind her. I didn’t know what else to do. I had to protect my fami—”
“Hey, hey, hey—slow down, slow down,” Ao’nung interrupts, his hands firmly gripping her shoulders as he looks into her eyes. His brow furrows with confusion. She’s speaking too fast for him to understand more than his name. “Y/n, I actually need to talk to you—”
“No, no—” Y/n cuts him off as a crack of thunder splits the sky above them. The rain intensifies, pounding relentlessly. “I can’t hear you!” she shouts, her voice barely cutting through the noise.
Ao’nung’s brow furrows as he leans in closer, confused. “What did you say?”
Another crack of thunder sounds near them, and Y/n jumps, her head snapping toward it. “The lightning—come on!” She grabs his hand, pulling him toward the cove. She runs with all her might, praying to Eywa that L’oa isn’t there.
She feels Ao’nung tugging at her hand as they near the entrance. She stops abruptly, her heart racing. “Woah, woah, woah—wait a second.” She spins to face him, breath ragged from the run. “What are you doing here?”
Ao’nung shakes his head, his face full of confusion. He tugs her inside the cove, glancing around quickly, relieved to see L’oa isn’t there. The thunder rages outside, but the thick walls of the cove drown it out, leaving them in a tense silence.
“What did you say?” Ao’nung asks again, his voice barely audible over the sound of the storm, water dripping from his chin.
Y/n swallows thickly, trying to focus on him. Her gaze darts to his lips but quickly returns to his eyes. “Why aren’t you with L’oa?”
Ao’nung’s jaw tightens, his face hardening for a split second before he speaks. “I… left her.”
Y/n’s heart skips a beat. She wants to ask why, but instead, the words spill out before she can stop them. “Okay, never mind that. I don’t want you to mate with her. I can’t have you mate with her.”
Ao’nung’s lips twitch upward in a small, confused smile. “Y/n—”
“I’m serious!” she interrupts, her voice shaking with emotion. “I was afraid of being with you—not because of you, but because I needed to protect my family. Your mother threatened our uturu. But Ao’nung, I can’t be apart from you.”
He grabs her hand, his grip firm and warm. His eyes soften with understanding, but there’s still a flicker of something else there—anger, frustration—but it’s held in check. “Y/n.”
“I love you, Ao’nung. And I’m sorry for making you feel otherwise. But I really, really do. And I understand if you want L’oa now because she’s beautiful—”
“Y/n—”
“And perfect. And no one can compare to her—”
Ao’nung laughs softly, his hand finding its way to her mouth. “Eywa, you don’t ever shut up, do you?” he teases, his voice light despite the storm.
He pulls her in for a kiss, the intensity of it crashing over both of them, the rain outside forgotten.
Their lips meet in a passionate fire, a collision of unspoken words, and for a moment, neither of them knows how to move, how to feel. The world narrows to the heat between them, the pressing of bodies, and the shared breath. Time stretches and bends, every second a quiet unraveling of everything they’ve kept hidden. The kiss tells the story of the past month—of longing that felt too far to reach, of despair that had been too deep to bear, of regret that had eaten them both alive. And yet, in this moment, it’s all laid bare. They can feel everything.
Y/n is the first to pull away, her breath shaky, and she rests her forehead against his, eyes fluttering shut. "I’m so sorry. Please forgive me," she whispers, her voice fragile. A tear escapes and traces the curve of her cheek, but she doesn't move to wipe it away.
Ao’nung smiles softly, tenderness in his gaze. He leans in, pressing a soft kiss to her lips, reassuring her without a word. "I forgive you," he murmurs. "It wasn’t your fault. You were protecting your family."
Her chest rises and falls with a shaky breath, her voice barely audible as she exhales, “I see you.” Her words are thick with everything unsaid, everything she's felt and wanted to express but couldn't.
Ao’nung opens his eyes slowly, his gaze settling on hers with a quiet, unwavering tenderness. “I see you, paskalin,” he responds, his words a gentle promise that everything between them can still be whole.
Y/n pulls back, still close enough to feel the warmth of his presence. She glances around the Cove, her cheeks warming at the sacredness of the space they occupy. This is a place of intimacy, a sacred mating ground for the Na’vi, and she is standing here with the boy she loves. A soft smile tugs at her lips as she meets his eyes again, and she sniffles softly, her heart both heavy and light.
“You need to apologize to your parents,” she says, her voice a mixture of affection and concern. She presses a soft kiss to his forehead, her fingers lingering there for a moment. “I’m sorry I made you bitter again.”
Ao’nung hums softly, his chest vibrating with a low chuckle. “Damn you, girl,” he says, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. “You’ve got some kind of chokehold on me.” Despite the lingering ache in his heart, there’s a quiet relief in him now—an understanding that things will be okay. They will be okay.
He looks at her with a mixture of affection and gratitude, shaking his head. “How do you know I’ve been a dick to my parents?”
Y/n smiles softly, her tail flicking behind her in a playful, almost mischievous gesture. “‘Reya,” she says simply, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Ao’nung sighs, a half-grin still on his face. “I should’ve known. I’ll apologize to them. Don’t worry.”
She stares at him for a moment. Her hand slides behind his neck and she pulls him into another kiss. She pushes against his chest gently, until his back hits the wall. He grunts softly, and she kisses down his jaw. She wants to try something.
When she was younger, Y/n and her siblings had been watching a video file Jake had made when he was a human. The human version of Norm appears behind him, a large bruise on his neck. It interested the children, and they asked about it. Then, Jake had a very uncomfortable talk about what hickey’s were and how they happen.
She finds a spot she enjoys on his neck, and starts doing what she thinks will cause the bruising. She sucks lightly on it, still kissing the skin to soothe it.
“What are you doi—” His words are cut off as Y/n presses a finger gently to his lips, silencing him. His eyes widen slightly, but something inside him stills as he watches her. He closes his mouth, his breath slow and uneven, trying to make sense of the unexpected feeling. The sensation on his skin is unfamiliar, but it's not bad. In fact, there’s something oddly pleasant about it, a warmth that spreads deeper than he expected.
After a few moments, Y/n pulls her head away, her gaze soft as it settles on the mark on his neck. Her fingers brush lightly over it, and a small smile tugs at her lips. "It worked," she whispers, almost to herself.
Ao’nung’s voice is quiet, still a little lost. “What did you even do?” His eyes flicker to her, searching for answers, but she simply looks away and adjusts the necklace around his neck, the one she noticed earlier.
Y/n studies it thoughtfully. “Where did you get this necklace?” Her fingers run along the intricate design, marveling at the craftsmanship. “It’s beautiful.”
Ao’nung lets out an exaggerated sigh, a grin tugging at his lips. “Oh, you know. Found it lying around. Nothing special.”
Y/n studies the necklace, her fingers lingering on the smooth beads as her thoughts swirl around everything that’s happened in the past hours. Her heart is lighter now, the weight of her doubts lifting with each passing second. She catches Ao’nung’s gaze, and for the first time in what feels like forever, there’s no tension—just quiet understanding.
“Nothing special, huh?” she teases, looking up at him with a small, mischievous grin. “Well, I think it’s beautiful.”
Ao’nung shrugs, but the soft smile that plays on his lips tells her everything. He reaches up, his hand brushing against her cheek, his eyes soft and full of the warmth she’s missed.
“Yeah, well,” he begins, his voice low, a touch of playfulness returning, “I think you’re pretty special.”
Y/n lets out a small, relieved laugh, the sound a sweet release after all the heaviness that’s hung between them. She closes the space between them again, pressing her forehead to his, breathing in the scent of rain and sea, the world outside still crashing down, but for once, it doesn’t matter.
She closes her eyes, letting the moment wash over her. "I love you, Ao’nung," she whispers, her words simple but true. "I don't know if I can ever apologize enough for all the time we lost... but I swear I won't waste another second."
He responds with a gentle kiss to her forehead, the warmth of his lips comforting and steady.
“You don’t have to,” he says softly. “We’ve got time. And that’s enough.”
The storm rages outside, but in this moment, under the soft glow of the cove’s fauna, the world feels still. Together, they share a silence that speaks volumes—one full of forgiveness, understanding, and the promise of what’s to come.
Y/n pulls away, her heart still fluttering, and looks around at the sacred space, her gaze softening. “We’ll be okay, right?”
Ao’nung smiles, his hand gently cupping her face. “Yeah. We will be.”
And for the first time in what feels like forever, Y/n believes him.
She turns her head to kiss his palm softly, “We should go. I feel weird being here.”
His eyes scrunch with his smile, “Why’s that, hm?”
She rolls her eyes, pulling his hand off her face and holding onto it tightly, “Come on, weirdo.” She gently leads him out of the cove. The two face the storm and run back towards the maruis. It took a second to decide who’s marui to go to, and Y/n decided to pull him into hers as they pass by.
Her family kneels in the middle, eating food. All eyes train on them, and Ao’nung smiles nervously, raising his hand in a wave. The family glances at each other, and they all smile, motioning the two to join them in the middle.

Chapter 3: A whole new world
Masterlist
Previous: [prologue] [chapter 1] [chapter 2]
Summary: Despite leaving their homeland, Y/n holds onto her mother's values. However, tragedy strikes with Neteyam's death, shattering Y/n's innocence and sparking a raging fury within her, forever changing her carefree spirit
Tumblr media
A father protects It's what gives him meaning. One life ends, another begins.
The sea clans are a world unto themselves. Thousands of islands, an unknown territory, into which we could just vanish without a trace.
"Y/n, Y/n, look down," Lo'ak urges, nudging me gently from behind on his ikran, his voice cutting through the wind. He points, eyes wide looking out into the sea.
I blink myself awake and glance down.
Below us, the ocean shifts from a deep endless blue to something brighter, turquoise and alive. The water sparkles like it's made of stars. We crossed what seemed to be a barrier. Everything feels different. New. Foreign. Na'vi wait for us on the shore, but their not like us. Their skin is lighter, like their waters, features shaped by the sea rather than the forest.
A horn echoes through the salty air, low and loud. I instinctively shift closer to Lo'ak. I don't want to be here. That sound makes it real— we're not home anymore.
We're away from The People.
"This is so cool," Lo'ak says beside me, awestruck. He doesn't feel what I feel. Our ikrans circle above the reef, following our fathers lead as we wait for clearance to land.
When we finally touched down on the sand, Lo'ak hops off and offers me his hand. I hesitate, hoping that maybe I can disappear into the shadows, but I know it's too late. I see Tuk, curious as always, wandering toward the unfamiliar Na'vi.
"Tuk!" I rush forward and grab her hand, whispering, "You must not." but before we can retreat back, we bump into sa'nok. She rests her hands on our backs, gently pushing us forward.
Sempu walks ahead, arms raised in peace, a sign that we are not enemies that we are here because we have nowhere else to go.
"Be nice," he says without turning, his voice clipped. It's a warning meant for Neteyam and Lo'ak. I fall back beside Kiri who clutches her shawl tighter, like it can shield her from the stares.
They're all looking at us. Judging. Whispers float through the air. We are different, and they see it. They feel it.
Two boys, around Neteyam and Lo'ak's age, step through the crowd. One tall and sneering. The shorter one, curious. They circle like predators.
Neteyam and Lo'ak raise their hands greeting them. It is not returned, they exchange a look, confusion clouding their expressions.
"Easy. Just be cool," Sempu warns again, low and firm.
Then it begins.
"Look. What is that?" the shorter one scoffs, pointing at our tails. "Is that supposed to be a tail?"
Laughter ripples through the clan,
"It's too small. How are they supposed to swim?" he adds.
"Do not, Rotxo. Aonung," a girl says. Her voice firm, her eyes kind. Lo'ak stammers a quiet "hey," clearly surprised by her beauty.
A boom of a sea creature surfaces nearby— powerful. A man rides it with effortless grace, his presence demanding respect. The olo'eyktan. He dismounts the sea ikran looking creature and approaches our father. They share the traditional I see you gesture. A greeting. A sign of respect.
We mimic the motion, heads bowed. When I lift my eyes again, the crowd parts. A woman steps forward, graceful, adorned with shimmering beads and shells. She moves with confidence, like she commands the sea itself.
The tsahik.
"I see you, Ronal," my parents say in unison. We follow.
She does not reply. She simply stares, cold and unwavering. We are strangers here— unwanted guests.
"Why do you come to us, Jakesully?" the olo'eyktain asks.
"We seek uturu." my father says.
I close my eyes. The words tastes like failure. Sanctuary. We're running, from our people. From the skypeople. From ourselves.
"You are forest people. Your skills mean nothing here," the olo'eyktan says, a quiet finality in his voice.
Ronal begins to circle. Her silence is sharper than the words of the olo'eyktan. When she reaches me, her eyes pause, calculating, unreadable.
"We will learn your ways. Am I right?" sempu says, looking back at us. I nod, slow and small.
"Their arms are thin," she says lifting Tuk's arm. Tuk recoils, calling for sa'nok.
"Their tails are... weak.," she continues grabbing Kiri's. Kiri winces whispering an "ow."
"You will be slow in the water," she says flatly, as she suddenly grabs Kiri's hands.
"These children are not even true Na'vi." she announces, raising Kiri's hands for all the see. Shame burns through me.
I step forward. My hand closes around Kiri's wrist, pulling her free. I look up to Ronal, silent. Daring her to touch her again.
"Yes we are," Kiri says firmly.
She turns to Lo'ak. He doesn't flinch. He knows what's coming.
"They have demon blood." she declares. A collective gasp follows. The crowd stepping back, eyes wide.
I look down, unable to face them. Their words don't change what I am, the four fingers on my hands remain the same, but they strike something deeper. A quiet ache surfaces, one I didn't know I carried.
Resentment for what we are, rising from where it's long been buried.
Sempu steps forward, hand outstretched. "Look," he says, desperate the shift the weight of judgement off of us and onto him. "This came from me. I was born of the sky people, but I am Na'vi. I have adapted."
"My husband was Toruk Makto" sa'nok says, pride in her voice. "He led the clans to victory against the sky people."
"This you call victory?" Ronal snaps. "Hiding among strangers?"
"It seems Eywa has turned her back on you... Chosen one."
Ma sa'nok hisses— raw, protective. Ronal answers with her own hiss, venomous. The air thickens with tension. I glance at my father.
"I apologize for my mates, she's—"
"Do not apologize for me."
"—She's flown a long way. She's exhausted."
"Jake." Their words clash and tangle.
Ronal steps back. The olo'eyktan speaks again, voice calm but firm. "Toruk Makto is a great war leader. All Na'vi know his story, but we, the Metkayina, are not at war."
I nudge Tuk toward sempu. "Dad..." she whispers, tired, uncertain. He lifts her into his arms. She rests her head on his shoulders. Tonowari's eyes flick to her momentarily.
"We cannot let you bring war here."
"I'm done with war," sempu says. "I just want to keep my family safe."
"Uturu has been asked." sa'nok says, eyes closed like she's bracing for rejection. Like she's ready to fly to another tribe. To run away again.
Ronal and Tonowari exchange a glance. No words. Just understanding in their eyes. His gaze softens when they flick to Tuk again.
With a final nod from Ronal, the olo'eyktain turns to the clan.
"Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us. Treat them as brothers and sisters. They do not know the sea. They will be like babies. Taking their first breath. Teach them our ways, so they do not suffer the shame of being useless."
I clench my jaw, beside me Kiri rolls her eyes.
"What do we say?" sempu asks, calm and expectant.
"Thank you," we echo, voices overlapping.
"My son Aonung, my daughter Tsireya will show you what to do."
"Come I will show you our village."
"Okay Sully's, fall in. Come one, take a knee."
I drop down in between Kiri and Neteyam, the feeling of the woven material at my legs. I just want the day to be over already.
"I need you kids on your best behaviour. I mean it." Sempu's voice is firm, his eyes sharp as he looks at each of us like he's trying to see through our brains. "Learn fast, pull your weight... Don't cause trouble. You got it?" His eyes land on Lo'ak. Of course.
"Yes sir," Lo'ak says all serious, and I let out a small groan without thinking. That sword— sir— it sounds cold. Like a soldier. It makes something twist in my stomach.
Sempu turns to me. "Is something wrong, Y/n?"
I shake my head quickly.
"I wanna go home," Tuk sniffles, kneeling close to sempu, her tiny hand gripping his fingers. Her bottom lip does that shaky thing like it's about to give up.
"Oh Tuk," sa'nok says softly. Her ears go flat, and her face melts into a kind look. Honestly? Same, Tuk. Same.
"Tuk, this is our home now," our father says, pulling her into his side. He tries to sound strong, but I hear the tired in his voice. "We're gonna get through this. We will, if we have each others backs. Alright?"
Sa'nok steps in too. "What does your father always say?"
"Sully's stick together," we all mumble, voices sad and low. I glance at Kiri. She doesn't say it. She just stares at the ground like she's somewhere else.
"That's right. Sully's stick together. This time with some feeling!" Sempu tries to smile like this isn't the worst day ever.
"Sully's stick together...woo" I say, but it comes out quiet, not a real cheer, just pretend.
This is it.
Our new home.
Our uturu.
Tumblr media
The woven walkways bounce a little under my feet as I wander through the village, the feeling making it feel like the whole place is breathing with me. It creaks softly under me and I peek down through the little gaps between the strands. I can see the water below, all shimmery and blue.
I skip a little, arms out for balance, pretending I'm on a tightrope. One wrong step and I'll fall into the sea! "Ahh!" I whisper dramatically, wobbling side to side, grinning to myself. I catch my balance, victorious and stick out my tongue to the ocean below.
Everything here is so weird and pretty. Bright colours, swaying plants, the smell of salty wind and something kind of fishy but not bad. I poke my head around the corner and see two Metkayina women weaving giant mats, their hands moving super fast. I don't want to interrupt, so I dart away before they can notice me staring.
Then I hear it.
Splash! Splash!
Voices echo over the water. Excited, playful. I stop, standing tall on the edge of one of the platforms, just high enough to see.
There they are— all of them. Lo'ak launches himself off the platform like he's falling off a ikran. Kiri glides through the water like she was born there. Neteyam's by Lo'ak and Tuk paddles around near the Metkayina children giggling her head off.
Heads bob up as Lo'ak and Neteyam complain about not understanding something in their hand langauge.
"Y/n!" Tuk calls, waving her arms. "Come swim with us!"
I wave back with a grin, but I don't go. I feel the bouncy material shift beneath my feet as I step back.
It looks fun, it probably is fun. I can feel it in my chest, this little fizz of excitement that wants to jump in.
"Come on!" Neteyam splashes water toward me like a dare.
I hesitate just a second. Then I smile wide.
"I'm coming!"
I run and leap off the edge of the platform, it bounces under my feet and shoots me into the air. For a second, I feel like I'm flying. Then— splash!
Cool water wraps around me. Bubbles rush past my nostrils. I open my eyes and, whoa!
Fish in every colour twist and dart around coral and rocks. Plants sway like their dancing to a quiet song. I spin slowly, arms stretched out, watching the bright fish swirl around me like they know I'm new here. A soft light glows from a big jellyfish drifting by.
My lungs start to ache, so I kick up to the surface and gulp in a breath.
"You finally jumped" Tsireya says, floating nearby. Her eyes warm and she giggles softly.
I nod, smiling at her. "Yeah."
I dip back under the water, my braids trailing behind me in the water. I swim along side Lo'ak, Neteyam and Tuk. We stay under for a bit, I tried to copy how they move, but I ran out of breath quick and signal to go up. They nod and we all surface together.
"How do they stay down there for so long?" I say in between breaths. I peek back under the water and see the Metkayina kids swim up to us with ease.
Tsireya smiles. "Are you alright?"
I nod and spit out a little water I accidentally swallowed from all the bobbing.
"You're too fast. Wait for us." Tuk whines, floating near Rotxo.
"Just breathe," Tsireya says gently, holding her hand out to help me stay afloat.
"You're not good divers," Aonung smirks. "Maybe good at swinging through trees but—" Tsireya hit him on the back of the head.
I burst out laughing.
They all start talking again, but I'm not listening. I'm too busy kicking my arms and legs, trying to stay above the water. My body's getting tired.
"Where's Kiri?" I ask out of nowhere, right as Rotxo says the same thing.
"Kiri?"
"Who?" Aonung says, blinking like he forgot she existed.
"She's probably talking to the fish or something." I shrug. Wouldn't be the first time.
"Can I ride the ilu?" I ask, splashing in the water. Aonung, Tsireya and the other Metkayina kids are all laughing as Lo'ak goes flying off the back of one, floating up to the top of the water.
Tsireya tries to smile but looks nervous. "They're very... powerful, Y/n."
"I'm not scared," I say puffing up a little.
Before she can answer, I hear it.
"No!" my dad calls from somewhere behind me.
I twist around and spot him, in the water with the Olo'eytkan and a bunch of big scary warriors. He's not riding an ilu, he's next to something huge and scary looking, like way cooler than the rest.
Tsireya gives me a soft, sorry smile.
I smile back, but it's a fake one. I glance at Lo'ak, still laughing as he climbs back on and immediately flying off again.
I turn and walk away. If I can't ride, then I don't want to watch.
I didn't go far. Just enough so no one sees me.
The water here is quieter, not so splashy and loud like where the others are playing. I watch as ilus glide through the water like shiny blue snakes with wings se'ntro with wings. One swims close, its fin slicing the surface.
I can totally ride that.
I slide into the water slowly, quiet as I can. The waters warm, and it hugs me like a secret. My fingers brush against the ilus skin— it twitches, but doesn't swim away.
"Hi.." I whisper.
I reach out, trying to link my kuru with it, but right as I get close— It darts off, it's tail smacking me in the face.
"Hey!" I yell, spitting water.
Then I hear something, not a splash this time. More like a hum. Soft, like music. I turn around.
"Kiri?"
She's floating nearby, eyes half closed, hands gently brushing the glowing strands of some underwater plant. Her hair floats like seaweed. Like she's part of the water.
She blinks at me. "Y/n?"
I freeze. "Hi."
"What are you doing here?" she swims closer. "You're not supposed to be riding an ilu alone."
I cross my arms scowling. "Well no one lets me ride. So I was just trying."
Kiri sighs but she doesn't sound mad. "You always do this,"
"Do what?"
She just raises an eyebrow at me.
".. Okay maybe I do it a little."
She laughs and nudges my shoulder. "Come on, let's go to the shore."
We sit on the sand where the water laps at our toes, warm and quiet. I plop down with a huff, dragging my hands through the sand. It squishes between my fingers, but it doesn't make me feel better.
"It's not fair," I mumble, keeping my eyes on the water. "Lo'ak and Neteyam get to ride the ilu's/ Tuk's busy being everyones favourite. And me? I'm just...here."
Kiri doesn't say anything at first. She just sits beside me, her fingers tracing shapes in the sand.
"I feel like I'm always two steps behind," I go on. "Like I'm always trying so hard, and I'm still not enough. I don't swim like them. They keep saying that I'll get it, that I'll learn, what if I don't?"
Kiri finally looks at me. Her eyes calm, but serious. "I feel that too," she says. "Not the same way... but I do."
I blink at her. "You? But.. you're like, all magical and mysterious. Like Eywa has chosen you."
"Doesn't mean I don't feel different," she says softly. "Sometimes I feel too much. Sometimes I feel like I belong to Eywa more than I belong to people. Even here, where everything should make sense... I just feel lost."
Her voice is quiet like the wind, but I feel every word.
"I miss the forest," I whisper. "The way the ground felt under my feet. I miss knowing where I was, who I was, I new where I fit back home."
Kiri nods. "Here, it's like we're growing into new skins. And it hurts just a little."
"Yeah." I wrap my arms around my knees. "I don't want to lose the old me just to fit in with the sea people."
"You won't," she says gently. "You're still you. Just... changing a little."
I let out a sigh and lean into her shoulder. "Why do you always sound like a storyteller?"
Kiri smiles. "Someone has to say the deep stuff around here."
We sit there for a while, not saying anything, just breathing in the salty air. The sun is dipping lower, painting everything gold. My chest doesn't feel heavy anymore, just full.
"Y'n, Kiri!" Neteyam's voice calls out as the sun starts to set. I look back and see him waving us over, walking toward our new home with Tuk skipping beside him and Lo'ak dragging his feet behind.
Kiri and I walk over, the woven walkways bouncing us softly, and the glowing ocean below. Everything smells like salt and seaweed.
When it gets dark, we all curl up together in the big woven hut. It feels strange. The air is different. The walls sway a little when wind blows. I can't sleep.
I'm curled up between Kiri and Tuk, my eyes shut but my mind loud. I can hear every breath. Every creak.
Everything here is too quiet.
Then I hear a voice, soft and low.
Sempu.
"They did alright today," he says.
Sa'nok's voice answers, quieter than a breeze, trying not to wake us. "They didn't ask for this."
"None of us did."
I don't move. I just listen.
"Neteyam..." he starts, and theres a pause. "He's trying to hold it all together. Like he thinks it's his job to keep everyone safe."
"He's still a boy," ma sa'nok says, her voice full of love. "He walks like a warrior,"
"He's got your heart," sempu says.
Sa'nok hums. "And he's got your worry lines."
They both laugh a little, soft and sad.
"Lo'ak," she says next, and I hear her the smile. "Always charging ahead."
"He'll dive head first into an argument," sempu mutters.
"He loves deeply. He just doesn't know how to carry it yet."
"He will," my father mutters. "He's got time."
There's a pause. I feel Kiri shift beside me and then, squeeze.
Her hand, gently finding mine. She squeezes my fingers once, slow.
I freeze.
Then... I squeeze back.
We open one eye each, both peeking through the dark, when our gazes meet, a giggle tries to break free. I slap a hand over my mouth, Kiri shuts her eyes tightly. We don't laugh out loud, but it's there in our chests, buzzing like little forest bugs.
"Kiri..." sempu says.
We both go still.
"She's always listening. Always feeling more than she says."
"She carries the voice of Eywa in her bones," ma sa'nok whispers. "Even when she doesn't understand it."
"Magic" I mouth to her
We have to bury our faces into the blanket to keep from giggling. Kiri kicks me lightly and I kick her back, careful to not make a sound.
"Tuk.."
"Brightest spirit I've ever met," my mother says, "She's so little but she shines through all this darkness."
"She's our light." my father murmurs
And then—
"Y/N." sa'nok said.
My heart skips a beat.
"She's always watching."
"She watches with her heart," sa'nok adds. "She copies the others, trying to be big. Trying not to be scared."
"She hides it, when it's too much... she makes jokes instead."
"She's got your fire," sempu murmurs. "And your stubornness."
Kiri gives my hand another squeeze and I whisper, "Bet he says Sully's stick together next."
"One," Kiri whispers.
"Two..."
And like clockwork dad says, "As long as we stick together—"
"Sully's stick together," we whisper in perfect sync, muffling our laughter again.
We don't know it, cause our eyes are closed, but Neytiri looks over at us in that moment— at her two daughters pretending to be sleeping but obviously causing mischief— and a small smile pulls at her lips.
After a while we all fall asleep. Cramped, cosy and a little chaotic. Just how we like it.

Orphic (pt.1)
pairing; Ao'nung x Sully!reader Orphic; (adj.) mysterious and entrancing; beyond ordinary understanding words; 3,719 warnings; injury, mentions of death Pt. 2; Pt. 3 Important note; this is sort of a continuation of a previous story that can be found on my Wattpad. It's not required to read that story, in fact it was written years ago (now it's very poorly written, but then it was my best writing). It will give backstory on your parents. Speaking of your parents, you were born to Tsu'tey and Y/n. Tsu'tey died the same death as in the movie, and Y/n died during childbirth. Jake and Neytiri took you in and named you after your mother. You're basically twins with Neteyam :) Bold is English :) the normal text is Na'vi
Decided to stray from my Marauders era for the time being, as I rewatched the Avatar movies and that phase is coming back. This is mostly a trial to see if I want to post this series on Tumblr, or just on Wattpad. The format will probably change a bit as time goes on :)
Tumblr media
The ground beneath her rushes past as her ikran races through the air, following closely behind the group of older warriors. She stays steady on her ikran, completely in tune with her surroundings as her sharp eyes scan across the moving terrain. The unpleasant hum of the skywalker machines fill her ears, and her lip subconsciously curls into a sneer. Into view comes a train upon its foreign tracks, two helicopter-like vehicles hovering above it.
“Ground team, move.” Her father’s voice instructs in her ear. The track explodes, sending the front of the train flying and causing the aircrafts to veer off track. The experienced warriors dive, and she aches to follow suit, but she refrains. Only two others stay high in the sky, her brothers, Neteyam and Lo’ak. She knows they crave the same thing she does, to go down and fight with the others. However, their father’s orders echo in their minds. The group of Na’vi work swiftly, bringing down the aircrafts and searching through the various cargo bins.
“Yo, we have got to get down there,” Lo’ak says, looking at his elder siblings with an excited look on his face.
“No way! Dad will skin us!” Neteyam protests.
“Come on, don’t be a wuss!” Lo’ak half shrugs, and his ikran changes directions, beginning to dive.
Y/n sighs, glancing at Neteyam, “Come on, little brother, we can’t let him have all the fun.” She grins, and flies after Lo’ak.
“Lo’ak! Y/n! Get back here- argh!” Neteyam groans, before reluctantly going along with them. The trio land, and Y/n gracefully dismounts her ikran, swinging her bow across her shoulder. Once again, she’s scanning her surroundings, taking note of any possible dangers, anything that could hurt her brothers.
“Come on, let’s go!” Lo’ak urges, already running into action.
“Lo’ak!” Neteyam growls, running after the boy.
Said boy runs to a supply crate, where a warrior hands him a gun. “Go boy, take it.” Lo’ak happily takes the firearm, ululating proudly. Y/n and Neteyam walk towards him, the latter rather pissed off.
“You don’t even know how to use it.” He sneers, glancing distastefully at the gun in his hand.
Lo’ak successfully loads the gun, a smug grin on his face, “Dad taught me.” He raises the gun in the air, pretending to aim at something. “I bet you can’t aim.”
Y/n rolls her eyes, “Lo’ak, you can’t either.”
“Yeah- but I bet he’s worse than I am.”
“You’re ridiculous.” Neteyam mutters. A warrior calls out, and once again their father’s voice fills the air.
“Gunship’s inbound! Fall back!” He yells, and the three kids immediately take off to their ikrans. Neteyam urges the two others to run faster, and they all push. However, their efforts are in vain as an explosive goes off behind them, sending the three flying in the air. Y/n yelps, landing on a jagged piece of metal. She hisses at the pain searing through her back. She sits up, reaching behind her to find her fingers coated in a wet substance.
“Shit, dad is gonna kill me.” She mutters to herself, pushing herself to her feet. “Neteyam!? Lo’ak!?” She spots her father, turning over a blue body. She rushes over, dread filling her body. “Dad- is that-”
Neteyam groans, his face scrunched in pain, “Dad?”
Jake takes Neteyam by the back of his neck, lifting him up to check his back for any injuries. Upon seeing none, he growls at the boy. “What are you doing here, boy? What the hell were you thinking?” He glances at Y/n. “And you- are you alright?”
She bites her tongue and nods, “Yes, I’m sorry, sir.”
“I’m- sor-sorry,” Neteyam grunts out, pain lacing his words as Jake lifts him over his shoulders.
“Go, Y/n. Now.” She nods upon her fathers demand, and rushes back to her ikran. She quietly calms its worried squawks, and takes off in flight. She follows the group through the mountains, trying to ignore the stinging in her back as she hangs her head low, afraid to meet her father’s stern gaze.
A loud horn blows as they make it home, and many Na’vi cheer and whoop upon their arrival. Y/n lands on the rock with a solemn face, and she winces softly as she dismounts, not so graceful as last time. She pets her ikran’s face gently, cooing.
“You did good, girl, thank you.” She whispers, restings her forehead against her ikran’s.
“Fall in.” Her father commands and she sucks in a breath. She pulls away from her ikran, following her father’s orders. He looks at the three children with an irritated look, and Y/n can’t help but notice the hints of worry mixed in. “You’re supposed to spotters. You spot bogeys, and you call ‘em in. From a distance.” He growls, looking back and forth between the children. “Does any of this sound familiar? Get here!” He commands Lo’ak, and the boy steps forward, joining the line. “Jesus, I let you three geniuses fly a mission, and you disobey direct orders.” In a softer voice he adds, “Kiri, can you go help your grandmother with the wounded? Please?” Y/n hisses softly as her mothers hands gently caress the skin around her wound.
Kiri glances at her father, “My brother is wounded.” She says in an obvious tone.
“It’s fine.” Neteyam reassures.
“Baby girl, please.” Jake pleads as Tuk gazes curiously at the scene. “Tuk, go with her, go!”
“Dad- sir, I take full responsibility.” Neteyam tries as Kiri and Tuk sigh and join their grandmother.
“What- no, he doesn’t.” Y/n butts in, glaring slightly at Neteyam.
“You do. That’s right. ‘Cause you’re the older brother, you gotta act like it.” Y/n looks at him with a distasteful look. She’s the eldest. She was born many moments before Neteyam was. She looks at her feet, a dull ache in her chest.
“MaJake.” Neytiri says softly, a nice change in tone. “Your son, and your daughter, are actually bleeding.”
Jake looks between the two, and his gaze settles on Y/n. “You said you weren’t hurt.”
“I’m fine, sir.” She says quickly.
He stares at her for a moment, before sighing, “Just go and get patched up. Both of you. Go on, dismissed.” She hesitates for a second, but with her mother’s urging hand on her lower back, she walks, leaving Lo’ak alone to deal with their father.
Neteyam grunts in pain, hissing slightly. Y/n watches quietly from the corner of the room, having already gone through this. Lo’ak laughs, arms crossed as he taunts his brother. Their grandmother, the Tsahik, shakes her head at his antics as Tuk hands Neteyam a bowl and gently instructs him to drink.
“I would use yalna bark.” Kiri says out loud, standing to walk to her grandmother.
“Oh, you would? And who is Tsahik?” Her grandmother asks, continuing with patching her grandson.
“You are grand- move!” She shoves Lo’ak over. “You are, Grandmother. But yalna bark is better.” Neteyam hisses in pain. “Stings less.”
“Mighty warrior.” Lo’ak teases, earning himself a slap to his leg from his grandmother.
Y/n tunes the group out, zoning in on a spot on the floor. Her hands clasp tightly around her beaded necklace, one that belonged to her birth father. She wonders if he would have let her go down and join the rest, or if he would also have her be just lookout. Would he be angry at her, the way Jake seems to always be? She’s heard many stories about him. He was a great warrior. The People trusted him to bring them to victory against the sky people, and he died attempting to do so. He was mighty, and she feels like anything but. Her thoughts shift to her mother, Jake’s best friend. She was kind, and fierce. People would always speak of her fondly. She had to end her father’s suffering, breaking her own heart in the process. And then, once Y/n was born, she died. All Y/n has left of her is her name.
She will forever be thankful to Jake and Neytiri, who have filled the position of her mother and father. But she can’t help but wonder how her life would be different if her birth parents were alive. She feels a presence beside her and sighs softly, glancing over.
“Hey, sis, you alright?” Neteyam asks softly, looking over at her.
She nods a little, “Lo’ak got grounded.” She says quietly as said boy leaves with Kiri.
He hums, “I heard. No flying for a month.” He sucks in a breath, thankful he somehow avoided the punishment. Y/n nods and Neteyam studies her for moment. He notices the way she protectively holds onto her necklace. “Are you thinking about Tsu’tey again?”
“I always am.” She responds, back to looking at the floor. “I miss him, and I don’t even know him.”
He scoots a bit closer, nodding. “It’s alright, sis. He’s with Eywa, and he’s watching over you. I’m sure he’s proud of you.”
She makes a face, “Yeah, maybe.” She glances up as Neytiri and Jake walk into the tent. She makes brief eye contact with her father, but quickly looks away. His sad gaze lingers on the girl, but upon Tuk’s begs to be picked up, he looks away.
Neteyam sighs softly, wrapping his arm around his sister’s shoulders, “Either way, you have me, big sister.”
Y/n glances at him, a ghost of a smile on her face. She holds out her pinky, “Little brother.”
He grins, locking his finger with hers, “Big sister.”
“No matter how old we get.” She finishes softly, shaking his pinky like a handshake. “Thank you, Neteyam.”
He half shrugs nonchalantly, “It’s no biggie.” He pulls his hand away, and ruffles the top of her head. “I'll leave you to ponder, I need to speak to father.”
She smiles, “Try to keep your head.”
He stands, “I'll do my best.” And he walks towards their parents.
Y/n uses this chance to sneak off unnoticed. She silently slips out of the tent, and once she's a good distance away, she calls for her ikran. She takes a deep breath, and jumps from the edge, landing seamlessly on her ikran. The two immediately take off, and she ululates loudly as they go. Once his wings meet a steady rhythm, she spreads her arms out, basking in the final moments of sunlight. The warmth of the rays brings comfort to her skin, and she sighs deeply. The built up stress slowly fades away and her muscles relax.
Moments like these, completely alone and serene, not a worry in the world, are her favorite. It’s the only time she can truly relax. However, she doesn’t get many. The tight leash her father holds her on seems to be suffocating. She can never leave without notifying someone - and even then she can never leave by herself. Her father’s fear of something happening took over her life. So, whenever she gets the chance, she slips away, giving herself a moment of freedom.
Her ikran perches on the side of a cliff, and Y/n carefully climbs onto the small landing. She rests against a rock, looking up at the night sky. Her ikran purrs softly and curls up beside her, resting his head on her lap. She gently pets him, caught up in her own world.
Her serenity was interrupted by the hum of vehicles below her. She furrows her brows as her ikrans head perks up. She peers over the edge of the landing, her eyes searching for the noise. A seemingly rogue amp suit trudges through the forest, gun at the ready. She glances at her ikran, and in only a moment she’s on his back, stealthily gliding down. The sun slowly falls behind the trees, and the world gets darker, but she doesn’t turn for home. The pair land in the trees, and she silently instructs her ikran to stay back.
She runs through the trees, tracking the noises of the amp suit. The bow slung across her shoulder gently hits her thigh, and her ears perk up at every sound. She eventually catches up with the suit, and watches intently from the trees. A young man occupies the suit, and she notes his particular ugliness. Her stomach settles uncomfortably, and she swallows thickly.
“Mule, do you read?” Her dad’s irritated voice fills her ears, and she freezes. The sound catches her off guard, and she falls short of the branch she was reaching for. She yelps as she loses her balance on the tree. She shrieks, flailing her arms as she falls. She hits the ground with a thud and a groan, and the amp suit already has his gun pointed at her.
“Well, what do we have here?” He sneers, a nasty look on his features. She grunts, pushing herself to her feet despite the ache in her ankle. She doesn’t answer, instead slowly inching her hands to her bow. “Don’t you touch that thing.”
“Mule, I asked, "Do you read?””
“It’s getting dark out, did mommy and daddy not tell you to be home before the light dies?” He takes a step closer to the girl, and she bites her cheek, glancing around.
“I do not speak English, dipshit.” She sneers, glaring up at him.
“What was that? Speak English, beast.” A squawk fills the air, and the man's attention is drawn. Y/n takes this moment to dart between the robot's legs, pulling her bow off her shoulders. She swiftly climbs on top of the tree, pointing the arrow at the man. He points his gun, and fires aimlessly. The arrow leaves her bow, and strikes beside his head. She loads another arrow, and a searing pain shoots up her thigh. But she holds steady, and releases this arrow. The suit slumps, and falls to the ground.
Y/n glances down at her thigh and a pained look crosses her face, she lifts her hand to her throat. “Devil dog, I read.” She grunts out.
The answer is immediate, “Where’s your playground?”
She stumbles down the tree, calling for her ikran before answering, “By the mountain-” She hisses. “South side.”
There’s a pause, “Are you hurt?”
She sighs deeply, her ikran landing beside her. “Yes. I’m coming home.”
“No, stay where you are.” She takes off. “Mule, do you read?” No answer. “Goddamnit, Y/n.” She makes it home quickly, and her siblings immediately crowd her.
“Y/n- what were you thinking?” Neteyam rushes out, pushing past his siblings.
She grunts, feeling slightly dizzy from her bleeding bullet wound, “My leg.” She mutters, afraid to look down at it.
“My daughter!” Her mother shrieks, shoving the growing crowd. “My child- what has happened?”
“Mama-” She slides off of her ikran into her arms. Her leg gives out and she screws her eyes shut.
“Y/n!” It’s her father this time, who also shoves through the crowd. “Shit, Y/n- move! Everyone move!” Neytiri picks up the girl and follows after her mate, her face etched in worry.
“I’m sorry-” She whispers to her parents.
“Shh, save your energy, child.” Neytiri instructs softly as she sets her down on a fur blanket in their tent. Mo’at rushes in, gently pushing Jake aside to assess the wound. She makes quick work of setting up her supplies, a deep frown on her face.
“Y/n!” Neteyam rushes inside, despite his father’s protests. He slides next to Y/n, taking her hand tightly.
“We must remove the bullet. It will hurt, grandchild.” Mo’at says calmly. “Are you ready?” Y/n swallows thickly and nods.
“Okay,” She whispers, dreading the next few seconds. Her fear proved to be justified, as the pain of large makeshift tweezers digging through her thigh is unbearable. She tries to stay quiet, but a few whimpers and cries manage to escape. She relaxes once the bullet is removed, and sighs. “Ouch.” She mutters, sniffling softly.
Neytiri frowns at her daughter, “What were you doing out there so late?” Jake watches from the front of the tent, a hard look in his eyes.
“I just wanted-” She hisses. “To be alone, for a moment. I lost track of time.”
“And the sky people?”
“Came out of nowhere… he was alone. I was watching him, and then dad called for me, and I fell.” She doesn’t make eye contact with anyone, shame filling her body.
“Where is this man?”
“Dead.” She replies grimly, slightly relieved as Mo’at wraps her thigh.
“You killed him?” Neteyam asks quietly, wonder in his eyes. Y/n nods solemnly. “Woah, cool.”
“Not cool.” Their father butts in, stepping forward. His hard gaze sets on his eldest. “I’m disappointed in you. You defied multiple rules. Don’t go anywhere alone. Don’t go out when it’s getting dark. Don’t interact with the sky people.” His arms are crossed, and his jaw clenched. “You could've died, do you realize that?”
Y/n’s gaze lowers, and she nods. “Yes, sir.”
Neytiri gives her mate a pointed look, “She could have died, so be thankful she didn’t. She has already received the punishment of her mistakes. All you must do is comfort her.”
“A shot to the leg isn’t enough- she should be grounded.”
“MaJake.” The heat in her eyes successfully quiets the man, and he sighs, shaking his head and storming out of the tent. Y/n frowns, sitting up slowly.
“I’m tired.” She mumbles.
“You cannot walk on your own, granddaughter. Your leg requires healing, and you must give it time to do so.” Mo’at says, a rare gentle tone in her voice. “I shall have a healer bring you crutches.”
Y/n nods, “Thank you, grandmother.” Mo’at nods and collects her things. She exchanges a few words with her daughter, before walking out. Her presence was replaced by a crying Tuk. She runs in and jumps into Y/n’s arms. “Woah- Tuk?”
“Are you dying?” Tuk asks, her eyes filled with tears.
“Oh, no, no, Tuk. I’m alright. I’m not dying, silly.” She says softly, kissing Tuk’s forehead.
“Is your leg going to be cut off?” Lo’ak questions, much too excited about the idea, as he walks in.
“You wish.” She grins. Her siblings can always cheer her up, even if they aren’t trying to do so.
“I think you’re an idiot.” Kiri mentions.
“I think father agrees with you.” Y/n shrugs, still holding tightly onto Tuk. “Is my ikran okay?”
Kiri nods, “You’re ikran is just fine.”
She smiles gratefully, “Thank you. Now, let me sleep. I require slumber.”
Y/n sits, gently humming to herself as she makes a necklace. It’s only been a few days since she was injured, and she’s spent her down time making things for the people she’s loved. She’s already finished the things for her siblings, her mother, and her grandmother. All that’s left is her father. She must admit that she contemplated even making him one, but he really does mean the world to her. She’s determined to make this necklace perfect for him.
She glances up at the sound of ikrans landing, and her family is there. She hides the necklace quickly, and lifts herself up. She uses her crutches to step outside of the tent, a questioning look on her face.
“What’s going on?” She asks, and meets Lo’ak’s eyes. The boys gaze drifts to the ground and her brows furrow.
“All of you, go. I need to speak with your mother.” Jake demands and no one protests. The group of them go around the tent, and instead of giving them space, they eavesdrop on the conversation. The adults manage to get a few private words exchanged before the children listen in, “This thing. This Quaritch.” Y/n’s ears perk at the name. The villain of her parents’ stories. “Whatever he is- he walked right in here. He can walk right under Eywa’s nose.”
“This is our family! This is our home!” Neytiri defends.
“This is about our family! This is about our little ones.”
“I cannot. You cannot ask this.” Her mother steps past Jake. “I cannot leave my People. I will not.”
“He’s hunting us. He’s targeting our family.”
“You cannot ask this!” Neytiri snaps. “The children. Everything they’ve ever known. The forest. This is our home!” She yells, her voice urgent.
“He had our children. He had ‘em under his knife!” There’s a moment of silence before Neytiri let’s out a shaky breath.
“My father gave me this bow as he lay dying.” It wasn’t difficult for Y/n to know which bow she was speaking of. “And he said “Protect the People.” You’re Toruk Makto!”
“This will protect the People!” Jake yells.  “Quaritch has Spider.” Y/n gasps softly, looking at Kiri with sad eyes. “And that kid knows everything. He knows our whole operation, and he can lead them right in here.” The eldest kids share a look. “If the People harbor us, they will die. Do you understand?” They’re silent for a moment. “Look, I got nothing. I got no plan. But I can protect this family. That I can do.” Neytiri gasps softly, her face twisting in pain. “But I know one thing.” Her father whispers. “Wherever we go, this family is our fortress.”
Neytiri sighs, and embraces her mate tearily. Jake sighs softly, his heart heavy. Y/n glances between her siblings.
“You guys need to tell me what happened. Now.”
Y/n waits patiently on her ikran for the ceremony to end. She cannot walk well, so she doesn’t attempt to stand with her family as the new Olo’eyktan to “kill” her father. She keeps her bag close to her hip, her creations kept safely stored inside. She frowns as her family walks towards her, her mother cries silently.
Not a word is spoken as they begin their journey to the islands. Y/n glances behind her at the forest for the last time, and she can’t help but feel as if she’s leaving behind a vital part of her. She’s leaving behind her birth parents. Their memories. She sighs and looks forward, holding tightly onto her necklace.
A father protects. It’s what gives him meaning. One life ends. Another begins.

Shit-- DAD!!!?!?
[Shifting series part 2]
A/N: some characters are aged up. I am also using an online Na’vi translator so my Na’vi might not be the best.
Tumblr media
The village was buzzing with worry; some scared some confused, some everything in between. The kids ran into the village with the two humans in their arms. Jake called in Norm and Dr. Max Patel but they wouldn’t be flying in till tomorrow.
“Jake, these sky people. They might belong to the others!” Neytiri yelled at Jake in a hushed tone.
“I know, I know, but they’re just kids—“
“Just because they are kids—“
“I know, Neytiri.” Jake took her hands and held them tenderly. “We still need to be cautious, but those kids need our help.”
Neytiri, huffed. “Fine,” she then stormed off somewhere down the coastline. Jake tried calling after her but to no avail. He sighed and walked towards the hut where the two humans stayed.
He peaked through the curtains; the two humans were lying down, still unconscious, but being tended to by Lo’ak and Tsireya.
“Hey, are they doing okay?” Jake asked, crouching bedside his son whom was changing the cold rag on the blonds forehead.
“They are—“ Tsireya pressed her slender fingers on the small wrists of the humans, “alive.”
“Still not awake though,” Lo’ak sighed. Jake nodded his head.
“Well,” Jake stood back up. “Repot back to me if anything, and make sure to rest yourself.” He pointed to the both of them.
“Yes sir,” the kids spoke in unison.

3:35 PM
Cecilia’s eyes fluttered open in a blur; colours of brown, red, blue, green, flooded her vision. She blinked away the crust clouding her vision, now being able to examine her surroundings. A hut. She was in a hut of thick stretched hide and coloured straw-like material weaved all around her; it resembled a wave, slanted on all sides like fluid water would.
She sat up, taking in her full surroundings. A brown blanket covered her, and to say it was over sized, would be an understatement; it was triple her body size. A water jug sat beside her and a wet rag sloppy laid on her lap. Cecilia looked to her side and there slept her cousin, Riel.
“Where the hell are we,” she whispered. Next thing she heard was a thump. She whipped her head around and saw a straw basket filled with things slumped on the floor. She looked up and after turning her neck up all the way, she met the bright golden eyes of a person, thing, unknown to her.
“Shit-- Dad!?!” The tall humanoid thing ran away with urgency, Cecilia’s spine shot up in shock, the feeling of cold chills shivered up her spine. Before her mind could think, he body moved; she scrambled to her cousins side and tried to wake her.
“Riel, Riel!” Cecilia yelled in a hushed tone. Riel didn’t move a muscle; she only moved like jello in her arms. Guess I’ll just have to drag you. Cecilia stands up shakily and gets a firm grip on Rheas boot and tries to drag the sleeping rock. Just before dying on the spot, only making as far as a corder of a meter, she froze in her spot.
Tall people; extremely tall blue people at the foot of the hut staring at the girl in shock, other than the relatively ‘shorter’ one trying to hold in a laugh.
Both parties exchanged a wave of worry, but instead of standing awkwardly like the blue people, Cecilia fainted but was quickly caught by the tallest. (Thank god this mans has long legs-- 10ft for nothing looking’ ass)

Tsutey lives and become spider's adopted dad
So tsutey lives but was badly hurt. His spine was shot (like Jake) and he needed to recover at Hell's Bridge for a while under human supervision as they need to dig the bullet out of him.
Tsutey still gave away his position as the leader of Omatikaya to Jake because Neytiri is mated to him, and Tsutey himself felt he could not lead well due to his injuries.
Jake declines and insisted to be a placeholder until Tsutey recovered enough to return to the people.
So Tsutey pissed and depressed over being hurt and surrounded by humans wasn't the most social. Every human stirred clear of him except for one.
Norm.
The poor scientist is running himself wreck to keep up with the recovery of the humans, aid in the Omatikaya warrior's injuries and salvaging remaining supplies and research. He is also one of the few humans that Tsutey tolerates to treat him. So he is also the Navi's main carer. All of it he could handle with sufficient caffeine.
With one exception.
A human baby. A baby they found in the midst of chaos, hidden in a drawer.
Norm loves kids. Loves their tiny hands, and their weird garble. But he just did not have anytime for the baby during the day. The other humans are also busy and so the baby was strapped onto Norm's chest during the day, as the scientist do his errands.
The baby loves Tsutey. He made grabby hands to the Navi and cried whenever they had to leave. Tsutey also developed a soft spot for the tiny human and start to look forward to the pair's visits.

After Zoe's interview where she said Sullys would "go their separate ways" I've seen a lot of people worrying about Jake's and Neytiri's marriage.
“It’s going to be an emotional roller coaster,” she says. “The way ‘The Way of Water’ ended was unimaginably painful for the Sully family. Now, they have to make really strong decisions. Do they stay united and find common ground, or do they go their separate ways? And God knows what’s going to happen to the existing children.”
I think they do have different ideas on how this war should go as we saw even in ATWOW with Jake being tired of war (he avoids it until he can no more) and Neytiri wanting to just fight until all the invaders are gone (she's right but it's easier said then done). Fallout from Neteyam's death and the whole thing with Spider (staying with them, Quaritch) won't help either. Still, I don't see them breaking up ever. I think they will just make choices that will separate the family.
I have some ideas about what will happen but these rely on leaks (here if you want to read them) and other spoilers so only click below if you don't mind spoilers/already know.
I think the Sully family is getting physically separated - 1. because the kids are being sent away for safety and 2. because Jake is getting captured by RDA. And the strong decisions are what they have to make in each case.
After Spider gets his ability to breathe, he is set to become prime target for RDA since they would love to have that for their people. And Jake is already a prime target, even more after the SeaDragon battle and after he gets back into the fight and creating anti-RDA alliance. Sending kids away from the main forces means they are less likely makes sense but it also means their parents aren't there to protect them. I think they will all be sent back to Awa'atlu including Spider to Neytiri's displeasure.
Tumblr media
It seems like a lot of the movie will also separate Jake and Neytiri during different events. We see only Jake is there during the initial escape from Ash Na'vi with the kids and Quaritch (Neytiri finds them later with the rescue party as Quaritch escapes with Wainfleet). This means Jake has to cooperate with Quaritch and they seem to be able to reach a temporary truce. This also shows Quaritch willing to soften his stance as he's not as hellbent on killing Jake as he was during AWOTW. He is now willing to bring him in alive (dead only if he has to).
Tumblr media
This matters because there are indications that Jake does get captured eventually. There was a material (now removed) in behind the Scenes showing Jake in handcuffs with Quaritch and Wainfleet and attacking Parker Selfridge. It is possible that it's also Jake in orange prison jumpsuit on the screenshot showing Quaritch and Lyle in some high tech room (possibly on board the Factory Ship).
Tumblr media
So this initial moment of cooperation to save the kids probably keeps Jake alive later. I'm sure, however, it didn't make Neytiri happy that he let the man responsible for the attack that killed Neteyam just leave. Not after all they went through in that battle.
She certainly seems to disagree about sending Spider with the kids. She might be right since both he and Jake get captured by RDA, possibly because Jake finally doesn't abandon Spider, but her solution seems to be to kill Spider instead so no wonder they don't see eye to eye there. (BTW I hope the implication she would rather have him dead is either a misreading or gets toned down like Parents from Hell were).
And it seems like the kids each will go in their own direction to - Spider captured and maybe experimented on because of his new ability; Kiri investigating her new abilities; Lo'ak becoming even closer with Payakan and maybe other tulkun. They too probably only come together again at the end.
But I think this capture of Jake is their big separation. I think Jake will try to keep Spider safe instead of abandoning him this time and that will get him captured. I think that finding that common ground about Spider with Quaritch will keep him alive. And I have no doubt Neytiri will lead the effort to free Jake while he will try his best to come back to his family. Possibly in that big Sea Battle we saw teased.
This might be after the rescue

Platonic Yandere Recoms X Navi Child Reader Part 2
Tumblr media
~A/N: Sorry that this has taken so damn long! It was mostly done and I was stuck, but motivation hit me like a brick recently. So, I hope you enjoy the long awaited part 2! Unedited for now
Masterlist , Part 1
CW: character death (somewhat detailed), discussion of death
~
-During their few undisturbed months with you, the recom team had gotten into a routine with the daily activities all of you did.
-The day started with you and Z getting up, showering and getting dressed together, though they still weren’t able to get you into socks or shoes, followed by having breakfast with everyone. Then you all did group language lessons until lunchtime.
-After lunch, whoever was holding you at the time held you while you took an afternoon nap. Then you played around with them until dinner. And between dinner and bedtime, everyone wound down, with you cuddling into one of them.
-And you were content with that routine, especially on the days where they took you outside, though they made sure to keep a very close eye on you while you were outside.
-They knew that they were technically behind schedule for their mission, but they couldn’t bring themselves to care as they had a new personal mission, that being raising and taking care of you.
-Though they wouldn’t stay undisturbed for long.
…
-It had been a normal day in their base with you, before the door opened and a surprise guest entered the building.
-Everyone in the room flinched, especially you, and whipped their heads in the direction of the door to see who was coming into their base.
All of their ears collectively went down when they saw their boss, General Ardmoire, come in looking like she meant business. She had her hands locked behind her back, back straight, and her head up with all of the authority she had dripping off of her. They had all stood up, with Mansk pushing you to stand behind his legs. And you clung to one of his legs while peaking around at the human woman who had them all on alert. Everyone had lined up in front of her, somewhat covering you from view, but she was still staring you down with precision. She addressed Quaritch to ask what the hell they’ve been doing, and why they have a native child with them. Mansk covered your ears while they went through the rundown of how they had taken you in, and how they’ve been taking care of you since then. You were just looking up at Mansk with wide, clueless eyes, wondering why he didn’t want you to hear what was being said.
General Ardmoire just said that having and basically raising a child ripped from their culture was not going to help contribute to their mission. All of the adults around you were immediately pissed off and in disagreement with that idea. All of the recoms made eye contact and were immediately in agreement with what they needed to do to keep you.
Mansk just picked you up and took you to another room while the rest of the team was left with the general. You just kept looking up at him with innocent confusion while being carried to another room in their base. You were sitting on his lap while practicing more of your english. Your ears briefly flicked towards the main room when a loud crack sound floated in from where the others were, but you were too focused on the foreign words to pay too much attention to it. Though you turned your whole head in that direction when you heard the door to the base open again.
-Once you finished your mini lesson, you were brought back into the other room, the human woman was no longer there, and the rest of the adults were sitting on the stools around the table.
-You looked around for the woman until someone distracted you with a cut up fruit, which you picked out of the bowl with your hands. You just received fond head shakes as your hand and lower face got covered in fruit juice.
-Lyle just wiped off your face and hands before they continued with their daily routine with you.
…
-And unbeknownst to you, the general’s body was laying on the floor of the forest, getting picked at by the wild animals of Pandora’s forests. Gone to the world as soon as Lyle got his hands on her neck.
-And once you were asleep against Z, the men went over to the main base with all of the human agents, barricaded the exits, then broke all of the windows as quietly as they could.
-They observed to make sure that everyone inside stopped moving, then made their way back to their own base.
-They each kissed your forehead and nodded to Z once they made it back, before going to sleep themselves.
…
-Though they didn’t stay in their base for very long because they knew that they wouldn’t have any resources left in a little bit.
They had moved away from both of the RDA bases until they spotted a clan, then moved a bit away from it before building themselves a shelter. And took the pointers from the stories you told about your old clan to provide for themselves and you. Though they weren’t sure how to make the navi clothes, and just kept manually washing their human style clothes, though they were getting threadbare since they had been on their own for a couple months.
Though the clan had begun to notice the new activity near them, and recognized the sky people features in the adults, and recognized that you were a native like them. And that didn’t make them feel good, so they notified the only man they thought would know what to do about it. Jake Sully.
-And once Jake asked some questions about the appearance of the avatars, he was scared for you. Wondering why they have a toddler with them in the first place.
-But he figured he needed to get to that clan and figure it out for himself.
…
-Jake made the quick trip to the clan that had reported the human-like navi seen with a child in the forest.
-When he got there, the olo’eyktan greeted him, then brought him to the edge of their territory to discreetly observe the group together.
-A veritable chill went down Jake’s spine when seeing the exact features of the group of navi. Being that he had once worked with, and fought a war against them.
He confirmed the suspicions of the clan’s leader and said that he could handle this, but to have them stay close just in case things went south. He moved closer to the group along the branches of the trees until he was only a little bit away, then dropped down and walked around the tree to be in front of them. He put his hands up before getting their attention and watching all of them whip their heads around to look at him. The little kid with them shouted his name before having Z push them behind her. He just narrowed his eyes at that before asking what they were doing and why they were here.
Jake watched as they all looked at each other before Quaritch stepped forward to talk to him. He put a hand up to keep Jake from walking backwards and told him that they had abandoned that mission, and gained a new perspective. Jake just furrowed his eyebrows to prompt him to continue with his explanation. Quearitch nodded and brought a hand to Jake’s shoulder to guide him to come sit with the rest of the group.
As he sat with the group, the child, toddler really, came up to him and sat on his lap. He smiled and put a hand behind their back to keep them from falling before looking up at the group of, apparently, ex-RDA soldiers. They went into the story of how they had met the child, and what they had done to get them. They all looked down while explaining the death they caused, but perked up when saying that they had gained their little darling from the unfortunate event. They explained that they’d been building a routine with taking care of them and teaching them English and had completely forgotten about the missions they were given because you had become their priority. Then the general had shown up and tried to take you from them because she thought you were a ‘distraction’, and they had dealt with her accordingly, and that she was left for the forest creatures. Then they had busted the windows of the main RDA base in the forest in the night, so it was unlikely that any other humans that had come back would turn up.
-Jake was surprised to say the least. He couldn’t say that any of these events were expected of these people, in his opinion.
-He also hadn’t even noticed that he had been covering your ears basically since the retelling had started. He only realized when you had put your hands over his.
-He just raised his eyebrows and playfully flipped you over and put your legs over one shoulder and tickled your tummy. You just scream and laugh before slapping at his hand. He just chuckled before setting you on your feet in front of him, pointedly ignoring the stares from the group around him.
-After that he just sighed before asking what they intended to do now.
-They had all made eye contact before saying they were ready to embrace the way of the ‘people’, as you had called it. Though they weren’t exactly sure how that would work, as they’ve been just doing their own thing in this place for a couple weeks.
-Jake had a look of deep thought on his face before talking to you in navi, asking how you would feel about joining his clan and continuing to learn as you had before being with your current caretakers.
-You had enthusiastically nodded before going up to Lyle and hopping in his lap. You heard him suggest moving them to be just outside of the Omatikaya clan and to have you learn from the clan teachers, along with teaching the adults the ways of the people like he learned.
-They all came to an agreement before asking how soon they would be moving.
-They had all said that they wouldn’t mind moving over there right then. So, Lyle stood up with you in his arms while everyone else grabbed all of the stuff they had with them and began to follow Jake through the forest towards his clan.
-It had taken them a few hours of constant walking to make it to the Omatikaya clan, and as soon as they had entered the heart of it, there were stares from everyone settled on the group.
-Jake just pointedly ignored them as he continued walking with the group towards his home, in the hopes of privately discussing the matters to come. Though he did notice the whispers and his own family attempting to stealthily follow them through the crowd.
-Meanwhile, you were looking at everything in the clan with wonder and excitement because of the semi-familiar surroundings.
-They had only just made it into Jake’s home to discuss the details of their future arrangement when the rest of Jake’s family stormed in behind them.
Neytiri was the first to speak, immediately shrieking, “Ma Jake! What are these people doing here?!” She shouted this while angrily gesturing to the extra people in her home.
Jake just put his hands up in front of them before saying that they will all explain the situation to them. Neytiri started to argue with him, stepping closer to him as she shouted more. You were just observing this with concern and confusion. You understood every word, and that made you very conflicted. You turned to ask Lyle why she was so mad at them, making him remember that you knew their language and gently covering your ears from the, no doubt, expletive filled tirade from Jake's wife.
This, ultimately, just drew her attention to you. She scrunched her face and yelled harder at her husband to ask why a child was with them. Jake just kept telling her that they would explain everything to her. This only made her more mad, and you more upset. Your ears were pinned to the sides of your head, and your eyes, focused solely on Neytiri, were tearing up. All of the adults surrounding you were seeing the impending meltdown. You interrupted everybody in the vicinity by letting out a loud whimper. And as everyone looked at you, an atokirina gently rested on top of your head, staying long enough for everyone to see it before floating away.
The whole group was staring at you in awe before processing the state you were currently in. Lyle and Z, who were closest, started comforting you, and Neytiri had finally started calming down while she touched Jake’s arm and shamefully lowered her ears.
-Jake decided to defuse the situation by prompting the group with the offering of changes of clothes, in the Omatikayan style.
-That made you perk up a bit, asking if they would really have clothes for you.
-Jake smiled at you and assured you that they would get some clothes that you like for you.
-You had calmed down and were now excited to get a change of clothes, a lot more familiar to what you were still used to.
-Everyone present had calmed down, and Jake asked if you wanted to go with his children so they could get you new clothing. Which you accepted before being set down and leaving with the four other youngest people present.
Neteyam had picked you up when you had fallen back to look at everything as they were going to where all of the spare clothing was. You were talking, in navi, about how you were going to pick out nice clothes for all of ‘your adults’, and how you had imagined them learning your ways. They all thought that it was endearing, but overall sad. They all shared a look before finally getting to the storage tent with the extra clothing for the clan.
You were set down in front of the clothes that would fit you, and you immediately started looking through them. You had quickly picked out a very basic looking purple tewng, and were looking for a top that matched it. You ended up picking a top that had a mix of beading and knots to form a design. And after you changed you went to the adult sized clothing to pick out outfits for your adults. Just something basic before they learn to make their own. And you ignored the eyes on you as you were debating the choices you had.
And once you had made your final selections for everyone, and had them sorted in your hands, you had gone back to the group of Jake’s children. Letting them know that you were ready to be brought back to the adults.
-They didn’t say anything, just led you out of the tent with small smiles on their faces.
-You started talking to the youngest girl, Tuk, while walking back to the family’s kelku. Occasionally one of the older siblings chimed in too.
-You two had become fast friends in the time it took to get there.
-You all had shown up just as they were finishing another argument, though they had come to a conclusion.
-Z had immediately come up to you and lifted you by the armpits to move you into the middle of the group. And all of their attention went to the bundles of clothing in your arms.
-You excitedly told them that you had picked out clothing for all of them, then eagerly passed out the clothes to them.
-They all looked at them in confusion, and you laughed before saying you could help them. Though it sounded adorable coming from you because a couple months is not long enough to be fluent in english.
-It was truly toddler speak, combined with a limited vocabulary. And they found your eagerness and, almost, babble to be the cutest thing ever.
-Though they had to come to a compromise of you explaining the tewng to the guys, and waiting for them to change, before staying to help Z into the clothes.
The Sullys were just observing this scene with apt attention. With harsh focus on the ex-soldiers. But they were intrigued with your offer to help them yourself, though they had assumed you had forgotten that they were there, and could also help.
Jake decided to step in at the end, and offered to help the guys change himself to save time for the group. And though the men were cautious about changing in front of what used to be their enemy, they knew that they would do it for you. Along with knowing the attitudes of the navi people with exposure. So, they waited until most of the others present left before unfurling the clothes and wincing at the minimal coverage. Jake just laughed before telling them that he had the same reaction his first night with the clan.
They listened to the explanation from Jake before hesitantly taking off their previous clothes and putting on the loincloths, along with the other small accessories you picked for them. They were done quickly and swapped places with the others that needed to change.
You went back in with Z and waited until she had taken off her other clothes before showing her how the loincloth went on and helping her with tying it. Then assisted with the top and helped position it in a nice way. They told her to sit still while you put a necklace and anklet on her. Once you were done you beamed at her with all the pride your little body could produce. You clutched onto her around her hips, and she walked out of the tent while holding onto you and swinging you around, you giggling all the way. The sight of it brought smiles to the entire group outside, with Tuk beginning to beg her father to do that with her too. Jake just shook his head before grabbing her, swinging her around in front of him as he waddled in a circle.
Which was enough for her in the end.
-Once everyone calmed down, and stopped picking at their clothes, they were told to follow Jake so they could pick out a spot to build their own kelku.
-This had you very happy, pulling on Z’s hand as you guys began to walk into the forest behind the Sully’s home.
-Your eyes had turned calculated as you looked up into the trees, assessing each one of them. Thinking about the possibilities for each of them and their limbs.
-Your adults were a little surprised at how serious you got about picking a spot to build a home. Though they suspected that you would know which place would be best.
-You had been walking around for a few minutes, looking back and forth up into the trees, eyes narrowed. And out of the corner of your eye, you saw a promising one.
-You immediately turned in a different direction, quickly walking up to the thick tree you spotted. You looked up at its limbs, nodding as you walked around the base of the tree.
-Though they got a bit panicked as you suddenly jumped up and started scurrying up the tree. You made it to the major limbs of the tree, poking and crawling around on them in your inspection.
-You must have been happy with what you saw, because you started coming back down to the ground, and happily announced that that was the one. Asking how long it would take for the kelku to be built.
-Jake just said it could take a while depending on how big it would be, and how much involvement you wanted in it.
-You just beamed at him before prancing over to Mansk and reaching to be picked up, which he did quickly and swiftly.
You guys made it back to the middle of the clan, and you pranced off with Jake, Neytiri, and Neteyam to grab food for everyone. It was a simple meal of some fruits and teylu, and you happily carried a couple portions with you back to your people. Neytiri was eyeing you from behind, wondering how you still act like a carefree child after what you’ve been through. She smiles a little bit as you start skipping to the ex-soldiers once they come into your view. Observing as you hopped up into the lap of the woman with no hair on the sides of her head.
Their whole family watched as they had conversation with each other while doting on you, each one of them periodically giving you their full attention. And you were just basking in the familiar food and surroundings while being taken care of. They couldn’t help but smile at the situation while still being wary of the adults that you were with. And you occasionally helped Z adjust the top to her liking. Laughing when they huffed at the clothing.
You started talking in your broken english about how you wanted the kelku to be built and set up. Slightly different from how the Omatikaya ones were, more like your home clan, and bigger to be able to fit everyone. All of them nodding along to what you were saying. They didn’t exactly see your vision, but would help as much as they could to achieve it for you. They wanted you to be happy and fulfilled.
-And the next couple months were filled with you directing the adults helping to build the home how you saw it, when you weren’t in lessons with the other children.
-You had made fast friends with Tuktirey, hanging out with her daily, and by extension her siblings.
-You hadn’t been in lessons yet in your clan, and were the youngest attending. This meant that you weren’t expected to pick everything up as easily as the bigger kids, and had more free time to oversee the kelku being built.
-You had really taken to weaving, and crafting. Making many clothing pieces, accessories, and baskets during the period of time the kelku was being built.
-And you immediately claimed a space once it was done, toddling around to look at everything that’s now finished.
-You watched as all of the adults explored the spaces and nooks in their new home, taking their time to explore everything. Each claiming a space as theirs eventually.
-They had been training daily, and learning how to build and weave the home on the side. Though it was all worth it to see you so happy. They felt fulfilled providing joy for you.
-They couldn’t help but smile as Lyle lifted you into his arms to help you hang up all of the clothing and other items you had made for everyone during your lessons.
-Each of them gave you a kiss on your cheek after you dragged them back down the tree so you could all bathe after the excitement of the day.
They had been taught how to make or acquire the items needed for bathing, and used that as one of the moments to be calm and dote on you to the highest degree. And even though they still weren’t used to how exposed the navi were, it was no longer as weird to bathe as a group and help each other. It was one of their most treasured moments when you allowed yourself to act more your age, as you tended to act more mature than a three year old should. You took it upon yourself to step up for them as they were plunged into a new life, and they really appreciated that. Though it was nice to see you allow yourself to be immature. To allow them to really baby you like they wanted, take the time to coddle you. You usually made no attempt to wash yourself, melting into their arms and allowing them to do it for you.
They never realized that they were usually being observed during that time, their senses not as attuned to constantly observing around them. But it was usually Neytiri that perched herself in a tree by them and observed how they were with their guards down completely. Though they have been defying her expectations since they arrived back in her life. It has become a nice ritual for her, allowing her to relax in their presence and convince herself to stop being so distrustful of them. Seeing them caring for a child really made her feel for them. She knew the feeling herself, as a mother, even though all of her kids are mostly independent at this point.
Originally, she was observing them like a hunter watching prey move through the trees, body tensed in her observation. But now she watches while relaxing on the branches above them. Laying on the branches, flicking her tail in content, while focused on the group. She appreciated your friendship with her children, approving of you and them influencing each other. And she was fond of your presence. Though she had never gotten to see you truly act your age like that. And that worried her, which she brought up to Jake from time to time. His words alone hadn’t calmed her, but these moments did. She saw you healing. So, she was content to see you relax and let yourself be a toddler, and be cared for.
-Her attention snapped to the side as someone stopped next to her on the tree, though she relaxed again as she saw Jake settle beside her.
-She figured it made sense that he would catch on eventually, as he had also been a little bit worried about the child.
-He started silently watching the group with his wife. Having a small smile on his face as he saw what she had been going off to do recently. Feeling fond of seeing you act your age and enthusiastically accept the care offered to you.
-He saw Neytiri’s attitude towards the former soldiers change and had been wondering what brought it on. And now he saw it for himself.
-Children change people, bring out their true colors in a sense. And he was happy to see the effect it had on the group of people in front of him.
…
-It had been some time since your home had been built, and all of you had been adjusting quickly. You to the new culture, and them to the navi life.
-Though they were still learning the language and ways of life, they were making a major effort for your sake.
-They saw how happy you were to speak the navi language with them, and do the things you were used to doing before.
-They were acting as a family unit, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Awotwe - Eight
You will need a camera, a clock or a watch for this visualisation.
When you photograph the Sun every day at noon for the whole year. The series of photographs will capture the Sun in a trajectory that creates Figure 8. Today, known as the eternity symbol.
Remember, you will need a camera and time (clock or watch) to help capture this visualisation of the Sun...
...and before the Greek, Latin and Sanskrit (the crux of European languages), it was already formulated by our people of old and was called Awotwe. This figure was also used as the glyph for the number, 8.
The knowledge systems of the world were well-established before Europeans went around the world destroying the original cultures of the world.
