Glistenlings

It started December 22, that's what the subjects of the Great King Almond Carousel thought.

The message was, as far as they could see, first presented to the king by a random muffin that was rolling down the street and soon crept into the king's throne room.

Soon the image flood in. Faster than you would need to be to kill a fly with nothing but your hand. It flood in every street, kept everyone in their homes, and made it impossible to wade through the great kingdom of @/walnutcookie 's blog.

The five evil spirits contained in the image shrieked to be fed, to be set free. Their leader flew above ground.

The king first laughed at the leader. And the other four contained in the image. Who wouldn't, considering the hilarity of the situation. Five recolored versions of a video game character begging for food and announcing themselves as the Glistenlings!

But soon. The image cracked through the dams. It slipped through slowly at first. Very slowly.

But then, suddenly on a day like no other, you could not move through the kingdom without encountering the image, the beast of terror that horrified the masses and, eventually, the fearless king himself...

So, the king decreed on Sunday, December 29th of the terrifying year of 2024, that he make sure the guards not let a single horrific image of the beasts slip through. Naught one.

The 22nd of December would forever go down as the day the beast slip through, let in by a muffin. Rolling down the street.
