i do think it's a bit weird how unwilling baldur's gate 3 is to play with morals... it's strange because even when divinity original sin 2 was at its most black-and-white, there was still a tangible reason for villains to do the things they wanted to do. the god-king is upset that his people have been kept behind the veil for thousands of years and has come to exact revenge, freeing his people and taking back what was stolen from him. it's not particularly DEEP, but it's enough to make you at least... Think about the motivations of the villains you engage with?

there's HINTS of it with the absolute's chosen (gortash was sold off as a kid, ketheric lost his family, orin grew up under all of that) but none of it has any bearing on the plot nor is it much more than conjecture. and there's still a lot of Evil Just For The Sake Of Evil. the illithids are unequivocally Evil as a collective, because they have to be to serve the plot. minthara Has to be under mind control to be an evil person, because otherwise it doesn't serve the plot. shar can't be anything other than Pure, Distilled Evil, because otherwise it doesn't serve the plot.

obviously these are all symptoms of the game's setting being in faerun, and the fact that baldur's gate 3 itself is a continuation of something that isn't larian's own property to begin with, but you would think that larian would at least be willing to expand and play around with morality more? though i suppose also larian wanted to carve more of their niche into classic black and white Silly Goofy Fun RPGs rather than making a thinkpiece, which also has its own place. auhhh oh well

REVIEW UNDER THE CUT!!!!!! but tldr i like it!

i really cant lie this album is exactly what i wanted from skz rn. the old school hip hop is really big at the moment with groups such as new jeans and kiss of life or like, even young posse (sigh), and its the first time they Really leant into it BUT i always thought it felt Very them and that they'd do it well and i was RIIIIGHTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

walkin' on water: THIS FUCKS SEVERELY!!!!!!! a really catchy and very very well produced title track, i have a feeling itll perform really well if not only for both the trendiness of the genre in kpop rn but also the "wa- ah wah-ah walkin on" topline, the added bit of heavier drums and bassline that was really prevalent in rockstar kinda makes it feel more Stray Kids to me, its a genre that all the members really Excel in, the vocals are really punchy and the rap line served thiss. loved it. (i really dont wanna talk about the harry potter line though LOLLL) 10/10

bounce back: the second title track is usually always my favourite when it comes to stray kids but surprisingly it didnt really stick this time, this still RULES THOUGH. it has all the same genre and instrumental vibes as walkin on water which i loved, and i really love the rap chorus!!! han's verse and felix's part in the prechorus are a HIGHLIGHT too, theyre both extremely dynamic and super fun to listen to, honestly same with the rest of the vocal performances!!!!! it doesnt really have that hook that i wanted though, and im not a fan of the whistle but i understand it. lol. I ALSO ADORE FELIX'S LINE IN THE BEGINNING they're finally letting these grown ass men swear in recent years and im so happy about it <3 9/10

U (feat. TABLO): okay um. i dont like this one <3 the honking bass always turns me off, and the almost recorder-esque chorus isnt my thing, but i Love when skz lean a little bit into drum and bass (i think someone in 3racha must really like the genre lol, it shows up a little bit in songs like 0325, domino and social path (and more im pretty sure)) so im always gonna applaud that <333 3/10

walkin' on water (hip version): GOOD ! NOT AS GOOD AS THE MAIN VERSION! i do very much like it though its fun, it feels more like their other tracks, and i LOOOOVE that end bit with the really punchy bass beat with the repeating vocals. other than that everything i liked about the normal version applies here <3 8/10

(the beautiful hummed bit at the end too kills me AUHHH) :D beauty and the beast slay 8/10

hallucination (IN's solo): okay and heres a solo i liked more live, when asked about what the song was about jeongin literally said it was just sexy which . yeah slay. good on you king <3 idk this is the same as railway i wouldnt really listen to this on the reg but i appreciate it. looove the track its great 5/10

youth (lee know's solo): AND HERES THE FUCKING PEAK OF THE ALBUMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after hearing this live i was like . yep . thats my favourite. and it STILL IS. it feels so fresh and fun, The perfect vibes going into the summer months and lee know's vocal performance is so so so good. so catchy. SO groovy. (AND the choreo is banger too, look it up!!!!) its too short of a song though!!!!!!! but AUGH. PEAK <33333 10/10

so good (hyunjin's solo): okay this is Kunt. life is so good (life is so gooooood). this is a memetic hazard it gets stuck in my head instantly. this song is a perfect example of how much Control hyunjin has over his voice and his performance. it goes from a valley girl Oh My Gawd to this gorgeous almost fragile sounding voice in the second verse. such a fun song. this is a hyuna song without hyuna and that makes it great. 7/10

ultra (changbin's solo): sirennnsss!!!!!!! gotta appreciate a good siren beat, changbins rapping is peak as always and is especially showcased here, and the dubstep breakdown is very very fun (ULTRA ULTRAHHHH)!!! i dont have a lot to say i just like it 6/10

hold my hand (han's solo): now THIS is an anime opening ??????? someone has GOT to hire this man to make anime openings (oh wait!)!!! hans vocals are amazing in this, like. capital A amazing, and he was genuinely amazing live while running on that damn stage with that guitar lol. idk i also dont have a lot to say about this, its not smth id listen to as much as some of the other tracks on the album but i do feel like going on a roadtrip when i listen to this 6/10
