This is actually my first time drawing in a tablet properly, and it's safe to say it's eaaaasier to get the lines smoother than on phone.. I was considering tweaking a few proportions but gah, I'm tired!

The association

Redrew their adult versions bc I really need to diversify unique features while also portraying their personalities... Which while I think it's an improvement, I don't think I've quite nailed it yet. May rework some of the minor features, particularly the eyes.

Some notes on the design choice:

Jacques & Kit - they're twins halves of the same whole to me, so they have the same face, just different vibes. Jacques is supposed to give the impression of a cool, strict, if a lil cold older brother, while Kit is the more carefree, also cool, affectionate older sister.

Lemony - I added scars from when Stew beat him up. His eyes are the same as his siblings.

Moxie - Other than polishing up the structure of her face and adding freckles, I think I really got her right from the get-go. 10/10 no further notes.

Cleo - She's supposed to look intimidating and regal, her hair is meant to evoke a "queen". She looks fierce, but she's nicer than she looks.

Jake - when he was younger, his hair is curlier and down, now he has it styled. He's meant to look friendly.

Ellington - doesn't look mysteriously enough ngl, but she does have femme fatale vibes. Kinda.

Lizzie - literally just Hedy Lamarr in terms of face. I really want a look that screams "STARLET", so she's the prettiest/most elegant looking here.

Kellar - my intention for him is that bc of his harried and anxious nature, he gives off the impression of being unapproachable and unpleasant.

Squeak - the youngest of the group, he grew up but still maintaining that core mischievousness. He looks a lot like Pip.

Pip - forgot to draw his glasses, anyways he looks more of a refined gentleman here bc he's now officially a librarian, a prestigious job.

Ornette - meant to look classy, enigmatic, and amiable. Perfect for a hotel proprietor.

Lemony Snicket was canonically a cheerleader and I haven't seen a single person talk about it. The possibilities are delightful- Lemony saying cheesy rhymes in a deadpan voice?? Lemony in a cheerleader outfit in general?? Lemony getting tossed around by others more qualified to be a cheerleader?? Lemony who joined cheerleading simply because Beatrice was in soccer?

VFD calls itself "not an aristocracy of power, based on wealth, but an aristocracy of the sensitive and considerate", yet ever single member we know of has immense generational wealth. They all live in huge mansions. THE DUCHESS OF WINNIPEG is a volunteer. Lemony describes having friends with big yachts and fancy vacations in asoue. The word "noble" is consistently used to mean 'good'. not to mention the implications of 'literacy' being such an important quality for 'noble people'. idk that sounds like the usual kind of aristocracy to me.

Lemony Snicket really did just wrote for wierd kids right? Like main demographic, shure with the ASOUE TV show it got out there, but every wierd teenage girl you know or knew most likely read at least one of his series. Like that's some peak wierd kid material.

to have an accurate understanding of lemony snicket in all the wrong questions you have to grasp that him solving mysteries is 5-20% skill depending on the case and literally everything else is pure luck. This kid is a shitty detective you must understand. He is bullshitting his way through this and it’s only working because he is the gods’ favourite (NEGATIVE)

so my mom has a tattoo on her ankle, and honestly it hasn't aged great. i was looking at it and thought "stain'd-by-the-sea must've had crazy tattoo game, they probably produced tattoos that never faded/bled", and i realized, "what if STBS provided ink to VFD for them to use it in their tattoos?" i mean considering the tattoos were used for identification, and are somewhat intricate, you wouldn't really want them to fade. new headcanon acquired.

can u imagine. the baudelaires are back on briny beach, back in the city. there’s no one chasing them. they have a tiny baby, like they did so long ago. violet asks klaus what they do now. they haven’t stopped running. even on the island, they were always running from unforeseen obstacles- those crabs, or the cockatoos, or bea’s cradle cap- whatever came their way. and now they’re home. what home used to be.

as they wander, they pass a small book store. violet still can’t use any of their parents fortune, if it is indeed still intact, but they had found early in a small ‘emergency fund’ on the island, either left by ishmael or their parents. it’ll do.

it’s wasting money, sure, but they need to do this. it takes a bit of searching and a librarian with an all-too-familiar look in her eyes, but she doesn’t pry and they don’t give.

they also buy an ink pen, and on the bench outside of the shop violet takes a moment before she very carefully writes ‘beatrice katherine baudelaire, II’ on the inside cover.

“to remember,” violet says. ���and to know.”

sunny doesn’t remember. and violet and klaus never knew to begin with.

man hands on misery to man, but they’ve left the coastal shelf, and any person can stop the tide in even the smallest amount.
