what i love about trippin on a hole is how every member of the band put their whole entire pussy into it. it's robert's most complex and fastest bassline in the entire catalog, it's dean's most technical solo- a lot of stp songs don't even have solos yet for whatever reason he brought out the big guns for trippin- scott's nonsensical yet deep lyrics, some of his most notable- and eric wrote the music on guitar, which he rarely did!!! ahhh

i reread the book very recently, and it's still the same beautiful book ever. i like how he says all his thoughts, actions, and how he thinks of others in the notebooks like he's trying to make us understand and then at the end of the book we figure out that truly NO ONE understood him.

this fic is set ten years after they first met. diana has recently joined him with what he was doing with tricell behind the organisation's back after they betrayed her, essentially. so, they have settled in at the headquarters in italy, and they are just cuddling and reminiscing, and it's really soft, but also bittersweet for a few reasons

one being because the passage of time (ough) has made him acutely aware that his ageing has been halted and hers has not, and two being because all of their early memories were in raccoon city, and they can't go back there to ever relive any of those. you know, because it was wiped off the map

they joke around a bit and there's lots of just slow, tender making out before they are simply lying together again in one another's embrace, and the overthinking queen she is, diana gets a bit melancholy because of them talking about anniversaries. it's just the whole fact that she's never had something like this before and she doesn't understand what made her so unlovable to her past partners... blows her up with my mind

so, this has her kind of fumbling trying to articulate herself, but it ends in him talking about all the qualities he loves about her, and how well she understands him, how patient she was with him when they started things, how she has always been perfect, while of course, he slights her ex-husband in the most vicious ways, as always

he gets a bit dramatic, and his eyes start glowing cause he's being all passionate about it, and she jokingly says, "you're preaching, dear" which makes him be like, no i'm stating facts lmao but it's just really cute and they are in a time of their life where they both have so much freedom and it's just... good. but it hurts even more knowing that a year later, things start to go very downhill

Finally watching crystallized because i heard there's an episode about the ice emperor only for it to be another "haha zane is a robot who malfunctions sometimes!" Joke made out of one of the most traumatizing things to happen tona ninjago character is crazy. It's confirmed his greatest fear is losing his humanity and being seen as just a robot, so why do the writers AND fandom treat him like he's just chatgpt with ice powers? Why do all the other ninja get SO much development and story and episodes about what happened to them, but Zane is left with a few scraps and "beep boop hes a robot, please laugh" while Kai gets his 100th episode about himself? There are literally only a few episodes where Zane actually has a momment where the writers dig into him, and one of them it was meant to be a joke!! He got like a minute of an episode where we could actually think "wait all the horrors this lego has been through might've actually done something to him," and it's played off as another robot joke, once in "Whydly Inappropriate" and the other in "Return of the Ice Emperor", and theres probably more im forgetting about! The writers were actually on a good streak of fleshing out Zanes character in seasons 1-5, but something happened when season 6 started and they thought the only way to make people like Zane as a character was to use him for corny robot jokes! He literally had, like what, 10 minutes of screentime max in Prime Empire? The only episode he mattered in was just a big robot joke (i love confidential, its funny. it's just ARHGHGH GIVE HIM SOMETHING) and the episode where he's used for the gate. SO MUCH happened to him in season 11. I dont understand why in Return of the Ice Emperor they couldn't dig into that at least a little!
