Favs of 2020 (Girls edition)
A/N: This is just personal opinion, everyone has the right to disagree. Also all title tracks are linked
Guys version
TOP 10 OF 2020:
1. It’z Me - Itzy (Wannabe)
All I can say is you’re lying if you don’t think this is song of the year. Everyone and their momma and their momma’s momma did the shoulder move because it’s iconic. ‘Wannabe’ was the first Itzy song I instantly fell in love with and well. I still listen to it daily. It makes me feel good and I have adopted Itzy this year. ‘That’s a no no’ is my favorite b-side on the album.
2. Not Shy - Itzy (Not shy)
It’s rare that a group will be on these lists twice in a row but what can I say, 2020 is the year of Itzy. I absolutely hated this song at first, but now it’s in my head everyday all day. I love the dance, the song and the music video soooooo much. Itzy really just did that this year. My favorite b-side off the album is ‘iD’ or ‘Surf’.
3. New Rules - Weki Meki (Cool)
Weki Meki haven’t made a song I don’t enjoy yet. However this song really influenced me to stan fully. ‘Cool’ makes me want to walk down a runway and then kick someone’s ass too. Not to mention Lua??? The whole entire album is really good and on my list to buy soon. ‘D-day’ is my favorite b-side.
4. Look - Apink (Dumhdurum)
I absolutely love that Apink matured but still kept true to their style. Not switching into a different concept like girl crush. I just love the elegance. I listen to this song everytime I walk my dog... so everyday. It gives me that retro vibe but it’s not in your face about it. “Be Myself” is my favorite b-side off of the album.
5. The album - Blackpink (Lovesick girls) (How you like that) (Ice cream)
You either love or hate Blackpink and well I love them. This album was long overdue and that might be why I love it so much, but that doesn’t matter. I still love it. I think the girls really outdid themselves with ‘Lovesick girls’ it’s quite possibly their best title track and I adore it. I like ‘How you like that’ but was unsure when it first came out, solid pre-release single nothing more. ‘Ice cream feat. Selena Gomez’ is my favorite of the 2 pre-release singles. It’s so fresh and nice to see Blackpink do something kind of different with it. My favorite b-side off the album is ‘Love to Hate me’.
6. Alien - Suhyun (Alien)
When I heard Suhyun was having a solo, I thought it was going to be a ballad. Something very vocal orientated but I was so happily surprised. ‘Alien’ is a colorful, different side to her that I haven’t seen before and it was so well done. She looked so pretty in the mv, the dance is fun and makes me happy, her vocals are amazing and the styling is great. Suhyun, you did good. This solo was a well deserved one.
7. Stay Tonight - Chungha (Stay Tonight)
No matter how hard I try I cannot do helicopter hands and Chungha is rubbing it in my face. However, ‘Stay Tonight’ it gives me runway, high fashion, clubbing in Paris. It’s everything I love in a song. The choreography is stunning, Chungha is stunning, the styling stunning. This song is a cultural reset.
8. -77.82x-78.29 - Everglow (La Di Da)
I want Everglow to be superheroes or super villains in a drama or something. We know they can pull it off!!!!! Aisha, the goddess can step on me. The song is absolutely amazing, the girls are absolutely gorgeous. Not to mention the choreo??? Absolutely insane. Favorite b-side off the album is ‘No good reason’.
9. Dystopia:Lose myself - Dreamcatcher (Boca)
One of the prettiest mv’s ever. No but the winner for me in Boca is the mixing of sounds, the rock with that instrumental in the beginning??? The way Dami comes in is the cooles entrance ever. I can’t not sing along when I hear it. Not to mention the lyrics. Dreamcatcher isn’t scared to call out people’s bullshit. My favorite b-side off the album is ‘Break the wall’.
10. Bloom*iz - Iz*one (Fiesta)
This song is indeed a party. Iz*one only really have Korean bangers, not too mention their styling is some of my favorite girl group styling this year. ‘Fiesta’ makes me want to get up dance and have a good time. THis is also the first album of theirs that I enjoyed inside and out. ‘Pink Blusher’ and ‘Spaceship’ are my favorites.
Favorite Girlgroup debut:
Secret Number
Secret Number just had whipped from the first listen “Who Dis” is just such a good song and not to mention their vocals, visuals and dancing. I’m also completely whipped for Dita the first ever Indonesian idol (I think). Their first comeback “Got that boom” is also such a party and worth checking out.
Favorite Solo Debut:
Lee Suhyun
As I said before, this song made it into my top 10 and well she deserves it. Suhyun deserves it all. I love ‘Alien’ I love it soooooo much. From Styling to vibes. She also just looked so happy the whole time performing. It’s just so nice seeing her so happy.
A/N: Keep in mind these are just my favorites, your favorites may differ as they should! Let me know what your top faves are this year!

Road to Kingdom ep 6-7 Thoughts
D-1 Until the final performances! And I’m back again with a very much procrastinated review of last week’s stages. Let’s jump right into it ✈
Enjoyment Ranking:
The Boyz
Verivery
ONF
Oneus
Pentagon
TOO
Objective Ranking:
ONF
The Boyz
Verivery
Oneus
Pentagon
TOO
There isn’t much of a difference between the two rankings this week, but it did take much longer for me to decide how I would rank them. This set of performances were probably by far my favorite set of performances (though my overall favorite performance is not within the set).
Once again, let’s begin with TBZ’s performance: Quasi Una Fantasia. I will probably make another post analyzing their stage decisions and story line so I’ll try not to make this part too long. The biggest reason why TBZ’s performance is first in enjoyment is because, well, 1. I’m biased and 2. I’m a whore for classical music. The way that they incorporated not just the most famous movement of Moonlight Sonata (the third movement), but also the first two movements, was just so satisfying to someone who used to play the piano. Beethoven was one of my favorite composers (Bach being my least favorite to play oops) and I love how the arrangement of Shangri La was executed. The fact that they put the dance break in the beginning of the performance was a breath of fresh air. In terms of the dance, I thought the choreography was good, especially the beginning half. As someone who has taken contemporary lessons, I have to say they didn’t really go full contemporary. It was more hip-hop that was contemporary inspired. I would have really liked it if they had done full contemporary but that requires training and would be easiest with a strong ballet foundation. Also I don’t think it would have fully fit the rest of the song. Another thing that impressed me was their use of camera angles. You don’t know how shocked I was when they did the relay thing at the end, it was so effortless and beautiful. Also Chanhee vocals 👏 I love. Thank you king.
The reason why ONF comes in first objectively is because they were just so Clean. That performance was just CLEAN. everything just felt perfect. Though there wasn’t a very long story line, what they had was sufficient enough to keep me interested. Hyojin (I think that’s his name; the red haired member) and J-US really caught my attention for this stage. From what I understand, ONF is about to perform and Hyojin puts the headphones in his ears and it seems like the performance starts, but halfway through hes called to go up on stage. This was a very interesting choice because it shows that he was picturing the perfect stage in his head backstage. Then the end him and his teammates truly go up on stage and have the time of their lives. The use of curtains was simple but well executed. It wasn’t overdone and it wasn’t cheesy. Also it might seem like a small detail but the lighting choices in this performance were also perfect. They also all looked like they were having the time of their lives and I love that for them. The touch of bgm rain and thunder at the end was the icing on the cake. My favorite part of this performance has to be the dance. It complimented the arrangement wonderfully and there didn’t seem to be a single mistake. Oh also the breathing that they recorded for this... 😳... Anyways 🙃
Verivery gets pushed lower on the overall rankings mostly because of the mistake at the end. Verivery really went full creative this time. I think out of the 6 stages theirs was the most well thought out. The whole Aladdin story line was *chefs kiss* They kept it mysterious at first but as soon as the lamp showed up I knew exactly what the whole performance was based off of. Kangmin is Aladdin, you can see the wanted poster at the beginning, and at the end he gets dressed up by the other members/has the lamp etc. They really took small details of the original movie/story and incorporated it perfectly into their performance. The beginning is when Aladdin and Jasmine meet at the market. It builds up and when it gets to the chorus you see everyone dancing along with the stage spark thingies (I totally forgot what they were called LMAO sorry). This kind of reflects the part where Aladdin becomes a ‘prince’ and you know the whole parade/festival. Obviously next is the magic carpet and then Jafar’s (Hoyoung’s) big entrance. The black outfit and the cane made it very clear to the audience that his purpose was to be the villain. Then it’s the whole part where they go to take the lamp back from Jafar. The mistake obviously came when Hoyoung dropped the cane. This was unfortunate but overall it didn’t lower the quality of the performance. There’s a lot more to comment on, such as the fact that the entire performance was only shot with one camera, but that would make this part too long :^) The reason it ranks so high on my enjoyment ranking is because I can watch it over and over while still noticing new things each time. It gets lowered objectively because I don’t think the choreography was strong (me trying to nicely say I just didn’t like the choreography changes ksdjfhkdjhf) and the mistake is very obvious and kind of puts a break in the performance. Overall they did a great job and I am proud 👍
Oneus took a well known story and tied it nicely with Be Mine. I think the plot was a good choice and fell in line with the original theme of the song. My favorite thing was the little moon light stands. Those were such a nice touch to the stage. They captured the end and emotions of R&J very well and the choreo and arrangement were very much to my liking. The vocals really shined with this one. What I really liked were the small armor pieces to their outfits. The medieval feel was shown through their stage outfits and I commend the stylist for this. To be honest, when I first saw this performance live I thought it would be in my top 3, but then the other groups really outdid themselves. first 4 places were very hard for me to rank. It was small details and choices that made me end up with such a placement. Oneus has grown so much throughout the show and even if they don’t make it to Kingdom I hope they know that they had some legendary stages and Come Back Home is such a good song.
I know that last week I said that I was shocked that PTG placed so low, but after rewatching the performances, I kind of agree. It’s not that they did badly, but rather the other groups just did so well. PTG’s stage presence was phenomenal for Follow. The arrangement was good for their theme (though not my favorite but I definitely liked it more than the KTL arrangement). This stage also really let every individual member shine and have their own eye-catching part. And the most impressive part: their vocals. Out of all the stages, I can only confidently say that PTG were singing live (it feels like its been this way for the entire show). But I’m almost 100% sure that Follow’s vocals were live. Hui’s voice just shot through my eardrums and skjdfhdkjfhkj. I think that’s Why I was originally so shocked that they placed so low. But yeah, basically the stage was good but it wasn’t groundbreaking.
With TOO... I don’t know where to start. I originally liked the arrangement but then it started to fall off towards the end. The rap at the beginning was also very good. My favorite part was the choreography changes (I honestly like it more than the original), but then again Hard Carry was never really my cup of tea. I guess the biggest issue I had was with the theme of the performance and stylistic choices. I also didn’t like the use of autotune but that could just be me. I still enjoyed the stage but there were certainly some questionable decisions.
RTK has increased the expectation bar every single week. To be honest I’m kind of worried for the actual Kingdom show haha. The bar is going to be so high walking into Kingdom and everyone is going to have to step their game up. There isn’t really much to say about ep 6-7′s performances. I already ranted about the lack of appreciation for emotional stages last week so I’ll spare you on that this week. Anyways keep streaming and we’ll see what happens tomorrow!
#road to kingdom#the boyz#TBZ WORLD DOMINATION LETS GET IT#idk there wasnt really anything critical to say this week#they all did really well i think theyre getting the hang of doing creative stages#rather than just straight covers that you see at kcon or concerts#i hope they continue to take this creativity to their future performances#so that we can spice up award shows and kcon and stuff like that

yesss space themes. and it was so nice how they used that narrative to introduce the new members. bubble tea just isn't popular enough around here :(( one day, hopefully u_u but I really liked the ones I've had, yes :') I don't like matcha tho so I doubt I'd like this one as bubble tea 😔
I do like reading! I try to do it as often as I can :') I was reading "Any way the wind blows", I absolutely love the trilogy. I also have started "And then there were none" some time ago (i know, different vibes here XD), I really need to finish this one. do you like reading ? or do you have other hobbies?
ok ok ok I already knew your taste is ✨exquisite✨ but ERROR??? that's legit one of my fave mvs too 🥺 everything vixx does is always top tier, but they clearly outdid themselves with this one. I also put tagtagtag in my top 5 hehehe. I have never seen golcha's mvs so I'm gonna trust you on that, but the other 4!! I actually listened to ONF We must love bc I saw so many gifs of it and I just HAD to see that mv yk, very pretty and all (though I'm too stupid for theories, I'll leave that to you). Heart attack is iconic, and All in is, in my humble opinion, mx's best mv ever. they really went all in with this one (im ashamed of this one ngl)
but ahhh my top 5 ;; ask again tomorrow and it'll probably be different, but tonight I'd say (not including error/tagtagtag bc i mentioned already) : 1. xia - flower 2. a.c.e. - savage boys 3. loona - butterfly 4. nature - girls 5. nu'est - goodbye bye sounds like a decent enough top 5 :')
I've been ok!! it's colder here this week so I'm happy, I can sleep the whole night without being woken up by the heat :') also it is august already (i'm answering late again 😬), time feels so fake this year, I have not seen it pass by at all yet every day feels soooo long ;; -🌊
aww but hey! fruit teas are really good!
ooh i had to google that one but whoa it's by rainbow rowell! i haven't read anything by her but i remember my friend read fangirl and eleanor & park and she seemed to have liked them 👀 and yes!! an agatha christie book! the taste ✊ how are you liking it so far!! hmm i used to love love LOVE reading growing up but after i got into university, i sort of fell out of it for a bit (mainly because we had to do so much reading for classes, i was too burnt out to read leisurely 😢) but i'm slowly getting back into it for sure! i've been re-reading a lot of my older books but i'm always down to read new ones ofc! what are your fave books?
yES vixx is just 👌👌👌 the quality, unmatched. SHIGLKES I LOVE THAT ALL IN PUN OMG 😂 DO NOT BE ASHAMED, I APPRECIATE IT LOTS
ok i had to sit down and watch the mvs you listed because idt i've watched any of them apart from loona - butterfly SO!!
1. wHOA I LOVE THE CONCEPT FOR THIS it's very modern fantasy-ish, and there are also some steampunk elements and just wow 😱 plus the choreo was hella smooth
2. ooh the sets for this one are very exquisite!! + their looks 😭👌 this song is very catchy LOL
3. can we just talk about the people who were featured in this mv bc i really appreciate that diversity 😌 and the choreo is just a++
4. i watched the uncensored ver. because i remember vixx had a similar thing with voodoo doll LOL but i just love the horror concept 😩 that end shot made me close my eyes haha
5. the 2010s style mv is very strong in this one and it's so nostalgic!! why did he eat the fish (or did he)
ah i'm glad you were able to sleep properly 😌 it feels so uncomfortable having to wake up because it's too hot :< happy august!! haha time feels so fake, i wholeheartedly agree what even is time?? before you know it, it's gonna be december and then a whole new year will start again!!
EDIT: i watched dreamcatcher’s because mv and let me just say this might end up in my top 5 mvs LOL
