any analysis of getaway as a character which assumes his primary motivation is his hatred of megatron is one which is starting from a point that cannot produce an accurate picture of his role in the story. that's not to say his hatred of megatron isn't sincere. but the idea that his approach to the mutiny is one which stems from his picking sides on the Megatron Diskhorse TM is one which can't account for a good chunk of the establishing set up work done for his character post-Remain in Light!

it's also just boring anyway. because megatron and getaway aren't foils, and never have any meaningful emotional confrontations with each other. i mean look. of COURSE rodimus is his primary motivation. getaway-rodimus is what the story is interested in. you can tell by the ending to his arc! (my mixed feelings on the conclusion of that plot aside.)

Every time I’m with my irls the subject comes up a lot more cause they’re into more female oriented series but man while it’s given better female rep is just okay-not astounding but not feeding into the more worse tropes of women in anime-I feel really bad for Michiru.

It’s like she’s the more prominent female in getter as she’s probably had the most appearances out of any of the others but I feel she’s never been used to her fullest potential. The manga really felt like Ken didn’t know what to do with her as she just kinda existed and then was killed off, arma just uses her as a plot device, toei I can’t speak fully but I know she’s a support character however given it’s that role and the 70s it only goes so far and in other canons she’s flat out hardly acknowledged. (SVN literally just has her as a cameo)

New is probably her best version but I feel there was some missed opportunities with her as the Hein arc could’ve shown more what was going on in the present and with her but it didn’t have enough time for that, and even if she does have dynamics with the boys hers and Ryomas are very undeveloped as they hardly interacted which is both a shock and a shame as they seemed to be fun in the one ep-ep 2-where they really talked.

And also as much as I like News approach to her characterization it is a shame we hardly ever seen the more traditional version of Michiru be fleshed out, when even if “uwu nice girl” is more basic it can still work and be a good character. Like it made me more sad watching Android Kikaider and seeing Mitsuko who’s basically the same trope as Michiru-down to even LOOKING like her-being a older sister with a dead brother, absent mother and a sus scientist father and be so fleshed out, but Michiru never got that chance.

You can always say “oh maybe in another getter project” but fuck knows when that’ll happen ever man💀

Last Series: I finished a Little Women rewatch (in love) and finally started Spy x Family. I love it! it's already starting to deliver the found family, I'm gonna be obsessed. Also watching Gaus electronics on the side. It’s pure chaos and zero brain cells in sight. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

Last Movie: Nope. I need to rewatch this masterpiece.

1. Oh In-Joo (Little Women):

"Where do souls live? I always wanted a home where my soul could live." I can’t stop thinking about her characterization and development. They managed to keep Meg’s tenderness from the novel but added so much more. and they fit all of that with a surreal plot and significant commentary on capitalism and poverty. I love that they weaved in so much (and did it well).

2. Oh In-Kyung (Little Women):

"They're so fresh. They're fresh to the point that it's almost sexy". Fresh produce is…weirdly sexy. She gets it. Therefore, she is my favourite. Her layers make her feel so real, a part of the reason why I’m so obsessed w this show. Modern adaptations of classics are hard to get right, and I feel like this one treads those lines well. it is fresh (a full genre shift) but still manages to keep the essence.

3. Black (Not Me):

"Power is corrupting. Ideas are what have the power to transform society" My plot device of a man🥹🥹 Certainly deserved better. I could watch him wreck shit for days.

4. Dazai (Bungo Stray Dogs):

"No one can fully grasp another person's deepest emotions. It's impossible. Only you can understand what you're feeling. But generally speaking, I can tell you this. Most people tend to cry when their father dies." Can’t help but hate him. Can’t help but project onto him. He has fucked up a lot. and he will continue to do so. It is entertaining to watch, but sometimes he deserves a slap across the face (or several idk). Other times, a hug.

5. Wang (180 Degrees Longitude Passes Through Us):

"I will break free. Time is on my side, so I've decided to leave. But leaving doesn't mean I lost." I’m so proud of him. In a story where people struggled to change, he proved that it was still possible. His sheer will to gain something out of the heartbreaking experience he had, and to keep going despite being so lonely, so unheard. But also, the maturity to know which fights to pick. There’s so much to learn from him.

6. Togawa (Old Fashion Cupcake):

"I'm seducing you. I've been trying to seduce you, with everything I have. Although you never had a clue. I know...being seduced by someone of the same sex, isn't considered common sense for most people. Especially from a subordinate. But unfortunately, it's common sense to me. So I've been seducing you. I've been meaning to tell you this whole time, but I was afraid. I was scared of saying something that wasn't normal to you. But doing this...and telling you in such a horrible way... I'm so sorry. I like you. I like you so much, I could die." I couldn't have justified picking anything else.

7. Ink (Bad Buddy):

8. Anya (Spy x Family):

"Father is a tsundere." I've only had her for two episodes but if anything happened to her I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.

"I don’t know what to do with it. With all the love I have for her. I don't know where to put it now." I will always treasure fleabag.

10. Baek Hee-Sung (Flower of Evil):

"We’ve only known each other for 14 years. So of course, you’d be clueless of my intentions." Thinking about him leaves an ache in my chest. Mr. I've-never-felt-an-emotion really broke down on the streets after reuniting with his 4 yo daughter and then got called out by her for it. "Daddy, don't cry like before if you miss me, okay? You're a grown-up". So,, misunderstood.

11. Han Ju-Won (Beyond Evil):

"I'll be a monster and dive into hell. That is my way of atoning" He's on this list bc I miss his ass and this show.

RAHHHH i hate the cherik mfs. “christine should’ve chosen erik idc!” but if u were in christine’s position u would’ve absolutely cared?? she is a victim of abuse and it is so fucking disgusting how many people still romanticize cherik despite her never once showing any romantic attraction towards him at all, and the kiss doesn’t count because she did it as a last resort in hopes of him atleast letting raoul go and every single thought and feeling she has in this book is constantly ignored because she’s meant to be this damsel is distress, especially in the movie, which i feel is overlooking her character and what she’s gone through?? nobody in the story has actually cared what she thinks and what she wants because she’s beautiful and sings nice, which immediately erases anything she’s thinking because it simply doesn’t matter to anybody anymore, both in the fandom and in the book/musical/movie/any adaptation. it’s also annoying as fuck how everyone’s trying to justify erik’s actions by bringing up everything raoul did wrong, but erik is the one who actually abused christine. first he pretends to be the angel of music to gain christine’s trust, meaning he’s been lying to her since the moment they first met, and also using her dead father to manipulate her into trying to make her fall in love with him, and not taking no as an answer. it’s also rlly important to remember infatuation can be different than love in christine’s case. she was infatuated with the idea of him being an angel sent by her dead father, she wasn’t in love with erik. in most adaptations, christine is between the ages of 15 and 20, and the phantom is always over 30, this can count as grooming (directed at the mocie) despite the age christine is still a student and he is still her teacher, he has a position of power over her that other characters like raoul or meg or mme giry don’t have. “angel or father, friend or phantom, who is it there staring?” — direct quote from wandering child in act 2. she’s still confused about who he is and if he’s going to hurt her or not and what his intentions for her are. multiple songs in the musical also clearly demonstrate how scared she is of him, and rightfully so, after he murdered multiple people around her, some even in front of her, and kidnapped her twice. not to mention how he also tried to kill raoul, her fiancé, several times. the conversation she has with raoul on the rooftop in the book, she’s hesitant to be there because she has no privacy and erik is always watching her in some way so she can’t even talk to raoul for a few minutes without fearing for her life. back to the kiss in the final lair, despite how many interpretations there are, she has always cursed his name in the few moments leading up to kiss, and she only ever actually kissed him because she didn’t know if he was going to hurt her or not, it must’ve been terrifying for a 20 year old to have to kiss a man she doesn’t actually know as an attempt to save her life and possibly raouls. in the book the lives of countless parisians have been placed in her hands and erik is actively trying to force her to marry him as she can hear raoul in the torture chamber every so often simultaneously, knowing she can’t even help him. the mfs who try to tell me this isn’t abuse are the same mfs who only like the phantom because they think he’s hot 😕

this is a weird question so please feel free to ignore, but could you give some examples of how Sam specifically was toxic/unfair to Castiel? I feel like a lot of the criticisms I see of how the Winchesters treat him just attribute things Dean did to both of them (which is kinda fair bc Sam doesn't always stand up for him enough), but I was wondering if there's more than that

I don't think it's a very weird question; I think it's a very valid question and concern.

I am way more critical of Dean than I am of Sam, but there are things I am critical of Sam for. Mostly I get critical of him for, like you said, not standing up for Cas all the times when Dean was rude, cruel, or abusive toward him. Sam is often negligent towards these cruelties when Dean directs them at Cas; to an extent, I cut Sam slack for it because I view Sam to be another victim of Dean's abuse and it is NOT easy to stand up to your abuser, but the feral casgirl in me can't completely forget it either.

All in all, I don't have a lot of moments of Sam specifically (and separately from Dean) being toxic to Cas like I do for Dean (though this may be because I don't actively watch the show anymore), but there are a few that make my blood boil.

One of the scenes I hate the most is 9x22. This is the episode where Cas brings Sam and Dean to help him and his army of angels solve the death of one their own, and from the second the Winchesters walk in, they're very hostile to not just the angels around Cas but the idea of Cas being with his angel family. Dean calls Cas' interaction with his siblings a cult, and later Sam, completely unprompted by Dean, justified Dean's claims by saying Cas had "something weird going on there [with the angels]" and says that it's a "problem" that Cas' siblings trust and put their faith in him, because people have "been doing messed up crap in the name of faith, in the name of God, for forever." This scene absolutely disgusts me because Sam sees Cas finally being able to safely and happily be with his siblings (the siblings Cas has lived with and loved for eons and has recently had to kill or be killed by for years) and essentially tells Cas that he is 'playing God' and acting in ways that indicate he is 'mad with power' just because Cas is with the family he was a part of for eons again.

(Also, through the first half of this episode, Sam and Dean do nothing but tell Cas to his face that they don't trust Castiel's judgement or anything Cas does because they believe that Cas is inherently incompetent. And then immediately after this, Sam forces Castiel to ride in the passenger seat of Castiel's own car, on Castiel's own mission? This is so infuriating to me personally, because Sam made the conscious and independent decision to treat Cas as second-class in even the smallest ways possible in Cas' own environment. It's just a slap to the face that after they spent so long telling Cas that they don't trust anything he does, Sam refuses to let Cas even drive his own car. Like wtf.)

Another scene that makes me want to flip tables is in 7x21. In this episode, honey Cas is being taken care of by the demon Meg, and Sam asks Meg "what do you want with a broken angel, anyway?" He literally calls Cas broken. Then, Meg tells Sam that maybe if he's nice to Cas and butters Cas up, then Cas will bend over backwards to do anything Sam wants. Shortly after Sam and Meg have this conversation, Sam tells Cas he's worried about if the cage scars are hurting him, and lets Cas know that they're grateful that he tried so hard to help them and that he wants to help Cas get better. This scene gets talked about a lot as tender in the sastiel fandom, but a dear mutual pointed out to me that because this conversation between them happens right after Sam's conversation with Meg, it's way more plausible that Sam was taking Meg's advice and telling Cas what he wanted to hear so Cas would help them. That Sam was emotionally manipulating Cas into doing what he wanted is way more likely when you watch the actual scene again and realize that the camera actually specifically zooms out to show Meg as Sam and Cas are talking, as though to remind viewers of the scene that happened between Meg and Sam previously.

There's probably more, but being a bitter casgirl is literally so exhausting 😔

As I said, I'm not nearly as samcrit as I am deancrit, but I don't think Sam is entirely innocent when it comes to Cas, either. Hopefully this answers your question well, anon! Thanks so much for asking for the clarification.

- travis and connor stoll r way too underrated. the two have been head counselors of the hermes cabin since luke was revealed as a traitor, can u imagine the stress? luke, the person they probably looked up to as a brother, betrayed them. and they didnt even have time to process this when they were  thrown the roles of being hcs. that would have been so stressful and i would probably have broken down if i were them. the stoll brothers taking turns to wake up at ungodly hours because a new camper is crying and homesick and terrified, the stoll brothers having to comfort and take care of new campers, having to deal with the amount of people in that cramped space because not enough campers are being claimed fast enough. having to resolve issues between campers in the hermes cabin all the time. the stolls arent just comedic relief, and we need to stop treating them as such

- annabeth isnt smarter than leo but neither is leo smarter than annabeth. ive seen a lot of discussions about who is smarter and heres my hot take on it: neither. theyre equally smart, just in different ways. leos a genius mathematically speaking. he has no issues solving math problems meant for people much, much older than him. annabeth on the otherhand, is great at strategies etc. she can make an army of 1000 more powerful than the enemy, even if theyre outnumbered. so in my opinion, both are equally as smart//u cant compare their intelligence, because their talents lie in two different areas.

- while i do agree rick riordan isnt a god and that hes bound to make mistakes,, AND that hes given us a lot of representation,, if the representation offends the people its sposed to represent, then theres a problem. im talking about piper as a poc and wearing feathers in her hair. im not a poc, so i cant speak for them on whether or not its wrong, because i dont know either. HOWEVER, i have seen multiple posts BY pocs talking about how they didnt really like rick’s representation of piper, and thats an issue. pocs have been and are still oppressed and discriminated against by many. as a white cis man, we cant really blame him for not knowing (tho he could have done a research,, asked some pocs,, idk), but by representing pocs in that manner, hes influencing impressionable kids/teens into thinking “oh pocs wear feathers in their hair all the time” etc, which isnt true. the pjo/hoo series is extremely successful, and kids who read the books will probably start forming inaccurate opinions on pocs. the amount of fan art that depicts piper with feathers in her hair dont help either. “but rick said so in the books, so its canon” yeah well rick isnt a god and he can get some things wrong at times. im not saying we should cancel him, im saying we should start educating ourselves and not spread false info like pocs wearing feathers in their hair all the time. also that snake song shit where she sang Summertime was just- yeah. bc heres the thing you can be racist, and still include minorities, but portray them in a racist way. And even then, ignorance isn't a thing to admire. Getting those facts wrong still has a major impact. It continues to perpetuate racist stereotypes.

- the fact that most of the strong female characters in the series refuse to be “girly”, and ngl i dont really like that. just because ure girly doesnt mean u cant be strong. 

- piper would have been a great way for him to start making the strong characters act girlier, but instead he went with the “I’m not like other girls” trope which is quite obnoxious to hear constantly, and I don’t think it’s necessarily great for younger girls to read that idea growing up.  the closest we've ever had to a strong female character who was also into "girly" things was Silena. when I was younger I admired Piper's "I'm not like other girls" thing, but then I got older and realized that the whole mentality of "not like other girls" is super obnoxious, and a little bit toxic

What I meant was that I remember how people in the fandom would use that limpet story to make k8 look bad. It was like “hey look even Harry doesn’t like her!” kinda thing. Bc it justified their dislike for her.

And I’ve seen the meg h8rs do the same thing - “oh look willy is playing with his scarf, he hates her!” Bc the thought of the RF liking meg doesn’t fit their narrative.

So my comment was basically referring to the fact that it’s interesting that it’s now changed and the limpet story is being used against Harry to show that he’s just as a “bad brother” as Willy is.

In reality no one should have, or should be now celebrating the idea that these men are being purposely rude to their sister in laws.

(I don’t have any opinion on whether any of it is true, it’s the interpretation by the fandom that interests me). Xo
