BJP corporators attend birthday bash before Major Rane's body

BJP Insults Army - The BJP was left red-faced after a video went viral showing its MLA and corporators attending a birthday party in adjoining Mira Road township at a time when people were expecting to receive the body of Major Kaustubh Rane, who attained martyrdom in Kashmir.

The video, telecast by a Marathi TV channel, shows BJP legislator Narendra Mehta and a dozen BJP corporators from the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation celebrating the birthday of party corporator Anand Manjrekar in the township on Tuesday night.

The celebrations happened a day before the body of Major Rane, who was killed in Jammu and Kashmir during an operation to foil an infiltration bid, reached Mumbai.

Mehta was quick to tender an apology on the incident.

"What happened (the birthday bash) is extremely unfortunate. It shouldn't have happened," he said.

"All of us have expressed regret for it. This is not a political issue," he told the channel.

Over the last eight months, B-Town had almost come to a standstill following the coronavirus pandemic. While technicians, along with directors, worked from home on the post-production, the actors sat twiddling their thumbs. Finally, in August, Akshay Kumar was the first A-List actor to flag off a new film. The espionage thriller, Bell Bottom, was shot in Scotland in a start-to-finish schedule. Since then, other actors are slowly getting back in action, assessing the on-ground scenario with a few days of patchwork or a passing cameo. But post Diwali, the big four—Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Ranbir Kapoor—will jump into the battlefield, to embrace the new normal and kick off new projects. Salman, who got back to the set on October 2, after the longest break in his 30-year career, to wrap up his action-thriller Radhe without any casualties, will roll with the Mahesh Manjrekar directorial, Antim, from November 16. He plays a cop, pursuing a gangster, played by brother-in-law Aayush Sharma, in the Hindi adaptation of the Marathi crime drama Mulshi Pattern, which will be shot at a village on the outskirts of Pune, and studios in Karjat and Mumbai. Shah Rukh returns with a full-fledged feature film after almost 900 days. Pathan, directed by Siddharth Anand, rolls in the city before the month end. Interestingly, just before he flew to the UAE to root for his cricket team, Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, SRK shot a cameo for Aamir Khan’s next in the capital which served as a test shoot of sorts. The action-thriller also features John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, with Salman in a cameo, and is looking at a late 2021 release. ★Dabangg 3 Kannada version to be out in 250 theatres in Karnataka!

The Kannada version of Salman Khan’s upcoming Hindi film, Dabangg 3, has been creating a buzz in Karnataka even before its release date - December 20. It's all due to the presence of Sudeep as the antagonist in the film. Distributor Manjunath Gowda, who has bought the rights of the film, will be releasing it in over 250 theatres across the state.

“Dabangg 3 will be the first dubbed film to be released in so many theatres,” says Manjunath. “Several buyers from Mysuru, Shivamogga, and Davanagere want the Kannada version to be released in their areas,” he adds. Salman, who plays Chulbul Pandey in the film directed by Prabhudheva, will also be delivering dialogues in Kannada, which has further raised the viewers’ expectations. The film, made under the banners of Salman Khan Films and Arbaaz Khan Productions, will also see a simultaneous release in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. Dabangg 3features Sonakshi Sinha as the female lead, along with Mahie Gill, Tinu Anand, and Mahesh Manjrekar as part of the cast.

Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar received backlash on Twitter after an audio clip of his argument with fellow commentator Harsha Bhogle during the historic pink ball test went viral on the social media. The two were discussing the issues of visibility with the pink ball in a Day-Night Test when a disagreement of sorts occurred on air between them. “When there is a post-mortem done of this, and there should be a post-mortem of this game, the visibility of the ball will be a big factor against those white side screen,” Bhogle said. “Don’t think so,” Manjrekar replied. “Because when you see the way the catches at slips have been taken, the visibility does not seem to be an issue at all.
