Colossalcon 2017 Highlights

Wednesday:

-we went a day early with half our group, so check-in and unpacking was like a dream. -Our room was in the BEST hallway! Steps away from the convention, arcade, and waterpark!!! -The waterpark was fun! I finally explored the outdoor waterpark with the enticement of new slides! Went on all, body slides weren’t as much fun cuz water+nose= wtf. However, they had a drop slide, and since I’ve never been on one, I had to. Only scary for the seconds before the drop and as you drop. -Got my group’s badges extremely quickly, came just before a rush. -Drunken Shenanigans With Friends™

Thursday:

-Bit of relaxing and watching Familiar of Zero before the con started. -went to the arcade with a friend and got two dragons! Green for me, blue for him! Named mine Ruko. -Found my little blue bunny for only $5 at the craft fair! -Watched the Worldbuilding panel create a penal colony on an asteroid that’s out of contact with the rest of the universe. -Quiplash -Horror Gaming From West to East. During Yomawari... “WHAT DID I JUST SAY!?”

Friday:

-PHOTOSHOOTS GALORE! Kingdom Hearts, Rick and Morty, Steven Universe, Tales of, Undertale, and Persona! -Superheroes of Anime was VERY informative, might finally get into My Hero Academia. -Seeing the really tall Rose Quartz come last second at the Steven Universe photoshoot. -Shopping spree in the Dealer’s Room and watching two guy friends pick out sharp things and help me find my sharp things then help me figure out how to strap sharp things onto body. Don’t worry, it was just in the hotel room. -HOLY SHIT SO MANY PEOPLE AT THE PERSONA PHOTOSHOOT! SO MANY JOKERS! THERE WAS EVEN AN AKECHI WITH PANCAKES! -Walking around as Fidget with my Dust and having a LOT more people notice us than last year. “So your last name is spinner?” -More Drunken Shenanigans With Friends™

Saturday:

-History of Anime Cons, including the older guy who confirmed/expanded on a bunch of the stuff the panelist was telling us. -How to Make a Video Game in One Weekend. Best was totally Grandpa’s Graph. -RWBY panel with guests. Interesting to know that Vic sent in his voicework of the show. And Vic was approached by a Qrow cosplayer before he knew what Qrow looked like. -Homestuck Photoshoot was SO lucky to have both a Calliope AND a Caliborn! -I was the last one to play video games with Jason Leibrecht and of course, it was a version of Rainbow Road. N64 version. Someone complimented me as I went to walk out. - The Persona Panel, despite some spoilers for earlier games. - Peaked into the Here’s Johnny... Young Bosch panel. “What’s the most awkward line you had to say?” “My balls unit is broken!” “They're sensitive!” -Made the awesome discovery in the Cardcaptor Sakura panel that Nicole Oliver, best known for Princess Celestia, voiced Meiling in the original dub of Cardcaptor Sakura (Cardcaptors)!!!!! -All the sarcasm in the Gamer Gurlz Like Pink and Stuff panel. -Homestuck: Then and Now. So much forgotten of the early fandom because of the loss of the MSPA Forums. -More walking around as Dust and Fidget. -A friend that was technically not rooming with us was hanging in our room. He went out the door to go do/get something then ran back in the room shouting “SLYTHERIN!” A cosplayer peaked through the door, holding it open, and pointed to his badge and said he was a Ravenclaw. He then asked what house my friend was from, and he said Gryfindor. The Ravenclaw smirked and said no wonder he couldn’t get it right and how his house looks down on others but are cowards themselves then left. MIC DROP! -The Rick and Morty Panel - The Code Geass Panel

Sunday:

-Most of the stuff had been packed up into cars the night before, so it was easy, but still took til 11. Scared the shit out of half the room cuz I knocked on the door and basically went “WAKE UP BITCHES!” -Otaku Flea Market -One week in Japan panel, so informative. -Traditional Sonic Run as a relaxing finish.

ANIME NORTH 2017 PHOTOSHOOT DETAILS

Planned dates are

FRIDAY

and

SATURDAY

much like last year.

FRIDAY -> DT2 AT 5 SATURDAY - > DT2 AT 5

The shoots will be run much like the Homestuck photoshoots as they are considered "Sister Fandoms" even if most people who know Undertale don't know Homestuck (even if Toby Fox did work on homestuck first and worked in Andrew Hussie's Basement.)

This means that the rules are MUCH SIMILAR TO HOMESTUCK'S RULES.

Respect and be patient with the mods. I have bad anxiety and it takes me a bit of mental prep before these shoots but i want to do them for you guys. SO please when requesting have ONE person come up to request instead of a group.

No touching unless its under consent. A lot of people I noticed last year had really bad anxiety at the photoshoot because it was disorganized. There were at least 3 people (including myself) that had issues with being touched without being notified. If you know the person its okay, but if its a complete stranger PLEASE ASK.

Keep it PG13. A lot of children are involved in this fandom so NO UNDERTAIL. NONE. If you want to do that stuff please keep it private.

If you have speakers, please don't play sudden loud noises. So that goes towards people who are cosplaying Mettaton.

CLEAN THE AREA! DO NOT LEAVE TRASH ON THE GROUND. Last year i noticed that the place was TRASHED and it was really not cool. I know i can't control it but if theres trash please clean up after yourselves. I will even walk around the area to make sure that it isn't bad. We need to respect the grounds which we play on because we are guests.

No rough housing. None. Keep things safe

This also goes for slurs and harassment. NONE. NO TOLERANCE FOR ANY. That goes for the "Are you a girl? Or are you a boy?" joke with Frisk. One of the mods is agender and doesn't appreciate this even in jest. If any kind of harassment is heard of you will be asked to leave the event and not permitted to the next shoot (if the fandom is alive to see the day)

If you have a request, please don't shout it across the crowd. The mod CANNOT hear you. Even if she is loud, she cannot hear if the crowd is loud.

As far as large props go (I know there will be a lot) please keep in mind how big they are. I know my tail hit a LOT OF PEOPLE because it was big and i wasn't that aware of it so please keep your props on you and close to you. We don't need anyone getting hurt at these shoots.

The way the shoots will work is similar to homestuck in which character groups (or in the case of undertale singular characters) will be called up followed by characters in the areas of the game if theres enough people. After all canon things are finished, ships will be called up. If you have a request come see the mod and I will write it down. We will make every attempt to get to your request.

Each group will be up for 5 seconds to maximize time, so we can get to everybody's requests.

If theres any concerns that you have during the shoot feel free to come up to the mods and voice your concerns. Things will be dealt with very quickly and quietly so do not worry. We got you.

We’re happy to welcome any Homestucks attending Närcon Vinter to room 204, which will be occupied by Swedenstuck (together with the Doctor Who-room), and will host a multitude of awesomely sweet events! Here’s the schedule:

Thursday

19:00 Pyjamaparty meetup This wonderfully cozy meetup will involve snacks, drinks, hilarious games, awesome Homestuck fans, and possibly movies! Come as you are or in cosplay, bring something to sit on and maybe a blanket to feel cozy.

Friday

10:00 - 12:00 Make up workshop If you’ll be in cosplay make up - and especially body paint - during the day, come apply it together with us! Get help and company. Bring your own paint and mirror, though we’ll have some mirrors in the room.

15:00 - 15:30 Let Me Tell You About Homestuck A panel for anyone looking to get into the comic or wanting a better reply to “what is it about anyway?” We’ll be talking about the comic, how to read it, the fandom, and any other relevant details you’ll need to enjoy Homestuck!

Saturday

10:00 - 12:00 Make up workshop If you’ll be in cosplay make up - and especially body paint - during the day, come apply it together with us! Get help and company. Bring your own paint and mirror, though we’ll have some mirrors in the room.

13:00 OC-Workshop Come create and develop your Homestuck and non-Homestuck original characters! Throw ideas with other people, try some fun challenges, and find inspiration to create new or refresh old characters with us!

16:00 - 17:00 Photoshoot & Meetup OBS: The event will take place in the meetup room. A classic style meetup and photoshoot with some games and classic photo lineups!

18:00 CMV/Fanimation/fan project hour We’ll share some of our favourite Homestuck fan video projects with each other! We have a few classics lined up, but feel free to just drop in and add your favourite if you’d like!

20:00 Mafia Our traditional Homestuck-mafia eveing. If you still don’t know what mafia is, it’s about time you come play! But for a brief summary, it’s a sort of roleplay game with a Homestuck twist. Of course, anyone is welcome to join, Homestuck or not.
