abril waited in silence, beginning to pick more aggressively at her nail beds. with each passing moment, she could feel the knot in her stomach tighten. maybe it’s not too late to run abril thought to herself. after all, if aivryn was really mad at her, she might not even show. and then abril could have more time to prepare her apology. just as she looked longingly at her parked car and began to seriously consider making a run for it, the door unlocked. well then, here goes nothing. she took a deep breath and braced herself to be met with an angry aivryn. the door cracked open, and abril was greeted acknowledged by a scowl from the shadows. it was an expression abril recognized but had never been a recipient of. though she felt her anxiety heighten, abril braved aivryn's scowl with a small smile. “nice to see you too,” she answered, hoping her breathy laugh would alleviate some of the tension between them. but from what abril could make out through the crack of the door, aivryn was not in a joking mood. she then cleared her throat and stuffed her hands in her pockets. “right. um, can i come in? ” abril asked. “there are some things i need to tell you.”

Trust was not just a value to Aivryn; it was the foundation upon which she built her connections with others. She believed that trust was not given lightly but earned through honesty, transparency, and consistency. It was a two-way street, requiring both parties to be vulnerable and reliable. When she discovered that Abril had kept her new relationship a secret felt like a betrayal of that trust. It was a blow to Aivryn, who prided herself on being open and honest with those she cared about. Granted that she may or may not have overreacted but Aiv felt like her reaction was valid seeing as she had to find out through an Instagram post she didn't even notice the first time until she took a closer look. Her best friend was dating the goddamn florist. The very guy Aivryn got her flowers from to give to her. And then, to add insult to injury, the gossip blog revealed that Abril had kissed her favorite singer yet again. It left her questioning everything. Was her best friend really that good of hiding things from her? If Abril hid this relationship from her, what else was she hiding? The knock on the door followed by Abril's voice pulled her back to reality. Aivryn forced herself to stop biting her nails, a bad habit she never seemed to outgrow. considered speaking to Abril without opening the door but her little pink glittered heart couldn't stomach doing it to her best friend. Aiv took a deep breath before cracking the door open slightly. She didn't open it wide enough for Abril to enter, a gesture perhaps rude but justified in Aivryn's mind. Though technically Abril wasn't a cheater but still. "What?" The usual smile on her face was gone, replaced by a stone cold expression.
