Sorry but Louis wanted him to DJ at the festival just for his name. I'm sure he's a great DJ but this is something Louis would do just because he finds it funny
I just got back to my hotel after the Away From Home Festival and I needed to document my thoughts! This is the third festival in a row that I have attended and so far, this was my personal best experience. In Spain, I had planned poorly and ended up feeling dehydrated and sick, Italy was a travel nightmare (and the worst merch stand experience I have ever had), but Mexico was organized so well. Starting off, I actually got my bracelet this time (unlike Italy where most of them got thrown in the trash??). The merch line was short and efficient (I got a beautiful t-shirt—Louis’ merch never misses). The entire area was lively with colorful food stands, banners, lights, a giant AFHF sign in front of some stone. There was plenty of space, but it still felt like there were a lot of people there. The atmosphere was so chill, I loved it. Surprisingly, I never felt hot, the sun went down quickly and there was a gusty breeze most of the night.
Now for the music…
I completely missed Rodrigo Leal. I could hear Gibby while I went through the line outside (and I saw him later getting photos with fans). I thought he sounded great. I listen to some of his songs sometimes. Reverend and the Makers were better than I thought they would be. The lead singer fumbling with the Mexican flag was a bit comical, but they sounded tight as a group. Honestly, Dylan was kind of my favorite (of the openers). I didn’t really vibe with her music before the concert, but she was great on stage, and I respect that she cut all the Harry stuff. She added a rock edge to her more pop-y songs, and it changed them for the better. I don’t know she was just so charismatic on stage I dug it. Kevin Kaarl was clearly adored by the audience. Unfortunately, I don’t speak a word of Spanish, so I did not understand anything (and may have taken a bit of a snooze on the ground during his set). However, that is not to say I thought he was bad, quite the opposite. It was a nice change of pace, and his voice was moving. I love the DMA’s and were stoked that they were performing this year. They did not disappoint. I was a little distracted because Oli was like fifteen feet away from me singing along and dancing it was really cute 😊. It was so cool to have such a big band there at Louis’ festival. Ooooh the lineup was certainly my favorite of all the AFHFs I have been to so far. Spain is a close second, but I truly loved every act here, and in the case of Dylan, found her way more compelling in person.
Now for Louis…
He is pretty isn’t he. I can’t believe he essentially wore the poster as his outfit. His hair was perfect, and his skin glistening.
My top five songs from the night (in order of the setlist) were: MEGAMIX—All this time is the perfect song argue with the wall, and the live album made me appreciate the intro and transition between att and sibwawc even more than before, I though all of those sounds were prerecorded track, but I saw Steve messing with one of those sound board thingies in real time… neat! WALLS—this song just makes me emotional, especially when the crowd is so into it like they were tonight. BACK TO YOU—as much as I love a sappy moment, a festival set should be energetic and fun, and that’s what back to you is, she had me jumpin’. SATURDAYS—I admire that he has the confidence to sing alone at the microphone with hardly any backing instrumental for that long, it is so pretty, but when that build up pays off it is soooo good, the wall of sound was really taking the pain away on this Saturday. SILVER TONGUES—trust I meant it when I said, ‘I don’t feel like going home,’ what a jovial song I’m smiling just thinking about it, this song fills me with warmth!!
The instrumental outro is sick, and I can never remember what it sounds like, so that was fun to hear. I was trying not to be a grouch about the 1d songs, but why is night changes there for real? If he replaced it with We Made It, or HEADLINE?!?!?! this would be a darn good setlist. Drag me down is actually pretty good in my opinion. Where do Broken Hearts Go is fine live, but I dislike it in principle (if you’re going to sing a 1d cover, at least pick one you wrote on?).
The worst part of the night was when Chris walked right in front of me during night changes.
The best part of the night was going balls to the walls during Silver Tongues.
Truly the night (especially Louis’ set) flew by! I had a great time and cannot wait to see what is in store for next year :)

has something happened, Cara? did i miss something? sofia stunt as in sofia the scandinavian girl everybody forgot about? is she back? what has asia to do with that stunt? totally agree that louis' career would only benefit if there were some women in his team but i'm really confused about what exactly you're talking about now. have a lovely weekend!
Hi!
Oh my comment was set off by the AFHF announcement, and the subsequent detective rabbithole everyone went down trying to figure out where it will be this year, and loads of people saying Mexico bc of the cacti in the picture plus that Mexican promoter account tweeting and deleting AFHF recently. I got riled up about how badly they failed last year for AFHF, how we could tell right from when they announced it (quite late) to then being there and seeing how they only sold 2/3 of tickets and not even everyone showed up. They had to cut back massively on staff (one of the reasons why entry was handled so badly and why they didn’t have enough staff to hand out the wristbands), and how they absolutely need to have a (financial) success with this year‘s AFHF in order to not have the whole festival get jeopardised and maybe cancelled. And that led to me talking about the root problem of the team being just men, and then listing examples of their recent fuck ups that very likely wouldn’t have happened that way if they had a woman on their team they‘d listen to once in a while, like for example the Sofia stunt. I guarantee you that no man on that team even thought about the fact that in 2023, with a majorly queer, feminist female fanbase that huge age gap could be problematic for Louis‘ image with his fans, because men in general don’t think about much younger women being with older men as problematic at all. They dropped her like hot iron *after* the backlash from all sides. Then they didn’t handle communication well when they cancelled Asia at all. Like. At all.
For AFHF, I understand that Mexican fans are super passionate but I already gotten many messages by latam fans saying even though living in Mexico City they wouldn’t be able to afford it. I don’t think it’ll be in Mexico, they really need to be in the black numbers for this year‘s AFHF, so they need it to be accessible to fans with strong financial powers. Europe has the majority of louis‘ fandom with strong financial power, and logistically it would be crazy to fly back and forth about 16-18 hours between European festivals for AFHF, if he could do it in Europe again.
If he keeps it in a similar time frame (august) as the past (although he’s already had the first announcement two months earlier than usually), there’s only the last July or last August weekend (going into September) available.
A friend actually sent me the Ponte de Segura bridge that looks a lot like the viaduct used in the picture, and it’s right at the border of Portugal to Spain. End of July he’s got two festivals in Portugal and Spain, and he could easily oversee the set up during the week between those two.
There’s also huge festival grounds 20 minutes from that bridge, that usually hosts the BOOM festival, but only every other year - meaning that July weekend is free for 2024 and the infrastructure for the festival has been well established (since 1997) with shuttles, vendors, camp sites, stage infrastructures… it looks really great.
The thing that still got me entertaining Mexico as a possibility is the cacti that have been edited in, that mostly only grow in South America, and the Mexican promoter.
Anyways, tell me louis wouldn’t go for this?? The shore, the lake, the rocks, the surroundings, the heat??
Anyways the real clowning begins if you imagine louis launches AFHF to be TWO days by having Niall headline the first day… that would certainly draw the necessary crowds and they’re already doing a bit of the festival run together this summer 🤡🤪
Wasn’t it such a big deal last year when the AFHF location was leaked? And now it’s all over twitter and instagram again😭 I know we don’t know the exact location yet or date but like where’s the line then?? It’s okay to reveal the country but anything else is too much?
Ugh… I remember.
I will never understand the secrecy around it all and the repercussions HLD for instance, had to endure because they reported about a website mentioning the AFHF was going to be in Spain. I wasn’t even surprised because we had known for months that it was going to be in Spain. (one of the bands (I can’t remember who) added the Spanish flag to their celebratory post about playing at AFHF)
And didn’t that all lead to Louis blocking @hldailyupdate as punishment? That was such a stupid move of him. I still don’t get why he did that. In the meantime @lthqofficial utilizes @hldailyupdate as if nothing has happened. 🤦🏼♀️
It reminds me of how my post with a screenshot and amazon link of the leaked FITF album got flagged by Tumblr - like what’s the point going after fans who did nothing wrong but comment on a leak that was never their fault to begin with…
Sorry I kinda fell into a rabbit hole of emotions there hahaha.
primary market is nyc la and the big cities while the small cities are secondary market, I think anything besides us and uk is like... tertiary market if it's still western Europe or Canada or Australia and probably like quartiary if it's anywhere else in the world rip🤦🏻♀️
However you call it, my point still stands..... why is middle of nowhere, USA even considered a market, when he's not hitting the necessary primary markets of North America, other countries of Europe and for him especially, Mexico???
I understand if he wants to do a 'North American' focused promo (which means the USA for LTHQ), but I can't believe he was in Scranton PA but not even in Toronto??? Other artists would skip Mexico (you know why) but for Louis it really should be on the top cities...
Let's not talk about the fact that he only did UK promo with those two randoms interviews in Italy and Netherlands, leaving France, Spain (where he just had AFHF?!), Germany (where BMG is headquartered?!?!!)?????
Maybe I'm focusing too much on Toronto since I live in this country. But LTWT had only 2 Canadian cities, and Toronto was the only show that was cancelled at the last minute. It would have been a nice gesture to have an M&G. there. There's demand for him here and any proper artists tours at least TO, Montréal and Vancouver, if not other big cities in this stupidly big country. Toronto is the English-speaking culture capital of Canada; hell the whole world was talking about TIFF a few days ago. It blows my mind that he would skip that and instead do a country-side tour of the USA.
I've said it before but this radio 'promo' tour is a waste of everyone's energy.
i don’t think he will struggle with italy he sold 36k in ONE show
Yes, I think that's the reason they are going for big venues and more than 1 show in Italy and Spain but the tickets for the festivals at the end of the tour were a mix of fans from all over the world going there because there were no more dates on other countries and also people had saved money for more than 2 years... Which is not the case now...
But don't get me wrong, if he sells these big venues as easy as San Siro or the AFHF I'm going to get drunk to celebrate it because Louis deserves to play at the Camp Nou like the king he is.
Just got home from work and caught up and glad Louis is finally free ❤️ but I just want to say the reasoning for the breakup is so weak ‘A source said it out pressure on their relationship, Louis being away for so long’ because she was frequently on holiday throughout the year so she could have easily joined Louis on tour for a few days and then gone on holiday with her friends or whatever, but instead she decided to leave Spain when he arrived for the AFHF and leave the country when he finished his first solo world tour.. so she could have made an effort to go see him but didn’t it’s not like she has a job
It’s just the easiest narrative. The truth would be… harder to explain in a tabloid puff piece lmfao
I ate to talk about her but because it seems you don't keep up w her at all, when Louis had a break and went to London she literally went to Greece with her friend, one week before the AFHF she travelled to Ibiza (Spain) and left to England right when Louis arrived to Malaga (which is a 40 minutes flight from where she was lol)
They haven't spent a single day together since Glastonbury and Louis seems to have blacklisted every question about her on interviews so yeah, people please stop talking shit cuz them getting married makes less than zero sense lmao
i had forgotten she was there lmaoooo Glastonbury nouis lives in my head rent free. yes pls free me from all this elk discussion i do not like her at all
