Osimhen participates in the first training session with Galatasaray after the AFCON 2025 qualifiers
Tumblr media
Victor Osimhen, a striker for the Super Eagles, participated in his first Galatasaray training since joining the team. Before departing for his foreign assignment in Nigeria, Osimhen hardly had time to complete the transfer and land in Istanbul. The 25-year-old played in two of the Eagles' 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches as a substitute. Nigeria defeated Benin Republic 3-0 thanks to a goal by Osimhen, who entered the game off the bench. But after forty-five minutes, he missed all of his shots, and the three-time African champions were held to a scoreless tie in Rwanda. Osimhen was seen warming up and practicing drills with his new teammates at Galatasaray on Thursday. Whether he will play at all when the Turkish champions meet Rizespor this Saturday is still up in the air. Read the full article

AFCON 2025 qualifier: In Uyo, the Super Eagles excel against the Cheetahs
Tumblr media
Nigeria's Super Eagles secured a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic in Uyo for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. The game began with an easy start, with Ademola Lookman missing an opportunity to score. Wilfred Ndidi's goal was saved by Atalanta winger, but Saturnin Alagbe's stop in the half-hour mark prevented Samuel Chukwueze from scoring. Goalie Stanley Nwabali had to be alert to stop a free-kick by Steve Mounie five minutes before halftime. Nigeria took the lead in the first half with a goal from Lookman. Nigeria had a chance in the second half but missed it. Benin Republic gained momentum with Mounie probing Nwabali from inside the box. Nigeria's Victor Osimhen scored the second goal, followed by Wilfred Ndidi setting up Lookman for his second goal in the 82nd minute.
