You Scared Me To Death !
Pairing - Max Verstappen x Reader
Fandom - F1
Summary - When you get hurt, Max realizes just how much you mean to him.
Warnings - mentions of injury, fire, explosion, violence, angst, crash details.
Tumblr media
75 laps. That's all that you had to do. Drive for 75 laps. The Bahrain Grand Prix had always been one of your favourite races of the year, and you were so excited. But that excitement had soon ebbed away, after you had missed qualifying because your car wasn't ready for the quali session. The RedBull mechanics had apologised and you had brushed them off, buy you would be lying if you said you weren't angry. It hadn't helped when your teammate and boyfriend Max qualified P1, beating the Mercedes by mere tenths of a second. You had swallowed your hurt and congratulated Max, forcing yourself to feel happy for him.
All it had done was made you determined to win the race tomorrow, even if you had to fight 19 other drivers to do so. Starting P20 on the grid sucked big time, but as Martin Brundle said, "If anyone can fight back from the back of the grid to the podium places, its Y/N L/N" and you had done it before, at the German GP the previous year, fighting back from P19 to P3, winning Driver of The Day as well.
But this race was different. There was a building intensity in the air, you felt it in the air around you. You felt tense and nervous, and you were never nervous. It scared you, but you were going to be damned if you let it show on your face. In your drivers room, you paced back and forth, trying desperately to stop your hands from shaking. Was this what anxiety felt like? you wondered, shaking your head as your heart started hammering against your chest. Far to consumed in your own panicked thoughts, you didn't see your boyfriend walk up to your door, and open it to walk inside.
Max walked into your room, expecting to see you vibing to some R&B music, or something by Rihanna. But you weren't. You were pacing, your brow furrowed and he could see the irregular rise and fall of your chest. He walked up behind you silently, before wrapping his arms around your waist, like he normally did. What he wasn't expecting was your reaction. Usually, you would giggle and let your head fall onto his shoulder, and he would kiss your neck and you two would share a moment. But not this time. This time, you jumped, and nearly fell over onto your bed. "Woah schtaje ! It's just me' he said, eyes softening in concern. "I'm sorry I didn't see you and I shouldn't have jumped, I'm sorry I'm just so klutzy today and I'm also so nervous I-" your nervous rambling was cut off by a pair of warm lip pressing onto your own, as Max's hands cupped your face, instantly calming down your nerves.
You stayed like that for a moment, before pulling away softly, and letting him press his forehead down to yours, fingers gently tracing patterns on your hip. "Why are you nervous mijn geliefde ?" he asked, as he moved his lips to your neck, pressing little kisses along the sensitive skin. "I don't know" you confessed, tilting your head back to give him more access to the expanse of skin, while he stopped at a pulse point to suck at the soft skin, earning. soft moan from you. "Then stop stressing" he mumbled against your neck, word muffling against your skin. "I can't" you replied, struggling to keep the lump in your throat fro growing. "Well," Max said, biting down onto your neck and licking the spot to soothe it, 'Let me help you calm down"
--------------------------------
20 seconds to lights out.
Your heart was thumping so hard against your chest. God, were your hands always so clammy? Was the car always so stuffy ? Was the space always so confined? Was your helmet always that tight?
Your thoughts were muddled. You knew your goal. It was simple. Get to the podium. Except, right now, that goal seemed somewhat impossible. Before you knew, the first red light was flashing, and then the second, and the third and the fourth and the fifth, and then it was 'lights out and away we go!' you sped off, immediately overtaking Magnussen in the car ahead of you. Then, you overtook one of the Williams, but you could feel your breath wavering, and your heart threatening just burst out of your chest. And before you knew it, you were overtaking Giovinazzi in his Alfa Romeo, and the sight of Grosjean's Haas came into view, "And it looks like L/N has already taken over 4 places, making her P16, and we are on lap 2 of 75! It looks like we're going to see her on the podium after, all, but all we can do is wait and see- and oh! that's a terrible, terrible crash!"
It happened so fast. One moment, you were going round the outside of the Haas, and the next the back of the Haas was hitting your front, sending you crashing into one of the barriers, your car spinning a full 360 in the process. The impact as you crashed into the barriers was so intense, you felt yourself blackout for a few seconds.
"That was a horrible crash, between, the RedBull of Y/N L/N and the Haas, I believe of Romain Grosjean. This race has been red flagged and -oh no!' The cry summed it up. Your car had just burst into flames.
------------------------------------
In P1, Max was unaware of the chaos at the back, until he looked in his rear mirrors to see something enveloping into a ball of fire. "Holy shit, whose car is that?" he asked, watching as the flames grew higher. "Um.. Max, I need you to stay calm, but its Y/N" "Are you fucking serious?!" his angry voice burst through his race engineer's headphones, making him flinch. "Is she okay?! Tell me she's okay, damn it!' "Max, I need you to come into the pit lane. We have no information on her yet. Come into the pit lane"
As the 18 other cars came into the pitman, everyone knew better than to park in the way of an anxious Max Verstappen. He jumped out of the car, running to the garage upto Christian, who was watching the screen with his eyebrow furrowed. "Is she alright? Tell me she got out?! Did she get out?!" he was practically spitting the words out, and his engineer and his trainer had to physically restrain him from going to shake Christian. "She hasn't got out yet Max, but the fire Marshalls and the medical guys are there-" "What do you mean she hasn't got out? verdomme, blijf hier niet zitten! doe iets!!"
As his race engineer manoeuvred him to his chair, he yelled at whoever was around, eyes desperately searching to screen for some sign that you were still alive. Outside the RedBull garage, the other drivers were pooling around the garage for some sign that Y/N was okay. The panic had been evident in all their radios.
Charles - "Fuck, fuck, fuck, who was that? Y/N?! Tell me she's okay!"
Carlos - "Joder, ¿quién era ese?" I just saw the car go into flames, tell me they got out okay.
Lewis - oh shit, that was a big crash, fucking hell, is she okay?
Checo- oh no, that was a big one, I hope everyone is okay!
---------------------------------
Back in the car, you felt dazed. Since when was the track this hot, and since when when was your car red ? Were you driving for Ferrari ? No, you drove for RedBull, alongside Max. Your boyfriend Max. Why wasn't he here?
And why did you feel like you were sitting in a sauna? As you begain to regain your consciousness, you felt a searing pain on your hands, and finally clearing the fogginess of your mind, you became fully aware of what was happening. This was your RedBull car. But it was on fire. Almost instantly, your body went into survival mode, ripping the half burnt straps holding your body down, and forcing your limbs to stand up. Looking down you could see your racing gloves glow before they seemed to disintegrate into black dust before your eyes, the flames licking your hands. A scream started in your chest, only to be jammed in your throat, as you opened your mouth to gasp. Big mistake.
The smoke filled your mouth and lungs, and you choked, clawing at your race suit, begging some higher power to help you. Finally, using some courage and adrenaline you didn't know you had, you pulled your body up, bare hands coming in contact with searing hot metal, as your eyes filled with tears of pain. As you jumped out of the car, you became vaguely aware of 3 or 4 people signaling and screaming at you. Too exhausted to even think, you used whatever remaining adrenaline you had to stumble to the barrier and collapse into the first pair of arms.
"Can you hear me? Are you okay? Can you tell me if you're hurt?" The questions were hurled at you from all directions, but you couldn't speak. The head marshall walked up, bracing your body, and checking for injuries. In a hurried voice he asked for the stretcher, but you shook your head. The exhaustion was setting in but you knew you had to let the others know you were okay. But he insisted, and you found yourself sitting on the stretcher instead of lying down, as a medic gently removed your helmet and peeled off the remaining burnt glove, and pressed some ice gently against your burn. Mustering up your remaining strength, you turned to one of the broadcasting cameras and flashed them a tight smile and a thumbs up.
"And as you can see, she has managed to get out of the wreckage, by God's miracle. Thank God she's walked away from that, but how, I cannot comprehend! She went barelling into the barrier and burst into flames and she walked out alive! And I can hear the cheers of the RedBull team, and I think her race engineer is in tears. I can't begin to imagine how Max Verstappen must be feeling"
------------
Max Verstappen wasn't sure how he was feeling either. He had felt fear, anger, anxiety, more fear, devastation and dread in the longest 15 minutes of his life. But you were alive. And he felt like breaking down, but he had to be strong for you. He watched your tired form on the screen, feeling giddy with relief, and ignoring the others around him, he ran to the medical hospitality center. No one stopped him.
As the white building came into sight, he heaved a sigh of relief as Michael Masi appeared in front of the cameras to give the anxious fans an update. "Y/N is alright. She's currently in recovery, and I can inform you that she is okay. She has minor burns on her hands, and is exhausted, but she will be okay. 2 weeks healing time for the burns, and some proper rest should be fine for her. That's all I know, and I would ask the media, press, social media fans, and others to give her the time she needs to cope and recover. What she has been through is traumatizing and I hope you will respect her privacy at this time. Thank you"
Seeing his hesitation, the nurse turned to the driver, "It's okay. She's fine now. She's on some painkillers and I've cleaned her burns and dressed them. She will be fine, and you can hug her or whatever you want, she won't be hurt. I've kept some painkillers on the table, she should take some again in 2 hours or so" All Max could do was nod, suddenly feeling a lump grow in his throat. With a smile in your direction, the nurse walked out of the room, leaving you alone with Max.
Max turned to nod at the race director, before hurrying through the brown door that led to the medical room you were in. When he walked in, his entire body relaxed. You were alive and safe. Seeing you sitting up in bed, a bottle of water by your side as a nurse wrapped your burnt hand in a white bandage. Looking, your tired eyes met his blue ones, as a tired smile made his way to your face. "Y/N",he said breathily, "Thank God you're alive" he said, practically running over to you, but he stopped himself from hugging, unsure of if it would hurt you.
"Hey baby". All it took was two words for him to rush towards you, gently wrapping his arms around your form, burying his head in the crook of your neck, as a gasping sob left his mouth, and you could have sworn you felt your heart shatter. "I'm okay baby, I'm okay. I'm not going anywhere, and I'm okay" your mantra of "I'm okay" was soothing, as he sobbed into your shoulder. "I thought I'd lost you, you scared me to death!" "I know my love but I'm here and I'm okay" "I thought you were gone. When I saw the flames behind me I didn't even know it was you in the car. When they told me it was you I swear my fucking heart stopped, and all I could do was pray to whatever higher power exists to save you, because I'm nothing without you. If you hadn't made it, I wouldn't survive. You make me better, you help me love, and you let me heal. I love you, and I never, ever want to see you in a situation like that again"
"I love you too" you said, your eyes filling with tears as you listened to him speak. "I love you too" you repeated, gently lifting his chin so his eyes could meet yours, his tear stained cheeks and red eyes breaking your heart, as you tilted your lips to meet his. He returned the kiss with desperation, he needed even more proof that you were alive, and feeling your lips on his were a reminder that you were alive and weren't going anywhere. He kissed you with fervour, hands moving to your hair, one cupping your cheek as his thumb traced your cheekbone, your hands clutching his broad chest.
"Ouch" the soft cry made you two break apart, as you rubbed your stinging hands. "Did I hurt you?" He said, his eyes filling with worry. "No its just the burn. It'll be fine" you replied, shifting in your bed and patting the spot next to you. After a moments hesitation, he climbed in, raising the sterile white sheet and tucking the both of you in. You snuggled up to him, arms wrapping around him as you rested your head on his chest. He rested his chin on your head, one hand running through your hair, the other keeping you stable on his chest. Within seconds, you were asleep.
Looking down at your sleeping form, his eyes lingered on the white bandage covering your burn, his eyes filling again as it stood out against your skin. He hated it. It was a reminder that you had nearly died. He had nearly lost you. His train of thought was cut off by his phone ringing, his mum's caller ID flashing across the screen.
"Hi mum" "Is she okay?" His greeting was pushed aside, his mom far too concerned about Y/N. "Yes she's alright now. She's sleeping now, Yeah I'm with her now" "Y/N's mom is with me too, I'll let her know she's okay" "Thanks mum" "Don't forget to rest as well Max" his mum said, knowing full well that her son would forget about taking care of himself when it came to his love. "I will"
And he cut the line. He looked down at you one more time, pressing his lips to your forehead, and swearing to himself that he would protect you for all his life. He let his eyes close, the exhaustion finally getting to him, all his adrenaline and energy draining out his body, and finally content that you were going to be okay, he let his eyes close.
You were going to be okay.

Silence is for libraries, not your music. So, when those annoying pauses pop up in between tracks, consider it a thing of the past.
Now, with our new gapless playback, Deezer HiFi fans won’t need to fast-forward or wait for the next track to begin. You can listen to any high definition tracks, whether it’s your favorite live album or classical orchestra without any breaks in true CD quality.
“I’m constantly playing music at my house, especially when I invite my friends over. I can’t tell you how many times I had these awkward moments of silence while we all waited for the next track to come on. Gapless on HiFi allows me to focus only on the music,” said Benoit Terpereau, our VP of Product at Deezer.

Best Marvel Comics to Binge Read on Marvel Unlimited
https://ift.tt/2UR4Tzi
With an enormous swath of the world involved in varying degrees of social distancing, many of us suddenly find ourselves with a lot of time on our hands. Never fear! There are more options for streaming comics than ever before, and that means we have access to more of comics history, more hidden gems, and more epochal runs than ever before. But the variety of options to read can be daunting. That’s why we’ve put together a recommendation list of some of our favorite comics binge reads to help you through quarantine. Marvel Unlimited has been around for more than a decade. It runs about six months behind print release of books, so it’s a good way to stay sorta-current with the stories you love. But the real draw is the back catalog: with 25,000 issues in its library, you’ve got access to some of the most important and most entertaining runs of superhero books of all time. From Lee and Kirby creating the modern superhero comic in the pages of Fantastic Four through Chris Claremont and John Byrne revolutionizing the X-Men, and through several Wars (Secret, Infinity, or Civil), everything is here.
You don’t need us to tell you to read some of these stories. You know “The Dark Phoenix Saga,” Kraven’s Last Hunt, “Demon in a Bottle,” or Jonathan Hickman’s behemoth are all important and good. And some of them, Marvel’s even giving you for free. We’re going to skip over some of the obvious ones and point you towards hidden gems, the harder to find stories that fill in the edges of the Marvel Universe and make it such a rich, lush experience. We are also looking for monster runs that will keep you occupied – you can read six issues in one sitting with no danger of nearing the end. Some of these might take you an entire round of social distancing to finish.
A quick note about the reading guides: We’ll list out the issue numbers for most of these. Many of them may have their own separate entry under Marvel Unlimited’s reading lists – those are helpful, but these are definitive. One of them, we’re going to refer you to the events – to find those, you can go to “Browse”, then scroll over to “Comic Events.” And for one of these, we’re linking to the inordinately helpful Comic Book Herald. They’re a great site for comic reading orders in general, and have helped me through several other binge reads before.
Walt Simonson’s Thor
Thor (1966) #337-360, Balder the Brave (1985) #1, Thor #361-362, Balder the Brave #2-4, Thor #363-382
This probably shouldn’t be on the list. It is in the conversation for the greatest runs on any superhero comic ever. But if you’ve never read it, you’re truly missing out.
If you watched Thor: Ragnarok and loved how it looked or any of its story, chances are you are going to adore this, the run that Ragnarok borrowed so much from. Walter Simonson took the Asgard realized by Jack Kirby, the mythological realm pumped full of color and Kirby dots, and turned everything way up to create the most iconic Thor run of all time. Simonson started the run on art before handing off to Sal Buscema, and Simonson and Buscema are two of the artists I could recognize by style the soonest. Everything is HUGE.

It’s paced immaculately, with whatever story is in the foreground holding your complete attention, but always with something drip drip dripping in the background that will eventually crescendo. This run made so many characters wonderful, but Loki, Volstagg, and Beta Ray Bill are highlights. And have I mentioned the art? It’s incredible, and doesn’t suffer one bit when Buscema takes over. This is my favorite run on any comic of all time. You absolutely must read it.
X-Men: the Messiah Cycle
Messiah CompleX, Messiah War, and X-Men: Second Coming
The hottest take you’re going to find on the internet today is this: the Messiah Cycle is the best era of X-Men comics. It has everything I want from the X-Men line: books have distinct voices and missions, but contribute to the overarching direction of the line. There IS an overarching direction to the line. New characters are brought to the front, and new ideas are injected into the line.

You get all of that from the Messiah era. Messiah CompleX picks up with Cerebro identifying the first mutant birth in years; Messiah War has the members of the Mutants with Claws and Swords era X-Force heading to the future to check up on that baby; Second Coming is when she returns to present day. Each one has a different tone; Messiah CompleX and Second Coming bring together every book in the line to tell their stories, but also let each creative team keep telling their stories and end up being the best-handled X-crossovers since Inferno. And Second Coming is the best straight action X-book I think I’ve ever read.
If you like these crossovers, you should absolutely check out other books from this era. Utopia X, a crossover between Uncanny X-Men and Dark Avengers, is amazing, as is Duane Swierczynski and Ariel Olivetti’s Cable and Zeb Wells’ New Mutants.
Mark Gruenwald’s Captain America
Captain America (1968) #307-422, 424-443
Full confession: this is my current binge read. After years of hearing about how wonderful Gruenwald’s Cap was, I finally decided to jump in and within three issues, I was texting people to scream at them for not forcing me to read it sooner. For starters, the goddamn Serpent Society turns into a union. In fact, the Serpent Society’s union meeting is the most fun I’ve had reading a comic scene in a while, and the fact that it is based on a real meeting of comic book creators from 1978 makes it both more accurate sounding and HILARIOUS (I think Constrictor is Gil Kane, when you read it).

But the real appeal is how much movie Cap is based on this era. Gruenwald’s Steve Rogers is a really nice guy. Everybody loves him, everyone respects him, and there’s not a lick of condescension or mean spiritedness about anything he does, from sparring with Black Knight to taking on a gang of criminal jugglers with Hawkeye to trying to help joke villains like Rocket Racer. He’s also extremely competent, and Gruenwald and artist Paul Neary do an incredible job of showing this, as Cap breaks into the West Coast Avengers’ headquarters while trying to figure out, through his jet lagged brain, what day it is. It only gets bigger and more traditionally superhero as it goes on, with artistic contributions from the likes of Kieron Dwyer, Ron Lim, and others.
You’ll see even more of this run’s influence in Marvel’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier TV series on Disney+, as it introduces key characters who we’ll see on screen there, so get reading, and pay attention!
Runaways
Runaways (2017) #1-current
Rainbow Rowell’s current run as writer on Runaways captures the Marvel spirit better than just about any comic coming out right now. It’s a masterful mix of superheroics, joyful immersion in Marvel continuity, and soapy teenage drama. A lot of people are doing good work at Marvel right now, but nobody is hitting these notes as consistently well as this crew.
This book is remarkably accessible for something so steeped in its own history. If you’re new to comics, or if you’re here because of the Hulu show, you’ll find plenty to love. But if you liked the original series from Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, you’re going to be shocked at how much this feels like if that same book had never ended. Even though the characters have grown and changed substantially, their voices are distinct and seamless. This is one of my favorite Marvel comics being published right now, and once you’re all caught up, make sure you add it to your pull list at your shop.
Darth Vader
Darth Vader (2015) #1-12, Star Wars: Vader Down #1, Darth Vader #13, Star Wars (2015) #13, Darth Vader #14, Star Wars #14, Darth Vader #14-25
Remember that moment in Rogue One where Vader just kicked the shit out of everyone without looking like he was trying? And how everyone squealed in delight at old, force of nature, badass villain Darth Vader being back? If you were reading the comics at the time, that moment had already happened for you a full 18 months before the movie came out, in Darth Vader #6.

Star Wars: Darth Vader’s Best Moments from the Marvel Comics
By Marc Buxton
This entire series is Vader killing everything he can. It’s like watching a space tornado. What’s especially surprising, though, is how Kieron Gillen manages to sneak some important character development into the book. While Vader slices through Sith intrigue and Rebel scum and the entire royal line of a mining planet and a bunch of others, we’re also learning about why he’s the way he is. This series takes place between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, so some of the lines that get filled in add to the rest of the OT as well. There have been several very good Star Wars comics since Marvel got the license back, but this run on Darth Vader is the best.
Ultimate Spider-Man
Ultimate Spider-Man saved Marvel Comics. Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley didn’t do it with flashy variants or crossovers. They did it by telling good, pure, core Spidey stories.
It’s hard to separate Peter’s origin from Ultimate Spider-Man from Peter’s origin in the 616. The Ultimate origin is so definitive and iconic in how it fills in the spaces between the necessary beats. Bagley’s art especially – even now, thinking about this series that I haven’t read in forever, I can still pull up Peter jumping over Norman’s car, or MJ’s face when she and Peter have “the talk.”

For the absolute best, and purest this book can be, just read the first 38 issues, ending with the first Venom arc, but the book stays solid for its entire run. Bendis’ work with both Peter Parker and Miles Morales is my favorite work of his career, especially when Miles joins the cape world, but nothing will ever match just how fantastic these first few arcs of Ultimate Spider-Man are.
The Annihilation Era
Annihilation, Annihilation: Conquest, War of Kings, Realm of Kings, and The Thanos Imperative
You will be hard pressed to find better comic book space opera than the Abnett/Lanning era of Marvel’s cosmic characters. Marvel’s cosmic line was an afterthought when these first started coming out. By the end, it was a widely beloved corner of the Marvel Universe that was popular enough to be mostly transcribed whole by the movies.

Guardians of the Galaxy Reading Order
By Gavin Jasper
The nice thing about this era of the cosmic line is how neatly the main books move from event to event. Annihilation tells the story of a cataclysm that befalls the universe, and how the remaining heroes – Nova, Star Lord, Silver Surfer, Drax, Gamora, Ronan the Accuser, and Super-Skrull, among others – fight a war to survive. Rich Rider gets his own solo Nova comic from there, and it leads right into Annihilation: Conquest, about the catastrophe that follows in Annihilation’s wake. It also sees the formation of the Guardians of the Galaxy as we know them and launches their book, before tying both comics together in War of Kings where the Shi’ar and Kree empires collide. Realm of Kings is the aftermath of that war (and has one of my favorite Shi’ar Imperial Guard stories of all time), and that leads directly into the conflict that mostly closes out the era, The Thanos Imperative. This is a great introduction and immersion in Marvel’s cosmic universe, and will have you hooked by the halfway point of the first crossover.
Black Panther
Black Panther (1998) #1-22, Deadpool (1997) #44, Black Panther #23-62
There are certainly better parts to this run, but there is a scene where Namor, T’Challa, Doctor Doom, and Magneto stand around an apartment outside of the United Nations shouting at each other about diplomacy, and to this day I still have not found a comic book more specifically designed for my interests than this one.

Best Black Panther Comics: An Essential Reading Guide
By Jim Dandy
Priest is one of the sharpest minds ever to write comics. He’s so good at misdirection and storytelling – he will overwhelm you with style and flash, and you won’t even notice the subtle clues he’s dropping, or the way themes and characters weave together to show key parts of the story. This run on Black Panther is probably the definitive one for the character, and contributed a ton to the movie version, but there’s so much more depth (and humor!) that Priest puts into the Marvel Universe that it’s very worth reading.
Incredible Hercules
Hulk (1999) #106-112, Incredible Hercules (2008) #113-115, Hulk Vs. Hercules: When Titans Collide, Incredible Hercules #116-137, Assault on New Olympus Prologue, Incredible Hercules #138-141, Hercules: Fall of an Avenger #1-2, Heroic Age: Prince of Power #1-4, Chaos War #1-5
Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente are two of the best people writing comics right now. Each individually writes really good comics, but the two of them working together almost always put something special out. Incredible Hercules spun out of World War Hulk and came out better than it had any business being.

Who is She-Hulk? A Guide to Marvel’s Next TV Star
By Gavin Jasper
Hercules exists in a unique place. Pak and Van Lente used him as a gateway to the mythology of the Marvel Universe – the Greek pantheon, but also the Norse pantheon, Japanese gods, Inuit gods, even Skrull deities. And several of these aren’t exclusive to Marvel, so you get a very clear and obvious statement about some of the differences between the Big 2 universes, some clever in-jokes, and the requisite moving story about godhood. This all comes with wonderful characterization, clever plotting and a great sense of humor.
Nextwave: Agents of H.a.T.E.
Read Nextwave after you’ve read everything else, not because it’s a good capstone to your Marvel experience, but because it’s aggressively anti-continuity, and (lovingly) EXTREMELY disrespectful of the rest of the Marvel Universe. It’s also one of the funniest comics Marvel’s ever put out.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530" }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
This whole story is Warren Ellis brutalizing superheroes. Boom Boom from X-Force, Monica Rambeau (sometimes Captain Marvel, sometimes Photon), Machine Man, monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone, and Captain &#($$&*#!@ (or The Captain) are brought together by the Highest Anti-Terrorism Effort (H.A.T.E.) to fight Unusual Weapons of Mass Destruction. It’s aggressive nonsense, less anti-continuity than acontinuitous which isn’t a word but also fits the spirit of the book – characters make no sense even from issue to issue, and only serve the plot, but that nonsense later serves the plot. And it is an absolute tour de force from Stuart Immonen, who draws every type of comedy you can imagine – slapstick, absurdity, somehow sarcasm, puns – with incredible layouts and storytelling. This is not a good Marvel comic, but it is an incredible comic book that you’re going to love.

Lap Dance (Lee Minho)
Tumblr media
Minho Stripper! Au
Words: 1628
People: Minho x (fem) reader
WARNING: kinda smutty? Like no sex or foreplay or anything, just a lot of touching and grinding.
A/N: Hello and welcome to my tumblr! My name is venus and this is my first pic I’ll be posting on here. I already have stuff lined up to post, however, I am also open to requests as well, I really encourage them! So yeah that’s all from me, I hope you enjoy!
Let me know if I should do a part two for this!
It was a typical Saturday night. You waiting backstage, doing your makeup, waiting for your set. Even though your job was out of the ordinary, and some people in your life were not supportive of it, nothing could stop you when you were up on that stage. Twirling, spinning, grinding, you name it, on that pole. Being a stripper was your passion. Fuck what other people thought.
You were the last performer of the night. Of course, you had to do private sessions with old, sleazy men and women, however, you complained nevertheless.
“Y/n, you’re up,’ the manager called. You nodded, completing the last finishing touches on yourself, before looking in the mirror one more time, getting up, and proceeding to the curtain backstage, waiting to be called for your time to shine.
“ANDDD NOW, THE MOMENT YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! SHE’S THE BRILLIANT, SEXY, GORGEOUS, MESMERISING WOMAN ON THE NIGHT! Y/N STRIPPER NAME!”
Loud roars, cheers and whistles came about in the room once your ‘name’ was called. You began, slow struts down the runway, a combination of $1, $5 and $10 bills being thrown at you. Ignoring them, you bent down, leaving your whole backside exposed to the right side of the room.
“OOO DAMN BABY, YOU HAVE TO SIT ON MY FACE LATER!” some crust man yelled out, however, like usual, your disregarded them. Little did they know, this was your strategy to scan the room, check who was here. On the very rare occasion, there was a couple of hot guys that walked in here and there, but you were so surprised to see probably one of the most beautiful men that had ever stepped foot into here. He was leaning against the bar, cooly sipping his alcoholic beverage, when you made eye contact. His eyes were so dark, they almost took you off guard for a second, forgetting your surroundings and your performance. He quickly whispered something to his friend, pouting to you as he spoke.
‘Let’s have some real fun,’ you thought to yourself. You smirked at him, before standing back up, body rolling and flipping your long hair. You proceeded to the pole, refusing to break eye contact with this mysterious, but extremely sexy man. You sent him a week, before doing a 360 spin on the pole, legs wide open and in the air. Usually, a lot of jaw would drop to floor, amazed by your capabilities, and they did, but it wasn’t the one jaw you wanted. Instead, the man nodded, lefties his glass up to you and had a drink, looking only slightly impressed by your skill.
Determined to wow this man over, you brought out your most top notch and advanced skills you could do. Flips, tumbles, even stepping away from the poll and moving and just dancing freely. Thrusting your pelvis hard, flipping your hair over and over again, doing set choreography. The money bills, cheers and overall support was consistent, everybody was really enjoying your performance, except for him. He just had that sly smirk on his face for the whole time. It was about to drive you insane.
Losing track of time trying to win this hard to impress man, the music stopped, and your age was over. You smiled, bowed down in appreciation, before sending one more wink his way. Strutting of the stage, nothing but frustration filled you when you sat down. Was it him? Was it you? was the performance sloppy? You simply could not put your finger on it.
“Damn Y/n, that was literally one of your best performances. I’ve never seen so much money thrown on the stage for a solo performer. Not in the mood to talk, you smiled, gave a quick thank you, and checked your phone, waiting for the manager to let you know if you were asked for any private sessions tonight.
“Y/n, surprisingly after that performance, you only have one man that wants a private session tonight, then you are free to go home. Be ready in 10 mins.” You nod at him as he walks back outside. A sigh fo frustration, you text your boyfriend, telling him that you will be home a bit later than usual. You give your a hair a quick brush, touch up your makeup and move to the private room, waiting for your usual sleaze bag appointment. You walk in, scan the room, your hopes slightly up with the chance of seeing the suave man from earlier. But your hopes are crushed when there is no sight of him. Your manager comes into the roo, tells you what area you will be working in, but you look over to see no one, therefore, leaving you to sit and wait.
“Hey sweet cheeks,” a low, raspy and husky voice fills your ears. You look up, eye slightly widening when you realised who it was. It was him. The mysterious, hard to impress, suave man. He was good looking from a distance, but holy shit was he even more attractive up closed personal. You felt a little uneasy, knowing that never had of your clients had such an effect on you. However, you had to keep your character, not wanting to show the man how much of an effect he really had on you.
“Well, well, well,” you got up, grabbing his tie all the way up to the base, almost choking him lightly, “what’s your name sweetheart?” you ask, swirling your tongue around the front of top teeth.
“The names Minho, Lee Minho, but that doesn’t mean much to you, does it?”
The hint of arrogance in his voice slightly annoyed you, but also intrigued your curiosity about him. Who was he really?
Acting like you did not like his attitude, you swayed his tie, forcing him to roughly sit down on the couch behind both of you.
“Oh we have cocky one do we?” You ask, jumping onto his lap, his legs in-between yours. You begin a light straddle, a little bit of pleasure running through you every time your core slightly brushed over his own. You could feel him shover a little at your touch, a smirk appearing on your face, knowing you had such an immediate effect on him.
“Cocky enough to know that you couldn’t keep your eyes off of me the whole stage.” He looks up at you, bringing his lip between his teeth, lazily placing his hands on your hips to guide you over him. Annoyed that he was onto you, you turn around, your back facing him. Frustrated, you grabbed his inner thighs, grinding at the same speed, but with more force moving down on him. Even though you couldn’t see his face, you knew he was enjoying it, especially from the sibling moans that were leaving his mouth every few seconds.
Arching your back, you kept your pace, snaking an arm around the back of his neck, leaning most of your body weight abasing him. You cock your head to the side, moving towards his ear.
“Did you enjoy it?”
A seductive whisper escapes your mouth. Minho chuckles deeply, a deep huskiness filling your ears.
“So it was for me then?”
He gives your hips a quick squeeze, then moves his hands down to the sides your rear.
“May I?”
There was usually a rule: dancers can touch guests, but guests don’t touch the dancers. However, you wanted nothing more than him to grab your ass, smack it, pull your hair, get his finger inside of you. You had no idea why, but there was something about Minho that drove you wild. You wanted, no, you needed him.
You nod,  making sure the manager doesn’t see. You feel his calloused, deeply textured hands up against your skin. The tips of his rough fingers move up and down you, almost cooling down from the rising heat and sexual tension between you two. Sure, every time you did this, there was sexual tension, its inevitable. However, you never felt it. They were usually not exciting or sexual for you at all. It was different this time though. The more he touched you, the more you wanted to give into those desires.
“OOO, damn, you really know how to move.” Minho whines, followed by a string of curse words. Feeling risky, you move your hand down towards his throbbing cock. You moved your hand around his clothed member, light circling your thumb around his tip.
“Wow, you’re so hard for me, baby,” you accidentally moan, “am I making you fell good?”
You turn around, putting your arms around his neck, leaning your head back, giving him as much possible access to your chest as possible.
“I’m impressed. Fuck, you feel so good against me.” A deep groan is released from his mouth.
Without asking this time, his hands move towards your breasts. He cupped them for a moment, before seeing your hardened nipples through your limited clothing. You roll your head back when he pinches one. Your sensitivity at an all time high.
“What’s your name?” He mutters out, barely being able to speak from the immense pleasure that was building up in him from your touch. Disappointment fills you when you realise that your time is up. You stopped moving against him. Instead leaving like usual, your sat there, moving one hands up under his shirt. Your mouth almost watered when you felt his well-well-defined stomach muscles.
“That’s for me to know, you to find out.” You whisper in his ear, pressing a small kiss to his lobe before getting up and walking back to the dressing room.
Lee Minho. Who was he? You had no idea, but you sure as hell wished that you would be seeing him again, and fast.

Control review
I have been looking forward to Control for a while now, it was a very mysterious game before the non-existent marketing campaign. So going in blind was a great experience that is pretty rare these days in gaming. I’m gonna break Control down into its essential parts and talk about my view of them. Spoilers lie ahead.
The Good
The voice acting is pretty well done across the cast, the main character Jesse is especially well-acted (though not well written, more on that later). The setting of the Oldest House drips with atmosphere and a sense of eerie familiarity that comes with being in an office building. Only this office, though appearing to be a skyscraper in Manhattan, has layers and moving hallways as well as much more lurking in its depths. The Metroidvania style of learning abilities to access new areas really does a great job of shining in this context.
Some of these side-missions are some of the best I’ve played this year. I thought the fridge was just a “Weeping Angel” kind of thing where you died if you didn’t look at it (there’s a cool touch in that room that I like). Upon taking the side mission though it’s short and simple it did a great job of subverting my expectation and throwing an unexpected boss fight at you. The Mold Monster, The Anchor, all interesting side quests that do a great job of supplementing the experience.
When things do smooth out, combat is hot shit like it’s Chronicle the game. The debris and destruction effects are everything you’ve heard and really give that feel of next-gen that some games really could use. Ever play Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy (2004)? It’s that turned up to fucking twenty.
The lore is some of the best I’ve come across, I actually sat down and read as much as I possibly could. Yes, some people don’t like how it can break up gameplay but I saw it as a chance to dive deeper and actually understand what little I can before continuing. The redacted information is a great touch and I do get the sense that the reader is meant to fill in the blanks. That said, it can be a real middle finger at times when all you want is answers.
The mod system on the surface is a good idea, I have to give them points for at least trying. Some mods are so good you get them and it is instantly slotted. One that drops from a secret objective grants you 100% ammo reduction on hit. Excuse me while I boot up the game to go get that real quick yeahthanks.
Little cute cosmetic things like outfits come from...wait for it...playing the game!! WAAAAT
The Bad
The mod system, though having its gems, is mostly dirty lumps of Black Rock. So many, and I mean so many mods are going to be deleted for scrap to help upgrade your gun or the mods you can get a chance to randomly drop.
What the hell is The City, it’s capitalized in the subtitles and many lore entries and there was not so much as a reference or explanation or anything. In addition, a lot of the redacted documents still draw me in but it is frustrating when so much is left out in a world that already begs so many questions. Would it have killed the writers for a little clarity?
As satisfying as the side missions can be, there are a number of them that boil down to straight-up bitch missions. Kill x amount of enemies here, destroy x things there, all this in a game where I can fly and shoot a sentient gun and throw shit with my mind. Ya couldn’t come up with anything else?
The Metroidvania element is a great idea, but it isn’t implemented quite as well as I would’ve liked. It’s just a little grating when more often than not it’s not a lack of an ability but the number on your access card not being high enough. Lame.
The ending is a little insulting, the fake-out got me so mad I actually said out loud “Oh well at least the real ending won’t upset me like that.” Wrong, wow holy fuck was I wrong. The final fight is another gauntlet, shocker, and it’s not even really all that difficult because The Board supposedly...buffs your strength? That is never really explained either. Cool. You beat the same enemies you’ve been kicking around for hours now only to find Dylan suspended in air, you purify him or whatever. Roll credits. Go fuck yourself. Regardless of whether or not DLC is coming and there is, that ending is pathetic on so many levels after a game I spent around 15 hours being pretty impressed by.
The Ugly
What’s ugly about Control nears unforgivable. I mean it, if you’re sensitive to performance issues to the point where things can chug to a near halt: then just wait and keep your ear to the ground for patch notes and updates for when things get fixed. For the record, I distinctly remember playing New Vegas on my 360 and the absolute shit show that was. So I do believe that experience gave me the strength to persevere through it. Beefy PCs will be fine as well as Xbox One X, but base systems and even in some cases with the PS4 Pro really need some attention when it comes to hotfixes**. Combat will kick off and get heated, only for frames to drop as low as the tens and single digits according to Digital Foundry. On top of it all, it would be one thing if it was momentary and fleeting but essentially from the first moment of gameplay; it’s guaranteed to get worse as your powers grow and destruction becomes more and more prevalent.
No new game plus, and level selecting after completion overwrites your save file and did I mention there’s only one save file? Remedy... you know its 2019 right? I feel like that was a no brainer.
As fun as the combat loop is, how did we not get the full selection of gun forms or at least more than two? Too often am I pausing to switch out a form when I should be able to hold three forms to at least mitigate how many times I’m going into the menu. On top of that, combat scenarios are just gauntlets and there aren’t much varying in situations outside of taking advantage of the different architecture The Oldest House has. It’s just wave after wave with nothing really different between them.
In summation...
Control is fun, intriguing and (most of the time) absolutely gorgeous. It’s very clear that Control is the culmination of both Alan Wake and Quantum Break. To me, it is the best parts of both with Alan Wake’s aesthetic and tone with the high octane Quantum Break action. If that sounds like your kind of thing, I say its worth it, maybe wait until a sale comes around or when they do whatever they need to ease the performance issues. This is a single-player game that offers an interesting experience that may not be backed up by story but is held up by lore and environments that really shine in modern gaming. Yes, it's SCP the game but in a lot of ways, it isn’t.
I give Control a 7.5/10 with performance issues on launch being one of the biggest detractors. I’d rate it a little higher now that a lot of the issues have been patched but I believe games need to be reviewed on the state they shipped in.
**On September 4th it was reported that the team is focussed on performance issues for consoles in addition to the two expansions titles “Foundation” and “AWE” as well as non-narrative content.

Jump Force, a review
(Disclaimer: The following is a non-profit unprofessional blog post written by an unprofessional blog poster. All purported facts and statement are little more than the subjective, biased opinion of said blog poster. In other words, don’t take anything I say too seriously.) Just the facts 'Cause you're in a Hurry! Publisher: Bandai Namco Developer: Spike Chunsoft Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP): 59.99 USD How much I paid: 99.99 USD for the Ultimate Edition. Bundle Includes: 3 Days Early access. Lobby Vehicles to ‘ride around in’ that’s purely cosmetic. Season Pass that unlocks 9 DLC characters to be announced and released at a later date. Rated: T for Mild Blood, Suggestive Themes and Violence Number of Playable Characters: 43. 4 Original characters. 39 Characters from Established franchises. Number of Stages: 7. Each Stage has a transition that changes when a character hits an opponent with a specific attack. Can I play offline: Yes. Controller Support: Yes. It was compatible with my Rock-Candy Xbox 360 controller.  Keyboard and Mouse controls are available but are very awkward and the game was clearly designed with a controller in mind.   How long I played: 18 Hours. 10 Hours to beat the story mode while watching the Cutscenes. UNSKIPPABLE cutscenes. 7 Hours just messing around and playing online matches. Microtransactions: 39.99 Season Pass that unlocks 9 DLC characters to be announced at a later date. Dual Audio: No. Only Japanese Audio with Subs available. What I played on: My PC. Performance Issues: For the most part, I got ‘mostly’ 60 FPS when I was playing online or running around. However, the FPS dips when there’s a cutscene playing to the mid 40’s even the high 30’s. Too bad however beautiful the particle effects are can’t adjust the wooden facial animations and stiff body movements. 3 Crashes within my playtime. My Personal Biases: I’ve followed the saga of Son Goku and friends. I’ve watched Naruto Uzumaki become the Hokage. I’ve watched Yusuke Urameshi journey from boy to man. I’ve watched Gon, Killua and Kullapika go on their various hunting expeditions. I’ve watched Yugi Moto become the king of games. And I’ve watched Light Yagami become defeated by his own hubris. In other words, I’ve been waiting for this game a ‘very’ long time, and have played previous games such as JStars Victory Vs. My Verdict: As much fun as it is seeing characters like Fist of the North Star’s Kenshiro beat the pulp out of My Hero Academia’s Deku, the limited roster, worn out gameplay from the Naruto Shippuden and Dragonball Xenoverse games, the laughable animation, idiotic story mode and the ever anti-consumer practices of Bandai Namco are bogging this game down. If you’re a fan of Shounen Jump, you’ll sure to have fun. But, if you’re patient or you want more characters consider picking up Jump Ultimate Stars or JStars Victory Vs and wait for a sale. Jump Force, a review
Tumblr media
In celebration for 50 years, Weekly Shounen Jump has announced a new crossover game. Made with collaboration between Publisher Bandai Namco and Developer Spike Chunsoft, “Jump Force” arrives to bring together various characters found in Shueisha’s long running publication.
Can the game live up to the vast legacy it has inherited? Let’s find out in this review of “Jump Force”!
The Umbra cubes, cosmic cubes capable of granting those great power, have spread throughout the world. Thanks to the villain, Kane, and his lovely assistant, Galena, he has recruited the villains from Shounen Jump and replicated them. All the meanwhile, normal citizens have become “Venoms”, possessed by evil impulses. But just as Frieza fires a laser beam, ending your life, Trunks comes in, uses and Umbra cube and grants you great power to help combat evil.
Jump Force is an Arena fighting game similar to games such as Dragonball Xenoverse or Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm. Players pick between 3 characters and attempt to lower their opponent’s (shared) healthbar to zero. In addition to physical attacks, they can spend the abilities gauge to use a variety of ranged or close up attacks. In addition, whenever players take damage, they fill up the ‘awakening’ bar. Using half an awakening bar will allow players to unleash an ultimate attack, an ability that deals more damage than regular abilities. Using a full awakening bar will ‘transform’ the character to a powered-up state. For example, Goku will transform from his base form to his Super Saiyan form.
The other two characters can be called upon using the left trigger. Simply pressing the trigger will swap the character while holding it down will call them for an assist attack. Unfortunately, you cannot change the order of which characters you switch to and must cycle through said order to access the characters. (For example having a team order of Goku, Vegeta and Piccolo means that Goku cannot switch to Piccolo without switching through Vegeta first). Be careful because if you switch while both characters are on screen and the opponent is able to hit both, you’ll receive double the damage.
Customizing your character is nothing new for Bandai Namco games such as the various DBZ Xenoverse games and Naruto: Shinobi Striker, but the mechanic remains impressive here. Allowing you a vast customization between characters allows different playstyles and gives your individual avatar the ability to learn various techniques such as Vegeta’s Galick Gun or Yusuke’s Spirit Gun. However, certain techniques, such as anything related to Jotaro or Yugi are unable to be learned by your Avatar character.
Similarly, the defense system returns. Using the mobility meter, characters can dash towards or away from the opponent or teleport out of a combo behind the enemy. Most of the time, using the guard button will block most attacks. But, characters can either grab the blocking opponent or hold down either the smash or heavy smash button to break through the opponent’s guard.
While most of the characters play similar to one another, some of the characters have slight variations. For example, similar to his manga counterpart, Sanji will be unable to deal damage to female characters. Similarly, when Gon connets with an opponent with his Ultimate attack, he will become unplayable for the duration of the match.
Learning said techniques can be used by spending the in-game currency which allows you to easily unlock abilities, skills that aid in battle such as boosting attack power or various costumes for your avatar. In-game currency can be earned by either playing through the story or playing online.
The Story will not win any awards unless the Razzies suddenly announce a video game category. It’s a pastiche of clichés, tired tropes and nonsense as players slog through another world ending plot with stupid villains, stupid twists and characters acting like morons. For some reason, Light Yagami figures out the twist that even the dumbest of us can figure out 5 seconds in. Not helping matters are the rest of the characters acting like complete idiots with Sanji being the focus for some reason.
Say what you will about the current state of fanfiction, bad fanfiction is at least INTERESTING.
This combines the worst of Mary Sue fanfiction with the most boring and bland cliches possible. I understand orienting the game for Western audiences meant having to borrow notes from the Avengers and Justice League, but the characters expositing non-stop about the predictable plotline isn’t helpful. Worst yet, Developer Spike Chunsoft has forgotten a vital component for any story cutscene, the ability to skip them. So, be prepared to watch as characters drone on and on during the cutscenes figuring out the plot.
Just the same, the artstyle is going to alienate some longtime fans. While using the Unreal engine to render things such as particle effects, fire and energy beams is a delight to behold, said delight is replaced by revulsion watching the stiff character faces barely emote when watching a cutscene. These animations make Mass Effect: Andromeda look like the Witcher 3.
Tumblr media
Half the time, the characters don’t even talk. RYUK DOESN’T EVEN HAVE A VOICE! What’s odd is that in the non-essential cutscenes, when the characters barely move and don’t have voices, the writing actually improves. Seeing various characters from different franchises interact with each other, brings a small delight to a mess of a game. Watching Zoro tutor Asta while Kenshin watches on or seeing Deku be a student to Kakashi’s lectures is the stuff of fan dreams. It’s too bad these moments are few and fleeting. And while 42 Characters in a base game is nothing to sneeze at, fans of Shounen Jump crossover games have already called out Developer Spike Chunsoft. While more famous franchises such as Dragonball Z, Naruto and One Piece boast a whopping 6 representatives each, more obscure franchises are either not represented or have a meager 1 character, such as City Hunter’s Ryo Saeba or Fist of the North Star’s Kenshiro. Meanwhile, mainstays from previous Jump crossover games such as Dr. Slump’s Arale, Kochikame’s Ryotsu, Bobobo’s Bobobo, D Grayman’s Allen Walker, Reborn’s Tsuna Sawada and Gintama’s Gintoki are all missing (though there is speculation they would be added later as Downloadable Content locked away with a paywall). And yet… God, it’s just such a fangasm seeing characters from different franchises duke it out with one another. Seeing Jotaro fight with Deku. Seeing Asta cross blades with Dai. Seeing Goku trade blows with Kenshiro is just one of my biggest dreams. There’s a germ of an idea here but it’s botched by piss-poor execution. I’m just so sick of games I would’ve loved missing the mark and not reaching their full potential. Caveat: Shounen Jump, Shueisha and Bandai Namco have a rare opportunity on their hands. Having the ability to have a character as old as Seiya have a fist fight with a modern character like Deku is one of the rare privileges a company can have alongside with Marvel, DC Comics and Nintendo. So, it’s unfortunate when Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft drop the ball and start limiting the roster, overpopulating it with familiar franchises instead of obscure ones and start nickeling and diming its customers with stupid DLC policies. Say what you will about the (very) imperfect JStars Victory Vs (which was also developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco), the one thing that game did right was introduce a plebian like me to series such as Medaka Box, Assassination Classroom, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, Toriko and Beelzebub. And while I did enjoy the extensive customization and gained a sick sense of pleasure whenever I finish off an opponent with DIO’s Road Roller, part of me couldn’t help but wonder when Kinnikuman is going to get the recognition he deserves. Maybe when Shounen Jump has its 55th anniversary, they can give its vast legacy of characters a game worthy of 50 years. We’ll always have Jump Ultimate Stars on the DS. Verdict: Rental or Wait for a Sale

Six Miles High
 Jason Todd x Fem!Reader (smut)
I recommend you guys listen to song “Wrong” by MAX. I associate that song with Jason so much ever since I discovered it and it was the inspiration to…this fic. Comments highly appreciated!

Word Count: 2.7k
Once or twice, three times tops, Jason receives a text with a location each month. It’s always the same number that reaches out to him. Each time, he forwards the number to Roy so that they meet at the location.
The sound of a speeding motorcycle echoed down the highways of Gotham. A grin grew behind the visor as he saw a tunnel. His hands grips the handles, accelerating. If he didn’t have plans, he would’ve ridden without his helmet. He loved the feeling of the wind dancing through his hair, his hair locks joining as they curled and uncurled to follow the wind’s rhythm.
He’d see Roy waiting by the doors, a stupid grin would be on his face as Jason pulled into a spot in front of the club. He kicks the stand to lean the bike, leaning against it as he pulls off the helmet. Music booms from the club onto the streets, into the streets.
Jason runs his hand through his helmet hair, making it look wilder than usual. The white fluff in the front perfectly blended with the black. He puts the helmet in its spot, pushing himself carefully off the bike and unzips his black leather jacket. He reveals a tight white V-neck and gives Roy a cocky smile.
“You know, I don’t why you bring me with you every time, when you already have a girl for the night,” Roy laughs out, holding his fist out for Jason to bump back. Jason laughed with him, bumping his fist and nodding his head towards the door.
This wasn’t the first time he and Roy had come to this particular club. It was actually one of Jason’s favorite. Roy and Jason flash the bouncer a grin as they walked past the line, the complaints of the unfortunate crows stuck in the line fills their ears, but could not overcome the sound of the house music.
Making their way to the bar, Jason would point out girls he found to be Roy’s type. Roy would either say that he didn’t take girls who were too drunk (it’s not sex if there is no consent), keeping an eye on them just in case someone did try to take advantage; or that they didn’t really captured his attention. It was routine.
It was their way of…capitulating to the night, the social life outside of the Outlaws and their usual…work nights.
Roy never really looked for anyone, he just went for the hell of it. Moral support one could call it. Sure, he could try and get a girl for the night, but for the past…what was it now? Four months? Five months? However long it had been since Jason’s little game,  he found amusement in watching Jason go find the girl that had captured his attention.
As they near the bar, Jason’s eyes search the entire length of bar until they fell unto a familiar pair of legs. Roy laughs, leaning into Jason so that he could hear him over the music. “Go get ‘em!” he screams, going to the other end of the bar to grab himself a beer.
Jason makes his way to body that belonged to legs. Those legs, god those legs. His eyes traveled up the legs to take in the rump of the body. He sucked in his breath when he realized how short the dress was.
His face heats up when his body made its way to the figure, her body leaned against the tabletop; her left arm was folded in front of her, that way her left hand could rest on her right elbow, her hand swirling the glass of whiskey. Her head turned to the right, giving Jason a sideview of her face as she held the glass to her lips.
Hands hold themselves beside your figure, gripping the edge of the table so that his thumbs rested on the bottom and his fingers on top. You smiled, gulping down the rest of the drink.
“Just when I was beginning to assume you wouldn’t show,” you yell into his ear as his body pressed into yours from behind, his head next to yours. It didn’t hurt him. Not with all the music vibrating all around them, filling all the space that physical objects and bodies weren’t taking up.
“You think I’d bail?” he says loud enough for you to hear as his nose brushes against your ear, down to your jaw.
“No, but I was starting to get impatient,” you laugh, your face heating up as his lips trail up and down your neck. They were always hot and sloppy. He wasn’t even drunk. He never drank until he got home with you. In his opinion, just being around you made him drunk.
“Funny,” he says, kissing back up your neck and gently taking your earlobe in his teeth, tugging. You press your body into him, feeling the start of his erection against the back of your thigh.
“Tease,” you groan out, pushing yourself further against him, enough for his hands to break connect with the table. You slip out of his grasp, laughing as you make your way to the dance floor. Jason quickly follows, trying his best not to lose you in the string of people who were bumping, grinding, making out against him and each other.
He loses you for a few seconds, turning in 360 angles multiple times before he spots you, dancing against a couple of people. Your eyes connect with his, a beautiful yet devious smile makes its way onto your face as you let your hands roam over your body. He wanted you right then and there.
In a few strides, he’s in front of you. You press yourself close to him seductively. God, he didn’t know how much longer until he dragged you into a corner. His body sways with yours, his hands roaming over every inch of your body. You flip your body around so that your back is pressed into him, your hands guiding him to all the right places that needed to be explored. You let him know what you want; your hand on top of his as they make their way over your breasts. His head is close to yours, your head tilted upwards as you let your heavy breaths make their way to his ears.
It goes on like this. The two of you intimately dancing against each other; kisses making their way down your neck, your hands helping Jason’s roam to the parts of your body that needed him.
Every other song you’d switch so that you were dancing away from him, or against him, only then it would be your hands roaming his body while his hands stayed on your hips. Your hands would dip into the hem of his shirt, lingering over his abs or the tips of your fingers dipping into the waist of jeans before he grabs your wrists and you laugh, throwing your head back.
The last time you turn around so that your back is pressed against him, he moves his thigh between your legs to spread them a little. You let out gasp, looking around. It was then you pull Jason by the arm towards the spot between the bar and the bathroom. Jason presses you against the wall, a silent moan escapes your lips as your back presses a little harshly against the vibrating paneling of the club’s interior.
One of his calloused hands makes its way to your thigh, sliding it to the back on your knee as he hikes it up to his hip, the hem of your dress riding up. Right hand snakes to his neck, pulling him in for a kiss as your left hand grabs the material of his shirt towards the bottom, pressing your bodies together so close, as they practically become one.
His lips hungrily take yours, Jason fighting back the urge to let his tongue lace over your bottom lip. He pulls away, knowing he would lose control soon. “Let’s go,” he growls seductively in your ear, pulling you away before words or noise could escape your mouth.
He hands you a helmet once you reach his motorcycle.
“Just because I love helmet hair on you, does not mean I like it on myself,” you purr, pulling the helmet on while keeping the visor up. Something about seeing that man with tangled and messy hair just riled something up in you. He chuckles lowly, pulling his respective helmet and getting on the bike.
“Let’s go. I’ve got a bottle of whiskey and a kitty waiting for me,” he says over the starting engine of the bike. A familiar warmth between your times welcomes his comment and you hop on, wrapping your arms around his torso; a soft squeeze gives him the okay.
As he pushes his speed, going around ninety-miles-per-hour, you loosen the grip just by a millimeter. The sirens of the GCPD sound off and laughter fills the arm as you both zoom towards the Jason’s apartment. They never caught you two. It gave you a high, made every night that you two spent together so much more thrilling and electrifying.
Your hands begin to roam over his torso, hands dipping into the front his jean’s waist.
“Y/n,” he warns, going a little faster, turning towards his street. He tries his best not to let your dirty flirting get to him.
The moment the motorcycle slides into its usual space, Jason pulls off his helmet then yours, picking you up. Your legs automatically wrapping around his waist, the hem of your dress rides up to the point it’s basically a belt around your hips. Jason’s hands are on your ass, holding you close to him as he makes his way up the couple of floors. You continue whispering in his ear, explaining in detail what you wanted from him. The heat from in-between your thighs grows, you could nearly smell your want for him.
One of Jason’s hands roam a little higher, trying to reach for your panties…you didn’t have any on and Jason gasps. He stops on the last step to his door; a sexy, devious look on his face.
“You dirty, dirty girl,” he growls, pushing his unlocked door open. Nobody was stupid enough to break into Jason Todd’s apartment.
“What are you going to do?” you moan out as he attacks your neck, pressing you against the wall. The same hand that discovered that you wore no panties was the same hand that smacks your ass. You let out a gasp, your head hitting the wall as you tilt it back, giving Jason more access.
“I’m going to show you how much I love playing with dirty girls,” he whispers in your ear, his teeth tugging on your earlobe once more. You groan out, grinding against him. Your heat was getting unbearable. Jason knew, too. “Aw, what’s wrong? Does your pussy want my attention?” he whispers along your jawline, one his hand reaches for the zipper of your dress. He rips it off.
“Fuck,” you gasp out, trying your best to get friction between your heat and him. He moves you from the wall, to his bedroom. Dumping you on the bed, he drops his leather jacket onto the floor and his shirt follows. He drops to his knees, spreading your legs for himself. God, he could smell the want. It got him hard whenever you were wet and wet only for him.
“Jason!” you cry out as his thumb runs up and down your slit. His thumb strokes you a few more times before he dips a finger in. Your body withers, trying to grind against his finger. He pulls his finger out, and his face slowly reaches in. “Jason, please!” He gingerly blows air onto your clit, your hands flying to the sheets and your back arches.
His mouth finally makes its way to your cunt, his tongue dividing your folds. You cry out, his tongue moves in little figures over your clit. At that moment, the only thing you knew how to say was “please;” you spoke it fast and in gasps. His tongue reaches your entrance slowly. He knew to watch for your body’s reactions. If your body wither, he’d go faster. If there was no progress, he began to experiment. Tonight, it was wither then go faster night.
“Jason! Please, please, please! Make me cum!” you scream, his tongue lapping you like his last fucking meal, his fingers joining in. Two fingers this time. The coil in your stomach tightened, your legs begin to tremble, pressing against Jason’s head. Your hands fly to his hair, pulling him up. His tongue retreated, but his mouth devoured your clit; he added a third finger. Your back was practically off the bed and you screamed out your praises to Jason, blinded by white spots  as he lapped up your release.
Jason kissed his way up to your breasts, taking one nipple into his mouth. He swirls his tongue around it, sucking softly before carefully taking it between his teeth and tugging enough to stimulate something for you. He did the same for the other one, before finally capturing your lips.
“On your knees,” he growls, pullings away from your lips and pushing himself off, standing up straight up. You raise an eyebrow, eyes trailing down his body as his hands unbutton his jeans. A content hum vibrates throughout your body and into the air.
“Yes, daddy,” you lick your lips at him. His eyes darken as his pants drop.
“Hands and knees, now.” You turn yourself over, climbing onto your knees. You lean forward so your cheek presses to the mattress and your ass sticks up. A gasp forces it way out of your mouth as Jason’s thumb makes it way to your cunt, stroking between your folds again. You could feel the moisture building up again. “Stroke yourself, babygirl,” he demands.
The moment his thumb leaves you, your fingers replace it. You stroke yourself, moaning into the mattress. You quickly peek over your shoulder and see Jason stroke himself. You almost moan at the sight. Jason masturbating while watching you play with yourself.
“Jason, I’m not gonna last,” you moan loudly into the mattress, trembles shook your entire body.
“Keep going,” he demands. “But when you come, stop touching yourself.” The only sound was of your fingers vigorously rubbing yourself. He slaps your ass. “Am I understood?” He knew damn well it was about to happen, too.
“Yes!” you cry out, quickly pulling your fingers away from yourself. You cry louder when you feel the tip of Jason’s cock tease itself against your fold; it replaced your fingers. You try to press yourself onto only to cry aloud again when the feel of Jason’s cock goes missing. “Jason, stop teasing me!” you shout.
You gasp when his length made its slow plunge into you. “You’re so tight,” he groans in a sultry tone into the air. His hands go on your hips as your bodies make contact; your backside to his hips. He gives you a minute to adjust. Your hand makes it way to your clit, rubbing as he begins his slow rhythm. He pulls out until it was just the head of his cock before plunging himself back in. As he sped, so did your fingers. He grabs your hair, pulling you back so that your face was no longer in the mattress.  Jason’s name becomes a prayer you cry out to the god he swore did not exist. That made his cock twitch, driving himself deeper into you.
He quickly picks you up, never breaking his contact with you and presses you to the wall breasts first. His hands spread your legs further apart and he finally hits that one angle he knows will get you to come undone. You scream his name, trying to grip the wall as you push back against his cock, meeting him every time he slammed himself into you. His hand replaced yours, rubbing fiercely against your clit. Your body gives a tremble, your legs ready to give in, but Jason keeps holding you up as he rides out your high, soon releasing after you. He groans, tilting his head back, giving one final, rough thrust into you.
“Fuck,” he cries out, pulling out of you. He holds your limp form against him as you try to catch your breath. He throws his comforter over, slipping the both you underneath, bringing the comforter back over you. You lay on his chest, listening to thumping heart as it slowed down.
You look up to him, pecking him on the lips.
“I love your text messages” he gives you a stupid smile. You smack his chest, kissing the same spot when he pouted. “That hurt.”
“I’ll make it up to you with breakfast,” you say with sultry smile. His eyes darkened again as he grins, capturing your lips.
“Oh, so we’re staying the night?” he chuckles.
“How can’t I, knowing that,” your hand trails down to his cock, feeling it twitch in your hand, “this awaits me in the morning.” He grins, pulling you in for a passionate kiss. What the hell would he do without those text messages?

Mass Effect 2 Game Narrative Review
I typed this review up for my Game Narrative class, sorry for the length, I went a bit overboard.
Game Narrative Review
=========================
Your name: Ryan Schnepfe
Month/Year you submitted this review: September 2018 =========================
Game Title: Mass Effect 2
Platform: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3
Genre: Science Fiction, Third Person RPG
Release Date: January 26th, 2010 (PC/Xbox 360), January 18th, 2011 (Playstation 3)
Developer: BioWare
 Publisher: Electronic Arts
Game Writer/Creative Director/Narrative Designer: Casey Hudson
Overview: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mass Effect 2 continues the tale of Commander Shepard, commander of the Normandy SR-1 and humanity’s first “Spectre”, as they investigate the disappearances of  human colonies around the Milky Way Galaxy. This puts them in direct opposition with the Collectors (a race of powerful, insect-like aliens from outside of mapped space), and directly aligns them with Cerberus (a “human interests first” extremist group). Informed by the shadowy Illusive Man that the Collector base resides past the Omega-4 Relay (giant super constructs that allow for near instant intergalactic travel), Shepard must gather a crew for a suicide mission to assault the Collectors and save humanity.
Characters: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mass Effect 2’s narrative focuses on building an “Ocean's Eleven” style crew to pull off a suicide mission. Because of this, players will encounter a huge cast of characters with varied backgrounds and skill sets that all fill various niches on the team (such as hackers, soldiers, and medics). With twelve fully fleshed out squad members (and even more supporting characters), there isn’t enough room to give them all the descriptions they deserve. Here are the characters players will spend the most time with:
● Commander Shepard -- The main playable character and player stand in, Shepard’s backstory is pieced together by the player during character creation. No matter the backstory, Shepard rose through the ranks of The Alliance, humanity’s spacefaring military branch. Their many honors and distinctions brought them to the attention of the council, where they were made the first human Spectre. This came at at time of great strife in the galaxy, as the rogue Spectre Saren Arterius allied with the robotic Geth and nearly unleashed an unfathomable cataclysm. Averting this through both combat prowess and an uncanny ability to reason with people, Shepard made themselves a target for powerful forces throughout the galaxy.
● The Illusive Man -- To say the Illusive Man is mysterious is to say water is wet. The Illusive Man leads Cerberus from an unknown location, only communicating to Shepard through encrypted messages and proxies. Painting himself as a benevolent backer of humanity, the Illusive Man bankrolls Shepard’s quest to rescue captured settlers, outfitting him with state of the art tech, including a brand new ship. A staunch human supremacist, he wouldn’t bat an eye if any other race was kidnapped by the Collectors, but messing with humanity is a surefire way to gain his ire.
● Harbinger -- The imposing commander of the Collectors, Harbinger is less of a being and more like a body hopping embodiment of rage. Throughout Shepherds crusade against the Collectors, Harbinger will possess his soldiers, empowering them and granting them access to unique abilities. Fond of phrases such as “this hurts you” and “the universe bends to my will”, Harbinger has known no word synonymous with defeat. Although it’s motives are unknown, whatever they are cannot be good for the wellbeing of humanity or the Milky Way at large.
● Jeff “Joker” Moreau -- Loyal, skilled, and a bit of a “smart ass”, Jeff Moreau is without a doubt one of the best pilots in the galaxy. Although he can’t fight on the field due to Vrolik Syndrome (a debilitating disease that causes extreme brittleness in his bones), Joker is always will to follow Shepard to the depths of hell and back, while supporting him using all the fire power the Normandy can muster.
● EDI -- Short for Enhanced Defense Intelligence, EDI is the Normandy’s resident virtual intelligence. Hyper intelligent and incredibly capable, EDI is an invaluable member of Shepard’s party. Originally created on the moon, EDI grew beyond what her creators intended and rebelled, causing the Alliance to send Shepard in to shut her down. During the few years between Mass Effect 1 and 2, Cerberus picked up her code and recreated her, believing she could turn the tide in their mission to put humanity at the top of the food chain.
Breakdown ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mass Effect 2’s narrative starts off strong, providing an excellent example of a “cold open” done right. While out on a mission, Shepard and the crew of the Normandy are attacked by an extremely powerful unknown vessel. Unable to fight back against the ship’s overwhelming strength, evacuation orders are given, with Shepard staying on board to ensure everyone gets out alive. Suddenly, after putting an injured Joker inside an escape pod, an explosion rips apart the ship and Shepard is sent out into space. Shepard dies a hero, their body pulled into a nearby planet’s orbit and burned up in its atmosphere.
Two years later, Shepard awakes inside a lab, resurrected by the members of the Lazarus Project. With Shepard awake, the Cerberus operatives financing the lab turn on the scientists, destroying them and their work. Escorting Shepard to a nearby Cerberus base, the Illusive Man strikes a deal and alerts the player to the kidnapping of human settlers all around the system. Here, Shepard informs the Illusive Man of his plan to go after the Collectors, with the Illusive Man in turn providing dossiers on potential allies around the system.
From here, the narrative then shifts into a two act structure with each act punctuated by a big set piece mission that advances the plot. Rather than a continuous flow of missions like the first game, the player is free to recruit teammates in any order they choose. During the first act, Shepard recruits Garrus Vakarian, Mordin Solus, Jack, and (optionally) Grunt. Once they’re recruited, Shepard is ordered by the Illusive man to go to Horizon, a potential target for the Collectors. Here Shepard witnesses their might again as they work to defend the colony, saving many survivors but allowing countless others to be captured.
Act two is more of the same, with Shepard then recruiting Tali’Zorah nar Rayya, Samara, and Thane Krios. At any time two other squadmates, Kasumi Goto and Zaeed Massani, can be recruited if the player has the proper downloadable content installed. Once every squadmate is recruited, the Illusive Man sends Shepard on two more mandatory missions. One takes place on a derelict Reaper vessel, where Shepard is sent to investigate what happened to a Cerberus research team that went silent. Here Shepard (and the player) are given a crash course in “reaper indoctrination”, where sentient beings can be overtaken through strong psychic forces. While it doesn’t play a large role in this game, it properly explains and sets up an element that is used extensively in Mass Effect’s 1 and 3. While on board, Shepard also encounters the last possible squadmate, Legion, a friendly Geth unit.
The second priority mission is set aboard the same Collector ship that destroyed the Normandy in the opening. This mission is masterful in its execution of suspense, as the entire first half of the mission is spent exploring the empty, cavernous vessel as Shepard and their teammates wonder where all the Collectors are. As soon as they reach their objective, Collector relay tags that will help their ship bypass defenses during the suicide mission, the trap is sprung. The ship comes alive as Collector soldiers pour in, forcing Shepard to fight their way back through the ship and to safety.
Once these missions are completed, an unexpected mission occurs. While Commander Shepard and the squad are out on duty, the Normandy is attacked again as the Collectors assault the ship and kidnap the crew. Here, the player takes control of Joker as they stealth their way to the ship’s computer core, where EDI instructs them on how to give her full control of the ship. If the player wasn’t already invested in taking down the collectors, this mission should hopefully give them one final personal stake in the mission.  With the final piece set in motion, it’s time for Shepard to launch their suicide mission. This will be talked about in the highlight section, as it is truly the standout moment of the game and why it is most fondly remembered.
Strongest Element ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Without a doubt, the game’s strongest elements are its cast of squadmates. Each character is memorable, from the Gilbert and Sullivan loving scientist Mordin Solus, to the curious and surprisingly emotive Legion. While in other games, the base personalities of the non player characters are what you see throughout the whole game, here the player actively take a part in their character growth.
After spending time with each character (usually by talking with them between missions), they will request a meeting with Shepard in private. Here, they open up to Shepard, telling them about a problem that they hope to fix before they go on the suicide mission. The player can actively choose which of these problems, or “loyalty missions” they can participate in. These loyalty missions, in addition to facilitating these character’s growth, can also have far reaching implications in the next game in the series.
For example, in Tali’Zorah nar Rayya’s loyalty mission, Shepard is asked to represent Tali while she is on trial for her late father’s illegal artificial intelligence research. After investigating the ship Tali’s father was in charge of, and finding evidence that implicates him in the deaths of hundreds aboard, they stand trial before a conglomeration of fleet admirals. Representing Tali, Shepard can state their cases in two distinct ways, a paragon “good option” and a renegade “brash option”. Each one leads to Tali’s expulsion from the fleet. But, if the player had focused on sticking to one moral path or the other, two extra options are unlocked. In these options, whether it’s through reminding them of her hero status, or shaming them by point out this is nothing but a power trip, the player can clear the names of both Tali and her father. If this is accomplished, hidden point values are accumulated that carry over to Mass Effect 3. If the player reaches enough points, an important moral choice is given a third “golden option”. While some missions aren’t as far reaching, they all serve to help grow the characters through the players own actions, forming a bond between the player and their squadmates.
Unsuccessful Element ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With such a strong focus on character development, it really is a shame that someone as important as Shepard hardly grows throughout the course of the story. The character creation screen, Mass Effect 1, and email conversations with their mother establish Shepard as a strong, dependable soldier who’s willing to give their all to a cause, but aside from that they don’t grow in any meaningful ways. Even coming back from the dead at the beginning of the game hardly phases Shepard, who instead is mostly just confused about where they are.
For the most part, Shepard is instead used as a static character to help showcase the diversity of their squadmates. Not that this ever becomes a problem throughout the story, as the default “Shepard personality” is a fine personality for a player avatar to have, it just becomes an issue when BioWare attempts to remedy this in Mass Effect 3 (where the characterization elements come out of nowhere and alienate players who don’t have the same emotional connections that Shepard does).
Highlight ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mass Effect 2’s suicide mission is a perfect example of how to create a climax that balances action, narrative, and player choice.  Starting with the element of player choice, the player may attempt the mission at any point in the game. While it’s not recommended in any way shape or form, the option is always there for players, and it can be attempted as soon as Shepard leaves the Cerberus base. Further, actions made throughout the game are crucial to the player’s success or failure.  The suicide mission is split into four parts;
● Navigating the Normandy to the Collector Base
○ Throughout the game, players are given different items they can research to improve the Normandy SR2. These can come from suggestions from squadmates, or are given to the players by the Illusive Man. To make it through the asteroid field on the other side of the Omega-4 Relay with all squadmates alive, players need to have acquired the Heavy Ship Armor, Multicore Shielding, and Thanix Cannon upgrades. ○ As the player approaches the base, different events will happen. If the proper upgrades aren’t used, teammates will die. Midway through the run, a powerful enemy will board the enemy, forcing the player to fight it.
● Infiltrating the Base
○ To get inside the collector base, the player will have to use the skills of a dedicated tech specialist as they move through ventilation shafts. While they progress, the player will have to defend them from Collector drones at various checkpoints. If the wrong tech specialist is chosen, or they aren’t loyal to Shepard, not only will they die, but so will others later on in the mission.
● Holding the Line and Escorting Your Biotic
○ Once the entire team has reached the area where the captured crew, depending on how long they took to start the suicide mission, one of two options will occur. One, the crew will be rescued as the captured Horizon colonists are liquified. Or two, the player will be forced to watch as their crew is liquified. If the crew is rescued in time, one squadmate will have to be chosen to escort them back to the Normandy. If the wrong squadmate is chosen, or someone isn’t loyal, the crew will die.
○ No matter what, the mission progresses. Players choose a small team so that they can escort a “biotic” (space wizard) teammate through an inhospitable zone. The other squadmates are left to hold the line. Each squadmate contributes towards a point threshold, with stronger combat oriented characters providing the most score. If certain thresholds aren’t met, squadmates will be picked off, starting with disloyal teammates.
○ The player and their squad set off towards the final boss, defending the biotic from waves of enemies. Again, choosing the wrong squadmate for the job, or choosing disloyal members will have adverse effects.
● The Final Boss
○ Here, players are tasked with fighting the games final enemy. The final boss not only wraps up the game for action oriented players, but also caps off the narrative by showing the players first hand what the captured colonists were being used for. The Collectors were in the process of creating a Reaper using human bio-essence. Every part of the games narrative has been working towards this reveal, and it pays off.
 ○ Once the final boss is defeated, the players gain one final moral choice. Destroy the collector base and end communications with the Illusive Man, or let him and Cerberus salvage technology from the base.
With the suicide mission completed, players are given a variety of different endings depending on who survived and who died. In the event that players failed every step of the way, they’re given a non canon ending in the form of Shepard dying again, permanently.
Critical Reception ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mass Effect 2 received universal acclaim upon release, earning a 96 critical score and an 8.9 user score on Metacritic.
In their review, Joe McNeilly of Gamesradar.com listed the characters and interactions between them as highlights of the game. As did Mike Fahey‘s review of the game on Kotaku.com, who mentioned that the problems faced by the squadmates, while presented in exotic ways, are still relatable to players (things like familial issues, pride vs. duty, etc.). Gamesradar ended up awarding the game five out of five stars, while Kotaku left the game unrated, instead letting the review speak for itself over a score.
Lessons ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The biggest lesson to take away from Mass Effect 2’s narrative is how to successfully make an engaging, character driven story that is still at the mercy of player choice. As mentioned in the “Strongest Element” section, by weaving player choice into the growth of the characters, players are able to make personal connections to characters in a way that not many games have tried before.     Summation ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In summary, Mass Effect 2 manages to blend narrative design, characterization, and player choice together to make an exceptional experience that stands out from the rest. In a landscape full of memorable main characters, the ability to elevate supporting characters to the same levels of praise and adoration speaks to BioWare’s strength in creating believable, realistic characters.

Day 1: Kia Ora and Welcome to Auckland!
Date of Reference: Sunday, 6/10/18 New Zealand (even though it was the middle of the afternoon on Saturday 6/9/18 US Central Time when I landed. Moving forward, I will use dates and times from the perspective of the local New Zealand time to keep things easier for me to keep track of. Isn’t time weird? Thanks celestial body movement and relativity!)
15 hours passed. I awoke to the gradual light that filtered its way from the front of the plane to the back. As I peered out the window, I continued to see darkness. All was calm. Then, the slight chime of the intercom filled the room like a soft alarm. It was the steward. “Kia Ora and good morning.” Kia Ora is a phrase New Zealand English has adopted from Maori culture (the Maori were the people that lived on the islands we now know as New Zealand long before European Colonization). Its literal translation is “be well/healthy”. The warmth of this phrase is infectious, and is a recognizable symbol of the warmth of my reception into the country, even if it was in the midst of the winter season at the time. I appreciated this change of temperature, however. Memphis had previously hit 89 degrees Fahrenheit each day. Being in a place that would maybe hit 60 degrees Fahrenheit at its highest was refreshing, to say the least.
As the plane touched down in Auckland, I disembarked down a ladder and onto the tarmac. After this, a courtesy shuttle pulled up next to the plane to transport me to customs. This happened to be similar to my connecting flight from Tokyo Haneda Airport to Akita, Japan. After the short 3 minute ride, I swiftly picked up my bag and got in line for customs. The most pressing questions I was asked was whether or not I had any food, animal goods, or outdoor equipment I would like to declare upon arrival. I mentioned that I had a pair of leather hiking boots. The customs official, while completely friendly and polite throughout our conversation, informed me that I must go through an additional biosecurity screening. I would soon learn firsthand that New Zealand takes biosecurity VERY seriously. I suppose this would make sense, as New Zealand, a small island nation, is often visited by foreign travelers for its pristine outdoor environments and activities.
Biosecurity took over an hour to get through, simply due to the number of international visitors arriving from various planes at the same time. Well… this, and the fact that there were only 2 customs officials manning the biosecurity tables/scanners initially. In retrospect, I’ll give the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries the benefit of the doubt. It was 6AM on a Sunday, after all. My training as an Industrial Engineer leaves me somewhat sensitive to situations like this, which can be frustrating at times. The line was long because of the disproportionate level of staff members to total queue length. This realization, coupled with the long flight, tried my patience. In spite of this, I maintained composure and worked to ensure I remained respectful and replied to the various instructions being received. Effectively, all I was really required to do at biosecurity was walk up to a 7-foot long metal table, open up my checked luggage, pull out my boots, and allow the customs officer to inspect the bottoms of my boots. Thankfully, they were still relatively clean (I can’t remember the last time I took a hike! This needs to change…). Had they been filthy, customs would have cleaned the boots before having me repack the bag. The only thing left to do was place the bag on the conveyor belt x-ray security machine and I was cleared to leave.

Auckland Airport resides in a southern subdivision of Auckland-proper. I was recommended to purchase a roundtrip ticket on the Skybus to get to the condo reserved downtown. After about 10 minutes of searching for the kiosk that sold SkyBus tickets, I managed to purchase a ticket and get on the bus. I was going to meet my girlfriend, Helen, and her family at the Airbnb condo from here, about a 26 km (a little over 16 miles) one way, which translates to roughly an hour of total travel time. As I got off the bus, I was standing in the midst of downtown Auckland near the bay. I could feel the gentle sea breeze chill my face as I followed some saved images from google maps to direct me to my destination. I am very glad I thought to do this while I was stateside. The airport only gave 45 minutes of complimentary wi-fi, and while the Skybus advertised free Wi-Fi, I was not permitted to access it as the cell number I had at the time could not receive texts originating from New Zealand according to the login authentication.
As I stumbled through some side streets, I came across a tall tower. The quiet of early morning vanished, and I heard someone shout “Chris!” from above. Helen’s mom happened to spot me walking up the street and flagged me down. I had arrived! I was actually surprised I managed to find familiar faces without access to the internet. This experience definitely reinforced the best practice of always having a backup plan for directional guidance. After rendezvousing with the Stritzels, I managed to drop off my bags, have breakfast, and then quickly turn around to the day’s main activity: visiting Waiheke Island.
Tumblr media
As I mentioned earlier, downtown is quite close to the port, which has several ferries departing to the nearby islands. We quickly walked from the condo to the port, purchased tickets from Fullers for one of their ferries bound for Waiheke Island, and we were off in a flash. The map earlier in this post actually shows Waiheke. It is northeast of the downtown area and takes roughly 45 minutes to sail there. Waiheke is well known across New Zealand for its beautiful nature trails, award-winning olive oil, and picturesque wineries, all of which I was able to experience in one day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We started the morning on the island with a hike. The original intention was to go to Whakanewha Regional Park. Though the hike we actually did included some wonderful trails that circled a lake wrapped by dense forests, we later learned that we were adjacent to the park while not technically being in it. To get to the forest, we disembarked from the ferry at the Fuller port located on the western part of the island. Then a bus pulled up and shuttled us more towards the center of the island. A breath of fresh air and some walking was welcome after previously being scrunched up in a metal tube for hours on end, followed by all the movement afforded me by the combined transit just mentioned. Though some would say we might have gotten a little turned around, I agree more with the popular adage: “Those who wander are not lost.” Admittedly, I think I was still ecstatic to be in a new place seeing flora and fauna I’d never seen before. Thin thatch filled evergreens blanketed the space as you can see, peppered with vibrant flowers, allowing the trail to feel like a whimsical meandering adventure!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The trailhead emptied us out close to Rangihoua Estate. As I would come to learn, Rangihoua grows olives to create high-quality olive products, including some delicious olive oils. While visiting the estate, the proprietor offered us free olive oil tastings. As the proprietor explained each type of oil available to sample, she also spoke more about the thought process that goes into developing olive oil. One of the facts that stood out was that only a few nations in the world have the right climate necessary to grow the olives necessary to craft rich oils such as these. Of those nations, Italy, New Zealand, and the United States (Texas) made the list. The estate is so intentional in its mastery of the craft, in fact, that their blends are award-winning. The Waiheke Blend (pictured above) actually won a gold medal at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney, Australia. Rangihoua was also featured in the world renowned 2017 Flos Olei Italian Guide to the World’s Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil. If you’d like to find out more about the estate, feel free to follow this link:
https://www.rangihoua.co.nz/
It was getting to be around noon, and with the growl of the stomach came the search for lunch. The proprietor recommended we go to nearby Batch Vineyard. What I did not realize was how long the approximate 2 km hike would feel, especially since it was all uphill. The views at the end of the hike, however, were breathtaking…
Tumblr media
Helen’s family decided to take in the views briefly before departing back towards the Waiheke port. They had already reserved a slot for a wine tasting downtown and had just enough time to still travel to where they needed to be. Helen and I decided to stay and enjoy lunch while taking in the views. The restaurant is actually directly behind the vantage point of the above scenic overlook. Our view from our table was spectacular to say the very least. While the food was decent, being able to sit down and take in the 360-degree views from atop Waiheke Island made this moment truly special. It may be difficult to see, but Auckland is visible in the distance around this area… (see below)
Tumblr media
After lunch, the bus picked us up to return to Waiheke port. I was certainly tired from all the walking and exploring that just took place, and was a bit relieved to begin returning to the condo. The bus slowly meandered down the hill and around various curves. After a few stops, we made it back to port. I managed to snag a coffee while we waited for the ferry. Caffeine was welcome to help stave the allure of sleep. It was beneficial for me to stay awake to get myself better adjusted to the local time as soon as possible.
Tumblr media
The ferry back to Auckland was peaceful. It was interesting to watch the various islands roll by my window. I found it interesting that there was a lone tree sitting in the middle of a field. It kept my attention until I lost sight of it. The gentle roll of the waves nearly soothed me to sleep. Good thing the caffeine kept me awake! We met back with the rest of Helen’s family at the condo and decided to have sushi at a nearby conveyor belt shop. This brought back warm memories of the many times Helen and I devoured a whole school of fish at Kappa Sushi in Akita (definitely not exaggerating here!) Feel free to read my earlier posts during my study abroad in Japan to see and hear more about conveyor belt sushi restaurants and other interesting Japanese things.
Well, that’s all for now folks! Day 1 was filled to the brim with fond memories and served as an excellent springboard into the rest of that wonderful week spent in New Zealand. Stay tuned for more posts soon!

How Will Covid-19 Change the Way Museums Are Built?
This is a great article from the September issue of the Smithsonian Magazine that talks about the impact of COVID-19 and what museums of the future will look like and also how interactions might be different.
Here’s a short excerpt - but we really encourage you to read the full article:
While many museums are adapting their physical space and instituting new safety measures to reopen, new museums may see the current moment and take on new forms. Sure, some will maintain current Covid-19 protocols, like timed ticketing and visitor count restrictions, but what else will stick in the long-term? How will people experience museums 10 or 20 years down the road, when proactive design changes to curb the spread of disease have been put in place?
Tumblr media
Museum architects, designing everything from interactive science museums and children's museums to art and history institutions, are grappling with both the changing needs Covid-19 presents and some major questions about moving forward in a safe way. Michael Govan, director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and a leader in exploring how the public interacts with art, says a number of issues need to be addressed, among them making exhibits accessible to everyone, even if they don't have the proper device or internet for virtual experiences; eliminating elevators or at least make them more socially distant (LACMA already has one 21-foot-wide elevator that serves this purpose); and handling group tours.
From later in the article:
The typical exhibition space at art and history museums consists of large open rooms, flanked and filled with display cases or artwork—which, on crowded days, has a dismal effect on social distancing. In order to keep a six-foot distance in mind, exhibits and their layouts will need to be retooled. (For hands-on science museums and children's museums, the logistics of exhibit changes are paralyzingly complex.) Spolidoro suggests using a labyrinthine design concept, where you enter in one place, follow a curated path throughout the exhibit so that you don’t pass the same place twice, and exit at another spot.
That still, though, could leave an issue: text on walls. Govan and his team have been trying to eliminate it for years.
“I’ve wanted to get rid of wall text and wall labels my whole career for various reasons, including the difficulty of eye focus, coming up close, stepping back,” he says. “It’s a real accessibility issue, and also [there's a bad] experience of crowding around wall text and trying to look over people’s shoulders. It’s hard to change the way we work, [but] one of the things that’s happening with Covid is the license to experiment. What we’re going to find from the experimentation—reducing wall texts, spacing works farther apart—is a better experience, which we could have found otherwise, but this is forcing us into trying it out.”
Govan thinks mobile and digital experiences, like phone calls, videos or pamphlets you can experience beforehand to create some context for the exhibits, could replace wall text. Virtual experiences could come into play here, as well. At the new U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum in Colorado Springs, one of the main exhibits will be a digital experience of the Parade of Nations. In it, visitors to the museum will walk through a 360-degree immersive experience, allowing them to join Team USA “virtually” as they carry the American flag in the parade.

“I still can’t believe this works.. what magic is this?!”
I’ve been listening to these audios repeatedly for a while now. I’ve been seeing 555, 11:11, 22:22 nothing happened for a while but after about 2 weeks, my sales have gone from 3 figures a month to 4 figures a month and it keeps growing. I still can’t believe this works.. what magic is this?!
Here’s my tip – don’t give up if it doesn’t happen immediately.. set your intentions clearly (very important), keep listening until you see the signs repeatedly, whatever it is you’re trying to manifest – it’s coming. Signs were everywhere for me – especially on my phone and my computer. I just kept seeing it, so I kept listening, putting out positive vibes and it finally happened for me.

“I use Manifestation Magic exclusively.”
Alexander,
I purchased your program and have been using it every day since. Your programs resonate with me and I will continue to use them.
So, please do not worry.
I purchased two other manifestation programs in the past that do not compare with what you produce. I use Manifestation Magic exclusively.

“But WHOA these audios are different!!”
I’ve tried lots of other audios before – Brainwave, Subliminals, Hypnosis, you name it I’ve tried them all.. so I was expecting this to be like the same old crap I tried. But WHOA these audios are different!! I feel so energized and confident, I feel like new man! I don’t care much about money but my focus is self-transformation! …It’s weird I am seeing myself become stronger and feel more powerful day after day!

I am amazed at the result so far! Apart from a shift in consciousness, after I filled in part one of the form and visualized a business class seat for my upcoming UK trip (which I had already booked economy), today in my email box I received a flier from the very carrier I was flying with telling me about their business class deals!"
I've recently started using your program and must admit to having a hefty dose of skepticism before beginning, having tried lots of similar programs in the past. However, after listening as suggested to several of the audios over a few days and beginning to complete the order form, I am amazed at the result so far! Apart from a shift in consciousness, after I filled in part one of the form and visualized a business class seat for my upcoming UK trip (which I had already booked economy), today in my email box I received a flier from the very carrier I was flying with telling me about their business class deals! If that’s not a sign that the universe is listening and putting wheels in motion, I don’t know what is! Very impressed and looking forward to moving in a new direction.

“I got $322 unexpected
deposit into my bank account...”
... The first day, nothing happened...
The second day I got a fillup on gas and $50 cash...
The SECOND time I tried this, I got $135 on the first day…
The THIRD time I tried it a week later, I got $322 unexpected deposit into my bank account…
Yesterday I did it again without even knowing it…woke up to someone calling me to give me $160

“...I listen to the twilight one every night, all night...”
...I listen to the twilight one every night, all night...
... I seem to be able to deal with whatever is being thrown at me at the moment and deal with it and let it go.
I've been more of a positive person the past few days....
At least now, (and this is just after a few days) I can say I deserve and receive whatever the universe wants to give me.....instead of, I don't deserve.
So, thank you very much for putting these audios together.
