I just reread AB- and I just needed to tell you how much I love that idea. It's probably the most unique thing I've stumbled across so far. And that last line... "You're happier alone... at peace with just your memories to keep you warm at night." it's feels very comforting to read that. This might just be one of my favourite fics of you!

JSLDFJLF THANK YOU SO MUCH D; i agree that it’s one of my more interesting ideas and i was surprised that ive never read anything like this before... but unfortunately the plot isnt working out in my mind... but i am hopeful that one day i will be able to come up with a coherent plot and continue it :D

So I’m looking for some anomalies

I’m RH negative (or AB- to be more precise), red-headed, diabetic, left handed, dating a member of the same sex and blue eyed. 

I’m basically a giant recessive gene of obscurity. 

That’s 1% of the population,  2%, 2.8%, 10%, unknown% (estimated at around 3.5% in the US) and 8%.

Curious to see if anyone else fits quite a few of these boxes on here.

BTW, one of my 4 brothers is AB Negative like I am. We are also the only red-headed siblings. We are rare.  And delicious.

So my blood type is AB-, and I realize that this is the rarest blood type (only about 1% of white people according to some sources).  But does the Red Cross have to call me every day after I become eligible to ask me to donate blood?  I'm not exaggerating--they call me at least every other day.  It's not like AB- is a particularly needed blood type either--The only people who can take AB- blood are AB people (given Rh compatibility).  And AB- people can receive any blood that this Rh-.  I understand that the blood banks are low at the moment but they do this even when we're not.  The state's blood center used to do the same thing to me. 

Do they do this to everyone or is it just me?

I helped save a baby boy today! And this is my very energetic cheerleading squad, haha! Got a call to duty yesterday from the blood bank needing my rare blood type, AB- for a baby boy. Arrived this morning to found out he was having heart surgery, and oh boy, baby heart surgery is near and dear to my heart. Watching my bestie and longest friend ever, Sarah, and her family go through a major heart surgery with their beautiful little girl Nicole, I would do ANYTHING to be able to help and make life even a tiny bit better for them while having to go through what they have to go through. I would walk over hot coals to get to the blood center to donate. I was initially called in to donate whole blood but when a girl with a giddy smile and a clipboard came over to "chat", they eagerly upgraded me to platelet donation as their designated platelet donor for this baby boy had a low platelet count and couldn't do it. So anywaaaay, I got to give THE unit of platelets they desperately needed for this little baby boy's tiny baby heart surgery. My heart is so happy to be able to help! I've got the warm fuzzies

Today I realized, we're all special

I went to donate some blood today and found out that I share my blood type with only 4% of the world's population.

What a nice reminder that we are all special and we all need each others.

It's common knowledge that heart disease risk can be raised by smoking, obesity and your family history. Now, a new study adds to the list that your very own blood type might increase risk for future heart problems. Harvard researchers have found that people with blood types A, B or AB have a higher risk for coronary heart disease than people with blood type O. People with the rarest blood type, AB, were found to have the greatest risk.

The researchers found that people with type AB blood - found in only 7 percent of the U.S. population - were 23 percent more likely to develop heart disease. Those with type B blood had an 11 percent increased risk, followed by those with type A who had a 5 percent risk. 

Aw crap. I'm AB-. So I have another thing to worry about when I get older.
