Indian Elections: The Campaign and how much it worked (Part 1)
Since the results are out, let's talk about it (as if we haven't been doing it since the last few hours) properly.
First of all, Uttar Pradesh voters, you people are betrayers. I'm not saying it, BJP & its supporters are. But seriously, Samajvadi Party's campaign for this year was definitely strong. Yogi really thought that it's going to be a piece of cake didn't he. Thank you voters for showing them the ground reality. Ayodhya, Amethi, Raebareli, the trinity of my joy.
Rajasthan. Yes, BJP won here with 14 seats. But lost 10 seats. Congress really shone on its own here, gaining 8 seats when in the last election, it was on the zero mark. Sachin Pilot and that man alone worked on Rajasthan. Honestly they need to put him front and center.
Madhya Pradesh is 100% a well-deserved BJP sweep. Let's not forget that it's not the Modi factor that worked here, it was Shivraj Singh Chauhan. That man worked his ass off during Vidhaan Sabha campaign last year and it really paid off in Lok Sabha. (God, I still remember women crying when he didn't become the Chief Minister).
I guess it was tough for West Bengal voters, no? I'm not much familiar Bengal politics but from what I've heard, they had to choose between two evils. Still, Didi gets 29 out of 42 seats, leaving BJP and Congress on the 6 and 1 mark respectively.
Lmao, they fucked up in Bihar. I can rant for hours about this. The seat distribution was already messed up, but Nitish Babu leaving put the nail in the coffin. BJP and JD(U) won 12 seats each, with RJD and Congress winning 4 and 3 respectively. Left also got 2 or 3 seats. I'm glad Pappu Yadav (on Purniya seat) won nirdaliye. Well deserved.
As for Odisha, I guess people have lost all the hopes in Naveen Patnaik, because BJD remained on zero, BJP getting all of its seats (20). Congress won 1 seat here.
I don't have much to say about Delhi. It's a BJP sweep. I guess AAP didn't get to campaign much since Arvind Kejriwal was literally put in jail? I'm still salty that Kanhaiya Kumar lost.
That's all for now, rest in the next part.

Kejriwal Expresses Gratitude to Rahul and Kharge for Backing AAP on Delhi Services Bill
The Delhi Services Bill took center stage as Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal extended his heartfelt appreciation to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Rahul Gandhi. Their resolute support for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against the GNCTD (Amendment) Bill, 2023, was acknowledged by Kejriwal with gratitude.
In individual letters addressed to Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, Kejriwal conveyed his thanks on behalf of Delhi's populace, numbering two crore. He lauded their party's stance in opposing and voting against the GNCTD (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Kejriwal's letters carried his profound respect for the Congress leaders' commitment to safeguarding the rights of Delhi's citizens both within the Parliament's chambers and beyond.
Kejriwal stated, "I would like to place on record the heartfelt appreciation for championing the rights of the people of Delhi inside as well as outside the Parliament. I am certain that your unflinching loyalty towards the principles of our Constitution will be remembered for decades."
The Delhi Chief Minister's remarks also hinted at his collaboration with the 'I.N.D.I.A' bloc, a coalition of 26 Opposition parties. He expressed eagerness for their continued support in the ongoing battle against elements that undermine the Constitution. Kejriwal's letters were in harmony with similar gestures extended to Nitish Kumar, Uddhav Thackeray, Mamta Banerjee, Sharad Pawar, MK Stalin, Hemant Soren, and KCR.
Notably, the Delhi Services Bill triumphed in the Rajya Sabha, garnering a significant victory for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Securing 131 votes in favor, the bill surpassed the opposition coalition 'I.N.D.I.A,' which managed 102 votes against it. Following this outcome, Arvind Kejriwal passionately critiqued the Central government for their approach and interference in Delhi's governance.
Kejriwal's affinity for his role as 'Delhi ka beta' resonated as he highlighted the consistent support from the people, reinforcing his commitment to governance aligned with their aspirations. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the impact of collaborative efforts and the voice of the people remain integral to the fabric of India's democracy.

Last Updated:February 11, 2025, 00:16 ISTDelhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva claimed that the CM's bungalow was expanded by merging four government properties. Former CM Arvind Kejriwal's official residence | File Image/PTIDelhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva on Monday said that the new Chief Minister of Delhi would not stay at the “Sheesh Mahal" which was key to the party’s campaign against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi elections.Sachdeva urged Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to revoke the merger of four properties with the “Sheesh Mahal" (6, Flagstaff Road). He claimed that the CM’s bungalow was expanded by merging four government properties.“The next Chief Minister of Delhi will not stay in it (the bungalow)," Sachdeva said, adding that the BJP-led government will take a call on what to do with the property. The renovated bungalow was Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence as Delhi’s chief minister from 2015 until October 2024, when he vacated it after resigning amid corruption allegations from the BJP.However, in the last few years, the luxurious reconstruction of the bungalow caught everyone’s attention, especially the BJP, who named it “Sheesh Mahal." The party also accused Kejriwal of hypocrisy, contrasting his public image as a “common man" with his alleged private indulgence in luxury at the public’s expense.Rohini MLA Writes To L-GNewly elected BJP MLA from Rohini and former Leader of Opposition, Vijender Gupta, addressed a letter to the Lieutenant Governor, urging the immediate restoration of the chief minister’s official residence to its original condition and the removal of alleged encroachments on adjacent government properties. In his letter, Gupta accused Kejriwal of turning his official residence into a “sheesh mahal" funded by public money. He claimed that Kejriwal expanded the property from 10,000 square meters to over 50,000 square meters by illegally annexing surrounding government properties, including eight Type-V flats at 45 and 47 Rajpur Road and government bungalows at 8A and 8B Flagstaff Road.Gupta called this expansion both illegal and unethical, claiming it was done without proper permission or adherence to legal procedures. It comes after the BJP won 48 of 70 Assembly seats in the Delhi elections, ending AAP’s decade-long rule in the capital. New Delhi, India – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party has returned to power in the country’s capital Delhi after 27 years, trouncing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in a major setback for the anti-BJP opposition.
Twelve years since their sensational ride to power in the 2013 assembly elections on the back of a popular anticorruption movement, it was clear Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, his deputy, had lost their constituencies well before vote counting had finished on Saturday.
The AAP temporarily locked down its party headquarters in central Delhi on Saturday afternoon as celebrations broke out at the nearby BJP offices, adorned in the party colour of saffron, with party workers dancing and distributing sweets. “Development wins, good governance triumphs,” Modi wrote on X.

[ad_1] Kumar Rakesh New Delhi, 10th Feb. Bharat, the world’s largest democracy, is facing a series of challenges that are reshaping its political and social landscape. From violent assaults on public officials to ideological battles over nationalism and security, the nation finds itself at a critical juncture. The resurgence of separatist movements, communal tensions, and debates over governance have intensified divisions, testing the resilience of its democratic institutions. As protests erupt, security concerns rise, and political clashes dominate headlines, the need for dialogue, accountability, and reform has never been more urgent. Amidst these turbulent times, Bharat must navigate a path that upholds its core values of unity, justice, and democratic integrity. Alleged Assault on Delhi’s Chief Secretary In February 2018, a significant controversy emerged when Delhi’s Chief Secretary, Anshu Prakash, alleged that he was assaulted during a meeting at then Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. The meeting, held at midnight, was reportedly convened to discuss issues related to the distribution of ration to citizens. Prakash claimed that he was physically attacked by two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs in the presence of Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. This incident led to widespread condemnation and highlighted the strained relationship between the elected government and the bureaucratic machinery in Delhi. The legal proceedings that followed saw various developments. In October 2018, Kejriwal, Sisodia, and 11 other AAP legislators were granted bail by the Patiala House Court. The court proceedings continued over the years, with the former Chief Secretary labeling Kejriwal and Sisodia as the “kingpins” of the conspiracy. However, in August 2021, a Delhi court discharged Kejriwal, Sisodia, and others in the case, citing insufficient evidence to proceed to trial. This decision was upheld in subsequent appeals, bringing a controversial end to the high-profile case. Support for Khalistan Movement The resurgence of support for the Khalistan movement, advocating for a separate Sikh homeland, has raised alarms. Events like the Khalistan Referendum in Calgary, Canada, which honored individuals designated as terrorists, have internationalized the issue. The Bharatiya government has expressed concerns over foreign entities supporting separatist movements, viewing them as threats to national unity and security. Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) Protests and Riots The enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act led to widespread protests across the country, culminating in the 2020 Delhi riots. The violence resulted in significant loss of life and property, exposing deep-seated communal tensions. Critiques have been directed at the Delhi Police for their handling of the situation, with allegations of inaction and complicity. The riots underscored the challenges in balancing legislative actions with societal harmony. Murder of Ankit Sharma Ankit Sharma, an Intelligence Bureau officer, was tragically killed during the Delhi riots. His death became emblematic of the chaos and brutality of the period. Investigations led to arrests, but the incident highlighted the perils faced by security personnel during civil unrest and the need for robust protective measures. Opposition to the Indian Army Segments of society have voiced opposition to the Indian Army’s actions in certain regions, leading to a polarized discourse on national security and human rights. While some criticize alleged excesses, others emphasize the army’s role in maintaining sovereignty and internal stability. This dichotomy reflects the broader debate on the balance between security and civil liberties. Support for ‘Tukde Tukde’ Gang The term ‘Tukde Tukde’ gang has been used to describe groups perceived as advocating for the fragmentation of Bharat. Support for such entities has been a contentious issue, with accusations of sedition leveled against activists and students.
This has sparked debates on freedom of expression and the limits of dissent in a democratic society. Settlement of Rohingya Refugees in Delhi The issue of Rohingya refugees has been a contentious topic in Bharat, particularly concerning their settlement in the national capital. The Rohingya, a predominantly Muslim ethnic group from Myanmar, have fled persecution and sought refuge in various countries, including Bharat. Estimates suggest that around 40,000 Rohingya reside in Bharat, with significant populations in Jammu, Hyderabad, and Delhi. In recent times, the presence of Rohingya refugees in Delhi has become a focal point of political debate. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have exchanged accusations over the settlement and support of these refugees. AAP leaders have alleged that the central government facilitated the settlement of Rohingyas in Delhi, while BJP leaders have countered that the AAP government provided them with amenities and support. The legal status of Rohingya refugees in Bharat remains precarious. Bharat is not a signatory to the 1951 UN Refugee Convention, and as such, Rohingyas are often classified as illegal immigrants. This classification has led to challenges in accessing basic services. In February 2025, the Supreme Court of India was set to hear a plea from an NGO seeking directions to grant Rohingya refugees access to public schools and hospitals. The plea highlighted that many refugees were denied these services due to the lack of Aadhaar cards, despite possessing UNHCR identification. The incidents discussed above underscore the complex interplay between politics, governance, and human rights in Bharat. The alleged assault on the Chief Secretary highlighted the tensions that can arise between elected representatives and bureaucrats, emphasizing the need for clear protocols and mutual respect to ensure effective governance. On the other hand, the situation of Rohingya refugees brings to the fore the challenges of balancing national security concerns with humanitarian obligations. While it is essential to ensure the country’s security, it is equally important to uphold the principles of compassion and provide basic human rights to those seeking refuge. Conclusion Bharat’s journey as a diverse and democratic nation is fraught with challenges that test its institutional frameworks and societal values. The incidents of the alleged assault on the Chief Secretary and the debates over Rohingya settlements are reflective of broader issues that require nuanced and balanced approaches. It is imperative for all stakeholders, including the government, judiciary, civil society, and citizens, to engage in constructive dialogue, uphold the rule of law, and foster an environment that respects human rights and democratic principles. Only through such collective efforts can Bharat navigate its complexities and continue on its path of progress and inclusivity.   The post Bharat at a Crossroads: Political Unrest, National Security, and the Battle for Unity appeared first on Global Governance News- Asia's First Bilingual News portal for Global News and Updates.
