Firstly: get dunk'd, transphobe.
Secondly, nice source, dipshit:
I have to do everything, don't I?
Let's talk about this source before we even read this article, because it shows how poor your rhetorical analysis skills are - or how unwilling you are to practice those skills, or perhaps just how willing you are to ally yourself with racist, nationalist, far-right reactionaries if they also happen to be transphobic.
Wings Over Scotland is a far-right, nationalist, reactionary blog run by Scottish "video game journalist" Stuart Campbell. It is not an unbiased news website - it's some dude's personal blog, and he created it because he hated that mainstream news in Scotland wasn't spreading the far-right rhetoric he wished it would.
And this is what you used as a "source". Fucking laughable.
Now let's get into the actual blog post. I refuse to call it a "news article", because it's not. This one was written by a nobody named "Mar Vickers". At the bottom of the article, Stuart claims Mar has "extensive experience in equality law". I can't seem to find any indication Mar is some sort of lawyer or scholar; all I can find is a link to his twitter - sorry, I mean his "X":
https://twitter.com/mar2vickers
You can tell this is the same Mar based on the content of his tweets. He's also transphobic garbage, surprise surprise. He has a backup account on "gettr", because it seems like his twitter gets suspended frequently - which says a lot. Gettr is a clone of twitter that caters to right wingers who get suspended and banned on Twitter for constantly violating its hate speech policies. So. You know. Though these days, X is the safe-haven for far-right reactionaries, so honestly that's a red flag period.
As a summary: Mar doesn't understand surveys or their limits, he doesn't define what a "sex crime" is, he doesn't know what the Rorschach test is, and he's bad at math. He plays with numbers like he's some sort of population statistician, which he's not. He draws conclusions that are completely nonsense, because he's not asking the relevant questions.
Basically, he states that over the past few years, the ratio of trans women in jail for sex crimes to compared to the general population of trans woman is now higher than the ratio of cis men in jail for sex crimes compared to the general population of cis men. Ok, but why did these numbers change? He doesn't ask why. He just assumes these trends are natural and reflect the behavior of cis men and trans women, rather than the increased transphobia in England and Wales that he and his buddy Stuart have been fueling.
I absolutely don't doubt that trans women are incarcerated for "sex crimes" (which he never defines of course) at a higher rate per population than cis men. It's the same reason people of color are incarcerated more per population: bigotry. "Wow, this population of people who society hates sure gets sent to jail a lot. That's probably a reflection of their true nature, and not a reflection on society at large!"

I agree sometimes on influencers and entertainers not speaking on things they aren’t educated about and don’t care to be educated about. I think they can do more harm than good spreading wrong information. Also, it really just shows their true colors anyways.
For Chris though… this man has made a whole political platform. He inserted himself into politics by acting like he truly cares about political, social and world events. He’s even historically been vocal about certain things and it’s wild to think he deserves a pass because he’s jUsT an aCtoR. Or maybe because he has aNxIeTy. Bffr.
He thought his popularity could carry him into other avenues, but with a dwindling and dying fan base he probably realized this wasn’t going to work. He curated a perfect Steve rogers esque persona over the years, but he forgot he has to maintain it. He seems like he’s now content staying silent and not rocking the boat. Also, It’d be weird to speak up on issues while people are calling out your wife for her past problematic behavior.
Not to mention the website was already problematic and most of us who were supportive should have seen the red flags. The fact that the site gives a “neutral” stance on political issues and parties. Lol. Okay, Jan. Then having just genuinely the wrong type of people chosen to speak on issues, ick.
Man is 🗑️ and I’ll die on that hill.
He hoped he would have his cake and eat it too.
That is genuinely what I believe he thought would happen. Got a lot of support, and a lot of publicity, when he tweeted against trump.
The world needed that. The world rallied against trump and then they rallied for Chris. He had already been portrayed as a fucking saint because he played Steve Rogers, the literally perfect man.
Him and his PR team both wanted to ride that train as far as it would take them.
They thought it would take them to the end.
But him marrying someone who looks like a minor, SIXTEEN years his junior, who still portrays roles as a minor because she looks the part, who has clear racist behavior and affilations in her past? They did not anticipate that.
I do believe Chrissy-boo thought he had reached a level of untouchable, because of his dick-pic.
Babe. The pic wasn't that good. We don't excuse racism, fatphobia or anti-semitism just because we saw a mediocre peen.
As a "proclaimed feminist" you should know that. Your team should, too.
Now you're trying to rebuild by FIRST supporting Israel and NOW changing your stance because the US is being called out on the fact they're funding a genocide by Israel against Palestine?
No bueno. No bueno at all.
This man is toast.
Let him "thrive" in his little roles, looking like a cooked up who-knows-what. Between the veneers, wigs, and excessive amounts of botox, it will be just a few years before "fans" watch him in a movie without ever realizing he's playing the character in it.
He's over. He's been over for a while. He does not have the backbone or the talent to make a proper comeback. His current Razzie status should tell you all you need to know.
Why the fuck are people still supporting this racist actor-wannabe?

do you have any tips for trying to convince non-larries of the truth?
Not really tbh. It's very difficult to convince anyone to stop believing in something that they hold to be true, whether it's a belief or lack thereof. This goes for you, me, and everyone. Most people in debates don't listen to the other party and instead try to think up a counterpoint to whatever their argument is. Each person is already fully convinced of what they believe to be true or not true.
The thing that a lot of antis fall victim to is something called slothful induction:
"Slothful induction, also called appeal to coincidence, is a fallacy in which an inductive argument is denied its proper conclusion, despite strong evidence for inference."
This means that they write anything and everything off as mere coincidence, and they don't consider the probability of certain coincidences being more or less likely to happen. Basically, whether "larry is real" isn't a question so much of "is it a fact" but moreso a question of "Is it more or less likely?" and also "How much more or less likely is it?".
Take for example the blue bandana project theory.
The first project was for wearing certain-colored clothing. Obviously this would not be easy for the members of 1D to participate in as they'd have to wear the same colored clothing at every concert, but then the project was changed to bandanas.
It's unclear exactly how popular this project was, but I know it was popular enough for 1D to take notice of fans doing it.
(Harry is wearing red, green, and blue in the first image; it is unclear why, but my hypothesis was that he was just given them and wanted to support the project or let people know that he knew of it)
Anyway, he was first spotted wearing a dark blue bandana in August 2014, and he wore it at the concert that night too, a little after the project was started [it was started for the WWA tour as far as I know, and the WWA tour went from April to October 2014 (and the project continued on into the OTRA tour in 2015)]:
He purchased the bandana while in Nashville at Imogene + Willie's, a couple days before the concert in Houston. Imogene + Willie's is like a gift shop, and they sell a variety of things. They sell 11 different bandanas, and the one Harry decided to purchase was the dark blue one, which matches the color of Louis's microphone and the color for the Bandana project that's meant to state that you're a 'Louis girl'.
Here is the link to the bandanas listed on the website.
He still wears that same bandana to this day:
And sometimes this one from another brand:
He doesn't wear bandanas super often, but when he does, it is, like, 90% of the time these dark blue ones. He's worn this red one too for instance:
So, if you want to actually figure out the mathematical probability of this being a coincidence, you would, first of all, have to do a lot more digging and researching than I did just now lol.
Secondly, you'd have to ask some questions. Here are some off the top of my head:
• What exact date did the Bandana Project start?
• How popular was the Bandana Project? To figure this out, you'll have to ask a set of questions: 1. Did #BandanaProject ever trend and, if so, when? 2. How many tweets were there from the time it started to the time, say, 1D's hiatus started? 3. Were there ever many signs related to the Bandana Project at concerts which the members of 1D could have seen, and, if so, how many instances of this can you find on video or in pictures? 4. In footage from the WWA tour and the OTRA tour, how many people on average can you see wearing the specific-colored bandanas?
• How many times did it seem like the members of 1D knew of the project -- as in, exactly how many times did they insinuate it by either wearing a colored bandana or by acknowledging it in some way, shape, or form?
• How many times has Harry worn a bandana of any color since the Bandana Project started up until now?
• How many times has Harry worn a dark blue bandana since the start of the Bandana Project in comparison to how many times he's worn any other color since the start of the Bandana Project? Calculate the exact ratio.
To answer all of those questions would actually take a fuck-ton of research that I'm not prepared to do as of now. But, if you were able to get conclusive answers to these questions with a huge amount of evidence and if you didn't go into it with bias but a desire to figure out whether this theory holds up or not regardless of your identity as an anti, larrie, or neutral, then you could go on to calculate the probability of it all being a coincidence or not. You would have to figure out exact numbers from the answers to the questions above.
There are more questions we need to consider, and probably some I haven't even thought of. One such would be: Harry has worn bandanas before the Bandana Project started, but how many of them were blue or dark blue as opposed to any other color, and how many of the bandanas that he has worn after the Bandana Project were dark blue as opposed to any other color? Calculate the exact difference/ratio of the before and the after.
You have to think like an anti too if you want to figure this out, because you need to go in with the mindset of actually trying to debunk the theory rather than prove it, because, if you're trying to prove it, it's a lot easier for a ton of bias to slip in, like ignoring contradicting evidence.
If you're ever going to try to do something like this, just know you will have to spend weeks to even months compiling research. It may not seem like it would take that much time, but... if you really wanted to know the exact probability of it being a coincidence vs. not being a coincidence, you would have to sift through so many tweets, videos, posts, articles, reverse-image-searching for exact dates, or whatever else you can think of to find as much information as you can just in order to get exact or as nearly-exact-as-you-can numbers. Only then could you actually prove anything, like, actually scientifically. Even then, an opposing party in a debate will not take one instance of something being more likely to not be a coincidence rather than to be one as enough sufficient evidence to conclude a wider statement such as "Harry and Louis are in a secret relationship." If we wanted to once and for all prove this, I'm pretty sure it would take actual years to do so, as there is 13 years worth of stuff to go through. You would have to sift through masterposts and gather only what you think could be hard/concrete evidence, and then for each of those pieces of evidence you would have to do exactly what I just went over that you'd have to do with the Bandana Project. You would have to take a logic class and understand mathematical probability, and you would have to do checks to see how valid your math/logic is, and you would have to potentially consult someone to check for bias or to see if you might have forgotten to ask yourself a question that could potentially support the other case.
Basically you would have to employ the scientific method. This, again, could take years.
That's all I'm saying because it truly is extremely difficult to prove anything in a debate unless you have, like, actual statistics to go based on, which... we don't have since no one has put in the extensive effort it would take to do so just yet.

Famous Logos of Famous Brands: A Playful Dive into the World of Symbolic Branding
Logos are the visual ambassadors of a brand, the small icons that hold the immense responsibility of representing a company's values, identity, and market presence. This article is inspired from the website Stunning World Facts.
These tiny graphical wonders have a way of becoming unforgettable, etching themselves into our minds like that one catchy jingle you can't help but hum along to. Have you ever wondered what makes these logos so iconic? How do they manage to convey so much with just a few lines and shapes?
Below are stories of famous Logos after reading the post from the above mentioned website.
Let's start our logo journey with the iconic swoosh of Nike. It's as if someone took a lightning bolt and said, "Let's make it cool and sporty." The simplicity of the swoosh is genius. But here's the million-dollar question: Is it just a swoosh or a hidden message that challenges us to 'Just Do It'? How many people have been inspired to conquer the world while trying to lace up their sneakers? Is there a secret society of sneaker enthusiasts who decode logo messages in their free time?
Moving on to the bitten apple of Apple. Is it a nod to the tale of Snow White? Did Apple want to make a statement about the irresistibility of their products, as tempting as the forbidden fruit? And what about the bite? Did someone get hungry while designing the logo or was it to ensure that people don't mistake it for a tomato? Have you ever tried to bite into your iPhone, just to be sure?
Starbucks offers us a mermaid, or is it a siren? Are they trying to say their coffee is so alluring it could tempt sailors? And what's with the name Starbucks? Are they trying to promote astronomy alongside coffee – a latte with a side of stargazing, perhaps? Have you ever wondered if the siren gets a caffeine boost from all the coffee aroma around?
The golden arches of McDonald's – do they represent entry into a fast-food utopia? Or are they just the biggest, boldest pair of French fries ever drawn? And that clown, Ronald McDonald, who's probably never had a burger in his life – is he the real mastermind behind the logo? Do you ever secretly wish for a McFlurry while passing a McDonald's, even if you're stuffed to the brim?
Coca-Cola's elegant swirls – are they trying to hypnotize us into craving their sugary elixir? Is there a secret formula hidden within the curves? And the bright red color – is it a warning that you're entering a zone of high-energy sugar rush? Have you ever tried to recreate the Coca-Cola logo with the last few sips of your drink?
Now, let's talk about the Twitter bird. Is it a songbird or a messenger pigeon? Does it carry our tweets to the virtual realm, or is it just here for some light social interaction? And what does it feel like to be a bird with millions of followers? Do they get performance anxiety before each tweet, wondering if it will be retweeted or just lost in the sea of hashtags?
In this world of logos, where symbols carry stories and memories, these questions might seem trivial, but they add a layer of intrigue to the brands we interact with every day. While we may never know all the answers, one thing's for sure – logos have a way of sparking our curiosity, inviting us to ponder the hidden tales behind the designs.
So, next time you see a logo, take a moment to reflect. What's the story behind it? What emotions does it evoke? And most importantly, does it make you want to buy their product or embark on a quest to uncover logo mysteries? Whether it's a swoosh, a bitten apple, a mermaid, golden arches, swirling letters, or a little blue bird, remember that there's always more to a logo than meets the eye.

i saw a post today where someone stated that they often can't tell real information from misinformation online. i am not here to make fun of that person. that being said, the ability to figure out if information is real or not is a critical skill for everyone who uses the internet. you need to be able to do that on your own. it's great if you can get help or if people will tell you what's real and what's not, but you also need to be able to do it by yourself. simple, easy tips under the cut.
the most common style of misinformation i see on tumblr is the fake news headline. it's an image or multiple images of a headline and sometimes an attached story. easy tips to discovering whether this is real or not:
is there a link in the post? click it and see where it goes. no link? possibly fake, possibly the poster just didn't include it.
google the full headline, not just key words. even better, google the headline with the full headline in quotes so you get exact matches. can't find a match? probably fake.
is there a clear url/website attached to the headline? if so, go to the website and search for the headline. can't find a match? probably fake.
is there an author? google them. see if they're real. see if the subject of the article matches the stuff they usually write about. see if they have social media where they may have posted the headline. can't find an author, or they seem way off-track? probably fake.
if it's an image of a tweet, look up the person's twitter handle. can't find the tweet? possibly fake. it could also be a real tweet with the text or date edited.
is there a date? a story written in 2002 may have very different ramifications than a story written in 2022. it depends on the subject, but some subjects change rapidly and even a 5-year-old story may be out of date. see if you can find anything recent. if not, it may be fake or out of context.
go to google news and do a quick scan. this is going to work better for headlines that are about world news, but it's still worth a try. google news also allows you to search stories and limit by date. see if you can find a matching headline. if you can't, it may be fake or old news.
general tips:
don't trust social media. just don't. please. people can and will say literally anything they want. anything you read on social media that has real-world implications, you should fact-check.
you may think it's overkill, but google everything. even things you're mostly sure of. reading more headlines and more news can help you get better at discerning between real and fake headlines.
every source of information is biased in some way. try to seek out less biased sources. look up the bias media chart (here's a link) and use it to find sources that do less biased and more original reporting.
think about bias as you're reading. who is the author writing for? why are they writing? what do they want the audience to feel? what facts are they choosing to include or omit? how might the presentation of the facts change if someone with a different perspective was writing?
there are also websites dedicated to fact-checking. this works best for major world news, but try snopes or factcheck. the rand corporation has a huge list of tools for rooting out disinformation as well.
there's nothing wrong with asking for help, but if you genuinely cannot figure out if something is real or not on your own, and you give up trying to figure it out without help, you run the risk of believing and even spreading misinformation. some misinformation is essentially harmless (a celebrity's favorite color, for example). some misinformation is incredibly dangerous. please please PLEASE check your facts. it is quick and easy and worth it.
if you need more help, let me know.
#this is not a vague at anyone and personally i think some misinformation is funny.#*** **** ********** was hysterical i laughed my ass off at that#mutuals this is very much NOT about you <3#however. i was really concerned that someone essentially said the only way they could tell if something was fake is if it was tagged#again not making fun of that person#not opposed to tagging or asking for help but i am concerned that not everyone here can figure out what's real and what's not#everyone needs to be able to do that#period.#happy to provide help or answer questions but this is a skill everyone - myself included - can and should work on#also i know 10 pm on mcr night is a bad time to post this but it was bothering me

The Unlabeled Flag and DNF
Disclaimer: I'm not unlabeled, and I do not mean to disrespect anyone. This might be a little unhinged.
As far as I am aware, this is the popular/common flag used for the unlabeled identity.
I sort of fell down a rabbit hole with it. Without trying to drag in any CC's that aren't necessary, I was watching a recent Tubbo stream, where he opens with his opinion on having the Unlabeled term pushed onto him. It's not super important to where I'm going with this, but it made me think:
Who made the unlabeled flag, and are they unlabeled?
With other pride flags, there have been issues with what the flag represents and the intentions behind creating the flag. An example that comes to mind is the various iterations of the lesbian flag.
I'll try my best to link everything and provide screenshots.
With a google search, I found:
Specific slide: https://unlabeledinfo.carrd.co/#five
I don't have Twitter, so I used the website to find the handle. Also, I have no clue how to use Twitter, so bare with me. No account came up. So I instead put the handle in google, and I found an account that I am very heavily assuming is the creator of the unlabeled flag above.
All of this information is public. I am not doxxing anyone.
To further support this, I checked the LGBTQIA+ Wiki:
"It is unclear who created the four stripe unlabeled pride flag, but its first use was by Twitter user lwtroses.[2] It also may have been created by Twitter users LOVERSHSLOT and fearlesslyhaz.[3] The colors have particular meanings: green represents freedom, white represents understanding, blue represents acceptance, and orange represents flexibility."
So this is the same person as @lwtroses (lwtsroses?) and @dwtroses. @LOVERSHSLOT has moved accounts a million times, but they seem to be a friend of dwtroses.
Anyways,
Q: Is the creator of the unlabeled flag unlabeled?
A: Yes!
But I decided I had to know their intentions, as well.
They're a fan of Dream and the Dream Team. Now, I will give absolutely no opinion on Dream, nor will I claim this is even a bad thing, let alone a cancelable thing. Next, I saw they had a carrd linked.
Now, I feel like I have to clarify that this person is very young, and by no means should anyone send hate to them. Even if you disagree with them.
Points that stood out to me were:
I picked up the mentions of being against TommyInnit, c!Tommy stans, and technotwt/sleepytwt. Again, I don't have Twitter and thus have no opinion on these communties.
They also have a private account linked.
The Actual Point
This is where I will get into theorizing territory. Would it be so presumptuous as to assume that the creation of the flag might have something to do with Dream and his friends, given the creator is a Dream stan?
Ignoring how absolutely unhinged I sound right now, let's look at the timing. The unlabeled flag is very new. The oldest use I could find was 2020-ish. Dream also tweeted recently, clarifying his identity as Unlabeled (he hasn't directly said those words, but that is how his fans took it, and I will do the same for the sake of my argument). He has also hinted to being unlabeled in the past, around 2020.
Next, let's look at the color palette of the flag. It's a pale green, white, pale blue, and a pale orange. What are the color palettes of Dream? Green and white. What about the whole Dream Team? George's is blue, and Sapnap's is orange, as far as I know. Green, white, blue, and orange.
Let's look at the DNF flag:
You'll notice the flag is green, white, blue, and red, in that order. You can look at the unlabeled flag at the top of this post for reference, but if you remove the the top darker green and then desaturate the image, they are near identical to each other.
In the original tweet from Dream, he points out that he's mentioning this because of his fans shipping him and George:
What I am proposing is that the creation of the unlabeled flag stemmed from DNF. More specifically, someone's urge to see it come to fruition.
Concluding thoughts and further disclaimers:
The unlabeled flag can be separated from its origin. This is not a post to persuade people to stop using it. This is also not an invitation to argue about the validity of having a flag in the first place. Those who want to use the flag can use it, and those who do not, don't have to.
Do not harass anyone in this post. If you don't agree with their politics, their fandoms, or their cc's, keep it to yourself.
If I have worded something wrong, my research is faulty, or you have information to add, be respectful. Excuse if this is formatted horribly. I've never made a post this long in my life.

Queue!
what is queue.
Queue is the central core feature of tumblr and the main reason why we keep coming back to this website.
It is a long line of posts that you make posts line up for, and then the posts trickle out of the queue slowly on a daily basis, and the more posts you queue, and the less posts you free from the queue each day, the longer your posts are delayed for.
how is it used
Your queue is located at https://www.tumblr.com/blog/[your blog subdomain]/queue and has this at the top (on desktop at least, the mobile app is missing the shuffle function):
Basically, how it works is like this. Find a post. Here's a handy example post:
You're thinking: "Hm, I like this post. But I've already seen a ton of posts like it today and I don't wanna flood people with posts! Hm. What if I queue this post"
Lucky you, you're famous internet blogger Audrey of the joystick system, and for this reason, you've been pathetically wasting all time queueing dozens of posts per day while your blog is set to post ten posts per day from the queue. As such you have around 850 queued posts, and any newly queued post will have to wait many months to be released from the queue. How sad
But how very funny, because we're going to queue this post! So, you click on the reblog icon:
The purple (or whatever color) button says "reblog" but click the teensy arrow next to it.
Now you have options! So, click "add to queue"
Mwahahaha! You now click the add to queue button, and send the post to the queue to await final judgment. When it appears again, if you'd like to send it back to the queue, you can queue it again. And if you'd like to change the queue order randomly, you can shuffle the queue, and then some posts that were at the front of the line will be tossed to the back of the line! Mwahahahahahaha. Etc
All you have to do to stack your queue is choose a number, like, 5, to start with, and then queue more posts than that each day. Eventually, you will end up with a backlog, and it will be fun.
why is it used.
There are many reasons to use queue.
keeping activity! like the instructions say. If you are away from your blog for a bit and have a long queue, your blog will take care of itself
staggering out similar posts! like I said earlier, let's say you've got a lot of memes or art about a specific series to share and you don't want to annoy your followers (you care about your followers for some reason). So you put all that Lucky Star or Madoka fanart in the queue, and it comes out just a little at a time, to prevent dashboard chaos. Or, y'know, it just makes it so you don't feel pressured to post every day!
recycling posts! there's some posts you really might like a lot or think are really important, and so you keep re-queuing them so that they keep resurfacing. This is useful for heritage posts or posts that are like, super essential to your blog essence on tumblr, so you want to make sure your new followers see them, and that they stay remembered and don't just disappear into the void. A queued post is a loved post!
reviving old posts! sometimes a post doesn't get the attention it should right away. on twitter there is no solution to this but to repeatedly retweet the tweet and be ignored more and more each time. But on tumblr, you can use the queue to let the post cook some and give it a chance to be re-appraised in the future, when people didn't just see it just last Tuesday.
sowing chaos! many posts on tumblr are contextually time sensitive. out of touch thursday, pride month, almost christmas means it wasn't christmas, etc. If you queue these posts, they will resurface automatically on a random date when they are not appropriate. This will generate much confusion, and you will laugh beautifully at the results. Also, time is made up anyway
[post by @monsterpotion who made this post (which I queued)]
I hope I've sufficiently explained the queue. Okay bye

Hello love your imagines i wish i can write like i have all these ideas but english isn't my native language and i don't know how to write stories lol i saw you're taking request if its okay can you please write an imagine between tom and y/n where he finds her tumblr posts about him and her imagines and she is so embarrassed about it because she wrote some smut and he might take it as far as writing a tweet about it without mentioning her site & thank you ☺
title; Imagine This
summary; Tom was your best friend, and you loved that. But you also, maybe, had just the smallest crush on him. While you were too scared to let him know, you wrote out your fantasy on a website called Tumblr. Everything was fine just the way it was. That is until Tom finds your Tumblr page.
pairing; Tom Holland x Crushing!Reader
words; 990
warning; mentions of nsfw
note; thank you so much for requesting! i hope you enjoy!
When ‘Far From Home’ was released, the first thing you did after seeing the movie was rushing home to your beloved laptop and searching on Tumblr for Tom Holland fics.
It may have been a little weird, considering you and Tom have been best friends since high school, but you had developed a crush on the brown-eyed boy since. Granted, when he got cast as Spider-Man, you deemed it better to keep your crush a secret. After all, he was a celebrity now. You didn’t want to risk anything.
Nonetheless, you could still imagine he was yours, right?
After the press tour, Tom made his way back home in England. You allowed him a few days to spend with his family and by himself before inviting him over to hang out at your apartment. He happily obliged, having not seen you in months and missing you dearly.
The truth was, Tom has feelings for you as well. He appreciated the realness you offered him from when he first began acting seriously years ago to his sudden fame in the present. To him, you were a beautiful, funny, and genuine person. While he was disappointed that you never showed any signs of feeling the same way about him, he kept your friendship steady.
It was just past noon when Tom came knocking on your apartment door. You were propped up against your bed’s headboard in comfy clothing while proof-reading a one-shot you had written about Tom. When you heard the sound of knocking, you quickly brought your laptop to half-mast and jumped out of bed, excitedly rushing to answer the door.
You smiled brightly as you were met with the familiar face of your best friend. “Tommy!” You hugged him tightly, inhaling his familiar scent of mint and cucumber. “I missed you.” Your voice became softer, closing your eyes and engraving the memory into your mind. Moments like this made it hard for you to not confess your feelings - but at least you had your writing to live out your fantasies.
“I missed you, too, Y/N.” his voice was muffled in your hair. You pulled away before your embrace got awkward and invited him inside.
“Wow, you really cleaned up the place,” Tom looked around, admiring how comfortable your apartment seemed. The last time he was here, you had just moved in, and boxes were sprawled out everywhere. You laughed and nodded. “Yeah, it doesn’t look like a rats nest in here.” The conversation flowed comfortably as you two seated yourself on your couch. You reached for your remote to put on a show to watch together, but Tom grasped your hand before you could.
“Wait,” He said, looking at you intently. “Let’s just, you know, spend some time together. I haven’t seen you in a while. I missed you.” You gaped at him, slowly blinking. Shaking your head and nodding, you agreed. “Yeah, yeah. You’re right.” Tom scooted closer to you, and for a moment, you shared silence. Not uncomfortable, but you didn’t quite understand what it meant.
He was the first to break the silence. “Takeout?” He offered, smiling softly. It was your tradition to eat takeout with one another when you had nothing better to do, or when you had done everything already. “Yeah,” You smiled. “That’d be nice. Go grab my laptop from my bed, would you? We can look at the menu and try something new.”
“Gotcha.” He said, sitting up from the couch and heading to your room, leaving you to your thoughts. You took the time that he was gone to consider professing your love. Maybe him wanting to spend time with you was a sign of some sort of reciprocated feeling on his part. But the worst-case scenario was too grave - losing Tom was nowhere near what you wanted.
Tom, on the other hand, admired your bedroom. It wasn’t the same as when you were a teenager - it was bigger, less colorful, and more mature. Still, little accents you put around made him smile. You made him smile. His eyes landed on your laptop. It was half-mast, so he knew you must have been using it before he came over. He sat on your bed and grabbed the computer, placing it on his lap. He thought he’d make it easier for the two of you and look up the website himself.
What he saw on the screen was unexpected, to say the least. There was a long block of white with writing on it, and he began to read when he noticed it was his name written at the top. His face began to flush as he continued to read, the descriptions of his body and the things he’d do to the girl in the story becoming lewder. As he got to the peak of the story, he pushed the laptop aside.
“Wow,” Tom whispered to himself. He didn’t think much before he walked back out into the living room without your laptop. You looked up at him with a puzzled look on your face, wondering why he came back empty-handed. The realization hit you like a truck as you began to think.
“Oh my god. Did you see?– I swear it wasn’t. I was just–” You cut yourself off, covering your face in embarrassment. You were entirely lost as to how you were meant to come up with an excuse. Tom smirked, sauntering over to your seemingly shrinking figure and leaned down to face you. As you met his eyes, you wondered how he would react.
“I didn’t realize you thought of me like that, Y/N,” He teased, a smirk still on his face. You blushed more. “I’d like to show you how it really works, though.” Your mouth dropped open, your eyes widening. Did he really just say that?
Tom’s fingers landed beneath your chin, lifting your face up to look at him. “Let’s try something new, darling.”

Hey, so question! Read your "Fandom is not radical" post and am kinda waffling between agreeing on most of it while I'm also not sure if the premise is always applicable? Anyway, actual question: How would you fit "the personal is political" into "Fandom is not radical"? (Maybe you will just shrug and say you don't think the personal is political but...) Or do you hold that the personal fandom politics are in general not radical? I'm very interested in hearing you respond.
I actually borrowed the title of that post from Yamin Nair’s essay, Your Sex Is Not Radical, in which she argues that what people do in their bedroom has nothing to do with their politics. You can be a conservative and be trans–I mean, that’s Caitlyn Jenner. Nair writes (emphasis mine):
In many ways, when it comes to sex and sexuality, the Left makes the same mistake over and over again: it imagines that simply having violated the rules of the Conservative Right means that it is now setting about creating a new world order. This has led to the Left’s greatest blind spot in social issues, Gay Marriage, which it fervently supports because it believes, in the most wrong-headed fashion, that the very fact of gays marrying each other is somehow disruptive to, well, something: Capitalism, perhaps, The World Order, the Christian Right. Something.
And:
Should we think about sex at all? Yes, absolutely. Let’s all think and agitate collectively around how sex is deployed against the most vulnerable bodies, like people in prison. Let’s all think long and hard about whether we really want to keep reifying the idea that sex offenders deserve to be raped in prison (and about the oppressive framework of the category of “sex offender” itself). Let’s consider how to create a world where sex work and sex trade can flourish without coercion and demeaning people. By all means, please, let’s not stop having sex, which can be riotous fun, and let’s not stop thinking about sex in all its multiple forms. But stop pretending that sex is anything more than sex.
Your sex is not radical. Your politics can and should be. Consider the difference, and act upon it.
I’m quoting her in such length because she’s both such a gifted writer and says such insightful things. I would encourage folks in fandom to read that essay and read her (and other leftists’ writings) a lot more than we do now.
To your larger point: I think that in theory, yes, the personal can be political, but in practice, that theory has really devastated the left. In the kind of politics that’s practiced in the real world, we have to question what’s effective organizing and what’s just your personal life.
It’s such a conflicting issue for me too. On the one hand, I agree that the personal and the public spheres should not be separated. On the other hand, we politicize so much of our daily interactions (both online and offline) now, that the word politics may well have become meaningless. The distinction now, I think, is with “doing” politics. What does it mean to do politics, as opposed to just calling someone out? Doing politics requires organizing people to work toward a definable goal, a la Fight for 15; calling somebody out is, you know, calling them out.
Doing fandom is not doing politics until it involves organizing. I am skeptical of fandom’s real capacity for that, though, even with what the Harry Potter Alliance does, which is not that much. (I am more sympathetic toward it than many leftists would be, because this can be some young fan’s gateway into politics.) But organizing around a specific fandom is not a good idea, especially since Harry Potter has very questionable politics, as any single media thing would, and because, basically, that is just not how politics work. You only need to look at any successful movements/revolutions in history.
The difference between “fandom is not radical” and “the personal is political” is that fandom is mostly entirely online, where the personal needs not be. Online organizing is another topic I tried to touch on with that original post, in that I am not convinced of its effectiveness either. On The South Lawn, “Frank Little,” a “union organizer in the Midwest,” writes (emphasis mine):
If [online organizers] want to Instagram their lunch (which is likely volunteer pizza or stale donuts) –that’s fine — but they should not be organizing around hashtags, online petitions, or Twitter storms because even successful social media organizing can give organizers a false sense of winning.
In the formative years of organizing, understanding a win is crucial.
I’m an online organizer and one of the first things I tell people is that my work can only bolster the work on the ground. If I make a huge mistake, it could tank it. However, I am not winning campaigns behind a screen. I have made hashtags trend. I’ve made Thunderclaps explode. I have gotten important information on the news by organizing activists to tweet about it. But even some of my most “successful” campaigns have been parts of campaigns the organizations ultimately lost.
We seldom talk about this in the post-mortem. When we lose, field organizers self-flagellate while the digital organizers continue to pat themselves on their backs.
I go to a lot of digital conferences where we talk a lot about “building community.”
“Well, we lost the campaign, but we built a great community.”
Again, I’m quoting so excessively because what they said is so good.
But back to your point. The original promise of “the personal is political”–now a dogma–was to invite people to look into their own lives and their own relationships to find reflections of various oppression. That’s great, but I am more concerned about what this means in practice. How does that translate to action and to real political gain? Currently it translates to calling out microaggressions.
Like Frank Little said, I’m afraid that many Tumblr teens may not know what winning a political battle means, what taking political power means, and may believe whatever they’re doing on this website is already politics.
There is a greater concern too, that we have placed too big an emphasis on culture as a political space (I have an essay in the works about this actually). Is it a political win to have a person of color star in a Hollywood blockbusters? Yes, but not nearly, nearly as meaningful a win as say, if we ever get around to make healthcare universal. More in that post, but this combined with “the personal is political” means that personal consumption choices, what you watch on Netflix, what movie merchandise you purchase, have now become political too. Remember when Buzzfeed told us to buy Ghostbuster merch to be feminist or something? I do. That’s that theory, in practice.
Hope that terrible rambling answers your question lol!

This is the part where I take a post about something really socially important and twist it to fit my extremely niche interests while still being on topic and giving genuine advice to the people affected by it.
Today I'm gonna talk about Mastodon.
(If you’d like a brief rundown by someone with substantially more time and experience with the subject than me, have a look at this document. If you’d like to listen to a five paragraph rambling introduction by yours truly, keep reading.)
If you wanna ditch Twitter, but still need that Twitter fix, Mastodon (https://joinmastodon.org/) is an open source alternative to Twitter. For those who don't know what open source means, in essence, the people who write the code powering the website have chosen to make it public and let anyone read and contribute to it. What that means as far as you, the user, are concerned is two things:
You can see every part of how the website works internally. Every aspect of how the algorithm works, every bit of information they collect and store about you, everything the site does behind the scenes is laid bare in the source code, and you can just go read it if you feel like. This means that if they were tracking you, they'd be forced to admit it. If they intentionally amplified some voices over others, they'd be forced to admit it. Everything they do is public because they've decided to publicize the code that does it. You can actually just go look up the exact sequence of operations that happens when you click the Like button (although unless you're an experienced programmer, don't expect to understand it -- I barely do, and I've been coding since I was 12!)
Since the code running the website is public, this also means that (if you're sufficiently technically inclined) you can download it and run it on your computer. This is called creating a Mastodon "instance", and it effectively gives you a completely independent social network where you have total control over who can sign up, what content is acceptable, what the buttons are labelled, etc. You can set it to invite only, you can ban whoever you want, you can change the banner colors and stuff, you can even tweak the algorithm if you want to (and are okay with getting into the real nitty gritty of the Mastodon code). It's also worth noting that it's completely free to do this, not counting the cost to power the computer you’re running it on, plus paying $10/year or so to a domain registrar for a custom URL. No money moves from you to the Mastodon devs, though. Fun fact! Truth social, Donald Trump's Twitter clone, is, in fact, a heavily customized Mastodon instance.
This second point means that there is no one "Mastodon" that you can sign up for. There are a bunch of Mastodon instances run by a bunch of different people, some public, some private, some really over the top with customization and things to do besides not-tweet, most just using the default theme with maybe a custom signup page. It's exactly like Minecraft servers, except each server has its own list of accounts, and there's no way for Mojang to just be like "lmao you can't play multiplayer anymore". (Still salty about that, by the way. Didn't happen to me but I'm pissed that it can happen at all.) It should be noted, though, that no matter which instance you end up joining, you can follow users on the other ones and send each other messages like it was one big network. There's the "official" instance mastodon.social which is run by the Mastodon devs, but there's also laserdisc.party, fandom.ink, lgbt.io, cheeseburger.social, activism.openworlds.info, hellsite.site... the list goes on. There are some Christian ones, a bunch of furry ones, one dedicated specifically to plural persons, an obscene number of instances with under 50 people, and, yes, TruthSocial.
I feel the need to say a few words about that. Mastodon is an open platform. Anyone can download Mastodon and set up an instance. That's the whole point. It's a means to avoid censorship (or to hang out with a smaller group of people on the Slow Internet™, if that's more your thing). Plenty of people have said this before, and I'm gonna say it too: if you advocate for censorship of anyone, and construct the tools to allow someone's voice to be silenced, sooner or later they'll be used against you. Laugh them out of the room, fine. Create spaces where it's clear they aren't welcome, absolutely. All for it. You can ban them from your Mastodon instance all you want, but you cannot stop them from creating their own. You cannot forcibly shut someone's mouth and deny them access to anti-censorship tools. No matter how wrong they are. No matter how well they know that what they're spewing is bullshit. Because the second you do that, some government somewhere that hates gay people will go "Oh, hmm, that looks interesting. I like denying people the right to speech. This citizen just figured out how to do it, and I'm a government. I have control over internet access in my country. How's bout I make my own thingy where you're not allowed to be people I don't like, and deny access to all the other ones?"
Anyway, rant over. If any of the stuff I mentioned sounds interesting to you, and you'd like to join an instance, head over to joinmastodon.org for an official list of public servers or instances.social for more comprehensive one.
If you’d like to host your own Mastodon instance, first of all, be aware that it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s in many ways like hosting a Minecraft server: setting one up for you and your friends can be done pretty easily, and if you host it on your own PC you can do it for free, but this 1) requires you to leave your PC on 24/7 (or at least whenever you and your friends are using the site), and 2) if you make it public, makes you a prime target for DDoS attacks. Most people opt to pay for a VPS, which is basically a 24/7-online computer in the cloud that you can run whatever you want on. It costs about the same as a Minecraft server per month, maybe a little more depending on who you get it from. For detailed instructions go to https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/run-your-own/ and prepare to get your hands dirty. Also, this should go without saying, but if you host a public instance, much like a Discord server, you’re going to have to hire a mod team.
That's all for now. Tune in next time when I go on a five-paragraph rant-slash-infodump about MatrixChat next time somebody mentions Whatsapp.
This is important and it’s about Twitter:
There’s a whole tribe of famous liberals out here going on about “not giving up” or “not losing ground” and they talk about “fighting” and so on.
That’s all bullshit. It’s utter bullshit.
Elon Musk does not want Twitter. He joked about it. They called his bluff. He entered the discussion then he said he didn’t want it. They said “well now you’re in breech. You either pay what you said or 10 billion in fines”. He opted for the purchase, but to fund it had to go to the Saudis to financially back it. He’s leveraged, in other words. He’s playing with other people’s money.
Musk is a sociopath, a racist, a sexist, and a billionaire which is itself unethical. He is not “tricking” liberals into leaving and then using Twitter to promote right wing policies. He won’t have anyone to peddle them to, if you leave. He is not a good person. He does not care about greater good. He doesn’t even care about politics. He cares about himself. He has an ego a mile wide and the narcissistic delivery mechanism to boot. The only way to hurt him, is to hit him in the wallet and make him eat the consequences of his words. He’s already reinstated Kanye. He will reinstate Trump.
Leaving Twitter is the only truly right thing to do. If you see someone talking about staying, I assure you, they are just justifying not wanting to lose their influence or follower count. It’s disgusting. It’s transparent. It’s selfish and has nothing to do with the greater cause.
BURN TWITTER DOWN
If you want to hurt Elon Musk, you burn Twitter to the ground and restart elsewhere. It’s that fucking simple. It’s the only thing that will matter to him. It’s the only thing that will hurt.
Destroy Twitter. Delete your accounts. Cost Musk billions.

Kim Kardashian Has A Special Playroom For Her Kids So They Don't Ruin Her 'White Furniture'!
I look younger now than when I was in my early 20s
Life is good when your mom is Kim Kardashian!
On Wednesday, the KUWTK star wrote a blog post on her website where she reveals that her kids -- North, Saint, and Chicago West -- have a special room in their $20 million Hidden Hills house where they can "run wild."
Related: Kim & Kourtney Kardashian Take Disneyland!
The 37-year-old explained:
"Our home decor taste tends to be minimal and modern but the kids' playroom is the one room in the house where I let them run wild."
In the playroom, the kids are allowed to express their creativity WITHOUT ruining mommy and daddy's expensive "white furniture"!
"That's where all the markers, paints and colors are... By the time they're done there, they have no desire to take a pen to our white furniture, lol!"
In late April, fans got a rare glimpse inside Kimye's house when Kanye West tweeted pics to prove he is NOT in "The Sunken Place." As seen here:

In a tongue-in-cheek response, Kim revealed KUWTK is NOT allowed to shoot in her mansion!
Ummm babe. We had a rule to not show our home on social media! Soooo can we now allow KUWTK filming in the home? 🤔😂 https://t.co/bUMAn29K5K — Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) April 25, 2018

How and when to add alt text on images!
So I'm simply a seeing person who doesn't know how to use a Screenreader so if any of you want to elaborate on the experience of posts listening to posts using alt text please do! I can only speak on adding alt text.
The following will be some screenshots of me creating this post, i won't describe them in alt text as the description necessary to follow this post will be in the explanations anyway.
Ok so here you see me adding the first image on this post, in the bottom right corner, where I drew the arrow pointing at it, you can see the three blue dots, this is where you add alt text. I have taken the screenshot after already adding the alt text which is why the dots are blue, before alt text is added they are white. Below the image I have written in square brackets that the image is described in alt text, this is mostly for seeing people who might add image descriptions if they don't know that the image is already described, but to me it also serves to signify the end of the image description, which is why that's always the first text i put under the images.
So this is a screenshot of the alt text i first added to describe this first image (it's now different because i decided to add some more pictures) it says Alt-Text on top and then the explanation of what alt text is, which i will give u the Google translate version of because my tumblr is german: "A description of this image will make your entry more accessible to screen reader users." Below my description of the photo you can see a blue line and then two numbers 173/200. This means I have used 173 out of 200 letters/signs to describe this image. This is basically like a tweet. This is the limitation of tumblr alt text descriptions.
So alt text is basically useless when describing images with lots of text or complicated art BUT it's a really good option for simple aesthetic posts like this.
For aes posts like this you could add a description for each image like I did for this post, as there is something happening in the pictures, or you can just put a simple description of the set on the first few images like i did for a photo set of a forest. Just saying like "a set of x amount of images on which u can see y it is kept in z colors" or whatever else is relevant. Keep it simple, image descriptions aren't art. It might also be good to have one short line visible on the post itself so people who have trouble with processing what's on images have an easier time, i said here visit to a wild park because that gives a bit of context for the photos.
For images with a lot of text, I'd recommend just copying the text. You can do that via Google Lense if the website doesn't let you copy text or if you only have a photo of a book.
It works like this:
Paste: Hi, Lam handwritten text on a lined paper
It's not perfect it made my i into an L but it's pretty good despite my handwriting at times slipping into being cursive! U just click the Google Lense icon then select text and then u can just copy and paste it! Simple right? Also makes it more legible for all people!
When you're reposting something from twitter you should absolutely just paste the tweet(s) you want to feature into the post and then link them by saying like by @ whoever on twitter. And putting the link to the tweet(s) there. That's not only good for users of screen readers but also just people like me and probably honestly everyone else, who just hate reading text on screenshots. Just isn't a good experience.
I think that's all i have to say? If i missed anything let me know!
Wildpark Besuch
#image descriptions#i don't usually describe anything on this blog because this is just for me#but when I post my own things I do because they will be reblogged maybe to other blogs and then they're there being accessible
