2 Cool Home Interiors With Art That Pops On Concrete
If you’d like to showcase some art around your home but are not quite sure what pieces will work, or how best to display them, then you’ve come to the right place. These two modern home interiors use cool concrete decor as a backdrop for vibrant wall art. We’re not sure whether the art has inspired the colour palette for the rooms, or if decor influenced art choice, but either way works. Colours in the art and the room work hand in hand to create rich and vibrant spaces that are a joy to be in. The art is eye-catching, but so is the contemporary furniture, unique lighting and modern feature walls.
Visualizer: Daria Alieva Green and red are the key colours in this living room’s soft furnishings, and in the striking contemporary wall art hung on columns of concrete.
A contrasting purple wall opposite the sofa makes the room look young and fresh. A couple of black ornaments and accessories around the room tie in with dark notes in the art pieces. A black Atollo lamp stands out on a white side table by the sofa. Cheaper replicas are available on Ebay.
Copper dining room pendant lights are suspended in a line of three along the dining table behind the sofa. The copper tones complement the red accents in the art. Two red dining chairs bring the hue to the head and foot of the table. A plant stand grows some greenery in the corner by the window.
A trio of bright red kitchen bar stools line up along a blue island in the open plan. They are the Hay Hee bar chair.
Heavy grey window drapes tone with the raw concrete walls.
The clear perspex dining table allows natural light from the dual aspect windows to pass straight through it.
We find more colourful modern art inside the master bedroom, positioned in pride of place over the headboard. A red stemmed bedside table lamp illuminates one side of the bed, whilst a matching bedroom hanging light serves the other.
There is also a matching floor lamp in the set, which has been teamed with a blue accent chair here.
The bed throw is a tan shade to match the coloured concrete feature wall. The warm neutral hue works to calm the clash of red and blue accent pieces.
A red side table joins the blue bedroom chair and modern floor lamp to fashion a chic little resting spot.
The bed is upholstered in a youthful monochrome fabric, which whilst bold does not fight for attention with the colourful wall art.
Designer: Studio e Visualizer: Peter Janov Our other living room showcases art with a retro look, though the furniture choices are very much up to date. A swing arm wall lamp is poised to illuminate the art on the concrete wall at nightfall, and to shed light over a modern sofa. Panoramic windows bathe the entire open plan lounge/kitchen/diner in natural light during daytime hours. A large grey rug softly defines the lounge area from the rest of the multi-use layout.
An Oda style lamp stands at a black slatted feature wall. Originals are available here. A two tone media unit matches with the grey concrete wall, and with a white marble hearth that runs beneath it.
The heavy black walls and block style coffee table are balanced out with a sweet light pink accent colour, which appears in a section of the sofa and on some of the dining chairs.
A small black side table serves the sofa.
Above the dining table hangs a sprawling black modern chandelier, which is the Ingo spider chandelier. A wood dining table is surrounded by beige and pink examples of the Kartell Masters chair.
The open plan room is completed by a black one wall kitchen with a metallic island. The black kitchen walls can be used as a chalkboard for notes or personal art. A mirror finish integrated appliance shines at the centre of the matt black kitchen larder units.
In the master bedroom, a black slatted door is installed at either side of a soft grey modern bed. The pocket doors slide away inside the headboard wall to reveal a closet to the right and an ensuite bathroom on the left. Multicoloured wall art injects brave personality into the monochrome scheme.
Pink bedside units with black tray tops peep out from either side of the bed; unusual bedroom pendant lights shed light over each one. The walk-in closet behind the bed is decked out with a number of wooden shelving cubbies, on the wall for lesser used garments, and on the floor for a collection of shoes. Black chests of drawers line up beneath a generous run of garment rails.
The ensuite bathroom on the other side has concrete wall decor behind a wooden vanity with a concrete basin. The toilet is wall hung and accompanied by a wall mounted toilet brush, which keep the small room feeling open and spacious. Light marble tiles clad a shower enclosure with a clerestory window.
Pink accents make a comeback in the kid’s room, on bedcovers and a cute kid’s chair. The wall mounted tv and a house shaped chalkboard brings the black base notes into the kids decor. A small grey stool stands by the kid’s novelty chalkboard to provide a comfy place to sit whilst doodling away.
Bright art sings solo in a concrete hallway.

White Minimalism: 3 Examples That Show How To Get It Right
The minimalist aesthetic is an amalgamation of clean lines and simplistic layouts, and this recipe lends itself perfectly to a light and fresh white decor finish. The initial idea of creating a simple white interior design sounds like a simple one – however it can be tricky to get the balance just right. How do you fashion a stylish space with minimal items? How do you avoid a chilly atmosphere in the absence of colour? Stick with us as we walk you through three white minimalist home tours that nail the look; see how to use texture, shape, careful curation and bespoke storage solutions to succeed in a high end minimalist makeover.
Visualizer: Z Design Our first of three home tours begins in a minimalist living room, which is furnished with two white sofas and an open plan kitchen in one corner. The white on white kitchen installation is mostly set into a wall of full height cabinets, with the exception of a dining peninsula that serves three seats along an overhang. The walls in the room are devoid of decoration or art, however they are painted with light to create a welcoming glow.
The only colour in the room comes from a small library, which only half fills a set of display shelves to maintain the pared back effect. Plain white blinds dress large windows.
Despite the all white colour scheme in the galley kitchen, the integrated appliances have been selected in a black colourway. The black notes provide a bite of interest and add weight to the look.
A trio of unique kitchen pendant lights descend over the three kitchen bar stools, with a coordinated white coating.
Beyond the living room, a white bedroom scheme is a calm and restful place.
A black bed throw provides a visual anchor in this light room.
Despite the cool white palette, this still looks a cozy bedroom thanks to casually stacked reading material on and under rounded bedside tables.
The master bedroom layout also includes an open plan ensuite shower room. A square toilet and bidet provide a high end look in the plain scheme. Black fixtures and fittings bring it bang on trend.
Decayed pattern decorates the wall behind a modern sofa in our second minimalist home tour. A small section like this adds just the right amount of interest in a simplified scheme.
A black modern wall sconce punctuates the white feature wall.
White tv wall decor has been textured with sections of slatted wall. The wall mounted media console unit is finished in a very light wood effect. The same pale wood tone is repeated as a flat wall panel behind an adjacent desk to softly define the work area.
The living room runs into an open plan white kitchen. The floating tv unit is chamfered at this end to create a smooth flow between the two spaces, as well as a stylish feature. A black modern chandelier marks the transition between the two areas of use, over a dining peninsula.
Open kitchen shelving and some wall units bring areas of light wood grain into this end of the room too.
Another patterned feature wall appears inside the modern bedroom in this home, this time across a headboard wall.
A floating side table serves each side of the bed, finished in wood effect.
The wood grain continues over a modern bathroom vanity in the ensuite.
Wood panelling covers the side of the bathtub in the main bathroom, and continues around the perimeter to join with a vanity area.
Bespoke bathroom furniture is flush fitted for a seamless flowing look.
Pale grey-blue tiles mark out the shower zone.
The kid’s room decor incorporates gentle blue and biscuit tones. Generous amounts of storage is hidden away in bespoke closets and cabinets to keep the room clear of mismatched bulky toys.
Geometric pattern finds its way into the scheme through a cosy area rug and a painted bedroom feature wall.
The hallway is kept free from the clutter of coats, shoes and bags by installing plentiful storage options.
Visualizer: D3 Design Our last minimalist home tour brings us to this cosy space, with a warm lighting scheme and wood laminate flooring.
Despite the overall emptiness of the room, the perimeter lighting and the glow from unique floor lamps make this a welcoming room.
One of two white side tables holds a clear glass fruit bowl. There is no additional ornamentation in this simplistic relaxation space; the upholstered taupe sofa is the hero of the piece.
Around the corner stands a kitchen with an island. A formal dining area is made up of six white modern dining chairs around a white dining table by the window.
Black and grey tones dress the windows in this home, in stark contrast to the rest of the light decor.
The white kitchen island is equipped with a compact tubular cooker hood to keep the look crisp and free from unnecessary ornamentation.
A glass room divider has been fitted with window blinds to conceal the busy appliance side of the kitchen from view of the dining area and the home entryway.
The kitchen island oversees the hallway.
Soft LED lighting glows along the kitchen backsplash.
The wooden staircase design appears as if boxed into a neat nook.
Upstairs, the master bedroom scheme uses a larger amount of deep grey tones to match an industrial chic concrete feature wall. Warming woodtone engulfs an open plan closet.
The industrial vibe continues inside the master bedroom.
A concrete floor runs seamlessly through, creating one complete wet zone with the shower floor.
A white countertop cuts across the double sink bathroom vanity, with bright lighting around twin mirrors to counterbalance the dark decor.

Art Lover’s Red Blue and Green Home Decor Scheme
A striking vision of rich colour, this 80 square metre modern apartment interior was designed by ATO Studio. Located in Moscow, Russian Federation Area, the home has a seriously arty air throughout. The lounge holds two modern paintings in colours that seem to have been the muse for this decor scheme – both in palette and cubist nature. Unusual contemporary furniture design, bespoke shelving units, wall and ceiling paint colours and tiling are a clashing concoction of solid bold green, deep blue and muted reds that transition from rich russet tones all the way through to the brink of pink. White spaces and wood tone balance the colourful scene.
Visualizer: Kirill Vill A gallery wall remains white in the living room, where two pieces of inspirational art is displayed within wainscot style framing. Another two walls are painted solid sage green, whilst a third and the floor are muted russet-brown. The darker colours in the room eat up the natural light coming from a large window but a white ceiling helps to lift the scheme.
The colours in the paintings are not the only part of the artwork to be replicated within the decor. The angular shapes can be seen echoed in the shape of two contemporary accent chairs that have been upholstered in light grey as a break from the rooms deep colour palette. Circular shapes have also been brought out of the paintings, translated into a round coffee table and a rug motif.
A single green cushion brightens the look of deep blue sofa upholstery. The legs of the dark sofa are a light beechwood to contrast. A neat circular side table matches the ruddy tones of the floor and window wall.
A minimalist style floor lamp stands beside the accent chairs and a cushioned window seat.
The windows are finished with simple white venetian blinds.
Beneath the television, the TV console unit is a bespoke design in a colourway that matches the style of the room and artwork perfectly. The cabinet doors are alternating hues of blue, black and russet with disguised geometric handles. A blue Tam-Tam side table matches the circular blue speakers of a sound system on top of the console unit.
The TV set itself is contained within a slender frame that holds narrow panes of glass around its sides. No decorative items have been placed on its glass surfaces – these are reserved for the bespoke shelving units that flank the doorway between the living area and the hallway.
A small selection of books and a blue elephant figurine occupy one of the double sided display spots.
The mix and match colour story continues in the dining area and adjoining kitchen.
The bespoke shelving units hold a selection of decorative ceramics which suit the proximity to the dining room. The ruddy brown framing of the display and storage units are echoed out in the hall, in the framework of closet doors.
The dining table is an unusual black and green design.
The kitchen that stands behind the dining suite holds a combination of green and grey cabinets and a pale red backsplash.
A large modern chandelier with glass shades is suspended over the dining table. A similar chandelier can be found here.
The table centrepiece is small and simple. In a interior design as colourful as this, not a lot of extra adornment is needed.
Modern dining chairs have dark blue upholstery over light beechwood frames.
Kitchen gadgetry is all of a vivid lime green colourway.
The kitchen sink is smoothly integrated into the workbench, completed with a modern nickel faucet.
The items on display in the living room can be viewed from the opposite side in the hallway.
A cushioned bench seat has been incorporated into the design of the display units located by the entry door.
The hallway floor has a crackle design.
In the master bedroom, a striking red bed is matched by a red acrylic chair and radiator. A pair of gold wall sconces cast light over rose coloured side tables.
The headboard wall is decorated with green frond print wallpaper, matching a green painted bedroom floor.
A blue area rug contrasts with the tomato red bed.
The red tinted acrylic dressing chair sits at a shallow table in front of a large round mirror.
In a home study area, a black and red desk chair matches a dark wood and red framed work desk.
A red frame runs around the edge of the headboard feature wall.
An ensuite bathroom holds a blue vanity unit.
The blue vanity unit is mounted onto a wall of white and pink tiles.
Matching tiling surrounds the bathtub and over bath shower.
A mirrored wall cabinet completes the vanity area.
Above the bathroom tiling, walls are dark green to deepen the scheme. The green upper wall is matched by recessed green cubby shelves by the toilet and inside the shower enclosure. The shelves are lit from within by LED strip lights.
The wardrobe doors of a kids’ room are painted in chalkboard paint to give the little ones a place to artistically express themselves. The floor around a set of red bunkbeds has been quirkily divided into three sections: one wood, one pink painted wood, and one smooth green section by the desk.
The double workspace spans the windows for good daytime reading light. A pink wall shelf displays a selection of photographs and plants.
In the kids’ ensuite bathroom, a red vanity unit contrasts with bottle green wall tiles.
A deep blue ceiling caps the scheme.
