#A gg1 runnint again is a really sad ironic joke

Man I’m getting weirdly into my Muricaverse roleswapped McCoy/Belle as a pairing. Momma/Poppa as the high maintenance celebrity choo choo running excursions, Belle turned into a (miraculously running again for laughs) GG1 electric engine of similar age and the two have a flirtatious light rivalry because they have similar roles but surprisingly little historic beef (PRR just stopped ordering steam engines vs axing them when they electrified). They would turn Light At The End Of The Tunnel back into a duet where McCoy praises steam and Belle finishes the line making it about…. power plants, which are also often steam LOL

People talk about turning coaches into engines but imo this one is REALLY fun. Belle is…. honestly a passable enough name for any engine in the US because they all have bells. But more notably, GG1s work out great time/place/personality wise with being based on Ella Fitzgerald (both began in late 30s NYC and were described as “effortless”) and the GG1s ran until they were absolutely decrepit in the early 80s and saw the rise and fall of American electrification. A real fallen star in a way (though GG1s were notably beloved until the very end, just SO worn out and old). Though this Belle would be in Momma/Poppa’s place of winning her heat and then basically dying (perfectly aligns with a GG1 blowing its transformer at the end of its last excursion irl in 1984).
