Coruscant Guard headcanons-ish (mostly focusing on Hound):
There aren’t just massiffs
Coruscant has a lot of smuggling, including animals. Not only that but the Senators give them their pets to take care of (that is not a pet but a wild animal wtf)
But they end up with an assortment of baby animals that CAN be domesticated and do something with them
Quinlan started it when he handed a baby Nexu to Fox and said they were trainable and loyal. Fox passed this on to Hohnd and nugget was a part of the family since
Ever since then they got two more Nexu, both sticking with new shinies under Hounds command
Surprisingly they have one Narglatch, though Blizzard (dubbed by Stone) is rarely used. Often used for chases in the lower levels, able to chase and weave easier through crowds than a speeder (think Horses in police forces)
At one point, some 501st and 212th troopers found what they thought to be a massiff and happily dropped it with the Guard,
It was not a massiff and Hound broke many laws to get it to the Jedi temple and out of his hands fast
See they had found an Albek, a force sensitive creature that looks like a massif but is VERY aggressive and BERY untrainable, last Hound heard was that it was set free and is very happy
Another of the larger creatures that is used far more often than the narglatch is the Varactyl
Somehow a shipment of young had been smuggled onto Coruscant and were taken in by the Guard
Their ability to climb vertical surfaces and calm nature and silliness to listen to their rider made them perfect in the club districts; the tall buildings were close enough to jump between and had many platforms for people to walk and dance
They could weave above crowds and act almost like helicopters when chasing criminals, but we’re able to go into the crowds; only problem is that people had to get out of the way or be trampled
Hound and his infinite luck ran across a hurt Rancor with a shiny one night. Though they could not take the Rancor in, they sent it to the Jedi temple where it receives lots of love and treats from the younglings and troopers who visit
The Rancor serves as a guardian of the wing dedicated to dangerous artifacts and texts, and is watched over by the Temple Guard
AND AND AND
Spark dragons
ARF troopers ride them but due to fear, they are used to guard the prisons. Occasionally, they are lent out to other battalions with their riders
They are dragons native to Kiffu and can easily get their charge from the static electricity created by genorators
They were found as young babies and trained by the ARF
Quinlan was absolutely ecstatic and adores them, they’ve made a special attachment with him but prefer their troopers
On one occasion two were sent out with the Marine Corps, who were afraid as hell. Those troopers had a lovely time and many stores of scaring the ‘hardcore’ troopers

Book recs: post- and transhumanism
AKA: cyborgs, uploaded minds, and humans otherwise altered by technology.
I have previously written a rec list for books featuring robots and artificial intelligences, but ended up excluding various titles for not quite fitting the theme. Hence, this list, which focuses more on the step from human into something else, commonly with themes of what it means to be human.
Tumblr media
Previous book rec posts:
Really cool fantasy worldbuilding, really cool sci-fi worldbuilding, dark sapphic romances, mermaid books, vampire books, portal fantasies, robots and artificial intelligences
For more details on the books, continue under the readmore. Titles marked with an * are my personal favorites. And as always, feel free to share your own recs in the notes!

The Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi*
Place this one in the category of ‘accept that you’re gonna be confused as hell and just let the world wash over you’. The singularity has come and gone and humans can now easily upload, download and copy themselves into new bodies, not all of them human and not always willingly. Consciousnesses and time has become something close to currency. Follows a murder mystery on Mars.
The Scorpion Rules (Prisoners of Peace duology) by Erin Bow*
Young Adult. Featuring a dystopian future in which an AI forcibly keeps world peace by holding the children of world leaders hostage. If anyone attempts to start a war, their child will be executed. Greta is one of these children, kept in a school with others like her. But things start to change one day when a new, less obedient hostage arrives. A unique, slowburn take on the YA dystopian craze, also featuring a bisexual love triangle.
The Adoration of Jenna Fox (Jenna Fox Chronicles) by Mary E. Pearson
Young Adult set in a near future. Jenna wakes from a year long coma after an accident, and something is wrong. Is this really her life? Are her memories her own? Exactly what happened a year ago, and what did her parents do to get her back?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky*
Millenia and generation spanning scifi. After the collapse of an empire, a planet once part of a project to uplift other species to sentience is left to develop on its own, resulting not in the intelligent monkeys once intended but in sentient giant spiders. Millenia later, what remains of humanity arrives looking for a new home, only to be met by the artificial remains of the ancient woman who once led the uplift project - and she is not willing to let them on her planet.
War Girls by Tochi Onyebuchi*
In an enviromentally fraught future, the Nigerian civil war has flared back up, utilizing cybernetics and mechs to enhance its soldiers. Two sisters, by bond if not by blood, are separated and end up on differing sides of the struggle. Brutal and dark, with themes of dehumanization of soldiers through cybernetics that turn them into weapons, and the effect and trauma this has on them.
The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey
1969 classic. Features a future in which children born too weak to survive are put into and raised in mechanical bodies. Helva, one of these children, grows up to be put in charge of her own space ship, from which she works to fulfill various missions out in space, missions which she quickly comes to learn are much more dangerous than she could've imagined.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles) Marissa Meyer*
Young Adult fairy tale retelling. Cinder, a cyborg with a mysterious past she can't remember, lives with her stepmother and two stepsisters in New Beijing as a deadly plague ravages the world and a race of Lunar people threaten war against the entire planet. As Cinder becomes entwined with the young prince Kai, she is pulled more and more into dangerous politics that see her as less than human due to her cybernetics, yet need her to save them.
House of Suns by Alastair Reynolds
Six million years in the future, humanity has spread across the entire Milky Way galaxy. Purslane and Campion are both clones of the same woman, sent into the galaxy millions of years ago to explore along with almost a thousand clones like them. Every 200 000 years they all meet to compare memories and experiences. But this time Purslane and Campion arrive late - and discover that a secret millions of years in the making has lead to an extinction level attack against their kind. Now they must find out the truth before their line is completely wiped out. Absolutely wild world-building, featuring various kinds of posthumans (among which the clones are, shockingly, the most similar to people of our time).
Nexus (Nexus trilogy) by Ramez Naam
In a near future, a nano-drug is developed that can link human minds together, having the potential to change humanity forever. As different factions fight over it - some wanting to control it, other to eradicate it, and many to exploit it - a scientist who's caught improving the drug is thrust into a world of danger and international espionage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Skinned (Cold Awakening trilogy) by Robin Wasserman
Young Adult. Rich girl Lia Kahn had the perfect life - until she died and was brought back by having her memories downloaded into a mechanical body. Despite having her life back, Lia also finds her life changed, as people fear her and treat her differently. Worse; she herself isn't sure if she's still really Lia, or whether she's even a person at all anymore.
Blindsight (Firefall duology)by Peter Watts*
Vampires and aliens and questions of the nature of consciousnesses, oh my. A ship is sent to investigate the sudden appearance of an alien vessel at the edge of the solar system, but the crew, a group of various level of transhumanism, isn't prepared for the horrors awaiting them. No, seriously, this book will fuck you up, highly recommend if you’re okay with a lot of techno babble and existential horror.
Mortal Enginges (Mortal Engines quartet) by Philip Reeve*
Young Adult. On a barely survivable Earth humanity has taken to living on great wandering cities, hunting each other across the plains for resources. Tom lives in London, but when he intervenes to stop a murder, he falls off the city alongside a strange and hostile girl on the hunt for revenge. Together they set out to catch up to the city, but are chased by a murderous machine like being set on stopping them. Trans/posthumanism isn't the main theme of the book, but it continues to grow in importance throughout the series.
Bonus AKA I haven't read these yet but they seem really cool

Meru by S.B. Divya
A human and a posthuman, called an alloy, venture together into space to explore a newly discovered, earth-like planet, testing the future of the relationship between their peoples on the way.
WE by John Dickinson
Humanity has become a hive mind, constantly connected. When Paul is sent on a one-way mission to a frozen moon, he must disconnect from the rest of humanity, for the first time seeing what it has truly become.
Accelerando by Charles Stross
In a time in which the artificial and the posthuman is more and more outpacing the human, something strange enters the solar system and starts dismantling its planets.
Honorary mentions AKA these didn't really work for me but maybe you guys will like them: We Are Legion (We Are Bob) by Dennis E. Taylor, Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom by Cory Doctorow

My romantic relationships for each of my kins:
- The Lamb (Cult of the Lamb): None in canon, was aroace (and also a child), but when Unholy Alliances came out in this life, I found myself becoming drawn to the Goat.
- Blitz (Helluva Boss): Was promiscuous for a while before I eventually realised how much I liked Stolas and valued what we had.
- Angel Dust (Hazbin Hotel): Kind of flirted with everybody, but I did eventually have a genuine interest in Husk.
- Zestial (Hazbin Hotel): None, didn't really have too big attachments to anyone.
- Caine (The Amazing Digital Circus): None, I wasn't programmed with the ability to fall in love or anything.
- Scrimshaw (Billie Bust Up): Promiscuous but mostly messed around with Percy. He had genuine feelings for me and I didn't exactly reciprocate them, but I still had fun with him.
- Rambley The Raccoon (Indigo Park): None, I was just meant to be a helpful and hyper interactive AI tour guide.
- Taka (Mufasa: The Lion King): Sarabi was my only genuine crush and I miss her a lot at times. I also sort of had feelings for Kiros when I joined him, but it was more like a desperate desire for attention and acceptance after I felt like I wasn't getting any. And in this life, I have off and on feelings for Mufasa.
- Mathis (Fallout universe; ockin, Enclave member): I swear there was one other soldier (Both male) that I was close to and had feelings for, but I'm pretty sure he died in the events of Fallout 2.
- Simon Smoke (Nightmare Critters): May or may not have had a crush on Poe, I still can't remember. Also, Allister was my best friend with benefits.
- Withered Bonnie (Five Nights At Freddy's 2): None. I have very little memories about this canon and can only remember feeling hurt.
- Tails (Sonic the Hedgehog series): None that I can remember.
- Sunrise (Sun and Moon Show): Initially had Stockholm Syndrome feelings for Moon early on in our relationship when he was still messed up and it became a genuine loving relationship that lasted 2 or 3 years and counting.
- Killcode (Sun and Moon Show): Bloodmoon was very unhealthily attached to me and codependent on me and I loved them so much as my sons, but I'm not really sure what our relationship *was.*
- Foxy (Monty and Foxy Show/Eclipse and Puppet Show): Used to have a small crush on Glamrock Mangle, that didn't go over well. Then eventually developed a crush on Puppet and we eventually became a serious thing.
- Ruin (Sun and Moon Show): In my canon, I was aroace and wasn't interested in anyone, but I did flirt with everyone just because I found it fun.
- Castor (Lunar and Earth Show): Me and Pollux have been romantically involved for as long as either of us can remember. When the planet Earth was formed and we eventually had to start going there, we picked up some earthling romantic customs like cuddling and kissing. Also, we didn't really view ourselves as "incestuous" because that was a very earthling concept and meant literally nothing to us.
- New Moon/Nexus (Sun and Moon Show): Shortly after I came into existence, I dated Sun for a little bit because I took the place of his Moon, but I never really liked him and we lasted about a month. Then, I got feelings for Solar and we started dating. That was my only real relationship. Then when I became Nexus, I sort of dated Dark Sun. Or rather, he let me believe we were dating and fed into my extreme emotional dependency to keep me on his side.
- Frank (Monty and Foxy Show/Eclipse and Puppet Show): None that I can remember.
- Space (Sun and Moon Show Swap AU): Dated Roxy for years and eventually got engaged. Also, Moon had feelings for me, but I never knew.
- Moonlight (Eclipse and Puppet Show): I had feelings for my Sun, but he didn't reciprocate.
- Glamrock Ballora (Eclipse and Puppet Show): Me and Mona had mutual crushes on each other and eventually started dating.
- Eclipse (Moon and Sun Minecraft): I was really into Moon and stalked him and did a mix of flirting with and threatening him. He did not reciprocate.
- Charlie Emily (Eclipse and Puppet Show): Sometimes I want Eclipse in a romantic way, but I think that's feelings I developed in this life. In canon, me and Andrew had crushes on each other, but I don't think the other ever found out so it didn't go anywhere.
- Monty Gator: Wasn't really serious with anyone until I met Earth. Eventually got engaged to her.
- Sunny (Femme Nights at Freddy's): Thought I was straight until I developed a huge crush on Moonie and we also dated for a long time.
- Lord Eclipse (Sun and Moon Show): No genuine relationships, but I used my Sun for sexual relief quite frequently.
