“Hey, MARIKO!” a boisterous greeting came out of the large Saiyan as he stood in his usual spot --well what was his usual spot-- for training patrollers. “Been a long time since I’ve seen you around here.” Instead of waiting for her to approach, Nappa took initiative and came up to her. “Almost didn’t recognize you because your hair’s longer. But I don’t see other Saiyans wearing the same color of armor as you.”

Nappa raised his hand to plant a heavy pat on her shoulder and grinned down at one of his favorite students. “You’re looking stronger now too. Hope you’re not too strong to get one-on-one training with ol’ Nappa anymore.”

For a moment his student earned a confused blink before a confident grin spread across his face, and he guffawed. “You thought I meant that as a bad thing?” He shouldn’t laugh at her concern and effort to assure him that he was a decent person. However, she was wrong about how he “earned” his place being a mentor here in Conton. “If I had repented for my sins, I wouldn’t be here. When you repent in Hell, your soul gets cleansed and reincarnated into a new person. You don’t remember who you used to be. Tch, there’s no way I’d let them do that to me! I don’t care if Yemma thinks it’s bad to kill people and conquer their planets. I’m a Saiyan warrior! It’s what I was bred to do! It’s what our people have always done! Even before Frieza’s family came around to make us work for them.”

“It’s just weird hearing people call me a villain and seeing them avoid me as a mentor for it. It’s stupid. What? Do they get mad at predators for hunting down weaker animals to eat too?”

“As for being called a monster, heh, I take that as a compliment from lesser beings.”

Nappa sighed in huffy way when Mariko opened her door and it was apparent that she was plagued with a cold. “Poharu told me you were sick. What lousy timing, I’m gonna be leaving soon and of course you do something to screw up your health before I gotta go.”

He seems to be carrying some items along with him. Food related kind of things. And a pot he borrowed from Poharu. “Today, you being sick ain’t gonna keep you from learning a few things before I’m gone for a few days. And I want you well by the time I come back, okay?”

Nappa hadn’t been back in Conton for very long, and in a rush to come find Mariko and her party, the elder Saiyan appeared before her and the other guests with a smile on his face and his halo still hovering over his head. 

“Hey, you’re lookin’ a lot better!” he stated cheerfully while approaching the teenage hostess. “Good. I know how important this party was for you this year.”

“I brought the presents I got for you guys with me, but I don’t know if any of you want to open them tonight or take ‘em home and put them under a tree. Or whatever it is you do with them till you’re ready to open them.” The grinning Saiyan elder then reached into his briefs’ pocket and pulled out a storage capsule.

“How about being here instead of where I should be, which is dead and in Hell?” The older Saiyan answered the question with another, and an amused chuckle. After taking a sip of his own coffee, he added another reason why he’d be so kind to bring over a cup for Vegeta. “And because it’s Christmas. Or close enough to it for Chronoa to be alright with me visiting. Not sure why she’s okay with it, but people are more generous about things this time of year. Guess that’s my present for being a good mentor in Conton City.”

“I never mentor-hopped, we had a fucking deal on this! Tsk! Go back to frenchin’ your French girlfriend or whatever.”

Recalling that wonderfully romantic and SCANDALOUS event only caused Nappa to grin and instantly calm down. 

Poharu’s so powerful, even the memory of her kissing him is enough to reign in that infamous temper of his.

“Hehe heh heh...you say that like it’s a bad thing.”

"Nappa! Dappa! Is it true that when you transform into a Great Ape, you can get stuck mid-transformation and have Oozaru arms for the rest of your life?!"

“I’ve never heard of that happening. Sounds like someone’s trying to scare you and it worked.”

Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?

{Character Development Questions: Hard Mode || Open and Accepting!}

I haven’t written him having nightmares much either in RPs here, the past, or in my fics. But if I were to, the themes would tie to inadequacy, failure to do something important that could have lead to a better outcome etc. Basically things he keeps himself too preoccupied in his conscious moments to dwell on.

His personal Hell/the effect Hell had on his mind (in his Hell verse) forced him to constantly remember things he didn’t want to think about while living. Making him question himself and how he viewed his life, but not in the ways they would have wanted him to. The purpose of his suffering in Hell was to make him want to repent and accept reincarnation to become someone else. Someone morally “better.” However, Nappa doesn’t want to forget himself. Even when forced to think about all his mistakes, he’d still believe he’s not evil or deserving to be in Hell. So he outright refuses to move on. Even if nobody else will remember him, or think he’s worth remembering, he’d prefer existing as Nappa in Hell rather than try to become someone else. In Hell he would be angry that people like Vegeta (and by Super continuity, EVEN FRIEZA) get a chance to continue living after doing something “redeemable” yet he was never given that chance. 

Sooo...that’s why his Fortuneteller Baba Champion verse that links with his Conton City verse exists! (After he proved he could be more troublesome being kept in Hell by finding ways to escape like how he got Raditz to escape into Otherworld and because in some bizarre way doing that for Raditz cleansed his soul a bit of some of his bad karma. Something that would still puzzle the characters who rule the afterlife and look over such things.)

"Who's the best mentor? You're the best mentor! *finger guns*"

“Aw! Look who’s trying to be a little boot licker right now!” Nappa responds teasingly. Clearly feeling flattered at the reminder that Mariko loved him as a mentor. “But I can’t blame you for being so honest. That’s an admirable trait of yours! Don’t ever lose that or let some jerk take advantage of you for it!”

Her touch snapped Nappa out of his melancholy thoughts of the past and turned to see that it was Poharu giving him the massage. It has been some time since anyone did such a thing for him. There was some momentary embarrassment felt on his end for the way he flinched initially before turning.

Was he really that deep in thought that she could easily sneak up on him without him noticing?

It was a welcome distraction from the subject that was weighing heavily on his mind. Such things hadn’t bothered Nappa in awhile since he was told to stay here in Conton instead of Hell. Could she tell what was on his mind? Or was this just an impulsive yet kind gesture on her part? It mattered not. 

The elder Saiyan warrior closed his eyes and sighed deeply. Trying to focus on the way Poharu’s fingers kneaded his skin and tense muscles. “Thanks,” he finally muttered in appreciation, speaking softly in an effort not to ruin the pleasant silence between them in this moment.

*Fross slips by and knocks at Nappa door, dressed as Christian Gray from 50 Shades, because Fross is weird* I'm the big scary boogeyman! Trick or treat, future dad!

Fross probably wasn’t expecting Nappa’s head to phase through the door to look at him with direct eye contact. His usually tanned skin was now transparent with a white glow to it. “Huh...didn’t know your people’s boogeymen wore suits with ties.” For the moment he ignored the Arcosian’s teasing to get to a more pressing matter. “Can you do something for me that I can’t do myself while I can go through uh...everything?”

"Trick'r'treat! Or I'll slay ya!"

“Heh, someone already beat ya to it today!” This was the first time Nappa could smile and joke about this very annoying situation he was currently in. “I’m supposed to say only one but you can have three. I’d pass ‘em out but…” the ghostly Saiyan then passed his hand through the bowl as he did with Mariko earlier when she came over. “…can’t pick up anything.”

Most admirable quality: “Poharu’s so hardworking and ASSERTIVE!!! And just because she’s nice doesn’t mean she’ll take crap from anyone! Those vibrant eyes that get a mischievous little twinkle in them when she’s being flirty with me. Her long white hair that shines in the sunlight and makes her look like she’s got a glowing aura around her beautiful face. And her lips! O-ho ho...I’ll be thinking about her lips a lot now.” ~♥Most annoying habit: “I’m not sure if it’s a habit of hers yet, but she might be more comfortable doing certain things out in public than I would be. I know kissing in public isn’t that bad to her, but I’d rather do that in private. Unless it’s on the cheek or other tasteful parts to kiss real quick.”Something they would like to do with them: “I’m okay doing anything with Poharu. Even before she kissed me, it felt great just being around her. Getting to talk to her. I wouldn’t mind having some training and sparring sessions with her. Give her a chance to get out of the hotel and the kitchen for a bit. Give me the chance to see that body of hers in action! Feeling how rough playing with her can get! Ooooh that gets me excited just thinking about it!” (In a way that’s SFT after December 17...and also not okay after that date.)

“Mariko’s one of my first and best students here in Conton! I like her enthusiasm and dedication to her training...”

“...even if that means she goes off to train with Raditz, and Turles...and Shallot a lot more nowadays. I can’t blame her for wanting to try out other mentors and techniques to make her a better fighter.”

“She got pretty sassy with me the other day too! What happened to the wide-eyed girl who respected me completely. huh?!”

“Her other mentors might be a bad influence on her, but I don’t have a problem teaching her respect. Mariko’s got a lot of potential as a warrior, and I’m lucky to have a student like her sticking around for my training.”
