The concept of putting a teenage American boy from present day against an old mad Victorian man is hilarious actually, I love it

Would anyone be interested in joining a MPHFPC discord server? Or is there one already?
I looked on disboard but all of the MPHFPC servers are just role play and I’m looking more for a community server for making friends, sharing art, discussing the books, etc.
So yeah if there isn’t one already I’m probably going to make one, lmk if you’d be interested in joining!!

I'm seriously thinking about writing a fic showing Alma's point of view in AMOD when she wakes up and discovers what her children did to her. The fact that the book has Jacob's people in it makes many readers only focus on "Jacob's truth."

it is kinda crazy that jacob drugged alma and left three little kids with only hugh, a teenager who might have been abusing alcohol, to care for them
It was the most stupidly irresponsible thing Jacob could do. It saddens me even more to know that the person who planned this was Millard, who is probably the peculiar with the most advanced mental age (he is around 18/19 years old) and in theory he should be responsible. He practically drugged his own mother.
They could wait for her to leave for a meeting, something else safer. But not. They simply left, leaving her drugged and completely unprotected.
So many things could have gone wrong. What protection did children have? Two preschool children, a pre-teen with cowardly tendencies, a depressed teenager and an adult unconscious for an indefinite period of time. In an emergency how would they escape? They would have to carry the body of the unconscious ymbryne to be able to save herself. If the police arrived? Without Alma to erase the memories, the children would hardly know how to resolve the situation. If a wight attacked? They all died without a shadow of a doubt . If they didn't die, they would suffer worse things.
Not for a single second did Jacob or any of the children who hung out with him think about it.

❇️“They have control of the hollows! Fall back, men! Defensive positions!”❇️
I think I was on drugs or possessed while making this /pos
Anyway made this cause I was thinking about Caul sitting in some little room where no one can find him, screaming into the PA system

always comes to mind when fan casting any dark, beautiful, seductive witchy character. Not to stereotype but she's just got that face and energy that's perfect for that sort of a role. And also her voice good Lord

y’all…these interviews with ransom contain so many interesting little nuggets of information 🤭 my post-work guilty pleasure is watching all of them and analyzing them LMFAO anyways onto the tea…
In a Q&A he did with Strand bookstore when Desolations came out, he mentioned that the original concept for miss peregrines home for peculiar children was a poetry book with Edward Gorey-esque poems accompanying the vintage photographs. Later, it evolved into a novel told exclusively through letters that Jacob was writing about Wales, the children’s home, and the peculiars to a girl from his hometown, who we later find out died in a car accident six months prior, essentially making the book one where you don’t know if the narrator is telling a true story or if it’s all a figment of their imagination - in this case, Jacob’s coping mechanism. Ransom wrote a draft of that version of the book, and then threw out the manuscript without even sending it to his editor.
for those curious, the time stamp where he talks about the original novel concept is 10:27 🫶🏻
I definitely am intrigued by the unreliable narrator draft of the book, but tbh I’m glad he didn’t end up publishing that version because it just seems a little cliche to me. But I would probably read it bc it would be interesting to see how he’d characterize the kids in that version. Lmk what your thoughts & opinions are!!!!

Top tier simping post
or "Why Horatio is the deepest and most underrated mphfpc character"
Horatio appeared twice in A Map of Days and Conference of the Birds /don’t remember exactly, this two fused together in my head/and literally starring in last ten chapters of The Desolations of Devil's Acre.
He has more context in his few chapters of presence than anyone else has in six books!
His contradictory feelings for H, the decision to protect the children by prioritizing their lives over his own even though he doesn't have to actually. The consequences are for adults [yeah, Jacob?], so Horatio loses his arm while saving kids. None of other characters were injured equally.
[i remember that Fiona lost her tongue but she still can speak somehow]
Horatio is responsible and has a strong sense of duty. He's also the only person in the damn series who speaks straight without being inappropriately mysterious. Jacob needed it. I needed it.
Horatio is stoic, strong and golden-hearted mentor figure im not sure about father figure i see him more like teacher / mentor
/// i already posted about this alternate ending so please check this out!
I also like Sharon. And I'm upset that nothing is known about him at the end of tdoda...
Another one thing I want to specify:
Horatio's appearance
We have this picture in book and i like it BUT he was described in the text as blond so—
Tumblr media
He looks so young my poor little meow meow;;
— so I immediately associated him with Nanami Kento from Jujutsu Kaisen anime
Nanami-san is sharing same character features [stoic, strong and golden-hearted mentor figure]. He's calm and responsible. ALSO! he’s wearing glasses completely covering his eyes almost all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stylish... handsome man...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All right, all right, I'll stop simping! Just one more thing! His way of speaking sounds a little mechanical, so the voiceover suits Horatio, too
youtube
And lastly, the wise words of a wise man.

You've fased several life-or-death situations. But that does not make you an adult.
