Earlier That Day
Tensions were high. With comeback so close and so many concerts and events to prepare for, Stray Kids barely had any time to rest. Your days were filled with practices, recordings, and even more practices. Four hours of sleep was your new standard, and even that seemed like a blessing sometimes. That morning was no different. You had woken up at 6am for an early vocal lesson, wanting to do something in your area of comfort before going for your practice with Chan.
You had been given a duo part with the Chan: something you had never done before. It wasn't that you weren't comfortable dancing with Chan. It's just that you never had a solo dance, always preferring to stay in the back for dance breaks. Vocals were your strong suit and you were more than happy being mostly heard and somewhat seen. When you were given the duo part, you were shocked. Seeing your expression, he just smiled at you and patted your head. "You can do it. I know you can," he said. You felt proud that he believed in you enough to give a part like that to you, so you practiced as much as you could, focusing on not just the moves, but making sure they were as perfect as they could be.
For the past few days, you had reached a place where you could be quite proud, but that morning something felt off. You went to your vocal lesson feeling nervous and tense. Your coach noticed and walked you through exercises to expel some of the tension, but you still harbored a feeling of unease. Still, you shook it off and walked to the dance studio. In the end, what mattered was how well you'd be able to dance and follow through on the moves. The choreo this comeback was more intense, but you were also more determined.
The choreo you had with Chan was short, but detailed. And that was where you were having trouble. You weren't a bad dancer, but it didn't come as easily to you as it did for others. It took time for you to really nail some parts. And that day, no one had the patience.
"No, you need to move them together, y/n. Together," Chan stressed, moving his arms and legs together in formation. You huffed in frustration, tired of running this same part over and over. Still, you listened and replicated what Chan did in what you thought was the right way, but he just sighed heavily in frustration, covering his face with his hands and shaking his head.
"I don't get it, okay? Maybe we just stop for today," you groaned, leaning against the wall. Chan just glared at you from where he was sitting on the couch.
"We can't just stop, y/n. You should've had this perfected two days ago."
"Well I don't, and clearly it's not happening now. Maybe if I take a break-"
"We don't HAVE time for breaks!" he yelled, suddenly getting loud. You gawked at him, surprised by the sudden outburst. You clenched your teeth, not wanting to yell back.
"Yes, we do. At least I do. Hyunjin has the practice room reserved after us. I can just ask him to--"
"He has his own practice! He can't babysit-"
"Babysit!?!" You couldn't hold it anymore. You got off your spot on the wall, going to stand closer to Chan. "I am not some CHILD that needs to be watched or whose hand needs to be held!"
"You're sure about that? You can barely extend a leg-"
"I'm trying to--"
"You're not trying hard enough."
"Bullshit! You're just looking for things to criticize about me!" you yelled, having had enough. You were tired and frustrated. You muscles hurt. Your brain hurt, and Chan nitpicking every muscles movement was not helping in any way.
"It's not like I have to look too hard, yeah? You're floundering around!"
"What's THAT supposed to mean?" you asked, taking a deep breathe and closing your eyes, calming yourself.
"YOU-"
"No"
"-IMPOSSIBLE TO-"
"Chan, we are-"
"-AND HOW CAN YOU-"
"THIS ISN'T GETTING US-"
"IF I KNEW YOU'D ACT LIKE THIS, I WOULDN'T HAVE FOUGHT FOR YOU TO BE IN THE GROUP!"
--a breathe--a hand on your arm--and silence
At the Studio with 3RACHA
Thanks to Hyunjin's text, Han and Changbin knew it was a no nonsense type of day. They both arrived at the studio early, having brought some snacks and drinks to get them through. They made sure to bring every essential they would need to make sure they had everything they would need and wouldn't need to take unnecessary pauses for anything. Han even brought heat packs and a blanket in case it got too cold.
The studio was tense. Chan was much more quiet during the session, only nodding or shaking his head for the most part. The track was complex. It was a ballad, but there were tons of small audio elements that helped it give off that "mala-taste genre" feel. Still, he wasn't satisfied.
Han and Changbin each took turns messing around with their soundboards and looking through their libraries, adding and taking away elements that were either too much or not enough. They even set up the mic so they could make more practical sounds, hitting couch cushions together or unlacing their shoelaces to get sounds that were unique and possibly get the sound-bites.
Chan was huffing more than usual, and as they separated to write lyrics, Han started texting Changbin:
Han: Channie-hyung sounds like a dragon Changbin: Don't you dare tell him that Han: I know! Just, do you know who he fought with? Changbin: I called Hyunjin and said it was y/n. Han: NO Changbin: Yeah, they're at the cuties dorm now Han: I wanna be at the cuties dorm Changbin: Han Jisung Han: yeah yeah I HEAR HIMJDBCJ Han: Nvm, false alarm ;)
When Chan walked into the hallway, he started pacing. Nothing was coming easy to him. Everything sounded wrong, looked wrong, felt wrong. His skin was itching and his hair felt so heavy he wanted to shave it off. He started pulling at his clothes lightly, trying to find a way to release this aching discomfort he felt in his abdomen.
And the fight
He didn't know why or how he could've said those words to you. With every step, he replayed that last moment over in his head: the words leaving his mouth, the way your face morphed to shock, Hyunjin pulling you away, your eyes filled with tears...
He had never seen that look on your face. It was betrayal. Pure, complete betrayal.
He remembers the first time he met you. You had entered the company just the day before, hope shining in your eyes. He had been a trainee for five years at that point. He knew the routine: new trainee's came in with hope, they practiced with all they had, and the with each passing month and each passing evaluation, the hoe drained. Each comment from staff or the teachers or even from the other trainee's left them tired. And in the end it either became too much and they left, or they debuted. And then the trials really began.
But you were a fighter. He met you on your second day at the company and you were filled wit so much excitement. You were in a group vocal lesson and your voice was far from mature. You needed work and the vocal coach did not hold back on their criticisms of you. But instead of letting it get to you, you pushed. You listened to the feedback nestled between their biting words and you implemented it. It had been a while since Chan saw that specific vocal coach nod their head in approval at someone they so brutally tore down only an hour ago.
You could've had a big head. Chan knew when he talked to you that you could have an ego the size Jupiter, but instead he was met with someone so incredibly sweet and such a joy to be around. You two had lunch together that day, and from then on, Chan knew he'd fight for you.
He couldn't have thought that he'd fight you like he did today. Sure, you've had your smaller arguments and your disagreements here and there, but it never got to the point where any of you said anything terribly hurtful. You loved each other, you were family. But the look in your eyes when he said the words that he knew would hurt you the most? His chest squeezed so tight he almost forgot how to breathe.
Chan shook his head, walking back to the studio with a bottle of cold water from the vending machine. He knew he needed to apologize, but he didn't know how. When he walked back in the studio, Han and Changbin looked at him with soft eyes. He could've cried.
He sat down and stared at his laptop. Next to him, Han and Changbin shared a look. They couldn't just sit and let this stew on any longer. Changbin had filled Han in on everything that happened, and they knew the sooner they addressed this, the better for everyone.
"Hyung," Han started, closing his laptop and leaning forward. Chan glanced up at him before looking back at his work.
"Yeah?" he answered, much softer then anyone expected. He was still looking down, but his hands had stilled.
"There's so much pressure on us to do well and there's so many deadlines to meet..." He paused, looking at Changbin, who got the hint.
"You snapped at y/n, and that was a dick move."
Chan's head snapped straight up at that. Changbin took that as a good sign and kept going.
"You need to apologize. And soon," he said, getting straight to the point. Chan just looked at him shocked, unable to get any words out. He knew he had to apologize, but did you even want to see him? Wasn't it too soon? Changbin and Han looked at him expectantly, wanting him to say something. Anything.
"I," he cleared his throat, rubbing a hand along his face. "I want to, but..." he stopped. But what? But they might not want to see me. But they might need some time alone. But they might want to take a break from everything but they might want to leave the group but they might want to disappear. Chan's thoughts fed him every scenario and conversation that might happen.
Finally, he looked down at his hands. "But they're with Hyunjin now, and probably with some others, and they might want time to cool off before seeing me," he said finally. He knew Hyunjin wouldn't leave you alone, so at least he knew you had someone with you.
"You don't have to talk to them now. Just apologize. And let them curse you out, it might make them feel better," Han said, giving Chan a small smile.
"Let them know you're here. And that you're sorry and didn't mean anything you said. You didn't mean it, right?"
"Of course I didn't mean it," Chan said. It was the one thing he was sure of all day. It didn't hit him immediately. But when he was watching you and Hyunjin walk away, it was like the words kept repeating in his head, mocking him.
If I knew you'd act like this, I wouldn't have fought for you to be in the group!
He shook his head, and he felt two hands on his back. Han and Changbin had moved right next to him and were looking at him with understanding and care. I don't deserve them, he thought. He laid his head on the table for a few seconds and took some deep breathes. He deserved to be punched and yelled at and told to go fuck himself, but instead he had two of his members comforting him.
"You can wait until tonight. The others are with y/n/n now. But you should apologize before they go to sleep," Changbin said softly. Chan nodded and smiled at the two. They patting his back and went to go sit down. He'd fix this. He had to.
At The Cuties Dorm
When you fell asleep on Felix's shoulder, he gently stroked your cheek with his finger, wiping away the faint tracks your tears left behind. You nuzzled into his finger and clutched onto his arm tighter. Cute he thought.
Minho and Hyunjin walked back to you all and, seeing your sleeping figure, lowered the volume of the TV and looked at your bedroom door. Looking at Felix, he just nodded and moved aside so Minho could pick you up and move you to your room. Felix went to your shared bathroom and took all of your skincare products to your room, setting on your bedside table.
"Besties don't let each other sleep with makeup on," he said quietly, balancing everything in his arms. It was something you would say whenever you all got back from a late-night schedule. You never let him go to bed with his makeup on. So if he was too tired to take it off, you'd finish your skincare routine before going to Felix and doing his. And so you two had a routine: if one was too tired to take their makeup off, the other would do it for them.
When Minho tried to lay you on your bed, you refused to let him go. Your arms stayed clutched around his neck, and your face nuzzled deeper into his chest.
"Okay," he whispered, crouching down to try and place you on the bed again. "I'll get in with you, okay? But I need to put you down first." He kept his voice low, not wanting to wake you any more than you already were. You groaned lightly but your grip loosened. As soon as you were on the bed, he got in next to you. He put arm around your head and you hummed in contentment.
As soon as Felix set everything down, he turned on the little bedside lamp and got to work, getting rid of any makeup still left. They thought you were still awake but that train of thought was interrupted by a small snore. Minho and Felix looked at each other and laughed quietly.
"Long day," Felix said. Minho nodded, just patting your hair and keeping it out of your face. Minho knew about the hate comments you were getting and how much they were actually bothering you. He walked in on you crying in a practice room and your phone had been open next to you. You put up a strong front in front of everyone, but it hurt.
Ever since, when things got bad, you would hand him your phone. It was a silent message: I need a break, I'll be practicing all day. And he'd just nod, give you a hug, and let you go. This time, a small hug wouldn't do. Comments from random strangers on the internet hurt, but comments from the inside burn.
He looked down at you now, peaceful expression on your face, and sighed. He knew Chan would come to apologize and that it would hurt again, but to heal a burn you have to let it sting first.
Almost like the very thought of him summoned him, the doorbell rang. Minho looked at you again, not wanting to let go. But he gently moved his arm from under your head, gave you a small kiss on your head, and went to the kitchen where he saw Chan standing in front of everyone.
Han and Changbin came with him. Minho couldn't see his face, but the grip Changbin had around Felix's shoulders seemed like he was trying to hold the younger member back. His suspicions were confirmed when he came closer and took one look at his face.
"y/n/n is asleep," Seungmin said, leaning against the counter. He didn't look mad, just tired. In fact, they all did (except Felix who was never able to hide his malice). It had been a long...this pressure had been building for too long.
Chan looked at your bedroom door, left slightly open by Minho. All the determination he had on the walk over had left him. All the anger and stress was gone and replaced with intense regret. "Can I?" he asked, nodding towards the door. Jeongin nodded at him, standing on the other side of Felix and putting a hand on his shoulder. He had dropped the glare but disapproval was coming off of him in waves. Chan understood the feeling.
Walking in, he took one look at you and took in a deep breathe. You were curled up on your side, clutching a pillow to your chest. Your breathing was even and every few seconds you'd let out a little snore that made him laugh. Chan put a hand on your cheek and you immediately nuzzled into it.
He teared up and took another breathe. "You are so talented," he started whispering. "You work so hard and try so hard in everything you do. Without you, we aren't Stray Kids. I am so so sorry I made you think something that wasn't true," he continued whispering, not wanting to wake you up but still wanting to get the words out.
But you were awake, having woken up but the sliver of light let in by the open door. You didn't open your eyes, afraid that you'd lose your courage the moment you looked at the person who was like your big brother.
"It hurt," you said quietly. Chan's voice caught in his throat and the pressure in his chest grew. "I know you were stressed and frustrated but it hurt. A lot."
"I know, y/n/n. I know, and I am so sorry. I never should have let my frustration hurt you like that," Chan choked out. He wanted to hug you but he held back. He leaned down, getting on his knees beside the bed so he could be at eye level with you. Your eyes were still closed but you could feel him looking at you, closer than before.
"I never meant to say it. I swear, fuck, I swear on everything that I am that I didn't mean those words for even a second." Chan was crying now, but he said every word as clear as he could. The thought that you thought of yourself as less-than deserving to be in the group and that you were hurting because of him made him feel like pulling his heart out. "This group wouldn't be compete without you. Every day I see you work I am so proud of the performer and the person you've become. I-" his voice caught again, and the tears came much harder. He turned his head away, wiping relentlessly under his eyes.
A few moments later he felt a hand on his arm. Looking over at you quickly, he saw you. Your eyes were open and tears were coming out at the same speed his was. Your lips were wobbling and when you opened your mouth to speak, the only thing that came out was a choked sob. Chan's own sob mirrored yours.
You jumped out of bed and crouched right next to Chan, hugging him tight. At your touch, Chan cried harder, pulling you close and holding a hand to your head.
"I didn't want to disappoint you but I-"
"There's no 'buts' y/n/n, you could never disappoint me. You did so well today and I was just too in my ass to see that," Chan said, holding you tighter.
"You really were an ass," you sobbed out, crying louder. "But I forgive you just please be patient with me."
"I will. I promise I will. I'll be patient and help you through whatever you need and we'll take breaks. And when it gets frustrating, we'll separate and come back after a few minutes and I promise to never, never, talk to you like that again."
The two of you stayed on the floor, crying and apologizing and making promises that you knew would be kept even when the sun rose.
Together
Felix had a real talent for baking. When the two of you emerged intact and together, they knew all was well. Felix was the first to break, giving you both a hug and punching Chan in the arm, holding back so it wouldn't hurt too much.
"We warmed up the cookies and brownies, and I added some sprinkle hearts on the cake," Felix said, walking back to the kitchen. You smiled, taking Chan's hand and following him.
"There's nothing late night sweets can't heal," Changbin said. Han just nodded along beside him, cheeks stuffed. You smiled, squishing one of his cheeks, unable to resist. He half-heartedly tried to bite your hand, making you laugh louder before sitting down next to him, putting a head on his shoulder. He responded in kind, putting his head on top of yours.
"Hey, is that a rat on the cake?" Han asked, trying to discern the shape Hyunjin drew. The artist in question gasped.
"Excuse you! A RAT?!? My cat is not a rat!"
"If you made Dori look like that I'd punch you," Minho added.
"Hyung!" Hyunjin whined.
You giggled and tried getting up to get some cookies but Han pulled you back. "Nuh-uh, you're not moving anywhere," Han said, putting a cookie to your mouth. You rolled your eyes, but chewed, sitting back contently. Chan put a plate of cake and brownies in front of you, ruffling Han's hair, earning him a bite too.
The next hour was filled with stories from the week, laughing until people started falling off chairs, and good food. When the night started catching up to you, you looked at the time and saw it was 4am. Everyone was laughing at a joke Changbin and Seungmin were telling and you smiled.
My members, you thought again, feeling warm inside.
You went off to your room, laying in your bed, letting the laughs lull you to wonderful dreams, but it wasn't long until suddenly Hyunjin yelled, "Where's y/n!" and suddenly you could hear eight pairs of feet running to your room. They rushed in, looking at you in bed, and you were smiling tiredly.
"I'm sorry, I was just tired," you said softly. Changbin cooed at you, coming over and flopping on top of you. You grunted, feeling squished, but it wasn't too bad.
Until the seven others followed, piling on top of you one by one. You sqeaked, surprised by the sudden added weight of eight guys. Everyone was moving around, trying to find a way to get comfortable until finally, they all settled down. Hums of contentment and happy sighs were heard all around.
Knowing it would be useless to fight it, you just relaxed and closed your eyes. And with your members wrapped around you like a warm blanket sleep and sweet dreams came easy.

As a teacher, what has been your fave shakespere play to teach your students? What interesting themes do the kids these days pick up on or connect with? Has there been any interesting insights your students have brought that have surprised you?
Thanks for the question! So I haven't taught English since before the pandemic, because I finally found a school that doesn't reserve the history classes for the coaches (this kept happening to me when I moved back to the States, I'm dual certified, so I'd get hired for history and they'd move me to English when they hired a coach. This happened like 3 times), which is great for me, I vastly prefer teaching history. But did teach a lot of English previously and I'd say the answer really depends on the group of kids, their reading level, how much they'd been exposed to previously.
There's a reason high schools usually start off with Romeo and Juliet in the 9th grade. The story is not difficult to follow, most teenagers are familiar with the concept of forbidden romance, and the themes are age appropriate. I've taught King Lear, which is one of my personal favorites, to a group of very advanced and very keen 12th graders (so 17-18 years old), and I think even they were too young and lacking the life experience to really get it (it's kind of unfortunate that by the time King Lear hits hardest, which imo is once your own parents start aging, most of us are not reading Shakespeare anymore. Very few people read it outside of a school setting, nerds on tumblr notwithstanding). So it can be objectively more rewarding to teach a relatively basic play like Romeo and Juliet, than to teach a more advanced play like King Lear, even though I like King Lear better, simply because it's more suited to the age group.
But probably my favorite play to teach is Hamlet, which I've taught in both 11th and 12th grade. Hamlet is a broody young man, he's home from university and his life sucks, his asshole uncle has married his mom, he's pretty sure his dad was murdered, his girlfriend literally kills herself, there's a ghost, and no one is listening to him. It strikes a good balance in that it has some great soliloquys, including the famous "to be or not to be," that you can really dig into, but which don't get too far into the weeds and don't require a whole history lesson to understand. There are allusions, but they're mostly mythology based (like Niobe, all tears, Hyperion to a satyr) which makes them easy for the kids to look up. Importantly, it asks age appropriate existential questions about life and death (what's the point in living when you're miserable, is suffering noble, what if death is not better), stuff that teenagers grapple with. Macbeth is also good to teach because it's quite exciting with all of the murder, betrayal, and of course the witches.
It's been four years since I last taught English so it's hard for me to remember any specific insights from the kids at the moment but I will say that in general, one of my favorite lessons to teach each year in the Shakespeare unit was on the use of language. The kids fucking loved learning iambic pentameter. One of my favorite things to do was write a couple of lines on the board (I usually used two lines from Julius Caesar which were the same lines my own English teacher used to teach us when I was in school Poor man! I know he would not be a wolf/But that he sees the Romans are but sheep) and get them to beat out the meter on their desks. They thought it was so cool that iambic meter has the same rhythm as the human heart, and that it is more or less the natural rhythm of our speech. When we'd read the plays, I'd catch them tapping out the meter to themselves to test it out.
In general, I enjoyed teaching Shakespeare, but it was also a struggle. It's very hard to get kids who, for the most part, do not read for pleasure to read a whole play in early modern English. Mostly their reading consists of short passages as part of standardized testing, and they're very resistant to the very idea of Shakespeare, which they write off as old and boring. As a teacher I had to work very hard to make the text engaging enough to push past that wall and while there are always kids who are just not going to get there, every year I taught Shakespeare I was always pleasantly surprised by how many kids would get fully invested. I guess it's just fun when the kids are actually into the story. The themes are great and all, but Shakespeare wrote these plays to be entertaining and it makes me really happy when the kids are entertained by them.

heyoo it's m (eileen's mun) back w a brand new muse that i'm rly excited to write & develop! u can find a summary abt him under the cut & hit the heart or msg me if you'd like to plot! i have some ideas at the end but am always down to brainstorm something together
₊˙ ◌⁎˚ ﹒﹙kim dongyoung ‘doyoung’. cis male. he/him.﹚guess who was almost late for their shift at lapis roasters again?? that’s right, it was lee sunjae! it’s a wonder their job as an owner isn’t in jeopardy. the 27 year old has been working at sunset galleria for two and a half years, and is well known for their empathetic nature. on bad days, they can be rather reserved, though. when the mall is dead at night, they can usually be found smoking on the rooftop, but don’t tell their boss!
EARLY LIFE (mentions of low self worth tw)
his STATS page has a lot more basic tidbits about him so feel free to skim thru that for more details
born in seoul on jan 9th, 1996 (cap sun, leo moon & virgo rising <;3)
sunjae's family own a group of hospitals so they're Rich rich lmao but more on that later. he also has an older sister!
he's lived sort of a rich life and not just by financial standards- from the ages of 8 - 17 he was a junior tennis player! and he pursued it pretty seriously, he trained in poland for two years and spain for 10 months, winning several big tournaments. this meant he was mainly out of classes/privately tutored & didn't rly have a lot of friends aside from his core besties. he travelled w his mom so they've always been close, and she was his biggest supporter
tennis was p much consuming his life and although he enjoyed it for the most part, the pressure from his coaches and himself rly got him into a weird spiral. his negative self talk & feelings of worthlessness ultimately cost him a couple of games and he kinda had a breakdown & lost passion for the sport he once loved.
anywys mom was kinda sad abt his withdrawal but she still supported him, dad less so bc of how much money they put towards his career & all the clubs/training but whatever. we ball.
POST TENNIS LIFE & CAREER
ok he's dropped tennis.. naow what... realizing he doesn't rly know what to do w his life & his grades? aren't great so he ends up travelling w his sister for a bit bc she wants to help him get out of his funk.
ultimately decides to enlist to 1) buy himself some time to think 2) rumours abt draft envasion were running around the rich family circles & he didn't want his family to deal w that
sunjae gets caught up on reading lots during his service & returns with a new goal! enroll in uni and get a bachelors in international relations. he has to work hard to study but uni years were much needed to just.. round him out as a person n be around so many new people n jst be some college kid !!
fast forward he's 25 with a degree & still kinda lost lmao! his sister who opened and ran a coffee shop (hint: sunset's very own lapis roasters) has a newborn baby and wants to rly focus on being a mom so she's like hey.. wna run this business for me while i'm gone? :) and it's been two & half years of sunjae as the owner. (it's sweet tho bc on their travels together they always bonded over good coffee and sunjae could tell she's rly passionate abt it so he gives it his all)
now he's 27 and still running lapis, it's good for him but unless you know him closely you wouldn't know he's the owner. acts like he's just another coffee roaster or barista
recently he's pursuing the idea of becoming a human rights lawyer & in his first year at a law school in daegu after a long trial of applying. sunjae's decided that even tho he's unsure exactly what his path will be, he wants to help people whether that's by fighting for them in court or just serving them the best cup of coffee they've ever had :)
PERSONALILTY & DETAILS
loosely inspired by ren from f4 thailand.. v observent of other people's feelings & can be so selfless that it's a flaw at times. putting everyone first & always quietly taking care of people in his own ways, covering the bill for dinner or just lending an ear. the type to rmbr the little details in a conversation w stranger and bring them up if they ever saw each other again
wld Die for his friends.. his homies.. the leo loyalty will be the death of him bc even if his friends get in a stupid brawl u know he's jumping in to defend them. loves to go out w them but doesn't drink much so he's always the dd & 'yes we'll get mcdonalds drive thru on the way home jst get in the car'
there's still a goofy side to him,, kinda like his inner child bc his youth was spent being consumed in sport so he loves teasing friends, using a shorter person's head as an arm rest, pulling harmless pranks etc etc
even tho sunjae grew up rich he never rly showed off his money n u prob wouldn't know abt his wealth until u see that he drives an audi r8 but again he doesn't make a big deal out of it tht's simply his car of choice LOL
knows how to play piano! prob sneaks a couples songs in at lunar flare when there's no one around
developed a smoking habit somewhere down the line that's been hard to kick but he tries to keep it more of a secret (sneaking up late on the rooftop)
PLOTS
rich kid squad: also loosely inspired by the squad from f4 thailand.. the people he grew up with bc their families were friends/attended the same rich people events lol. his found home rly, the kind of friends he would die for and they've been thru thick & thin together over the years - lots of dynamic possibilities here !!
designated driver: the guy u call when u need a way home, could be friends or could be that he happened to be driving one night and sees u walking drunk?? offers to give u a ride
sports/fitness pal: either someone he can hit with bc he still has the tennis skills (esp his killer serve) or someone to go bouldering/hiking with. alternatively someone he's teaching tennis to !
fellow weeb: the new shinkai movie is out... he's calling u up to join him. or simply chill anime watch parties at his place. snacks included
landlord: unbeknowst to u sunjae owns the small apartment building u live in.. maybe u openly complain abt the water pressure & magically it gets fixed the next day (he bought the building bc he got a load of inheritance & his dad said real estate is the best investment but truly he jst wants his tenants happy)
fake boyfriend: either for a day or an event or to make someone jealous he pretends to be ur boyfriend & he's p good at it.. humbles whoever u were trying to trick
confidant: someone who was screaming their sorrows off the rooftop when he went up for a smoke & then they ended up having a conversation and have been bumping into each other there ever since
almost lovers: the timing was just never right.. maybe he loved them too soon and they loved him too late or something else was stopping them from becoming what they wanted to be :/
something based off this :( maybe someone who was there when he was spiralling & cared a lot for him or just ends up being super upset on his behalf
random thoughts: someone taking advantage of his kindness or money / someone he's teaching to drive / someone he knows from church / friends from uni / little sibling figure!! / bad influence on him / mutual dislike or hateship / exes or past flings / childhood friend who always slept over at his + anything else we think of!

For the past few days @darthmelyanna has been sharing details about the infighting and incompetence behind the founding of the organization we now know today as USAG and boy does it make me want to know what other countries officials who had to deal with these clowns were saying.
Some fun facts:
The Amateur Athletic Union or AAU originally controlled gymnastics in the United States. As well as basketball, track, and a number of other sports. They controlled if an American athlete could compete in another country and if a foreign athlete could compete in the US. Among the traits of the AAU was that the bylaws of the organization had been written so the man in charge couldn't be fired or replaced and no one but that one individual was qualified to hold the job. Dictator for life.
And he ... didn't really respond to his mail either from US coaches/athletes or from foreign officials. When officials in New Zealand sent a request that some American gymnasts tour New Zealand 8 months went by before they had to write an American coach to find out if they were going to get an answer.
One of the things the AAU had done... or rather not done... was produce an english translation of the code of points. Americans were literally competing at Olympic events in a sport where they didn't have a rule book in their own language.
When they eventually did produce a translation the American gymnastics equipment manufacturer Nissen also produced a translation of the FIG code of points.
They didn't agree.
But that almost didn't matter because within the United States the different regions had their own individual judging standards. The Americans couldn't decide what scores should be between themselves. And because FIG was dealing with the AAU as the national governing body those coaches who broke off to form the USGF weren't getting FIG judges training.
So with all of this the Americans show up to the 1964 Olympic Games (presumably with their two different codes of points and several different judging standards) and decide that the US had been terribly underscored and that they were really the 3rd best team in the world even though they placed 9th. And are very mad at the AAU for not starting a diplomatic incident because the Americans didn't receive higher scores.
And that's all before we get into how much USGF really... really... loved apartheid South Africa.
I really hope she writes about this because I'm not covering even half the craziness.

Thomas the Tank Engine series 1 UK VHS release observations
The first series of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends has enjoyed perhaps the most home media releases of all of the 24 series that made up the programme. The UK VHS releases of series 1 have quite a convoluted history and in this post I am going to attempt to do an overview of each series 1 UK VHS release over the years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first series of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends was first broadcast on CITV between the 9th of October 1984 and the 8th of January 1985, with the series being broadcast in double bills of two episodes with a nameboard sequence in-between. The first home video release of the series was Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends Cassette 1, released by Guild Home Video on the 1st of April 1985. This video contained the first 13 episodes of series 1 (Thomas & Gordon to Thomas, Terrence & the Snow) and apparently sold very well, as copies turn up frequently on the second hand market today. This release was followed by Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends Cassette 2 on the 7th of October 1985, featuring the remaining 13 episodes (Thomas & Bertie to Thomas' Christmas Party). For reasons unknown, Cassette 2 is quite rare these days, which surprises me as it contains the better part of series 1. A titbit to note about these releases is that some editing had to be done to Thomas, Terrence & the Snow and Thomas & Bertie due to them originally being paired together on first broadcast. On Cassette 1, Thomas, Terrence & the Snow uses the end credits from Edward, Gordon & Henry, while on Cassette 2, Thomas & Bertie begins with the standard opening titles, but without an episode title, then cuts to the nameboard sequence before the episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1986 saw the rights to series 1 transferred to The Video Collection, who released the series on three videos under their Kaleidoscope brand. The first was the rather plainly titled Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, released on the 28th of July that year and featuring the first eight episodes of series 1 (Thomas & Gordon to James & the Coaches), followed by Troublesome Trucks & Other Stories and Coal & Other Stories on the 3rd of November, both containing nine episodes each; Troublesome Trucks to Percy Runs Away on Troublesome Trucks & Other Stories, and Coal to Thomas' Christmas Party on Coal & Other Stories. These releases reinstate the Thomas, Terrence & the Snow-Thomas & Bertie nameboard sequence, however as Percy Runs Away and Coal were originally paired together, the single broadcast edits were used, so Percy Runs Away has it's own end credits and Coal has the standard title sequence. I had Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends and Coal & Other Stories when I was a child, so I have a lot of fondness for them. Also note that Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends has the same cover design as the first Guild Home Video release, though the Kaleidoscope branding helps to distinguish it. 1986 also saw the first broadcast of series 2 of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, though the video rights to series 2 would go to Pickwick Video initially and wouldn't pass on to The Video Collection until 1992.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 1988, The Video Collection decided to re-release the three series 1 tapes, though under their own name this time, and Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends was renamed Thomas & Gordon & Other Stories. These videos were released on the 16th of May 1988 and can be distinguished by their superb cover artworks, courtesy of Owain Bell. The episodes on these videos were the same as on the 1986 releases, though Percy Runs Away and Coal use the double bill masters, so some poor editing was done as a result of them being on separate tapes, with Percy Runs Away using the end credits from Coal, and Coal starting with the standard opening titles, but without an episode title, then cutting to the nameboard sequence before the episode. I had this particular release of Troublesome Trucks & Other Stories when I was a kid and I can remember the sudden change at the end of Percy Runs Away. Another curious aspect of these releases is that Troublesome Trucks & Other Stories and Coal & Other Stories both have illustrations of characters introduced in series 2 on their back covers, with Troublesome Trucks & Other Stories having an illustration of Duck and Diesel, and Coal & Other Stories having one of Bill & Ben. This is curious as The Video Collection wouldn't get the rights to series 2 for four more years. In the meantime, several miscellaneous series 1 videos would come out.

Between 1988 and 1990, The Video Collection released a number of videos in Watch & Play packs, covering several different series, including He-Man, Danger Mouse and The Wind in the Willows. Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends had three Watch & Play releases in this period; Thomas the Tank Engine and Thomas & the Breakdown Train & Other Stories, both released on the 7th of November 1988, and The Sad Story of Henry & Other Stories, released on the 1st of October 1990. These tapes all had six episodes each, two from each of the three main series 1 releases; Thomas the Tank Engine containing Thomas & Gordon, Edward & Gordon, Thomas & the Guard, Thomas Goes Fishing, Dirty Objects and Off the Rails, Thomas & the Breakdown Train & Other Stories containing Thomas & the Breakdown Train, James & the Coaches, Thomas, Terrence & the Snow, Thomas & Bertie, Toby & the Stout Gentleman and Thomas in Trouble, and The Sad Story of Henry & Other Stories containing The Sad Story of Henry, Edward, Gordon & Henry, Troublesome Trucks, James & the Express, The Flying Kipper and Whistles & Sneezes. I had Thomas the Tank Engine as a kid and it was a good way to pass the half-an-hour before I had to leave for school. As with the 1988 releases, these videos featured artwork by Owain Bell, though they used cardboard covers instead of plastic cases.

On the 17th of September 1990, The Video Collection released several bumper special videos for a number of children's' TV series, including Rainbow, Sooty, The Wind in the Willows and of course Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. This video, simply titled Bumper Special, featured 17 episodes from series 1; The Sad Story of Henry, Edward, Gordon & Henry, Thomas & the Breakdown Train, James & the Coaches, Troublesome Trucks, James & the Express, Thomas & the Guard, Thomas goes Fishing, Thomas, Terrence & the Snow, Thomas & Bertie, Coal, The Flying Kipper, Whistles & Sneezes, Toby & the Stout Gentleman, Thomas in Trouble, Down the Mine and Thomas' Christmas Party. A curious aspect about this tape is that Thomas, Terrence & the Snow and Thomas & Bertie are the Guild Home Video masters, thus Thomas, Terrence & the Snow has the end credits from Edward, Gordon & Henry, and Thomas & Bertie has the butchered intro/nameboard sequence.

The Video Collection's Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends catalogue became considerably more varied in the 1990's, as they were given the rights to series 3 upon it's release in 1991, the rights to series 2 in 1992 and the rights to all series from that point onwards. 1992 also saw the Watch & Play video format get another outing, this time branded as Learn With. Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends was represented in this series by Down the Mine & Other Stories, released on the 1st of June 1992 and featuring six episodes from series 1; Thomas' Train, Thomas & the Trucks, Tenders & Turntables, Trouble in the Shed, Down the Mine and Thomas' Christmas Party. Note that the cover uses a photo of Thomas from Bertie's Chase, which was a series 2 episode and thus not on the tape.

The 11th of October 1993 saw the three main series 1 VHS releases from 1986/88 get a revamp, with new covers designed by Britten Ellis McKean and new titles; Thomas & Gordon & Other Stories becoming Thomas & the Trucks & Other Stories, Troublesome Trucks & Other Stories becoming Thomas goes Fishing & Other Stories, and Coal & Other Stories becoming Down the Mine & Other Stories (not to be confused with the previous year's Learn With release of the same name.) The episode masters on these tapes are exactly the same as the 1988 releases, the only difference being the inclusion of a promo at the beginning for various children's videos narrated by Ace herself, Sophie Aldred. I personally consider this video cover design to be the best design, though I find the choice of images for these series 1 videos to be odd, as none are from series 1. The image of Henry is from series 3's Henry's Forest, the image of Thomas is from series 3's The Trouble with Mud and the image of Gordon is from series 2's Wrong Road.

The Video Collection rebranded as VCI in 1995 and the following year saw VCI release a number of videos branded as My Little Minivid. Several kids' TV shows got the mini-vid treatment, including Rosie & Jim, Wizadora, Sesame Street and Fourways Farm. Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends received two mini-vids; My Little Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends Minivid and My Little Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends Video, released on the 5th of February and 1st of July 1996 respectively. The former contained the first four episodes of series 1 (Thomas & Gordon to Edward, Gordon & Henry) and the latter contained episodes 5-9 (Thomas' Train to Troublesome Trucks)

In 1998, VCI decided it was finally time to release the entirety of series 1 in one package and so duly released Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends: The Complete 1st Series on the 18th of May that year. This was a two-video set containing all 26 episodes of series 1. The first tape contained episodes 1-13 (Thomas & Gordon to Thomas, Terrence & the Snow) and the second tape contained episodes 14-16 (Thomas & Bertie to Thomas' Christmas Party), essentially mirroring the original Guild Home Video releases from 1985, and thus the wheel came full circle.

The final series 1 VHS release was a re-release of Down the Mine & Other Stories on the 22nd of July 2002. This was the final time series 1 would be available on VHS, as with DVD becoming prevailing by then, VHS was on the way out. Series 1 would receive it's first DVD release in 2004 and would go on to be re-released in 2010 and 2012.
That concludes my look at Thomas the Tank & Friends series 1 UK VHS releases. Quite a list, as The Video Collection/VCI seemed to be really keen on series 1 and this is excluding the compilation videos, where episodes from multiple series were compiled onto one video. If anyone wants to see me do a look at VHS releases of series 2-5 of Thomas the Tank & Friends, leave a request and I'll see what I can do.

Let's rant out Story 1
The biggest Regret of my life, may be of my life time... It was April 2022, she told me either leave me or be with me, this was not for the time, she said the same thing in past in July 2016 for my friend (let's call her N)
Let's start from the beginning
It was April 2015, new academic session for my 9th section was begun, one new admission was there( let's call her SM). I was very introvert person so I don't prefer to initiate the talks... One fine morning we had a mid term exams, and fortunately or unfortunately her roll no. Was just before me, I still curse that day, that why did I helped her during my exams? Why
Everything was going very smoothly, I had never intended to talk to her anytime besides exams. But on the last day of paper she just asked me to go somewhere out with her like for cafe. This was the first time so I asked WHY? Why should I go with you? She said because you helped me during the exams.. I mean seriously? I'm doing that since my 6th standard and no-one ever was so informal to asked me for the cafe... That was very quick so that time I said "YES" but next week.. next week because I need time to rethink that should I go with her or NOT? And finally after consulting with my best friend at that time I decided to go with her...
It was 8th July 2015,( don't mind I am genius in remembering dates), we went to McDonald's (LOL). There we had a very soft talk like regarding family ,past and all. She said her father passes away 2 years back. It was not very shocking for me , because same happened with my mother 3 years back. Anyhow I thought she would understand my pain and vice versa.
Coming fast forward to xx date, 2015 it was my birthday... She had a plan for me. I told her that every year I go to a restaurant alone. She said that she also wants to join me this time.. I had no problem untill or unless she is not interfering in my privacy... But that day was more than just a birthday... I belive Many things are still not be told, let's that secret remain between me and her...
So yes.. let's get back to SM , after my birth day, next we went to WTP on her birthday that is on 21st December 2015... This time it was my turn to plan a surprise for her for her birthday, that day whatever happened, I never wanted that to happen. She not proposed me but something similar to that, she said that "Mein tumhe like karne lagi hu and I see my future with you", these were her exact words... I never want this to happen, but jo hona tha woh hogya, I just hushed... What else can I do at that time
Fast forward, to 2016 June-July, few days later I told her "see mein koi fake promises nhi karunga, mein kal ka toh chhooro mein yeh bhi nhi jaanta agle pal kya ho jaaye, so how can I give commitment for next 5-6 years? Mein tumhe Aaj haa boldu phir kal khuch ho jaaye then you'll raise finger on me ki mein palat gya" this way I simply rejected her proposal. And it was mutually decided in 2016 July that we will be just friend on a condition she put that I'll never get close to N(my good female friend at that time) and from my side it was unconditional on her...
From August 2016- January 2017, I mean we had tour whole jaipur, I don't think any place was left , eventually the bond become stronger and stronger but on a emotional note from my side.. days passed by, and after my 10th was completed from that same school I decided to opt for another school... She pleaded a lot to me to be with her in the same school, it was not easy for even me too, anyhow everyone had there personal reasons, I too had and I left the school...
But may be this was not the end, some more years, some more fun, some more craziness and some more time for friendship was still left... Take it as that even when I left the school, we both went to the coaching in 11th which were just a building apart from each other.. so my everyday evening tea was with her only... Not only this after coaching gets over, we had a very nice time in a cafez eating momos and all... My eyes still gets filled with tears when I remember those times...
Now this was the time when we got both addicted to each other, and just few days before 12th boards exam she said that she can't focus on her studies and keep thinking about me all the day.. this was something very unusual to me, someone said this for the first time to me that she thinks of me.. LOL
On a lighter note I suggested that you can study while doing VC with me... I never thought that she will take it seriously.. okay but, I did had no problem because the purpose was just to study, beneficial for me too...
And this way the phase 1 of our chapter comes to an end
After the JOSAA counselling she went to another college, and I went to another but in the same city... She gets busy with her own work and I got busy in mine... We usually meet atleast twice to thrice in a month, bond started faded away, this is what I wanted since long but could not gathered the courage to say... anyhow everything was going till March 2020, then NATIONWIDE Lockdown was declared... She went back to her hometown, *now I realised how much important she was for my mental health and stability*, many things have changed since 2015 but she was my constant...
One day in December 2020, she told me that she got a BF, whom I know but never met. Okay , I still don't have any problem... She is happy, what else I want...
Now by the October - November 2021 when everything comes to the track , the Lockdown was completely revoked and she came back here again, she asked me to be in serious relationship with her... I kept denying and denying for 3 months but then finally one day of April 2022, when my life was going very smooth, she said either be with me or leave me... I was not left with any other option... I cannot afford to lose her at any cost , because I've seen my mental health when she was not there. So we got in a relationship and just after 20 days, on 25th April she demands to get in physical relationship with me... On a lighter note in teen age everyone wants all this shit so I accepted her this offer, we went to a hotel, in a room... But idk what happened atm, out of intuition I felt like what next, if she leaves me, or if she files a police complaint, and bla bla bla... so I turned down at that moment.. so yes we went to hotel but we didn't had anything else except just aten the pizza and burger 🥲🥲. I thought if any girl wants to get physical then offcourse she sees her future with me, but no, I was wrong...
Now just after 10 days of this incident a msg popped up on my phone from her side, and she claimed that her ex BF is back , after his studies and they both are now in relationship. I told her you have to choose between both of us.. because it was not me who initiated to be in relationship, it was you, now it's up to you.. in very bold letters I've texted her "AGAR TUM MERE SAATH RELATIONSHIP TODTI HO TOH BHI MUJHE KOI DIKKAT NHI HOGI", my hands were shivering while writing this... Everything is not possible on chats and text msg so we decided to meet once and sort out the way to future, whatever possible...
On 5th May 2023, we met, she asked me "TUM MUJHE CHHORNE KI SOCH BHI KAISE SAKTE HO, WE HAD A GREAT TIME OF 8 YEARS TOGETHER", on when I told her that I'll have no problem if she leaves me...I said when 8 years ago, when we met I had seen you as a friend, usse zyada khuch nhi, but now it's getting more than that, and I reiterated the same thing which I told her few years back ki I don't know what happens next, I had never thought that we'll be together for these 8 years.. I'm very thankful to God that I got you in my life. The conclusion of that meet was that I did had no problem, if she gets in relationship with her ex BFF again, but we'll Always remain friends, and out of that reason I advised her to rethink on her EX, because when ex or past person comes again in life, it for sure any reason...
In the month of June, just because of curiosity I checked her Instagram by using her I'd and password ( don't give excuses that's it the issue of privacy, I know, but I've my own reasons). The chats which I've read there with her ex, was stick in my throat. And the bitching they both have done about me was unbelievable. I was completely broken, when I came to know that with whom I'm with since last 8 years thinks about me like this... Just for instance let's take an example:- Most of the time whenever we used to go out, it was me who pays the bill, with my own willingness,(I've no problem in this at all) and on Chat with her ex she told him that "mast chutiya kaata hai iska Aaj" referring to me... This is least what I can tell, but There were 100 more similar examples flashing infront of my eyes...
It was not easy for me to digest all these facts.. agar kisi aur nein mujhe yeh baat btayi hoti toh I would have not believed it, lekin I've seen all these msg by my own... I thought that I should meet her and ask about this. But she came to know that I used her ig and read her msgs, so she was delaying the meet day by day... So I thought everything is in front of me, why should I make her embarrass by asking anything, and even she had an answer that will be considered as excuse... From that day till today I still want to know the reason why she had done all this with me.. isn't it like I haven't met her after that , I met her many times but never ever asked her about all this shit... Still whenever she talks to me I'm always there to support her but, what about me? I don't think I deserves this treatment at all.
In March 2023, After completing her graduation she moved to another city, on her last day here she asked me to come and meet her for the last time, I thought I should go, but my life is not so one sided, or one way, who knows maybe fate will be something else?? I couldn't go to meet her with reason is an irony...
The day she was leaving for another city, the same day I went to attend a program which can't be postponed or delayed. So yes I went to a program instead of going to See off my 8 years old friend.
I still regret that day when I helped her during our exam, that first cafe date and all those first time. I thank to God that I haven't got physical with her, because just after 10 days of that incident she started showing her traits...
Mein pehle bhi kehta tha aur wapas kehta hu, I've never allowed anyone except my father and sister to dominate me and control me.. but SM did had that authority and she misused it...
What an irony is that I can't say good bye to her just because I've to attend some programs which couldn't be delayed. At last I don't know who is the winner but I lost my friend. The one regret of not saying a last good bye to my friend will remains always in my heart...
