Field Ordnance Batteries are some of the largest man-portable weapons that humanity fields. They range from Heavy Lascannons, for direct anti-armor capabilities, to mulit-missile launch systems like the Malleus Rocket Launcher for sweeping enemy infantry from the battlefield. These guns provide mid range support, often deployed behind the front line to operate in positions where they can engage targets as needed.
The Taurox is the fast attack APC of the Astra Militarum, prized for it's all-terrain speed and capable armament. Serving as the lighter cousin to the Chimera, it carries a similar troop compliment, but sacrifices durability for speed and ease of deployment. Kasrkin squads utilize them when enemy flak is too thick to airdrop troops, or when a less obvious approach is needed.
The 99th use both of these weapon platforms in conjunction, as enemy positions are hammered by artillery strikes, the Tauroxes advance under fire to disgorge their furrious payload directly into the enemy lines. Once the foothold is established, the 99th mounts back up and moves to prepare for the next attack, always applying pressure to the enemy.

Excerpt from Personal Diary of Lt. Tallan, 99th McConnellian Regiment.
Cycle 1. Day 11. 03:43 Local System Time.
We got the vox-call early last night. Tyranid bioships were in system and bearing down on Firra V. Right into our garrison. Before we even had time to send a call out of system, the xenos were making planetfall. The crews barely managed to get into their vehicles and skylight flares fired before they were in range.
Lady Cassandra of Knight House Easte rode to battle with us, in her birthright Fellowship Remembered, but before she could come to blows with the xenos, her warsuit was brought low by a volley of acidic fire from two monstrous Tyranids. Vox-coms from the far side of the battle line indicated a high priority kill scored, but last thing my crew heard from the 11th Kasrkin was a warning call for incoming fire. Screams rattled the vox before the line went dead. I'll have to check the dead for Lt. Harris when the sun rises.
Finally after pushing the xenos back to their landing sites, we discovered the key to our salvation. A Prometheum storage depot turned out to be the landing zone for the xenos and the engineers had rigged the depot to blow, but they had been overrun before detonating the bombs. I ordered the driver forward, ramming our Dorn into the side of some monstrous subterranean xenos before I jumped to the ground and seized the detonator. With the click of a button, the night suddenly turned to day with the fire of a thousand suns over the horizon.
The night has been quiet, as has the vox. We can only hope that we got them all.

Depicted here is Captain Amelia Weave and Sergeant Dawn of the 3rd Kasrkin Grenadiers
While Kasrkin are typically unique to Cadian regiments, the Fall of Cadia has prompted veterans of those units to begin training recruits from other regiments in the Cadian fashion. This is how the 99th came into being, as Cadian trainees. However the 99th differs from many other Cadian trained regiments in their strike force composition. The Conellian Claws train entire platoons of recruits to the standards of Cadian Kasrkin rather than just a few squads. Additionally, the 99th command structure differs from typical Astra Militarum protocol as well, using a cadre of mid-level officers leading each individual strike force, rather than one senior officer. This allows flexibility and combat endurance in the field, especially when fighting vanguard opponents that seek to disrupt the command structure.
The 99th favor lightning spearhead tactics, utilizing elite "Kat-srkin" squads and Taurox APCs to strike into weakened enemy positions. These spearheads are backed up by heavy armor like Rogal Dorns and field artillery batteries.

The 99th's regimental Shadowsword "House of the Rising Sun" is a recent addition to their arsenal. After the chassis was discovered during a recon op into a crashed freighter on a nearby death world, securing the relic tank was determined to be a top priority, as Tyranid genestealers and a small cult of followers were discovered to have survived the crash. After recovery, the vehicle was modified to suit the 99th's unique needs, having the main gun reduced in caliber to permit a crew deck to allow for rapid reloading of ammunition, potentially even from airdrop. Additionally, the minimum crew compliment was reduced by a secondary lascannon being added to each sponson turret to allow for multiple angles of fire. While these modifications are not approved by the major forge worlds, they are permitted due to the effectiveness of "The McConnellian Claws"

"Berserk killers fuelled by unstable chemical stims, Eversor Assassins are hurricanes of bladed and clawed destruction. They are unleashed as weapons of terror and annihilation, set loose to murder not only their intended target but anyone around them as well. Even in death they still serve, their body chemistry going critical with the explosive fury of a detonating plasma warhead." (Agents of the Imperium Codex)
The 99th employs high standards for their troops, but occasionally a recruit shows more aptitude for subterfuge and extreme violence. These recruits are pulled from the standard training regimen and put into a specialized program that enhances their already above standard abilities.
This is the 99th's PROWLER program. These operatives are trained for high profile demolitions and assassinations and are willing to put their life down to succeed in their objective. Once they complete their training, they are augmented with a third prosthetic arm in addition to the myriad of enchancements.
Prowler operatives have been on battlefield records as annihilating enemy leaders and their entire honor guard before perishing. These operatives are strictly off the books for lower command structures, but still get assigned to and marked on battle plans once the cadre of officers meets.

For reasons I'm unsure of, I am reviving my Tumblr, but now I post my painted minis! This is my most recent project, a Rogal Dorn Battle Tank belonging to the 99th McConellian regiment! The 99th is composed entirely of Felinids as they are native to the McConell system. This Dorn Tank "Two for Flinching" is commanded by Lieutenant Circe Tallan
