I was chatting with my mom on the phone today and told her how starting my Gargoyles liveblog reminded me of just before I started middle school.

The summer was coming to an end, and I was going to be switching from elementary school and a single classroom setup to a 95min, four different classes a day setup with alternating set of classes every other day. She knew I struggle with new changes for a bit, so she sat down and told me I needed to start going to bed earlier than I had even for elementary school.

She said the time she wanted me to be in bed by, and I about burst into tears. I couldn't do that! I told her. It's too early! She was not convinced and tried to reason with me and then I said, "That's when Gargoyles starts! You'll make me miss it every night!"

Bless my mom, for she realized then it wasn't just this change I was freaking out about. Honestly, I don't think it was 100% about missing my favorite show of the time, though I thought that's what it was. But I was afraid of the changes that were coming. Watching Gargoyles at one particular time of the day was one of the most consistent things I did day to day. It grounded me in my routine.

I did not have that new bed time. She let me keep watching it. I wouldn't even say I watched a whole lot of TV at this time yet. It was specifically that one show and she realized it was important to me. (There are other reasons why this was important too but yeah)

My mom often has regrets about how my childhood went down and what she did, tho mostly didn't, do. And she moved on to one such thing after this, but I wanted her to know that I remembered that moment, and she made me feel like what I cared about mattered when little else ever made me feel that way and she should be proud. I hope sometimes she is proud. I'm proud of her. And now I'm here with this show in my background that I still love!

bompastor can only bring 16 players for cdf. 3 out of 6 in the midfield need more game time. däbritz and marozsán combined playing minutes are still at 863 versus daan’s 870 in D1. majri has only played 95mins. one of the reasons why Lyon is able to go far is because our midfield is stacked, so we need to be able to count on them the further we’re into the tournament.

++ i also wouldn’t count it out that she could be burnt-out from the blow of massive injuries we’ve compounded from last season
