Would having the working size of a page be 900 by 1800 as oppose to 2000 by 3000 be okay? or would that cause some negative effects?

It really depends on what you're trying to do with the comic, I think?

If you're just posting it online, 900x1800 is not a bad size. If you never plan to do anything beyond posting it online, that size is fine.

I just work bigger because I prefer to have higher resolution images available. It makes editing stuff and organizing it for potential printing easier.

But plenty of artists work smaller, and there's nothing wrong with that! Just do what works for you.

What image size do you find works well for posting comics on tumblr?

I typically post in the same size as I do on Tapas, meaning 900x1800. That works well enough for the images to load without being too small, in my experience.

As someone who has their own ambitions to make a long serialized fan comic, any suggestions where to put the pages so tumblr doesn't crunch em up? Your pages always look so good.

Hey there, those are awesome ambitions! I wish you the best of luck.

As for pages - I'm not sure what you mean by 'where to put the pages'. I do upload pages directly onto tumblr most of the time. I never host them elsewhere and link, as that risks the links getting broken.

SIZE: I draw at 2000x4000 pixels, at 300dpi, and then resize the files to 900x1800 for posting.

Tumblr resizes them to 540 width for viewing, but I'd never had a huge issue with quality. Maybe it's the dimensions? Maybe something else.

And for posting, I honestly just think Tapas works for me because it's simple, but I've heard good things about comicfury as well!

(PS. Also, just out of curiosity... Why did you ask anonymously if you were just gonna leave your username? 😅 is this a new trend the kids these days are doing?)
